Proseka friend told me that both God-Ish and All I Need Are Things I Like are being added to the game on JP covered by Nightcord (God-Ish) and Wonderlands x Showtime (All I Need Are Things I Like) and oh boy am I scared. They're also adding (Not) a Devil but it's not covered so I'm not worried about that
#look. I didn't like the nightcord non-breath oblige cover. I don't think I ever went into detail as to why but I really don't like it#I think. Non-Breath was a bad choice for them to cover music wise. I think God-Ish is better. because it's not as energetic#not a bad thing!! God-ish feels whispery which is so Nightcord's thing. Non-Breath was too high energy for them to pull off good#...so I'm gonna be double upset if they fuck up God-ish actually. there are a few aspects of h/l I don’t really like but they are absolutely, undeniably soulmates. they wouldn’t be happy with anyone else because they’re both freaks in the same way. insane chemistry. within literal minutes of meeting each other as adults they were vibing so hard they just decided to be best friends and their level of intimacy only went up from there
#I know I'm oversimplifying things but I simply thing h/l would be better if their book 2 backstory just didn't exist#but as it is they're absolutely perfect for each other in a way that I didn't really feel with novel wx#like by the end I thought wx was very sweet but I don't think anyone can beat h/l for how right they are for each other#not that I think their relationship is completely healthy like this is def some enabling of both self-sacr4ifice and like#being kind of evil#but it works? it works for them#and they do have some breathtaking scenes#wayyy better dramatic romantic moments than novel wx imo#better speeches too#their relationship felt very holistic in comparison. like they were best friends and in love and trust and liked each other#just as much as possible in every single way#novel wx had this...sort of antagonistsic relationship and all this fraught miscommunication and deceit and disrespect#and they do care about each other and did get closer but it never felt like they were on the same page#then bam confession and they immediately fuck and go get married#and it's such an abrupt and jarring change even if you could tell they both loved each other#but h/l developed so richly and organically and naturally#and YET. it was missing that element of having shared principles and was in some ways#a more juvenile and self-indulgent romance than wx was#so you know. mixed bag#tgcf txp

every time someone says "an should have been vbs's leader" or "saki should have been leo/need's leader" i want to . slam my head through concrete. oh you missed the point so bad
1. the "leader" thing is kind of really fucking insignificant outside of where each group's story begins and promo materials. it doesn't mean one character is the "main character" of the group. project sekai doesn't HAVE a main character in the first place it's not that kind of story. each individual character is equally important to not only their group's story but the over-arching story of the whole game
2. leo/need's story begins with ichika because she is ultimately the one that brings them all back together. not saki. it is ichika's determination and frankly stubbornness that gets through to shiho and honami. like, saki was literally ready to give up on reconnecting with honami! (out of love and respect for her choices but like) if she was the focus leo/need would have been honami-less!! but ichika refuses to let it go. much like she refused to let go of their friendships throughout all of middle school.
when the story begins, we see ichika burnt out and hopeless. but that's only after years of trying and trying and trying and trying again to reconnect with shiho and later honami. this fandom does not understand ichika's character well . she's not meek and she doesn't back down easily she's not some like... fumbling "girlflop" she's incredibly driven and strong-willed. she lost some of that due to depression and isolation but as of leo/need's most recent arc ender she has pretty much regained her fiery spirit. she's leo/need's lead singer and MC for a reason
3. vivid bad squad's story opens with kohane because she's the only one who hasn't grown up/partially grown up on vivid street. if an or akito had been the "leader" we would have lost the magic of getting to know vivid street and its people and unique culture. it's all average every day life for them, but kohane is experiencing it all for the first time. it's only through her eyes that the audience can understand just how very special vivid street is
4. one more thing: you could say that the "leaders" represent the themes of each group and the general direction of their story arcs. vivid bad squad, among several other things, is all about improvement and growth and overcoming challenges and creating something new and finding a place to call home within a community. who better to represent that but the socially anxious newbie who never felt like she belongs anywhere and would never do anything with her life?
leo/need is about love and the ability to endure all hardships and preserve that love . it's about having a heart big enough to hope for the impossible and the willpower to make it reality. ichika, in all her hard-headed stubborn painfully persistent glory, is perfect for that.
similarly, mafuyu isn't nightcord's leader because nightcord is ultimately about healing. hope. finding a way to make life worth living again. these aren't paths he would have chosen on his own. he gave up on himself a long time ago. as did ena and mizuki, in their own ways. the best person to represent hope is the one who refuses to give up on anyone and stubbornly believes she can save them all
wonderlands x showtime is about moving forward to a brighter future and not letting the past keep you shackled in place. it's also about having lofty dreams and the selfishness to pursue those dreams. both of these things are why emu Isn't wxs's leader; she lacks that selfishness (i'm not using this word in a negative sense btw; i think being selfish can be a good thing. and sometimes being selfless is a bad one) tsukasa (and rui) has, and she often clings to the past.
and as far as more more jump and all their own themes of hope and never giving up go, of course their leader has to be minori. she brought three disillusioned, jaded ex-idols hope and reignited their passion! she's the walking embodiment of hope itself

Akito:
Akito's childhood was neither here nor there, so you both faced a lot of problems together
Any time something went down in his family, he would immediately go to you, not saying anything as he simply wanted to be in your company
When you end up moving away, he's not sure what to do with himself, but he tries to forget about you
Of course he doesn't, he still remembers your favorite color and favorite snack when you were young
You end up bumping into him while he's doing a street performance. You both met eyes as you were walking, and the shock of seeing him again makes you freeze
He's distracted for the first time, barely able to remember his set list as he keeps his eyes on you. There was no way it was you, right?
Immediately afterward, you both run to meet each other, and he can't help himself from hugging you. "When did you get back here? Ah whatever, I'm just glad to see you again."
Rui:
Rui's childhood was...something, to say the least. You were his best friend and he stuck to you like glue
You were with him as he started to get into robotics, encouraging his schemes and plans even when other kids started treating him as a weirdo
Your departure from his life shatters him, but he tries to move on as best as he could
He never moves on. He gets reminded of you all the time, and it kind of breaks his heart.
However, it all changes when you of all people come up to him after a WxS performance. Granted, he didn't see you in the crowd, but you recognized him
You went to tell him how good he did in the show, but he found himself bewildered to be face to face with you again. He almost cries, but he hides it as he embraces you
"Oh my god, it's you..." He whispers, still in shock as he pulls back to smile at you, "I've missed you so much." You spend time catching up with him afterwards!
Tsukasa:
Growing up, Tsukasa had quite the childhood. You were one of his only friends he had growing up
You stuck with him throughout elementary school, helping him as Saki went to the hospital, but you were forced to move away once you both grew older
He promised that he'd find you again one day, and kept a little charm you both made once close to his heart
He never backed down from a promise, and made sure to keep looking out for you even as the years passed
Finally, finally, one day, he saw you walking around Phoenix Wonderland. He recognized the charm you had almost immediately, and practically screamed your name
You were surprised to hear your name in the middle of an amusement park, but when you saw the man currently barreling towards you, it all made sense
He tackled you in the tightest hug he could, already excitedly talking your ear off as he looked you over, his eyes sparkling brightly. "I told you we'd see each other again!"
Mizuki:
You had stuck with Mizuki through a lot, they had been through a lot growing up after all
You had been with them before middle school and through the first year of it, however you both had been separated after you were forced to move
They were extremely upset about losing you, and they would always find themselves missing you on the loneliest of days
As the years passed, they never expected to see you again. It had been way too long, there was no way...
But, when they were out at the mall, they saw you from a random shop and almost dropped everything they had bought in their haste to see you
They called your name out, and you turned to look at them, surprise evident on your face. You both embraced, and you comment they seem happier, especially with how they've changed
They can only smile wide, squeezing you tighter in a hug as they looked down at the ground. "I think I'm even happier now that you're here."

wait can you please speak more on WWX qi deviating after the LP confrontation with JC? I've always wondered what that sudden sickness was.

Of course! I think this detail is often missed because of the rest of the drama and overall poignancy of the scene. It's also never outright stated as a "qi deviation", but MXTX expects us to use the information she gave us in prior chapters to arrive at such a conclusion ourselves - as she so often does.
Not long before the scene in question, WWX and LWJ were a major part of the driving force that saved everyone from an onslaught of fierce corpses intent on attacking them all at the burial mounds. He was exhausted from that and even though he claims to have been exaggerating to "trick" LWJ into looking after him while on the boat to LP, he was still feeling the effects of the past few days catching up with him. After all, he was stabbed a few days prior to them travelling to Yiling as well.
All of the above, alongside the heightened emotions of the past few days; realising his feelings for LWJ, how deeply he feels them, if LWJ feels the same way, coming back to LP after such a long and traumatic time, living through a second siege of the burial mounds and facing his trauma head on at the very place he died - all quite an emotional rollercoaster for our beloved WWX.
Then the altercation with JC, where he is being verbally abusive, just pushes all those overwhelming emotions over the edge and causes WWX to have a minor qi deviation. That being said, it could have been fatal, as qi deviations often can be. Which is why some fans find JCs unwillingness to stop attacking WX (both verbally and physically) and refusing to let them leave when WWX was showing signs of his health deteriorating, all rather underhand. It's also why LWJ lost his cool a little and WN served him a verbal bitch-slap to shut him up and finally make JC understand just how much WWX has done to pay back his "debt" to the Jiang sect.
WWX was under great emotional stress at the time, feeling attacked for not only being in love with LWJ, but being once again wrongfully blamed for everything that happened at LP - which even JC admits is simply not true.
Qi deviations can occur for many reasons. I won't go into it too much right now, but one such reason (in the MDZS universe) is being greatly affected by emotions or becoming emotionally unstable. WWX is so overcome with all those strong emotions he begins to bleed from "the seven apertures" and even starts to faint, finally losing consciousness - which are signs of a qi deviation. We see examples of this earlier on in the novel with LQR and the cultivator who escaped the Mingshi for help once they all began bleeding from the apertures and essentially qi deviating. And again when LQR wakes up to shout at WWX and qi deviates once more - which is hilarious 🤣Obviously NMJ, and his father before him, both suffered similar symptoms before qi deviating and eventually succumbing to gruesome deaths as a result as well.
So there you have it anon ☺️ that's my understanding of qi deviations (in the MDZS universe, as the term/cause/effect can differ from one fiction to another) and my reading of the novel. I hope it helps to answer your question to some extent!

unlike rui, akito didn't hide it as well. fortunately for him, you just assumed he was busy practicing with vbs, hanging out with his friends... it was the holiday season, after all. even then, you really missed him and his presence.
unbeknownst to you, however, he was actually working hard and saving up money to get you something special. toya, an, and kohane all love you too, so they helped chip in some money!
the way akito gave you his gift was short and simple, yet still full of love. it was at the end of a date when you were about to go back to your home.
"oh, right, before i forget..."
he cleared his throat, now handing over something to you. you carefully unwrapped his present, realizing it's something you've been wanting for a while now!
... at the same time, it was also something that was on the pricier end.
"akito, how did you... you can't afford this?"
a bit of a ridiculous thing to say, considering he already bought it, but it still shocked you. he really got this for you, despite the price?
not to mention, he even paid for everything during your date...
"it's okay. i just wanted to get something for you."
"you're spoiling me too much today..."

just to clarify that a majority of these are just my personal experiences and that i am simply projecting my feelings onto these funny theatre kids. aromanticism is a SPECTRUM and this is simply where i fall on it. i hope some of it possibly makes sense to an aroace spec folk out there. tsukasa who misses romantic social cues like how he (probably) misses flies with a fly swatter. tsukasa who doesn't understand what's so special about a boy and a girl being friendly classmates. tsukasa whose only perception of romance is from the musicals and movies he watches. tsukasa who studies these musicals and movies down to the very bone to understand what being in love feels like for a show role and feeling hopelessly dejected when it doesn't work. tsukasa and his stupid tribute to romeo and juliet with scientifically incorrect terminology and a cheesy, overdramatic monologue about marrying the love of his life
emu who doesn't understand the social rules behind affection and what defines romantic affection vs. platonic affection. emu who has been misunderstood over and over for her friendliness. emu who feels giddy when her friend gets into a romantic relationship but feels indifferent to romance when it involves herself. emu who feels fulfilled and perfectly satisfied with the relationships she has now and doesn't yearn for something else. emu who doesn't understand why wanting "more" is so important to others. emu who loves to hug and hold hands with her friends and kiss their cheeks without a care in the world
nene who doesn't spare a single thought for dating because she believes the possibility of her becoming romantically involved is little to none, especially when she feels like she still struggles with befriending her classmates. nene who has panicked before, worrying that she was falling behind with the rest of her peers and would be left out. nene who has tried imagining romantic scenarios with random people in her life to see how she feels about it, only to clasp her hand over her mouth in disgust and have to take a walk around her room to clear her head. nene who admires the inspiring relationships the characters in her video games have with one another and wonders why she can't feel the same romantic admiration for somebody else in her own life.
rui who spent his entire life wondering if he really was a heartless monster, not just because he was considered a freak by his classmates, but because he simply could not reciprocate romantic feelings. rui who feels like a mere member of the audience, not the performer onstage or the director behind the scenes when observing romantic relationships. rui whose love in his heart would be considered lesser and unimportant because we live in an amatonormative world that ranks romantic and sexual love as the highest degree of love a human being can have. rui who grows to accept that he is not broken and not a robot and that love isn't something that makes somebody a human being. rui who learns to embrace how much he values the love in his own life, from how his chest warms during rehearsals with wxs to the raw excitement from discovering something new while twiddling with mechanical parts, to the dedication he has for his craft and the things others would consider trivial.

Wilson - Aroace
He cares more about science and being a smart ass than he does romance or sex.
Willow - Lesbian
She seems like the type of girl that scares men away on purpose... Gremlin woman.
Wolfgang - Aroace
He would rather settle down with a friend than a lover. The man also sees most of the people in the group as friends.
