I'm desperately trying to look for the specific model of Lotus that you referenced in the first of the Young Wizard series. I've been wanting to draw a storyboard for a long while for it and for some reason Google is useless.
It's this one: the Lotus Turbo Esprit. Lovely, lovely thing that it was...

(Sorry, the YouTube video seems to have failed to insert correctly. But check it out:  https://youtu.be/CQnOusKNDKs)
...Later in the eighties they softened its lines down. But this is the one that made me stop and stare when I passed by the Lotus showroom in Manhattan in ‘81...

You know, we all talk about Sasuke being objectified by people in the series, but we rarely (or never?) talk about Itachi being objectified just as bad by everyone. From the first moment he gained his senses, he became an object, a tool his clan, his dad, his village could use to gain some brownie points.
His father took him, a four-year-old boy, to the battlefield, who had no business being there in the first place. He was just an object to be prepared in order to be able to be used as the clan head's son. In their eyes, he was supposed to have no heart to break, no soul to be damaged. He was only a tool they could use.
When he grew up, his words, demanding peace and peaceful negotiations, had no value in the clan's eyes, but he must be ready to spy on the government for their sakes. His feelings didn't matter. His opinions didn't matter. They sent one of their own to spy on him.
This 11 year old wasn't supposed to have feelings. Right?
Sasuke, Sakura, Naruto, even Kakashi, Rin, and Obito - who had been in the battlefield - at the age Itachi was, we probably would consider it cruel and inhuman to put any of them in place Itachi was. But somehow, it occurred to no one that a 12-13 year old boy should be treated as a human instead of being sent as a spy or forced to kill his own parents.
As long as he was useful to the clan, he was treasured, but the moment he developed his own ideals and began to value peace to the violent measures the clan was about to take, he was treated like crap.
The Leaf is the worst. Imagine sending a 12-13 year old kid to kill his own parents and take many more innocent lives. Imagine telling him if he doesn't do it the war that he fears so much will start. Imagine doing nothing at all to stop the war on your own while you have thrice the experience of this kid's age. Imagine thrusting the burden of the nation, the village, and even the whole Shinobi world on this kid's little shoulders.
From the moment Itachi witnessed the deaths in the third world war, he became a part of the larger scheme of things. He wanted to stop the wars permanently, stop violence, and bring peace in the world. And he was repeatedly put in the harsh situations that demanded nothing but the absolute evisceration of his soul. No one ever asked him what he wanted. His ideals, his fears, his love - all of it was used against him. He stood between the clan and the village (eventually until he had to choose one). Then he stood between the Akatsuki and the village, guarding the ungrateful world that held the wrong perception of him. A world that judged him for the things he was forced into.
However. This does not mean he had no responsibility in his own actions. But the truth is, if he had no better options, he had to go with the limited ones he had. No one ever paused for a moment to think he deserved something better. Maybe love and affection. Maybe some comfort as well.
As soon as his mission was done, he was discarded by the Leaf as well. He bore the burden of their crimes, their failures, and in the end lived a thankless, unrewarded life. To the Akatsuki, he became someone that could be easily replaced. When he died, no one mourned. No one cared. If Sasuke hadn't found out about him, there would have been no one who would think of him.
Now, years later, he's been forgotten. Who remembers him except for Sasuke anyway? In the documents, he is still registered as a dangerous criminal.
All his life, he was treated as an object. Even in death, he's not found the recognition he deserved.

I started writing a fic based on this post and then halfway through I stopped and then I started a completely diffferent fic also based on the same post. I would just like for one of them to be finished so I can post it. Just for fun, here's random unedited extract from the second one I started. I think this might be the one I actually finish because I like the silliness of it.
“I like sex,” Aziraphale sighed. His eyes were closed and he had that blissed out smile on his lips again.
Crowley laughed.
“I noticed.” He paused and then added, “No sex in heaven though.” Well, he was a demon.
Aziraphale glared at him.
“Shut up.”
He sat up, pushing Crowley along with him until they were both upright.
“I think you should miracle us to the bedroom,” he said and then giggled like a small child who had just said a naughty word. It was rather endearing.
Of course, he was hardly going to tell him that so instead Crowley raised a questioning eyebrow.
“Oh yes?”
“Yes. I like sex and the bed is a lot more comfortable.”
Crowley chuckled.
“Is this a ‘three days till the end of the world thing?’”
Aziraphale pursed his lips and glared again.
“I do wish you’d stop mentioning that.”
Crowley raised his hands in a defensive shrug.
“I don’t see why I should miracle us upstairs,” he complained, “I miracled the lube.”
“Oh good Lord.” Aziraphale rolled his eyes, and then started looking around. “Ah ha!” he said eventually and wriggled out from under Crowley so he could climb off the table and retrieve something from the floor. He held it up with a triumphant smile and Crowley just had time to realise it was the bottle of lube before Aziraphale turned and started to head out of the room.
“Are you…?” Crowley said, the words dying on his lips as he realised that, yes, Aziraphale was.
Aziraphale laughed and didn’t stop walking.
“The blinds are closed,” he said, “And you wouldn’t miracle us upstairs.”
So he was going to walk naked through the bookshop. Crowley didn’t know why that seemed so funny, but considering the amount of clothing they both usually wore seeing the angel walking around completely naked was rather novel.
“Are you coming?” Aziraphale was already climbing the stairs, Crowley could hear his bare feet on the treads. He rolled his eyes and considered miracling himself upstairs, just to annoy the angel. On the other hand…
He darted out the room, catching up with Aziraphale just as he reached the top of the stairs and seizing him round the waist.
“You’re ridiculous,” he said, pressing against Aziraphale’s back and dropping kisses over the pale skin of his neck and shoulders. Aziraphale hummed in delight and rolled his head to the side to give Crowley better access.
“I do actually mean it about the bed,” he murmured, when Crowley started kissing a little more insistently.
“Fine, angel. Come on then.” Reluctantly Crowley removed his lips and let the angel go. Aziraphale grabbed his hand and with a delighted giggle pulled him towards the bedroom.

Wait one mother-loving second...
I was just scanning through the thousands of screenshots I took of Laws of Attraction (not quite that many but it feels like it) when this photo:
Tumblr media
reminded me I said this after ep 5:
Tumblr media
And it may not have been by the actual hands of Charn but Thatthep did get stabbed in the end (by people in red!) and most likely because of Charn's influence. Not only that but someone broke apart the red plastic bowl - not the blue one next to it - into a shiv, a makeshift knife, to stab him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I had wondered why they didn't just drown Thatthep, but thought they probably just wanted to make him suffer more...but damn it I was absolutely right. Charn (indirectly) stabbed Thatthep in the end.
And so I think I deserve this:

This is an interesting moment. I remembered that I expected him to say "no", and now that I have re-watched that scene, I understand why. There is quite a visible hesitation (I would find that fishy if I was Bronwyn).
Question is - why?
He's still in repentant stage and this is his last test that he didn't pass (unlikely; if there ever WAS a repentant stage, I think it ended with his decision to sail to Middle-Earth).
He knows he's an impostor (and the line of the kings was broken ages ago) and doesn't want to be exposed as one.
He wants to go to Eregion, and being stuck in the Southlands as King is not exactly the best way how to go about it.
If you have other ideas, please share!

so out of curiosity. what ISNT tf
Unserious answer: Cisformation
Serious answer: Actually cisformation is kind of correct- the changing or rearranging of things or components of something or someone while the central core and identity of what it is or what it's for stays the same, is by definition not TF, or transformation.
Autistic answer: I've honestly been internally rationalizing so many little things as being TF in my everyday life that it took me a while to think of an answer for this question. I try to keep the more Out There rationalizations regarding this outside the blog when making judgments over what's TF, and keeping to things that can be more easily understood without reaching, but it's also just Fun for me to play with these ideas on my own time. Someone posting a weight loss or gain journey on instagram is TF, baking a cake from scratch is TF, even changing clothes being TF- there's arguments to be made and all, especially when factoring the psychological or emotional dimension to them, but thinking outside of that for a moment....
What really defines TF is the Change that occurs to someone or something, so even when accounting for the potential broader definitions regarding what kinds of change is or isn't TF, something that has no change to it in the First place would not be TF. So, static characters who stay the same and don't really change over the course of a given period of time, or tools that have a set function and are generally left alone until the next time they're used, and the like, are not TF.

(whispering...) Psst...
If anyone missed this (the whole store for $44) sale last week for whatever reason:
The EVERY24 discount code is alive again for the next (checks watch) 20 hours. Knock yourselves out. :) (You can just go to the version of the product page that has the discount built in and run through checkout... the discount will implement itself on the payment page.)
:)
(and once more, UK folks: as the earlier sale pages would have said, unfortunately we can no longer sell directly to you because of the way HMC&E have structured inbound sales regulations post-Brexit. We hate this, but there’s nothing we can do about it, and the store has therefore been instructed not to allow you to complete sales. Please see this page at the Ebooks Direct site for the details of the whole sad story. Our apologies again.)

Tag Game
Rules: Post the last 7 lines from your current WIP, then tag 7 people!
I was tagged by @aeide and @sleeplessincarcosa Thank you both🤍
Here's what I was tinkering with a couple days ago (before the spreadsheet took over my life *grumble*). Towards the end of the novel I have a few scenes that I've already written, though I don't know if they'll stay in the final version. (Yes, in 3rd person - that will have to be changed lol yay)
~~~
‘Arity – what’s that?’ She opened her eyes and looked up at him, then followed his eyeline to the painting that was leaning against the wall underneath the window. She’d forgotten she’d propped it there a few days earlier. It was him – or the beginnings of a painting of him. She rarely painted portraits, because she’d always had trouble capturing enough of a likeness for her own tastes – but she'd decided that she was content with the face. She said, ‘It’s not finished – but I guess you could say it’s an homage to masculine beauty.’ He snorted, resting his forehead against her shoulder for a moment, laughing silently. Then he looked at her, his eyes charmingly crinkled at the corners, and said, ‘I’m just glad it’s not a nude. I’d hate to wake up to that.’
Tagging seven people, some of whom I know have been writing in the past but I'm not sure if you are currently - just if you feel like sharing, - no pressure! @my-soliloquy-chamber @erzsebetrosztoczy @theinkandthesea @i-gotta-get-normaller @ladyinthebluebox @merelyafigment @nemo-of-house-hamartia
