community but make it GAY:
greendale does pride (the dean blows all the budget on floats he wants jeff to dance on. jeff is adamantly Not Gay but is ……… extremely flattered by all the attention he’s getting from guys. troy and abed go “as friends” but theyre wearing pride merch & holding hands and all the gay folks there are like ???uh guys??? britta starts an anti-capitalism-at-pride protest and no one shows up. shirley is hesitant but so many young queer students with unsupportive parents are thankful she’s there and she’s like Guess I’m Their Mom Now. annie is like I Am Making Out With These Women Because I Am A Supporter And Women Supporting Women And Female Power And All That. No Other Reason It’s Fine Don’t Question It. (pierce has died of influenza))
annie dating women but not calling it that and everyone’s like. so. you’re a lesbian. and annie is like how does this make me a lesbian??? i’m just not as repressed about female friendship as you all are. and they’re like. annie??????? she really doesn’t catch on for a comical amount of time
shirley week 1: live yalls life but youre living in sin. shirley week 2: i have joined the PFLAG
jeff gets jealous of a gay guy who has a lot of admirers and is like i’m going to show that guy up for NO PARTICULAR REASON i could have so many more admirers fuck him. im Not Bi i’m just hotter than him and i can prove it (turns out he just has a crush)
frankie has her first one night stand and she’s a W R E C K
troy and abed plan a wedding and everyone’s like. yall just became official not that long ago isn’t this a little too fast? in actuality they weren’t really planning on getting married, it was just so they could do homages & hijinks, but then the day comes and everything is already planned & they sort of realize like …. it wouldn’t really change anything if they were? so theyre like Might As Well and the ceremony is nuts but actually ends up being much more touching and earnest than anyone expected (b plot where annie is in charge of making the documentary and abed has been Training Her For This Moment and it’s like. a disaster but she does manage to get the very tender vows and its nice)
britta: I AM THE MOST SUPPORTIVE ALLY everyone: britta youre bi?? did you not know? britta: HOLY SHIT WHY DID NO ONE TELL ME???
britta: my Therapistic Diagnosis is that you have Unresolved Gay Feelings. abed: britta i’ve literally been trying to tell you this for months why do you think i made all those classic queer canon references. britta: OKAY LOOK I HAVEN’T SEEN THOSE MOVIES I’M SOR-
the story of annie edison and annie kim’s Competitive Dating
shirley suspects one of her sons is gay so she has him hang out with troy and abed for that Positive Gay Role Model Experience but so many hijinks ensue and shirly is like (8 oh god they’re hooligans what have i done
some woman arrives on campus & no one can figure out why everyone is being so cagey and awkward but it turns out frankie, jeff, and the dean have all dated her
Britta’s Parents Are Being Too Supportive And She Doesn’t Like It This Must Be A Trap
abed gets mad at the long history of tragedy in gay cinema and decides to make his own gay movie but it turns out he’s really bad at writing happy things & he’s like I’m Part Of The Problem but the real movie was the gay friends we had along the way
made in cooperation with @lil-annie-adderall and @orocatto thank you for your service

so I’m getting kicked out of my housing on May 10th, so I have no choice but to move. Thankfully, i have found an apartment with a super chill roommate (and a kitty 🥺) but since I don’t have a job lined up due to the pandemic, I’m gonna have to live off of my minuscule savings for a while. With rent and bills, I won’t be able to afford moving costs or groceries. I need to raise $450 to pay for the rental van and for groceries for a while. plz plz if you are able to give anything, I would really appreciate it ❤️

It’s genuinely concerning to me that multilevel marketing companies aren’t treated as a mainstream, pressing issue like they should be. I’ve seen so many women (men on rare occasions) scammed by them because nobody teaches them how to identify pyramid schemes. So, I’ve decided to compile a list of common themes I’ve taken note of in my Facebook feed that originate from the girls in MLMs (the ones I’ve seen so far are Plexus, Young Living, Monat, and ItWorks) as well as themes I’ve found in my own research  in case any of you come across it and are asked to buy or join:
1.) You’ll often see long Facebook posts from a person involved that make excessive use of emojis (this point might sound silly but it’s very, very relevant). The Facebook posts originating from this person are almost never sad and never delve into their mental health because they simply aren’t allowed to act that way. The posts need to be cheery because they’re often forced into making a positive representation of the MLM they work for. “How can you be sad when you’re working for a company as amazing as Plexus?”
2.) The posts they make will more often focus on the money to be made working for the company, rather than the products you’ll be selling. MLMs have a habit of preying on people who are struggling financially, most notably college students, single mothers and military wives. I myself have been approached by representatives from Plexus and ItWorks with the promise of making more money. “Do you want financial freedom? Do you want to be able quit your 9-5 job and stay home with your kids?’
3. When you join, you’ll likely have to buy some sort of “starter kit” as a fee for joining (for reference, NO LEGITIMATE BUSINESS will ask you to make any form of payment when signing up to work. If they do, it’s more than likely a scam).
4. You’ll likely have something called an “upline” who benefit from your sales and the sales of people below you. Before pyramid schemes were criminalized, their practices were the same, and the ONLY difference with MLMs is the involvement of a product/products: the only way for a new recruit to turn any sort of profit is by recruiting more people to sell, forming a “downline”. The more people you recruit and the more people your recruits recruit, the more money you make. However, the people at the bottom of the line will always face the same situation of not turning a profit. The only way to escape this, again, is to get people to join below you, and the cycle repeats itself.
5. You may get messages from people involved in MLMs that either undermine or boost your confidence as a selling point for their products, things like, “Hey girl! I’m so happy for you and congratulations on your new baby. Are you looking to lose your baby weight? ItWorks has some amazing products that I think you should try.” (Yes, this was a real message that a friend of mine got). You’ll get stuff from people you used to attend high school with that haven’t spoken to you in years.
6. When someone you know involved in an MLM makes a post about it, check the profiles of people who make positive and encouraging comments. The majority (if not all of them) are also ambassadors for the same MLM. Whereas you would expect ordinary people to find the post uninteresting and ignore it, these people will leave feedback in order to give the impression that the person involved is doing well and finding success.
7. If the MLM is health/nutrition/supplement based, the person will all of a sudden become an anatomy and health expert. They may post some gross pictures and discuss them in detail, or start talking about the science behind losing weight and getting in shape (and sometimes these posts are excruciatingly long) in order to give the products they sell an aura of scientific legitimacy. However, I have yet to see a post that scientifically explains what the products created by these MLMs do to help people. (This point wouldn’t apply to jewelry or clothing MLMs like LulaRoe).
If you guys have any points to add, please let me know what I’m missing. I’m sure there’s a lot. We need to teach young people just leaving high school and entering college what to look out for so they aren’t at risk of being scammed into losing all of their hard earned money.

What level of skill are you looking for in artists? I would love to apply but I am a self taught hobbyist with less technical skill than people that typically apply to zines, so I’m a bit worried about making a fool of myself by applying.
There are no requirements regarding skill level when applying, neither for drawing nor for writing. In the google forms we’ll share in a few hours from now applicants will be required to link an example of their past work, but this is more for logistical reasons than anything else: there isn’t a predetermined number of contributions we’ll accept for this zine, and we’ll only consider a selection if we get too many applications. Even then, fanfiction content will be curated first and art second (because text makes the page count grow a lot quicker than art, so it’s more likely that we’ll get more applications than the written contributions we can include). In any case, we outlined a few of the criteria we’ll use for an eventual selection in our FAQs.
Our goal for this zine is to represent a collective celebration of a story we care about. We’re also aware that the DS9 fandom isn’t very big, so the probability of getting too many applications is comparatively smaller than for other fandom zines. Right now we’re concentrating on the objective of getting enough contribution for our zine — of course we’d be excited to see that our expectations were too low and there’s lot of fans that want to contribute!
In short, don’t worry at all about skill! We’d love for you to apply, and all contributions matter.
