What in-jokes do they have with each other?

They rate every guy Martha meets and finds cute on a scale “from zero to Marcus”. The scale is NOT scientific, and none of the other girls really understand it. But it’s hilarious.

Are they the “I’ll pay this time if you pay next time”-type friends, or the “I’ll pay for my food and you’ll pay for yours”-type friends?

First option. Fatin always insists to pay for Martha’s drinks though.

Who’s more prone to pranking, or otherwise messing with, the other?

Martha, actually :) She’s wickedly sneaky when doing pranks, and a lot of them involve using various animals (mostly insects and the likes) to scare Fatin. She has to be careful, though, because Fatin has no qualms about squashing a spider with a rolled-up Vogue Magazine. Which is not what Martha wants. (What she wants is to add to her collection of videos of Fatin screaming at the top of her lungs because there’s a harmless beetle on her bed. It makes for a great pick-me-up whenever one of the girls is depressed.)

How do they text/message each other? Proper punctuation and capital letters, egregious overuse of emojis, mostly in meme format…?

Oh my God, they are the most CHAOTIC texters, there’s emojis EVERYWHERE, new abbreviations daily, their texts are absolutely unreadable by anyone else. (Even Toni, who’s used to Martha’s style, can’t decipher what the fuck they’re talking about.) They basically have invented a whole new writing system.

Do they exchange jokey birthday presents, or deeply thought-out and meaningful presents? Or both?

Both, but mostly meaningful? Fatin also loves organizing Martha’s birthday parties. She does The Most. Martha is delighted.

They go on a road trip together. Who drives, who picks the music, who’s in charge of snacks?

Martha drives - she, gently, leaves No Room for argument. Fatin is in charge of the music - which works great, they like the same stuff. They’re both in charge of snacks - lots of chocolate, lots of juice.

What do they think of each other’s family?

Fatin adores Martha’s family, and is, weirdly, a little scared of Martha’s mom, in the “I never want her to be disappointed in me” kind of way. Martha is very impressed with Fatin’s parents at first - they’re so elegant and stylish!-, not so much when she learns the whole story. She loves Fatin’s little brothers though, and they love her too :)

Do they have any nicknames for each other?

Fatin has a million pet names for Martha. I don’t think Martha has any for Fatin, however.

Who’d be the first to try and patch things up if they had a fight?

Honestly... they rarely get into fights. But when they do, Fatin tries to patch things up first. There’s nothing worse than knowing that Martha is mad at you.

One of their phones goes off in the middle of the night. Who’s calling whom, and why?

Fatin actually calls Martha when she gets sad in the middle of a party, and she doesn’t want to bother Dot and Leah, or they’re not available, or she’s feeling self-conscious and needs Martha’s specific energy.

What’s their favourite funny story about something that happened to the two of them?

Getting high on the beach for sure.

Would they do a joint cosplay? If so, who would they dress up as?

Oh, they would. For Halloween, they dress up as a devil and an angel. Martha is the devil. Fatin is a very sexy, probably not Bible-accurate angel.

Do they have any TV shows that they watch together? Are there any shows they have wildly different opinions on?

So many shows! A lot of reality TV, first of all. Martha also gets Fatin to watch the entirety of Pretty Little Liars, Fatin is. Obsessed. And furious about it. She rants about the outfits constantly.

Which one is the “fight me” friend and which one is the one who tries to keep the peace and prevent their friend from punching a total stranger?

Fatin is the “fight me” friend. Martha tries to keep the peace.

One of them comes up with an ill-advised but mostly harmless idea. Does the other one egg them on because they think it’ll be funny, or try and talk them out of it?

In both cases, they’d try to talk the other out of it.

Who would win if they arm-wrestled?

Martha.

Who’s better at what type of video games, and how competitive are they when they play together?

Martha is leagues better than Fatin. They aren’t very competitive with each other, but if they are together in a team against some of the other girls they get HYPED UP and WILL destroy their competition.

One of them ends up in hospital for something serious but not life-threatening. What does the other bring along when they visit in order to cheer them up?

Martha brings homemade food that she cooked with her mom, UNO, Fatin’s emotional support makeup case, and has all the girls send a heartfelt card for Fatin. Also, a vibrator, which prompts Fatin to propose on the spot. (She may have been a bit delirious from fever, but still.)

How huggy are they?

It’s interesting, they’re very huggy with their respective people (Toni, Leah), but I’m not sure they hug each other all that much? They do physical affection, but maybe not via hugs? Like, Fatin will put her arms around Martha’s shoulders, and they’ll sit together with their knees touching, and they’ll touch each other’s hair and face, and hold hands. Not that many hugs though.

What was the moment when they first realised that they’d become friends?

They start bonding pretty early on the island, but probably that one moment where Martha asks if she’ll have Romeos in her DMs too, and Fatin’s like MARTHA ANGEL YES OF COURSE <3

Notes: When I saw the prompt for today, I immediately thought: domestic fluff about them getting a pet. And for whatever reason, I approached it with inspiration from a meme. Somehow it actually turned into a thing with plot. Who would have guessed. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this one too!

Nagisa has been dropping hints that he wants a pet.

“Rei-chan,” he says, leaning his head against Rei’s shoulder. “Can we get a pet?”

“No,” Rei answers tiredly, dropping his head on top of Nagisa’s.

The conversation goes the same way every time, no matter how Nagisa phrases it. Honestly, Nagisa doesn’t know why Rei is so against the idea. They’ve been in a relationship for long enough that they know they’re not splitting up any time soon, especially since they’ve only just moved into their new flat where the landlord just so happens to allow pets of any size.

(“Well, maybe not a horse,” the landlord had joked when he told them this, during their viewing of the flat. “But big dogs are fine!”)

Their flat is surprisingly spacious, and Nagisa already knows where he would put a dog’s bed: in the living room, near the radiator where it’s warmest, not too far from the sofa and the door leading to their bedroom. Of course, if the dog would rather sleep on the sofa or the bed, Nagisa would be happy to make room, though he’s not sure Rei would be too fond of the idea.

If Rei would rather have a cat, Nagisa would be pleased enough with that too. Cats are easier to look after, since their require less constant attention, but they do make a mess. He can only imagine Rei’s rage if he came in after work one day to find the wallpaper shredded to pieces. “There goes our deposit,” he would say after calming down. “All thanks to the cat’s claws.”

Something smaller might be safer; a hamster, or a rabbit, or fish, like the ones Makoto has from years ago which have somehow stayed alive far longer than they expected them to. Maybe he should ask Momo for tips on keeping stag beetles.

Still, no matter what, his heart goes back to the idea of having their very own dog. It would be a small or medium breed, to make life easier for both of them. An easy-to-train dog would be nice, too - a labrador or a spaniel, something which wouldn’t be too much trouble but would still be playful at times. Perhaps its his own childhood memories which make him so fond of the idea of having another dog; his old family dog Dick, and the stray which Haru found in his first year of middle school, Makkou, were both highlights of his childhood.

One day he tells Rei about those dogs, remembering that he wasn’t around during those times. Rei listens as well as he always does, engaging with nods of his head and hums of attention. Once the conversation passes, Rei speaks.

“We can’t get a dog, though.”

Nagisa sighs. Well, at least he tried.

On one of his rare days off where he doesn’t have work to do at home, Nagisa spends the day on his computer, playing The Sims. He’s had his copy of the game for years, so the graphics are outdated and every so often the game will crash without warning. Still, he loves it to pieces.

He starts a new household, creating Sims of himself and Rei, living together in a beautiful house constructed and decorated by Nagisa. (No, he totally didn’t use the ‘motherlode’ cheat to get the money, he would never do something like that…) Once the humans and their home are created, he adds a new character to their family - a small white dog, which he creatively names Iwa-chan, in memory of their high school roots. By the time Rei comes home, the Sim humans have been playing with their new pet for five in-game days, and it’s already fully trained. In their real-life kitchen, food sits out on the counter, half-prepared.

Rei kisses the top of Nagisa’s hair as he passes. “Thanks for starting dinner.”

“No problem!” Nagisa leans his head back so he can see his boyfriend, grinning at the sight of him. “I’ll finish making it now. And welcome home.”

Smiling gently, Rei brushes his thumb against Nagisa’s cheek. Nagisa closes his eyes at the warm touch.

“What are you doing?” Rei asks after a long moment of silence, his hand falling to Nagisa’s shoulder.

Nagisa moves his head to look at the computer, where his Sims are walking their dog in the park. “I made us in The Sims!”

Rei’s mouth forms an ‘o’ shape, and he watches as the little white dog runs back to its owners from where it had been sniffing a nearby plant. “And you gave us a dog?”

“Yeah! Y’know, since you said we can’t have one in real life.”

Part of him hopes desperately that Rei will feel a hint of pity, change his mind and tell Nagisa that actually, they can get a dog, that would be a wonderful idea. Except his lovely, caring boyfriend only kisses his cheek, warm and slow and sad.

“I’m sorry, Nagisa-kun,” he says. “You know it’s for the best, right?”

Nagisa nods, and they drop the subject. He tries not to let his sadness leak into their food as he finishes cooking it.

Sometimes, Nagisa finds himself searching for images of dogs and just browsing through them for hours on end, checking the tags on every social media to see people’s latest portrayals of their four-legged companions. It somewhat staves his own longing for a pet, to live vicariously through the pictures of pugs falling off pillows and videos of huskies howling along to their human’s voice.

A few weeks after the Sims episode, Nagisa phones Haru.

“Whatever happened to Makkou?” he asks.

“I’m not sure,” Haru responds, his monotone voice barely betraying a hint of sadness. “He went out one day and didn’t come back.”

Nagisa supposes it was bound to happen - there wasn’t anything tying the stray to the homemade dog-house in Haru’s garden. Still, it breaks his heart a little to hear it.

Haru sends him the few pictures of Makkou which were taken when he was still around, and Nagisa tears up as he flicks through them, his smile wobbling with long-late grief. When Rei comes home, he shows them to him without any hidden intentions, telling him stories of their swim-club adventures as best he can. Rei doesn’t seem to suspect anything either - he only winds an arm around Nagisa’s waist, pulling him in to his chest as a final tear slips out as they reach the bottom of the pile once more.

“I have the day off tomorrow,” Rei says after a little while, his thumb drawing circles on Nagisa’s hip. “But I’m going to go for groceries. I can pick you up from work, if you like.”

Tilting his chin upward, Nagisa presses a sweet kiss to Rei’s lips. “Thanks, Rei-chan. You’re the best.”

When Rei picks Nagisa up from work, the back seat of their car is lined with shopping bags. He doesn’t get much of a chance to look at them, though, since Rei regains his attention by speaking.

“So, how was your day?”

They spend a while chatting about how Nagisa’s second year history class is struggling with their grades, how he’s a little worried that some of them might fail the upcoming midterm. Sure, the kids are only in middle-school, but Nagisa doesn’t want them to feel the same stress and unhappiness which plagued him in that time of his life. They talk about that one kid who acts very much like Rin, bold and brash and insufferable but charming all the same. Nagisa is in the middle of telling Rei about how, just that day, he found out that that boy swims too, when he realises that Rei is not driving in the direction of their flat.

“Where are we going?” he asks, cutting himself off in the middle of his story.

Rei doesn’t miss a beat. “Oh, I forgot to pick something up, earlier. So he swims, too? That’s great.”

(But Rei never forgets things when he’s shopping; he makes lists as tall as Mt Fuji detailing every little thing he needs to buy, and does it in the most logical order possible. It’s because of his insistence on using a list that the two of them rarely buy groceries together, since Nagisa is the type to throw everything into the cart, regardless of whether they need it or not.)

Still, only a tad suspicious, Nagisa continues his story where he left off.

Ten minutes pass until they reach the outskirts of the town, where the houses are sparse and green fields line the sunset horizon. Each house is more a cottage, with colourful flower gardens and swing-sets for the children. Rei parks in the driveway of one such house, and Nagisa racks his memory to see if he has any recollection of who it might belong to.

Nope, he has no idea.

“We’re here,” Rei says, getting out of the car. He walks over to Nagisa’s side and opens the door for him, taking his hand once he gets out and leading him towards the door.

“Where is here?” Nagisa asks.

Rei only smiles before knocking upon the door.

The distant sound of barking reaches Nagisa’s ears, and he freezes.

When he turns to Rei, the smile he wears is enough to confirm it.

“Rei-chan, I love you!” Nagisa cries as he throws his arms around his boyfriend, squeezing him tightly. “I can’t believe this, you’re the best boyfriend ever! Thank you!”

“You’re welcome,” Rei says, patting his back. “Now come on, we need to choose one.”

They separate to find the lady who owns the house smiling warmly at them, welcoming them inside, to where the sounds of eager barking and paws scrabbling across carpets are like the sweetest music. Nagisa takes a breath in, and grins.

Somehow, despite every odd being against him, his hinting worked. They are getting a pet.

Last Thing You Googled: Lordy as it is Easter Saturday was at my brothers place for Easter lunch and so haven’t really been online today but I think the last thing I googled was Feud: Bette and Joan, about their feud in Hollywood soooo good. What Did Your Last Relationship Teach You: Never been in one came close but I didn’t want to ruin my friendship with at the time one of my best friends and it was her brother and as another friend was dating him that friendship soured and I was like I can’t do that to her so yeah nothing came of it. So currently single and bloody getting nagged by relos because I should be the next married by their charts and popping out kids! Religious Or Spiritual: This is a toughie as I was raised Catholic but haven’t been to church in like 4 or 5 years so yeah a bit of both but so loose and not strict in anyway. Favourite Colour: Dark Blue like Royal Blue and a British racing Green and Dark Forest Green. Average Hours Of Sleep: Bahhaa I don’t know sometimes I think I sleep 8hrs but It could be more like 7 or 6. Depends as I suffer from Sinuses which makes me not sleep as well and also when I get the flu or cold I sleep even less with the coughing and the breathing, and all that yucky stuff. How to Socialize a Dog with Humans: Even the Timid Pooch Can Do It!

Socialization is a lot more complicated than it sounds, especially when it comes to how to socialize your dog (or even your puppy) with humans.

People even misunderstand it when it comes to socializing your dog or even socializing your pup with other dogs.

Inadvertently, and due to ignorance dog owners often create problems of “wild dogs” and reactivity, especially when our puppies or dogs are around other dogs and people are around.

This reactivity can lead to over excited but happy dogs, or it can actually lead to the opposite which is over excited and aggressive dogs.

Essentially, the goal is to avoid this reactivity and over excitement all together and train a dog that can control himself in all kinds of social situations without getting over excited and losing his mind.

Let me be clear early on; being over excited and friendly is almost as bad as being over excited and aggressive. Sure aggressive dogs are worse and looked at more harshly, but an over excited young dog or pup can be nearly as dangerous.

Why?

Because when a dog is over excited he is not mentally in control of his mental faculties. A dog like this is more likely to jump, scratch, paw, nip or even bite. I always like human analogies, because I think it helps people to better understand our canine friends when we put it into focus with us humans. Have you ever met your hero, your idol? That person you looked up to and wanted to emulate when you were a child or a teenager? Mine was Joe Montana of the San Francisco 49ers and I remember how excited I was when I met him. I was barely capable of forming words and not drooling on myself and I was probably 25 at the time!

I also think of the crowds of bawling and crying girls they would show footage of when the Beetles would come to play their music in their towns.

These people, and myself weren’t exactly in control of their thought processes and mental faculties because they were TOO EXCITED! Some of the women at Beetles concerts even passed out!

Although having an “idol” and avidly following a celebrity or someone’s career is a distinctly human attribute (or problem, you decide) I feel like dogs can suffer from the same mental disconnected excitement, frustration, and sometimes aggression (when we allow it).

Just yesterday I read a meme (I am a horrible Facebook addict on occasion due to the humor involved).

Let me share it with you!

How many wolves go around visiting other wolf packs? Wolves being wild animals.

How many lions go around visiting other prides? Lions being wild animals.

How many horses go around visiting other herds? Wild or domesticated horses.

They don’t because they’ll get killed. They don’t because that is not their family.

So you don’t need to expect your dog to go and say “hi” to other dogs and people. They are not part of your family.

Teaching your dog to ignore other people and dogs is actually far healthier mentally and physically. Teaching your dog that other dogs are “none of their business” results in far fewer issues.

Your dog won’t become reactive because they don’t have to feel stressed about interacting with strange dogs and people.

He won’t feel like he needs to become aggressive or protective he can even learn to ignore aggressive dogs and aggressive behavior from other dogs and animals.

And, your dog will behave a lot better!

I have said it before and I will say it again, taking your dog to the dog park and letting him run amuck for hours at a time is not “socialization” (especially if he is aggressive). It is a dangerous way for young puppies, and even adult dogs. Many times, people bring non-socialized and aggressive dogs to dog parks for “socialization”. This is no way to achieve socialization with your adult dog or pup. This is especially not safe because people with aggressive dogs have a hard time understanding this fact. Socialized dogs are the only dogs that should be at dog parks.

I often hear “My dog is good with MOST dogs at the dog park but attacks others”. Or he is not an aggressive dog at a daycare or boarding facility.

This may well be true of daycare and boarding facilities because they often have puppy socialization classes, puppy classes or screen dogs for certain play groups. As you can imagine, you wouldn’t put an 11 year old geriatric, dysplastic Poodle with a nine month old wild Goldendoodle puppy!

Most daycare and boarding facilities match young puppies of like size with young puppies of like size and match the dog’s behavior with like dog behavior. After all, daycare facilities and boarding facilities stand to lose money when dogs attack each other. I still prefer dog boarding and dog daycare facilities with cameras so that you can see your dog play; because I have found out the hard way that some of these facilities lie about dog socialization abilities because they don’t want to lose a client. Puppy classes and puppy socialization classes can also be great places to learn to socialize your dog appropriately.

Always be cautious.

Dog parks can be scary places because no one is setting up these or any rules. To the owners that say their dogs can socialize with some but not others I empathize. I don’t want to socialize with all people either, but some dogs are bullies and fight when they meet other bullies.

Imagine going to Wal-Mart and having someone bully you or punch you in the face every now and again. How would you feel about going to Wal-Mart? I bet you might feel reactive, apprehensive, or even aggressive.

I recommend avoiding dog parks because no one is in charge and I can’t control what happens with my dog or his sociability.

At the very least, running with no rules among other dogs ruins your dog’s impulse control and ability to be able to control himself when seeing dogs and people in other areas.

After all, he is not learning the composure he needs in order to socialize kindly and effectively, he is instead doing whatever he wants whenever he wants, with “reckless abandon.

I liken this to my friends’ parties vs. my work parties. I may drink a little more, tell a little more dirty jokes, and play more adult type word games at my friends’ parties. I have common sense at my work parties and maybe have one drink to be social and try and keep things professional no matter where we are… after all, I want a job to return to on Monday.

Dogs, however, don’t have common sense… he is that wild dog that learned poor social skills wherever he goes!

Safe Human Socialization

Human socialization is a lot like dog to dog socialization! Reckless abandon and no rules is not the safe way to go about it. Obedience is my first rule for socialization!

So that makes young puppy socialization difficult if not impossible, right? Actually, nothing is further from the truth! Puppies can learn that good social skills come with good impulse control and obedience. After all, I don’t want my Cane Corso puppy to learn to excitedly jump on new people he meets; this could eventually injure another dog owner or person.

And, the rules should be the same for a Great Dane as they are for a Toy Poodle; good social skills and appropriate greetings are a must for any good canine companion and good puppy socialization!

Hang the Moon for your Dog

You’ll have to forgive me, I am from Wyoming and we have some fun old cowboy statements like “cowboy up” or “hung the moon” . I think “cowboy up” is pretty obvious, it means grow up and deal with it. But when you think the absolute best of someone, when you think they are pretty perfect; it is said that you think they “hung the moon”.

I need my dog to think I am this person. Sure, he or she is going to like or love me… but I almost want them “stalker like” obsessed with me when we are together (this is not healthy when we are not because he also needs independence so that he doesn’t develop separation anxiety)!

Let me explain…

I have to confess, I am not the best thing on earth; cats are better than me, other dogs are better than me, heck dead squirrels are probably better than me! But I don’t want my dog to discover that about other people, dogs, dead squirrels or the like.

In order to effectively be in control of his behavior effectively, he has to think that I have and control the best things in his life! If he thinks anyone else or anything else is better, they have more power

Give Other People Treats

One of the big pieces of advice that we give to new puppy owners is to give other people treats to give them. This is one of those double edged swords like take on rewarding your puppy with food when you are potty training. It can have a negative effect; but it is still a good idea. Let me explain, again.

YOU should be in control of the best treats, you should give other people mediocre treats like generic dog biscuits to give my dog upon meeting.

I teach puppy classes, on a fairly regular basis.

The puppies in my classes think “I hung the moon”. They worship my arrival. They squeal, they jump toward me and some of them want to jump into my van and leave to live with me. One of the first things I start out saying on week three, “Your puppies love me! They think I am the best thing on earth; which is okay because that is why you pay me the big bucks… but make sure that it is YOU that become the best thing on earth or he/she will great everyone this way!”

Let’s face it, as a dog or puppy trainer during puppy classes or socialization classes, I get jumped on, a lot! It isn’t a huge deal as long as the dog owner recognizes the problem and puts forth effort to change it and gain their dog’s attention and adoration.

You see, if your young puppy or even adult dog is sitting in front of you for a reward as you greet a new person, he is too preoccupied to jump on people that he is meeting!

I don’t necessarily recommend giving a treat to each new person we meet. I may do it occasionally, but I want my dog to pay more attention to me than to strangers. I want to be in control of his behaviors.

I want him to learn to sit or lie down if he wants to interact socially with someone! If he does that (and he wants to interact or be petted) then that can be the reward as long as he continues to be well behaved.

I have no problems walking a rambunctious young puppy or adult dog away from a social situation. Remember my analogy about my work parties? If you want to socialize your dog, you have appropriate behavior, if you lose your social skills, you lose the ability to socialize until you can compose yourself again. Socializing your dog appropriately can be the reward!

You can also have rewards for paying attention to me and simply showing good behavior like sitting or lying down. This gives your puppy or dog an appropriate alternate behavior to jumping and rambunctious behavior.

What if I Have a Fearful Puppy?

This is really important if you have a fearful puppy; obedience is your best friend, to both of you!! The more your dog or puppy can do, the more he can feel independent and confident and the less he feels like he needs to be reactive or aggressive or show aggressive defense mechanisms (growling, barking, hackling) and other signs of fear or fearful behavior.

Build his confidence, don’t take it!

Sooooo many dog owners with good intentions think that the right thing to do is to hand the puppy off to the stranger or force interaction.

This is THE WORST thing that you can do for a puppy with fear issues. You are teaching him that you cannot be trusted.

In order to build his confidence, he must trust you. If you take that trust and force him to be fearful and defend himself, you have no idea how he will adjust at that moment and during later interactions. He might decide the socialize and interact and learn that nothing bad happened, OR he might resort to fear aggression the next time he is forced to interact with strangers when he is feeling scared. WE as humans or dog owners cannot force a dog into a certain feeling that we want them to feel, we can only help to set them up for success by teaching them confidence and letting them work out situations through a trusting relationship with you.

Imagine that you are going into a bad neighborhood. Alone you are nervous, a little reactive, and worried something bad will happen. If it does, you are alone and can only use what you have on yourself to defend yourself.

Now imagine that you are driving through the same neighborhood but you are riding with 3 US Marines or police officers that are friends and that you trust. Would you feel more comfortable? More confident? Less worried even if something did scare you?

Chances are the answer is a resounding YES.

The whole point is that friendship and level of trust. I am more confident when I have a friend that I trust with me. I know that this friend “has my back” and won’t let anything bad happen to me. These are the friends that I want in my circle. We have all had friends who let us down, or disappoint us or make poor choices when it comes to friendship; and we learn that we can’t trust these people. You may still be friends with them, but you don’t trust them with your secrets or in times of need.

Be that loyal “friend” or dog owner for your dog! Make sure that your dog or puppy has complete trust in you. Don’t break his trust in you by forcing him to do something that he is clearly indicating is making him feel uncomfortable.

I have, indeed, told people and children that they could not pet my dog or my puppy, when the dog or puppy was clearly indicating that he is uncomfortable. I will hurt human feelings before I risk the trust of my dog or put someone at risk for aggression or a bite.

Be smart when it comes to socializing a puppy or an adult dog! Remember your dog is ultimately an animal, he isn’t human and we can’t change his feelings except to arm him with training and confidence. Socialize slowly and at his level, don’t push him or lose his trust! And, as always make sure that it is fun!

Ice’s Annual Post for 2018

So here is my annual post of everything that I did over the course of 2018. Now one major change in this post from last year and the year before is that, I only updated this post at the end of the month instead of gradually as these events occurred. Which means that some events that may have happened at the end of the month are among the first on the list, so basically it’s all scrambled.

Now I know with certainty that each of these events happened in the corresponding month, as I otherwise didn’t even post it so I believe for next year (if I’m still on Tumblr) I won’t do that again and go back to updating these in chronological order.

Without further ado, here’s the list!

January:

Purchased a few games on Steam for the Winter Sale

Played through Season 8 of Overwatch

Signed up for a Payment plan for my college

Watched Moana for the 1st time

Ordered a tax return transcript with my dad’s help

Played Go fish with Uno Cards for the 1st time

Tried homemade coleslaw for the 1st time

Started University at a 4 year college for the 1st time

Got my Certificate from my tech college in the mail

My sister got a new car: A 2006 Volkswagen Beetle/bug? idk

I renewed my driver’s license

I now have a regular license instead of a probationary one

Got my liquor licence for my job

Got a car wash for the 1st time this year

I got a new purse and knee length boots as an early birthday present

February

Had really bad insomnia on the morning of my birthday

Officially end my teenage years

Got a fuck ton of gift cards on my birthday!

Joined my 1st club at campus

Played What do you Meme for the 1st time

Found out that I’m suffering from chronic stress

Went to IT on campus and finally got access to the computers there

Had my history class cancel twice in two weeks

FINALLY WENT TO THE DOCTOR FOR MY HANDS THANK GOD!

Got diagnosed with eczema and got cream for it

Watched some of the Winter Olympics

Hands are finally improving after 11 months of dry bleeding hands

Started watching Yugioh for the 1st time

Downloaded Yugioh Duel Links on my phone

Began sinking into Yugioh hell

Played Scribblenauts for the 1st time (check name later)

Went to a Study Abroad fair on Campus

Went to Olive Garden for a late birthday dinner

Tried Calamari for the 1st time

Discovered that I may be able to drop out of my math class

Wrote a poem for the 1st time in a long time

Changed my phone homescreen

Made some homemade essential oils for the 1st time

March

Watched the live action Fullmetal Alchemist movie

Found out my dad got a Sheltie puppy for his birthday

Dropped out of remedial math after passing the placement exam

Met with my advisor for Fall Semester classes

Got free pizza from some business at work kinda randomly

Played and beat Life is Strange Before the Storm

Stressed about Midterms

Watched Black Panther in theaters

Took the midterms for the 1st time since AP Bio in high school

Spent most of my Spring Break working

Bought a Sudoku book for myself just because

Used my job’s carwash for the 1st time

Got an Ultimate Car wash for the 1st time

Played Brigitte on Overwatch for the 1st time

Played The Moon Sliver for the 1st time

April

Got some candy for Easter/April Fool’s Day

Played through Season 9 of Overwatch Comp

Watched Spiderman: Homecoming

Bought a faux leather body con dress for the 1st time

Bought makeup for the 1st time

Finally got to go to prom: Queer Prom!

Finally got the chance to wear my prom dress

Attempted to play Rise of the Tomb Raider...my computer can’t run it without horrible frame drops....

Started playing Dragon Age Origins: Ultimate Edition

Got Yugioh Duel Links on Steam

Got the okay to to buy a Playstation 4 after the semester is over

Worked with two minors in a row at my job

Had to go to work and prom in a fucking blizzard in the middle of April...

My gas station closed the north station for the first time since I worked there due to said blizzard

Watched the 636th episode of The Simpsons

Wore lipstick in public for the 1st time

Played through the first few minutes of Realmyst: Masterpiece Edition

Started hearing wedding plans for my dad and stepmom

My dad got surgery for his hernia, was successful

May

Went to see Infinity War in Theaters

Was elected into council for the LGBT+ club I’m in on campus

Saw the new Steven Universe episodes

Bought Tongue in Cheek, I suppose is my 1st NSFW purchase ever

Also bought pasties for the first time

Worried about finals and took my finals

Passed all of my finals (A, A- and a B+ to be exact)

Started my Interim course about Modern American history

Got straight A’s in the 2 exams for that class that were in May

Purchased a Playstation 4 Slim and 4 PS4 games

Car battery died on campus so I was stranded there for 2 hours

Got my haircut at a salon for the 1st time in a long while

Bought a funeral dress and attended a funeral for my mom’s boyfriend’s mother

Someone left an old box TV at the car wash at work. That was interesting

My sister fainted at a baseball stadium while singing the national anthem and had to be hospitalized for dehydration, she later was released a few hours later

Went to that same sister’s high school’s graduation a few days later

Went to see Deadpool 2 in Theaters

Returned the 1st set of my textbooks that I rented

Found out what role I’m going to have in my father’s wedding

June

Kinda forgot about June oh shit

Took my last exam of my spring semester

Passed with straight A’s in my Interim class

Rewarded myself by hooking up my brand new Playstation 4

Finally got to play Until Dawn, ended up killing Emily and Sam

Started playing Rise of the Tomb Raider on PS4

Played Overwatch on PS4 for the 1st time

Got invited and later attended grad party for friend from high school

Spent most of June either playing PS4 or going to work

Started working on weekdays again for the 1st time since January

Introduced Steven Universe to my step-siblings, currently watching Season 1

Made dinner for my step-family for the 1st time, a chicken alfredo recipe from Tasty

Bought fireworks for the 1st time by myself

My mom’s boyfriend got a new puppy, Bella, without telling anyone

Played Gone Home on PC for the 1st time

Bought about 70 dollars worth of games during Steam’s Summer sale

Also bought a few games on PS4 during E3 sale

Watched Below her Mouth for the 1st time

Saw Deadpool 2 again, this time with my mom who wanted to see it

May or may not have started writing fanfiction again during this month

July

Ordered my textbooks

Started reading the Umineko no Naku Koro ni Question Arcs

Finished the 1st Question Arc and started the 2nd one

My dad’s dog got fixed in late July, went perfectly

Dentist appointment at end of the month

9 minutes late to work due to traffic

Went up north for a weekend

WENT TUBING FOR THE 1ST TIME IN 6 YEARS THIS IS A BIG DEAL! (am afraid of tubing on the water due to childhood trauma so this was huge for me)

Got to see my dog go swimming, she’s so good on the boat!

Watched the Steven Universe Heart of the Crystal Gems Bomb OMG

Saw White Diamond’s reveal

Commuted to Kitsune Kon 2018

Bought a whole bunch of posters

Finally bought a copy of Death Note Mafia after 5+ years

Went to the Ramen eating contest there

Bought a whole bunch of food for my step-siblings

August

Not much happened in August tbh

Finished the Umineko 2nd Question Arc

Went to work....uh yeah

My cat had a bladder infection and I thought he was going to die...scariest 4 days of the year

He recovered thank goodness

Went school supply shopping

Got a new backpack for the 1st time since junior year of high school

Received my new textbooks for the semester

Tried Chocolate Molten Lava and Pumpkin Spice lattes from Starbucks for the 1st time

Met with the council members of the LGBT+ club I’m in for the 1st time

Played through Undertale’s Neutral and True Pacifist Routes

Got an account on Chess.com for some reason

Went to see The Meg in theatres, loved it!

September

Went back to college/classes

Tried aligot for the first time

Also tried artichoke hearts for the 1st time

Got a tattoo appointment

Got my very first tattoo (to cover up a scar wound)

Had to wear a bandage on my left hand for 5 days due to said tattoo

Visited my campus’s LGBT Resource center for the 1st time

Started browsing for next semester’s classes

Started learning Japanese in an actual classroom for a change

I went from knowing zero hiragana/katakana to memorizing all hiragana and some katakana in one month!

Taking math hopefully for the last time

Got back into playing Rise of the Tomb Raider since July

October

Midterms in October....

Got a C+ on my math class but since I suck at math that’s okay with me

Everything else got A’s on

October kind of went in the blink of an eye

Signed up for classes next semester

Wore a leather dress for Halloween just because I wanted to wear leather

Met with a faculty advisor

Had a Japanese Midterm that I did super well on! A+

Bought Hitman 2016 and played it for the 1st time

Bought Oxenfree which I’d been meaning to do for a while

Got a new umbrella from my mom

Discovered a Steven Universe White Diamond AU Blog

November

Donated to a Patreon for the 1st time

Finished Rise of the Tomb Raider (finally)

Started and finished playing Beyond Two Souls

Started playing Bloodborne (help me)

Went to a SAFE training session (that I realized halfway through I didn’t really need but got me out of work I guess)

Saw Ralph Breaks the Internet in theaters

Also saw Bohemian Rhapsody in theaters

Didn’t have to work at all on Thanksgiving break

Ate ham for the 1st time on Thanksgiving

Went to a buffet restaurant for Thanksgiving for the 1st time

Had my 1st Japanese Oral examination (passed 96.75%)

My dad and stepmom got a cat, Shadow and then gave him away in less than 2 weeks (still bitter about it)

Had a thanksgiving dinner the Saturday after with my stepmom’s family for the 1st time

Saw She-Ra on Netflix for the 1st time

December

Got a pay raise at work

Went through the hell that was finals

Passed all my classes thankfully (Two B’s, A- and an A)

Finished taking my final math test

Now officially done with math in school!!! (passed with a B)

Got Guess Who and Connect Four for my step-siblings for Christmas

I got my sister a Webkinz retired Pegasus for Christmas, something she wanted since she was a child (really proud of that)

Got Sonic Forces/Mania, Dark Souls Remastered, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Hitman 2, Quantic Dream Collection and for Christmas

Went to see Welcome to Marwen with my grandma for the 1st time

Played Cards Against Humanity with my family for the 1st time (that was an experience)

Also finally got my family to try out Death Note Mafia for the 1st time, which had mixed results but that’s okay :)

Fuel my car with gas went down to under $2 for the 1st time

Finished Umineko’s 3rd question arc (finally) and started the 4th and last one

Started playing Sonic Forces for the 1st time

Got new windshield wipers on my car

Introduced my step-siblings to Tomodachi Life on the 3DS

Skimmed through the raw version of Junjou Romantica Act 48

Played Super Smash Bros Ultimate for the 1st time!
