Hello, i'm soooo sorry to bother you, but i was looking for a spirk fic and i stumbled on your blog by chance. I know this may be too much but do u happen to have ' We Will Meet Again by Darksknight'? i saw that you bookbined a copy of it (which looked amazing omgggg, LOVE IT). I had a pdf copy acouple of years ago but i think i deleted it, and now that i remembered to look for it i couldn't find it anywhere. Please do you have it? And would it be alright to share it with me? PLEAAASE AND THANK YOU 🙏

I absolutely do! I have all the fics I really enjoyed reading and have a few thousand PDFs on a Google drive. For any other followers that are looking for copies of things in a fandom you know I read in I can easily search to see if I have that fic saved and then share the file.

I kinda want to at least attempt to start a bit of a positive chain. Id like to shoutout two artists in the cham server who I think are awesome, It would be epic if other people on here could follow along and recommend some other artists who deserve some love too!!

Im kicking it off with an artist in the server by the name of “Bookbin”!! Their art is just adorable~ I love how nice and chonky their line art is for their recent gift art pieces!

And speaking of chonks, another artist I’d like to show some appreciation to is none other than “Usnavi”!! I love seeing other people’s chams as lil chonksters in their ych, it fills me with so much joy! Their regular art is definitely a blessing to see as well!

I hope this little cham artist appreciation post starts a mini trend for people who read this blog to shout out some of their favorite artists in the server as well. Making sweet posts about fellow members would be an amazing change of pace for this blog!

Frog Skin Batch 2: Skins No. 1 to 5

With the experience from the first batch of frog skins, it was much easier for me to understand how to stretch the skins. But the preparation of the tanning is still very much of an experiment. 

For Batch 2, Skin No. 1 and 2 are made as parchments. The skins were soaked in soapy water for a few days, and then washed out and stretched on a piece of grey board, lined with a sheet of baking paper. They were cut along the belly and the entire back is complete. 

Skin No. 3 was soaked in Pu-er tea (red Chinese tea) and red food colouring for 5 days. The skin was cut along the back and the white part, which strangely, does not really take the colour much in the middle. However, the flesh side is a brilliant red and looks like beet. 

Skin No. 4 was soaked in Thai Green Tea blend, also for 5 days. I am very amused by the randomness of the green colouration even though I turned the skin every day. 

Skin No. 5 was treated with glycerin and alcohol, with a blue leather dye. This skin was not stretched. It was handled, stretched and pulled by hand while it was drying. This skin dried and became really soft. There is an issue with skins that are treated this way. They tend to grow mould really easily as compared to the rest of the skins. Both glycerin/alcohol treated skins from Batch 1 and 2 behaved the same way. This is something I need to research more about.

I am so pumped. I am so beyond fucking pumped. This book was actually being written in Wattpad.... had to be five or six years ago, and I was one of the first people to start reading it. I actually had several discussions with the author in comments where we talked about story ideas and characters and all that jazz. Then one day, he announced he won't be publishing any more pages, because an actual publishing company contacted him to pick up the book. I thought, and I imagine many other readers did too, that he had just grown tired of the story(somehow, it was fucking amazing), and was using that as an excuse to stop writing without upsetting anyone. Then today my friends drag me into bookbin while we had some time before the Escape Room, and what did I fucking see but the title of a Wattpad novel I had read so many years before. Needless to say, and you can verify this with them, I couldn't fucking breath. I was literally hyperventilating I was so excited. I could not go to the counter to get it myself, my friend Misael had to go ask to find the first one for me because I couldn't move. I. Am. So. Happy.

I first discovered Kate Morton when I picked up her The Lake House from a bookbin at a Costco in the U.K. Somehow the tale of a famous author of mysteries haunted by the disappearance of her youngest brother when she was a teenager, her family’s complicated history and her guilt was just the sort of plot-ty, twisty tale best enjoyed when one was traipsing about the English countryside. I enjoyed the book so much that I’ve been buying Morton’s books one after the other ever since last year.

The Forgotten Garden is my second of her books. It is what I’d call modern gothic, because it has all the hallmarks of a gothic novel – old, crumbling mansion, ancient family secrets, lost or orphaned children, lovely and tragic heroines, old manuscripts… lost treasure, even! There’s even an evil henchman and a greedy landlady! I love it because of all these things. The fact that part of the tale is set in modern times (well, 1975 and 2005) but goes back to early 20th century just adds to the fascination. Read this if you’re into mysteries, delving into family secrets, while imagining yourself smack in the middle of the green English countryside where much of the plot is set.
