The fact that Callum is the character in the trio most consistently down with murder, given that one its members is an assassin. will never not be funny to me. A snake boi older brother to the most pacifist little brother ever is both hilarious as a contrast, and makes total and utter sense.
Additionally: love that while Rayla has an extra incentive to go for the Novablade (doing so would also mean making progress with freeing her parents in one fell swoop) Rayla sides with Ezran's viewpoint, once again emphasizing their similarities and setting Callum apart in his decisions and inclinations.

Ever since we learned in the Season 4 Discord Q&A that Queen Aanya has an adopted older brother named Grark, I've been wondering, what is his role in the story? Why give Aanya an older brother at all?
As adopted-older-sibling-to-the-monarch, Grark and Aanya's relationship is an obvious parallel to Callum and Ezran's. What if Grark was present and supportive to Aanya, to serve as a contrast to Callum, a similarly protective and devoted older brother, but one who is repeatedly missing in action when his younger sibling needs him:
Shout out to Soren for stepping into Callum's place to support Ezran in both of these examples; but particularly Soren's exhortation to Ezran that "You deserve time to do kid stuff."
I don't think it's a stretch to imagine that Ezran would feel resentful toward Callum for his serial absences (and the implied emotional unavailability), or that he might perceive that his brother is indifferent to his struggles and has abandoned him, leaving Ezran to shoulder the burdens of ruling alone.
I'm having fun imagining Ezran and Aanya trading gripes about their overbearing older brothers who treat them like little kids... and then Ezran sadly, painfully realizing that his brother hasn't been there for him like he should be, while Aanya's brother is.
Broyals angst is delicious, of course, but why let Callum and Ezran have all the fun? Because this is where Aanya and Grark's relationship could get extra interesting:

The two phrases in particular that caught my eye: internal treason and isn't old enough
So, hear me out: Grark will be the protective older sibling who steps up, but eventually oversteps, in a misguided attempt to relieve Aanya of the responsibilty of the throne.
Oh yeah, political intrigue plus broyals angst? It would be SO GOOD.

Broyals and Madrigal Cousins (Mirabel and Antonio) Comparison
A comparison post between the relationships of the Broyals (Callum and Ezran from The Dragon Prince) and Madrigal Cousins (Mirabel and Antonio Madrigal from Disney’s Encanto).
1. All are brunettes.
2. The older child (Callum, Mirabel) is shown to an attentive, protective, loving, and insightful to their younger sibling (Ezran, Antonio).
3. Both of the sibling relationships have been shown to be physically affectionate with one another.
4. The older child is talented in an artistic filed (Callum with drawing, Mirabel with embroidery)
5. The older sibling gest their physical looks from their respective mother (Callum with Sarai, Mirabel with Julieta).

Below Deck
- Set during Finnegrin’s Wake
Rayla struggles against her chains, trying to wriggle into the calming, thin sliver of moonlight shining through the cracks in the deck above. Ezran’s soft breathing and Villads’ occasional snores let her know they’re asleep at least. She’s not sure about Soren, but he hasn’t moved much in a while, so she assumes he’s out too.
Finally alone, she bites her lip as the sense of helplessness threatens to overwhelm her. She doesn’t have time for tears though. She needs to think of a way out of here. An escape. Find a nail or fragment of bone, something to pick the locks biting into her wrists.
She has to find a way to get to Callum, to free him.
The ship is silent now, save for the creaks and groans of the hull as Sea Legs bends and bows to the waves.
Not so silent earlier though… not when she could vividly hear Callum’s cries and groans as Finnegrin did… whatever he was doing to him. Hurt him. Tortured him.
All while she could do nothing. Worse than nothing.
Pretend she couldn’t hear him being beaten once she realised that human ears weren’t keen enough to hear what she could hear.
Ez was worried for Callum, obviously, but thankfully he couldn’t hear what was happening to him.
She tried to pretend it was the worry and frustration that made her so upset, reminded him she hated boats and now being locked up on boats. Insisted she was feeling sick from the churning waves.
Soren had teased her about it and she’d almost bit back at him because she didn’t need that on top of everything else but then she’d seen his eyes and… he knew. Or rather, suspected.
He was obviously aware that Finnegrin wouldn’t have taken Callum away separately just to talk.
Soren might not have been able to hear it, but he clearly had a pretty good idea what Callum was going through.
He isn't just a big dumb lump, that was for sure.
She squeezes her eyes shut and bites her lip, a sob escaping her throat as she tries to push the images of Callum, hurt and alone, from her mind.
She needs to focus, to find a way out. To help him.
“Rayla,�� Soren speaks softly in the darkness. “It’s…” he sighs, shifting a little from the sounds. “We’ll figure something out.”
She pulls her knees into her chest, tears finally running down her cheeks.
No! She needs to be strong. She needs to help Callum. She can’t fall apart. Not now.
“We’ll rescue him, okay?” Soren moves again, his shackles clinking loudly in the darkness. “We’ll save him.”
Rayla wraps her bound hands around her knees and whimpers as quietly as she can.
Soren is right. They’ll save Callum. They have no other choice.
