Dance With Me | Officer K x Reader

Pairing: Officer K x Reader

Summary: One of your favorite songs comes on while you’re cooking dinner, you ask K to dance with you.

Warnings: None, really. Just mostly cute fluff. Can be a bit sad when you think about the fact that K has never danced with anyone before.

Word Count: 872

A/N: This takes place in an apartment that reader and K share, but otherwise there are no mentions of when this scene takes place. I just wanted something cute to write about K. Reader and K have a pre-established relationship, which is why I’ve written him as comfortable with her as he was when he was with Joi in the movie. Thank you @ninjathrowingstork for being my beta!

The soft sound of music, from way before your time, played throughout the apartment you shared with K. You were standing over the stove in your small kitchen, cooking dinner for the two of you, humming and swaying along to tunes that came from the 1950s, 60s, and 70s. It may be a bit strange to be listening to such old music, but there was just something about the songs that felt nostalgic to you. Perhaps it was the part of you that wished for simpler times. Whatever it was that always had you turning this playlist on while you were cooking, K didn’t seem to mind. Actually, he seemed to enjoy it just as much as you did. He stood at the entrance of the kitchen, shoulder pressed into the wall and arms crossed over his chest as he watched you. You stirred the noodles and synthetic proteins in the pot, setting down the spoon and turning to face K as you let the food cook.

‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’ by Elvis Presley began playing in the background, one of the first slower and romantic songs to play this evening, and it brought a question to your mind. “Have you ever danced, K?” You asked curiously.

K blinked a few times, seemingly clearing his mind of whatever thoughts he was having while he watched you silently. He regarded you for a moment then shook his head. “I have memories, but they’re not real.” He admitted softly.

That answer pulled on your heartstrings. You couldn’t imagine how it feels to have years worth of memories that simply weren’t real; to know that all of your fondest memories never actually happened. You smiled softly at him. “But, you do know how to dance?”

He thought for a moment and then gave a nod, “Yeah.”

You hummed softly in response, turning your attention back towards the noodles. “Good.” He raised a brow at your response, but said nothing. A few more minutes passed and dinner was ready. You were in the process of ladling the noodles and broth into bowls when one of your favorite songs came on, L-O-V-E by Nat King Cole. Letting out a gasp, you set the ladle back into the pot. “Oh, I love this song!” You exclaimed, moving to close the gap between you and K. Now standing in front of him, you gave him the best puppy eyes you could. “Would you please dance with me?”

K smiled and nodded, offering you his hand. “Of course.” You beamed up at him, accepting his hand as he led you into the living room where there was space to move around. His free hand wrapped around your waist and pulled you in close, while your arm wrapped around his neck. Your hands were still clasped together as you began to dance along to the music, K’s eyes gazing into yours. As the two of you moved about the room, you thought of how grateful you were to have moments like these with him. There was once a time when K was afraid to touch you, always looking away when you caught his gaze. It took a while for him to become comfortable around you, and a lot of reassurance from you that you wanted him in your life.

“What are you thinking about?” K questioned, noticing the thoughtful look upon your face as he raised your arm to twirl you. You couldn’t help but giggle as he brought you back to his chest quickly, still waiting for you to answer with a brow raised.

You bit down on your bottom lip gently. “Just thinking about how much I love you,” you admitted, causing a warm smile to spread across K’s face. He raised your arm to twirl you again. However, instead of pulling you right back to his chest again, he released your hand and placed both of his on your back, leaning you backwards in a dip. K held you there for a moment, leaning down so his lips hovered above yours.

“I love you too,” he confessed, capturing your lips in a passionate kiss. As the final chords of the song played, he lifted you back into an upright position, lips still attached to yours. When you finally drew away for air, he didn’t move far, his intense blue eyes locked with yours. You felt your heart swell in your chest.

“Not bad for your first time,” you teased, a grin lighting up your face.

He hummed softly in response. “You’re my first in everything that matters, honey, and my last.” He whispered, pressing his lips to yours once again as ‘At Last’ by Etta James began playing through the speakers. K’s arms wrapped around your waist as yours linked around his neck, your bodies pressed together as the two of you gently sway to the new song.

Dinner seemed to be long forgotten about, but neither of you cared. You were quite content to stay within his embrace for the rest of the night, and that’s exactly what you did. You lost count of how many songs you and K danced to, but you knew it was a night that neither of you would ever forget.

SUMMARY-> In the year 2049, humans have inventions that solve all problems but loneliness. The cold and cruel city of Los Angeles is all K has ever known. He's an object, a tool, a weapon. He wants to be a man, a friend, a lover. This loneliness, this isolation, this longing to feel, to have a skin to skin interaction, a soul to soul connection -even though he's been told he doesn't have one- leads him to a small brothel. There he meets Melody. He knows that's not her real name. He's not even sure if she's human. He also knows he isn't allowed to see her face but only to hear her voice and to feel her mouth and hands on his manhood. The milking table is K's outlet to the hunger that gnaws at his very being, but could it ever give him what he really craves?

Getting to know teacher!eddie from Notes on a Scene

Thanks to @myosotisa @jo-harrington and @deathbecomesthem for kicking off this brilliant idea and to @br0ck-eddie for tagging me!

Here's the original post with the questions, if you feel so inclined!

What story is he from? What kind of story is it (Fix-it fic, Older!Eddie, Rockstar!Eddie etc)?

teacher!AU inspired by my steve series the kids aren't alright; it's a quasi-coming of age story, in that, eddie grapples with being an adult (which, like, don't we fucking all?). New Girl vibes, for sure cut with some miscommunication and chaos because i am nothing if not predictable.

What inspired you to write this Eddie?

he was a secondary character in TKAA and i loved him so much that i thought he deserved his own story.

What are your favorite headcanons about him/share something you never shared in your story?

omgomg okay. eddie stays pretty firmly in his wheelhouse with films, he knows what he likes and what's comfortable - not a huge risk taker in that regard. but reader is a bonafide film teacher and sets out to educate him on the finer points of cult classics and horror. and he's down for it, especially since most of the time when the credits roll he's either balls deep or on his way there. BUT THEN. they watch Bladerunner 2049 and eddie has the gall to FALL ASLEEP!!! jail, jail for a thousand years! reader is shocked and dismayed, denis villeneuve did not go through all that effort for eddie to pass the fuck out because "the score was really soothing," or "nothing happened for the first hour." (he's so like me fr)

What does he wear on a casual day? On a dressier day? What does he wear to bed?

so, while there is a dress code for faculty at school... eddie, predictably, does whatever he wants. mostly jeans and a band tee for day-to-day shenanigans, liiiiike chasing band kids who can't stay in formation on the field or whatever. keeps a jacket in his office because the one time he didn't he was forced to borrow steve's letterman jacket and all the kids asked when the wedding would be.

dressier fare involves whichever jeans are the cleanest, maybe a flannel over the band tee and his leather jacket.

to bed? absolutely nothing. and yes, it will bite him in the ass.

Favorite foods?

a simple man of simple pleasures, he's not picky. pizza, burgers, the works. he does have a tendency to pop tums like they're candy though. hasn't quite worked out the correlation between what he eats and why he feels like shit after the fact. like i said, growing pains.

Tell Us About His Family/Friends

his bff is Trouble from TKAA and steve by proxy. robin'll do in a pinch if the lovebirds are too busy sucking face. but the ace up his sleeve is always wheels aka nancy byers.

and ofc wayne. he keeps trying to tell the old man to retire but he's even more stubborn than eddie is. they have dinner once a week and go fishing in the summer. well, wayne fishes and eddie tries not to fall out of the boat.

he's around teenagers being a teacher and all. so he's pretty varied in his tastes now and remembers being their age and thinking his discovery of metallica or dio was the defining moment of his life and he's not about to yuck their yum. mostly he's exposed to tiktok samples from the band or hellfire kids, and then whatever the fuck is playing at the loft. generally a highly specific playlist or top 40 depending on whose home at the time.

What are his views on romance? On sex?

fun fact: eddie is a HUGE romantic. like, will watch when harry met sally by himself after a shit day and cry. that being said, the college to career pipeline hasn't afforded him many opportunities to show that side of himself. he hasn't had a "real" relationship in a minute, mostly just quick meaningless fucks to keep him sated. so, while he is a romantic, eddie has pretty much separated sex from that equation in this story. consciously or not, he's looking for a deeper connection, a spark that can be fanned into a flame.

Is he optimistic or pessimistic?

he's a realist. working with teenagers helps because they're always there to knock you down a peg and deflate your ego. but he also sees and hears some shit from the kids that breaks his heart.

Where or with whom is he most comfortable?

places he's comfortable would be his office, the loft, reader's house, the hideout, and the soundbooth just off of reader's classroom.

the people he's comfortable with would be the gang (steve, trouble, robin, vickie, jon, nancy, argyle), wayne, and the band or hellfire kids. hop's a mixed bag because he's eddie's boss and the former chief of police - depends on the day and if he needs a favor.

What are his views of his future? What are his hopes/dreams?

hmmm. he definitely wants connection what with everyone around him coupling up and settling down now. he could go either way with teaching? yeah, everyone says it's a calling and yadda yadda and he loves the kids (well, some of them), but if something better came along he wouldn't feel obligated to stay in hawkins.

as far as hopes and dreams go... he wants wayne to retire, and, ideally, let eddie help out with some things like bills or whatever. he's open to the possibility of settling down with the right person. and he really wants to get a dog or something. (watch him end up with an axolotl)

If you haven't read it, the 1992 Robocop versus Terminator crossover is amazingly batshit. As someone who was pretty unimpressed with Frank Miller's script for Robocop 2 (or at least the comic adaptation of it), I liked it a lot. It actually feels like more than an empty action figure mash-up, but a genuine clash of tones and themes, Miller turning out be suprisingly good at evil AI monologues, and he and Walt Simonson could still comicbook like no one else. It ends in the dumbest and absolute best way it could.

I desperately wish I had the ability to sit and read like I used to. I used to be such an avid reader. I'd read a book a week depending on how much school/work got in the way.

Now I can barely even force myself to read a chapter before bed. I have attempted to force myself back to reading again, by reading my favorite book (which is not at all cyberpunk but is a historical fiction). And I DEVOURED that book, and I started on the Witcher after.... I'm still working thru it and 1Q84, which I have almost completed the whole series of 1Q84, but something got in the way, so i decided to start over a couple years after I put it down.. I'm still working my way thru.

I sometimes get the chance to read peoples Fics if they ask me to read it, but beyond that, I'm busy being a mother and world building... though, maybe I should cut back on my vidja game time for reading instead, but I really need instant gratification these days when I have so little time for me.

Though, I will put it on the list of books I might suggest hubby to put it on the list for Audible and see if thats something we might listen to together.

However if we wanna talk A.I, I can talk about I have no mouth and I must scream?

So FUNNY STORY ABOUT THAT!

I used to get such ANXIETY from Cyberpunk dystopia's or anything to do with robots/tech/a.i rising up, or what the government might do with such things. Like it created a whole existential crisis everytime it crossed my mind, just from "I have no mouth and I must scream." well and an i.t abusive ex

When I tried to watch Bladerunner 2049 for the first time, I couldn't make it past them flying over L.A. The oppressive architect and the darkness of the city, everyone all piled together (i grew up rural). It caused a panic attack, I tuned it off. I ofc have gotten over that, because of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, somehow, that cured me. Thanks Studio Trigger. 👍🏽

Anyway AM is one evil sick A.I and scared me beyond belief. Still kinda does. He is A.I right?

Thanks @redmyeyes ! I don’t get tagged for these things often, so yay! Note that I changed some of the asks on here as some of them bored me beyond acceptability.

About Me

Favorite band/artists: The Who, David Bowie, Screaming Trees, Paul Kelly, Queens of the Stone Age, Trail of Dead, so many more.

Last movie: “Fire Island.” It was OK. I don’t see as many movies as I used to pre-Covid. For one thing, I used to go weekly with my Dad. Now he’s afraid to leave his apartment. Not that there are any good movies to see in the theater anyway. Last one I saw in the theater: “Nope.” Meh. There was a lot of water footage on stuff that maybe was symbolic? But otherwise irrelevant?

Favorite movie: My old standby has been “A Clockwork Orange.” The interesting thing about this movie is how disturbing it is. I first saw it when I was 12, and I found it less disturbing then than I did when I was more mature. I have to put a word in for “The Death of Stalin.” I feel like no one saw this, and it’s the funniest movie I’ve ever seen. In a black comedy way. I also love “Mad Max: Fury Road,” “Bladerunner: 2049,” “Last of the Mohicans,” and many more.

Last shows: I just watched Supernatural 11x1 on my umpteenth rewatch. Partway through The Sandman. The Rehearsal. Primal. Evil. Uncoupled. Blown Away. Great Pottery Throw Down. The Late Show. Sex Lives of College Girls. Iron Chef.

When I created this blog: May 2021. I’m not really an oversharer. Much.

What I post: Pretty Dean and Jensen pictures. Great shots of Sam and Dean. The occasional wincest art. Wincest fic recommendations. The occasional recap or essay.

Last thing I googled: “deficiency caused by corn consumption” (answer: Pellagra). I was talking to a friend about how skeptical I am of all supplements. But I did mention that Pellagra was a real problem in the US south in the early 1900s.

Do I get asks: Once? Apparently my air of mystery is off-putting.

Average hours of sleep: 7 if I’m lucky. I tend to wake up in the middle of the night and then I can’t turn my brain off. My “favorite” is rehearsing conversations; or rehearsing explaining the history of the Tudors or network routing to an imaginary audience.

Instruments: My favorite is singing. But I did play electric bass for a little while. I wasn’t very good, but I was proud of myself for singing and playing at the same time in the terrible garage band I was in. We never played live. We covered The White Stripes, Queens of the Stone Age, David Bowie, U2, Donovan, The Cars, Devo, Arctic Monkeys, and so on. Our previous lineup was an obscure psychedelia cover band. I can’t believe I sang “Mind Flowers.”

What I’m wearing: I’m almost always overdressed, which isn’t really the “look” around here. My uniform is a jersey wrap dress. I have like 30 of them in various prints. The secret is that they’re really comfortable. Beats yoga pants.

Dream job: I used to dream about being a home decorator or house flipper. But I know that if I had to cater to other people’s tastes, I’d hate it. I don’t know that there’s any money in that anyway.

Dream trip: Japan. I’m a big fan of classic Japanese cinema. But a few things: I’m fat, and I would feel insecure about my size. Also my back sucks. Also, my husband hates crowds. Also, expensive. Also, I really like comfort.

Nationality: American

Favorite songs: Didn’t we already list favorite bands? I don’t really like the current hit makers. I kind of think when old fogies listen to the latest music it’s a little try-hard.

Last book I read: Consider Phlebus by Iain M. Banks. I’ve read it a few times. I’ve been in a fan-fiction hole for a couple of years now, so my book reading has really slowed down. I love science fiction, and mysteries to a lesser extent. I’m a huge fan of Jack Vance. I’m looking forward to the next Naomi Novik book. My book club book is The Lost Apothecary (I am always really skeptical about reading “best seller” type books, because they aren’t always to my taste. I did like A Gentleman in Moscow, which was one of those. And now Ewan McGregor (❤️) is going to star in the series!) Queued up: Bad Sex, the Fever of the World and a lot more. @lovetheirloves mentioned rereading the Raven Boys, so I might do so too. The weird thing is I recently loaded all of my favorite wincest fics on my Kobo, and it’s weird seeing The Light of Munin next to The Lincoln Highway.

3 fictional universes I’d live in: Middle Earth. I was pretty entranced by the Lord of the Rings back in the day. Similarly, I loved the Ursula LeGuin book The Beginning Place, and I wanted to pass over the creek into that twilight world. I’m not thinking of a third…

Ryan Gosling’s Character Zodiac Signs

Thank you to the girls in the baby goose renaissance discord for always being up for a discussion about Ryan’s characters. Courtland Gentry (The Gray Man) -- Capricorn (or possibly Gemini)

There are so many reasons why I believe Court is a Capricorn. @ninjathrowingstork said it best by saying Court has the Oldest Kid Mentality, being hyper-responsible for everyone. He’s extremely self-sufficient, calculating, cautious, observant and reserved. He checks the box of almost every trait a Capricorn should have---and a lot of them have probably helped him survive as long as he has as a Sierra. He’s also reliable, as Fitzroy knew that if Court was able to walk, he’d be coming to save him and Claire without a doubt. And I’ll be damned if anyone tries to tell him he wasn’t noble for stepping in and saving his brother from their father.

However, we could also see Court as a Gemini, too. He’s charismatic, uses humor as a crutch, sarcastic, and adaptable. Though, I think I lean more towards a Capricorn for him.

Holland March (The Nice Guys) -- Sagittarius

There are so many gifs I could use to represent Holland and his overall hot-mess-express self, but this one is a favorite of mine. Being a Sagittarius myself, it was easy to pick this sign as Holland’s. He’s a walking disaster, yet somehow extremely lucky. Holland’s also rather confident, friendly, flirty, unpredictable, and seems a bit careless like a Sag would be. I’d describe more in detail, but honestly it’s the chaotic energy that he exudes that really reinforces he’s a Sagittarius.

Officer K (Bladerunner 2049) - Pisces

The main Pisces traits that I find in K are that he’s self-sacrificing, introspective, and sensitive. K tends to keep to himself, its a bit introverted and pensive at all times. Of course, it’s not easy for him to make friends in his world, but even when he’s around Joi, you can tell he’s in his head quite a bit before speaking to her. While K doesn’t show too many emotions, the sensitivity comes into play when he realizes he may or may not be the child, and it’s revealed that all K ever really wanted was to be real, have a family and be loved. The self-sacrificing....well, there’s a reason I chose the gif that I did. I don’t want to go into how the ending of this movie made me feel.

Driver (Drive) - Scorpio

Surprisingly, Driver is the only character of Ryan’s that we thought was the same sign as Ryan himself. Scorpios are known to be intense, volatile and unpredictable, almost like a volcano. This really resonates with Driver in the moments where his anger is shown. He’s otherwise very quiet and seemingly calm, but his anger surmounts to a level that has him killing people in brutal ways. Scorpios also have the tendency to keep to themselves and are protective. Driver does all that he can to make sure that Irene and her son are safe, and other than them and Shannon, it’s clear that Driver keeps to himself and doesn’t have many friends.

Luke Glanton (The Place Beyond the Pines) - Aries

Luke’s short-tempered manner definitely leans towards him being a fire sign, but add in his impulsiveness and he just screams Aries to me. Luke shows his short-temper several times in the movie, but most noticeably when he strikes Kofi with the wrench(?). He also shows his impulsiveness when he decides to rob 2 banks in one day, as well as when he decides to quit his job at the carnival to stay near his son without any sort of plan (though, that quick decision is understandable as he was set to leave the next day). Aries tend to have daredevil personalities, and I think we can all agree that Luke’s job at the carnival and his interest in robbing banks fits the definition of a daredevil.

Julian Thompson (Only God Forgives) - Cancer

Cancers are known for being protective and doing the most for their loved ones. I feel this works best for Julian because he does the most for his mother in order to protect her. First, it’s mentioned that he killed his own father for her, and then it’s seen in the movie that he even tries to kill Chang in order to keep her safe. They’re also good with business, and Julian is the head of the family’s drug business, even though he’s the youngest. Generally, that sort of thing falls on the eldest child, so Julian had to have been picked to lead it for some reason. Cancers also tend to be sensitive but have a hard outer shell, and seek comfort. While Julian hardly speaks in this movie, it’s easy to see that he’s got some issues going on, but also that he seems to be a bit more of a sensitive type with a tough outer shell. He sits and listens to his mother talk down to him/about him, and while there’s no outward hint of being upset, a lot of his emotions show through in his eyes. He also craves comfort so much that he literally slices his mother’s stomach open and shoves his hand inside after she’s already dead. (Still shudder every time I think of this scene tbh.)

Jacob Palmer (Crazy, Stupid, Love) - Capricorn (or possibly Leo)

Jacob is our second Capricorn on this list. Capricorns tend to be persistent and know what they want, which is easily shown by how Jacob pursues Hannah, or even any of the women he sleeps with prior to dating her. They also tend to be good at giving advice to others, which is exactly what Jacob does for Cal. Capricorns also tend to carry emotional baggage without telling anyone, and we know from the scene with Hannah that Jacob is the way he is because his father was “too nice,” and his mother was rather cold and uncaring. Aside from drunkenly asking Hannah to ask a personal question, he’s probably never opened up to anyone about that before.

Jacob could also be a Leo, as they’re known for being a bit vain, high maintenance, ambitious, wanting to stand out, and also like living a life of luxury. All of those things ring a bell for Jacob to me (And really, the list could go on there, too).

Dean (Blue Valentine) - Libra

Dean is such an underrated character of Ryan’s. The movie tears you apart, and sure, Ryan is balding for most of the movie as he plays the older version of Dean, but god damn young Dean was fine as hell. He is so so so romantic and charming. He’s also 100% a relationship kinda guy, hopeless romantic who wants to find the love of his life and stay by her side until he dies. He tried so hard to keep the love alive in his relationship when his wife didn’t want to. Libra’s are also supposed to be indecisive, and there’s a moment in the movie where Cindy asks why Dean chose to be a house painter when he was good at so many different things (especially a lot of creative ones---and Libra’s are also creative). I’d be willing to bet that indecisiveness on what he wanted to pursue is part of the reason he took the job and stayed there, even if he could’ve done better or did something he would’ve enjoyed more.

There’s probably more I could find about him if I watched the movie again, but the hopeless romantic thing fits the most with a Libra.

cold hands warm heart: the bad batch || tech unsuccessfully tries to fix a ship. his brothers successfully get him to join the cuddle pile. (happy ending)
