One of my goals for 2024 is to get more people involved in Fandom. I love the communities here on Tumblr & there are so many great & clever people on here who carry so much knowledge. However, that knowledge can & should be shared - at least in my opinion - & an easy way to do that is to get involved on Fandom & their wikis.
Now, I promise, it's not intimidating - if you can create & edit a Tumblr post, you can edit articles & pages on a wiki. Here, you can find an easy step-by-step guide on how to get started with contributing, but you can also message me & maybe I can help guide you through any question marks.
For this first post, I want to highlight some wikis dedicated to children's literature that need some help & love from their fans:
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland - the pages linked here need to be expanded, so if you know something, don't be shy :)
Amelia's Notebooks - the pages linked here need to be expanded
The Blackwell Pages - all pages need to be expanded on
Bone - the pages linked here need to be expanded
Boxcar Children - links need to be added to these pages
Children of the Lamp - the pages linked here need to be expanded
Charlie Bone/The Children of the Red King - all pages need to be expanded on
The Chrestomanci Series - links need to be added to these pages
Emily of New Moon - the pages linked here need to be expanded
Endling - links need to be added to these pages
----
The Green Ember - the pages linked here need to be expanded
Howl's Moving Castle - all pages need to be expanded on
Jumanji - links need to be added to these pages
Little House on the Prairie - add links from IMDb, TV.com & TV Guide to each episode's page, plus the complete cast & crew for each episode
The Magic Thief - all pages need to be expanded on
The Magic Tree House - links need to be added to these pages
The Magisterium - the pages linked here need to be expanded
Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children - the pages linked here need to be expanded
Night Speakers - the pages linked here need to be expanded
Ruby Redfort - the pages linked here need to be expanded
----
The School for Good and Evil - links need to be added to these pages
Septimus Heap - the pages linked here need to be expanded
The Sisters 8 - all pages need to be expanded on
The Three Investigators - links need to be added to these pages
Tom Sawyer/Huckleberry Finn - all pages need to be expanded on
The Underland Cyclopedia - the pages linked here need to be expanded
The Unwanteds Series - links need to be added to these pages
Warhorse - all pages need to be expanded on
Wonder - pages for the cast and crew of the Wonder film need to be added
Zathura - all pages need to be expanded on
Now, this is quite an extensive list, but if your favourite book or series isn't mentioned here, I suggest checking out the literature page, the book club or go to this page & simply search for your favourite book/series/author.
To repeat what I said at the beginning of this post, there is a step-by-step guide on how to start contributing, but don't be shy to message me if you have any questions :)

It's been more than a year since I dragged my sister and mom to oddly specific places in New York City in order to get these photos. I gained a new appreciation for just how much walking (and/or taking the bus) Rosa must have been doing. And otherwise I would never have visited Grace Church, which is really beautiful inside.

Yu-Gi-Oh, RWBY, Higurashi no naku koro ni, the Blackwell series and Unavowed just hit different, like what if the ghost haunting you becomes your found family
And on one hand you're like "oh god this sucks bc now i have to deal with all supernatural bullshit" but on the other hand "you know, this ain't so bad, i found a friend for life and many other people through them, and now i have a reason to stay and protect them" which 👌👌👌👌

finally played Gemini Rue after loving the Blackwell series, and, like, it wasn't bad but it wasn't great. i really liked the first half, but then it takes a sharp downturn in my opinion. probably didn't help that i just rewatched the matrix movies, which tackle a lot of the same themes but, like, way better?

Short Video Game Reviews: duo of ghostly detective games
Tumblr media
The Blackwell Legacy
What: point-and-click detective adventure, following a young freelance writer in NYC, assigned to write about a college student’s suicide. When a ghost appears and tells her she’s a spirit medium who has to help spirits pass on, and no, he can’t leave--he’s bound to her as a spirit guide--her life gets a lot more complicated and weird.
What can I say, I like me a good point-and-click. Unlike others I’ve played (Nancy Drew, ABC Murders), there weren’t a lot of puzzles in this one; it’s more focused on talking to characters, directing conversations, and connecting information. I liked the story, I liked how we got the history of Rosa and her family revealed, the characters were interesting, and the voice acting was all good. The base story may not be the most original (”person who sees ghosts obligated to help them pass on, has ramifications in person’s own life” is...a lot of different stories in various media), but that’s because hey, clearly a lot of people like it and find that it gives them ideas (or on the non-creator side, want to see another take on the concept).
It can be finished in just a few hours, but I enjoyed the option to replay it with commentary enabled. I appreciate the warning in the game that turning it on would definitely spoil plot points, and I discovered when I enabled it that it also (understandably) interrupts the flow of the story, so doing a second go-round to get all the fun background information and commentary is definitely the way to go.
My version came from: Steam

Blackwell Unbound
What: point-and-click detective adventure, set in 1973 following the aunt of Rosa Blackwell, the protagonist of the previous game.
A prequel to Blackwell Legacy, the setup is similar: Lauren Blackwell, with her spirit guide Joey, goes around trying to help ghosts in New York pass on. No one else can see them, but they can definitely be impacted the the ghosts’ affects on the physical world, so as Joey consistently reminds Lauren, she needs to keep doing her job. Lauren, for her part, seems unenthused--maybe burnt out--but unlike Rosa in the previous game, this Lauren clearly has gotten used to the spirit-medium-with-guide deal, and there’s less backstory or explanation.
After playing this, I’m also definitely going to get the three other games that complete the story/series, because I’m now very invested in the mystery of what’s going on with this family of mediums and their reluctant spirit guide???
Like the previous game, this one is fully voiced, focuses on talking to people and making connections, and also includes a commentary mode that gives you a “behind the scenes” peek at what went into making this game and its choices.
My version came from: Steam
If you’re interested in a game described above, it may also be available in other formats or platforms than what I played. If you liked this post, click my “reviews” or “video games” tags below or search on my blog to find more.
