i had a dream with gerard. i miss it already and i just woke up
#so#i was in mcdonalds with my best friend and my bf. and they were saying that gerard was upstairs with some fans#but i didnt want to go upstairs and bother him or sum. so i just go and look for a table (were not actually tables and were school desks)#and in the second row i see him sitting there totally alone. he was like tbp era yk and he looked at me and idk what we talked#so i sit next to him and we start talking. but wait we are not talking like face to face which would be the obvious thing to do bc hes next#to me -we were talking via twitter. like he tweeted something snd i answered and so on. i dont remember exactly what he was saying but it#was very gerardesque bc in my dream i went like god hes really back on twitter this IS gerard. at a moment a fee fans were also answering#to his tweets obvs and there was like a conversation between me and g and the fans made comments and casually joined every now and then#we were joking with him ablut blood and he said something smong the lines 'i havent listened to all of my songs in some time but you guys#sound as if you listened to all the vynils and then consumed them with ur mouth and swallowed them' normal clearly#they bother him (friendly bc he isnt bothered) with saying shit like haha u r a kinky bitch and thats when he says that#and he says he doesnt even remember what he said in his songs because 'i have written so much' but that he does remember not writing about#girlhood and being a woman -he was joking. so i answer 'gerard. gerard. look me in the eyes' and say abt the times he sang abt girlhood#and i mentioned revenge and not that kind of girl and he laughs like uuuhh u got me i was just joking hehehe. then we continue talking but#now face to face. i ask him what he thinks about argentina (im argentinian and in the dream he was here) and he says he likes it a lot bc#1. its small (????? we are literally the 8th biggest country but okay??? i think he meant like buenos aires is very. narrow streets and cool#like the way its built its weird and unique) and 2. its the only place in the world where it frels like its still the 90s#i know we talked some more but i dont remember by now. next thing i know i am with my mother saying i need her to give me money#because they were playing a concert that night and she was like i cant#and i think i was like damn okay ill ask gerard themself if i can do it free if i go with them but then i woke up#rad. the first part felt very real btw#then i was just showing symptoms of illness and being chrinically online /j#but yeah. that i guess. i never remember when i dream eith him#music#mcr#emo#gerard way#we didnt even eat at mcdonalds we were just sitting there

Happy November guys I've been brainrotting about Gerry Keay and have decided to write a fanfiction about him heh its a bit silly, a bit sarcastic, and kinda horrifying, just like our favourite arsonist <3 Find the link below if you're interested
I Suffer No Fools - ThnksFrThGy - The Magnus Archives (Podcast) [Archive of Our Own]
Here's a small excerpt of the fic so y'all can get a taste of my style if you like:
I could feel it. Something was happening. My bones sang with it.
About halfway up the stairs, I could sense it. A surge of power roiled over my skin. I rolled my eyes, attempting to brace myself for the new flavour of horror my mother would be releasing now.
Somehow, I'd underestimated the woman.
When I entered the apartment over the bookstore my mother owned - Picken's Books - I'd expected to see some Eldritch entity of some kind. Maybe a Distortion come to visit, or some messed up mannequin. Maybe she wasn't quite bored of taunting Perry with that Leitner - the one that had tried to eat me when I'd tried to burn it, probably - or maybe she was talking to the End through the bones again. She had gotten pretty good at reading them since I'd found the book. Maybe she was actually getting somewhere with the whole "taking control of the entities one by one" thing. Who knew? Not me. She could very well have been doing anything, but what I came home to that day was a whole new level of fucked up.
Blood had spilled like a rich red oil over the floor. There was so much. Surely we weren't doing human sacrifice now. I mean, I knew she'd killed people before. I'd killed people before. That didn't mean I had to like it. I hated it when people died. Surely we shouldn't be feeding people to the monsters. It was all we could do to keep free of them ourselves.
"Gerard!" My mother called. Her voice was strangled with pain, and I must admit a shameful part of my heart swelled with something that wasn't panic when I heard it. Wouldn't it have been lovely to be free of her? Surely I'd simply let whatever it was eat her. Surely I could just walk out, come back in five when the deed was done.

Socks' Ultimate Phantoms list
Phantoms
Franc D'Ambrosio - Yes. Brings all the sad noises and I am here for it. Nice voice. Excellent acting and facial expressions. Very expressive eyes. Is a cinnamon roll irl. Gary Mauer - Best voice ever. 10/10 would believe this man was an angel. Greg Mills - Looks like a cinnamon roll, will kill you. I never thought tongue action could be sexy but here we are. Ted Keegan - Looks like a cinnamon roll, is a cinnamon roll. Surprisingly sexy. Killian Donnelly - Looks like a cinnamon roll. I can't explain why I like him, but I do. Christopher Carl - I've only heard audio of him but I like him based on how he sobbed on the golden angel. Jeremy Stolle - Nice voice. Acting is too subtle. Peter Karrie - I love how he takes certain notes up a step, just to show that he can. Slightly nasally, but tolerable. Davis Gaines - tbh all I remember really is him slowly rocking his hips while he was sprawled on the portcullis and I now judge all phantoms on a metric of how good their pants look. 9/10 his pants. Peter Joback - I absolutely hated him when he sang in English. I liked him a little better when he did the show in Swedish. James Hume - Unmemorable. Michael Nicholson - Excellent acting choices. Was thinking about him for two weeks after watching. I just really like the production in German, okay? Earl Carpenter - Better in his earlier runs. Good acting choices. Simon Pryce - Very deep voice. Stands nicely. Scott Davies - He looked like fun and I wanted to like him. Noped out of that one pretty quick. Too much vibrato. Anthony Crivello - From the Vegas boot! I actually don't remember too much about him. But I know I liked the boot! Ben Crawford - Tended to have really weird pronunciation toward the end of his run. He was decent when I saw him right after the Broadway reopening. The most remarkable thing he did was to belly slide all the way across the stage during STYDI. Other than that, I recall nothing specific. Thiago Arancam - Remarkable only in the fact that he is boring. Uwe Kroger - The boob-stroking guy. I remember nothing else. Cooper Grodin - Entertaining in the fact that his acting is so wooden. Nice voice when he's not doing blocking at the same time. Good pants. It helps that he never skips leg day. Laird Mackintosh - I think he was good? I honestly don't remember. Geronimo Rauch - I remember I liked him! Norm Lewis - Nice voice, a little boring. Sorry Norm. John Owen-Jones - Hands. Michael Crawford - Absolutely not. I do not understand what anyone sees in him. His voice sounds like it's about to snap any second, and he is very unsexy. David Shannon - Yes. Absolutely yes. Excellent acting choices and nice voice. Does sad very well. Deserved better. Saulo Vasconcelos - All I can recall is @wheel-of-fish spamming the chat with "hands" all night and that's all anyone really needs to know about his Phantom. Ethan Freeman - Looks like a goddamn stick insect during Final Lair and I am here for it. Looks like Tony Shaloub. Bronson Norris Murphy - Technically only was the Phantom in Love Never Dies. RIP. He deserved better. Anyway. His voice is a little deeper than Franc's or Gary's. I wish he had gotten a chance to play the Phantom in POTO proper. I am very curious as to how he would have played it. Looks like a cinnamon roll, is a burnt cinnamon roll. Ramin Karimloo - He was my intro to POTO on stage. I liked his performance enough that I went looking for more clips of the musical, and found the Saturday Streams. Eiji Akutagawa - Ah yes. The self-groping Phantom. That's all I can remember about him. Josh Piterman - Does sad very well. Gerard Butler - My first-first Phantom. I still like him. There's something about his voice that I do actually like, and it annoys me very much when people go "he can't sing" yes he can, everyone has the ability to sing. Just shut up and let me enjoy what I like in peace. Hugh Panaro - Great voice, excellent acting. Funny. Fun to watch. Reminds me of Franc, in that they're both innocent/childish. Hugh is more childish and angry. Looks like he could kill you, and he might, it depends on his mood.

OAKLAND, CA 10/5/22
Hi I just got fucked at an mcr show
- Vacuum guy went up on stage! Rainbow lights and sensual music it was funny
- THEY MADE US SING THE LYRIC FROM MAMA. Gerard stopped singing at that point and pointed the mic to the audience(?). WE WERE ALL SCREAMING IT. THE ENTIRE VENUE WAS SHAKING. YOU SHOULD'VE RAISED A BABY GIRL I SHOULD'VE BEEN A BETTER SON. CHANGED ME. OH MY GOD
- Gerard: 'This is a song for us and for you(?)' (About Kids From Yesterday - Last song they played)
- Apparently it was? Worm's birthday. I think g said it's tomorrow. Gerard: 'Let's/We're [going to] embarrass him'. We sang happy birthday for the guy while Worm was standing there awkwardly.
- Gerard kept on making weird ass noises and saying cryptic ass stuff in between songs
- Gerard: Hi. (Waves) We say hi back. He does this multiple times lol. 'Hi!!' 'Hi!!!'
- It was kind of surreal seeing them in the flesh. I was so much closer to the guys than I thought I was going to be. Mikey's the coolest. Always posing doing his thing. He moves around on stage A LOT. THE Glitter bass. Throwing picks to the pit.
- Ray was hoppin and jumping around lol
- Biased because this is my show but...best. setlist. ever. The World is Ugly (WIN FOR ME!!!!), Boy Division, Planetary, Mama, Famous Last Words, Scarecrow, Skylines, The Kids from Yesterday+ (Rocked too hard at Planetary,I lost my mind at Boy Division. I Almost blew my head off. To the two people behind me dancing and singing without a care in the world, felt. My heart warmed up just seeing everyone having fun😭❤️❤️ They played all my favorite songs, except Vampire Money lol)
- ALSO THE STAGE WAS SO FUCKING SICK WHEN THE BACKDROP WENT DOWN AND WHEN THE LIGHTS TURNED RED I WAS LIKE THIS IS IT FOR ME
It was magical. The entire show. But especially when Famous Last Words came on . There's something about hundreds of people singing I am not afraid to keep on living. I'll always remember this night. Thank You MCR <3(And Taking Back Sunday experiencing MakeDamnSure live was pretty fucking cool!!)

MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE & THE OUTLINE: HIGHLIGHTS & SET LIST!
December 12, 2006
Tumblr media
Words can't really describe what The Outline & My Chemical Romance did to over 2,000 screaming fans on Monday night at the House of Blues in Vegas.
But since that's my job - here goes....
MCR fans started showing up about 36 hours before the show!  They waited oh-so-patiently (if a little obsessively) in the casino for the big moment.  15 minutes before doors opened, the excitement in the air was palpable as the crowd, packed in like cattle, prepared for the stampede.
Meanwhile, I won $6.75 playing the slots.
The Outline took the stage first, and totally wowed everyone with their brand of rough, aggressive rock 'n roll.  Their set up is the classic 2 guitars, bass, keys, drums - sometimes they're primal; sometimes they're straight-ahead, but always they rokk.
Lead singer Graham Fink strutted around the stage, slinging his hair like hash, and the crowd ate it all up.  He's an excellent frontman - good witty banter, he introduced songs & he plugged the band's name often.  At the end of their set, drummer Ryan Rabin threw his sticks into the ocean of people, and they were snapped up like a Barry Bonds' homerun ball.
Then the HOB crew set up the Black Parade banner in front of the stage.  As it rose higher & higher, so too did the ferocity of teenage screams - building into a "We want My Chem" - clap-clap-clapclapclap mantra.  Normally I wear earplugs at shows for the band - this time I had to protect my fragile ears from the rabid fans!
Finally - THE moment arrived and MCR took the stage.  GWay revealed, "I always wanted to be a Vegas showgirl - this will have to do!"
Of course, the packed house of 2k+ was singing along.  And when I say singing along, I mean they sang every word of every verse and every chorus of every song.  I'm completely serious.
The waltz-time "Mama" reminded me of jangling skeletons as Gerard pranced around like an underworld dandy, pale cheeks sucked in.  Meanwhile, security was lifting smooshed fans to safety, including a mother and her young son.
Gerard is truly a gifted and astonishing front man.  He's just got so much damn energy - like a band leader on PCP.  This was especially true on "Black Parade" as he orchestrated 2,000 hand thrusts en masse.  In fact, I think that guy has a hand gesture for every lyric.  Before launching into the chorus, he yelled, "Vegas - I wanna hear you sing every @#$%ing word!"  Mosh pockets and crowd surfing ensued, while Ray Toro shredded triumphantly ala Queen.
This was a perfect example of the amazingly seamless give-and-take of energy between MCR and their raving fans.  Its a chicken & egg thing, so its impossible to say whose energy is feeding whom, but the crowd was able to respond immediately to whatever vocal or rhythmic demands Gerard placed on them.  Its a good thing he didn't tell them to drink red koolaid.
I also noticed that he seems to have studied from the great front-men who came before him.  There was Jagger's Rooster Strut, Hendrix's Finger Worshipping on Bended Knees, Axl Rose's Mic Slither, among others.
BTW - I think there should be a Black Parade Workout Video.  You'd definitely get in shape, if you could keep up.  Plus, since you'd be wearing black - you'd sweat A WHOLE LOT.
Oh yeah - I need to give a shout-out to the really stellar lighting job at this show.  I don't know your name, but you do your job VERY WELL.
I'd also like to give my commendations to all the parents who came to the show with their younguns.  Many of you seemed just as fanatic about MCR as your kids!  If my parents had been that cool when I was a kid, my teen angst would've been severely mitigated.
MCR dedicated "I Don't Love You" to "our very special friend," Rob Cavallo.  Hopefully that wasn't a secret message.
Frank, Ray & Mikey were using wireless instruments.  This allowed for unprecedented stage thrashability.
Between the show and the encore, the fans sounded like the primate house at the zoo just before feeding time.  When MCR took the stage again, Gerard was feeling gracious:  "Thank you all so much for coming out and @#$%ing believing in this.  We've been doing this for 5 years and it doesn't get harder - it gets a whole lot more fun!"
The lighters were broken out for "Cancer", the first encore.  Its just so MEANINGFUL, man!
The show was definitely a black mass presided over by MCR, with the congregation reaching a feverish, ecstatic state.  I almost expected people to start babbling in tongues.
Afterwards, the Meet & Greet was like a well-oiled machine.  Maybe they've done this a few times?
1.  The End 2.  Dead! 3.  Disappear 4.  Not Okay 5.  Cemetery 6.  Mama 7.  The Black Parade 8.  I Don't Love You 9.  Venom 10.  Teenagers 11.  Give Em Hell 12.  House Of Wolves 13.  Famous 14.  Prison --> ENCORE 1.  Cancer 2.  Helena
OH - And dude that gave me the CD for his band THE SCIENCE......I handed it directly to Gerard Way.  He says he listens to every album he gets.  Good luck!
What'd y'all think of the show?!

My thoughts on last night, warning that this is very long and rambly, I tried to insert a read-more but it doesn't seem to work anymore and I couldn't find any info about how to get it to work so... apologies. These are also all just unedited thoughts I just wrote down last night and today while I still had everything fresh, so it's probably not super coherent.
That was amazing
-I was right, Ray's smile is fatal in real life. It's too beautiful. I am deceased now. He is also just beautiful in general, I don't generally yell to men I don't know that I love them, but yeah. He had a ponytail and grinned so much and he grinned in my general direction several times and I am dead
- Mikey OWNS the stage. He was moving around and grinning and making so much eye contact and I know he's like that generally nowadays but he was KILLING IT last night
-They all looked in my general direction various times, there was one time when Frank looked in our direction and a bunch of us waved and he smiled at us
-Gerard said at the end that he was dealing with a headache, but he was still so amazing. There was one point where he turned to each section of the crowd and said hi to everyone, it was great
-He also did some other fun stuff, like running around the stage and wrapping the cord around his neck, and he did lead us in some stuff and he was very pretty and that shirt made it very obvious when he was just like... DRENCHED in sweat. Also yes I appreciated the top several buttons being undone thank you Gerard
-We all sang happy birthday to Worm! Gerard mentioned how there were like eight different versions being sung and that he loved it
-The setlist was amazing, I think there was only one song I particularly wanted to hear that they didn't play but they played both Fashion Statement AND Vampires and I had thought beforehand it'd be awesome to hear those two but figured they probably wouldn't play them so I can live without Vampire Money. Also I remember thinking in the time leading up to the show that I really wanted to hear Planetary (Go!) but I wasn't going to hope for it but they did play it and it was great
-My voice is WRECKED, I only bought one water bottle and my throat was raw by the third song but I still kept scream-singing with every song as much as I could. It's a bit better this morning but it's still sore and I'm trying to drink tea+honey to see if that helps
-There was one point at the end when Ray was bouncing so much and it was very much a mood, I really wish I could find video of that moment 'cause he just looked so energetic and happy and into the music and he also jumped pretty high which I thought was cool
-Apparently if you keep standing for hours on end you're fine, but if you're then seated for three hours and stand up again your legs turn to jelly at that point
-I say standing but I was bouncing the whole time because I cannot and do not attempt to dance but I can and do jump in place when I'm excited so I did. ...I also bounced while in line for merch and didn't really notice anyone else do so and I was like do none of y'all stim? (Speaking of, SO much happy stimming on my end last night, it was just... yeah~) I did have to alternate between full on bouncing and just doing those little knee-bend bounces because my legs would get tired
-I was so sad that I missed both opening acts because I was in line for merch (I got inside around seven and got in line for merch around 7:15 and it took over an hour and a half to get to the merch table), but they were loud enough we could hear them outside the stadium proper and I did jam out a bit in line. I did manage to get to my seat in time to see and cheer for the vacuum guy, so that was great!
-Speaking of merch, they weren't selling any mystery shirts where I went, which was disappointing, but I did get a tote, beanie, and the Boy Zone short so that was great~
-I didn't take any pictures or anything (I mean, I took one of the drum and one of vacuum guy but none during the actual show) because I didn't want to break my immersion, so I'm extra grateful for everyone else who takes pictures and videos and uploads them. Obviously they can't capture those "they're interacting with the crowd in my general direction" moments, but even if I did have my phone out I wouldn't have been able to capture those.
-There were different times when it seemed like each band member made eye contact with me and I know logically they didn't but I'm letting myself have this
-It really is just so surreal. It was so much fun and I got to see them live and just... I'm not good at living in the moment but last night I was there and we were all there and it was stunning
-When we were making our way out, someone in the audience yelled to the rest of the audience something like "attention! You are all beautiful!" and I feel like that really encapsulated the feeling of the night
-You know what Ray said about how people should feel after a MCR show. Yeah that's accurate

I saw my chemical romance yesterday at Ri*t fest and honestly? The band was amazing and I loved Gararde. He’s the sweetest man alive and doesn’t deserve us as fans. I sang at the top of my lungs, met some awesome people before mcr and after mcr too.
However, I’ve never been on the verge of a panic attack during a musical festival until ri*ot fest. The crowd before mcr, the front/‘middle, wasn’t bad yet and I had a good time. But suddenly a huge wave of people appeared and it was chaos.
A girl next to me looked like she was about to faint but was okay. I couldn’t text my mom cause I had little to no service. So I went towards the side gates to find or climb my way out. Politely asking/yelling for people to move and apologizing repeatedly.
I finally got to the side and asked if a person could move slightly, so I could see/get out. As I started to have a hard time breathing and was on the edge of tears from anxiety. The person refused, basically saying to fuck off. While others around us were trying to help me.
I then started to follow a group of people trying to leave as well. A guy behind me repeatedly yelling at people to move. While everyone else us seemed to glare at us before moving. It was dark and I couldn’t see shit. I was scared, I felt like I was the bad person for leaving
I eventually found my mom and we watched from the back, recording and having a blast. I know there’s mosh pits and shit, I was backing away from them. I was dodging from crowd surfers. I was packed in the crowd, unable to move my arms. It was shit and organized horribly.
I’m not sure what happened in the middle/front crowds later on. But I felt really sad for MCR, repeatedly asking fans to back the fuck up. And Gerard sounded so stressed out too. I’m honestly not sure if I want to go back for riot fest.
my mom also had to wait in line for ever two hours just to get food and more water. She said she’s never experienced a music festival this disorganized and overcrowded before. Was it worth waiting over two years to see MCR for the first time? Yes. Was it terrifying? Yes.

The Black Parade - Part 2
This is part 2 of my song-by-song review of TBP. There will also be a third part shortly, and I’ll review the b-sides separately.
Welcome to the Black Parade - THE song, god, what can I say, this is the first MCR song I ever heard and I was immediately blown away, the fucking piano at the beginning, so simple yet haunting, an amazing melody that just sticks in your head, one of the most instantly recognizable song intros, beautiful and striking even before Gee starts singing, and then when he does, jesus christ, I get chills, I can feel it in my bones, there are emotions I can only access when listening this song, god, and then it builds so gradually and grandly with the drums and the bass, and then it comes in at full grandiose force at 1:04, and Gee starts screaming the same words he just sang so sweetly and vulnerably, fuck, and the transition at 1:47, the drums, and the complete tempo change and tone shift, exquisite, and it’s so unexpectedly catchy while still beautiful and emotional and empowering, and the lyrics, my god, so simultaneously dark and reassuring, this song feels like kneeling in darkness and looking upwards into the light, god, my favorite part (aside from the beginning and the fun little guitar riff at 2:46) is at 3:32-4:04 and then 4:27, just the lines “Do or die / You’ll never make me / because the world / will never take my heart / Go and try / you’ll never break me” absolutely kill me, god, this is a religious experience, this is an anthem, this changed my life. The backstory behind the song makes it all the more interesting: “Originally entitled ‘The Five of Us Are Dying’, and sketched out as early as sessions for the first album, it had evolved to the extent that only the verse survived. It went through revision after revision in the studio, a painstaking process of trial and error. Singing it, Gerard felt he was close to complete breakdown. ‘It felt like the pressure was tearing us up,’ he said. ‘It was the hardest song on the record to make. I was going through some very difficult personal things. I was literally going through them as we were tracking the song. Originally it was sort of a plea for help’” (The True Lives of My Chemical Romance, 153). You can check out a rough mix of that original version here. I also found the origins of the piano intro fascinating: ‘For the intro to the album we had this original idea that you would hear a parade coming down the street,’ says Cavallo. ‘You’d first hear it in the distance then, as it got closer, you’d hear it getting louder and louder...then it would get quieter after it passes you by...the guys asked me to play the piano to give them an arc of this parade idea. So I started with those piano notes...then I harmonized it high up the keyboard, then I made it louder and louder until I was playing it Rachmaninoff style. The whole piano was screaming and then I worked it back down to being quiet. It lasted three or four minutes’...On his return, he discovered a slightly sheepish band. ‘Er...we fucked with your piano. We didn’t want to use it for something that was going to be an interstitial piece...We used the first half and stuck it onto this song called “Welcome to the Black Parade”’...Cavallo was stunned when he heard what they had done. He turned back to the band and said, simply, ‘Oh my God! You guys! This is the greatest thing I’ve ever heard!’” (The True Lives of My Chemical Romance, 160-161). Then of course there’s the music video, which is just a cinematic masterpiece and one of the best music videos ever. The making of video is also really cool, and I highly recommend checking it out--their reactions to the set at 1:34, Mikey at 5:03, the visual effects explanation at 11:20--it’s great (also, 2:17, help, what are you doing). The outtake version is also pretty interesting (check out 15:20 and 16:17). Additionally, if you want a more in-depth analysis, 12tone made a really cool video that goes more into the music theory side of things. There’s also the Kevin Smith Podcast where Gerard and Mikey go through the entire song from 36:32-1:57:36. They get off track a lot, and it’s a long video, so some highlights are 36:32, 41:19, 49:44, 51:39, 54:11, 56:02, 57:10, 1:01:39, 1:05:08, 1:07:04, 1:12:45, 1:16:44, 1:25:44, 1:38:43, 1:44:37, 1:45:26, 1:54:56, and 1:57:10, but it’s all fascinating.
I Don’t Love You - one of the more understated songs on the album, interestingly following the intense and dramatic WTTBP, but it works somehow, fairly simple but incredibly effective, one of the most honest and direct tracks on TBP, my favorite part is the quiet yet pained way Gee sings at 3:06-3:22, like he’s physically holding himself back from crying or screaming, it’s beautiful and tragic and very raw and personal, this song also has some of the most cutting lyrics on the album, I mean “When after all this time that you still owe / You’re still a good-for-nothing I don’t know,” “And after all the blood that you still owe / Another dollar’s just another blow,” “When you go / would you have the guts to say / ‘I don't love you / like I loved you yesterday,’” god it’s so vulnerable and heartfelt. From my understanding, the song is at least partially about one of Gee’s past relationships, but within the concept it’s just as heartbreaking. There’s also the much forgotten about music video, which is really weird and has some absolutely terrifying mid-2000s cgi, but I do really like how the guitars start exploding at 3:23. Also, check out the outtakes version for some interesting facial expressions, very genuine and expressive performances, and really fun slow mo shots (10:27-11:45 holy shit)
House of Wolves - this song took the longest for me to warm up to on TBP and I almost didn't include it on my MCR playlist, but then I listened to it half a dozen more times and it started to click, such a fun and cathartic song, I love the transition at 0:59-1:07 with the whispers of “s i n” and the guitar runs in the background, I also really like the intro with the weird whiny guitars transitioning to a harder more aggressive sound, my favorite part is at 1:53 when Gee sings “You better run like the devil cause they’re never gonna leave you alone” because I love how the guitars fall away to highlight the line, also the guitar part at 2:29-2:47 when he’s singing “Tell me I’m a bad, bad, bad, bad man” goes so hard, overall a really solid song with great energy and anger without being as theatrical as others. Somewhat unsurprisingly, it was started by Frank: “‘House of Wolves’, and its lolloping jungle-blues kick, came from a dead day at The Paramour in the wake of Mikey’s departure when only Frank was interested in playing. He borrowed one of the library of guitars that Cavallo had brought into the studio – in this case, a giant red acoustic – and simply started playing something he thought his dad might like” (The True Lives of My Chemical Romance, 161).
Cancer - this goddamn song, fuck, one of the most painful MCR songs to listen to, so quiet and simple in contrast to the aggression and theatricality of most of the record, but it still stands out, and god, the lyrics “Now turn away / cause I’m awful just to see / Cause all my hairs abandoned all my body / all my agony / Know that I will never marry,” I get chills every time I hear it, sometimes I have to skip this song when listening to TBP because I can’t handle listening to it, it’s just such a gut punch, Frank is so right, and Gee’s vocal performances, especially live, god, Mexico, Bonn, it’s so just so direct and raw and desperate, it’s haunting, my favorite part has to be the ending starting at 1:42, I wish I could listen to it more since it’s so beautiful. Its inception is also very interesting: “Ray said his fingers were determined to find patterns and notes he wouldn’t normally play until, instinctively, he knew it was a song that needed a piano rather than a guitar. The following day, Gerard was waiting for Cavallo...‘[Gerard] sang, I played the piano and it was written...He directed me, told me what sort of chords to play and, all of a sudden, my fingers were doing the talking. I had no idea what the fuck I was doing and “Cancer” came out eight minutes later. The engineer showed up half an hour later and we recorded it. Done.’ It was a song that struck the entire band...and became almost too hard for My Chemical Romance to listen back to. Ray, who played bass on the song, found it difficult. He was worried it might upset people, so stark were its tones, and fretted for a few days as to whether they should include it. He talked to a friend who had been affected by cancer and that person eased his worries, saying it might act as a tribute to those who had died from the disease” (The True Lives of My Chemical Romance, 159-160)
Mama - the second MCR song I ever heard and one of my all time favorites, holy shit, everything about this song, from the opening bouncy guitar riff with explosions in the background to the sobbing at the end, Jesus fucking christ the guitars in this song, Ray Toro you are an actual genius, I mean the chorus at 0:57-1:18, and then the build at 2:39 that leads to the breakdown at 2:57-3:23, fuck fuck fuck, I’m going to kill someone, and then the lyrics god “Mama, we’re all full of lies / Mama, we’re meant for the flies,” “Well mother what the war did to my legs and to my tongue / You should’ve raised a baby girl / I should’ve been a better son / If you could coddle the infection / they can amputate at once / You should’ve been / I could have been a better son,” “She said ‘You ain’t no son of mine’ / For what you’ve done they’re gonna find / a place for you / and just you mind your manners when you go / And when you go / don’t return to me, my love,” “But the shit that I’ve done with this fuck of a gun / You would cry out your eyes all along,” clawing my heart out, why did you write this, and the fucking screaming, 2:55, 4:14, god everything about his vocal delivery in this song, the lilt in his voice when he sings “I’m writing this letter and wishing you well” at 0:30 and “I’d hate to see you cry” at 0:50, the way he wails and howls “mama” at 3:03-3:26, and then Liza Minelli of all people at 3:27-3:34, and it works so brilliantly, really solidifying the kind of old timey feel, and then the switch back to Gee with the hardest line in the whole song, followed by a whole chorus of voices at 3:43, god, this fucking song, the way it builds all the way through to 2:57, gives a short reprieve via the Liza Minelli bridge, and then comes back full force at 3:35, and then the ending, the unhinged screaming at 4:14 to the sobbing to the simple circusy melody, I love it so much, my favorite part has to be 2:54-3:26, my eyes are literally rolling back in my skull, I want to carve it into my bones. And this masterpiece came into existence because someone bet against guitar god Ray Toro: “Early in the writing sessions, Ray had been bet that he couldn’t write a polka – the Eastern European, oompah-ish folk dance. Building on the cabaret of Revenge’s ‘You Know What They Do to Guys Like Us in Prison’, Ray began to piece together his Russian dance while Gerard worked on a melody with the aim of creating something cinematic and fun. It would become ‘Mama’, one of their third album’s key tracks: flamboyant, over-the-top, camp and wildly original. It was the song that told the band they could take their music anywhere they wanted – even if it was ‘batshit crazy’” (The True Lives of My Chemical Romance, 139). Also interesting is how Liza Minelli ended up singing on it: “Gerard had slipped into character on the song, singing in female voices as he sought to bring Mother War to life, but felt his efforts weren’t quite working. He had been warming up for his vocal takes by attempting an over-the-top impression of the Broadway singer Judy Garland, and so when Cavallo and his engineer Doug McKean asked what he was striving for on ‘Mama’, he said it needed her daughter Liza Minnelli to guest on it. He was not being entirely serious. So he was surprised to see Cavallo pick up a phone...In just a few moments, the producer had convinced her to sing on the album – something which delighted the band. ‘The reason Liza Minnelli ended up on Black Parade was because I was thinking about who my grandmother would have wanted on it,’ said Gerard” (The True Lives of My Chemical Romance, 161).
Sorry this post got so long, especially WTTBP and Mama, I had a lot I wanted to get out. Also, listening to such emotionally intense songs on repeat while I try to write about them is really draining, WTTBP almost took me out. The next part will also probably be difficult to do, so it might take me a bit. However, I’m still enjoying going through MCR’s discography and taking the time to really focus on things that I usually just listen to casually. Feel free to share your own thoughts and opinions.
And happy early birthday to Bullets, which was released 20 years ago on 7/23/02!

Illicit Affairs
A/N: Okay so the ages and timing on this story don’t make much sense but just overlook that, maybe? I don’t know you’ll see but just try to ignore it if you can for the sake of the story. Also I know it’s been forever since I posted but it’s because I’ve been working on this series, so yeah. Pairing: Gerard Way x F!Reader Word count: 2,488 Warnings: I don’t think any.
Your Uncle Frank was one of your number one supporters through it all, and by far one of your closest family members.
You had known him since you were 13, as he and your Aunt Jamia (who was your mother’s sister) had met early in high school and had been dating since. Now that you were 20 and in college, triple majoring at NYU, he was once again your biggest supporter, helping you financially at every opportunity he could. You always felt so guilty for the thousands of dollars he insisted on paying monthly to help you get through college with little to no student debt, but he was insistent.
And of course you knew that money came from his now wildly successful band My Chemical Romance. You had been to a few My Chem shows, but had surprisingly never actually met any of the guys, besides Ray who you accidentally met while dropping off some coffee for Frank at the recording studio. You were actually a pretty big fan of their music, but you never broadcasted that your uncle was Frank Iero. That remained pretty private.
But here you were, driving to one of their shows for the soundcheck from Frank’s New York apartment, which you were staying at for the summer because A. You were taking summer classes and B. He offered to pay you to dog/house sit while he was touring, since Jamia consistently had work that sometimes meant she had to travel.
You pulled up to the large venue, showing security the backstage pass that Frank had given you, before being escorted into the main arena, where empty spaces for chairs lurked open, a few maintenance and sound people running around and fiddling with various things. You looked up to see some of the guys sitting down in a circle having a conversation. Frank noticed you almost immediately, getting up with a big smile and running up to you, engulfing you in a hug, and you hugged him back. “How’s my favorite neice?” He asked and you lightly laugh.
“Great, you?” You asked and he smiled back.
“Great.” It was funny to be shorter than Frank, only be a few inches, but still, making you the shortest in both the family and in most social situations. He walked you over to where everyone else was, introducing you in general as everyone got up to shake your hand. You already knew Ray, who gave you a hug, but you had never met the other three.
First was Mikey, who seemed shy and a little awkward, but was pretty adorable. Then came Bob, who seemed chill, and finally Gerard. You had to admit he was pretty handsome both on and off stage, but you pushed some confidence forward so you wouldn’t chicken out. “I’m Gerard.” He shook your hand with a kind smile.
“Y/N.” You responded, shaking it back. You could see your uncle eyeing the both of you from the corner of your eye, but you weren’t totally sure why. Was your crush on Gerard that obvious. You pulled away a moment, somewhat nervously with the conscious that at least your uncle knew, meaning other people probably did too.
You all sat down in a group as the guys began asking questions about you and what you were doing in school. All of them (besides Frank who already knew) were extremely surprised as you triple majoring, but you couldn’t help and notice how Gerard was fixated on you the entire time. After a bit of explaining stuff about you, everyone split up to go do their own thing. Ray, Mikey, and Frank all went off to begin tuning and testing their stuff while Bob did the same, but Gerard stayed back with you for a few minutes.
“Hey, this could be totally weird and awkward and not cool and you can totally say no,” Gerard began, quietly to you when no one was around, “But would you mind if I got your number? I mean I could ask Frank but your his niece so that might be awkward and-” “No, no, it’s fine.” You lightly smiled, as if to reassure him. You pulled a sticky note and pen out of your backpack, writing it down, “Here.” You smiled at him, handing it over. “But I would advise you don’t tell Frank, because he might, ya know-” “Yeah, yeah, trust me, I know.” He said and the two of you lightly laughed. “Are you gonna be at the show tonight?” He asked and you nodded, “Cool, cool. Have you been to one before.” You nodded again.
“A few times, actually, I’ve just never gotten to meet you guys.” You lightly smiled.
“Cool, cool.” He responded. You could tell how awkward both of you felt, each of you having the urge to keep the conversation going but it just wasn’t there. “So I should probably go and start sound check, ya know. But it was awesome meeting you, Y/N.” Gerard smiled.
“You too.” You smiled back.
“I’ll see you around?” “See you around.” You lightly waved as he jogged the other way.
You ended up excusing yourself and saying bye, with the excuse that you had more school work to do, when in reality you just needed some air as your mind continued to process the idea that the Gerard Way just asked for your number. He was so nervous and cute about it that in a way it made you all the more happy getting to know him briefly, but he was nothing like how he was on stage. The confidence that seemed to erupt in him was all wiped away as he just seemed like a nervous outcasted teenage boy in a band, which maybe to an extent he was.
Gerard, on the other hand, was set on the idea that he had just fucked over any shot he had with you. And from what you had explained, you seemed like the perfect girl. Not only were you absolutely gorgeous to him, but you were kind, funny, and smart. And you seemed to have some tom boy in you, which only made you that much more attractive to him to send him mind into overdrive. He wasn’t sure that the perfect girl ever existed, until you walked in.
And he was shocked that you were single. Sure, you had a lot on your plate and probably not enough time for a relationship, but any boy or man would be insanely lucky to have you. But there he stood, mentally punching himself at how stupid he acted. And ideally he would have gone and ranted to the guys, but the moment Frank heard he was interested in you, he knew he was dead meat. Frank may have only been 5′6 but he could pack a punch if he wanted to.
And besides, you were eight years younger than him. And while that didn’t matter to him, and clearly to you it didn’t either, that would most likely be looked down upon by most other people. “It’s pretty obvious.” Mikey came up to him behind the stage, “You’re just going to have to deal with the wrath of Frank eventually.” The two looked over at the short man who was clearly pissed in some way.
It wasn’t until that night at the concert that your worries fluttered away. You had invited a few friends, who were all jumping, screaming, and dancing as you did the same in the pit. Gerard had taken the crowd by his hand with ease starting with their opener, and flawlessly sang and entertained everyone. You were genuinely having the time of your life, and even when the show ended you were still riding high from the buzz of adrenaline that the show gave.
You ran back stage, giving Frank a hug and he hugged you back. “You guys did awesome!” You sighed out, still in awe with a huge smile on your face. “It was absolutely incredible.”
“Thanks, Y/N/N.” Frank smiled back down at you.
“Y/N/N?” Ray asked, with a confused look.
“Yeah, it’s been her name in the family since she was like two.”
“Okay, Y/N/N.” Ray smiled at you and you smiled back. You couldn’t help but look over Ray’s shoulder, seeing Gerard standing back with Mikey drinking lots of water, for obvious reasons. You briefly excused yourself to go talk to them.
“Hey,” You walked up to Gerard and smiled, he immediately looked back, putting his water down and smiling back at you tiredly. “You did awesome.” You preached, “Like, actually, you did insane.” “Thanks.” He lightly laughed, “Glad you enjoyed.” You nodded. “Hey Mikey.” You looked at the skinny boy who waved back.
“You did pretty great too.” “Thanks.” He smiled, saying goodbye and departing from the two of you shortly after. Gerard pulled out a box of cigarettes, taking one in his mouth, and motioning them towards you, a way of asking. You shook your head.
“I’m alright, thanks.” He nodded, pulling a lighter out of his pocket and lighting the stick. He took a deep breath in, letting the smoke come out through his mouth only a few moments later.
“So you don’t smoke?” He asked next, casually. You shook your head, “Smart.” He lightly smiled. “It’s pretty fucking annoying.” You lightly laughed.
“Thanks for the advice.” You smiled.
Only a few seconds later you were called out by the rest of the guys, sitting outside their tour bus and drinking some beer. You noticed Gerard had none, and opted for just some water, you doing the same instead. For you it was pretty obvious, you were 20 and weren’t of the legal age to drink. But for Gerard it would seem off to most people, but of course Frank had told you all about how only a few months prior he was an alcoholic and had gotten sober, so naturally you didn’t blame him one bit for skipping out on the alcohol.
“Hey Y/N, want some?” One of the guys on tour asked. You shook your head. “Oh c’mon, it’ll be fun!” The guy continued to insist.
“Nah, I’m alright.” You said. It was pretty annoying when guys asked you to drink, because you knew that it was to get you to a point of being drunk only to get laid. Or even worse, the fear that the drink could be laced. Either way, you weren’t taking a chance.
“Are you sure-” “Hey man, back off.” Gerard, who was sitting next to you, spoke, “She said no.” “I’m pretty sure she can speak for herself.” The dude smirked and fired back, thinking he did something.
“And she already did speak. She said no.” He said firmly, more aggressive this time, “You’re on this fucking tour because you’ve been hired by my band. So I would suggest you leave her the fuck alone before you lose your job, buddy.” Gerard snapped. The other guys eyes just went wide, walking away in surrender.
“You didn’t have to do that, ya know?” You looked over at him, and he gave you a confused look, “Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate it, but it happens all the time.”
“Well it shouldn’t.” He sighed, “But you’re smart enough to know that. No offense, and this is not meant to be sexist, but a lot of girls your age don’t know that.” “Yeah, I know,” You admitted, “I’ve seen it happen one too many times.” Both of you obviously became slightly uncomfortable with the situation at hand, prompting Gerard to begin another conversation.
“So what do you like to do?” He asked, “Outside of school, of course.” “I don’t know,” You sighed, “I love to write, I have since I was younger. Reading goes a long with that, I’ve read comics since I was a kid too. I know that probably sounds stupid but-” “You read comics?” He asked, slightly shocked. You nodded, “What kinds?” “I started out with Marvel, since my dad collected Marvel as a kid. Then I got into DC, Watchmen in specific, I never got into the Justice League because I didn’t really see the relevance of it, but I liked the Avengers a lot.” He nodded and smiled.
“That’s pretty cool, ya know. Not really stupid in my book.” He lightly laughed, “I actually went to school to be a comic book writer.” “Really?” You asked, adjusting yourself in your seat and he nodded. “No way.” “Yeah, I did. But it was a rough time in the comics industry and nothing really worked out.” You nodded, understanding.
“Do you still do anything with comics?” You asked next.
“Yeah, I do.” He said, “In my free time I love to draw, I have this current project I’m working on, I’m not sure what it’s going to be called, but it’s like this weird super hero family type thing, but they’re all adopted, and this guys makes his kids a super hero team? That probably doesn’t make a lot of sense.” You lightly laughed.
“Not totally, but what I get from it, it sounds pretty awesome.” You admitted, “I think that would be pretty cool, and original. Which is something everyone wants when it comes to comics.” He nodded.
“It probably wouldn’t be hard to get it published now with this whole band thing.” You nodded.
“Well, if you ever need a second opinion on it, don’t hesitate to ask. Although I know it can sometimes be hard to show off your work.”
“I’ll definitely take you up on that.” He smiled. You got a vibration from your phone, which you checked. It was one of your friends, but glancing at the time your anxiety rose.
“Shit,” You muttered, “Hey, so I know we were just starting to actually talk and all, and I really don’t want to end that, but I kinda have to get back and-” “Hey, hey, don’t worry.” Gerard lightly smiled, “You’re really busy. It’s totally fine.” “You sure?” You asked again and he nodded.
“Yeah, of course.” He nodded, “Here, let me at least walk you out to your car.” “No, you don’t have to do that-” “Trust me, it’s alright.” He insisted, getting up and walking besides you under the night sky.
“It was really great meeting you.” You smiled up at Gerard as you two stood outside your car.
“You too, Y/N.” He smiled down. “This may be too soon, and it probably is, but I asked for your number after like five minutes of knowing you so I guess we are moving fast. Anyways, I’m rambling.” He stuttered a little, “But would you want to go out with me sometime.” You smiled.
“Yeah, of course.” You responded, “Just text or call me and we’ll work something out.” “Oh, okay, awesome.” He smiled. “Bye Y/N. Get home safe, okay?” “Bye, Gerard, and I will.” You said and got into your car.

Hi Mack! I'm curious what your thoughts are on Frank's solo stuff in terms of its trajectory. In the interview with Zack Sang (sp?), he is asked if starting over from scratch was important to him (ie, doing small shows, being an opener, no state of the art buses, etc). The interviewer said that if Frank had wanted, any manager would have made sure he had a head start. I'm paraphrasing but that's what I got from that section of the interview. Anyway, the important part is how Frank answered the question. He basically brushes it off and acts like there were no options, he just had to start over and it makes me wonder... like in his mind, does he doubt his talents/career so much that he can't see that as an option OR was that legit not an option for him. To him he had to start over from the bottom and earn his way up and I wonder if that's partly a comfort level thing AND partly an "I'm not good enough without MCR" thing AND partly the type of people he works with (who presumanly aren't a bunch of sycophants). I think Frank is quite humble and I don't think it's an act but what do you think?
If you compare his solo stuff to Gerard (and I think you'll know more about this than me too) did Gerard headline most of his shows during Hesitant Alien? Do you think that was important to Gerard? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
ok so hmmmm. like to your one point, YES frank doubts his talents and fans. like not doubts us but like, i think anytime he announced a show or a tour he has like half a mind thats worried that no one will buy tickets and no one is going to show up. which is like stupid, especially as time goes on and we repeatedly prove over and over that we're going to show up for him, but yea he's still like that. like in the 'in conversation with frank iero' kerrang interview on youtube, its an interview from 2019 where he like sat on a couch with the interviewer and there were like. 30? i cant estimate like that. but there were a handful of fans like just standing there as an audience. and he SAYS that when he parked the car he was like 'well what if nobody showed up?' and he actually said the same thing at my frist frank show which was an acoustic in jersey in 2016, he said something like 'i wasnt sure if anyone was gonna show up today' and i was like ???? and i legit argued with him about it after the show but he was like 'i just never know' so yea. he doubts himself constantly.
anyway like about the solo thing and like small shows and being an opener and stuff like. i think thats just to do with the size of his fanbase. i did watch the zach sang interview like last week and im not sure i agree that it could have happened much differently. frank has done opener AND headliner tours throughout all of his solo eras. it just depends on the size of the band that he wants to tour with. and i think the thing about frank is that like he's ok with being an opener if he's playing with friends of his who are more established or have a bigger following that his solo stuff does. and like of course he could have been like "im frank iero from my chemical romance and im not gonna be an opener." but then he couldn't have toured with the used or tbs etc. idk like i don't think of that aspect as him thinking he's not good enough. cause he plays small shows and not all of them are sold out, or they don't all sell out right away. i think its just realistic?
and i never saw gerard solo but i think he did headline mostly? and he played bigger venues but also thats like, i mean i think gerard is more likely to be the "im gerard way of my chemical romance and im not going to open for someone else" type of guy. but also the bigger venues is reflective of his role as the singer and more well known member of mcr. like mcr fans know that frank is like co-spokesman for the band, but to the general public, they've heard of gerard. so yea. i hope this answered your question...

Summary: The sides do a Secret Santa... fluff and mild chaos ensue
Pairings: Platonic DRLAMP, Dukeceit/Demus, Logicality, Prinxiety
Warnings: A little bit of self-deprecating thoughts at the beginning, and some Remus being Remus
Genre: Fluff fluff fluff!
Credit:
@multi-fandoms-posts - Thanks for the suggestion! I took some creative liberties but this is based on a suggestion they gave me.
@voltsm - Thanks for the encouragement! This person is an INCREDIBLE artist, I highly recommend looking at their amazing amazing blog!
A/N: This is the first Sanders Sides one shot I've written in a while, but I think it turned out well! Please don't repost on different websites, but reblogs are greatly appreciated!
Remus paced his room, growling in frustration. His mind wandered back to the conversation all the sides had earlier.
"Let's do a Secret Santa!" Patton had said, looking like he was going to burst from excitement.
Roman nodded enthusiastically. "That's a great idea, padre!"
"I'm up for it if you guys are," Virgil replied with a shrug.
"I do believe that doing a Secret Santa could be beneficial to our mental and emotional health," said Logan, pushing up his glasses.
All of them looked at Janus and Remus, catching both of them off guard.
"You'd really be okay with us joining?" Remus asked.
"Of course! We are famILY, after all!" Patton responded happily. Remus looked at Janus, who simply shrugged.
"I think the Secret Santa is an awful idea and wouldn't like to participate," Janus said with a small smirk.
"Why not!" Remus happily agreed.
Yet here he was now, flopping on his bed, and ironically out of ideas. He summoned something to eat, and wasn't sure if it was deodorant, a sandwich, or some ungodly abomination of both. At this point he didn't care.
He stared at the faint strip of paper labeled "Janus." Each of them had grabbed a paper from Janus's hat, and Remus had been pretty excited when he got the name of his best friend. Until he couldn't figure out what to get him.
"I'm CREATIVITY, and I've been his friend the longest! I should know what to get him!" he angrily muttered to himself. "Who am I kidding... I'm just intrusive thoughts."
"Hey Rem-" Roman said, rising up in his brother's room. He instantly stopped when he saw the poorly disguised bags under Remus's eyes. "...you okay?"
"Not really," Remus mumbled into his blankets, "why'd you come?"
Roman paused for a second. "Wellll I was having some trouble coming up with a gift for the person I got, so I was wondering if you could help. However, it looks like your having some trouble too."
Remus looked up at Roman, noticing the bags he had under his eyes as well.
"Creative block," they both muttered at the same time.
Remus laughed for the first time in days. "Wow, even the creativity gets it," he said with a teasing smirk.
"I think you mean creativities. We are both creativity, after all!" Roman happily replied. He began ranting about something he was trying to make, but Remus didn't hear a word.
Both creativity, he thought as he began to smile again, he thinks we're both creativity?
"Rem? Remus?" Roman asked.
"Oh, sorry! What'd you say? Remus asked, snapping out of his thoughts.
"What should I get Virgil?" Roman asked again.
"Virgil?"
"Yeah, Gerard Gay isn't the best at dropping hints at what he wants."
"Hm... what do you know he likes? Put yourself in his shoes. Or his-"
"MUSIC HE LIKES MUSIC!" Roman quickly interrupted. "He likes listening to music!"
Remus laughed a loud, full, laugh, making Roman smile and laugh a little as well. "If you were Virgil, what would you want?"
Roman pondered the question for a couple minutes, then suddenly shot up with an idea. "OH! I KNOW WHAT TO GET HIM! Thanks Remus!"
"No problem Roman, just remember to-" Remus began, then looked at Roman who narrowed his eyes in suspicion, "toooooo... wish him a Merry Christmas!"
"Nice save," Roman chuckled, making Remus beam. "Do you want some help figuring out what to give who you have?"
Remus sighed, mumbling a tired "I don't know," into his pillows.
"Hm... well just remember what you told me," Roman said, "what would you want if you were them?" Remus opened his mouth with a mischevious smirk, to which Roman added, "rule of thumb, if you wouldn't want Patton to get mad or pass out, don't give it as a gift." Remus immediately shut his mouth.
Remus sighed and groaned into his pillow, exhausted from having no ideas.
"Let's see... you can make things, summon things-" Roman started.
"Wait, summon things, like animals?" Remus asked.
"Of course! If you wanted to, that is. Although I'd suggest not making it lethal," Roman replied with a smile.
Remus grinned. "Thanks Ro, I think I have an idea!"
"That's great! Let me know if you'd like any help!"
"Thanks!"
Remus smiled to himself as Roman left, carefully working on his idea for Janus. He was certain it would be amazing.
~CHRISTMAS DAY~
"CHRISTMAS, CHRISTMAS, CHRISTMAS!" Patton excitedly shouted, waking everyone up in the process.
Patton had insisted on a sleepover on Christmas Eve, and none of them had the heart to deny the request.
Virgil yawned, failing to hide the small smile on his face as he noticed Roman stretch, hair messily falling down on his face.
"Nice bedhead Princey," Virgil teased.
Roman playfully glared, clutching his heart as if in agony.
"Why, Emo Nightmare, must you wound me like this? How could you DARE insist that, I, PRINCE Roman, have a-" he tilted his head back dramatically, causing him to see his reflection in a mirror and let out a very un-prince like squawk.
"I'll make the hot cocoa and then we can do the Secret Santa!" Patton exclaimed, rushing to the kitchen.
"I can assist you Patton," Logan offered, putting on his glasses.
"Thanks Logie!" Patton replied, making Logan blush at the nickname.
Remus and Janus slowly woke up as well, both a little excited although hesitant admit it.
"Well, this is not how I wanted to be woken up," Janus mumbled to himself with a soft smile on his face, oblivious to a blushing Remus looking at him. When he looked back and saw Remus staring at him, a faint blush spread behind his scales.
"Hey Janus, there's chaos and I didn't cause it!" Remus said, turning away to hide his blush.
"I'm not surprised, and I don't think you'll add to the chaos as soon as you can-" Janus began, only to see Remus already gone and probably eating something inedible.
After the chaos had died down (Roman brushed his hair and they dragged back Remus from eating Christmas lights), it was finally time for the Secret Santa to begin.
"Me first!" Patton said, rushing to grab the gift he had gotten. As soon as he found it he ran back to put it in Logan's lap. "This is my Secret Santa gift to you!"
"Do... do they know what a SECRET Santa is supposed to be?" Janus whispered to Remus who was sitting next to him, raising an eyebrow.
After taking a moment to collect himself, Logan carefully unwrapped the gift. Inside were multiple sci-fi series that he had been looking for.
"I knew you had been looking for those books, so I got them for you!" Patton exclaimed, voice nearly shaking from excitement.
For a moment, Logan was stunned into silence. However, he quickly recovered and replied with "t-thank you Patton, I deeply appreciate the thought put into this. I look forward to reading them."
Patton quietly peeped a quick "you're welcome," butterflies in his chest from the touched look on Logan's face. Logan suddenly turned back around, handing a small wrapped gift to Patton. "It's not the best, but I hope it's satisfactory."
Patton quickly looked up, momentarily caught up in the euphoria of gifts. He tore into the present to find a small, blue, crotche cat with a tiny heart on it's ear.
"Aww, Logan!!! This is purrrr-fect!"
Logan tried to roll his eyes at the pun, but couldn't keep a small laugh from escaping.
"Me next!" Roman sang dramatically, heading over to Virgil with a carefully wrapped gift and taking a seat next to him.
Virgil carefully opened his gift, slowly taking off the tape and removing the wrapping paper. Roman bounced up and down next to him, both in nervousness and excitement.
After what felt like forever to Roman, Virgil pulled out a dark purple set of headphones, with a black thorn pattern carved into them.
"Woah Princey... did you MAKE these?" Virgil asked, completely in shock at the care put into the headphones he held.
"Yep!" Roman responded giddily. "It took a lot of time, but I figured it out! The thorns were a last minute touch though. Oh! And they also block out other sounds, you had mentioned that your current headphones didn't do that a while ago."
Virgil, one of the most reserved sides, looked like he was on the verge of tears. "Thanks... I didn't realize you cared that much Roman," he said quietly, hiding his blushing face in his sleeves and gently leaning against him.
Roman gave him a soft, genuine smile as Virgil leaned against his arm. "Of course Stormcloud!"
"This is your present... it's awful compared to the headphones though..." Virgil mumbled, shyly taking his head out of his hands and giving Roman a shiny red bag with lots of tissue paper.
Roman being Roman, he quickly (and messily) opened up the gift, squealing when he pulled out a thin but elegant red crown. "It's a CROWN, put it on me, put it on me, put it on me!"
Virgil hesitantly put it Roman, who squealed impossibly louder after turning around and seeing his reflection in the mirror. "I love it!!!"
Roman hugged Virgil tightly, and after the initial shock, Virgil relaxed into the hug. To Roman's surprise, he stayed leaning against him even when the hug had ended. He didn't mind.
"Since it isn't obvious who your gift is from now, here's yours Remus," Janus said, handing a rather large bag to Remus.
Remus immediately tore into the bag, clawing his way in through the side instead of taking out the tissue paper. He gasped in astonishment when he pulled out a long, intricate sword, identical to the one of his logo.
"Woahhhh..." he whispered under his breath, admiring the sword. He looked up at Janus, a huge grin on his face. "Thanks!!"
Janus smiled, secretly relieved that Remus did enjoy his gift.
"I have your gift... I just didn't really have a way to wrap it," Remus said, a hint of nervousness in his voice. "So, uh, hold out your hands and close your eyes."
"Remus, is this something appropriate?"
"Yep!"
Janus raised an eyebrow but did as Remus had asked. A second later, he heard a collective gasp from around the room, followed by something placed in his hand.
"You can open your eyes now."
Janus slowly opened his eyes, shocked to find a small, yellow snake that fit in the palm of his hand. His eyes widened, and for a brief second his face shone like the universe had been placed in his eyes.
"You like it?" Remus asked.
Janus nodded vigorously, at a loss for words but as absolutely adoring the snake that slithered in his hand.
After opening the rest of the gifts, all the sides stayed together for a Christmas movie night. Patton was asleep on a dreaming Logan, and Virgil was asleep against a sleepy Roman who wrapped his arms around him.
"Hey, Janus?" Remus asked, yawning.
Janus looked over.
"Did... did you really like my gift?"
Janus smiled a true, genuine smile, reserved oy for Remus, and kissed Remus's forehead softly, making them both blush. "I loved it."
As Remus soon fell asleep against Janus, the slimey snake boi only had one thought.
Rigging the Secret Santa was definitely worth it.

He went to art school after he finished high school. They taught him some things. Gerard met a friend who introduce him to Ray Toro. Gerard art did well that he worked for cartoon network to make a tv show. Gerard was drawing for a show He was working on a show called the breakfast monkey show. Gerard and Ray made a song together for the show. The intro of the song. On September 11th 2001 Gerard went to New York for a final meeting for the tv show. On his way to the meeting he saw a plane hit a tower. Then another plane hit the other tower. Gerard watched people around him cry and with fear but Gerard said he didn't sad. He was afraid of what was going to happen to the world he though are you happy where your life is right now. Is this really important. So the meeting was canceled. Gerard went home and wrote the first MCR song "Skylines and turnstiles". Gerard met Oliver who worked at a bar he was his friend and he often chatted with him. Gerard asked him if he could be part of his band he was making.
[I]Ray toro:
Gerard called him. Ray haven't seen Gerard for a while since Gerard was always in his house avoiding human contact. He asked Ray if he could be part of his band. [I]Gerard way:
The band created a few songs then they went to eyeball records they were outside their door and they asked them if they could be signed they gave them their music for the label to hear. The label loved it so they signed them. A radio host who was there heard of the band and he said he will put them on the radio which he did and it gain them fans.
The band didn't have a name.
Gerard and Mikey worked in Barnes and novel. Gerard worked in the music area while mikey worked in the book area. Mikey one day looked behind a book and the reviews said tales of chemical romance so mikey thought what if you put my in front of it. Mikey told Gerard his idea and Gerard loved it he thought it fit the band with their music and the band in general.
[I]Frank iero:
Frank worked on a album for pencey prep once he was done they sign with eyeball record and started to do tours. Frank once went to a party and he saw a woman fighting with another woman she punch the girls face. Frank fell in love with the girl that girls name was jamia.
Frank heard of MCR since the label would gave random CDs to the bands part of the label. Frank said we often hear Mcr demos in the car when we go around town to do shows.
[B]Bullet era:
Gerard went to a bar with mikey and Alex from eye ball. They went for a drink. Gerard saw pencey prep playing their show. Gerard Said he was amazed by Frank who was destroying the stage with the energy he had he looked like he was playing for thousands of people and that was what the band needed. Gerard knew they needed a new guitarist since he couldn't play guitar. He met the kid and they became friends.
Pencey prep would often travel to many states in a podcast Frank said that pencey prep would work on their music in each other's parents basement. They rented a building in a warehouse which was shared with other bands they knew mcr during this time. They would play music in a small room in that place even one of the band members live in that place with some other band member of a different band. One day one of the members of pencey prep broken down the wall of the room they played in to make it bigger since it was 2 separated room they made it to one big room and that is where mcr did their album and other bands pencey prep invited. Gerard and Frank painted in that room together at night and the chemicals of the paint had made both Gerard and Frank high. They later on blame that another band that run a party and made a big mess broken down the wall and lying saying that they didn't actually break it. They did get away with it.
*casual interactions on YouTube podcast*

Gerard asked Frank if he could join the band since they needed a guitarist and Ray couldn't play every guitar part. Frank said yes you guys are my fave band. MCR created have already created a few songs without Frank but 3 songs on bullets had Frank in it. Like early sunset over Manhattan for example. Ray and Frank said their ways are different Ray was more the metal kid while Frank was the punk rock kid but it worked. Frank could play parts Ray couldn't play and Ray played parts Frank couldn't play.
I brought you my bullets you brought me your love was released in 2002. The radio host played the album on the radio. MCR opened for Thursday, taking back Sunday. Fans loved MCR and they gain fans. Soon MCR traveled outside the state's Gerard and mikeys grandma brought them a van for tour.
The band went on tour as they played for fans in small venues. Even the place was too small for the fans since many people wanted to see them. Brian their tour manager made Gerard meet the used. He met bert and thought he was crazy but they later on became good friends
(Very good friends they became boyfriends)
Gerard started drinking and doing drugs with bert. Frank and jamia became girlfriends and boyfriends. MCR were poor they didn't have much food or clothes. They said they were used to a hungry stomach. But other bands were kind enough to give food and clothes to them. Their album didn't make it to record stores. So fans didn't have a way to buy the CD it was limited. MCR didn't even have merch to sell. Gerard made his own merch called thank you for the venom.

He mess up often when playing so they kicked him out. They gotten Bob who he played in other bands as a dj and they didn't know he could play drums. Bob is from Chicago. He was all about tech and that is what the band needed. He joined the band.

Frank stayed in a room away from the other rooms, Rumor said that the actor of friends ran out the room screaming. Plus a singer made a song with a ghost. Frank said the room was fine but he heard stuff that he thought was a raccoon and he said if it's actually a ghost she has a bad voice. Water would often suddenly start in bobs room. While they often hear door slamming and saw a few ghost around. Gerard was going crazy he was writing words on the wall. There is fire in the video that Bob burned his leg he got a 2nd degree burn and the burn infected his face area that it enter his blood and he went to the hospital it almost went to his brain thankfully they saved him.
One day the band were in virgina with muse. Frank didn't go out for dinner since he is vegetarian and Gerard slept over that day (hmm it seems like something else huh)

I Wish (Prinxiety)
This goes out to everyone craving some Prinxiety like I am.
TW: mild panic, spoilers for the latest Asides, mention of a bad breakup
Part 2 here!
--------
“One more chance at happiness..... squandered.” Roman sighed, his expression going dark. “It’s probably for the best.” Virgil looked at Thomas, who was watching the cute guy walk away, then at Roman. He knew he needed to do something. Things hadn’t been great since the last episode, and this was the first time he had seen Roman truly excited about something in months. Virgil felt his breath quicken and his mind race, but he pushed his body toward Thomas and shoved him right towards the cutie.
And they began to talk. Virgil began to take deep breaths, zoning out a bit. Then he heard the cute guy speak.
“...My. Gosh. You should have just said hi!” Virgil and Roman froze.
“O-oh, yeah?” Thomas stuttered.
“Yeaah... I had writers block anyway.” Virgil smiled to himself as Thomas and the cutie, who’s name was apparently Nico Florres, continued their conversation. Now he could focus on his breathing. There was a lot of nervous laughter. Then, Nico smiled, picked up the Karrot King bag, and said, “Well, let’s not waste this one.” Roman’s eyes lit up and a wide, excited grin spread across his blushing face.
“Shut up.”
“Shut up!” Virgil turned to watch the scene before him. “Thank you.” Virgil turned to Roman, startled by his words.
“Uh, you’re welcome, I guess? In all honesty, I really don’t know what that was.” Roman stared at him, huffed a bit, and placed his hand on Virgil’s shoulder. Then he smiled softly, eyes shining, like he always did when they were dating. And, just like those old times, before Roman even knew Virgil’s name, Virgil’s stomach erupted with butterflies.
“Bravery.” Virgil’s face flushed, and he huffed a bit, flustered.
“What? No. I--I--”
“Shut up, emo,” Roman said affectionately. They turned to watch Thomas and Nico again, Roman’s hand still on Virgil’s shoulder.
***
Virgil smiled at Roman and Thomas. “I’m gonna head up to my room. I’ll see you guys later.” Thomas and Roman smiled and waved.
“Bye, Virgil!”
“See you soon, Gerard Gay!” Virgil chuckled and sunk out. He did love that particular nickname. He sighed as he flopped onto his bed, smiling at the ceiling. He then sat up and slid off the bed, then lifted the mattress. He pulled a small photo album off the slats and sat on the floor with it, flipping through the photos. He smiled at all the images of him and Roman together, holding hands, sharing gentle cheek kisses, and doing various romantic things in the Imagination. In all of them, he was wearing his old hoodie, and in a few of them, his eyeshadow was very sparkly purple. He’d almost forgotten it could do that.
He missed Roman. Their breakup had been pretty bad, and then they hadn’t really interacted for years before Virgil’s first appearance in Sanders’ Sides, though it still hurt every time he’d heard Roman mutter, “Ugh, this guy,” or, “I don’t like him,” under his breath. But things had gotten.... better. And today was proof of that. “I wish.....” Virgil whispered under his breath. What did he wish for? Roman back? Did he?
He could think of a million reasons why that couldn’t happen. Things were actually okay between them, and Virgil didn’t want to screw it up, he didn’t know if Roman and Janus were still a thing, he didn’t know if Roman missed him, too, and what’s to say that if he did, and they got back together, things wouldn’t end exactly the way they did before, and push Roman away from him forever, etc., etc.
“I wish....” What did he wish for?
***
Roman sighed, resting his head on his desk. He smiled as he thought about that afternoon at the mall. And Nico! Nico, Nico, Nico! He could see bright things in Thomas’s future. Romantic things. Roses. Kisses in the rain. Dinner in France. He glanced at the picture frame in front of him. It was laying upside down on its flat side. He turned it over and sat up. He studied the photo of him and Janus kissing under the door to his bedroom in the rain that night they went on a walk in the Imagination and Roman thought it would be romantic for them to be drenched. He removed that photo to reveal one of him and Virgil. Virgil was in his old hoodie, sleeping on Roman’s shoulder after a long day of getting Thomas through high school. He smiled. Those days had been the best. Virgil’s eyeshadow was often a brilliant, glittery purple like it was today. Roman had missed seeing it. He missed Virgil. “I wish,” Roman sang softly. What did he wish for? Virgil to come back? To try and fix all the mistakes they’d made when they were together?
He could think of a million reasons why that couldn’t happen. The one at the very front of his mind was that he and Janus hadn’t technically broken up yet. Even if they hadn’t spoken in five months. But the thing with that was, Janus called every night still. At first, he’d left long, teary voicemails apologizing endlessly and begging Roman to call back. He’d also texted Roman constantly, looking for some sort of reassurance that Roman was safe and taking care of himself. Roman had thought about texting him back and saying that he couldn’t talk to Janus right now, but that would mean he had to talk to him, and he couldn’t do that. Eventually, the texting stopped, and the voicemails turned into two sentence summaries of what had happened that day and a request that Roman call him back.
And, like clockwork, Roman’s phone rang, and, like he expected, it was Janus. He stared at it a moment, then sighed and picked it up.
“Hey,” he said.
“Roman, thank God you’re alive! But what the hell? Why didn’t you answer my calls? Or my texts? Couldn’t you have let me know you were at least safe, even if you weren’t really okay?”
“I didn’t think you cared that much,” Roman spat, anger rising in him. Mostly towards Janus, but also at himself, because even after five months, he wasn’t ready for this, and he knew that, but he had answered anyway. He sighed. “Look, Janus, I’m sorry, but I’m going to go now. I shouldn’t have taken your call.”
“Wait. Please.” Roman sighed, but stayed on the line. “I’m really, really sorry about what I said five months ago. I know how much you hate being compared to Remus, and I had no excuse to lash out the way I did, especially with the way things had been going.”
“I know,” Roman said. “But it doesn’t change anything.”
“I know.” Janus’s voice broke, and Roman felt tears welling up in his eyes. Wasn’t it enough that he cried himself to sleep every night? “What are we going to do now?” Roman hesitated.
“I--” He tried to hold back the tears, but they fell anyway. “I’m sorry, I--”
“Shh, don’t apologise. It’s okay. Call me when you’re ready, okay?”
“I don’t know if I’ll ever be. Bye, Janus.”
“Are you breaking up with me?”
“.... Yeah. I think so.”
“O-okay. I’ll see you around.” Roman hung up. He covered his face and sobbed. “I wish.” What did he wish for?
Across the hallway, Virgil and Roman both sat in their rooms, the emotions weighing them down indescribable. “I wish,” they both said at the same time, unbeknownst to them.
“I wish Virgil/Roman and I hadn’t broken up.”
