History of black music genres
Afrobeats is one of the most successful music genres to come out of Africa and its origins come from the West African countries of Ghana and Nigeria.Afrobeats is a blend of traditional Yoruba music with jazz, West African highlife and funk.
Created during the 1920's, the genre would become prominent worldwide around the late 1960's when a man by the name of Fela Kuti, also dubbed as the Father of Afrobeats would become the pioneering figure of the afrobeat genre. Fela Kuti became renowned for his eccentric character, musical talent and involvement in post-colonial African politics.
Afrobeats was so important because it had social and political commentary interwoven between musical components like chanted vocals, complex intersecting rhythms and percussion.Artists such as Fela became renowned with the black struggle around the world because of his confrontational lyrics addressing the political injustice and military corruption of Nigeria. While African governments restructured after decolonisation, Fela urged fellow Africans to become self-reliant and to stand up the unjust power structures.

msblinkbeats For this sixth day of celebration I couldn’t post anything else but this.
There’s no way. 🙌🏾
I’ve been blessed to experience live performances from some of my faves all over the United States and Seoul but THIS is the performance that still gives me goosebumps like I’m hearing it for the first time.
In 2016, @beyonce and @kendricklamar performed FREEDOM live at the @betawards and I can’t listen to the album version anymore. I just can’t.
The ONLY thing that closely impacts me to the core like this despite all the years is my soror @tasiasword’s performance of “Total Praise” in 2009 on @bet. Took me under, boffum 😅
She mothered okay it’s still living in my head rent free

Reposted from @quotethemc Gotta love this shit! Above all else, stay ten toes. Head high and keep your morals in the forefront of every opportunity. Who’s ready for Kings’ Revenge recap? Who’s ready for my next shows? Who’s ready to live out their dreams and walk in their purpose? I do not apologize for the mounds of energy that I have that you haven’t experienced in others nor yourself. I’m aligned and fully believe in myself. I understand that this is jarring to some, but get use to it or move aside because this glow needs to glow. 😤🤴🏾🤴🏾🤴🏾😤 Step in your Godliness! #QuoteTheMC #TheRapOut #RapEfficiently #hiphopclassics #rapgod #rapgods #hiphopartists #blackking #blackkings #blackgod #blackgods #africanspirituality #blackspirituality #blackconsciousness #blackmusic #blackmusicmonth #realhiphop #realhiphopmusic #nychiphop #nyhiphop #nyrap #nycrap #conscioushiphop #hiphopsoul #livehiphop https://www.instagram.com/p/CfmSfk8jh5g/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

msblinkbeats @usher’s discography IS the sexiest song I know 🤷🏽♀️ I know I’m saying plural thangs for singular purposes but I’m speaking facts.
Potential playlist in the IG Story 🎧
So many choices to choose from. I could have picked anything from Barry white, Donna summer, prince for the classic sexy songs or anything from Chris brown, or The Weeknd for modern sexy songs
But these will definitely do
