How each Yuus Grim behaves
Part 1
🪡-Tailor!Yuu
Appearance: Grim has a long cream to gray coat. He looks like a very fancy cat breed. His long fur needs constant care and baths.
Personality: Grim lives the life of a social media icon as a pet influencer. He doesn't consider himself a pet though. Because of this he's very even-tempered and tolerates most things. He often has to model new outfits and accessories for cats and he enjoys the attention. He spends time at Pomefiore getting combed, brushed, and pampered as a famous pet. Cater often tries to get pictures with him which causes Grim to hiss at him and send a fireball his way.
How they met: Grim had always seen himself as a born star. So he tried to do so through magic which is why he stalked the halls of NRC. He narrowly avoided becoming Trein's new pet. He was drown to a beautiful ribbon that spilled out of a coffin and chose it the uniform he wanted. After the catastrophe went down Yuu took him in as a model and they started a social media together modeling outfits and making videos.
🩺-Vet!Yuu
Appearance: Grim takes on the appearance of a Savannah cat. His body size is larger with longer legs. He has a habit of hissing when he speaks.
Personality: Grim is more feral with a desire to be the strongest. Grim constantly picks fights and causes arguments. He will only eat raw meat and fish. Grim doesn't like humans at all with Yuu as the single exception. He often swipes at Ace and Deuce as they walk by.
How they met: He heard of Savanaclaw and knew he needed to join the school. Instead of interrupting the entrance ceremony, he ended up being tranquilized and put in a cage. Yuu eventually found him after the event after Crowley put them in charge of the beasts on campus. They come to an agreement that Grim will be free if he becomes their familiar.
🔫-Special Forces!Yuu
Appearance: Grey Norwegian forest cat. One of the biggest cats in the world. He's a big fluffy boy. Built for cold weather.
Personality: This Grim is quiet and intimidating. Well as intimidating as he can be. He wants to learn magic because he wants a challenge. He enjoys games and playing at the board games club. He is pretty calm and even lazy if he isn't challenged enough. Yuu often brings him new things to do like hunting tasks and spying. Grim enjoys snow and will bury himself the moment it gets high enough.
How they met: Yuu can be pretty weird. They sort of snatched Grim up like a stray cat and took him home. Grim was just too fluffy to resist. Grim took it well and revealed he was a walking monster after a few days of brushing and food.
🌊- Marine Biologist!Yuu
Appearance: Grim looks like a Turkish Van. His coat is waterproof, making him a natural swimmer. He is easy to spot with his mostly white coat.
Personality: Grim is often wandering around aimlessly. He will dive into fishing spots to catch fresh fish. Because of Yuu he spends alot of time at the lounge. He has no fear of the twins or Azul for that matter. Often naps at random spots around the Cafe. The customers have started feeding him snacks if he lets them pet him. It is very lucrative for Azul. Grim has taken up surfing with Yuu.
How they met: Grim washed up on shore and was saved by Yuu. They have been inseparable ever since. Grim is incredibly laid back so he keeps Yuu calm when the situation gets tough.
🪶-Harpy!Yuu
Appearance: Grim is a Bengal cat. With a lean and thin body.
Personality: Grim is affectionate and curious. He spends a lot of time at Scarabia. He enjoys hunting pests for fun and exploring everything around him. He also has a habit of stealing things. He loves stealing treasures. He is always running from Jamil.
How they met: Grim was stealing from NRC when he got caught by Yuu. Grim bargained for his lives by giving Yuu the treasure he stole. Afterwards, he decided to take advantage of Yuu and stuck to them for more treasure.
🌷-Gardener!Yuu
Appearance: Scottish Fold with a round head and curled ears.
Personality: Having to deal with their no-nonsense human is no easy task. He helps take care of the garden but he will steal fruits and veggies all the time. When Yuu got mini cows he started working as a barn cat to keep him out of the garden. He's not happy about it. He likes the pies Yuu makes though.
How they met: Grim was drawn to Yuu whether he liked it or not. He was mostly drawn to the silvervine in their pockets. Yuu offered it to him and he decided he liked them. It might have been just the catnip.
🍴-Chef!Yuu
Appearance: Burmese. Big ol' ears. On the chunky side but it's not too bad yet.
Personality: very cheerful and lazy. He enjoys helping Yuu cook but he tends to make a mess. He constantly pulls on Yuu to get more snacks. Grim loves that he gets to laze around and gets belly rubs. He however hates having Ruggie around and taking his place.
How they met: Yuu found him starving outside the school gates and took him in. Ever since Grim has been spoiled rotten.
♨️-Onsen!Yuu
Appearance: Japanese bobtail, low shed, and short hair. Smells like flowers.
Personality: He's nice but he's no lap cat. Grim stands guard at the door of the onsen. He is the mascot of the spa. He gets the best fish and massages daily. He gets protective of the workers and Yuu and will attack anyone who gets out of line.
How they met: Grim saved Yuu when she was getting harassed and as Yuu's hero, he was given a place by her side.
🌙Celestial!Yuu
Appearance: Has pelt formed from stardust. Feels like fur. Feels warmer than the average cat.
Personality: Grim is a silent companion who has helped Yuu raise 3 children. Grim slept next to Silver every night for years and has served as a somewhat unlucky nanny cat for Malleus as well. He's done a good job fetching toys, turning out lights, and being used as a stuffed animal replacement. Not to mention a crocodile's chew toy. He is relieved that the boys are grown up. But the boys still look for him. He hides from them.
How they met: Yuu made Grim hundreds of years ago and he has served as a loving companion and aid. He was firmly against their marriage to Lilia.
🎮-Otaku!Yuu
Appearance: Selkirk Rex. he's not matted thats just his fur. He is just curly.
Personality: Grim was just looking for a way into the school and convinced Yuu to help him. He just didn't know that Yuu would immediately drag him to the headmaster and demand to keep him. Now he has to tolerate being used for cat memes and being petted by Idia. But if they put one more pineapple on his head they are dead. It's not too bad he gets to Playtest every game Yuu makes and eat snacks with them.
How they met: He was so raggedy. Yuu just wanted to see where this goes.

what are some visually interesting and unique breeds of cats that don't have severe health issues associated with them? something that can't be mistaken for a regular old tabby but can actually breathe, walk, jump, poop, etc. like a normal cat
I mean it depends on what you consider visually interesting and unique and if the qualifications are you base criteria or if you mean are generally in good health without other potential ethical qualms.
I already went over how a Maine Coon looks like a Maine Coon and not a Domestic Shorthair. Most breeds have unique, interesting looks that can’t easily be mistaken for a moggy if you have any idea what you’re looking at.

Bengal is an obvious answer.

Cornish Rex is another.
I think most of the rex-type and similar breeds are of pretty sound health, assuming you go through a good breeder and avoid extreme types. So Devon Rex, German Rex, Selkirk Rex, LaPerm, etc.
I know homozygous Selkirk’s molt but I think it’s only once as they come into their adult coats and I know LaPerm’s molt but I don’t know how uncomfortable this is for the cat.

The Abyssinian and Somali are another one, especially the Ruddy/Usual variety. You’re not going to find that look anywhere else.

How different cultures in ASOIAF view cats pt. 1
In our world, culture and religion shape how we view animals, and for this post, specifically cats. An example of how cats a view differently in cultures can be seen in Islamic cultures and Romani Cultures. Because cats clean themselves often, they are viewed as clean by Muslims and can be kept with the family. But for Romani, because of the Marime which states that the genital region is a source of impurity, a cat licking its own lower regions this becomes unclean. Roma still keep pets but they generally don’t let them sleep in their bed or lick them. This is all contrasted by American culture where a pet is viewed as a member of the family and will be referred to as the baby or child of their owners and is allowed to sleep in bed with them.
It’s so interesting and I want to expand this to how Westerosi people see cats and what types of cats they keep.
Dorne
Dorne takes a lot of inspiration from the Arabic would and I think it only makes sense for them to have a similar view of cats.
Cats keeping themselves clean makes them the perfect pets for humans. Cats are also known to pray to the seven if given a seat in a sept (cats love prayer rugs and it’s really cute). Both religious and hygienic, cats are viewed as more sophisticated than other animals and thus are kept closer by their families.
The salty Dornish are best known for their love of cats with many ancient breeds residing in their homes. The green orphans will sail with a cat or two and give them a fish from the days haul. Cats are also seen as omens of good fortune and many shops have a resident cat. Septa also keep cats control pests and because they will sleep at the feet of the seven when their statue is warm. The Turkish Van and Turkish Angora are both old and rare breeds of cats that would flourish in Dorne.
The Sandy Dornish also enjoy cats. Because cats naturally retain more water than dogs, they are fitted to live in the desert. These cats are some of the more wild ones as it’s common for the domestic cat to mix is wild cats. During harsh sandstorms, the Dornish will wrap the cats up in a blanket to protect them from the elements. Cats are known to love this and scene request it when their is no sand storm. The Savannah cat is a cross between wild Serval and a domestic short hair cat.
The stony Dornish are less attached to cats than the Sandy or salty Dornish. Every house hold does have a cat and it’s common for cats to sleep in the room of their favorite person, but the stony Dornish believe that cats have some impurity to them because they lick their own genitals. Families will often perform a cleaning ritual on their cats by wiping them down with a wet cloth to cleanse them of impurity. Cats in stony Dorne are slender and very angular, making them great at slipping through stony hills and along steep walls. The Cornish Rex and Devon Rex are popular cat breeds.
The Iron Islands
Cats were a big part of Scandinavian culture. The goddess Freya had her chariot pulled by Norwegian Forest cats (also called fairy cats) and it was custom for a groom to give his bride a kitten as a wedding gift. For Vikings specifically, cats were kept to control the pests on ship.
Because the Iron Islands is more based on mythical Viking culture than historical Scandinavian culture, we can have some fun with the cats.
Ships are a big part of the iron islands culture, so each ship should have a cat or two. Perhaps to “bless” a ship before it sets off, a kitten is brought into the ship and makes it their own. I also see the Ironman have a very communal ownership of the cats. Fisherman will give the cats some of their catch as part of a good luck ceremony and people will set up small cat houses for them. They could also view a cat staying with you as a sign of good luck. But because of Thai communal ownership, it would probably be taboo to try and keep a cat to yourself. The iron islanders see a cat as not belonging to a person but to a ship or island.
Types of cats I think the iron islanders would have. Because they’re kind of weird, I think some weird breeds would fit. The Selkirk Rex is known for playing in water, being loyal to their human, and also have some curly fur!
The Andal Kingdoms
The Andals had a similar relationship to cats that Europeans had before the Black Death. For the Andals, cats were viewed as mainly pest control for their farms and cities. People rarely tries to socialize kittens when born which led to people believing cats were naturally aggressive.
It wasn’t until Maesters discovered that cats help prevent the spread of disease by killing rats that cats became a more popular household animal.
The reach was the first kingdom to become very found of the cat. They were perfect help for their farms and perfect pest control for old town. Old Town holds a celebration of cats each year to thank them for preventing extreme disease outbreaks from happening in the city. The Redwyne family is famous for breeding Persians cats that resemble the pugs they breed with short faces. Rich families have a few Persian cats that they dress up as little lords and ladies as an extra show of wealth.
In the storm lands and riverlands, cats are seen as antithetical to the land. The kingdom’s natural wetness drives cats away. Fisherman are often at odds with local cat populations as they fight over fish. Despite the general population’s disinterest in cats, they are a common staple at inns and bars as they keep rats away from the straw and wheat. Patrons consider seeing a cat with folded ears as a lucky charm that their stay at the inn will be a pleasant one.

Satan - Norwegian Forest Cat - I was thinking about the Maine Coon, but he can't be the largest species. Sorry, little bean. This one has beautiful long fur and loves dogs (you'll understand in a moment). They are very attached to their loved ones, but it is not always visible in them. Intelligent and self-confident. Due to their strong instincts, they love to hunt (constant fight in Gehenna, that's right).
Mammon - Newfoundland - Hear me out. I know it's a dog, you know it's a dog, but it's the kind of dog that grew up with cats and considers itself one of them. He is huge, calm and friendly towards all animals. They're only furry little friends for them (I bet even as humans, Mammon thinks that about Satan).
Beelzebub - …as much as I love him, giving him a breed other than an ordinary tabby have no sense. Beel is that stray from the neighborhood who comes to your place to eat and cuddle, and then disappears for God knows how long. And no one even knows what to do with him, but let's be honest, we all love these kinds of kitties.
Leviathan - Turkish Angora - Noble pedigree and beautiful white fur. Calm and royal in demeanor. And above all, he has a determined character, but he can be capricious and when he becomes sensitive, there is no mercy.
Lucyfer - Ragdoll - At first I was thinking about more noble breeds, but Ragdolls are extremely calm and family-oriented, and based on what we currently know about Luci, it fits perfectly. Moreover, their fur is white with black spots on the nose (it would fit better on the chest, but overall is good).

hi guys ummm, i may or may not have been thinking more about that riptide cat au
first off, gillion has been added to the lineup! i think he came from a warrior cat-style society. a feral colony, that lives on a little island just off-shore. y'know? but got banished for reasons similar to in canon riptide.
and for those who haven't seen the post with just chip and jay, chip was a ship cat, but became more of a stray under cat price. jay comes from a very fancy family of show cats who have taken it upon themselves to dictate the lives of all the strays and feral cats in the area, but she ran away from it all to hang out with chip.
gillion would have washed ashore at some point, and promptly joined their little band of misfits.
their story loosely follows that of riptide but the severity of events has been toned down a ton. after all, this is a trio of cats going on adventures in and around a little seaside fishing town, not a crew of pirates travelling the world. big events like not ferin well can still occur, they'd just have to be altered significantly.
above you'll find a rough little map i did in inkarnate, (i'm picturing the pacific northwest coast, vaguely,) and a general size ref for the three. more on them later
i think that some riptide characters are included and some are omitted. much of their crew exists as characters around the area, but a lot of people they run into are either barely involved or not there at all, as it conflicts with the setting.
so i'm thinking ollie might be another cat, whereas a character like gryffon might be a dog. queen could be a magpie. see where i'm going with this? idk. i sure don't
others could be various wild animals. for example aslana and her sisters could be a band of otters or seals.
below are the size ref images separated. just so you know the shape of em. gill is very fluffy and it's important everyone knows that. oh and for those interested, in terms of breeds jay is based on a somali, gillion a norwegian forest cat and maine coon, and chip isn't really based on anything in particular.

the sbg crew as cats
Ashlyn is a red Siamese because Siamese are (apparently) the most aggressive cat breed, but can be often shy around strangers
Aiden is a bengal-Bombay mix. Bengals are energetic, and the Bombay is a hint to his natural hair colour
Ben is a chocolate rag doll. They’re calm and quiet, and also big and fluffy (a nod to his sturdy build)
Tyler is an Abyssinian. Abyssinians are protective, like Tyler is of his family.
Along with being protective, Abyssinians are also cuddly and friendly, making it perfect for Taylor
Lastly, Logan is a Norwegian forest cat, seeing as they’re pretty intelligent, and a bit shy around new people, however, they warm up quickly.

I FIGURED IT OUT. i think i figured it out.
people treat cat breeds like dog breeds, which is why they're often inclined to think that their random-bred cat they adopted might be part maine-coon or part norwegian forest cat or part whatever other breed. but cat breeds are WAY different than dog breeds. they're not Anywhere near as prevalent and if your cat isn't guaranteed pedigree then it's Extremely unlikely it's any kind of official breed. vs dog breeds where there's distinct breeds and mixes Everywhere
Oh yeah that's very much the case!
The oldest cat breeds don't go back NEARLY as far as the oldest dog breeds.
