Jazz is murdered in her Gotham apartment.

Red Hood is chasing the assailant and some bats come to help. Despite their best efforts, the assailant gets away. The bats have him cornered when he runs into the wall. Literally. He doesn’t come out the other side. They search everywhere but the assailant vanished without a trace.

Some weird government guys dressed in all white come and assess the scene. They are very official. Practically interrogating the officers on the scene and insisting on talking to the vigilantes who chased the assailant. After gathering all of the information they can, they tell their chief “The woman is dead. No, Phantom is not here. He was never here. No, she doesn’t appear to have become one of them.” They leave a card with GCPD to call in case anything changes. (Hood refers to them as “cryptic fuckers” or “dementor wannabes” from here on out)

Hood is pissed that the murderer got away, that secret government officials encroached on his territory, and that this woman seems to not be getting the justice she deserved. He knows how that feels. Not on his watch.

After Hood knows the autopsy has been completed, (he’s dealt with enough murder cases to gauge when it will be complete) he breaks into the morgue to take a look for himself. He opens the door to her slab, rolls her out and gets scared half to death when she thanks him for letting her out. She goes on to say she hasn’t figured out how to go intangible yet but Danny figured it out quick so it’s gotta be somewhat easy. Hood is trying his darnedest to not have a heart attack because she scared the crap outta him.

Meanwhile Danny’s wondering why he hasn’t heard from his sister in a few days.

Derek being a non-tie wearer and Spencer wearing a tie all the time is further proof of my theory that any man who wears a tie just wants to be led around like a dog (consciously or unconsciously)

In this fandom, like in all of them I guess, things are cyclical. Spend enough time hanging around and you'll see topics that make the rounds again and again. Lately I've seen a fresh crop of disbelief surrounding CM character backstory.

As a writer, one of my favorite things is how outlandish CM is. Every character has this huge sweeping history/resume that is completely impossible yet so much fun to dig around in. It's messy and no matter how you try, you can't make it make real world sense. But it doesn't have to! Instead, I implore you to embrace the wacky impossible resumes and timelines. Have fun with the fantasy of the unbelievable. I personally think it's more fun to ask why than how. Why did Morgan go to law school and then decide to be a cop? Why did Hotch go from Federal Prosecutor to FBI? What did Haley think about that choice? What did Morgan do undercover for 18 months? Does he have any CIs out there? Does he have people who still recognize him as someone else? The answers to those questions are a lot more fun to explore than how, because the pursuit of how is likely to drive you bonkers.

Derek not knowing her name when she's first working in the bau even though he was there when she was first hired ??? To further that Spencer with his eidetic memory also didn't remember her name?? Which led to Derek calling her baby girl for the first time

WHERE THE FUCK DOES HER LAST NAME COME FROM !!?? Earlier seasons she says it's from her foster family who took her in. She even says it to Luke when he goes "so Garcia that come from the long line of white blonde Garcia's I don't know?" And she retorts with "actually it's from the very nice family who took me in after my parents died when I was a teenager"

BUT THEN LATER ON IN AN EPISODE ABOUT HER PARENTS they tell us that Garcia is her stepdads name like which one is it!!???

Morgan stares at the screen, rage boiling hot and furious in his stomach at the sight of the person he considers his little brother being treated like he’s evil. Like he’s nothing more than a piece of meat. Tortured, drugged, dying. There’s a long list of people Morgan despises in this world. There’s a long list of people he would like nothing more than to kill. Right now, Tobias Hankel trumps every single one of them. He balls his hands into tight fists, digging his nails into his palms to stop himself from punching the screen. 

I’ll get him for you kid, he repeats to himself over and over. I’ll kill him. 

Emily stares at the screen in horror. She hasn’t known Spencer for long, but she’s always been good at making friends fast. Moving around will do that to you. She knows she’s not quite part of this strange family yet - on the outskirts, perhaps - but seeing Spencer in such pain makes her ache. He doesn’t deserve this. She stays glued to the screen, searching every inch of it for something, anything, that could help them figure out where he is and how to save him. 

I’m hunting, Reid, she repeats to herself over and over. I’m searching for you.

Gideon stares at the screen, numb with shock. This is his fault. He has prepared this kid - that’s all he is, a kid - for this job for the last several years, but he could never have prepared Spencer for this. This is all his fault. There’s only one thing he can do now: get Reid the hell out of there. He turns away from the screen, shaking himself out of his stupor. 

I’m coming for you, Spencer, he repeats to himself over and over. I’ll get you out of there. 

Penelope stares at the screen, tears streaming down her face. Her sweet friend - her first friend in the FBI - her first friend since her parents' deaths - trapped. Tortured. Broken and bruised. She feels utterly helpless, despite the fact she hasn’t stopped working since Spencer was taken. All she wants is to gather him in her arms and never let him go. 

I’m right here with you, boy genius, she repeats to herself over and over. It’s going to be okay, sweetheart. 

Hotch stares at the screen, unable to breathe deep enough to gather enough air in his lungs. It wasn’t until this moment he realized just how much his youngest agent means to him. He doesn’t think he’ll ever forgive himself if Reid doesn’t make it out of this alive. But despite Spencer’s difficulties in the field, despite his awkwardness and vulnerability, Hotch reminds himself: Reid is strong. Much stronger than anyone ever gives him credit for. 

I’m rooting for you, Reid, he repeats to himself over and over again. You’re going to get through this. 

JJ can’t look at the screen. 

I’m so sorry, Spence, she repeats to herself, over and over. It could just as easily have been me. 

It should have been me. 

What if they try to keep Spencer coming back as a secret so in episode one all the BAU members are in the meeting room stumped “what the hell is Gold Star???” Then Spencer walks in “I know what it is.” Rossi: HOW????? I actually want to know how you know when you’ve been gone for month’s!
