Writing I did for my boatem vampires au!
I love seeing all your thoughts, theories, questions, and comments on this au! Feel free to shoot me an ask whenever! Don't be shy, I love talking to you all!
There was an intruder in their territory.
The thought of a trespasser in his forest made Impulse seethe with rage. Especially when Gem had mentioned the traces of magic she'd sensed from the place the stranger had crossed into his territory from hers. Any and all supernatural beings should've been well aware of the territory markings, meaning whoever was in the forest was either desperate or a threat.
Scar was right beside Impulse as they ran through the forest, Mumbo and Grian not far behind. The moon, partially covered by clouds, shone down through the trees as the vampires ran, providing them unneeded but welcome light. Combing the area near where Gem had reported the intruder, it wasn't long before the scent of magic and blood caught Impulse's attention and drew the group of vampires to a tree that most certainly hadn't been there a few days prior.
The vampires fanned out into a semi circle around the tree, an air of somberness having descended on them. “That's a nature spirit's tree, isn't it?” Mumbo pointed out, reaching out and lightly placing his hand against the bark. “I wonder what happened.”
Impulse frowned, approaching the tree as Grian decided to climb up into the branches. “They– Grian, that's disrespectful, get down– they must have taken pretty bad damage if they decided to shift. I doubt they were a threat, then, but why…?”
“Why indeed.” Grian finally spoke up as he began to descend from the tree carefully. “Could it have had anything to do with this?” His feet hit the ground, and he held out the small bundle in his arms.
Scar peered over, audibly gasping and stumbling back. “Oh, baby!” he exclaimed, eyes like saucers.
Impulse and Mumbo gave him confused glances, before looking at what Grian was holding. And it was just like Scar had said– oh, baby. Impulse froze, brown eyes locked with large silver ones. For a moment, he remembered hazel eyes and tiny hands and a cheerful voice calling his name. He shook the images away before the memories could be tainted by the sound of their screams, focusing on the present. “That… is a baby,” he agreed. “A very tiny, very human baby. Why was a dying nature spirit carrying a human baby?”
“Kidnapping?” Mumbo suggested, looking between the others, “no, that's a fae thing, isn't it?”
“People other than the fae can kidnap kids,” Scar pointed out, giving Grian a concerned look. “Are you supposed to hold babies like that?”
Impulse shook his head, automatically reaching for the infant. “Give her to me.” He took the baby into his arms and cradled her, making sure to support her head. Instinctively, he began to rock side to side on his feet.
“I'm surprised she isn't screaming,” Grian piped up, “aren't babies supposed to scream?”
“Let's hope she doesn't,” Impulse muttered, continuing to rock her.
There was silence for a moment.
“We're adopting her!” Scar exclaimed at the same time Grian went “Impulse, don't tell me you want to keep her.” The two shared looks before starting to laugh.
“But seriously,” Grian continued through soft laughter, “are we taking her in? I know that look,” he added before Impulse could interrupt, “and honestly, I'm all for it if the rest of us are. But how…?”
“We just tell her we found her one day?” Mumbo suggested, “and decided to adopt her?”
“I'm worried about the fact she's human,” Scar pointed out, “do we raise her like a vampire? Obviously we can't just feed her blood.”
Impulse shrugged. “We'll have to get used to human food, then. It's not like we can't eat it– we'll just have to have a supply of blood somewhere she can't get into.”
“Guys,” Mumbo interjected, but was ignored.
“We have the extra room– but she should stay with us, shouldn't she? Babies should stay with their parents in tiny cribs?” Scar asked, Impulse nodding.
“Do we feed her formula? Or do we have to, y'know… I don't think any of us could breastfeed– no, Scar, put your clothes back on!” Grian smacked Scar's hand before continuing. “Babies drink milk, right? We could steal a cow from Tim!” he suggested.
“Guys–” Mumbo tried again, but was interrupted.
“We are not stealing a cow from the ranchers,” Impulse shot Grian down. “We'll just have to buy baby formula, I suppose– or ask Gem? She takes care of baby animals. Maybe we could figure something out with her?”
“Gentlemen, please!” Mumbo yelled, finally getting everyone's attention. “This is all well and good, but there's something really big we're missing.” He looked around at the others. “What's her name?”
“Can't we just call her Baby?” Scar asked, “I think that's a lovely name.”
Impulse chuckled. “Actually, I had something in mind. How about… Pearl?”
The other vampires shared a look, before various affirmations were given.
Scar grinned. “I like the name Pearl. I could give her so many nicknames! Pearlie. Pearlo. Pearlie pop. Pearlie whirly–”
Grian smacked him over the back of his head. “Stop it, Scar! You're going to confuse the poor girl, and she doesn't even know how to speak yet!”
Mumbo giggled. “Pearl, then. And you all are sure we can handle raising a whole child? She's a whole human being, you know.”
Impulse hesitated, looking up. “...yeah. Yeah, I think we'll be able to handle it. If we need help, we'll have Gem and the ranchers. They're pretty good with kids, right?”
Grian made a face. “Tim's okay, but I'm pretty sure Tango would start focusing super hard on his projects and forget about a baby. Gem, I'm not sure. On our end, well– we have the financial ability and space to support her. We're pretty mature– don't look at me like that, Impulse– so, yeah. I think we could raise a child.”
“We'd raise her better than the wilds would,” Scar pointed out. “She'd die out here. Or worse.”
Impulse pressed his mouth into a thin line. “...yeah, no. Not in my territory. We're taking her in,” he decided, glancing down to see inquisitive silver eyes staring up at him. “Hi, Pearl,” he cooed, smiling softly.
Mumbo glanced toward the sky. “We should probably get her home. The moon's starting to set, and I don't think we should be running at full speed with a human baby.”
“Good idea,” Impulse agreed, “we'll walk back, then.”
“I still think we should steal a cow,” Grian said during the walk back, “I think it would be fun.”
Impulse snorted, rolling his eyes. “Yeah. If you wanna get burnt to a crisp while trying to steal from a fire spirit, be my guest, Grizzly bear.”
Grian blinked. “I'm sorry, what did you just call me?”
Mumbo chuckled lightly. “I can kinda see it. His hair's a fluffy mess, just like grizzly bear fur. Good one, Impulse!”
Grian turned on Mumbo, eyes wide and indignant. “I do not look like a grizzly bear!”
Pearl, still cradled in Impulse's arms, let out a soft babble followed by a giggle. Impulse grinned down at her, gently tickling under her chin. “I think that means she agrees, Grian.”
Grian groaned, shaking his head. “Well, I can't argue with a baby!”
Scar beamed. “Indeed you can't. Too bad, G-man!”
Finally they arrived back home, and were quick to pull together a sleeping area for Pearl. They'd all sleep in the same room tonight, Impulse decided, and the others were fine with that.
“As long as Scar keeps his clothes on–!” Grian had squawked, earning laughter from the rest of the group.
Scar placed a hand over his heart, casting a solemn gaze over the group. “I, Scar, promise to keep my clothes on during the sleepover.”
“He didn't,” Grian would later explain to Pearl, “we woke up and his shirt was halfway across the room.”
“It was not!” Scar would argue as Pearl giggled, his hands gently braiding her hair. “He's lying, Pearl! Lies and slander, I tell you!”
The next day, Impulse took care of Pearl while the others ran to the nearest town and grabbed whatever items they needed to properly care for the baby. Things wouldn't be perfect, but they would try.
“And that's why Griba told me babies grow on trees?”
“Yeahhh. Not sure what he was trying to accomplish with that one. Maybe he just panicked or something.”
“...thank you for telling me the story, Impy. Or should I call you Dad?”
“Ha. Whatever you want, moonshine.”
Thanks to @evenmoreevil for that breastfeeding line. Btw. It's his fault.

Call Me! (Call Me Anytime) - Boatem Band Au
(Title from the song Call Me by Blondie) Grian wasn't one for teams, he didn't enjoy sports, he hated theater, thought playing an instrument was boring, and couldn't catch anything to save his life, so, he didn't join any. But when he finds out that he can't graduate with his class unless he takes an extracurricular Grian scrambles to find something to do. After getting hit in the face with a basketball 4 times he puts the idea of sports to rest. One day Grian's twin sister Pearl cashes in an I-O-U from when they were kids, leading Grian to be forced to sing for her band Boatem, in place of their old lead singer. Grian realizes pretty quickly that maybe being in a team isn't as bad as he originally thought.
Yes, the name is based off "Call Me" by Blondie leave me be....

SKYBLING HATER POST /mean
okay so that last repost I did had the exact opposite intended affect on me and now I want to write about how much I hate Pearl and Grian and skyblings in general and sure I don’t watch a lot of their content nowadays and I never watched Pearl’s side of Evo but guess what? no-one is reading this anyways so here we go:
So first off, do- do Pearl and Grian, like, interact that much on camera? Obviously they’re friends cause Grian invited her to the Life series and  Evo and stuff but when they’re recording they tend to do their own thing in different directions. This might just be because Pearl is upside down all the way in Australia time differences but even when playing on the life series neither of them seem to really spend vast amounts of time with the other. Just a quick cool quick little interaction or teaming up because convenience or they respect the others skill. Or maybe I just don’t watch either’s perspective enough, who knows, just haven’t seen them spend quality time with each other a lot on there.
As for Hermitcraft, Boatem was a really good group but, uh, guys? Friends? Fellas? there were 5 members of Boatem, not 2. Why are we not going around headcannoning Mumbo and Impulse as brothers if living together makes Pearl and Grian siblings? I don’t remember them interacting all that much in season 9 either, but both did choose to live relatively close to at least one other Boatem member, Impulse and Pearl sibling au when?
So maybe it’s beacause of Evo then. Maybe it’s that little ol’ Minecraft series that Grian left half a decade ago, cool. Pearl had a sad little montage, good for her. I’ve also heard someone say they were canonically siblings in that series but I’m not bothering to do actual work for this rant so… fun. Point is, all that was a long while ago. Sure their content has gone in wildly different directions since then with being Hermits and Emperors and little copper golems but basing their current relations off of Evo is still relevant, right? And to that I have to say, ABSOLUTELY. I’m a sucker for Evo’s ending and people who love each other finally managing to claw their way back into the other’s arms or literally any other story revolving around the end of Evo ever. I will hold onto my half a decade old Grian and Pearl headcannons till the end of time you hear me???? Authors out there including Evo angst in your work I love you so much, you make me cry. Characters separated by the gods themselves are best characters, and if the only way I’m going to get that content is if they’re blood related then I will swallow my pride and enjoy it to no end! Write more Evo affecting the present stuff and I will uh- give you this random dust bunny in my pocket. Fair trade.
But- ahem- yes, back to complaining. Jimmy and Pearl. Guys. GUYS, I write Pearl and Jimmy interactions all the time, I’m the Pearl and Jimmy guy! And even I don’t think they interact that much??? As for the present, They have good moments together yeah because they’re both hilarious but they have their own little groups they tend to stay within. Pearls being a girlboss with her best buds and Jimmy’s being bullied by his. Have they even ever teamed in a life series? Did they ever really talk on Empires that much? Jimmy invited her to help with his Christmas village building which was a really nice surprise and they hung out on Evo, but, anything the fandom is both glued to and recent?
Honestly, my biggest issue is just that is seems like the age old trope of tying a female to a more popular male character and I hate it. Obviously in the world of male dominated mcyt this is kinda hard to avoid but… this headcannon with most popular kid in school Grian specifically when I don’t even see them interacting that much? I understand Grian and Jimmy because they actually have a lot of close, consistent interactions but every time I see Pearl in the mix I just have to pause and question it. There was a really good post a while ago about how people tend to assign her as oldest because reason that is probably ‘well, girls are more mature’, and yeah, why are we doing that? Why are we all just putting her into a trio she’s rarely seen with nowadays anyways? She’s a public menace, not a menace to these two in particular.
With Grian especially it seems to me like it could be a case of sure, woman in her own is cool but what if it was woman and DUDE EVERYONE ALSO LIKES SO MUCH?!???? HOW AMAZINGLY AMAZING. They’ll fit together like two puzzle pieces from different boxes with the same color scheme! So fun right? To me it seems as though this dynamic was not based around these three close friends who were like siblings, but instead, Grian plus his loving family. One member of which is going to wander off to find Gem and Impulse anyways.
So yeah, I say free them all, but especially Pearl, from this dynamic. Share her chaos! Give her a mace! Set her lose onto the world!
Or, don’t, lol. Ultimately the point of a fandom is for everyone to have fun, and if shoving these little guys together is what makes you happiest then go for it! I just like complaining and I see a hint of underlying sexism in the headcannon being so widely accepted on what seems to me as such little basis, but who’s a random internet user to stop you from doing what you love.
Just because I have a personal problem with something that isn’t really hurting anybody doesn’t mean you should stop, like I said, I love writing stories about Jimmy and Pearl clinging onto each other after Evo regardless of my belief that they don’t really do that at all in their content today. So yeah, write your stories, make your art, and remember to have fun with (any very non-problematic 👍) things regardless of what anybody else says! Best wishes to you MCYTumblr! Everyone’s art and writing and we weaves and whatever over these little guys we’ve all decided to cling to is absolutely beautiful to witness!

oKay so.. hermitcraft x reader highschool au, where reader has a harem but like- reader is an antisocial aromantic geek who just wants to be left alone and read comics but everywhere they go someone who has a crush on them finds them (you can pick wich hermits are in the harem)
Hello anon! With my break from Tumblr, I have found motivation! And so I give to you: the Hermitcraft High School AU!
A First Day’s Nightmare
c!Hermits (various) x Aro!Reader (one-sided)
Summary: You are the new kid at HC High School, and everyone wants to get to know you. Unfortunately, you are antisocial and aromantic, and extremely not interested. If only all these extroverts could get this through their heads.
Notes: This could have turned out a lot creepier, but I was motivated to write and not feeling depressed so you get mild annoyance instead of full-on yandere. Boatem is poly, so are Ren and Doc (if they can get you), based on the American school system, these sound like AO3 tags, I think that’s it? Let me know if I need any warnings.
Tumblr media
Being new to the school was a blessing in disguise. Everyone already had their friend groups, and so they wouldn’t bother you.
At least, that’s what you’d thought (hoped) would happen.
In true high school movie fashion, your first period teacher had you stand up in front of the class and introduce yourself. Rather than the lack of attention you craved, everyone’s eyes were on you. And there were some… rather interesting eyes.
A few of your classmates stared with wide eyes, while others watched with more narrowed gazes. One boy even had a robotic eye, which was something you hadn’t seen before. It kind of reminded you of one of your comics- wait, he was staring right at you. You shivered, glancing down at your feet to avoid the grins and whispers.
(Not) soon enough, you were sent back to your seat. Practically rushing, you returned to your spot before the teacher could even consider calling you back. The girl next to you sent a sympathetic glance, leaning over slightly to whisper.
“There’s quite a lot of us, aren’t there?” You nodded in response, fixing your eyes to the front of the room, where the instructor was spelling out the morning’s lessons. “I’m Gem, by the way. Nice to meet you!” After a moment where you did not respond, Gem sighed slightly.
You felt a twinge of regret; she sounded a bit dejected. But you weren’t here to make friends. In fact, the sooner your classmates decide to leave you alone, the better.
The rest of the class passed without issue, if “without issue” included the continued stares of your classmates. You caught more than a few of them continuing to gawk at you. At the end of the period, you packed up quickly and left without a word.
The rest of the morning was much the same. There were always eyes watching you, curious about the new person in school. As you looked up for one reason or another, you sometimes caught the glances. You shared classes with many of the people from your first period, and somehow it always seemed to be one or more of them watching you.
In your second period, science, you were made to join a lab group. Immediately, a boy with sunglasses and dog’s ears stood up and volunteered to have you join his group. His partner nodded in agreement. It was the boy with a prosthetic eye and, now you looked closer, a matching arm. Ren and Doc. Ren was enthusiastic, happily showing you around the lab while Doc began the setup procedures. Even though he chose to remain mostly silent, Doc still watched your interactions with Ren, seeming ready to step in at a moment’s notice.
During third period, math worksheets were handed out and you were instructed to pair up with someone. Glancing around, you found someone who looked quiet, like you. Maybe the two of you could work independently if you grouped together. Moving over to his table, you introduced yourself to a boy in a helmet. You could barely see his eyes. Xisuma, he said his name was. He was perfectly willing to give you the space you so desired, but you still caught him looking at you with more than just a casual glance.
You thought you were safe when the fourth period began. There’s no way you’d be put into a group during history, right? Of course, you’d thought that about math, too. And in line with the theme “never give Y/N alone time,” history was not a lecture, but group discussions. You were assigned to a group of five. Before joining them, the girl seated next to you- Gem, right?- whispered, “I don’t know whether to warn you or apologize. You seem like you like the quiet.”
With that dire warning, you progressed across the room to where some ecstatically grinning classmates sat. “Hello there! Welcome to Boatem!”
You were all but ready to claim sickness and skip class altogether by the time the bell rang. At least now you would have some time alone.
Taking your lunch, you made your way to the school’s library. Giving a small greeting to the librarian, you weaved between the shelves to a small table. Pulling out your book, you began to eat while reading, flipping the pages every so often. So engrossed in the story were you that you didn’t notice someone coming up next to you until an enthusiastic voice said, “What’cha reading?”
Letting out a squeak, you nearly jumped. Looking up, Ren leaned on the table, head tilted to one side as he tried to read your comic upside-down. Behind him, Doc lingered at the edge of a bookshelf.
“Oh, sorry. Is this your table or something?” Quickly, you grabbed the book and your backpack, starting to move away.
Ren laughed. “No, no, not at all!” You remained wary. “See… the Goatfather and I just wanted to ask you something.” He glanced back at Doc, who nodded, letting a smile cross his face. It was surprisingly soft, from what you’d expected of a creeper hybrid with a mechanical eye.
You hummed. “So, Doc here and I were wondering if you might want to go out sometime. We think you’re totally groovy, dude!” You blinked at him.
“Um.” The words almost didn’t compute. “Sorry, I’m aromantic.”
Ren grinned. “Well, I consider myself quite a romantic as well!”
Doc sighed. In disappointment at your rejection or Ren’s behaviour, you couldn’t quite tell.
A quieter voice came from behind you. “They said aromantic, Ren. Not a romantic.” Xisuma emphasised the pause between the latter term as he stepped away from the wall towards you. How long had he been there? Did he look disappointed?
Ren seemed confused. “Aromantic?” Doc stepped forward, speaking softly to the boy who was, presumably from Ren’s earlier statement, his partner.
As Xisuma was distracted by his classmates, and Ren was engrossed in Doc's explanation, you took the chance to duck out. After leaving the library, you took a sigh of relief. Turning down the hallway to where your next class was, you nearly collided with a group of students. They seemed just as shocked as you, before one of the boys perked up.
“Hey Y/N!” Impulse, if you recalled correctly. The others were Grian, hanging (almost upside-down) off the much taller Mumbo’s arm, Pearl walking a half-step behind to catch him if he fell, and Scar, sitting in a wheelchair near the middle of the group. They all smiled as they recognized you from history class. This was the energetic group known as Boatem.
Grian nearly launched himself upward until he could truly perch on Mumbo’s arm. “We were just looking for you!”
You’re sure you must have had a look of horror on your face as Scar leaned forward. “Have we got a proposal for you.”

I had been reading about how Sir Impulse, though the only 100% normal human of the group, ought to have an amazing back story.
In Hermitcraft 9, Impulse is a dwarf, but in this AU, he shouldn't be a dwarf, so ... why not be raised by dwarves?
'It's brilliant!' I thought. 'A human boy raised by dwarves, adventuring out into the world to find his place in it! But why does that sound so familiar?'
Then I remembered one of the best light fantasy series of all time, and one of my favorite characters from it:
Carrot Ironfoundersson of Discworld by Terry Pratchett.
I had thought about writing up a one shot detailing his childhood, but there is no way how I can compete against Kzad-bhat for a dwarven name.
So, instead of writing the story for real, I'll just share the idea, which I'd be surprised if it goes "canon": Impulse was found by dwarves as an infant and raised by them, given a dwarven name that means "Impulse" (as in "we picked this kid up on a whim," "this kid has very little self control," or both). When he was about 12, pirates accidentally tried burying their treasure in the mines, there was some kind of skirmish, and Impulse was spirited away by them. He had to adapt to surface living, learning new languages and cultures as he slaved away on that pirate ship, traveling the world, surviving life amongst murderers, liars, and thieves on the high seas. He eventually escapes (survived a shipwreck, maybe?) and he had been traveling the world trying to get back home. Unfortunately, that dwarven kingdom was so isolated that Impulse couldn't find even a mention of it anywhere, and he was truly lost. Now, he is no longer actively looking for home (he has to make a living, after all), but he came into the Boatem Order with more experiences, stories, knowledge, and skills than the average knight.
This will be the version of Impulse that I will be working with in my story, unless @applestruda would rather I didn't.

Thursday 15th June --
Fancied trying to do some writing today, so below the cut is my first, actually finished attempt at writing something for the myct fandom. It's a little Redscape/Mumscarian scene from an AU I've had buzzing around in my brain for a while.
Basic premise - Boatem, sailing the world for treasure. That's it. But of course I had to make it shippy. I might write the whole thing at some point but who knows.
Also this is very very unedited. Its past 1am for me and I am so tired so if this is horrific apologies!
Mumbo's voice broke the tranquil quiet of the night at sea, startling Scar into a more upright position in his seat with a grunt.
Boatem Pirates AU - Nighttime Talks
"Scar?"
"Ah- Mumbo! You surprised me," he turned to face his mustached companion, dusting himself off as if he hadn't just been caught nearly asleep at the wheel. "What brings you out here in the middle of the night?" He tilted his head, adding in a teasing tone, "I'm sure Grian is missing you."
"I couldn't sleep," seemingly feeling like that was a good enough answer, rather than explain himself at all Mumbo instead raised an eyebrow at him, "But it looks like you should. When was the last time you slept?"
"I'm fine," Scar snorted, waving a hand dismissively, "Just daydreaming is all. I'll get some sleep when Impulse takes over at dawn."
Mumbo hummed, a noise somewhere between concern and acknowledgement. "Sure. If you say so. Now budge up a bit, its freezing out here."
Scar chuckled but obliged, scooting along in his seat so Mumbo could sit with him. It wasn't exactly comfortable but Scar was never one to miss out on an opportunity.
"Well why didn't you say so?" as soon as Mumbo was settled he pulled his arms out of his overcoat and tossed it over both their shoulders, "There you go, much better."
The benefit was twofold. Not only did it mean Mumbo was closer to him (as if shoulder to shoulder hadn't been enough) but the way Mumbo blushed at the gesture was adorable.
"Oh, cheers," Mumbo settled then turned and gave him what was probably supposed to be a serious look. The effect was utterly ruined by the fact the tip of his ears were slowly turning the same lovely pink as his face. "Now, Captain Goodtimes."
"Uh oh, the full title, I feel like I'm in trouble."
"Pft, no. Your ship mate," Mumbo rolled his eyes good naturedly, "You wanna sleep sail us into some rocks that's your business."
"Hey! I would never be so careless," Scar splutterred. He probably would (he wasn't known primarily for his clumsiness for no reason), but not while he had other lives on board to worry about.
"Sure," he wasn't sure he particularly liked the disbelieving note in Mumbo's voice there but he continued before he could comment, "What I was gonna say was, I think I've known you long enough now to know when something's bothering you. You've been distracted and spacey all day." His voice softened, and quite out of nowhere, Mumbo raised his hand to gently brush Scar's hair back out of his eyes. "I wanna help, if I can. What were you thinking about?"
The affection, so casually given, was still startling to him. Not that he'd lacked for a kind touch in his life just…this was different. Mumbo wasn't looking out for the abandoned kid he'd found in the woods, or maneuvering him to better suit his pleasure, he was just concerned for him.
Again he couldn't help but wonder what life would be like if he'd known Mumbo and Grian before. Before they were established and clearly happy with just each other. Would…he liked to think maybe…just maybe, there could have been room in their lives for him too.
It was his nature he supposed. Wanting what he couldn't have and chasing it anyway.
Unwilling to ruin the moment, he settled for a half truth. "I was thinking about the moon," Scar said softly, taking his eyes of Mumbo, despite his reluctance, to look back up at the sky.
"The moon?" Mumbo's voice sounded slightly dumbfounded and Scar grinned, delighted to have caught him by surprise.
"Yup. I was thinking about how much of my life is controlled by the moon. I mean, think about it, if anything happens to it - if it moves further away or gets closer somehow - it'd throw all the tides out of balance. Who knows where we'd end up. It's kinda crazy to think about." Scar felt his smile falter. Maybe it was because he was so tired, or maybe he just wanted to keep that warm, closeness feeling in his chest for a little longer but whatever the reason he felt a sudden need to continue. "I had a dream once, a while ago, where the moon got really big. Or it crashed. Something like that. Anyway, the moon was gone. And with no tides, I couldn't sail. I was stuck on my island, never seeing the world, never meeting-...never meeting any of the friends I've made."
He lowered his eyes to the horizon, doing his best not to fidget. Despite how strong the impulse to share a little more of himself had been he still didn't think he could look Mumbo in the eye. That felt…a little too vulnerable, a little too real. "That probably doesn't make any sense," he finished softly, hoping he didn't sound as uncertain as he felt.
There was a contemplative pause. "It does." Scar blinked, surprised and stupidly hopeful as he finally turned to look at Mumbo. His dark eyes were shockingly warm, his gaze softer than he'd ever seen it. "Grian did that for me. Got me out of the home I was trapped in and showed me the world. I think about that a lot too. I think it's only natural to wonder what life would be like if things were different."
They fell into a companionable silence for a little while, each taking in the other's words. "I like to think we'd have found each other somehow," Mumbo added finally, quietly.
"You and Grian?" Scar let out a breathy laugh, "I don't think even the universe had a choice there. Pretty sure Grian would find you no matter what corner of the cosmos any Gods tried to hide you in."
"You're not wrong," Mumbo chuckled affectionately, "But I meant us, actually. Me, you and Grian. Cause he'd be like that about you to ya know."
"You think so?" The hope that swelled in His chest was dangerous.
"Of course, once Grian decides you're his best friend there's no backing out," Mumbo grinned, "Pearl and Impulse too, no one escapes the pesky bird once he's decided your his."
His? Was Mumbo trying to kill him? Gods above did he like the sound of it though…
"Only a truly crazy soul would try," he agreed solemnly, determinedly ignoring the heat he could feel rising on his face. "Not me. Never."
"Good," Mumbo looked satisfied and for a.second he thought he'd leave it at that, get up and head back to bed. Instead though, Mumbo scooted a little closer, leaning against him just a little.
"Still cold?" Scar asked, raising an eyebrow as his mustached friend.
"Nah, I'm good where I am." Apparently comfortable now they were essentially all but cuddled under Scar's overcoat, he found his gaze again. "You?"
"Me?" Scar gave Mumbo his best lopsided grin, "Absolutely a-may-zin."

Zombie aus will always have a special place in my heart and I've been watching a lot of hermitcraft content lately and my favorite movie is Dead Poets Society sooo
Hermitcraft Zombie au
The premise is that they were all kids at a boarding school, with different groups of hermits being in different areas of the campus. It's a surprisingly large campus, being one of the biggest in the area, and the zombie thing started while the school had a week-long break, with the hermits not going home to visit their families for various reasons.
I'm currently making a list of hermits and what their groups are or if they're alone and such with two friends of mine, but the most coherent group dynamic is currently Xisuma, Joe, and Keralis.
The basics are this, X, and Keralis were in the same area of the campus when everything went down, but they didn't meet up for about a week. Though they've basically been inseparable since, and about a week after that they stumbled across Joe and Cleo. The four of them were a secure group for a while before Cleo was bit, but Joe pleaded not to have her be killed so they locked her in a room and secured her as best they could. Joe hasn't been the same since then, but it seems to calm him to know that Cleo's still around even in some sense. Keralis is very farsighted, and without his glasses is basically blind. As such, he's pretty worried about being a burden to his friends, though they often reassure him that he's not a burden at all! Nobody knows the building like him, and he's best when it comes to deciding if an area's structurally sound due to his architectural knowledge. In the beginning, Xisuma had an accident which gave him some pretty heavy facial scarring, and he wears a motorcycle helmet to cover it. He hasn’t shown anyone in his group what he looks like at all because of his helmet, and because Xisuma was a private nickname between him and his brother there isn't really a way to pinpoint if they've seen him aside from his voice.
Other groups include: Boatem - The largest group in the school, consisting of Grian, Impulse, Mumbo, Scar, and Pearl. They used to have another member, Impulse's friend Skizz, but he was bitten and they couldn't save him no matter how much they tried. Wels and Bdubs - Fantasy nerd and feral goblin. Wels was dating someone at the time of the apocalypse (Ms.Welsknight, known in this au as Sybyll) but hasn't seen her since. It's eating away at him, but he still has hope! Or at least, he tries to anyway. Also, Bdubs is missing two fingers, don't ask how. It happened when Wels wasn't around. Ren and Doc- Of course they ended up together, they're practically joined at the hip and were even before everything went down! Ren's partially deaf and has taken to adopting stray dogs on the street and attempting to train them, while Doc finally gets to unleash his inner chaos and "rain hellfire from above". BigB - Yeah he's on his own mostly, if a hermit can get to him he'll help them but otherwise he has his own problems to sort out and doesn't really need anyone dragging the undead to his doorstep. Iskall and Etho - They've got on pretty well so far! Only two eyes have been lost between them, but neither of them have been killed yet so that's a win in their books. Iskall outright lost their eye, but they scrounged up a glass eye from somewhere so they have that. Etho on the other hand was blinded but kept his eye. Also, yes he looks like Kakashi in this au mans dyed his hair grey cause he thought it'd be cool and has a black headband that he uses to keep his hair out of his face what else do you want from him??

ended up trying tu summarise my frozen watcher au through stories on insta after i got asked in comments so i’m retyping everything here too. wanted to make a proper mega post one day but this’ll have to do
so Warmth of the Winter Sun (wows) or just Frozen Watcher, is a hermitcraft 8 au based on the boatem crew and hugely  inspired by both of the Frozen movies. Basically, I just wanted to play with the concept of watchers that is over used in the fandom, and made it a frozen au because of a skin made for halloween mcc last year (grian as elsa done by mahgck)
Grian is the “lucky” kid who got gifted a part of the watchers’ power and gained matter manipulation magic; he can manipulate any object and part of landscape and change its form at will. It goes as far as turning matter into another one and can have effect on the weather (mostly by summoning storm clouds) When the manipulation goes too far, the matter turns into something similar to minecraft sculk, some kind of nebula cloud, way easier to manipulate, but can also spread on its own and corrupt stuff.
Pearl is his little sister, and unfortunately, the accident is still a thing there haha. Living matter (other than plants) immediately corrupts under Grian’s magic, and Pearl got something she though was a burn scar on the side of her face.
I’m adding a twist tho, as the siblings acually got cursed through the accident; if they’re too close, Pearl’s injury would spread and threaten to suffocate her. If they’re too far, it’s Grian’s heart that can’t handle it. (Yeay i like angsty stuff like that). So they spent the rest of their childhood trying to keep a middle ground, apart from one another (Pearl not knowing why as you could guess).
For the following I need to settle more background lore I made for this. The siblings are the heirs of the Mountain kingdom, a part of a huge island they inhabit with several other kingdoms. These different factions were all at war for years, until “something” caused a massive explosion during an atempt between monarchs to set peace. They all died. Leaving the island in a cold war the time their orphaned heirs reach adulthood.
(The “something” and the war will be relevant for what would be “frozen2″ haha. The universe is also set in something like northern UK in the 50′s)
SO back to main plot, Grian doesn’t lose control as he becomes king. He had the role for a couple years actually. But he had organised a ball to set real peace across the island once and for all, despite his fear of his power being reveal. He failed, as you can guess, but he tried his best ! And you can imagine how the other monarchs reacted, thinking they had been tricked into a trap when Grian’s black magic reveal itself. So yeay, some background part of the au is the monarchs trying to dismantle the Mountain kingdom as Grian exiled itself somewhat.
The following goes mostly like in Frozen; Pearl sneaks off to find back her brother; finds out a plush she made as kid and gave to Grian, Mumbo, is now alive (and having massive existential crisis); and travels with a friend she met years prior while sneaking off the castle, Impulse, and Scar, a cat shapeshifter.
Grian morphed an entire mountain into his s7 mansion (no need to make the back /hj), and once the curse got him back with violent hearthache, he’s ready to give up just so the curse can finally break (the song monster from the musical be like)
A huge thing I changed is the whole thing about true love, as I didn’t want to have shipping in this au. Mostly, it’s just pearl, once she learns the curse “needs true love to fade away”, thinking she’s doomed for good as she doesn’t have anyone, and thinks her death would somehow be another way to break the curse. (Yeay both sibling are being suicidal at one point, ready to die so the other gets free of the curse)
I’m still indecive about how to make the end of this, as i want the aftermaths of the plot to be more obvious than canon Frozen. Don’t worry no one dies tho !! I still need them for part 2 okjihibuv
Part 2 of the au is for now very vague; all I know for sure is that it has a rather sad ending (I’m going full on “fix it” on that one, loved Frozen2 but the plot from deleted scene could have been epic haha). I will have stuff with the island war and shapeshifter lore, and I already made edits to the wonky spirits for the au. But other than that, that’s basically all!
Well, I went rambling quite a lot for just some summary... Hope i’ll have more drawing f this to post this year tho !

Roller blades touched the ground and Grian laughed. He'd just landed a backflip, maybe not quite where he intended, but he landed. And now the momentum was keeping him rolling along the Boatem pavements.
Scar caught Grian by the waist as he rolled past, picking him up off the ground.
"Scar-!"
Once Grian was no longer struggling in his arms, Scar quickly put him down and pushed him up against the wall to prevent escape. If Grian was given a moment to escape he would take it, Scar knew, and he would fly off, throwing himself through the sky at break neck speeds.
Racing with Grian was always exhilarating.
"Hello, Grian."
Hands slipped under Grian's shirt, resting against his spine.
"Hey, Scar."
"I have a question." Scar murmured into Grian's ear.
Grian gave a breathy laugh. "Ask away."
"Why did 'Ariana' cover up my art?"
Grian groaned in annoyance and pushed his head back against the wall.
"I didn't. Some kid out there decided to paint over it with an obnoxious tag. I was covering their work up."
"Oh. I was trying to figure out why you called it rude. Who are they with?"
Grian couldn't help the little wince he gave when Impulse landed on the exact rail he'd missed just moments before.
"Dunno, never seen their style before. Hopefully 'Ari' going out of her way to tell them off will scare them."
Scar pulled away, leaving both disappointed by the loss of each other's warmth, and then Scar pulled Grian out into the middle of the pavement and spun him around, making Grian smile.
"Either way, we'll get them." Scar grinned back. Then he stole a kiss and pushed Grian, causing him to slowly roll away. Once he was sure Scar was done with him, Grian was off, pink scarf fluttering in the wind.
Scar put his headphones back on, skating off in the other direction with an Ariana song playing in his ears. Maybe he could run into whoever it was himself.

Jet Set Radio kind of au anyone? Nope? Shame, I've already designed Griande.
I imagine whoever is encroaching on their territory is like... idk Tommy or something, but I don't intend on taking this any further than I already have at present.
The Boatem crew includes Cub (since he was right next to boatem during season 8 and also because convexian) but does not include Pearl, Pearl is a part of the Wither Roses, and the wither roses' territory is right next to boatem's, so they have an alliance. Pearl and Grian being siblings helps.
Grian sometimes dresses as Poultry Man or Griande as he runs around. Just takes on the personas. He is in fact actually Griande and the fact that the radio station everyone listens to plays his music so often is driving him crazy.
Every server roughly correlates to a district, with some alterations to who's in what gang.
-@scitties-enjoyer
I have no clue what jet set radio is but I'm loving this so much. Roller skating? Graffiti art? Scarian? YES PLEASE SIR MORE MORE
Tommy would 100% be tryna take over someone's territory

FIRST CHAPTER OF PARROT COVEN AU!!!! ITS SO GOOD! ESPECIALLY THE SCENE WHERE GRIAN GETS IN TROUBLE BECAUSE OF THREE KIDS! That’s my favorite so far, and that we get to see Impulse and Grian friendship!!!
Could you tell us more about Xisuma and Impulse?
- Lurker Anon ❤️❤️❤️
ehehe thankie!!! :D
that one grian scene is def my favorite from the chapter hehe. grian and impulse friendship my beloved 🥺
so currently I don’t actually have a lot figured out for xisuma besides he’s a town official in boatem, and he’s known grian for a while. but he’s definitely not human — just don’t know what he is yet! :D
as for impulse, I won’t say much or else it’d ruin the surprise :3 but he’s not human (no matter how much he may want to be). and he’s a lot sadder than he appears… he deserves a big hug
