Why is the unity game engine bad
Basically, how I understand it, is that Unity is introducing a new pricing plan/model that takes effect January 1st, 2024, that based on certain thresholds of how many download’s and revenue a game has made in the last year, game developers will have to pay a certain flat rate PER INSTALL, which didn’t exist before. Many people reinstall games or the like after buying it once, so every reinstall counts as a new install, and charges the game company.
So many developers feel rather blindsided, because they feel this could fuck them over financially, they’ve got threeish months to decide what they want to do and many are talking about delays to jump ships. Those currently working on a project are likely to swap over to avoid this. While charity games won’t be affected and they’re trying to clarify things to make it sound better because the initial drop sounded even fucking worse, it feels really rough still.
https://forum.unity.com/threads/unity-plan-pricing-and-packaging-updates.1482750/?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=company_global_blog_2023-09-13_updated-forums-faq
(This one has the statement:
Q: If a user reinstalls/redownloads a game / changes their hardware, will that count as multiple installs?
A: Yes. The creator will need to pay for all future installs. The reason is that Unity doesn’t receive end-player information, just aggregate data.
God damn!!)
Some sites for info—
While not the main point, there’s also concerns about the CEO selling stocks right before the news:
Many devs have expressed their distaste for this, the devs of Cult of the Lamb, has stated they will delete the game come january 1st. VideoCult has put the game Rain World on a 50% sale and mentions de-listing it. Innersloth, the minds behind The Henry Stickmin Collection and Among Us has stated this would cause delays, and many developers will feel similarly. Even if they backpedal completely on this decision, so many are probably not gonna use it now, shooting themselves in the foot big time.

Hhstsrgazersau?
YeP! The #HHStargazersAU or Hazbin Hotel Stargazers Alternate Universe (if we wanna get super technical about it) is an idea I've been cooking up for a bit and it's still boiling. We still have a few world building stuff to do before I can REALLY get to the thick of it's coflict, but I'm quite excited to get this idea out of my head (and hopefully into all of yours). Until then, please look forward to it! ^v^
Tumblr media
Fun fact: If you're wondering why I call it the HH "Stargazers" AU (since it's not really a spoiler), it came from my idea of what to call a Vaggie & Alastor "protective partners" duo. As they're both "watching" over their respective MorningSTARS, I thought it'd be really fun to call them "STARGAZERS" in general and it works for this AU too as it's about an Angel & a Demon guarding and guiding their chosen person in some way. -Bubbly💙

Chapter 110 is 13 pages long welcome to hell!!! so in a lot of ways this is just more fuel for a theory that I've had for a few weeks now, that's only gotten stronger with each recent season 5 episode, which is that the last episode of the season is gonna end on 110, and that Asagiri/Harukawa and Bones have been collaborating to make this happen, specifically because it's a major turning point that would be the only good place to end the season on.
When we started getting especially long chapters again (like from 25-35ish pages, with the exception of 107.5, the last two being some of the longest we've ever had), at first I just assumed that Asagiri/Harukawa got freed up from some other obligations they'd been having to cause the extremely short/half chapters, like promotional stuff for the anime/Beast movie, or working on light novels. But then 109 happened, with the "supposed" death of Dazai, and heavy emphasis at the end on how literally everyone is at their lowest point right now, and I got to thinking. 11 episodes is a strangely specific number for an anime season -- why not 12, or 13, or even 10, like you'd usually see? Why have we gotten suddenly gotten two 35 page chapters out of nowhere, that's almost unheard of at this point? They're both beautiful chapters, don't get me wrong (as always), and maybe A/H simply just didn't want to cut them in halves because they felt like the full emotional impact wouldn't hit/that there were no good cutoff points in them, but you can't deny that it's surprising, after all the shorter chapters we've been getting. Why has the anime been going at such insanely breakneck pacing for the most part ever since around the Sunday Tragedy chapters, even more so than it has in the past? So much so that it feels dangerously close to overtaking the manga?
Well, maybe, just maybe, it's because..... Asagiri decided a long time ago that whatever happens in 110 is the only point that feels "season finale"-worthy enough, in an arc that still isn't anywhere close to being completely wrapped up, and so both the manga and the anime have been specifically coordinated to reach that part within 2 and a half weeks of each other?
I've seen a lot of people now think season 5 will end with 109, and as much as my sadistic side would find that hilarious, I honestly don't think they'd do that and realistically don't want it to happen; it'd be so cruel to cliffhanger the anime for years like that, and just doesn't feel like a season cliffhanger BSD would do, a series that is ultimately hopeful and uplifting. Seasons 2 and 3 had a positive, conclusive ending; the only reasons seasons 1 and 4 didn't was because they're technically not really full seasons of their own, and are more like the first cour of another "season" that also came out that same year (seasons 1 and 2 both aired in 2016, so they're more like one big season, and seasons 4 and 5 have both aired this year, so they're also more like one big season, again taking into account how episodes 12 and 50 are not satisfying finales like episodes 24, 37, and hypothetically, 61, are). I really can't see season 5 ending with Dazai and Fukuzawa's supposed deaths, Sigma being unconscious and maybe close to death, Atsushi being vulnerable and limbless again, everyone we love still vampires, and the entire world being basically doomed; that's just too depressing and not like BSD at all. However, having said that, if it doesn't end there, there really isn't any good place to end the season before that, either, that feels in any way satisfying or like a finale at all. And so, to me, that only leaves after 109: chapter 110.
I think things are really gonna turn around next chapter. Like I said, everyone is at their lowest point right now, it cannot possibly get any worse, the framing of Dazai, Fukuzawa, and sskk at the end of 109 is telling us that; this is the time for the heroes to finally start winning again, with Aya being so close to pulling out the sword, and for all the thematic reasons other people have talked about to death that I don't need to go into here again. This upcoming chapter being so short again makes a part of me wary of 110 being "the one", so to speak, I won't lie, but at the same time, it's very possible that it needs to be that short because that's all the final episode of the season will be able to reasonably fit in, since it's already gonna be VERY close if they do make it all the way to 109. And at the end of the day, I don't doubt at all that Asagiri and Harukawa can make these the most monumental and game-changing mere 13 pages ever if they wanted to; a chapter does not at all need to be extremely long in order to be an important and impactful one, even if short ones we've gotten in the past haven't felt the most important.
An additional thought I've had, though this is much more crack territory than all this already is, is that since we know from Anime Expo that a Stormbringer movie at some point is highly likely (judging from Asagiri's reaction when someone brought it up), it's possible that chapter 110 and thus the final episode will involve the long-anticipated return of Verlaine and/or Adam, or at least some other major reference to Stormbringer, that would naturally and smoothly lead into a Stormbringer movie to explain things to people who haven't read the novel. It would make a lot of sense, especially since the s4 OP has the Old World sign behind Chuuya, which might be a hint that this has been in the works ever since seasons 4/5 were first in planning with Asagiri. We also know that Dazai and Chuuya's voice actors apparently struggled to record their lines together this season, which probably relates to 101 and possibly 109, but it could be 110 too.... I could be very wrong, as I'm no expert on this kind of thing, but I kinda doubt they would bring Chuuya's actor in for just the vampire growls, and Asagiri placing heavy emphasis on Chuuya's importance this season in that one interview gives me the impression that he's talking about much more than just 101/109. But that's the least solid evidence I have, that's just mostly based on vibes I get.
So basically, I think a lot of factors -- the unusual episode count, how close the anime is to catching up to the manga with three whole episodes left, the seemingly arbitrary recent chapter lengths, and the climactic events of 109 -- can tell us that 110 might be a very, VERY big deal. Again, there's of course no way this arc is anywhere near close to being finished, with so much left to address and resolve, but since it is currently incomplete in the manga, unlike the previously adapted arcs, if the anime was going to adapt it at all, they'd have to find a place that feels satisfying enough to end this season, knowing there won't be more anime for a long time after this, and so I think they specifically planned for that, from both Bones' and A/H's sides. 10 episodes might not have been enough to reach that point, but 12 or 13 might have been too many it wouldn't have been if Bones actually decided to slow down and let the story breathe the way it needs to, but this post isn't meant to criticize the anime, so maybe 11 was just right. And maybe Asagiri and Harukawa specifically pushed to make recent chapters longer than usual, in order to make sure that the manga reached the story content in 110 the monthly release right before season 5 was to end.
Is this just copium? Absolutely. Am I going to look like an absolute clown in two days when this post ages like milk? Probably. But the evidence is There, so let me just enjoy my delusions until Sunday, okay 🥂🫡
#bungou stray dogs#seriously call me a clown and point and laugh at me if I'm proven wrong all you want#but I really feel like there's solid evidence for this#either s5 isn't gonna reach 109 at all (but I seriously cannot fathom where you would want to stop before then) or they'll go beyond it#if they really do end it with 109....... well i'll give Bones kudos for having the balls to do that ig lol#maybe i'm underestimating (overestimating???) them idk#also just to clarify I don't wanna make it sound like I think Asagiri let the anime/Bones dictate the manga's pacing#like I'm sure these were his/their (him and Harukawa's) own decisions first and foremost#not that (if this theory is true) the anime had a major impact on how the chapters were split and that it-#-would have been extremely different otherwise#i'm pretty confident in that Asagiri does not do anything with BSD he isn't comfortable with#and he doesn't let anyone tell him how to write his story#I just feel like he worked with Bones to make this near-simultaneous release happen#BUT if this is the case I don't feel like it had any major effect on the writing/final product that is the manga#like the last handful of chapters have been so incredible#so I at least am still perfectly happy lol#(i mean i'm devastated and a nervous wreck but u know 🫡 in a good way lmao)#anyway 110 in two days please let this theory be true because I need some fucking hope already#please let Oda show up as Dazai's guardian angel to help (see what I did there-)#it would be the perfect way to end the collective season that is 4/5 with s4 beginning with Oda and now ending with Oda#Asagiri are you reading me are you picking up what I'm putting down please please a ghost Oda is long overdue please-#Oda Verlaine Adam just GIVE ME SOMEONE ALREADY 😭😭😭#MAYBE EVEN A TASTE OF THE FYODOR BACKSTORY TO TIE INTO HIM BEING IN ANIME UNTOLD ORIGINS. THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS

Just some quick info for anyone who might be interested- PidgiWiki has a bunch of high-resolution official PMD artwork archived, as well as most of the official game logos!
When I draw PMD characters, I generally prefer to reference the official PMD artwork (rather than the generic main-series art), so this site has been a major help. Definitely recommend checking it out, even if you wouldn't necessarily need it for that purpose- lots of cool official art to look through on there!

For the OC questions: Could you tell me a little more about Whitney and Clementine? I thiiink they're sisters but is Whitney her guardian?
Of course, it's been a while so let me rehash some information about them:
Tumblr media
-They are sisters! At the start of Salmon Road, Whitney is around 28 yrs old and Clementine is 10 yrs old. Their age gap is bigger so people tend to mistaken Clementine as Whitney's daughter.
-Whitney becomes Clementine's guardian, but that was not always the case. There was a sudden death in the family that left Clementine without anyone else to care for her. Whitney was the last remaining family member who was eligible (and willing), so, Clementine's move to Bluegill Springs and her entrance into Whitney's life again was unexpected.
-They have been estranged since Clementine was a baby. Whitney left home to live with their Grandfather and Clementine was raised by their Aunt. She knows Whitney exists, but they don't exactly have an established relationship when they begin to live together due to Whitney's absence in her life thus far. They were not born into a tight knit family. It is something they have to figure out together due to circumstance.

How does the Kamo clan, and even the Zen’in clan, compete with the Gojo clan in anyway in ZoS? Megumi has ten shadows yeah, but I don’t remember his cursed energy ever being said to be boundless like Gojo and Shiki who was 2nd to Gojo at 9 in CE, and I think you said CE is mainly set at birth in this AU? I also just don’t see how Ten Shadows competes with Mystic Eyes+Shiki’s technique or Sex Eyes+Limitless, even if Megumi did have crazy CE, Maho is strong but vuln to one shot. And then the Kamo
In the current setting of zenith of stars, the Gojo Clan indeed possesses an indisputable advantage over both the Kamo and Zenin Clans.
Something to note about this, however, is that this is a recent development. The Gojo Clan didn't rise to overwhelming prominence until Gojo Satoru was born -and he's the first wielder of both Six Eyes and Limitless in hundreds of years for them. (Gojo Satoru is arguably also the strongest sorcerer that the Gojo Clan has ever produced, including previous wielders of Six Eyes and Limitless.) Prior to this, I'd imagine that the Three Great Families were roughly equal to each other in terms of power and influence, likely with the Gojo Clan lagging slightly behind the other two.
Megumi isn't a member of the Zenin Clan in zenith of stars, so he's unrelated to the Zenin Clan's posturing and politicking for the most part.
In terms of just cursed techniques alone, we have a canonical historical account of a wielder of Six Eyes and Limitless and a wielder of Ten Shadows killing each other. This implies that the abilities are regarded to be on equal terms with each other. Blood Manipulation also has the potential to be extremely dangerous. For example, if a user who was extremely skilled with Piercing Blood fought a Six Eyes + Limitless user who was not Gojo Satoru (and thus does not have an impenetrable barrier perpetually active) I could see them being evenly matched.

i doubt you have any ill intentions in doing this, but it’s been bothering me for a while- why does florian’s body body type completely change once they’re cursed? Because having a curse that causes a character embarrassment and shame over their physical appearance, also just happen to turn them into a fat person… is kind of a bad look. Not trying to accuse you of anything, it’s just like. Unconscious biases and all that.
So, I feel like I should talk about this! With Florian’s physical changes I realized that it could be an issue having him be fat in his clown form. I want to clarify a few things though!
1. I’m never, ever going to put emphasis on Florian feeling bad about his new weight, the other features of the curse like the constant smiling and overall clown ensemble is where the actual issue for him is. He’s a very serious guy and in no way would he ever want to come across as foolish, especially to those he knows. It has nothing to do with his weight.
2. I know you probably don’t know because I don’t ever post pics of myself, but I am fat! I know I can still have my own biases with weight, but I would like to choose which characters do or do not share my own body type. I’ve made several characters fat like myself in clown curse and will definitely have more, I don’t want it to feel like Florian is going to be the be all end all of plus sized characters in clown curse.
I’m sorry for the unfortunate correlation with Florian seeming like he feels bad about his weight, that was absolutely not my intention.

This is what's happening in the Netherlands.
Tumblr media
Municipalities see illegal sex work hundreds of times a year.

Mattress on the floor.
The working conditions are very variable. "From workspaces that are very professionally and neatly furnished to spaces where there is only a mattress on the floor in a polluted room," says the municipality of Sittard-Geleen.
Examples of workplaces that the municipality of Tilburg found during inspections: (see pictures above.
______________________
Tumblr media
Many sex workers move around and camp somewhere else every week. "They often come from abroad and live out of a suitcase," notes the municipality of Dordrecht.
The origins of the sex workers (usually women) are extremely diverse, but most come from South America, Eastern Europe or the Netherlands itself.
______________________
Tumblr media
Chances of being caught are small.
Amsterdam has the feeling that the illegal circuit is growing. "A conservative estimate is that approximately 6,000 sex workers were active on regular sex advertising websites in Amsterdam last year, the vast majority of which involved illegal prostitution. During inspections we regularly find abuses and exploitation."
Due to a lack of supervision, many municipalities see illegal prostitution as a risk. "The earnings are high, the chance of being caught is small and there is no prospect of voluntariness or [whether the sex workers are underage or not]," according to the municipality of Almelo.
Enforcement officers regularly wonder whether prostitution is forced. For example, Amersfoort came across a Romanian sex worker without papers and a tattoo with the name of a suspected pimp. Sometimes someone other than the sex worker speaks, which municipalities find suspicious.
______________________
Tumblr media
Different perspective.
It rarely happens that someone admits to working under duress. "There are often suspicions of a network, but not much information emerges in conversations or interrogations," says the municipality of Assen. "It also plays a role that sex workers sometimes have a different perspective on exploitation," says the municipality of Hilversum. Female sex workers often come from abroad to earn money for their families. "They have more income here than in their home country, even if they have to [pay a part of what they earn.]"
When municipalities discover illegal prostitution, they often choose to warn sex workers and possibly offer help. They can also close properties or impose a so-called cease and desist order on the owners.

poly philtatos (the most loved by far)
He keeps moving forward at a steady pace, resisting the urge to run because how fucking embarrassing would that be, running because he missed them, and as he breaks through the treeline he shouts, “Oi, oi—what took you guys so long? It's been—”
And then he freezes, because yes, actually—something is very, very wrong.
The Sunny is anchored just off shore, close enough to see the deck but far enough away that the crew has had to take the Mini Merry to make land. Scattered across the beach in various stages of chaos—rolling around, yelling, fighting—are his crew but not his crew, so similar and yet so, so different. They look younger, fresher, and whatthefuck there, on the deck of the Sunny just peering over the railing, he catches a flash of green—his own green hair—
“Ah, fuck,” he grunts, and then immediately turns back around because no, actually, he does not want to deal with this.
pairing: roronoa zoro/monkey d. luffy
word count: 24,853
ao3 tags: time travel; not a fix-it; major character death; spoilers through the end of wano; zoro protects the crew; and his captain; and does not realize they will go to the ends of the earth to protect him too; it’s all fine in the end i promise; mcd is a framing device only do not worry

i’m a black girl and i adore martha, and i think the tenth doctor did NOT deserved her whatsoever. i feel uncomfortable with the idea of martha being paired with the guy who put her through so much horrible situations and was even racist. bc i mean, yeah, the characters aren’t real and rtd is racist & the real responsible for his characters actions but no other character in his era behaved as nasty as ten towards black people. he brushed off martha’s concerns about her race and invited a racist to the tardis so they could have a romance together while martha was there, and he comparing her to rose as if she’s second best, to the point martha admits he can’t see her for who she is, he’s just remembering someone else—someone who he wished was there instead of her—rose. and the way he dismisses her pain in the last of time lords and cries miserably for the man who imprisoned and slaved her family for an entire year. i know the master is his best friend and they have this toxic and complex relationship, but i can’t see him acting the same way regarding the tylers or the nobles, he’d be so pissed off with the master and would prioritize rose’s and donna’s feelings. he’d be like twelve with clara and missy. i think ten’s writing is very racist because, well… he is. sorry. but he is. twelve literally punched a racist to defend bill, ten’s chosen a racist over martha… the fact that she literally left because of the shitty, unfair way she was treated... and as someone who has been in martha’s shoes too many times, i feel really negative and repulsive about this tardis duo, especially with the romantic view on them.
sorry i had to vent off as i’ve seen too many people who’s against this pair having their reasons unfairly invalidated. when most of us are martha stans who believe she deserves all the good things–which tbh is the total opposite of giving her a romance with… ten, out of all incarnations. i have been noticing the martha fans who have a romanticized view on their relationship love to act like everyone who’s against it have racist reasons for it, like. no. just no. we’re not delusional and that’s it
hi! i just got off work, but i've been thinking about this for a minute. my response will be long, as i feel this deserves.
i first wanna preface this by saying that not wanting the doctor to be with martha is more than understandable given how horribly he treated her in canon. i myself struggled through all of her season, and i'm still not 100 percent sure whether i'll be able to watch certain episodes again. absolutely, the way ten treats martha is horrendous, and i would argue that all of his actions towards her in canon are informed by the racism woven so deeply into rtd's era. but the thing is, i feel that saying that the tenth doctor is racist is not going hard enough.
to say that ten is racist means overlooking the fact that ten as a character is supposed to function as someone who pays attention to the intricacies of marginalized communities. this was the authorial intent. the fact that the authorial intent involved ten being consistently racist towards martha means that the bias that must be examined should not be centered around the doctor himself, but with the writers. the writers authentically believed that the tenth doctor was not being racist when he allowed martha to be objectified by shakespeare, harassed by the woman he would later profess the potential of love to & express a desire to travel with, regularly reacts with visceral disgust/discomfort when she flirts with him (that one is the one that's the worst to me!!!) and i feel like saying "ten is racist" limits the scope of how monumentally awful it is that the writers wrote all of those things and still believed that they were writing a hero.
the doctor is always intended to be viewed as someone who has the best interests of humanity at heart. the doctor has also always been written as someone who fights for the rights of people that have been marginalized and oppressed, who makes tearful and impassioned speeches for the humanity of people who are seen as subhuman. the tenth doctor especially is portrayed as someone with boundless compassion who can see the good in everyone and always wants to find a way to forgive and love. this is the inarguable authorial intention re: the tenth doctor. this is why, to me, saying that he is racist erases how fucking horrifying it is that he is written as Not A Racist Person, Ever, while spending an entire season being viscerally, brutally, repeatedly racist to martha.
to sorta demonstrate my point: i think harry potter is a much better example of in-text bigotry from a fictional character that goes hand in hand with the writer's bigotry. ron responds to hermione's crusade for the rights of the house elves with "but they like being enslaved, hermione," and the narrative demonstrates that ron is right. which, sure, fucked up of jkr for perpetuating this message about forced servitude, no question, BUT ALSO ron as a character was raised within a system that repeatedly enforced this idea of the house-elves liking their servitude, was given no reason to question this message, and is not the kind of person to question it anyway. this is so, so, so different from the doctor, who has always been the kind of person to question shitty behavior, to fight for what's right, and to seek for and admire people exactly like martha.
and now to loop back to my own thoughts on ten and martha! i feel that my little two-sentence posts on "martha and the doctor could be cute" definitely did not delve into what motivated my statement. i wanna stress one more time that, if you have watched canon and cannot ever see martha and the doctor together because of how awfully he treated her, that is 100 percent valid and reasonable and i would never dream of correcting you. my anger towards the people who dismiss tenmartha as a concept has always been directed towards the people who are saying that ten could never love martha like he loved rose. i am very sorry that you saw my posts and felt otherwise.
i do not romanticize ten and martha's relationship as it exists in canon. as with my points re: ten, this is a situation where i am responding to a glaring gap in the writing. if the tenth doctor really was consistently written, written as we are intended to see him -- as a person who is loving, kind, always looking out for the people he chooses -- i honestly can't see a timeline where he wouldn't have some sort of romantic feelings towards martha. i feel that a season three written effectively could still carry forward ten's complicated feelings for rose while also honoring the joy and wonder of martha -- specifically, by having ten avoid romance with martha not because she's Not Rose, but because he doesn't want her to be a rebound, and he's worried that admitting he's enamored with martha would mean stringing her along (which, of course, in this situation, he would still be doing). i think a compelling story could be written about martha responding to his awkward and halfhearted attempts to rebuff her while never really letting go of her hand. the narrative would shift so much more clearly away from the clearly racist message of "the doctor obviously could never love martha like that" and so much more towards "the doctor is in love with martha and deeply emotionally damaged, and she deserves better."
but, again, this is the way i choose to engage with the text! and i wanna be really clear that this comes from a place of wanting to articulate exactly how ridiculous it is that the doctor would not love martha, when everything we learn about him as a character in every other season suggests that he would and should love her. if you see this discrepancy and feel antipathy towards the character for it, that is absolutely your prerogative and i would never ever take that away from you. it is fucked up writing and we are all dealing with it however we choose to. if you wanna watch s3 and hate ten forever, i truly think you have every right to do it. this is how i personally choose to express my own anger, and i hope it makes a little more sense laid out like this.

ello all,
obviously you might've seen that poll i put out last week, to check interaction for a stranger things writers server, and it’s literally DELISH! to see some of you keen to join :D!!
i’m worried i’ve potentially pitched it as just a general server, so i want to clarify; this will be a writing server, for x reader writers.
we won’t be screening for that, there will no need to ‘give proof’ that you're a writer or anything whatsoever! especially because there are plenty of aspiring writers who find their feet in their own time & may be inspired in this chat and we would never want to discourage that — but this server is to be very writing-orientated. 90% of the channels are dedicated to discussing fics.
another reminder that this server will be 18+, and while it is for the older st teens, there will be no space for billy hargrove here.
you can message to ask for the link.
hope to see u there! mwah, ruby and sanne x
