i wish i could escape to eddie's when i feel out of place at my dad's house. eddie would call it "our trailer" and "our room." he would give me a side of his bed and he'd call it "my side." he would give me drawers to keep clothes in. i'd ask if i could go get something to drink or something to eat and he'd say "you know you don't have to ask. this is your home too," and he'd mean it. i would belong there.

(more) regarding max brinly,

max is a silly goofy guy but he’s not real life irresponsible. he gets to places on time, keeps his word, has a monthly budget he stays in 99% of the time. when he does splurge it’s on silly things. he bought a pair of those long distance color lamps for him and laura even though they aren’t long distance, so he could turn her room into a rave when he misses her.

despite a general upbeat attitude he does suffer from impatient disease sometimes. he’s just also very quick to self correct when he’s at all snappy and he’s very genuine in his apologies, so it’s easy to overlook.

he’s an only child to a single mom, he’s not incredibly close with his family but also not on bad terms or anything. he’s a good sport about pulling up to family events and he is the favorite cousin of a lot of tiny children.

at least prior to the events of the camp he enjoyed horror/thriller/suspense movies a lot. i think in the aftermath he will be sticking to comedies and disney movies.

he likes having something to do / focus on and gets restless when he doesn’t. for this reason among many others the jail cell was particularly grueling. i really do think he talked laura’s ear off 24/7.

he is learning spanish on the duolingo app. he lost his 235 day streak because a policeman kept him locked in a jail cell for 2 months ):
