You know, it would be amazing if Hollywood learned the right lesson from the success of Nimona. Something like "Hey, maybe don't throw out a nearly done movie as a tax write off" or "people want queer stories" or even "don't be afraid to take some storytelling risks and be original" but you just know they're going to come away with some absolutely batshit takeaway like, "next time delete all the evidence and burn it to the ground so the gays can't make us look bad!"

I saw a video today that said, “It’s very uncomfortable as an adult when your friend starts to date somebody who sucks, and you’re all looking at each other going ‘Guys, if this is the person who makes them happy…I think collectively as a unit we can agree that we would rather see them sad. So what's the plan?’”
And immediately went: modern Steddie AU were Steve dates his high school friend Tommy and everyone is tearing their hair out over how awful he’s being treated.
Ft. the Party, led by Dustin, hounding Eddie “I could get a man in a SECOND, I just CHOOSE not to date” Munson for help
However:
Eddie is mostly thinking the entire thing is a joke (King Steve and Tommy Hagan? Gay? Together?? Nice try Henderson.) until he runs into Robin. She laments that yeah, they’re bi, but more importantly, Tommy is fucking awful and Steve refuses to see it.
2. Eddie, maybe, kind of, still has a crush on Steve ("Stop laughing Gareth, everyone has--had! Had a crush on him!") and the guy was never THAT bad in high school---but Tommy Hagan definitely was and a little revenge would be fun.
and finally;
3. Instead of going with the kids' well intentioned but very misguided “Let’s get Eddie to Steal Steve” plan, Eddie meets up with the Robin/Nancy/Jonathan/Argyle/Chrissy dream team to figure out how to prove to Steve that Tommy is horrible.
Bonus: Robin and Nancy come up with a full proof multi step plan that involves Eddie pissing off Tommy in ways that look completely innocent. The hope is that Steve will see how controlling and unreasonable Tommy is, and break it off.
This hurts no one and just highlights to Steve Tommy's behavior.
Of course, Eddie goes off the rails immediately upon meeting Steve.
Instead of following The Plan, he, with the kids permission and help, gets Tommy to get blow up about THEM.
This is far more successful.
Bonus x2: A large amount of shenanigan's with the kids vs Tommy are involved. As is a scene were Steve breaks down and admits he knows Tommy is terrible, but Tommy puts up with him and Steve "knows how he is."
Eddie goes home, prints out a picture of Tommy and throws cheap ren fair daggers at it for at least three solid hours while he tries to think up ways to prove to Steve Harrington that his parents are wrong, hes very lovable actually.
In fact Eddie would very much like a shot at trying it out, thanks!
(It is also, inevitably, successful.)

What the fascistic hatred for abstract art and idolisation of only the Rational, Realistic Art, the only one that comes close to a science, the only one that can be excused as existing (because the more realistic it is the less you see the artist in it and the more it can conform to a standard) have done is unforgivable. btw
Fascism notoriously hates abstract art, and positivism's legacy was a degradation of humanities that led to a distate for art that couldn't be objectively graded on a clear scale or measures in scientific truths. The result is the need to be able to give a correct and rational value to art, and the scale chosen for it was realism.
Which inevitably brings the thought that was isn't realistic is bad, on principle! It is idiotic because art is inherently subjective! You cannot grade it in such a way because it is not meant to be a surefire and technically onthologically correct or incorrect pursuit, it is meant to be art, but fascism hates what it cannot grade as either superior or inferior, degenerate or inspiring, and therefore makes up ways to do that that actually have no meaning and make no sense.
+ It is also why hyperrealistic art is often soulless - not always - but think of (as the example that Jaja gave me, hi) those Instagram drawings of perfectly photorealistic lips or eyes. They all look the same. They all look maybe even incredible, but by virtue of all looking the same, they lose the artist. Could you tell if two drawings of the same set of lime-biting lips were made by different people, when they are so so similar, and so so realistic? What of the prevalent AI art artstyle, a mesh of perfect rendering, all looking the same? Where is the individuality in making all art look identical! Where is the artist in a drawing that does not show any stylistic choice!
The point is. Your art style isn't holding you back because it isn't "realistic enough." You can do what you want forever

Saying that the student communists commission Cindy for caricatures or mazovian yaoi is funny but it's even funnier when we consider that we mostly see Cindy do non-figurative art in the game (except that one stylized skull she drew). Like Ulixes asks her for mazov x nilsen and she hands him something like this

Live-Action Showrunner Interview: Future Romance
Anyone claiming this interview with the live-action Showrunner “confirms Kataang” in the future should probably actually read his answer to the question and be concerned he refers to the relationship as an “issue.”
*Everything I quote from the article has been copied as written in the original source. Including bolded words and passages.
[INTERVIEWER:] I have to ask this question, because I have wondered this myself, and also because I saw some of your interviews. But talking about the direction of Katara, who I think a lot of fans have interpreted in the original series as a little bit motherly - it's probably too motherly of a role for the character. And I'm glad that I'm getting the sense that she's not leaning so much in that direction for the live-action show. But speaking on that, her romance with Aang is something that is reflective of that mothering dynamic. Are there any plans to change that up? I know some fans enjoy Katara and Zuko, I'm just going to put that out there...
KIM: [Laughs]
[INTERVIEWER:] ...but I'm curious if you have any insight on that.
KIM: I will say, hopefully, I'm smart enough not to get involved in that debate, because I know how passionate both sets of fans are. And I was fortunate in that it wasn't a big issue in the first season for us. Because, you know, practically speaking, there are certain things you can do with animated characters that you can't with live action ones when it comes to something like that.
It's not something that we hit very much head on in the first season there. If you look carefully, there are little hints, especially in the final episode of what Katara is saying about Aang. So, we are obviously aware of where it goes in the original series, but it's more of a future issue and a future storyline to be dealt with. So I was, even for myself, I was very relieved to put a pin in it, so I wouldn't have to deal with it in the first season. But yeah, it'll be interesting to tackle that one.
I also find it interesting he makes sure to differentiate the original animated series from the current adaptation. Am I reading too much into things? Maybe. But, maybe not.
Regardless, I wasn’t really holding my breath for Zutara in the live-action- I’m just happy with any crumbs because it seems like writers can’t help themselves but add more Zutara content in the show, whether intentional or not. But, after reading this, I actually have hope.

I've seen so many fics where a) everyone knows about steddie before they do, b) a 3rd party gets them together because they're useless, c) put the idea into their heads to get together. But I'd love it to be the opposite, like everyone assumes that they're just good friends, that Steve has finally got a guy friend (that wasn't awkwardly dating his ex).
I'd love a relieved Robin, who's annoyed that Steve didn't tell her earlier, but glad beyond belief that she's not been replaced as 'best friend'. 'Thank God he's just your boyfriend, dingus.'
Give me a Nancy who's concerned at first that their break up was so traumatic that it 'turned' Steve gay, and she's then corrected and relieved (because she still loves Steve, just not like that).
Give me confused kids that are immediately grossed out (because it's them, not because they're both guys), but who were completely blindsided. Who gather to gossip and try and figure out if they should have seen the signs (which were so obvious in hind sight).
Worried Hopper, Joyce and Claudia, who are more concerned about Eddie's 'illegal extra curriculars' than anything else.
'I don't get it, Steve's such a good kid,'
'Well to be honest Jim, Eddie's never been anything but polite to me'
'because you're seeing his uncle, Claudia, he has to be nice to you!'
'I think you're being too harsh on the poor boy.'
'He's a drug dealer, Joyce!'
'He nearly died, Jim, and besides, the kids love him!'
In fact, the only people who know are Wayne and Argyle. Wayne, because Eddie has zero filter with him, and does not shut up about Steve at all, (but who's ecstatic that his boy is finally doing well and is happy).
And Argyle because he's just so removed from the situation that I (personally) find it hilarious that he'd clock them immediately. 'Good for you, brochachos!'

when one of your favorite fic writers started hyperfixating on something new, and you know goddamn well they only hyperfixate on one thing at a time, so you know goddamn well they're going to stop writing fics for that one ship you are in love with

i think what i'm most excited about with the live action series is how different it's gonna be.
like, obviously, it's live action, so there's limits on what they can do in terms of the crazier stunts, places, and people. the actors will have their own mannerisms and quirks they'll add to the characters that will make them distinct. it looks like it's gonna be a bit more grounded and less cartoon-y. but most of all, it's just so so so much shorter.
season one looks like it's gonna cover all the way up to loguetown, which was original a little over 100 chapters and 50 episodes, in about ten episodes. that's a lot to cover, and while they're gonna have to cut a lot of stuff, i'm so curious how they'll condense and change the story.
(it makes me wonder, with oda working with them, if it'll resemble oda's original plan for the story, which was gonna be much shorter than it ended up being. though, we won't know that unless oda says something).
it's just going to be so different than the original one piece, and that makes me really excited, cuz it'll kind of be like watching one piece for the first time again.
needless to say, i'll be ready to burst into tears

Irondad fic ideas #144
Peter Parker sounds just like Spider-Man. This is something that the students of Midtown find hilarious
Soon, Peter's getting comments in the halls like, "Hey are you that kid who sounds like Spider-Man?" "Uhhh I mean -" "Holy shit it's truuue" and, "Hey Parker, say, 'Hiya Mister Criminal'' "(sigh) Hiya Mister criminal-"
It becomes a daily bit on the school news: they put Peter in the cheapest, most ridiculous Spider-Man mask imaginable and get him to say wild stuff, whatever Midtown students can think of. Like that bit at the end of Honest Trailers.
(Peter may or may not go slightly viral saying some Stuff about the Rogue Avengers in his "Spider-Man voice." Tony may or may not nearly piss himself laughing about it when he finds out.
Spider-Man himself has yet to comment.)
