Industry people voted for Harry to win AOTY, 18,000 industry people vote for that award every year. Whether they think he’s manufactured or not is irrelevant because they’re clearly buying what he’s selling so who really cares? I’m sorry but I’m tired of the self soothing “oh but he’s manufactured and people know it” like… let’s not lie to ourselves to feel better. It’s easy to fall in the trap of thinking that karma is actually real and things will rectify themselves eventually, that we just need a little patience because surely this terrible person is falling out of favor, and people are seeing through them, and their imminent fall from grace is inevitable.
In my experience, that’s self soothing BS. Undeserving people have stepped on my back to get job positions I wanted and needed. My friends would go “oh but I bet your boss will see it if you work hard enough” or “eventually the true face of this person will show” and years go by and things don’t “fix themselves”, karma doesn’t strike, justice isn’t made.
The same thing happens in the music industry, probably ten times worse. As someone who’s been observing the industry for a while, Harry has managed to reach an echelon that very few people have reached in history. I’m talking, Justin freaking Timberlake never won AOTY. 49 artists have won that award since the Grammys were created. Of today’s musical landscape, of artists that routinely chart and are popular, the only ones to ever win it are Billie Eilish, Bruno Mars, Adele, Taylor Swift, and Harry Styles. You can add Kacey Musgraves to that list if you feel so inclined (I don’t, she’s not actually mainstream imo). That is an INSANE lineup to be a part of, and the day I found out he’d won it (the day after the Grammys because I refused to stay up just to get pissed off), was when I realized he’d won.
He just won and people are running in circles trying to come up with excuses as to why, actually, he can still lose. This is what he wanted and he got it, to a degree that I don’t even know he himself imagined (and people can spare me the discourse about his team buying Grammys because you can buy nominations but not awards, and definitely not AOTY, there’s a reason so few people have won it). Sure, we all know everything he lost in the process, but I’m willing to bet he doesn’t care and it’s all worth it for him.
There’s no degree of “the industry knows” or “fans will drop him.” The industry embraced him and he has fans in a chokehold, as much as it makes me want to break things. I let myself be fooled by the reception of his award on twitter, and then I came across a post about it on Facebook. People were outraged… that Twitter was mad. I kid you not. He pops up in my for you page on tik tok all the time no matter how many times I pick “not interested”. The amount of videos defending him and outraged about the person shouting during his acceptance speech. The amount of comments saying that Beyoncé was overrated (freaking BEYONCÉ. Overrated!!!????), that he deserved the win (!!!). The comments on YouTube and even in articles defending him. I truly truly gave up at that point. This poor excuse of a man could kick puppies as a hobby and they’d still be lodged up his ass.
bestie trust me when I tell u that I know all this 😭 I understand you probably just wanted to let your frustration out and I'm glad u did but like I 100% agree unfortunately lol I've always been the most pessimistic when it came to that man, and when I said industry people think he's manufactured I mean they probably know but also why should they care lol the entire music industry is a big manufactured mess built up by horrible men so they will support each other no matter what
and I do agree karma doesn't exist lol Good people are always pushed out by oppressive systems bc otherwise those systems wouldn't work anymore (that's why there are no good politicians and no good cops) and if we're talking about universal karma then good people always die and bad people live to their 90s rip
If u ask any of my friends here like @weareonejazzhand she can tell u I've been saying that we'll never get rid of that man now and we'll still be bombarded with his stupid biopic in 2050 and by then he'll have rewritten history completely lol

You have to know who to talk to, I’d say they’re choosing to actively not share it on the timeline but it’s being discussed in private. I think most of the people that know about the single know about the cover art, the title of the song, the duration of the song, who has writing credits extc but are choosing to keep it under wraps and wait for an official announcement to be made by the company so they don’t spoil it for everyone and out of respect for jimin ofc. Tea blogs just report what they hear is being speculated from other people and most of the time they’re incredibly off. Like that one account that said jimin was going to the met gala 100% isn’t because they actually knew he was going but everyone was so sure he was attending and they wanted to be looked at as credible so they went with it until it was proven to be false then they backtracked. Also the bruno mars tribute thing was something that was released by Bruno mars fan pages and they said a bts member was going to be on it and since it was all rumors they went with the members people kept begging for the most which was jimin and Jungkook
Yea I know tea blogs have always been full of it. That’s why looking back I should of just blocked all of them, but I was so hopped up on the possibility on getting more music from jimin it was a weak point lol. Was so excited for the mj rumor cause I’ve always thought jm’s and jm’s tones were super similar. Especially if you listen to his bridge in vibe. It’s very human nature. After a long, long lockdown, tweets and memes about the impending “hot girl summer”, the reboot of the roaring ’20’s, etc. were abuzz. While I’m not quite sure if these hedonistic fantasies fully manifested into a real societal phenomenon, the month of June was frenzied nonetheless. I was back in the city, semblances of regular life were beginning again, and the sun seemed to hang in the sky unbothered, a limitless background to the bright potentialities everyone was anticipating. June was hot; it was impossible to step outside in anything more than shorts and a t-shirt. Walks around the city meant being consistently covered in a layer of sticky sweat and being okay with it. All of this melted into a boundless energy: June was the month of freedom.
It was the beginning of a new phase of life for me in a lot of ways: I was starting my new full-time job, my first “real” career move. I had my own apartment downtown and I was finally living out the visions that consistently dotted my mind throughout the beginning of the year. I could traverse the city without a care in the world, walking or biking around and seeing glimmering faces dining, shopping, socializing, or leisurely taking in the world around them as I was. I was spending a lot of effort getting my apartment set up, mood-boarding my life away and scouring various vintage furniture Instagram pages for the perfect mid-century cabinet. This urban independence pushed me to embody the ’70’s; I imagined myself wearing patterned button-down shirts, long hair flowing as I browsed vinyl records to take back and enjoy while lounging on my mustard-colored sofa before getting ready to go to the disco. I could imagine this ’70’s chic lifestyle because it was so easy to emulate in 2021–I did exactly what I described, the only difference was that I had a smartphone or whatever.
Disco and Japanese city pop became the soundtrack to my city boppin’. Throughout the summer I hosted several of my closest friends, a privilege of having my own apartment. As tourists do, we fanned out and explored through multiple neighborhoods. I found that ’70’s disco, funk and soul music permeated the airwaves no matter where we were. Everyone seemed to be in on the same energy as me and they weren’t afraid to express it.
One of my favorite moments was returning to Nowadays for their Mister Sunday party in the backyard for the first time in a year and a half. It was the second party of the season and it still wasn’t fully back, only being advertised via a link for people on their email list. The party just so happened to coincide with the week that several friends were visiting, and it was so special having all of my favorite people in one place: my oldest friends were there alongside new friends I had made since moving to NYC. The rest of the crowd felt like friends too, a chaotic but supportive community of people who were all there to have fun. This was the first time I wore a frog hat to Nowadays, and it became a signature look that lasted the rest of the year.
Something clicked for me when I was on the dance floor that day. The sun was setting and rays of light were shining throughout the crowd; I was in front of the DJ booth, mesmerized by the analog equipment and vinyl records. I remember being in awe at the way the light reflected off the record, the sunshine and disco sounds blending into one. The dance floor was frenetic, and I looked back and saw all of my best friends smiling and having fun. I read posts on your page that discuss music you listened to and music that remind you of your kintype but I was curious about the other members of SEES and beyond them.
What music were you, SEES and other friends listening to at the time? And for fun, what artists do you think you all would be interested in today?
Yukari loved pop music but for some reason, she didn't like Kohmi Hirose as much as me. She thought her songs were played too much in commercials and got annoyed. Junpei was also into pop! Sometimes the three of us would share songs with each other or go to Kenneth Arnold (no clue why the record store was called that) to check out new CDs.
Yukari was secretly into groups like Morning Musume and even took inspiration from their outfits. I only knew one of their songs. I introduced Junpei to Orange Range and Asian Kung-Fu Generation, so we both listened to their music. He also listened to Spitz and Glay, and he introduced me to some of their songs.
Hiromi loved instrumentals. He only had a few songs with actual lyrics, and those were usually rock songs I had shown him. I never really talked to Kirijō about music, but she was often listening to foreign music. The other SEES members were private about what music they listened to. And in Aki's case, he didn't listen to specific music. He'd just turn on the radio.
Rio didn't know much about music. She'd ask to listen to my songs but she never knew the artists or titles. Sometimes she'd go "Ooh, this is nice!" when an upbeat song came on, so I think that's what she liked best.
Today, I'd definitely be into Atarashii Gakko! (just like I am right now). I think I'd also like Kenshi Yonezu. Junpei might be interested in BABYMETAL (for the wrong reasons), but I think he'd mostly listen to western music like Bruno Mars and Drake. I can totally see Yukari being a fan of Ariana Grande, but other than that, she'd probably still like groups like Morning Musume (I think they're actually still a thing but I never checked). Rio and Aki would most likely only know what they hear on the radio/television. And I think Hiromi would gradually move away from instrumentals and listen to bands like ivory7 chord.
Edit: Forgot to mention that I think Kirijō might like the Carpenters and Pink Martini.

I’m actually prepared for you Swifties to puff your chest out at me.
Again, normally I’ll try to blur out pictures and names, but again, what is this fuck shit?
The main difference between Taylor Swift and Adele that anyone can OBSERVE is the fact that Taylor is more attractive than Adele pre-weight loss and their sound. Taylor takes a more pop approach and Adele sound is more so lining up with pop rock.
And before anyone brings up Bruno Mars or Ariana. Taylor literally does the same thing over and over, just to a different sound. And you can’t say anything because y’all are the ones that created her wiki fan page. Meanwhile Ariana can make a 12 song album and only two are specifically about her ex.
And this is me ignoring the black women in the industry who receive the same treatment because they talk about sex (more explicitly) and their relationships. Hell many of them are labeled as a “Angry Black Woman” the moment they talk about breaking their things like they broke their heart, but Taylor does in “ Look what you made me do” and it’s empowering. Taylor is the embodiment of white feminism.

Dr. Lahela’s fans organize an online campaign calling out Edenbrook. It’s so successful Edenbrook has to release a statement apologizing to Bryce.
