Desperate to prevent a war, the lands call together a Council of Kings (and we know that didn't go well last time). Meanwhile, Jon Hunter and Sir Ferenc investigate a murder in the castle, the trail of which leads to a new conspiracy. As the conflicts escalate, Elizabeth leads Helena and Sara on a mission to uncover the secret of the burning fields. This leads her to a startling revelation and the specter of a new threat rising. And when she's confronted with a harsh reality, how far will Elizabeth go in the name of blood and magic?

Thoughts and Theories about Mary Kreiburg, Joseph, and Count Barriere
TLDR:
What if Mary Kreiburg was murdered?
What if Joseph is someone else, like Mary is with Mary Kreiburg
What if Count Barriere is behind the Racecourse tragedy?
What if Joseph = Count Barriere?
What we know:
Manus de Capet, an Irish nobleman, acquired Oletus Manor. “His noble conduct was very popular. The middle class families in the vicinity hoped to marry off their daughters to him”.
Manus fell in love at 1st sight with Mary Kreiburg, a noblewoman from Austria.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mary grew depressed after the wedding, supposedly due to “Mary’s lack of suitable social venues”. As a result, Manus built Kreiburg Racecourse for her. The racecourses became the hottest social event in town.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Was going fine until 1 day Mary committed suicide on the racecourse. An ominous air then filled the place. Soon after her death, racehorses “galloped out of the track and caused a fatal stampede”. This got Manus caught in a lengthy lawsuit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Either due to pressure from the claimants, or sorrow from the death of his wife, it was said “Manus went mad, and he was never seen again”. The manor was sold off by Manus’ creditors.
Tumblr media
Alice: Manus seemed to love his wife, so why did Mary take her own life? Orpheus: There are theories, such as that she had an affair with a jockey and was condemned for it, she couldn’t take the pressure then took her own life. Some say it was a murder disguised as a suicide.
Tumblr media
Theory: What if Mary was indeed killed rather than her death being due to suicide?
Manus and Mary were both wealthy, and Manus was already said to have “middle class families” trying to marry their daughters off to him. So it’s possible some were equally interested in Mary
Mary Kreiburg being killed would parallel very well with Marie Antoinette being executed.
Part of the reason for Marie’s death (and why she was unpopular) was for her extravagance (combined with lack of money and food for people at that time), as well as slander against her due to who she was/her family and where she came from, combined with scandals like the Diamond Necklace Affair. So, maybe whoever killed her and why could be related to her wealth (aka greed) or potentially a scandal similar to the Diamond Necklace Affair, especially since Mary’s very first letter is about this event. We do see Mary with a necklace and jewelry in that 1 scene during AoM part 1 before we see Manus making the racecourse for her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s also possible, if she has more similarities to Marie Antoinette, that she could’ve been similarly slandered (had bad things said about her), which maybe could help explain why Marie was so depressed.
Considering the tragedy at the racecourse (stampede) happens soon after Mary’s death, I wonder if the same people that caused Mary Kreiburg’s death could’ve caused the horses to go out of control too? It would at least somewhat parallel what happened to Mary Antoinette’s husband (who was also killed. He even tried to flee to another country, which could fit with Manus disappearing after his trouble with the lawsuit and everything. There were even rumors spread about him too, so maybe Manus being treated and talked about badly after the Kreiburg Racecourse incident would parallel that too).
De Capet, from Manus’ name, could refer to the Capetian dynasty, the ruling family of France from the 10th to 18th centuries, and Louis XVI, Marie Antoinette’s husband, was part of the Capetian dynasty.
Thoughts about Joseph
Tumblr media
Theory: What if Joseph’s in the main story similar to Mary is with Mary Kreiburg?
He needs a role in the story (not yet in any games or tied to anyone else), but has issues (like Mary does) with the time period he’s from (aka, too long ago)
Joseph’s life goes downhill (essentially starts) due to Mary’s execution. Their stories are related (same time period, region, etc…). Maybe Joseph will appear in the main story once/now that Mary Kreiburg is dead or as a result of her death?
Tumblr media
Joseph has a fairly major role in the Truth & Inference story, which has a lot of parallels to the main story, so maybe he could have a fairly big role in the main story as well?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lived in a manor just like how Mary Kreiburg lived at Oletus Manor when she married Manus.
Mentions “mirror’s realm” and people “reacting to the mirror” in his 3rd letter. Mary uses mirrors in game.
Mary as Mary Kreiburg isn’t the literal Queen Marie Antoinette. She’s someone else, but semi related. Maybe Joseph could be something like that? As in not quite himself as we’ve learned from his deductions and backstory, and isn’t from the time of the French Revolution, but does have similarities. Maybe if this is true, whoever his character is will be someone tied to Mary Kreiburg, or at least knows her/met her.
Tumblr media
Theory: Count Barriere may be involved with Mary Kreiburg and the Kreiburg Racecourse
Manus bought Oletus Manor, which is owned by Count Barriere, as shown by him owning Orpheus’ debt. So it’s possible Count Barriere knew both Manus and Mary Kreiburg.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Count Barriere, even indirectly, is related to a lot of other accidents, even if only due to being the owner of the land, including Moonlit River Park and the Hullabaloo tragedy. It’s possible Count Barriere could’ve been behind or the cause of the horse from the Kreiburg racecourse going out of control.
Tumblr media
Theory: What if Joseph is Count Barriere
Tumblr media
Barriere is a name of French origin, but Count Barriere (likely) is in England. Joseph is French but forced to move to England after the French Revolution.
Both Barriere and Joseph are Counts (as is DM)
Barriere owns the mountain where Oletus Manor is, confirmed by how Count Barriere is the one Orpheus originally owed his debt to before Barriere changed the creditor to be Lily. Joseph also owns a large manor with a lot of servants.
The Barriere family is an old, wealthy family. Joseph also comes from a noble family (from before the French Revolution), and DM with the Melodis family is also an old, wealthy family.
Count Barriere is constantly involved with death and tragedy (Golden Cave mine incident, Moonlit River Park Hullabaloo tragedy, Lakeside Village disappearances, Oletus Manor DeRoss tragedy). Joseph is also involved with death and tragedy, considering he causes many people to go missing due to his experiments and how he traps people in his photo world to try to preserve them (prevent them from growing old or dying). DM is also involved in experiments, and just like Barriere, even if he isn’t the direct cause of the deaths that occur, he is still always behind it somehow or involved in some way.
Joseph mentions trying to “complete this sacred ritual” to see Claude again. Count Barriere, whether he’s involved in rituals, due to his connection to Golden Cave with the eye in there, Hastur with Lakeside Village, as well as Yidhra with Lakeside and Darkwoods (also land owned by Barriere), he does have connections to Cthulhu mythos stuff, and all the deaths he causes could potentially be said to be for a “ritual”.
Joseph is someone who doesn’t often leave his manor or socialize as he spends most of his time with his pictures of Claude or in his darkroom with his experiments (or photo world). Barriere is not someone who has really appeared in social events (though he does start them) or has appeared before anyone yet (from what we know so far).
Joseph’s singular motivation is to see Claude again and does not care about anyone else. Barriere is also someone who does not care for anyone else (not his 2nd son at least, and even Lily, his granddaughter, he only uses for his own ends, aka manipulates). Maybe Joseph causing people to disappear and his experiments could give Barriere some reasons for why he’s doing some of what he’s doing.

I recently watched a review of the Hellboy 2019 movie and the reviewers commented on a line where Nimue said something along the lines of 'They've exchanged swords for singing contests', saying it was random and didn't add to the story. Bit nitpicky, but it made me wonder how it could affect the story, so imagine this.
An ancient witch with godlike powers from the dark ages seeks to wipe out mankind for their transgressions, but is defeated and either killed or sealed away. Centuries pass, the world changes, and either some cultists or just evil creatures bring her back to destroy the humans. She haughtily demands a device to learn what has happened whilst she has been gone, and is brought a computer, which she uses dark magic to extract knowledge from. And she is shocked. So much change. Women now can vote, most countries don't have foolish human kings anymore. There's a lot less racism, gay people are allowed now, and there's all these new lands and continents that have been discovered that she'd only heard stories about. The church, which she spent most nights cursing, has released it's vice like grip on education, allowing medicine and other sciences once laughed at to grow in power. And humans barely even know about us anymore, there's no witch burning, no dragon slaying. Look at all these common humans, on all these sites with the funny names, talking about US. It's amusing how many of them mostly want them carnally, she can just imagine what the reactions of her old generals would have been, but still! This could be a chance for change, for growth. And...by the gods....they left the planet. These modern humans have walked among the stars, on the moon, have looked down on this world and acknowledged it's beauty. She'd always wanted to try going to the moon, but she'd always been busy, was the war, fighting wizards, and alk that stuff. Huh. Can I really destroy them now?
Of course the world still sucks in many ways, but to someone who had been dropped from the Dark Ages to the modern era it must seem magnificent.

The War of Two Queens
Written by: Jennifer L. Armentrout
4.5 Stars / 5 Stars
Tumblr media
Summary
Casteel and Poppy face the cunning and depraved Blood Queen of Solis. Poppy is determined to free her heartmate and destroy the Blood Crown once and for all. With the support of the draken and the wolven, she must convince the Atlantian generals to make war her way. The couple must embrace old and new traditions to protect their loved ones. However, ancient primal powers have awakened, revealing a horrifying past. To stop the Blood Queen, Poppy may have to embrace her fears and become the Harbinger of Death and Destruction.
Review
When Kieran, Poppy & Cas finally performed the Joining, the scene was far too short and lacked details, in my opinion. Without spoiling the story, the ongoing battle between Poppy and the Blood Queen was compelling, and the ending was completely unexpected. However, the protagonist's constant inner dialogue became repetitive and exhausting to read. Overall, I would recommend Jennifer L. Armentrout's From Blood to Ash series for lovers of spicy romances!

A Fool’s Errand [Explicit]
prompt by @14daysdalovers
Fandom: Dragon Age Inquisition Pairing: Abelas/Makenna
Read on AO3
Abelas was resolute in his purpose, his mission. He knew without a doubt why he stood in front of her, fingers curled around the hilts of his daggers, yet he hesitated. Perhaps one might find him foolish for planning to assassinate a goddess. But he knew Makenna as more than just The Morrigan. He knew her as the woman who had burrowed into The Dread Wolf’s heart, and the only voice that made Fen’harel falter and question his purpose, his goals.
She couldn’t be allowed to stop him. Couldn’t prevent Fen’harel from bringing down the veil and ushering back a new age for elves. Abelas needed home. Needed the crystal spires of Arlathan as a beacon and needed to feel the world vibrate with magic and spirits. He craved home, having suffered the effects of being sundered for far too long.
“I’ve come to kill you,” he declared, the metal growing warm in his hands.
Makenna raised an eyebrow, wine glass resting on her bottom lip. “Oh?”
“Yes.”
She sipped the fragrant blood-red liquid, her throat bobbing as she swallowed, until the glass was nearly empty. Glass clinked on the dark wood of the table. Her fingers remained curled around the stem. Purple eyes stared into his. Plush lips curved into a small smile.
“I don’t believe you,” she said, melodic voice tinged with amusement.
“Why else would I have come?”
Makenna crossed one knee over the other, the slit of her dress revealing miles of creamy calves and thighs, and leaned back in her chair. “You are lost.”
Abelas swallowed. “I am.”
“Unmoored.”
“Yes.”
“You are craving something to cling to.”
He didn’t respond, and Makenna smirked. She stood from the chair, nearly as tall as he was, and crossed the room—completely unperturbed by his declaration and the daggers in his hands—to grab the bottle of wine and another glass.
“Mythal asked you to guard the temple, the well, and you did so for many long years,” she said, walking back in front of him, his eyes glued to the graceful curve of her neck. “You did everything she asked without question. A loyal soldier to her causes. And she abandoned you.”
Abelas’ hands shook. “You don’t know anything,” he hissed.
Makenna uncorked the bottle. “What don’t I know? Mythal walked Thedas, plunging her fingers into this world whenever and however she thought fit, but how many times did she come to you? Her loyal sentinel.” She filled both glasses. “Now she is entwined with another you must follow, your pledge all those years ago robbing you of choice.”
“N-no.”
She turned back to him, holding both glasses. “How long did you wait for orders? For Mythal to return and tell you what she needed of you. How long did you wait to worship your patron once more before you realized she had abandoned you?”
“She did not abandon me,” he whispered, but even he did not believe his words.
“If that were true you would not be here.”
“I have come…” he trailed off, faltering in his conviction. Had he come to kill her? Truly?
Makenna held a glass up to her lips and he watched as she quietly spat into the wine. A trick of hers he had seen before. He had watched how easily she could climb into another’s head and take control of them. Take what she needed and dispose of them. She handed him the glass. Abelas kept his fingers curled around the dagger, eyes boring into hers as he waited for the feeling of her entering his mind, coaxing him to drink the wine and submit to her control.
She didn’t.
The dagger into the sheath, and he curled his fingers around the stem. He didn’t drink. Makenna left him standing there and sat back in her chair, her body appearing relaxed, but her muscles were coiled with tension. Perhaps to stop him if he did try to kill her.
“Are still you going to kill me?” she teased, sipping her wine.
“I should.”
“Probably.”
“Why aren’t you controlling me?” he asked.
“Do you want me to control you?”
Abelas’ eyes flicked to the wine. He still did not drink.
“Why did you come, Abelas?” she asked, softly, more Makenna than The Morrigan in that question.
When he didn’t answer he felt the whisper of fingers against the back of his head. They cradled his neck before sinking into his hair, pushing through his scalp into his mind. He shuddered, his eyes fluttering closed. He had expected it to hurt. Expected her to tunnel into his mind and take over, but her touch was soft, almost reverent. Multiple hands ghosted across his skin, tracing the bones of his face and neck and chest. They drifted lower and he gasped.
They fled and he ached, mourning the loss of the tender touches.
His eyes shot open and he watched as she tipped her head back and laughed. He licked his chapped lips, throat growing parched. “You mock me.”
“Oh, Abelas,” —she pressed her fingers to her mouth to hold in her laugh—“I adore you. A lost sentinel built for worship with no one to worship. Abandoned by his gods. Searching for purpose. You are wanting and I can provide.”
The dagger he hadn’t sheathed clattered to the floor. Abelas sank to his knees before her. Wine spilled over the edge of the glass as his hand trembled. He had not come to kill her. He had come so the goddess of Life and Death, War and Destruction, and Shadow and Secret, would unearth the desire he had tried so desperately to lock away deep inside. He had come for guidance, a firm hand, and if Fen’harel’s lover was the one to deliver it, he could only be so lucky.
She curled her fingers under his chin and he leaned into her touch. “Drink, Abelas, and offer yourself to me.”
The glass seared his lips. Wine sluiced down his throat, thick and pungent like blood. He drank every drop. The glass shattered onto the floor between them. Makenna framed his face with her slender fingers, her lips claiming his, more wine dripping from her mouth and into his until he thought he might choke. He felt her. Sinking under his skin. Traveling through his veins. Latching to his mind. Overwhelming him. Claiming him. She stole the very air from his lungs and he only wanted to give her more.
She leaned away, smiling as his mouth chased hers. Her fingers traced the roots of his vallaslin down his chin and throat, stopping at the collar of his shirt. “Show me the whole of your devotion, Abelas. Show me what you pledged to Mythal.”
He stood, careful to avoid the shattered glass at his feet, his fingers trembling as he undid his armor. Each piece hit the floor with a hollow sound. Her gaze dragged down the roots that carved down his neck and chest. They swirled around her arms and wrapped around his hips. Abelas had given every bit of himself to Mythal only to end up alone in a crumbling ruin, clinging to the echoes of memories in the halls.
Glass crunched under her boots. The pads of her fingers gently traced the old carvings spanning his body. He shivered under the touch, waiting for the firmer hand. Her lips brushed his shoulder, the fabric covering her chest scratching his back, her hand drifting down his abdomen.
“Beautiful,” she breathed the words into his skin and he sighed. “So much devotion. I will not waste it.”
“Please,” he murmured, choking back a cry as her fingers wrapped around the base of his cock and stroking her fingers up and down his length, thumb swiping away the pre-cum that beaded on the flushed head of his cock.
Her mouth latched onto his neck, sucking the tender skin while he leaned his head back against her shoulder. His knees shook, threatening to send them both crashing to the floor, but he leaned into her. Anchored himself to her. Her fire swirled in his abdomen. She called to it to her hand with each stroke until Abelas felt swollen and achingly full. He whimpered.
“Come for me, Abelas,” she cooed, her lips brushing the sensitive shells of his ears. “I have you. I will keep you.”
Thighs shaking, tears gathering in his eyes, Abelas did exactly as she ordered. Release spilled over her fingers. He shook, shivering against her as she held him to her. He waited for the sharp sting of regret. The bittersweet taste that would linger on his tongue. The voice in his head that would remand him for giving away devotion to a goddess not from this land, and certainly not Elvhen.
She kissed his cheek. “Still come to kill me, Abelas?” she teased.
His lips curved into a rare smile. “I have come to worship.”

*leans to another rocket chair* *ahem* can I request BQ and Michiko react to their mini selves attacking them to protect a platonic!fem reader-
The mini hunters always be beefin' with the actual hunter's in my headcanon
(F/n) = Friends name
Platonic Michiko and Blood Queen with their mini selves protecting F!reader headcanons:
Michiko:
Michiko decided to go friendly for the match seeing that her best friend was selected
She hadn't had the chance to talk to her friend for a moment, since they were both pretty busy for a couple. She also noticed they gained the mini Michiko which she thought was adorable
When the match started Michiko went to go look for (f/n)
She wanted to play a little prank on her by scaring. Tried to at least
The moment Michiko was creeping up behind (f/n), she heard a little scream and saw the mini running up to her, ready to hit her with the fan
(F/n) turned around to see her little friend trying to fight Michiko and started laughing
Michiko just melted at how cute the mini is and that she was trying to protect (f/n)
"Oh my goodness look at you!! You're so adorable!"
Mini grabbed onto her sleeve trying to fight her that way. But Michiko just laughed and kept gushing at her
But when Michiko doesn't go friendly... It's a pain in the ass because mini alerts (f/n). Every. Single. Time.
It came to a point where she doesn't even go after (f/n) first because if she does, not only mini alerts (f/n). She also ends up alerting others in the area
If mini wasn't so cute, Michiko would've tossed her
"You are very lucky I find you adorable."
"At least mini does it to protect me"
"Mini has caused me to get demoted."
"Oops..."
Michiko doesn't really care about rank all that much unless she sets a goal. And getting demoted wasn't one of them
But in quick-matches she messes with Mini all she wants
When Michiko is just standing by the cipher, mini will literally attack her clothing and Michiko will just continue having a conversation with (f/n)
Mary:
Mary likes to chase survivor's around until she can hold them causing them to realize: "Oh hey she's friendly"
It's just funny to her
Now mini has had staring contests with Mary. Even threatened her with her own mirror shard
Mary is very well aware that mini will ruin her chance of catching (f/n). So she fucking blinks closer and grabs mini and keeps a hand over her mouth then leaves temporarily
"Did Mary just snatch mini?"
Mini got put in timeout and tied to something and proceeds to go back and chase (f/n) just to hold her
"Why you gotta do that?"
"Because giving away that you're friendly is boring."
In non-friendly matches. Mary hates the mini so damn much that she will actually tie her to the rocket chair
When she was carrying (f/n) to the chair. Mini came out of nowhere and jumped on her head, causing her to let go of (f/n)
That was the day Mary decided to treat mini like a 5th survivor
"She's just a baby."
"She's a menace."
(F/n) finds this hilarious because she'll see Mary chasing mini around with a pissed off face
Mary will even consider it a win if she only got mini and the survivor escaped
"Good enough"
"You lost the match"
"And I said this was good enough"
When she sees mini being all sweet and innocent, she's like: "Don't be fooled. She'll pull your hair in a match when given the chance."

So I'm not sure how many of @phoenix-sayeed followers follow me but she asked me spread the news, so here it is.
As of Saturday January 7th, phoenix-sayeed was rushed to the hospital after suffering from a stroke, since then she had another stroke and at least 1 seizure that I know of, if not more. She lost feeling on the left side of her body though I think she regained her ability to use her limbs but she can't eat without choking or breathe while sleeping so she may be transferred to another hospital if they can't help her more.
Suffice to say, Phoenix is on hiatus for an indeterminate amount of time. After the 2nd stroke, communicating is difficult and writing full out chapters is nigh on impossible for her right now. I know she's tough as hell and she'll be back in no time though. Just keep her in your thoughts, (or prayers if you're religious). And thank you all for your patience!
