After their moment in the woods, Arthur noticed a change come over Del whenever they crossed paths at camp. She still greeted him with that shy smile, cheeks rosy as springtime. But there remained an new air of intimacy between them now too delicate to spoil with prying eyes.

Where before the girl would avert her gaze and slip away bashful as a foal, now Del lingered near whenever tasks or chores allowed. Her slender fingers would find excuses to brush his own as she passed, or her sweet voice call greetings from across the clearing in a way that sent shivers down Arthur's spine.

And lord help him, but Arthur found himself seeking Del out too with poorly disguised excuses to do this or fetch that. Just to steal a private moment to cup her cheek and place the softest kiss upon pink, willing lips. Filling his belly with a warmth no liquor could match.

They played this coy game for a while, stealing moments under the cover of darkness like young'uns sneaking about. But Arthur's feelings grew stronger daily, and keeping Del all to himself became a challenge harder fought with each breathless kiss.

He knew this game couldn't last forever. And one day soon, he'd have to face the noise and make Del properly his, consequences be damned. But for now, their secret was sweeter than anything else.
