Thomas had seen the girl around. She worked at the garrison, showed up one random day, no one knew where she was from. Most people didn’t bat an eye, most people aren’t Thomas Shelby.
“We’re closed” she said as he walked through the door. He ignored her for the most part and set down.
“Get me a drink.” he practically mumbled, to anyone else that would mean to just do as he says, and not ask questions. Not her though.
“Is everything alright, Mr. Shelby?” She asked in the kind of voice one would use to come off as caring.
“Just need to not think for a moment.” He said as she finished pouring his drink. “Where did you come from?”
“What do you mean?” She asked him with a slight head tilt as she handed his drink to him.
“You showed up out of nowhere one day, no one knows anything about you.”
“Are you asking about me, Mr. Shelby?”
“Yes, I am, I need to know the people in this town, who my threats may be.” He said while taking a sip of the drink she poured for him, and keeping eye contact, something he did to be intimidating.
“Do I look like a threat to you?” She asked with a small laugh. She looked like the most terrifying threat that Thomas could think of. She looked like an angel, one that was sent just for him, Thomas could swear that when she smiled she glowed.
“I have learned that the most non threatening looking people can become the most deadly.” He said while not phasing one bit. “Now, where are you from?”
The girl sighed, Thomas could tell that wherever it was that she came from that she didn’t really want to relive it. “I’m from london”
A few weeks went by, and that seemed to be all the information that he could get out of her. That she was from London. He didn’t want to push her, everytime he asked her, she got a look in her eyes that he hated to see, as if it tore his heart into a thousand little pieces. He knew that no matter what it was, someone, or something had hurt her, and how anyone could hurt such a person was beyond Thomas.
One afternoon while everyone other than Thomas was out of the Shelby home, there was a sudden banging on the door.
“Who is- (Y/n)?” Thomas asked while pulling the girl into the home. Once he had her inside with the door shut he took in her appearance. Her eyes were red and puffy, as if she had been crying for days. She looked almost sick, as if she hadn’t eaten in days. Her hair was messy, and she was shaking from head to toe. “What’s wrong?”
“I- Oh Mr. Shelby, if you were about to head out, I can leave. I shouldn't have barged in.” She said as she noticed him taking his jacket back off. She went to leave, but Thomas grabbed her wrist.
“I’m not letting you leave until you tell me what happened.” He said while looking at her sternly. He led her to sit on the couch while he stood over her, waiting to hear what happened.
“I haven’t told you much about my family, but I come from a wealthy family in London, and they wanted me to marry this cruel, cruel man, so the night before the wedding I ran, and that's how I ended up here, but I think they’ve found me.” She said while handing him a flier with a drawing of her face, and a man's contact information on it, and a reward of $5,000 on it for anyone that had any information.
“This is the name of the cruel man that you were talking about?” Thomas asked her while he pointed to the name on the flier as she nodded. “Where are you staying?”
“A small inn not too far from here.” She said while trying to wipe her eyes but failing at it since she was still crying.
“Get your things, you’re staying here, and I’ll take care of it.” He said, while putting his jacket back on.
“Mr. Shelby, I can‘t do that, I have no money to pay you for this, or the rent.” She said while standing up , but Thomas cut her off.
“You don’t have to pay me for any of it, just come on, and we’ll go get your things.” He said while guiding her out of the house, and walking with her to her inn.
A week went by and the girl was now living with the Shelbys, and it was safe to say that they loved having her around. Ada loved having a girl other than Polly to talk to. John and Arthur had a great time teaching her how to play cards the correct way (and showing her how to shoot a gun, but Thomas didn’t need to know about that). Polly loved how she helped keep the boys in their places when they got too rowdy. And, Thomas loved, well everything.
She was in the kitchen, kicking Arthur and Johns’ asses at cards, when Thomas walked in.
“Tommy, she's cheating!” John yelled while pointing at her.
“I am not!” She yells back at John in a tone that makes her sound offended.
“She isn’t, you’re just awful at cards.” Thomas said to John, while he looked at the girls cards. “Lucky for you though, I need to steal her for a moment.”
Thomas takes the girl into the betting room since no one was currently there. “I just wanted to tell you that it’s been taken care of.” He says while leaning back on the table.
“Really?! Oh Mr. Shelby, thank you so much!” The girl said while practically bouncing up and down, making Thomas crack a small smile, but it quickly disappeared as she made her next comment.
“I will just get my things, and be out of your hair, thank you so much for letting me stay here, Mr. Shelby.” She said while looking at him, with a small smile.
“You don’t have to move out.”
“Oh, but I can’t do that to your family.”
“(Y/n)” Thomas said, making her stop. He made his way across the room to her. “The whole family loves having you here, besides, it’s not like the entire city doesn’t already see you as a Shelby.”
“The city sees me as a Shelby?” The girl questioned with a slight smile on her face.
“They might as well, I mean it’s not like one of us Shelby brothers are not going to officially make you one at some point.” He said to her, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. “Just depends on which one of us is your preference.”
“Well, I think I have a preference.” She said to him, while leaning slightly closer to him,
“Which one?” he said, looking straight at her.
“The one standing in front of me. The man that saved me” She said to him, looking up at him with a smile.
Thomas stared at her for just a moment, before taking her face in his hands and catching his lips with hers. She kissed him back, with her hands on the back of his neck.
“I think you’re saving us too, I’ve never seen the family so happy.” He mumbled into her lips as he pulled away
“Well, I guess it can go both ways.” She said to him while smiling at him, and for the first time, she felt completely safe.

Logan Sargeant - London Boy
Welcome to the “Besties for the Resties” series, the backstories to the reader’s friendship with the other drivers. Now, I won’t be doing a single chapter all of them because that’s a lot, so some of them will have a joined chapter. You can’t please everyone, but for the sake of the storyline, there needs to be a few chapters as to how you became good friends with the grid! Enjoy and don’t forget to comment!
PA - I also did the head cannons before I wrote these so they might not exactly match, so I apologize!
It had been a few weeks since the winter break started. Which meant it was time to hunt for apartments across the world. Well, in two countries.
Max and Christian had been able to convince you to find a small place in Monaco so that you wouldn’t be too alone all the time. It was nice and comfortable. Way better than the one you had in Nice. That apartment had never felt like home to you. It was just a place to sleep whenever you had to go to Dams for testing.
Arthur was thrilled when he also heard the news. You strategically had found a place that was in between Max’s place and where Arthur lived. The area was clean and a few cafés littered the shops around you. You knew that you’d spend most of your time there when you were there.
But right now, you were back in London, trying to find a flat for when you needed to do team testing. As of right now, there were two more places that you needed to look and you wished that one of them would be perfect for you.
However, as you were walking, your nose picked up on an amazing scent. Turns out, there was a Starbucks around the corner and you were in desperate need of some coffee. You pulled your jacket closer to your chest as you entered the store. You were immediately hit with the smell of coffee beans and pastry items. You stood in line in front of a tall blond. But your ears must have been tricking you because you definitely heard a familiar American accent.
The barista asked for his name.
“It’s Logan.”
You let out a quick gasp as he turned to the left to go wait for his coffee. You took a step and ordered your favorite drink and a chocolate croissant. When the barista asked for your name, you told her a little quietly. You glanced over as you paid, eyes on where Logan stood. You shuffled over after you paid.
Not drawing attention to yourself, you stood a little behind him. You had the most amazing plan.
You tapped him on the shoulder and said, “Sir, can you tell me what a kilometer is?” Before he recognized it was you, he stiffened and thought the worst, a fangirl had found him.
But as he turned to answer, his eyes lit up at the sight of you.
“You are ridiculous.” He brought you in for a hug. You squeezed him tight before he let go. “What are you doing here?”
“I am trying to find an apartment, but I needed coffee before I went to the next one,” you said as you grabbed a straw.
Logan laughed before grabbing his coffee that had been set on the counter as the two of you talked. “How long are you here for?”
“Just until I find somewhere to stay. Pre-season testing doesn’t start for another couple of weeks, but I need it by then. Nice is too far and my apartment in Monaco won’t be ready until later.” He nodded as you went ahead and grabbed your drink, pushing the straw into it.
Logan took a sip of his drink. “You have any other plans for tonight?” You shook your head and that got him thinking. “Ok hear me out. I will go with you to the two other flats for you to look at, and then we need to go get pizza or something. And we still have a movie to finish.”
Your eyes sparkled at the mention of pizza. You were a bit hesitant to accept. But, Max’s voice echoed in your head. “Kid. You need to get out of your comfort zone. The drivers aren’t bad and they’ll love you as much as I do.” He was right, and you found yourself admitting that too often.
“Sure! We can get going if you’d like to. Or did you want to stay here for a little bit?”
Logan hadn’t planned on staying anyway, so the two of you made your way to the first destination.
It’s safe to say that you would not be bidding on this one. It was too far from where you needed to be and the area was sketchy, Logan was glad that he was with you. He’s sure if you told Max where you had been alone, he would have flipped. The staircase was practically falling apart and the door lock was broken. The windows were old and the house smelled like a smoker had lived there before. The bedrooms were too small, same as the bathrooms. You and Logan hightailed it out of there before the landlord even had time to speak with you.
On your way to the next one, Logan began to see some familiar sights. “Hey, can I see the address real fast?” his accent was a nice contrast.
“Sure!” You handed him your phone as you looked around for a trashcan. Logan’s laugh brought you attention back to him. “What’s up?”
He gave you your phone back. “It’s just that, the apartment you’re going to look at is right next to mine.”
You gawked at him. “No flipping way!”
“The building is nice, much nicer than the last one. I know the way back.” You turned off your navigation and followed the blond. You could definitely see that the area continually got nicer the closer you got. The streets were getting a little more crowded and you found yourself clinging to Logan’s sweatshirt. You felt like a child and probably looked like one too.
When you got to the building, you were amazed at the size. It was much cleaner than the last one. The landlord was able to give you and Logan a tour of the place. Logan gave some good feedback, since he swore that his flat was the same exact layout.
You could definitely see yourself living here. You quickly gave the landlord your price and you walked out the door as a new owner of a London flat.
When the man left, Logan looked over at you with a mischievous smirk. “Celebratory pizza?”
“You bet!” You were thankful that you found Logan or you think you’d still be flat hunting by now.
The bright light of the sign illuminated the darkening street. It seemed like the owners new Logan pretty well as they greeted him by name. They stopped and asked you a bit about yourself and to see if you’d be hanging around. When you said yes, they seemed ecstatic and it made you wonder how little business they got.
The pizza was to die for. At first, they didn’t have your favorite pizza, but Logan was quick to order you something that he’d think that you’d like. And he was absolutely correct. You ate the pizza very quickly.
After dinner, the two of you found yourselves walking around.
“How are you liking the city?” Logan spoke up first.
You shrugged your shoulders. “This is the first time I’ve really had the chance to get to see it. The only other time I’ve been here was for testing before Vegas. So, yeah.” You took a breath. “It’s nice though.”
Logan looked around at all the lights, “It gets really pretty around this time. I don’t like it when it rains all the time.”
You looked up at him, brows furrowed, “Aren’t you from Florida? Doesn’t it rain like every single day?” Logan let out a big laugh.
He licked his lips before responding, “Yeah it does. It’s a different rain. It’s more humid. The rain here is cold and just clings to you.”
After walking around for a bit, Logan invited you back to his apartment. When you walked, in you were thinking that it would be like a typical male domain. Something like a Mojo Dojo Casa House.
But you were presently surprised with how nice it was on the inside. You whistled as you looked around at the interior. “Damn Logan. Did your mother decorate for you.”
You heard a groan from behind you. Turning around, you saw Logan looking at you with hands on his hips.
“For your information,” there was the white valley girl, “I did this all by myself.”
“Which translates to ‘my mom picked everything out and you just put it all up’.” Logan pouted.
“Oscar helped as well.”
“Ah, that makes more sense.”
“Y/n!” You laughed and continued walking around the apartment. Your eye caught a small picture hanging on the way.
“Logan? Can I see this one?” You pointed at it, but couldn’t reach it.
He quickly came over and took it off the nail and handed it to you. Your fingers glided over the image. It had perfectly captured Logan, and then the boy on the other side must have been Oscar. But what surprised you was that you were also in this picture.
Logan must have seen your longing glance. “Yeah, my mom took that for me and Oscar. It was the first time the two of us had podiumed together. Oscar would have been first but…”
You cut him off, “I overtook him on the last lap.”
Logan’s eyes bulged and he yanked the frame out of your hands. He brought it close to his face, a little too close to really see anything but he was dramatizing it. You rolled your eyes at his childishness.
He brought the frame back down and looked at you. “I didn’t know that was you!”
“Yeah. I’ll tell Oscar sorry for taking his win.”
Logan looked at you as though you had grown three heads. “Excuse me! Oscar could not shut up about how cool the overtake was. And how much cooler it seemed because you were the only girl.”
You looked up at him with a surprised look, but Logan continued.
“Yeah. I actually don’t remember much of it. I was shaking so much and couldn’t concentrate. I almost dropped my trophy.” He looked over at you. You looked back up at the other pictures and sighed.
“I lost my godfather the afternoon before the race.”
Logan went quiet, silently wanting you to continue.
“I needed to win for him. That race I also debuted with the number 89. It was his number when he did karting. I felt like I owed him a win.”
Logan placed the picture back on the nail and brought you in for a hug. The two of you stood in silence for a moment before you backed up. Logan looked at you with a sad smile. You looked back up at the picture.
“Do you think your mom could print me one out?”
Logan ruffled your hair. “Sure! I’ll have her send it to me and I can just do it.”
“Thanks Logan.”
“Are you ready to watch a movie?”
“Can we finish Cars 2?”
“I thought you’d never ask.”
After that night, you and Logan seemed to be closer. You were still quiet with the rest of the grid, but Max and Logan knew how to bring you out of your shell.
Your debut race was a big one, and everywhere you turned a microphone was pushed into your hands and you were finagled in front of a camera. This is where you found yourself 85% of the time that day.
“Hi Y/n, how are you doing today?” You had the urge to roll your eyes. These journalists should have been able to come up with different questions. But you didn’t or Riggs would have an aneurism.
“I’m good! A little overwhelmed but that’s expected.”
The reporter continued, “How was your break? We saw that you posted pictures of your new places on Instagram, why don’t you tell us a bit about those.”
You smiled, now that was a question you hadn’t heard yet. “I love my new places. Max had been pressuring me to get a small place in Monaco so that he could quote-on-quote look after me. I think he would just miss me too much.” The reporter laughed and so did you.
You kept going, “And then I was able to find a small place in London for when I have to go for sim training and what-not. I like it a lot.”
“We loved your pictures from London. Seemed like you and Logan Sargeant were having a good time.”
“Oh yeah, speaking of which,” you trailed off as you spotted Logan. You brought the microphone with you as you walked up to the blond. You pulled his sleeve and dragged him back with you.
“Uh hello to you to?” he questioned with a laugh.
“I was about to talk about our time in London.” Logan’s eyes lit up.
He all but whispered, “You didn’t tell them.” You now rolled your eyes.
“I haven’t had time yet.” You looked at the camera, “We’re neighbors!”
“Yeah, I’ve had to deal with seeing this child all the time.” You gaped up at him. Whack. Logan didn’t even flinch. “See what I’ve had to deal with?” He pointed at you.
The reporter’s eyebrows raised at your bickering. They interrupted, “How did you two find out that you were neighbors?”
You shushed Logan, “I was apartment hunting and I needed some coffee and found him at Starbucks. And then we went and looked at a different one first.”
Logan leaned into the microphone, “It was sketchy as heck. I’m glad I went with her.”
“And then I gave him the address to the second one and he was all like ‘dude, that’s my address’,” you mimicked his accent. It was his turn to roll his eyes.
“Yeah and then we got pizza and finished Cars 2.” You heard a gasp behind the two of you. When you turned around, you were met with an Aussie look of betrayal.
“You finished Cars 2? With me?” He put his hand to his heart as if he was shot. You shot him a sheepish smile.
Logan looked at his best friend, “You weren’t there mate”
You looked at Oscar. “I promise we will finish it with you at some point. Maybe during the next red flag?” Oscar nodded and then was on his way.
You noticed that you had taken a lot of this reporter’s time and were quick to wrap things up.
“Final question. What is your favorite part about London, now that you’ve lived there for a while?”
You glanced up at Logan. “Well you know what Mother Swift says. You gotta love a London Boy.” You winked at the camera.

“Just because we’re attracted to one another doesn’t mean we need to sleep together. I’m off that. Plus, we’re friends.”
Anvika prided herself on being a woman of self-control and discipline. Though it did not come easy, years of abstinence grew dreary and at times, very lonely, her hard work was not something she was willing to risk. Her decision to step into abstinence wasn’t one she took lightly, nor was it one that she planned, but once Anvika began the journey of healing from a heartbreak, intimacy with another man wasn’t the priority. Though that had been over four years ago and she was well over the situation, she could admit that while it was difficult to maintain her self-control, not having to worry about anyone’s snot-nosed son brought more peace than she could ever imagine.
“Even more of a reason to let it happen. Everything happens better when you have a solid foundation first. Everybody thinks you two are together anyways. He truly cares for you, in more ways than one.”
Anvika hummed and rolled her eyes as she brought the slender champagne fluke to her full lips. The liquid went smooth down her throat. She shrugged. “Then let them think that. Lewis is a good man, a good and attractive man, but…”
Her friend, Onyx, sighed and downed her drink with a wave of her hand. “I don’t know how you do it! I would’ve lost my mind by now. I commend you.” Onyx bowed playfully which pulled a light laugh from Anvika. Though she was joking, she couldn’t help but sense the truth behind her words.
Though swearing off men and intimacy had become a more common practice among women, many people found it taboo and unrealistic. She soon began to ponder--what if she’d never find anyone that could give her what she wanted because of how she chose to navigate her dating life? She shook it off internally. That would be a problem, but none that would be hers.
Before she got the chance to respond, her phone rang against the glass table that held their expensive lunch on it’s back. LH flashed across the screen. She smiled softly which caught the attention of Onyx, who gave a teasing smirk. For someone who was insistant on keeping a strong boundary between herself and her closest friend, she surely smiled like a fool whenever he called.
“I told you I have a lunch date with Onyx today,” she reminded the racer lowly, using her index finger to draw doodles in the condensation her water glass sweat off on the table. “Everything alright?”
“Everything’s fine, angel,” he spoke smoothly. “Just wanted to make sure you were still wanting to join me for the event on Friday.” Anvika hummed and nodded as though he could see her. He was attending a gala in London and of course, offered his plus-one to Anvika, as he had done since their friendship had begun years prior. What was his, was hers, including access to rooms and events that would grant her opportunities to further her career as a branding and marketing consultant.
“Yes,” she replied excitedly. “I still haven’t found a dress. What color are you wearing?”
There was shuffling in the background before he spoke again. “Blue. Don’t worry about it,  I’ll handle it.” Her heart fluttered. “Enjoy your lunch. Tell Onyx I said hello and call me later, alright?”
Anvika’s teeth trapped her bottom lip. “Alright. Talk soon.”
“Bye, love.”
Anvika turned her phone on its face and looked up, catching Onyx’s playful eyes. Her thick eyebrow touched her forehead. “Friends, right?” Anvika gave her a look. Onyx raised her hands in defense, “My bad, my bad.”
-
Lewis Hamilton was a gentleman. Sure, this was universal knowledge, but something about him being gentlemanly with her made her heart flutter and her stomach clench with desire. And it almost made her question Onyx’s point, “he truly cares for you; in more ways than one.” It’d typically be something she’d deny, but as she stood in front of the mirror with her hair done by a hairstylist he arranged to come, her nails done by a nail technician he’d flown out, and a dress he arranged to be custom-made to suit her body, how could she deny it any longer?
“Don’t think too deeply into it,” she scolded herself, slipping out of her robe. She walked toward her dress, pulled it off the hanger, and carefully slipped into it. “You’re friends. Close friends who care for one another. That’s it, that’s all.”
They met at the paddock six years prior. She was invited to her first Formula One race through her consultant agency, which took her team on an all-expense paid trip for their hard work. She wasn’t aware of Formula One, just of familiar names. Then, at the end of the match, she had the chance to put a face to the infamous name of Lewis Hamilton.
“You raced well,” Anvika noted, taking in the slightly disheveled appearance of the raceman. “I’ve never been to a Formula One race; good job on giving me a reason to come back one day.”
The man’s eyebrow raised in interest. He crossed his arms over his chest, his muscular build on display. “Is that so?”
Anvika nodded.
“We can make that happen whenever you want.”
It was Anvika’s turn to raise an eyebrow. A smirk played on her lips. “Is that so? Tryna be my friend, Lewis?”
He shrugged his shoulders. Friends wasn’t too bad. Anything to get to know her. “Any man would be a fool to refuse that opportunity, Anvika.”
That marked the beginning of an inseparable union.
Anvika continued to mumble and grumble, doing whatever she could to keep her mind eased. Her self-conversations were halted by a knock on her door. Lewis. “Coming!” Holding her dress to her chest. She turned the doorknob, and the familiar scent of his cologne filled her nose. “Are you…oh. Oh.”
Closing the door behind him, Lewis’ eyes were trained on her, the most beautiful woman he’d laid eyes on. The dress, complementary to his suit, was perfectly designed and tailored to her. She was a fan of long-sleeved dresses, so that’s what she got. It was constructed with a heavy, luxurious velvet material and it hugged every riff, edge, and curve on her body. The neckline showed the swell of her breasts and her beautiful collarbone. The mermaid-like tail further accentuated her shape.
Her hair was parted to the side and curled to perfection. The makeup complimented her features--thick eyebrows, full lips, and a round nose. And her scent, goodness, it suffocated him. The jasmine and almond notes filled his nostrils and he wanted to nuzzle his face in her neck and inhale like she was the air he needed to breathe.
“You look beautiful,” Lewis managed to speak. His voice was so low that she almost didn’t hear his compliment. With a bashful smile, she thanked him and led him to her room where she wandered toward the bathroom, which had a series of jewels across the counter. “Help me pick a necklace?”
Anvika turned to face the jewelry and fought hard to ignore the heat that radiated from Lewis’ body as he moved to stand behind her. From over her shoulder, his eyes followed the line of jewels the stylists brought. His eyes landed on a silver necklace; a thin chain with a multi-carat teardrop diamond. “This one.”
Lewis took the necklace in his hands and placed it around her neck. Anvika lifted her hair to grant him easy access and shivered as his cool fingertips brushed against her skin. She inhaled deeply. “Stunning.” His breath was warm against her neck. They locked eyes in the mirror ahead of them. The tension was thick. Suffocating. His brown eyes, usually so full of love and warmth, were filled with something she couldn’t quite identify, but it made her body heat like wildfire.
“I’m ready,” she announced, careful not to let her voice waver. She turned, purposefully ignoring the groan he released when she brushed against him. Her lips quivered as she tried to give a steady smile. What the hell was happening between them? Anvika placed her hands on his chest and soothed the non-existent wrinkles on his suit jacket. He was so handsome. “You look great, darling.”
“Thank you…” his words came out as a whisper. He was too distracted by her. Six years of friendship and what he felt from the time he met her at the paddock all those years ago had reached a breaking point. He’d boiled over.
Anvika tried to smile as she pressed a kiss against his cheek, but with how he reacted, her lips landed at the corner of his lips. She took a step back. “Let’s get ready to go, yeah?”
Lewis swallowed thickly. He held his arm out for her, which she grabbed instinctively, and together, they were out the door with a million and one thoughts swimming between them.
-
“And that beauty you’ve brought?” an older man questioned Lewis, who had his eyes on Anvika as she danced through the siloes of people in the room. The gala was nothing short of a popularity function, a random event on a random weekend for the host to flaunt their money and connections, Truthfully, his desire to attend dwindled once he saw her in that dress. She was the only thing on his mind.
“Anvika Dawson,” Lewis said, nodding in her direction. “One of the best branding and marketing consultants in the industry. She’s amazing at everything she does. You’ve got a business, don’t you?” And that’s why he was a good friend, Anvika noted as she began to walk over, hearing him advocate for her in front of the man.
“You flatter me,” she said with a smile as she took a position under Lewis’ arm, which slid around her waist. “Anvika Dawson, nice to meet you.”
The older man, who had went by the nam Eli, shook her hand firmly and nodded in interest. “Well, pardon me, but the two of you would make a wonderful couple.” The young adult chuckled lightly; the comment was nothing new to them, but it seemed to bring them both discomfort given the fact that they had a very intimate moment just an hour before their arrival. Before Lewis could speak up, Anvika thanked the man sweetly then they were whisked in another direction.
They were joined together at the hip for the remainder of the evening. And, on the rare occasion that they were apart, they stole glances from across the room like teenagers in a romantic sitcom. Soon, the event wrapped up and they were in the backseat of the car, sitting in a thick silence.
Anvika sat at the right of the car, her knees turned inward and her legs crossed. With every bump in the road and swerve of the car, the tip of her heel brushed against Lewis’ leg. His breath hitched. She said nothing.
The car came to an abrupt stop and the doors were opened for them. Before her foot could touch the ground, Lewis’ hand was awaiting. “Thank you,” Anvika said softly, and allowed him to guide her into the hotel.
He still hadn’t said much. The walk to the elevator was quiet, yet, he hadn’t let go of her hand. What was he thinking about? If it was the sudden shift in their interactions, it didn’t go unnoticed by her either.
The elevator doors peeled open and Lewis guided her in. He pressed the button, 10, that would send them to the floor their rooms were on. The elevator ride seemed slow as each ding indicated they’d entered another floor.
Anvika cleared her throat and decided to speak up, “I enjoyed tonight. And again, you looked great. I love blue on you.”
He couldn’t remember what happened between her compliment, her back against the elevator wall, and his lips on hers.  The only thing that forced him to key in was her hands pressing against his abdomen and his name falling from her lips. “Lewis…” What he’d heard time and time again in his dreams had finally become a reality. His stomach churned; could he get her to say it again? “What are you…” She cut herself off when she fell victim to the wonderful feeling of his lips against her jaw.
“I just…” Lewis settled his face in her neck. “One night, Vi. Let me have one night with you…” Her heart pounded in her ears. What the hell was happening?
“Lewis…” Her hand slipped and fell just above his belt. She extended her arm just slightly. “We can’t do this. I-I don’t want to mess up our friendship and you know I’m not going all the way with anyone--”
Lewis hummed. His eyes sat low as he looked at her. She looked completely worn out as if he’d done to her what he truly wanted. Her forehead glistened with sweat, her lipstick was smeared, and her chest heaved. “Nothing will change for the worse, angel. And I don’t want to go there with you, just want to make you feel good…always have.” His left arm circled around her waist and his large hand palmed her backside. She whimpered. “Can I?”
“Someone might see...”
He ignored her. “Can I make you feel good?” His tone was stern as he repeated his question. Suddenly, the gala was out of her mind and the only thing that clouded her thoughts was him. Him and him only. Lewis Hamilton had infiltrated her mind and she finally stopped fighting it.
The elevator dinged. “Yes…”
-
“Should I…?” her hands reached for the necklace that shone beneath the dim lights of the hotel suite. Lewis shook his head and peeled his jacket off his shoulders, revealing a crisp white wife beater. He shed that too. Anvika’s breath hitched. “Keep it on. Lay back for me, angel.”
Anvika looked like an angel surrounded by the comforter. Her undergarments were long discarded, save for her underwear which he kept in the pocket of his pants. The pure white of the sheets were a stark contrast to the richness of her complexion. Her hair was sprawled against the pillow with a few strands covering her face lazily. The look on her face was one of comfort, relief in one way or another.
She welcomed Lewis’ body between her legs as he crawled on the bed and his lips against hers as he hovered above her. For the first time that night, Anvika’s hands didn’t tremble when she touched him. She welcomed the feeling of every ridge of muscle, every raised scar, and every mature tattoo.
Their hands moved frantically over each other’s body, and it felt amazing. She hadn’t realized how touch deprived she was until she heard his chuckle in her ear. Her face warmed. She felt like a teenager. “It’s okay…” his lips ghosted against the shell of her ear. “Make all the noise you want.”
Anvika didn’t respond--her mouth wouldn’t allow her to. As Lewis moved down her body, she sat on her elbows, watching and waiting. God, he was so handsome like this. His head was dipped between her thighs and his tattooed glistened under the dim lights. Slowly, he lips created an intentional trail from her belly down to the treasure just centimeters away from his mouth.
Her fingers clawed at the bedsheets as the anticipation rose. She was becoming impatient. He was giving attention to every other place except where he wanted her. She huffed. “Lewis…”
He hummed, clearly unbothered by her frustration. He glanced at her, “Yes?” She whimpered. “Talk to me.” He was amused, very amused. She was desperate for him. It was evident by the way her arousal seeped onto the bed. He gathered some on his fingers, using it as a lubricant as he finally began to touch her.
Anvika gasped. His movements were slow and meticulated but they were enough to set her over the edge. He brought his lips to hers again, which she accepted sloppily. Her jaw fell slack as he continued to work her to her first release of the night. It came quickly, quicker than she would have liked. When his fingers hit that spot within her, her hips jerked and she squeaked his name.
Lewis chuckled, “That’s it?” He prodded that spot again. “Right there?” Anvika nodded. He removed his fingers. She groaned in frustration, “Lewis, please!”
“Please what?” He brought his fingers to his lips and moaned at the taste of her on his tongue. If this was just the beginning, he couldn’t imagine how mad he’d go in the coming moments. “Tell me what you want.”
She clocked it. He wanted her to beg. Anvika wasn’t the begging type. She may have been far removed from having sex, but she always got her way, especially with Lewis. Her hands trailed down the muscular planes of his stomach. Her fingers hooked in his belt and pulled him forward. Her fingers curled around his neck and her nails toyed with the faded hair there. She brought her smeared lips to his ear, her tongue dancing against the shell of it. He shudder. “I want you to make my legs shake and rock my world. Can you do that, Lewis?”
Her voice. The way her voice dropped in octave but increased in seduction had his head spinning. There were a few moments of silence as he fought hard to gather himself and the more she spurred him on, the most difficult it became. But then, she heard it, “Yes…”
-
“Right there, right there! Oh my…” He was a lover of music. Being in a studio, creating melodies to go with lyrics, was his favorite pastime. But this took the cake. She created her a song better than he could have ever imagined, and was it addicting.
Her moans, cries, and screams were melodic and his name was the only lyric she knew. He hated repetition in music, but loved hearing hers. So addicting. So well created. So beautiful.
Her legs trembled around his head and her hands were buried in his braids. He fought the urge to bend her over when she whispered out the faintest, “Baby, please…” She’d used terms of endearment before, but in this context, it was different. “I’m close!”
Her body, damp with sweat and covered in bruises created by his mouth, jumped and jolted as she grew closer to her peak. Lewis sat up, replacing his tongue with his highly skilled fingers. He used his arm to stabilize his body as he hovered over her. What a sight.
Her hair was completely sweated out, pooped and frizzy at the roots. Her makeup stained the pillows and her lips were swollen from her biting and his intense kisses. Her neck was dark with love bites. Her eyelids were hooded but he could see the fire behind her eyes. If only he could capture her and keep the picture in his pocket forever.
“Doing so well for me,” he whispered, kissing against her cheek and jaw. His fingers made quick work of the huddle of nerves between her legs. “Taking it like a good girl.” Her moans grew louder, higher in pitch, and full of air. It was becoming too much—her hands pushed against his arm, trying to run. “Don’t run now. Isn’t this what you wanted?”
“Lewis, I’m—“ she cut herself off with a high pitched scream that seemed to ring on forever. Lewis chuckled lightly and worked her through her orgasm. “That’s it, baby.” Her body shook as she tried to come down calmly.
He spent a few minutes between her legs, caressing her gently as an act of comfort. Her loud noises had diminished to soft whimpers as she came down from cloud nine. When she finally opened her eyes again, he asked, “You okay?”
She was better than okay. Though they didn’t cross all the lines, Anvika had gotten the best orgasm she’d received in her life from a man’s mouth and hands. She’d deal with the consequences later, but in that moment, she felt amazing.
She nodded and smiled lazily. “I’m okay. Are you…do you want me to…?” Her eyes fell to the evident bulge that strained against his pants. He shook his head.
“I’m okay. Let’s get you cleaned up…”
-
What was supposed to be a shower to clean her up resulted in her on her knees giving him the most intense release he’d experienced in months. It left him panting, shaking, and whimpering like it was his first time all over again.
Once again, she looked angelic with her now curly hair flat against her back and big brown eyes staring at him as she worked him like the expert she was. He came in her with with a groan, his fingers in her hair. She stood to her feet, smiling innocently as she showed him there was no remnant of him left in her mouth.
“You’re nasty,” he announced, grabbing her jaw to place a sloppy kids on her lips.
“Mhmmm, just the way I like it.”
They migrated to her bed shortly after, laying together in a comfortable silence. Anvika’s head was against his bare chest and herfingers traced the tattoos on his body. Lewis’ arm was around her waist and his hand massaged her plump bottom.
They were tired, exhausted even. But, they fought sleep like children, internally afraid of what the morning would bring. All actions had consequences whether good or bad. It was a mutual hope that what they’d done wouldn’t bring on the latter.
“Lewis?” Anvika called after some time.
“Yes, angel?”
“Are we gonna be okay?” Her voice trembled slightly. They’d crossed a line--a big one. She had wobbled on her boundaries. There was a lot to discuss and a lot to consider. It was an amazing experience, she couldn’t lie, but her biggest fear was that she’d lose him as an important person in her life if reality didn’t set in the way they intended.
Lewis gave her a squeeze and brought his lips to her forehead. Sensing her worry, he reassured, “We’ll always be okay.” And she believed it.

Right, well, fucking hell guys lmaooo.
Cate & Sam becoming radicalised makes the most sense. Out of the whole group, they are the two that have been the most manipulated and abused by humans so I don't necessarily fault them, I just hope they don't take it too far. The relationship between Shetty and Cate was heartbreaking to watch play out, because underneath all the manipulation there were genuine feelings and love for each-other there. That moment when Cate called Shetty 'Indira' I actually got chills. Personally, Cate & Sam becoming anti-heroes to the group is very interesting.
Marie & Jordan. I feel like... their scenes together were really cute, and the way Marie went after Jordan when he was pissed, and then they had that half-hearted standoff before Jordan started laughing and kissed her, gave a great insight into their whole relationship dynamic and had me giggling. I also loved their detective scenes. BUT it's frustrating that they haven't had an opportunity to talk about their feelings for each-other, or even acknowledge everything that's happened between them. I mean, I also get that a lot of things are happening and so maybe there just hasn't been the chance for them to talk it out - which, again, I guess is sort of realistic - I just think that you can't ask an audience to fully root for a couple when you don't show the moments that it takes for them to become a them if you get what I mean. I still 10000% love & root for them; they are still my main draw, and Jaz, Derek & London sell those scenes. But I need more...
I feel so bad for Marie. The way she had to relive that trauma of her mother dying and being unable to help. Jaz really acted out in the scene where she was literally begging Cate to be able to help Shetty. That was the only part where I kinda thought Cate was wrong; because out of everyone Marie was the person who was most open to giving her another chance, and then she goes and betrays her like that.
I also liked the dynamic between Neuman and Marie (I wonder if she is the one who is Marie's benefactor) but I'm not putting my trust in her because there's something about her that's kinda suspect. I will say that I liked how she handled Dr Cardosa; I cannot truly believe that he actually thought he was going to walk away from that encounter alive... like c'mon now. I wonder if Neuman will get rid of the virus though or keep it somewhere else???
I expected Shetty and Dr Cardosa to die but I didn't think it would happen in the penultimate episode. Which means that the finale is gonna go even more crazy, and I have strong suspicions that someone else from the main group is gonna die or be locked up. Regardless of what happens though, the dynamics are seriously about to be changed which is quite exciting.
I also dont know how our main gang can go back to that school knowing that it's whole foundation is false, and that they're actually test subjects. It feels like either way they can't win; either they drop out of the school and go the independent route in regards crime fighting, or they continue knowing that it's all a farce and every step that they take is orchestrated.

The Gut Feeling
Soap MacTavish x Reader
⚠️MODERN WARFARE THREE SPOILERS⚠️
Reader (Nicknamed Klepto for her scavenging skills) has a tendency to sense terrible events before they happen.
°•°•°•°•°
Klepto stood behind the others, leaning against a table full of weapons and gear. She wasn't listening as Laswell and Price spoke about whatever move they were making next, and her focus was suddenly brought back when Soap came and leaned up next to her.
"You good, lass?" He asked, quietly so they others wouldn't be interrupted. Klepto nods.
"Just thinking... Too much has been happening lately."
"Aye," MacTavish agreed with a sigh, moving his gaze to the others who were discussing some suspicious shipment at the moment. "The sooner we catch this bastard, the sooner I can rest easy."
"Same here." Klepto breathed. "I've got that feeling again."
"The stomach thing?" Soap raises a brow, looking over at the woman. "Like before Graves turned on us?"
"Exactly like that," She nods. "But twice as strong and it hasn't stopped for a week. I think something bads about to happen."
"We should let Price know."
"What good will that do? 'Hey, Cap. I don't feel so good, can I sit out this mission? No I know we need to kill this ultranationalist before he kills more civilians, but my tummy hurts.'" She elbowed Soap gently in the ribs, who pushed her back with the same amount of force.
"No, we should tell him you've got that... premonition again."
"Premonition?" Soap nods in response.
"That gut feeling of yours have saved my life quite a few times now. I know better than ignore your stomachaches."
"It's saved you?" Klepto asked, glancing st Price as he looked their way.
"Aye. It saved me in Las Almas. Twice. And in Chicago, and again in Verdansk." He lists them off on his fingers, about to speak again when Klepto waves her hand.
"But that doesn't mean Laswell and Price will just... what, stop everything? Because I seem to have an acute sense of danger?"
"They just might rethink their plans." Soap shrugs, clapping a hand on her shoulder and leading her towards the team. "Can't hurt to mention it."
Klepto just hums and nods, allowing MacTavish to lead her to the group. The conversation seemed to have lulled to a stop as they stepped into the circle.
"And what were you two discussing over there?" Price tilted his head, half teasing the pair. It was no secret they had a soft spot for each other.
"Klepto's sixth sense has been going haywire recently." Soap patted her shoulder before lowering hand. Ghost leans his head back with a slight nod, knowing full well about her 'sixth sense.' Everyone else just looked confused.
"She can always tell before something terrible is about to happen." Ghost grunts out, drawing the groups attention back to himself. "Took us a while to figure out that's what it meant. She's our very own canary in the coal mine."
"I just think something going to go wrong here. I can feel it. But I understand if that's not enough to act on, Captain." She nods at Price, trying to convey some kind of desperation in her eyes. "Still, I ask you not to take this lightly. I've never felt it this strongly before."
"We can't stop what's coming." Price shakes his head. "We can't afford to back out on this one. But we'll be especially careful, I can promise you that."
"I understand." She frowns. "This is too important."
"Right." Price went back to discussing the hacker Makarov had been working with. It seemed he was in London, and the taskforce was hoping to catch him this time...
°•°•°•°•°•°•°
The feeling was only getting worse. They were pushing through the train tunnel, Soap and Klepto following the Captain's lead. Between dodging fire from the Konni soldiers and the trains passing through every so often, Klepto was finding it hard to focus on anything happening.
The squad reached a point in the tunnel where the Konni men seemed to be staying in place. As they cleared the place, Soap pointed out that they were guarding a bomb, and Klepto's stomach did a flip.
"This is it!" She yelled, firing on an enemy and watching him bite the dust. "I feel it."
"I'll defuse the bomb. You two cover me!" Soap yelled sliding into place next to the bomb. More soldiers came from behind the team, and Price and Klepto laid down cover fire as Soap got to work on the bomb.
She planted herself right between Soap and the incoming troops, firing into the clouds of smoke that the enemy had popped. Soap called for Price to come help with the bomb, but Klepto didn't move from her post. She felt damn near nauseous now, the feeling only worsening as Ghost called through the radio.
Makarov was here. And he was closing in.
She back herself closer to the bomb, and her teammates with it. She focused all her attention on the tunnel ahead of her, trying to swallow down the feeling of illness climbing up her throat. Suddenly a shots rang out and a bullet slipped past Klepto- hitting Soap right on the plating.
Price tried to get Soap to return fire, but Soap argued he couldn't due to the bomb. Klepto took her place firing back at the enemy until it was clear and Price returned to the bomb.
Just as the two were about to defuse the bomb, footsteps and a gunshot came from behind Klepto, and she turned to see Soap falling to the ground as Makarov made a run for Price. One of Makarov's men fired at Klepto, and as she tried to hit them back, the bullet hit her shoulder and she went down.
Makarov tried to shoot Price, but as Klepto was recovering from her wound, so was Soap. MacTavish stood and leapt at Makarov with a knife, plunging it into the man's shoulder. Makarov grabbed Soap's arm, breaking it and raising his gun right to Soap's temple.
By this time, Klepto was on her feet, but she had lost her weapon. Still, she knew had to move, and she dropped her uninjured shoulder in front of her, charging at the man aiming at MacTavish.
Makarov's gun went off just before her hit the ground, and Klepto threw herself on top of the man. She landing punch after punch to his face before Makarov's soldiers reacted. One of them fired at her, hitting her right in the chest plate and knocking her off the man. As Makarov stood up, the second team suddenly came barreling behind them, shooting down the Konni.
The enemy took off running, and Gaz and Price ran quickly to the bomb. As much as they both wanted to give chase, defusing the explosive took priority.
The two cut the wires and the bomb deactivated, leaving Gaz with a sigh of relief. Captain Price seemed to take a moment before turning to Soap, Ghost, and Klepto.
Ghost was kneeling next to Soap's body, and Klepto sat with his head pulled into her lap. She had a piece of cloth ripped from a shirt held to his head, and Ghost moved his hand away from Soap's neck.
"Is he-?" Gaz asked, unable to finish his question.
"He's alive." Ghost breathed heavily. "Broken arm and a graze to his head, but he's alive."
"Thank fucking God." Price groaned, standing over the rest of the team. Gaz knelt down to put pressure on Klepto's shoulder, chastising her for ignoring her own wounds as she was losing blood.
"All stations- this is Bravo in the blind. Threat neutralized. Bomb is safe. Two WIA." Price huffed into his comms, as Gaz took Klepto's weight upon himself as he helped her stand.
"He's okay." She mumbled, feeling dizzy from blood loss. "He's okay."
"You won't be, if we don't get you medEVAC soon." Ghost grumbled, lifting Johnny up as well. Price led the way, gun raised as the rest of his team limped to freedom behind him.

- the devil is in the details.
┈⋆⭒ daniel ricciardo x fem!reader [0.7k] ┈⋆⭒ part 2 !
.𖥔 ݁ ˖ ⎯ find all parts here!! .𖥔 ݁ ˖ ⎯ contents: tame angst, daniel is a dickhead lol .𖥔 ݁ ˖ ⎯ a/n: listening to the voicemail, hearing back from the interview and Daniel being super silliness.
it had now been 4 days with no word back from mercedes, the first thing you’d look at were your emails as you rolled out of bed. your hair stuck to the side of your face. with only very vague memories of last nights events.
no new emails.
(1) new voicemail from “daniel ricciardo” today 1:34am
you’d changed the name before you went to bed last night. you figure listening to the voicemail can’t hurt, not quite remembering the subject of conversation last night that you eagerly ignored.
you press play, looking at the length of it: 1min19sec
oh god, what is he saying, christ.
“i know that you hung up, i know that you don’t want to talk to me but come on dylan.”
looooongg breath
“like- if you’re gonna get a job at fucking mercedes you have to tell me.”
“it’s like showing up on my doorstep and we haven’t really like spoken in ages and then you’ll be where i work” his voice is getting deeper now, changing octaves with his mood
“for the fucking rival team too, seriously?”
he was drawing it out, every word an unpredictable string of words drawn together, driven by murky emotions.
“you know what- whatever, i don’t care, work for them, don’t work for them”
“but- just fucking- warn me. okay?”
“thanks”
the dial tone starts playing, shrill in your ear.
it hurts more than you would like to admit, listening to that, hearing that he doesn’t want to be near you. that you need to “warn him” does something to you. why would you need to warn him, it’s not like your presence does anything to him considering he hasn’t reached out in nearly 2 fucking years.
no. no. no.
so frustrating, stupid fucking daniel ricciardo. as if he needs YOU to warn HIM after HE has been the one ignoring YOU the whole time. wouldn’t it be easier for him, you’d think, rather than you. whatever. he’s being weird and confusing and very frustrating.
you wonder if you should write a text back, like:
“don’t worry i’ll warn you if i step within 15 metres of you!”
“i’ll wear a bell so you can hear when i’m coming and run away!”
you delete both, instead going with:
12:34pm
fuck off. you seemed to be so good at it the past 2 years.
read
he starts typing, you wait, for anything, andddddddd…… nothing. as always, a real life example of him fucking off when you don’t want him to.
you put your phone down, opting that a shower might help, the water might help wash away whatever it is you feel towards him, any of it, all of it. but memories of him just come flooding back and he’s so firm and he’s so warm and fuck. no. no.
you turn the shower tap harshly right, hoping the cold water will shock the growing warmth between your legs and make it go away. it works well enough and you finally wash away the smell of london streets out of your hair, after your shower you pick your phone up, still wrapped in your towel.
(1) new message from “daniel ricciardo”
12:55pm
just tell me if i’m gonna turn around at work and you’re gonna be fucking watching me. alright?
oh this fucking guy.
1:14pm
get your head out of your ass i won’t be looking anywhere near you.
just as you press send.
(1) new email.
oh shit oh shit oh shit, you click the banner notification holding your breath.
“regarding job vacancy interview”
pleased to report…….wonderful interview…. ACCEPTED INTO THE ROLE.
HAH. shit. holy shit. you nearly jump up and down holy shit. this is oh my god. you’re gonna get him back so fucking bad.
and at the end of the email.
miss dylan tait, please come to place of interview to receive further information and official proceedings.
oh you could scream.

wild women don't get the blues (t.s.)
Tumblr media
masterlist
pairing: tommy shelby x reader
request: i also wanted to see if you could possibly write up some something I’ve been thinking about since I've been rewatching the series and I’m currently on S2 when an idea suddenly struck me for a juicy angsty piece. it’s during the scene in which Tommy and Grace reunite and in which she asks him “Tommy, do you have someone?” in my mind i pictured possibly the reader x tommy x grace with inevitable infidelity, anger, hurt and some guilt? you can decide the ending and everyone’s fate.
a/n: anon i love you for giving me the opportunity to write a juicy argument secondly i worry you may not see this because i am bad at requests and you sent this two months ago i'm sorry!! but thank you for the sweet ask you sent :) i'd love it if you could drop me an ask if you do end up seeing this. either way i hope you enjoy <3 (p.s. thank you @sunsetmourners for helping me pick a title. i still hate you. ily.)
“You need better locks.” Smoke spilled from your lips as you spoke, obscuring your face in a silvery cloud. You were barely illuminated by the moonlight streaming in through the windows.
Tommy looked down at the door to his office. The broken lock swung on its hinge pathetically.
You sat in his desk chair, eyeing him as he walked into the room. He flipped on the light. Instantly, the room was bathed in the lamps’ golden warmth.
“Why’re you here, then?” He asked off-handedly, as if you hadn’t just shown up to his office, unannounced, in the middle of the night.
“I was thirsty.” You said drily. “Be a darling and get me a drink, won’t you?”
A few moments in his office, and you were already treating him like your secretary.
He smirked, moving to pour you a glass of whiskey.
He held the glass out before quickly moving it out of your reach. Your eyebrows furrowed, and he couldn’t help but smile at the pout that formed on your lips. "Not until you tell me why you’ve really come.”
You sighed, rolling your eyes playfully as you stood to lean against his desk. “We have business to discuss.”
Still, he withheld. “How’d you know I’d be here?”
You chuckled as he stepped toward you, the amber liquor sloshing temptingly in the glass. “I got lucky.” You shrugged. "I have to leave tonight, so I thought there’d be no harm trying. Anyway, when are you not here? I’ve been in Birmingham long enough to tell you’re a slave to your work. Like I am. That’s why we’ll work together perfectly.” You grinned, snatching the drink out of his hand. You tilted it toward him in a toast, watching him over the rim of the glass as you took a sip.
You had sauntered into Small Heath a week ago, demanding a meeting with the Shelbys. They weren’t at all what you had imagined when Alfie recommended them as “the men who’ll help you get the job done”. You were disappointed in how idle they looked in the snug of the Garrison, smoking, drinking and reading the paper. You’d give them something to do.
Their ears perked up when they found out who you were. Your family had a thriving business back in London. Someone less modest would’ve called it an empire.
But there was always more money to be made.
You were working with the richest men and women in London, convincing them to invest in your family’s company, all while secretly draining their funds right under their noses. The Shelbys would help you move the money, exporting goods and making the cash seem legitimate. It was risky. But if it went to plan, you’d all be in the green.
Ever since you and Tommy had met each other, you’d piqued each other’s interests. He felt a draw to you, an unexplainable twinge triggering in his heart whenever you walked into the room.
He felt it now as he stood before you.
“I was waiting here a while, Tommy.” You mumbled, lazily dragging a finger down his arm. “You should be thankful.” You joked, smile playing at your lips. “I’m not used to being kept waiting.”
Tommy moved even closer, cornering you between him and the table.
“Poor thing. D’you miss me?”
“Don’t make me laugh.” You grinned. “I’m just awfully impatient, is all.”
He took the glass from you, draining it before putting it on the table. He took your cigarette from between your fingers, tossing it in his ashtray, before wrapping his arms around your waist, closing the distance between you two.
You plucked the cap off his head, turning it over in your hand curiously.
“Stop it. You’ll cut someone.” He spoke.
You smiled sweetly, holding the cap beneath his chin, razor glinting as you aimed it at his throat.
“What, don’t you trust me?” You giggled.
You tossed the hat away, putting a hand on his shoulder. He was quick to reach up, folding his hand around yours as you ran a thumb across his cheekbone.
“‘Course I trust you.” He mumbled as he leaned in, kissing you.
Your hand travelled to the nape of his neck, sliding up to his shock of dark hair, fingers entangling in the locks as he kissed you fervently, and you responded in kind.
Then, all too soon, you dug your manicured fingers into his hair, pulling his head back.
Your hand slid down his chest, stopping at his watch fob. You checked the time.
“I must be going now, Tommy.”
He held you close, adamant.
“I expect to see you in London.” You ran your hands up and down his arms affectionately before reaching behind your back, grabbing them and pushing them back to his sides.
“You expect?” He raised an eyebrow as he leaned back.
“I expect.” You spoke resolutely as you moved away from him, fixing your hair as you picked up your purse. You hoped, more than anything. You wanted to see him again. “I’ll be meeting Clive Macmillan.” You didn’t even notice how Tommy flinched at the name. “He’s a banker. He’ll be helping with the books. It’d help if you met him.”
“If you want me to meet him, he can come to Birmingham.” Headstrong as ever.
You clicked your tongue. “Don’t be stubborn, Tommy. He won’t come all the way to your office just to see you.”
“Did you?”
You turned to face him, eyebrows knitted together in confusion. “Did I what?”
“Come all the way to my office, just to see me. You could’ve called, left a message with Lizzie… but you came here, hoping I’d show up before you had to leave.”
You felt your face heat up, praying he wouldn’t notice the tinge of red colouring your cheeks. You scoffed. “Don’t be ridiculous.”
He gave you a knowing smile.
It was completely true.
“Don’t be cocky, Shelby. It’s not a good look on you.” You glanced back at him. “Goodnight.”
Just like that, you were gone.
Tommy looked back down in his ashtray. Amongst the pile of his cigarette butts and dark ash laid one half-smoken cigarette, the end stained red with your lipstick.
-
“Tommy.”
Receiver held to his ear, Tommy sat completely still in an opulent suite in your family’s London hotel.  The only indicator that time hadn’t completely frozen was the ash that fell gently from the end of his smoldering cigarette, paused on its journey to his lips.
“Tommy? Are you there?” The tinny voice filtered through the phone.
He cleared his throat.
“Yes, Grace?”
He hadn’t expected to hear from her again. He had welcomed their reunion a month prior, but he saw the awful look of guilt written on her face as she got dressed after. She was thinking of her husband, of course. Clive Macmillan had seemed so inconsequential to the both of them moments before. Tommy had thought the look in her eyes said it all. He thought she’d never want to see him again. He thought it was over.
“I heard you’re in London. I want to see you. Tonight.” Grace said.
Instantly, he thought of you.
He had arrived earlier that afternoon.
Even in the cavernous lobby, surrounded by crowds of tourists and the luxurious interior, you had caught his eye immediately.
Of course, he had noticed the subtle smile playing on your lips from across the room as your gaze met his, and your surreptitious nod toward a quiet corridor.
“I knew you’d come, stubborn as you are.” You had chuckled as you joined him. The both of you had leaned against the wall opposite to one another, watching each other. It was not in both your natures to admit it, and it had only been a couple of days, but you had missed each other.
“Thanks for coming, Tommy. Your men won’t have to hold up your end of the bargain for a good while yet but…”  You were happy to see him. Sunlight flooded through the windows, falling across your face, soft in a look of genuine happiness. The rare look behind your cold exterior was a thing of beauty to him.
“‘Course I’d come.” He said. Hesitantly, he reached out his hand to hold yours. Slowly, your hand lifted to meet his. “Let me take you out after we meet that banker of yours. I’m only here a night. We’ll make the most of it.”
“Promise?” You laughed.
“Promise.” He responded.
You nodded, smiling softly. Your unassuming, sweet expression had made his lips quirk up at the corners.
Both your hands had shot quickly back to your sides as one of your staff members came looking for you. He watched as you took on your air of professionalism. He missed your smile.
Your wrist had brushed his as you walked away from him, and you shot him a look over your shoulder as you were being led away.
Now, sitting in his hotel room, that look was burned into his memory.
He watched time tick away on the clock on the wall. Closer and closer to when you and Grace were expecting him.
He had to make a choice.
-
The shrill doorbell rang. Tommy steeled himself as he reached for the doorknob. He swung the door open.
Grace stood on the other side, fidgeting in a fine dress. Clive took care of her. Her eyes flashed up and down the street, nervously.
Even when looking at her, the thought of you haunted him, a feeling of overwhelming guilt surging through him. He remembered your smile.
He turned, so he wouldn’t have to see her. It just made him wish he’d chosen differently. He busied himself with fixing her a drink, ignoring the feeling of Grace’s eyes burning into his back.
“You had to talk to me, Grace?” He said, mind wandering to the thought of you, alone, wondering where he went. “I’ve a meeting, so we’ve not much time-“ He was lying. He was already late to the meeting with Clive, but maybe if he’d hurried, he could still make it in time to meet you. To make things right.
“Tommy.” She interrupted him, the excuses dissipating in his throat.
He turned to look at her, and she pushed away the drink he offered, beads of condensation already forming on the cool glass. She shook her head.
She reached for his hands, gripping them as the light from the fireplace cast orange hues across their faces.
“I’m pregnant.” She whispered.
Tommy’s heart quickened as she led his tremoring hand toward her stomach.
“I want the child to be with its father.”
He remained silent.
“But I need to know if you’re in this with me, Tommy. I want us to do this, together. But I won’t leave the child without a father if you say no.”
He turned to look at the flame, crackling and dancing in the fireplace. He thought of how the light shone on your face that morning, and thinking of you made a twinge of both affection and of deep remorse surface in his heart.
“I need to know.” Grace implored, knuckles tightening around his hands. “Do you have someone, Tommy?”
He closed his eyes, and thought of you.
He had to make a choice.
Then, he kissed her.
That night, as Grace and Tommy lay next to each other, he made a promise he wouldn’t break. He’d need a week to make the arrangements. Then, they’d be off to New York. Together.
You drifted in and out of his dreams, that night. Sometimes he even thought it was you lying next to him.
-
He opened the door to be met with a slap to the face.
He stared you down, more shocked by your presence than by the burn of his cheek from the impact.
“Is the lady of the house in?” Your jaw was tight as you asked the question, but your tone was so off-handed it was as if you hadn’t just shown up outside his and Grace’s New York hotel room after not having any contact with him since he left London almost two weeks ago.
He shook his head.
“Good.” You punctuated the word with another slap, this time whacking him across the face with your purse. “Move aside. I need a drink.”
You pushed past him, busying yourself at the bar cart, back turned to him.
“(Y/N), if this is about the meeting-“ He began, guilt and regret shooting through him as he watched you.
You froze, as if his voice repulsed you.
“No, Thomas. It’s not about the meeting.” Your voice was dangerously calm, almost saccharine.
Slowly, you picked up an exquisite crystal glass, holding it to the light. There was a trace of Grace’s lipstick on the rim, neglected by the cleaning staff. “I think it was good you didn’t come.”
Casually, as if it were nothing at all, you tossed the glass over your shoulder. It shattered on impact, glass spraying across the floor. “You would have been dead weight, anyway.”
You picked up another glass, turning it in your hands. Too much dust. “You see, where my problem lies is that you’ve fucked with my business. You’ve fucked with my family.” His stomach turned.
One more thrown over your shoulder, and the glass crashed against the floor, the shards glinting in the light.
“But you were probably too involved in your attempts to get the clap to think about something as silly as that, weren’t you?”
Your fingers ran over the rest of the glasses, none of them satisfactory.  With one sweep of your hand, you sent them clattering to the floor, the noise of shattering glass exploding all around the two of you.
“Congratulations on the engagement, by the way.” You spoke, picking up a bottle of liquor by its neck. “A beautiful woman from Poughkeepsie… and oh! With a baby, already on the way! How utterly quaint!” You brought the bottle down upon the cart, the liquid splashing onto the floor as the bottle burst. The neck of the bottle still in your hand, you gestured with it, the sharp, jagged edge shimmering in the sunlight.
“Does her husband know?” Your voice dropped, the sarcastic words dripping of venom. “Did you kill him?”
“What?” Tommy recoiled.
You tossed the neck of the bottle aside, crushing glass beneath your feet as you walked toward him.
“Don’t play dumb with me. When they found him in his suite in my hotel, the coroner said it looked like suicide. But I wouldn’t be so quick to trust their word for it, knowing the types of traitorous bastards his wife associated with. Did you kill him, Thomas? Was it easy? A matter of convenience, to get him out of the way so you could keep his wife’s bed warm?” Your incessant questioning made the room suffocating with tension.
“Oh.” You paused. “But you wouldn’t, would you? You’re too much of a coward.” You hissed. “Perhaps you got one of your little men to do it-“
“Oh, come on, (Y/N)-“
“Do you realise what you’ve done?" You snapped. "Not only did his death give me another mess to clean, more dirty laundry to cover up, but if the coppers come sniffing around the circumstances of Clive’s suicide and uncover the stolen funds linked to me, who's ass do you think is going to be on the line?!" Your voice crested, ripe with pure rage. "My entire family’s business could crumble, and you sacrificed it all for…for…”
For her. Tommy thought. He felt a sickening guilt shoot through him, the shame weighing heavy on his shoulders.
“All you had to do was listen to me.” You scoffed, shaking your head. “What do I have to do to make people fucking listen to me?” You grumbled under your breath as you marched toward the door.
“Where you going?” He called out.
“To fix your mess-“
“Leave it. I’ll fix it. I’ll make it right, for us-“
“Us!” You laughed incredulously. “What ‘us’? There is no us.” You spat.
You made it to the door, swinging around to look at him once more. “Don’t bother trying to make it right, because you can’t. Don’t fight for my honour. There was a time I would’ve fought for yours, but now I’m not so sure you have any.”
You left him alone, standing amongst a pile of glittering, shattered glass. Ashamed.

pillow talk. richarlison
─── ・ 。゚☆: .☽ . :☆゚. ───
Tumblr media
pairing: richarlison x gn!reader
warnings: very slightly suggestive if you blink (just in case: minors dni!)
notes: i went to check my inbox and there were like five requests for richarlison and i kind of feel bad for not posting anything for him earlier lmao but here you are loves <3 hope it's worth the VERY long wait! and tysm for 300 followers, i really appreciate it!
─── ・ 。゚☆: .☽ . :☆゚. ───
as late hours of the night ticked away, you found yourself in bed, snuggled up under multiple blankets as the air in london was getting colder with each passing day. your boyfriend had left for training over three hours ago and you couldn't wait for him to return.
every minute of your day up until now had been rough - being on your feet all day and finally you were in the comfort of your soft, cloud-like bed. the only thing that would make this moment better would be his arms around you, keeping you close and drawing you into him. he couldn't be away for much longer, right? it had already been so long but time only seemed to pass slower. maybe it was your despair causing you to feel this way.
you had barely seen each other before he was headed out to training, the most you got was a gentle peck on the lips that promised to be back as soon as possible. it felt like an eternity away from the current moment but as if angels had answered your prayers, you heard the slam of your front door. not an aggressive one, just a slam. you heard him shuffle his jacket and boots off and it didn't take long until he was upstairs.
neither of you wanted to do anything but be in one another's arms, you could see that from the way he plopped down onto the matress, not even bothering to remove any of his clothes. "hi" you simply muttered as he wrapped his firm frame around your body, his head resting in the crook of your neck. "meu amor, you can't even imagine how hectic today has been."
"i've been running around all day as well, my feet are killing me." you admitted and he nodded lightly, which caused his hair to rub up against your skin and you couldn't help but chuckle a little. at this, his smile grew and he took a quick glance at your face "for someone that had a rough day, you still look awfully beautiful." he hummed and adjusted himself so he leaned above you, his hands supporting himself but he couldn't hold himself up for much longer as his arms gave out in less than half a minute.
"rough session?" you questioned with a small smile and kissed his cheek to which he nodded and sighed "coach was trying to kill us, i swear." you wrapped your arms around the back of his neck, drawing him closer as if there was any space left between the two of you. just by touching him, you could feel the tension in his muscles and hadn't you been so tired, you would've given him a massage. instead, you opted for giving him gentle kisses on his cheeks and temples.
"i feel like my boss hates me. they're always giving me a hundred different tasks and i have to get them done by the end of the day even if they're not things that don't technically have to be rushed." you ranted and groaned quietly, looking over at him every few seconds to make sure he was still listening. and he was, his eyes on you as he slowly nodded along. sometimes this was all you needed, you didn't need him to say anything but you had reassurance that he was listening. your relationship had always been turbulent, so moments like this were so important.
just the two of you in each other's embrace, talking about your days while snuggling up underneath the cushions. nothing in the whole world could disturb how at peace and relaxed you felt.
"missed you so much too. really didn't help with the stress." you added as you were finally finished with rambling on about how difficult your day had been. "oh, amor. i missed you too. so much." he whispered and you felt him place his palm on your cheek, carefully pulling you in before he placed a kiss on your lips.
you weren't sure how long you had been laying there by now. you were now facing each other as your boyfriend's hand gingerly dragged across your features, a tired smile on his lips. "you are so beautiful." you couldn't help but blush, turning your face into the pillow beneath your head "you keep repeating that and it's making me blush!" you accused, which made him laugh.
"well, yes, meu amor. that's my job. but i can do way more than just make you blush." he pointed out with a mischievous smile and god, that grin looked so stupid. his comment made you roll your eyes and lightly, you swung your hand at his arm, giving it a gentle swat.
"if you keep doing that, i'll show you what i can do!" he 'threatened' as he pinned himself above you once again, caging you between his arms as he stared at you with a smirk dancing on his lips.
"mhm, and if you keep teasing, i'll show you my own skills and we all know you can't resist" you countered and matched his expression. in response, you heard a whine before all of his weight laid on top of you "don't tease. i'm way too tired for this." he groaned.
"you started it! and get off me, you're like a bag of rocks" you argued but went quiet when you heard a quiet snore.
oh boy.

10th doctor x reader - the stars in your eyes
Tumblr media
Part 7:
Donna had found the doctor again, and they were currently in London nearby, so Donna agreed to come and pick you up.
Nobody was home yet, so nobody knew that you were back, so it was easy enough for you to leave without worrying your family.
Packing a few clothes into a bag, you set it by the door and wondered into the kitchen looking for something to snack on while you waited for your sister.
Pulling out some chocolate, you sat at the table and hummed a little to yourself as you ate, eyes closed to give your head some peace.
You heard the door open and you reached for your glasses, putting them on.
“(Y/N)?!”
“Kitchen!”
There was the pounding of feet on the floor, and just as you stood up you were tackled into a deathly tight hug and you laughed.
You wrapped your arms around your sister and smiled to yourself, laughing again as she smacked your back.
“You were gone for months!”
“I’m sorry!” You laughed.
Donna pulled away and she sat you down at the table.
She reached over and took your glasses off, and you locked your eyes with hers, and she studied them for a moment.
“They’ve changed.”
“They have?”
“Yeah… I.. I don’t know how to explain it..”
You titled your head a little bit in curiousness.
“Is it a bad change?”
“No, but you’re going to need better sunglasses.”
“Crap really?”
Donna laughed a little and rooted around in some draws before she came back, putting another pair on your face.
“Not the best but it’ll do.”
“What’s taking you two so long!?”
You both turned your attention to the doorway, and Donna watched as the doctor slowly stopped walking and he backed away a few steps.
“Donna, (Y/N), you need to leave the kitchen…”
“Why?” You asked.
He pulled out his screwdriver and went quiet for a moment before looking at the pair of you.
“There’s something in here.”
Donna looked at you, and you pointed to yourself, telling her it was you that he was actually talking about.
You thought for a moment, grabbing one of the crystals you had on the table you drained some of your power into it and got up.
You held it out to Donna and she pocketed it and you both left the kitchen.
The doctor walked in and did his thing before he came back into the hallway.
“It’s gone, did you two notice anything different, feel anything different?”
“No, maybe your screwdriver is messing up or something Goldman.”
You grabbed your bag, and Donna grabbed another bag, following you out to the TARDIS.
The doctor looked at the kitchen again, giving it another check over before leaving to go with you both.
You kept the smaller bag hidden away, keeping it with Donna’s belongings on the TARDIS.
You couldn’t go near it, every time you did it caused a spike in the energy and the doctor noticed this.
He was a bit unsure about the idea of you running around with them, and usually where he went the doctor made you with him, just to make sure you were safe.
And it was no different in the planet of the ood, and you were surrounded with the doctor and Donna as they screamed they were friends of the ood.
“You can’t hurt them!” You yelled, “we’re friends!”
The ood looked at you, slowly tilting their heads a little to study you for a moment.
“Doctor Donna friends of the ood.”
“That’s right, we’re friends.” The doctor sighed.
The ood kept their gazes fixed on you.
“You come with the ood.” One said.
“What? Why?!” Donna snapped.
You held your arm out to her.
“It’s alright Donna, it’s okay.”
You reached out, and grabbed hold of one of aliens in front of you.
“You’ll bring me back to my friends?” You asked.
“Yes.”
You nodded and willingly followed them, and when you were out of sight the other ood stood down, not answering the doctor and Donna when they demanded to know where you were going.
The ood led you somewhere dark, you assumed it was one of the many dimly lit buildings.
“We know the child of the universe, the starlight child.”
You reached up and took your glasses off, setting them on the collar of your shirt.
“Is that why you wanted me here?”
“The circle must be broken first.”
They sat down so you sat down as well, and you all waited in silence for the circle to be broken.
It felt like forever until it was.
“The darkness is coming.”
“I know, I’ve foreseen the coming of the darkness.”
“You will stop the darkness.” One said.
You furrowed your brows a little bit.
“How?”
“The starlight child must die.”
Your blood ran even colder than it already was.
“What…?”
“The starlight child must die, the universe will be reborn.”
“It can’t be reborn…”
“It will. The child of time and the child of the universe will be there when the darkness comes.”
“The starlight child’s past will be revealed, and true identity uncovered before the child of time.”
You know who they were talking about, it was the doctor.
“He doesn’t know yet.” You said.
“He shall know, all secrets must come to light. You will take him to the beginning of time, the birth of the universe.”
“Why?”
“The final place to stop the darkness, the key rests at the birth of the universe. The doctor must trust you fully, or the universe cannot be saved.”
“So he must know?”
“Yes.”
You clenched your jaw a little and looked down.
You didn’t want to tell him, not after what his people had done to you, but if the ood were right, what if this was your only choice.
You nodded your head.
“Alright, thank you.”
You put your glasses back on and stood up, and the ood took you back to the doctor and Donna, and they both hugged you tightly.
You turned to face the ood.
“Remember our words.”
“I will.”
With that you went back into the TARDIS, the sound of their song sounding through the whole area.
Going up to the console you put in some coordinates, took the crystals and sat down on the floor waiting.
The ood’s song resounded through your head so loudly you couldn’t hear anything else, so you didn’t hear the doctor or Donna come back in.
They didn’t see you either, and the doctor never checked the coordinates of the TARDIS as he set her into flight.
You took a deep breath and stood up, walking over to Donna you handed her the bag.
“What?” She whispered.
The TARDIS began to violently shake, trying to rid you from her, sensing you weren’t human.
“What’s going on?!” Donna yelled.
“You’re going to the beginning of the universe.” You said.
“Why?! What did you do?!” The doctor yelled out.
“Because the darkness is coming… you need to see the truth…”
Your knees buckled and your eyes rolled into the back of your head as you passed out from the sheer energy it was taking to ensure they got there safely

About the Ball, the safety of the angelic embassy and the importance of discussing plans
You know, I think there was actually one more reason for Aziraphale to have a ball in his bookshop. Not just for the sake of having a dance with Crowley or make Nina and Maggie fall in love – though, of course, the idea of it happening was present and pleasant for the angel.
I first thought about it few days ago while rewatching episode 5. Do you remember how insistent Aziraphale was on making everybody going to the meeting, stooping to direct temptation to achieve 100% attendance? Yes, yes, I know, it was for the ball where Aziraphale planned to dance with Crowley and (maybe) make a step further in their relationship. But if you think about it  - yeah, Doctor Who fan provided music, but why would Aziraphale need a magician and his partner for this meeting to present? Even if both magician and DW fan had declined, there still would have been Nina, Maggie, Mrs. Cheng and her husband, French restaurant owner, Mrs. Sandwich, Mr. Brown, some other people…it actually seems the whole street except for first two men agreed to come without any problem. It’s not like two random people would make any difference – neither for Crowley (he doesn’t even know or care about them!) nor for Nina and Maggie.
There also was that subtle face change, when Nina and Crowley couldn’t see Aziraphale – he’s suddenly a lot more serious than during his talk with Crowley, and even a bit concerned about something?
Tumblr media
Now, we know (and  Crowley doesn’t) that Aziraphale is aware that Shax knows about Gabriel. It seems Aziraphale totally forgot about that danger focusing on the ball….or not?
You see, while the bookshop was a center of demons’ unwanted attention, it was also (paradoxically) the safest place for mortal to be in the Whickber Street at night in case demons attack (and it looks like they only attack at night). In theory, at least. We saw how demons followed unassuming Maggie while she was heading to the bookshop – hardly with good intentions. We also know the bookshop is technically an embassy and thus safe from demons – unless you go out the doorstep on your own like Mr. Brown or invite them like Maggie. Otherwise all demons could do was breaking the windows and shouting some nonsense from the street.
Actually, even Crowley agrees the bookshop is the safest place for Nina to be at that night:
Tumblr media
So that’s can be why (I assume) Aziraphale was trying to invite everyone on the street – he knew there was a chance of Shax arriving, and had in mind people of Whickber Street would be safer inside. That’s why he  didn't bat an eye when Crowley told him about demons outside – he knew it might happen and actually took measures! He even explained it!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There is actually nothing to worry about! Humans will be too busy the whole night, dancing, talking Jane Austen style and trying to figure out which guest is the seamstress and which one is the seamstress – and wouldn’t even notice something unusual happening outside. In fact, Aziraphale and Crowley might even dance (while Shax helplessly looks at them from the window) and even kiss – what can Shax do, with them being inside an embassy? The whole London might be destroyed, but an embassy will remain safe – like at that concept picture:
Tumblr media
….At least he thought so. You all know how it ended. Demons broke the window, Mr. Brown went outside and was taken by demons (so, ‘keeping humans safe’ idea failed), and only then Crowley bullshited their way out by convincing Shax ‘civilians’ should be evacuated.
You see, it wasn’t a bad idea, per se – using available props, like demon-proof building, or summoning/discorporating circle later. But it was a terrible plan, as it didn't take into account the various subtleties – would demons be able to draw attention to themselves even if they can’t enter? How humans might react if they notice something and how to keep them safe at this case? What to do in case demons stay – they definitely can wait for a long time – longer than humans will agree to stay for sure?
And you know what could have made this plan better? Discussing it!!!!! With Crowley!!! With Crowley actually discussing it, not just disregarding it, cause the idea is good, it just needs some revisions. That’s why there is such thing as peer-review, for God’s sake, to see errors caused by cognitive distortions!
(And then Crowley in his turn ignored Azirapjale’s attemption to suggest and discuss some plan – maybe about activating the circle? That actually wasn’t a bad idea too, but shouldn’t have been the whole plan)
But if they discussed the demon-proof embassy plan, Aziraphale would also have to mention that he had met with Shax, and he didn't want to talk about it - for whatever reason. Probably the same reason why Crowley kept silent about his meeting with Beelzebub, Shax’ threats, and Jim's "prophecy" of the tempest.
A severe case of miscommunication disease, the main villain of these series; The Metatron is no match for it.

red white and royal blue film thoughts n live comments below:
alex being scared of putting a foot wrong and thinking hey let me actually start off on a good note with someone who is familiar to me and henry just completely ignores him! lmao
romcom silly intro titles showing how different their lives are, through drawings with bad reputation playing. early 2000 vibes let’s gooo
“we’d ship the ashes to heathrow” lmaooo she is perfect actually
“white blond british” is so valid
henry asking the kids if they know who alex is just so he can watch all the kids shake their heads in unison
it’s funny how watching it i instantly pick up on the fact that henry has a thing for alex more than alex having a thing for henry
alex. eyelashes. eyelashes. alex
henry’s bitmoji has a crown. he made sure to add headwear
the text montage was such a creative way of going back and forth rather than just showing texts on the screen the whole time
henry’s face when the girl randomly sits on alex at the new years party needs to be studied i think
see i kind of like how they’ve leaned into the fact that in the book henry has loved alex for years and never thought he could be with him because we don’t get that perception in the book. but in the film it’s clear as day that this little guy is so secretly happy about getting to spend time with alex and then alex kisses two random girls at the stroke of midnight and henry is like: oh {something beautifully tragic and poetic}
idk why but henry’s little ‘here’ text sort of sent me over the edge
a black woman as the pm of the uk? we can dream
ok but the look of absolute relief, and awe on henry’s face when alex kisses him in the red room. he literally has to pull away in shock to see if alex is being serious like wow
“i hated how fit you looked” hehehe
the little just putting it out there about their sexualities was so cute and sweet
the way alex is just very much always himself but henry swings violently between so soft and earnest to ridiculously sarcastic and insincere about everything is so !!!
it is … [a mouthful] 😏😏😏😏
the fact that henry thinks he can only belong to someone else momentarily … is really something
“i went to an english boarding school … trust me you’re in good hands” HENRY FOX
i’m the first person to say sex scenes are really unnecessary but why was that actually so sweet and tasteful?? wow
again the addition (i’m sure it is) of alex talking about how important it is for people to see people like him in politics, saying that henry doesn’t understand and henry saying: “i’m learning”. it was such a cute important moment
henry and alex giggling in the hotel room in texas as they take each others closes off. best thing in the world actually
ok sorry henry is SO charming with his little “once unsuccessfully” comment like SIR stop
“where IS SHEEEEE? HELLO HELLO” lmaoooo
alex’s ability to not hesitate in the slightest about not seeing henry again always gets me
“i want you chewing on a crumpet by sunset” ok her lines are actually killing
alex saw henry letting loose being himself just living his best life and had to take a deep breath in because he was realised he was so in love
henry literally throwing himself overboard rather than hear alex say that he loves him. that was … HELP ME HELP ME HELP ME
very much needed alex to be screaming and swearing in the rain outside the palace but we cannot have it all i suppose
the way ‘i can’t help falling in love with you’ is such a top tier romantic song and they danced in the prettiest museum in london
ngl them sneaking into the v&a and that being leaked feels better than them just randomly kissing in the back of a car
a part of me until you have all of me was the sentiment to kill me dead. the addition of the exchanging of items as well was such a clever touch, considering how much that key meant to alex
ok but the way henry thought alex would never love him but alex did not only that but also said he would patiently wait for henry until he was ready. he constantly looks so shocked that alex is so ready just to be his urgh
“love sick homosexuals” no seriously why does she have the best lines in the world
staircase moment quite nearly killed me
alex watching henry play piano with this big smile on his face and then trying to play the national anthem whilst henry is just like: :D
it’s so cute because the film has really picked up on the idea that henry admires alex and his ability to just be himself so much
the bit where henry was going to reach down to play with his ring but realised alex was wearing it on his finger … the little look because they’re so connected
the little balcony moment was so cute, seeing all the little flags waving felt like such a moment
henry just running after alex rubbing his back making sure he isn’t freaking out on election night and then being like i wore a yellow tie :) it’s meant to reminder you of texas :) and alex just instantly hugging him and feeling better
really loved how they had the ending be the same as the book in terms of them walking into alex’s home. the little: “lead the way darling … OK well i took my first steps here” just took me out
so:
overall the cutest little romcom ever. it had comedy and chemistry and it was sweet. it was what it said it was
i actually didn’t find that it went too fast in terms of their relationship because it felt like so much had already sort of happened between them if that makes sense? so so so much was said through their facial expressions, like it was insane how much actually? i also felt like the paris sex scene added so much to their relationship because it just felt so ridiculously intimate and i felt the shift into something so much more serious between them
i wished we got a few more scenes (idk why but i wanted david and alex to meet lmao)
again the addition of miguel was something i got? didn’t like it but got it because i think the book leak idea was a little too complex or would have taken too much time to build up (aka too much time away from alex and henry). he was just a bit of a creep lmao
i definitely feels like it will be appreciated and understood so much more by people who have read the book. the idea of them both loving each other before we saw them at the wedding was felt within the book a lot more. the way alex had a photo of henry when he was younger and henry was so taken by alex back then was never said?
i also … don’t shoot me but … didn’t really miss june that much? like nora was fine but even if june was there i feel like she would have had the exact same vibe as nora. basically a sound board for alex in regards to henry but they didn’t delve into their family history or had their parents divorced which again … i kind of get? it feels like they were interested in alex and henry’s relationship more so than the building blocks to their individual personalities and they definitely sacrificed elements of complexity on alex’s part especially
the scene in the book where alex rings henry and just complains about his family is such a little turning point for them and would have been lovely to see in the film but like i said … i kind of get it
henry and alex were perfectly cast in my eyes. henry was so endearing and charming and complex and they nailed all of that and alex was loud and passionate and unapologetically himself
having read the book and found it hopeful and optimistic and so so charming, the film was exactly that too

Flufftober Day 30: Self-Worth/Self-Love ~ James Norrington/OC [1.973 words]
My Flufftober '23 masterpost can be found here, and my behemoth of a main fic about these two is here 💜✨
This is the final bit in the little mini storyline I had going on with these - it's first referenced in day 10, it builds a bit in day 21, and we dig into it properly here!
Tumblr media
On their final night in London together, Theo had to concede that she hadn’t had half as bad a time as she’d expected. In fact, she hadn’t had a bad time at all. Sure, she spent the first couple of weeks waiting for all to suddenly turn bitchy towards her, using things she’d said when her guard was down to mock the begloved Irishwoman who may or may not have been a witch, but…it didn’t happen. And now their final social occasion, their farewell dinner, was drawing to a close, and she had to accept that it simply was not going to happen. Screw interdimensional time travel, this was the real miracle.
She’d even taken to dressing how she actually wanted to dress. Alright, leggings and band shirts were still out, but to her own tastes as far as fashions of the time went – rather than cosplaying as whatever she thought people would expect Mrs Norrington to appear. Which often meant dressing how Elizabeth would.
The last of their guests, Lord and Lady Montague, remained in the drawing room as the others left in order to finalise business, and everything was looking decidedly golden.
“I’ll confess, Admiral Norrington,” the older man insisted on continued use of James’ former title – a mark of respect, she thought, “I was prepared to come here, listen to some hare-brained scheme, before throwing what little gold and help I possibly could at it merely as a personal favour to Governor Swann.”
“Oh really, Henry,” his wife scolded, very half-heartedly, from where she sat beside Theo.
“I wouldn’t say it now if it had all proven true,” he pressed on. “I confessed myself impressed, by your plans, by your lovely wife, by you, by all of it. And very optimistic. You go forth with my full backing, and not just the sort that I offer out of obligation to save any awkwardness.”
Theo smiled, bowing her head as Lady Montague – or Alice, as she insisted she call her – squeezed her arm as if in agreement. Her experience with the upper crust of English society had begun with Beckett, and he was an act she had no wish to see repeated.
The Montagues stood, James and Theo following suit as Henry continued.
“I wish you luck, not that I think you’ll need it, going forth – and going forth with all the support you might need, from myself at least. And my contacts in the north. I’ve already written to them, I did so last night so I could reassure you of that fact before we saw you off.”
It was taking all Theo had not to start literally jumping for joy. As James expressed his thanks, Alice rounded on her and pulled her into a tight hug.
“Speaking of writing, you must promise to do so! You’ve been such a breath of fresh air, Theodora, I’m going to miss you sorely when you’re gone! You must come again. I insist, I really do.”
“I will,” Theo laughed. “I promise, I will.”
Her penmanship with a quill was improving, so with any luck James wouldn’t be obligated to scribe whatever letters she had to send.
The goodbyes were lengthy, but the moment they were out of the door and well out of earshot, Theo was hooting a laugh and throwing her arms about her husband in celebration – not content to let him downplay his success here. Only after that did the tiredness that had been culminating over the course of their time here really hit, and she returned to the sofa and sank down onto it with a sigh.
“You made an enthusiastic friend in Lady Montague. For life, I should think,” James said as he followed her in.
“Careful, James, you’re brushing against condescension – all that’s missing is a pat on the head and a good girl.”
Although that last part might be worth revisiting at a later date. He chuckled, walking to the bar cart and pouring them each a drink before he sat down on the couch beside her, handing her the crystal tumbler of whiskey.
“I know these things are tiring for you, but if it’s any consolation you handled it all marvellously.”
Theo made a humming sound, taking a sip and sighing. He was right – they were exhausting. Not even just because of the cultural differences, which one wouldn’t expect to exist between two such small neighbouring islands, but because of her origins, too.
“It wasn’t so bad as it was when I first arrived,” she admitted. “I…have more stable footing now, than I did back then. Don’t need to be paranoid that if I say my favourite colour is blue, it’ll be a secret code for I worship the devil every Tuesday night in these times.”
“No, that would be red,” he said drily.
“Duly noted.”
Back when she first arrived, it had been toughest. Having to constantly self-edit and really think over what she said before she said it, thinking of how she could skew an anecdote to fit the time – or if she could at all – by which point, the conversation had often moved on and she was left standing quietly like a lawn ornament to the side. With James, it had always been surprisingly easy. Even before he knew, when they were just talking, and he wasn’t trying to finagle details of her past out of her. And now she didn’t have to worry about it with him at all. A safe haven in human form.
It was Theo’s own humble opinion that she was at her best when she could speak her mind and crack her stupid jokes and, well, breathe. That hadn’t often been possible in Port Royal. Because they were of this time, and because they seldom shared her sense of humour – and going into this, she’d expected it to be more of the same. Amplified, perhaps, because this was London, where all of them had hailed from.
But either island life had made those there less friendly towards newcomers, or the old lot just really resented her for what she’d found with James. Then again, maybe arriving as a castaway, living in the jungle for a bit, and then running off with a pirate…multiple times…had something to do with it, too. Who knew?
In any case, she’d lucked out here – and she was relieved, but exhausted still. And more than a little sheepish.
“I’m sorry.”
“For worshipping the devil?”
He had not sensed her change in tone, thinking she was still joking. There was a precedent for that, wasn’t there? Theo was content to let it rest there, unsure if it was really a conversation she wanted to have anyway. But then he turned his head and regarded her fully, and the silence became a little less comfortable than it usually was between them.
“Sorry for what?” he asked, and then when she did not respond, asked again. “Theodora?”
“It…doesn’t come naturally to me. Not here.”
“What doesn’t?”
“The social side of it. Here.”
“She says as we sit here, drinking to her success.”
“We’re drinking to our success, don’t be daft.”
“I’m drinking to yours. Now tell me what you meant. Was someone unkind tonight?”
“Not at all. But…”
Well, they were having the conversation now. What good would it be to sit and make him pull teeth and figure out what was bothering her via a series of yes-or-no questions?
“…this is what wives are supposed to do, isn’t it? Here, I mean. Take joy in organising dinner parties and playing hostess and filling every spare hour of every day with luncheons and dinner parties and balls? Representing the team in the sophisticated social circles – the ones not inhabited by pirates and sex workers, anyway. It’s not exactly…”
A marriage to a fine woman. But she wouldn’t use those words – because they weren’t meant for her ears, because it would appear the matter of Elizabeth still weighed upon her (which it genuinely did not), and because it didn’t exactly convey how she felt. That made it sound like she doubted his feelings for her, or like she had no self-worth…which had never been one of her problems. God bless her dad and how he’d raised her.
“I don’t fulfil the traditional job requirements,” she finished lamely.
Then, though, she saw how he looked almost outraged by her words and winced.
“I’m not saying I don’t think you’re happy. Only that it would be understandable if you were…oh, I don’t know. Frustrated, now and then, at having a wife who you always need to explain to people.”
In all of their time together, they hadn’t ever really had a chance at living in a normal manner up until now. There’d always been some sort of grander game at play – some new adventure-slash-mortal peril tugging at their tailcoats. The bits in-between that kinda sorta resembled normality had been breathers. Blips between storms – between maelstroms.
James smiled a little as he bowed his head, and Theo wasn’t sure how to even begin taking the gesture. Had she really sounded that ridiculous? God, she shouldn’t have opened her mouth at all. But when he raised his head again and looked to her, the smile slipped away, and she knew her worry had shown on her face.
Sighing, he bent forward to set his glass down on the floor, and then took her free hand in both of his.
"Do you think I have none of the same fears? Three centuries of progress lies between here and where you hailed from. Between myself and then. And you have given up much for me…have sacrificed much for me..." as he spoke, he ran his thumb over the knuckles of her gloved hand. “I believe that you are happy just as you know that I am. But, sometimes, I do fear that one day you may grow to question whether it was all worth it. For you have sacrificed plenty, and I have gained much. I have gained everything.”
“Everything you’ve gained, I have too,” she insisted. “I never regret the choice I’ve made. Not even in passing.”
“And nor do I. I do not wish for a wife, Theodora. I want you. As you are. However you are. However you will be. And as for needing to explain you to people – if they do not possess good taste, that is their own affair. I enjoy being among the lucky collective who do.”
Theo felt herself flush, but he was not finished. He slipped one hand away from hers and brought it instead to cup the side of her face, thumb running across her cheek just as it had with her knuckles, urging her towards him so that he could kiss her – a kiss that was so slow and filled with such adoration that she was sure she wouldn’t be able to string another sentence together for at least an hour.
He pulled back, but kept her close, pressing his brow against hers.
“And I confess, if you suffered a head injury and began to take joy in little other than place settings and the town gossip, I should still love you but I would mourn it,” he teased. “You take little joy in these sorts of gatherings? Good. Nor do I. So I know I will never need to suffer through them unless entirely necessary – and when those times do come, I’m afforded the opportunity to witness you, to use your own wording, charm the pants off of those necessary. Now tell me, what facet of any of this is supposed to disappoint me?”
“What if I tell you I really am a witch?” she teased, pressing another kiss to his lips as if to prove her mood had lightened.
“I shall carry your broomstick for you with great pride,” he promised.

Not A Bad Saturday
Tumblr media
Synopsis: Quiet Saturday in with Mr and Mrs Malcolm Tucker during a heat wave.
A/n: shameless fluff. Self insert. Yea...also Sam is bisexual. And it's set at the beginning of s4. I am not a well woman.
The thermometer on your window crept up into the upper-thirties. You had your portable air conditioning blasting in the living room, but it was too damn hot still. If not for the man laying on the sofa fanning himself with a file-folder needing to keep all eyes on his phone and television, you would’ve stripped down past your boxers and tank top.
None such luck.
It was a Saturday, but the work was never done…
You set yourself up in the kitchen and began lunch. Perhaps it would be a welcome reset.
Nothing complex, just a bunch of vegetables in some vinegar and oil with some soft cheese from the fridge. A bit of crusty bread ripped from it’s loaf. Nothing special. Your soul would repel itself from your body if you dared with any appliances.
You looked again, it had just hit forty. This damn heatwave was threatening to kill you.
You suddenly had great sympathy for all the snotty office drones in those buildings that had to maintain a dress code. Not you though, couldn’t be fucking you.
You started to slice up a watermelon and placed it in the fridge for snacks later. The chilled slices would be absolutely crucial if the temperature got any hotter.
You offered him a plate and he started picking at it as he went to send a particularly vile voice-mail to that Nicola woman.
You had met her a few times and she seemed dull as eraser crumbs. However she got her position in life was beyond you!
Being Missus Malcolm Tucker had many Perks, but those were the Draws. All dressed in a nice dress, surrounded by dull people whom had you willing to open a major artery.
You didn’t know how he did it day in and day out.
At least you felt like you were the glowing star at those events. After the initial controversy of his and your age-gap had worm off, you’d taken to stride your rare, but dutiful role as ‘Politics wife at a public event.’
The pay-off afterwards for dealing with them was always your favorite part.
On the now, you flopped down on your favorite chair and pulled lightly at your tank top to get the cool air in your body a bit easy. You grabbed a book and started flipping through it.
Eventually, you heard your husband power off his phone and click the telly off.
“Enough of that.” He declared. “Christ, it’s so fucking hot out!”
You nodded along.
“Want to go out to the terrace? There fresh air may help. Being cooped up does no one good…” You reasoned with your husband.
“Aye. That’ll do.” He peeled himself off his space on the sofa and got up with a groan and stretch. You caught a small glimpse of his midriff and you had several thoughts that you would have acted out on if not for the heat.
“What’s that face for?” He inquired.
“Wouldn’t you like to know…” You rolled your eyes and cracked your neck.
He just shook his head and wandered out and you grabbed the chilled fruit from the fridge.
You also grabbed him a drink. The man was severely close to being dehydrated and had the diet of a hummingbird. How he raged on for decades on Red Bull and Curly-Wurly’s without any A&E trips was beyond your comprehension.
And kept his body so thin…
A man of many mysteries.
“So I was thinking of us taking a holiday soon.” He said once you sat down on the chair next to him.
“Fair. Better be somewhere glacial. I won’t live if it’s like London.” You jokingly put out guidelines.
“Ah, no, a fucking all-expenses paid trip to Hoth!”
“You’ve been hanging around that Reeder boy too much.” You sarcastically laughed as your lips pursed.
“He might replace me.”
“And that’s how we know the end times are near…”
Malcolm not working? Perish the thought! His brief forced resignation nearly killed him. As much as he loathed the job and all it’d players, it did give him a sense of duty.
It was good when men had hobbies, right?
“That it fucking would be.”
You nodded.
“Drink.” You ordered.
“Fine.” He responded with petulance.
You started munching on the watermelon and staring blithely across the garden.
“What about Iceland? We can go to the thermal baths and hunt puffins. It’s got to be cooler there. And aren’t there no mosquitoes? Spa time would be…relaxing.” You scrounged around in your brain for information on the country. It was only a short flight to and from. A short holiday.
“You’re always trying to get me out of my clothes.” He laughed in a faux-accusatory tone.
Your tongue rested on your teeth, twisted. “Uh-huh.” As if you were confessing to some great crime.
“Just skating past my puffin hunting remark? Damn.”
“My very best.”
You shook your head, “King of Spin." You muttered as you picked up a book you’d left outdoors last night. Some sordid little number about vampires and werewolves that came out a while ago that you had been meaning to read, but it kept escaping you. It was pure trash, but it was entertaining.
“I’ll ring Sam and see if she has any ideas, her and her fiancée recently did some ten-day cruise around the Elbe. Maybe they have some fucking idea on how to escape…”
“Give Sam and Zara my love.” You called out as you barely looked up from your book.
He went out to the garden to do a chat and multitasked by putting freshly-ripened veg and fruits on your terrace table. It took about five minutes but the conversation quickly (from what it sounded like…) veered into some catastrophe involving that bald man who’s eyes you felt were like crab shells. Jamie’s name came up a bit. And some emails.
“Good fucking riddance, Nicholson is out.” He beamed. “I’ll go get some salt, these are best enjoyed fresh off the vine, eaten like apples.” He showed you a tomato and you snickered.
How quickly he was able to change gears these days. At the start of your relationship it seemed like you were the side piece against the literal British government. Surely, he was falling fast for you, but damn, that bitch was jealous and didn’t like you being the apple of Malcolm’s eye…
It was always going to be something, but so long as you gave him peace and indulged him his emotions, it was working out. He could go so fast from work-mode to home-mode now.
Progress.
He returned quickly with the salt and bit a chunk out and sprinkled a pinch on.
He was right. It was good.
“Sam said your idea of a spa trip in Iceland was very overdue.”
“Ah, yeah, well, Sam’s smart. She knows what’s up.”
“Best damn PA, no one deserves her.”
You knew. Sam was lovely. Too cool and smart to be just a personal assistant. You reckoned she was the glue holding Number 10 together. And the fact that she was very gorgeous and very capable of giving anyone their shit right back at them? Admirable. She was untouchable and you wanted to be her when you grew up.
“Not a bad Saturday, eh?” Your husband said, finally back, content in his chair. There was a slight breeze now.
You agreed.
Not a bad Saturday, indeed.

I loved Jesus. He was my hero. More than pop stars. More than footballers. More than God. God was by definition omnipotent and perfect. Jesus was a man. He had to work at it. He had temptation but defeated sin. He had integrity and courage. But He was my hero because He was kind. And He was kind to everyone. He didn't bow to peer pressure, or tyranny or cruelty. He loved you. He didn't care who you were. He loved you. What a guy. I wanted to be just like Him.
One day when I was about 8 years old, I was drawing the crucifixion as a part of my bible studies homework. I loved art too. And nature. I loved how God made all the animals. Yhey were also perfect. Unconditionally beautiful. I was an amazing world.
I lived in a very poor, working-class estate in an urban sprawl called Reading, about 40 miles west of London. My father was a laborer an my mother was a housewife. I was never ashamed of poverty. It was almost noble. Also, everyone I knew was in the same situation, and I had everything I needed. School was free. My clothes were cheap and always cleaned and ironed. And Mum was always cooking. She was cooking the day I was drawing Jesus on the cross.
I was sitting at the kitchen table when my brother came home. He was 11 years older than me, so he would have been 19. He was smart as anyone I knew, but he was too cheeky. He would answer back and get into trouble. I was a good boy. I went to church and believed in God--what a relief for a working-class mother. You see, growing up where I did, mums didn't hope as high as their kids growing up to be doctors; the just hoped their kids didn't go to jail. So bring them up believing in God and they'll be good and law-abiding. It's a perfect system. Well nearly. 75% of Americans are God-fearing Christians; 75% of prisoners are God-fearing Christians. 10% of Americans are atheists; 0.2% prisoners are atheists.
But anyway, there I was, happily drawing my hero when my big brother Bob asked, "Why do you believe in God?" Just a simple question. But my mum panicked. "Bob," she said, in a tone that meant "shut up." Why was that a bad thing to ask? If there was a God and my faith was strong, it didn't matter what people said.
Oh...hang on. There is no God. He knows it, and she knows it deep down. It was as simple as that. I started thinking about it and asking more questions, and within the hour, I was an atheist.
Wow. No God. If Mum Had lied to me about God, had she lied to me about Santa? Yes, of course but who cares? The gifts kept coming. And so did the gifts of my new found atheism.
The gifts of truth, science, nature. The real beauty of this world. Not a world by design, but one by chance. I learned of evolution...a theory so simple and obvious that only England's greatest genius could have come up with it. Evolution of plants, animals, and us...with imagination, free will, love, and humor. I no longer needed a reason for my existance, just a reason to live. And imagination, free will, love, humor, fun, music, sports, beer and pizza are all good enough reasons for living.
But living an honest life--for that you need the truth. That's the other thing I learned that day, the truth, however shocking or uncomfortable, in the end leads to liberation and dignity.
I hope I haven't offended anyone with this article. Okay, that's a lie.
