As per the writer, Dhol Gobinda is none other than the great writer himself with certain modifications that involves self-alienation, Nijeke nijer kachh theke chharie niey je—amike ami chakshush dekhte pai, amar sei ami holo giye Dholgobinda. Ananda has also published Subhas Mukhopadhyay’s poem books like Ekbar Biday De Ma, Chhele Gachhe Bane, Hafeezer Kabita among others.

 His entry into the literary world was with Yam, which he wrote in 1956 in the magazine, Kabita, edited by Buddhadeb Basu. His magazine Kabita Saptahiki stirred up the literary society in Bengal. Recipient of the Ananda Puraskar, Sahitya Akademi Puraskar, he is none other than Shakti Chattopadhyay. I have always been a fan of literature and mythology so I try to dig up as much as I can hehe

I have read some Chhoto Golpo by Rabindranath Thakur, he's my absolute favourite, my Gurudev. I have the Golpo Guchho, though I haven't complete read all of them till now, I plan to do very soon. Poems I've read a lot I guess I forgot, I know the story of Chokher Bali through movies and stuff, mom won't buy me that now cause I am too young for that she says. I LOVE LOVE LOVE rabindrasangeet trust me.

I have the Raj Kahini by Abanindranath Thakur in my to read list actually, I will read that once I complete the novel series I am reading currently. Cannot forget Khirer Putul, it was actually what my school did in my class 6th fest that was too memorable for me...

Other than that and Abol Tabol – I LITERALLY HAD ALL THE POEMS MEMORIZED AS A TODDLER – till now my bengali literature reach is not very much actually sadly... Though I do keep all my old school books and they have some great poems and stories in them.

But to ACTUALLY read, sadly I would have to get more books, which I plan to do very soon..

I have read the Chander Pahar by Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay (the movie was bad but I did enjoy it as a child) and Aranyak I've only read a bit, it was in my school textbook I loved that and will read the entire thing oneday. but Pather Panchali I've read a bit, in a book called Aam Aatir Bhepu, – it was it also in my school syllabus – though I'd love to read someday, I have watched the movies OFCOURSE.

I have read some of Upendra Kishore Ray Choudhary too, like Banor Rajputro or Tuntunir Golpo. I read his Cheleder Ramayan too (that was the first ever Ramayan I ever read). Gupi Gayen Bagha Bayen, I've only watched the movies.

AND DON'T GET ME STARTED ON PANDOB GOYENDA. MY GOD I LOVE THAT SO MUCH. Bilu was my first ever crush ngl lol.. I still love him.

But sadly I haven't read any of them, including Feluda and Byomkesh Bakshi. My knowledge in them only goes till the movies and shows. I watched those ssoftoons animation Pandob Goyenda and Gopal Bhar – ANOTHER THING I ABSOLUTELY ADORE – I still have those DVDS but I broke my laptop (don't ask me but it was funny T_T) so I have to wait now till I can watch them again.

And other than that, I am an ABSOLUTE SUCKER for Thakumar Jhuli, like I love them so much. I can talk about them for hours.

I would love it, if you have some good suggestions for what I should read.

And I would love it even more to be able to talk to someone about Bengali literature and stuff.. even mythology because I am a sucker for that too lol..

Singularity is almost invariably a clue. The more featureless and commonplace a crime is, the more difficult is it to bring it home.

It was six thirty in the evening. A taxi from Kolkata approached the mansion of the Neogis, the former zamindars of Baikuntthapur and halted before the gate. A stranger got out from the automobile. Upon disembarking, he was escorted to Soumya Shekhar Neogi, who was relaxing in his chair and enjoying the breeze. The latter wore thick glasses and was about to turn seventy.

Soumya Sekhar questioned, ‘Are you Rudrasekhar?’ The man sat down and gave Soumya Sekhar his passport. The latter gave it a short glance and returned it back. His cousin brother Rudrasekhar was someone he had never met before. Soumya's uncle had permanently left home twenty -seven years back. Soumya was drifting way back in his retrospection. He started revealing to Rudra that his uncle had not brought his son along when he later returned to their home in Baikuntthapur, suggesting that there may have been some conflict between the two men. The abrupt entrance of the elderly butler Jagadish ended Soumyasekhar's reminiscence. … ‘What is it, Jagdish?’ Thumri, the last of the fox terriers, had passed away, and Jagadish, with tears in his eyes imparted the news to his master. Its body was found in the bamboo jungle.

How might Thumri have perished? Was it murdered? Why would anyone murder an old pet? Pradosh Chandra Mitter (Mitra) alias Feluda must find out!

REFLECTIVE JOURNAL OF SOCIAL COHESION BETWEEN ROHINGYA AND MALAYSIAN AT KAMPUNG SEBERANG BALOK

The Rohingya are an ethnic minority group primarily residing in Myanmar (Burma), a country in Southeast Asia. They are predominantly Muslim and speak a dialect of the Bengali language. The Rohingya have faced a long history of discrimination, marginalization, and persecution in Myanmar. The government of Myanmar has denied them citizenship and restricted their access to basic rights and services, such as healthcare, education, and freedom of movement. The Rohingya have been subjected to various forms of human rights abuses, including violence, forced labor, sexual assault, and mass displacement. Due to the ongoing persecution, many Rohingya people have been forced to flee their homes and seek refuge in neighboring countries. Malaysia is one of the countries that has received a significant number of Rohingya refugees. Malaysia has been seen as a relatively more welcoming country for Rohingya refugees than Myanmar and other neighboring countries. Rohingya refugees often undertake dangerous journeys, including by boat, to reach Malaysia. 

This self-reflection journal is written as the experience to do a survey about Rohingya and Malaysian. Including their safety, assurance, finances, and their count of households. For Malaysian, we make a survey about Rohingyas’ activity and their comfortable living with Rohingya. Social cohesion reflects the level of harmony, cooperation, and shared values among individuals and groups within a society. Hence, our project aims to seek factors that affect social cohesion between Rohingya and Malaysian communities in the Balok area. Using the questionnaires, we interviewed 20 Rohingya households and 12 Malaysian households in the Balok area. In this project, it is proven there are social cohesion challenges between the Rohingya and Malaysians. 

For the preparation before moving to Kampung Seberang Balok. We discussed the souvenirs with the respondents and the leader of the Rohingya society. We decided to book the IIUM bags and some refreshments there. We also decided to prepare 30 questionnaires for both Rohingya and Malaysian respondents.  The preparation took us about three days to buy and prepare them. For the community leader, we decided to give him a mini jug as a souvenir. For my small preparation, I brought my personal camera for the event as our proofs media. On that day, we assembled at IIUM Kulliyyah of Science (KOS) main lobby for the van at 8.00 a.m. Our lecturer, Dr Asmida gave us some briefing about the place we will go and some advice. She told me that the majority of Rohingya there can’t speak Bahasa Melayu fluently. That might be a big challenge when progressing the survey. So we maybe need a translator such as a community leader. Additionally, two of my team are international students. So they need two translators to translate Bengali to Bahasa Melayu, then from Bahasa Melayu to English. Subsequently, at about 9.00 a.m., the van came. We reached there about 10 a.m. 

On the survey spot. We get appreciated by the community leader and some of the Rohingyas. Then we gave the souvenirs to the community leader and have a photo.

My objective is to interview 3 Rohingya and 2 Malaysian households. The environment is quite messy and unmanaged-well. For my first survey, the Rohingya is quite blundered when he spoke since he can’t speak Bahasa Malaysia well. To deal with this problem and make it go well, I decided to ask him in a simpler way to make him answer confidentially. For instance, I asked him a yes or no question first, then use some body language to enhance our communication. After that, I helped my international friend to do a survey by being her translator. Since Rohingya can’t speak English well. I volunteered to translate for her to smooth this experience. From this interview, I learned that most Rohingya can’t speak fluently, or even worse than that. I personally think that they are not educated well. Since they do not have enough money to make it. I’m touched by one of the Rohingya. He stated that he don’t have any money to bring his daughter to the hospital. He begged me and IIUM community to help him. His daughter have a fever for about 3 days and he cried over me, showing his desperation. After three of the Rohingya had been interviewed, we moved to the Malaysian community to do a survey. It was a little exhausting since it was a sunny day and in the afternoon. We found that it was easier since both of us can speak Bahasa Malaysia well. Time passed by, and we finished doing a survey at 2.00 p.m. 

After finishing the program, I need to gather all the surveys and conclude them. To be honest, the result is quite unsatisfactory. To summarize, Malaysian isn’t happy enough living with Rohingya due to difference in culture, poor hygiene, and environment. My personal thought is the egoistic and stigmatization against Rohingyan by Malaysian. I felt sympathy toward the Rohingya, they are not want to live here. It’s due to the war in their country makes them have no choices. The government is not controlling their immigration either legal or illegal. As Islam, we need to protect their safety by giving them a house and the right to work. I really hope Malaysians are not discriminated against them. As a student, my power is superficial, but in the next program, I will help them with financial support and assure a harmonious environment with Malaysian. I read the news that IIUM officially takes Rohingya refugees to study on its campus. It was one step closer to help them and give the right to live in this country. From these sustainable issues, I learned that all people need to be served equally and stop discrimination and racism. Because it will give a huge negative impact on the country.

Hello Readers…I hope you liked the Intro blog as much as I liked writing it…

One comment which I got from DeeDee was that I should have mentioned my age as, not ‘in thirties’, but rather ‘in late thirties’ !!!! Angry Pooh’s reaction was ‘Why not I say approaching FORTYYY!!!!’ …..(Inner Pooh – ‘If you round it off, you can even say FIFTY….’) GRRRRRRR……..

Guys, I need to introduce you all to another character in my life i.e. 'Inner Pooh'....Don't know what she is.... is she inside me? or outside me? is she some supernatural being???? I have no fucking idea….I just know that it's very difficult to keep her in control…she has her views, her choices, her comments blah blah blah,  in every chapter of my life!! It was tough to keep her out of the Intro blog….but now she is going to peekaboo from time to time….please bear with her!!!

I am a happy single with no wants to mingle (Inner Pooh : "As if they care!!").... But I do enjoy ‘window shopping’ (Mr. Momoas and Mr.Clooneys of the world) from time to time….I do not have any budget for actual ‘shopping’ in this life …..however, I do have a long exquisite shopping list for my next life… (Inner Pooh : "God save the world!!")...LOL…

I think I am funny…I may not be ‘Mrs. FunnyBones’ of the world…..but I definitely am ‘Ms. Funnily Crackling Bones’..yeahhhh, my knees have started making crackling sound…OLD AGE KNOCKING!!! (sighhhhhhhhh)

I am labelled as ‘Fake Punjabi’ by my friends…I am a pure vegetarian Punjabi who has never been to Punjab!!!! I knowwwww…laugh at my expense….(Inner Pooh sarcastically : "How funny!! You expect them to laugh at this?? duhhhh" )

If I weren’t Indian, I would definitely be an Italian…why?....simple answer….I love (rather am obsessed) with Pizza and Pasta! (Inner Pooh : “Cheese, Wine…..#drooling”)…I love the way Italians love their food…I adore their open nature, warm and welcoming to all…. (All these ideas are just based on my knowledge gained from books and movies :D I do hope to visit Italy someday…….)

If I am half Punjabi, then I am half Bengali (ohkk…I get it…some similarity with Piku)….I have spent my entire life in Kolkata….and the funny thing is that I can understand Bengali (with all its slangs, courtesy to my college friends) but in 30+ years, I have not learnt to speak Bengali….my Bengali is as good as my Punjabi…’ektu ektu’ (little little) LOL

Those who know me well, very well know, how much I depend on ‘Muri’ (aka puffed rice) in my life….Muri is my soul….Puffed rice making me puffier…but who cares….Muri is Love… (shout-out to all the Bongs who share this love)

I am a crazy freaking romantic…be it Mills & Boon books or Hallmark movies or Lata ji’s songs (may her soul rest in peace)….I am a sucker for all these!!!

I am hazardous to expensive technological stuff….I dare not buy expensive mobiles or television or laptop or blah blah blah….You need to ask Singh Jiju how tortured he feels seeing the way I handle my mobile phone (btw same goes for DeeDee and so you can understand Singh Jiju’s trauma :P )

I have a special ‘God-Gift’ to identify doppelgangers….yeahhhhh….’Heyyy, you look so much like Mr.X’, ‘DeeDee, see! isn’t she looking like Ms.Y’ , ‘I have seen this person somewhere….’ etc etc (Inner Pooh : "It's not a gift, silly…..screws in your brain are loose!!")

I have no love-interest in my life but I have FULL interest in other’s love-life!! In fact, every single niece/nephew I meet, I end up asking same questions…’got a girlfriend?’, ‘found a guy?’ …it has become such a bad habit that these nieces/nephews now say that I am becoming like those nosy aunties (Aunty mat bolo….DO NOT DARE CALL ME AUNTY!!!!).....(Inner Pooh : "Call her grannyyyyyy….")

I have this special talent that I fail to remember the names of things, people, places etc but I do remember their beginning alphabet…and then I play Bournvita Quiz Contest with my audience (I mean my poor relatives/friends)… ‘Arreee….it begins with an S’, ‘Sonu…I know this actor…what was his name?
