i just dont really understand why theyd target les mis? and like. its interrupting the work of actors and crew and house staff who dont have anything to do with fossil fuel corps. people who just paid to see the show who dont have anything to do with it.
i understand les mis is a show about rebellion and humanity but to me it doesnt make any sense.
( i say this as someone whos probably very unaware and very slow to realize the deeper meaning of things so i apologize if it comes off snobby i am just confused !! /genuine )
I'm very sorry if this comes off as rude but like.... "I don't understand why people would use Les Mis as the symbolic centerpiece of an act of protest/rebellion against the government" is just a very strange thing to say, and I'm genuinely not quite sure how to begin to respond XD. Like....it's literally Les Mis. It is Do You Hear the People Sing. The original novel was written to be a political rallying cry, it was written to bind together activists, and it has been used that way thousands of times since its publication in 1862. It's Les Mis, I don't know what else to tell you XD.
Also I know this next comparison isn't perfect, but:

Okay, yeah, I get the funeral is ‘symbolically significant.’ I get that Lamarque has become, in popular culture, a symbol of rebellion and resistance against a government’s unfair policies. I get Lamarque’s funeral is a pretty big public event that has a lot of symbolic significance ties to ideas of rebellion against the state.
I get that Lamarque’s words are often seen as a rebellious call to action, so illegally interrupting his funeral could be a statement about resisting tyranny. It could be a call to action playing off the popularity and symbolic role that Lamarque has in the public consciousness.
But at the same time— shouldn’t Les Amis have just gone to the palace and attacked the king directly? Why disrupt this symbolic event instead? They’re not really going after the people responsible!
After all, there were so many people there who just wanted a normal day. They weren’t responsible for what the government was doing and had nothing to do with it. They wanted to see the procession, to hear Lafayette’s speech and grieve a political figure they cared for. They wanted to hear people praise ‘resistance’ in the abstract, without actually doing it.
Weren’t Les Amis disrupting that?
Aren’t Les Amis bad activists? Isn’t disrupting people’s everyday lives for the sake of 'activism' always inherently a bad thing? I’m not against activism, but isn’t doing that kind of disruptive activism rude? Isn’t disrupting the lives of ordinary people just doing their jobs or going out for a special event evil— no matter why you’re doing it, or what your goals are, or whether the government actually is doing something vile that we should start to stage great events rallying against?
Even if this Lamarque's funeral has special significance because of its symbolic pop cultural ties to rebellion against tyranny—shouldn’t they have just avoided rudely interrupting some regular people’s everyday lives?
Protests shouldn’t disrupt things. they should be big parades that don’t make anyone uncomfortable, don’t interrupt anything, and don’t disrupt any aspects of ‘normal people’s daily life.’ No one should ever target symbolic events— like a funeral for a political figure or a musical about revolution— to make a political statement. Protests should be little quiet festivals that cause absolutely no interruption in everyday life so that we can all just safely ignore them, until the climate catastrophe they’re warning us about arrives.”

#i think about it literally daily and its no good because im the only one who is obsessed with our characters and campaigns#one of my characters has literally made a life vow to someone else's. and im suppsoed to be. normal about it#NOT EVEN IN A ROMANTIC WAY MIND YOU. they literally have not known each other for that long but like#okay so my character (calli) is essentially a 'guard'/knight of a fey court . and the other character (donovan) was a lost child#and now he is just. traumatized by the feywild . you know.#and calli has long been disillusioned by her home and what shes there for (one of the reasons why she left) so hearing his story. well#and then she wa slike okay well i will try to amend this . what would you have me do#and he was like 'can u sign this vow. it might take our entire lives im sorry to ask this of you'#and calli could have been like no. but like. well you show her a little pathos and she'll do whatever#and it was a good vow to make that totally wont have repercussions later#so they signed it and did a little knighting#and . this is smth that we didnt hit upon. but donovan was fairly settled after this. but calli probably did not feel peace after that#though in the next session it was like. donovan was doing much better than he had been doing in the previous sessions#and she was very glad of that#anyway

little rant type shit about azzi and paiges current and kinda future media presences
i think azzis reposts are like her way of letting people know shes gonan be okay without having to be actually present and ibteractive on socials. she was literallt just comibg back from her drought/break/pause (wtvr u wanna call it) and likely wont post for a while because dawg camp and the draft content was like the most we’ve had from azzi in so long. i think shes probably doing alright considering the amount of support shes surrounded by and honestly she didnt really seem like in any hurry to suddenly become active like an instant unpause after not beibg active for so long, like i dont rlly think her being “on a break” was all that deep she was probably convinced to post but didnt really seriously care to upkeep not postibg in the first place so itd be practically no change in her lifestyle to go back to not posting i dont think she was like resisting the urge to post or anything. specifically now post-situation it might not be “i dont psot often but i sometines do wheneveb i feel like it” instead she might purposely stay away and actually jsut take time away from media focus for a little and we’ll get like a crumb once and a while.
and i think paige being active rn is a mix of moving on from the incident and also the fact that the season is over and shes back on media and does like beibg on it like for example on lives and stuff. i feel like shes trying to show that shes moving past it as well as not letting it effect or stop doing what she enjoys. i also think that if paige had gone media silent after what happened it mightve brought even more attention to it with people speculating the effects it had or twitter running wild as it always does. i think her vague-ish thanking for support tweet near when it happened was good because it further fueled people who had been covering the timeline and helped speed up efforts to get tweets taken down but didnt actively add crap tons of spotlight on it. plus her normally posting and tweeting helps spread around what people are focusing on when she appears or if shes mentioned and it js moves the crowd on. we also know shes been described as/has said about herself that shes the type to put on a strong front in stressing times so even if shes beibg active on media and seemingly doing alright she could be doing it for all the reasons i just mentioned about moving the public on (like damage control/reputation padding) and still be literallt depressed behind the scenes and js doing it bc she feels she has to. either way we have no way of knowing whats actually happening and we will probably never know, i can only guess abd assume just as much as everyone else, i could be insanely far off or completely spot on, even if it doesnt match how any of us assume or imagine her acting just remember that we literally do not know any of these people!
i hope things settle and we can see them together again i dont think the situation would have effected their relationship with eachother theyre like ride or die and its not like its their fault it happened. obviously no one wouldvt wanted it to happen but i like to think that behibd the scenes theyre supporting eachother or they could be givibg eachother space but all n all i dont see this being the reason they suddenly drop eachother and i have ful lconfidence theyll come out the other end still side by side.

If it is a god shroom then everything explodes because It's A God Shroom it could do whatever it wants for any reason . In which Sozo has a god in his body/brain(???) and that's why it can drag him with it when it's revived.

you pointed out nova storm being yellow now and it's going to haunt me wondering if ciro neili (did some of the character designs) did that as a friggin' monkey team reference
okay so the thing is Nova Storm is a rainmaker. a character that barely exists but IS from G1.
the yellow one. but the thing is that even though the rainmakers are like, quite popular, since they are seekers, and have been referenced in fanon for decades, this character did not get a name until 2015. From Ask Vector Prime. So the rainmakers are Acid Storm (green), Ion Storm (blue) and Nova Storm (yellow.)
Obviously Nova Storm (yellow) is very confusingly similar to completely unrelated character Sunstorm. The other yellow seeker.
Apparently some old fanon staight up asserts Nova Storm is just a miscoloured Sunstorm? god. who knows. Also, to be clear, despite the fact Sunstorm's name ends in -storm, he is NOT a rainmaker. completely unaffiliated. coincidental.
this is where shit gets weird
so in 2015 Nova Storm gets a name. okay, solid. We have agreed the yellow one is named Nova Storm.
Three years later in 2018, Cyberverse airs. This is the new Nova Storm.

so this is Cyberverse Acid Storm, another rainmaker. due to, I believe, a miscommunication during production, some episodes use the female seeker model for Acid Storm and some use the male. Addressing this on twitter staff has owned up to the mistake and instead of getting defensive, rolled with it and said hey, well, its in there, so its canon! Acid Storm is genderfluid lol. And I kind of love that.
In any case you can see distinct differences in the models, so like. if Nova Storm used the male model, at least it would be different from slipstream. as it stands purple nova storm, for some reason, is one of the most frequently appearing background seekers, so it ends up, imho, being VERY confusing. especially if you arent like me and the rest of us freaks and you cant recognize every character by a picture of their ankle.
so like, to be clear, I'm pretty sure Cyberverse is actually the first time any actual STORY used the name nova storm. I think the only thing predating cyberverse is the ask vector prime. at the very minimum this is the first major use of the name, for the purple female character. at this point the connection to the yellow rainmaker is.... tenuous??????
but then we drop the card game:

nova storm also apparently appears in idw 2019 where, again, apparently, girl? but look. yellow. YELLOW. all yellow. rainmaker.

this is the art attached to the ask vector prime post. what even the FUCK is that. sorry the art is nice but what IS that. is that a SEEKER? WHO is that. that PRIMARILY black with gold accents. thats not the rainmaker design or even the purple one we'd get.
i genuinely hate referencing this but the only other appearance of nova storm is as an angry birds pig costume and while its still mostly yellow i DISTINCTLY note the black cannons and yellow and hands like. thats. thats from the ask vector prime design.

Nicole Dubuc. nicole fucking duboc plays her AND skywarp. nicole dubuc is the head writer. she wrote rescue bots. and final side note, tfp ratchet's catchphrase "I needed that!" came explicitly from her scripts lol. god this is so funny to me she went from recording rescue bumblebee's lines before they were replaced with beeps to just straight up being Novastorm and Skywarp in a mainline show.

I know it hasn’t been mentioned in a long while, but Koei Tecmos work was pretty good in Samurai Remnant. The twist about the Protagonist was also really well done too. I know this doesn’t reveal much as it’s the same writers who worked on Houses/Hopes, but the main protagonist definitely makes a lot more consistency I feel since all two routes and endings are about Miyamoto Iori, with the last one being about his true nature. Still annoying waifu bait with a fox girl but Iori has zero interest.
I haven't played it, but I have no doubts KT can produce/make good games!
The thing with Nopes (and Fodlan in general) is how FE has traditional themes, and unification/imperialism isn't one of them, ditto with the "earl grey for everyone!" which means you can pick your leader and the games panders so hard to said leader that it forgets its plot.
Izuka is Izuka, Feral Ones aren't forgotten come FE10 because we follow Miccy and Miccy wants to liberate her country - Miccy says fuck to Izuka and his Feral Ones, period. End of the story (until Tibarn/Elincia/Ranulf gets to kill the guy).
Are those changes on KT's door? Given how IS, through Heroes, spinned a retconned Narrative to sell Vero - complete with "sad'n'lonely" and "surprise!brainwash" by a "sad'n'lonely" goddess, I... frankly, don't know.
Engage is a thing, where people take responsibility for the things they did when they were "brainwashed" no matter how "sad'n'lonely" they were (or are roasted for it) - and yet FEH gave us the monstruosity that was the last book, where a time-travelling sexy lady destroys the world because "reasons" compel her to do so, but she loves the player so much : that's the twist. FFS, at the end of the book, we don't even know what were those "reasons" that compelled her to destroy the world, or the snakes who pushed her to do it, the suppsoed "mastermind" was killed off-screen, and the most important thing at the end is how past present and future are merged to simp together after the avatar.

And yet, given how Fodlan plays and how Nintendo actually sent surveys to people who played FE16 something they never did (not for Engage!) before for the FE series (afaik) - I wonder who is to "blame" for Fodlan's writing, IS, KT, a mix of the two?
The lack of care (which becomes obvious when you compare FE16 to the precedent and following entry) isn't something IS has usually shown (I mean, Nopes' dev said he forgot parts of FE16 when he played the game ffs! No continuity guy in FE16?!?) - KT and IS's precendent collaboration was the first Warrior game, so why Nopes came out so... well, like it did?
If there is one definite thing I can complain and lay at KT's door though, it's the models (they're fucking ugly) and whoever decided to swap Rhea/Seiros's unique moveset (I mean have you seen her animations in FE16 when she's in her Saint class??) for a swordmaster on steroids.

Hi, I love your art so much! You've inspired me to take up digital drawing again! I was wondering how you chose your poses and colors? Your art looks AMAZING, and I struggle to come up with those things. And, if it's not too much of a bother, any tips on messy sketches? I struggle so much with sketching because my silly brain wants everything to be perfect. Sorry if that was a lot of questions. Again, I love your art. You've been a huge inspiration to me!!!
Ahhh thats awesome!! So with poses i usually just imagine it jfjs sorry thats not helpful i have a really clear imagination so i can like very clearly pose characters BUT if im really having trouble with angles ill remake the pose in magic poser to try make sure i get the forshortening. If you are trying to get poses tho absoloutly get references and just work from them! Colours i will usually just play around until i feel it clicks together, understanding colour theroy defonaitly help.
Its good to just experiment with colours and poses, ill usually try to stay away from extreme saturation, so no going right into the corners i like to be a little off so like off whites, off blacks just makes it a little more realistic for example black hair is never true black it can be a blacky blue or blacky brown!
Dor doing messy sketches i used to be like SUPER perfectionist when it came to sketches till a games company absoloutly read me being like....that isnt a sketch...thats a fully rendered character it looks finalised i was like 8U having inperfect sketches is very good its about getting the idea down not the final product, you feel like your sketch has to be perfect final render but it doesnt its the sketch its suppsoed to be sketchy! It took me a while to undo that idea that it has to be perfect but just let yourself be messy, let yourself get down ideas its fun being messy 💕
Im so sorry if none of this is helpful i don't actually know what im doing jshs and im not the best teacher cause im bad at putting stuff into words, but im so glad youre getting into digital art again and i hope you have a lot of fun doing it 💕

I feel like there's no good place for me to add to the Fiction First discussion:
Im not 100% sure how my group reached this idea. We started back in like 2011 on 4e from the Red Box they did for it. Our understanding of the gameplay was you roll for everything that wasn't basic body functions, more or less. I don't think the books necessarily say to do it this way, but that felt like what we were suppsoed to do to play D&D.
I can't find my red box books, but the 4e players handbook i still have (full of notes and post its and such) says "Decide what you want you're character to do and tell the DM. The DM tells you to make a check and figure out your chance of success."
I think that's the part that we leaned on. As DM, I decided what success looked like and what it required. And to the players, that felt like they didnt have as much say in the story. That's why when i first read Monster of the Week i was blown away. The success parameters, or potential outcomes of the action, were already decided! I couldnt just arbitrarily say "thats impossible, so dont even try to roll for it" about something (17 year olds have strong opinions about a fantasy world).
But here's the the thing. We we're still doing the fiction. After two sessions of making plans and trying to follow D&D to the tee, i gave up on that. My player killed an important NPC immediately, and i didnt have the guts or anything to like have real consequences. Our game, which lasted like 30+ sessions probably, just turned onto a group of us goofing off and improvising a story while also using skills and rolling d20. We just naturally starting doing fiction first, and I've never really thought about that til this moment if im being honest.
D&D just has always felt like this game where your playing in the DM's story, which maybe speaks more to how i learned to DM than anything else (which was just by playing and reading tumblr posts in the year of our lord 2011). Nothing ever made me think of roleplaying as fiction first until i started branching out into other TTRPGS. And now your post made me reevaluate my thoughts on playing 4e as a teenager.
I think what's interesting here is that while I do see myself in a lot of this (although I started out with D&D 3e after first playing Rolemaster a bit, we still hadn't developed a good idea of how these games are best played) what stands out here is the idea that D&D is the GM's story, which does seem like the default way to run D&D these days, even though it's not the only way! I'm always a bit leery about claims made by people in the old-school scene that a totally emergent sandbox was basically the true way to play in those early days of the hobby (I think that while some groups may indeed have played the game like that, there were also an equal number of heavily authored campaigns where the DM simply presented their players with the dungeon of the week, week after week), but I do think it's good that people have been rediscovering older editions of D&D which are full of potential for emergent narratives as well as being introduced to games that encourage those emergent narratives.
Because, again, I don't think what's at play is D&D being any less "fiction first" (although I do agree that PHB 4e kind of leading with the idea that the player describes an action and the GM always demands a check isn't great) than MotW, but that the latter was more supportive of the type of play you wanted, where the focus is on an emergent narrative shared among the whole table instead of a GM-authored story.
But that's the thing, at least for me: that emergent narrative isn't in any way at odds with D&D (although the process of finding that shared narrative does look different in D&D) and certain editions of D&D are full of tools for creating emergent narratives.
And yeah, this is as good a time as any to clarify my intentions: my intention is not to pass judgement on either D&D or the various games that have been touted as "fiction-first." I know what I've written could be easily read as "these stupid indie games are actually no different from D&D" (that's simply not true, they are very different in their mechanics and approaches, but the way they sometimes get presented is like they're almost an alien language), but it's more to assuage D&D-players' fears that outside of their weirdly idiosyncratic dragon game lies a wasteland of games that are completely incomprehensible to the dragon gamer.
Anyway why did I write all that. Oh well.

Just wondering; what else was in store if you don’t mind answering? Just curious.
Considering the comic was SO close to finishing it’s Introduction arc... well, a lot.
For start, Blixter spent all of his childhood indoors and was homeschooled, being the son of three rich higher ups- he was obviously prone to danger. Since he’s out of the house and able to make his own decisions now while pursuing college, he already had a bounty on his head beforehand due to him sneaking out of the house and introducing himself as some “street punk’ who’s dirt poor.
He stuck with that identity since he wanted to meet other people and even make friends, tired of just watching other people actually grow up with childhood friends and whatnot while he stays behind doors.
One of his dads, Chronos, had connections with other groups in Paradise. One of them being “Wilt’s”. Wilt is someone who is referenced here and there due to its influence towards both Square’s situation and Blixter’s safety. Meanwhile, Tri mee (Try This) is Blixter’s body guard as well, he protects Blixter in the shadows- taking down threats and keeping an eye on Blixter when’s he’s out.
(There was supposed to be a scene where someone tries to stab from behind while he was out late at night but the armed man was taken to a nearby alleyway by Tri Mee who then chokes him to death. Basically the first on scene death)
Speaking of, Act 1 was just Blixter familiarizing with his surroundings. Cuda’s his professor! Lycan becomes Blixter’s best friend and even acts like a little brother that he never had (being a single child plus Lycan referencing having family problems. Lycan’s parents are divorced and his brother lives with his dad while Lycan lives with his mom) So Lycan copes through that with Blixter filling that empty role. Meanwhile, Blixter befriends the Player Sibs such as Triangle (Lycan’s boyfriend), Pentagon, and Circle. Circle does act like a little sister to him as well since Circle seemed distant with her family- especially with Square.
Speaking of, this does kickstart Blixter familiarizing himself with Square and eventually the two get to know eachother. There was suppsoed to be a scene where Blixter invites him over to hang out with him after Square refused the first offer since his siblings were present, more comfortable with Blixter only.
This eventually leads to ACT 2 which switches the POV from Blixter to a new character, New Games; He’s nicknamed “Newt” for simplicity sake. Hah, like a lizard.
He’s a depressed old man who works at a dead end job and lives in a constant loop. His best friend, Captain, tries to cheer him up whenever the two meet up but knows that New Games is still miserable. back then, he lost his wife and missed the birth of his kid, he was detained at the time for a crime he didn’t commit. His past consisted of him being involved with gang members because a close childhood friend, Wilt, dragged him into their situation. Because of his ‘connection’ with a literal mobster, he was pinned as a suspect.
Captain got him out once he caught wind of this but when New Games found out his wife had died while giving birth, he was devastated. Even after all those years, he still can’t let the past go. It didn’t take long when he received an anonymous letter saying that his kid is still alive. Desperate to cling onto what remains of his loved one, he was filled with determination to find his kid.
With the help of Captain and Helinia-- a friend of Captain as well-- he got a ticket to a one-way trip to Paradise. It’s later revealed the one who sent him the letter was none other than Wilt. They wanted to see him again after all those years and to apologize for the time when New Games was detained for a crime THEY committed, not him.
ACT 3 is... well, to say, just chaos. Here’s some jokes that were funny from the script;

See when Goku died the second time it was such a morose and sensitive time and Chichi was due for another baby and there was just no room for negativity any more. It was sad and quiet and sweet and bittersweet and careful. She had a new beautiful baby boy and Gohan had a new baby brother.
It was a time of gentle healing. There was relief in the peace.
Because of that I'm very interested in the time when suddenly Goten was old enough that Chichi saw it fit to start beating him. It's been years and the tone of the house has been studious and sensitive, and the new baby has been such a blessing that no one has ever gotten THAT mad about anything lately. Chichi has not used the iron skillet on Gohan in this time, though there were a few times where Gohan felt it would be threatened - but mostly, he felt that he was old enough that that wasnt gonna happen anymore. He felt some sense of satisfaction at his own strength, and that the peace was earned. This house is an emotionally sensitive and intelligent one now.
But chichi is maligned and it's going to come out somehow. When Goten gets to be about 6, Chichi stops being comforted by his babyness and her patience starts to wear thin with him. It starts being ok to slap him, for some reason.
And I just imagine the SICK HORROR that Gohan would feel, in his bedroom, doing his schoolwork like a good boy, when he can hear his mother's tone go sharp in the other room, and then the unmistakable CRACK of a slap to the face. It's defintiely not her strongest, but it stings on babyfat.
The way Gohan's heart would SINK ... he would feel so sick immediately.. It's as if that behavior never left their house, and he's responding in an uncapped adverse way as if he's still young hinself - but unlike when he was young, he's lost the defensive emotional wall regarding it that would have spared him the embarrassment of tears. His defenses have disintegrated with disuse and the panic and pain and sickened SADNESS of hearing that from the other room is suddenly intolerable.
He would act but he knows that theres nothing he could say to get through to Chichi .. and he knows that he cant talk back to his mother. He has too much empathy for her at this present time, so while he DOES hurry out into the room and take Goten into his protective arms and beg their mom to not do that, to beseech how COULD she do that?, to remind her of their saddened circumstances, and to ultimately startle her by the way he's trembling and his voice in a pre-tears wounded cadence, he does not blame her like he should. He knows shes stressed.
Not much can really be done about Chichi so Gohan just tries to keep Goten close, and to specifically encourage him to leave the room with him whenever Gohan starts to sense that Chichi is operating on one nerve only. But who knows what is free to transpire when Gohan isnt around.
Chichi does try to train Goten a little bit, and gives up immediately + dissolves to tears when he goes super saiyan. I dont imagine this rejection by his mother felt good to Goten. And he does learn to fight over at Capsule Corp, but it's a completely different environment and circumstance than when Chichi cracks the wooden spoon over his head.
There is one time where Goten, as he learns about the world, wonders why there is a difference. And there's a day where he catches the spoon before it makes it to his head. As he and Chichi stare at the spoon, frozen in its trajectory, Goten doesnt know exactly what this means yet. He feels a bit shy at the defiance, and a lot of pride at having defended his organism - but then his mother mobilizes in a response of pure shock, fear, and pain. She starts to cry and it's clear she feels betrayed. It's clear he's in trouble. And Goten then is overwhelmed with the new knowledge that - oh, oh no, I'm not suppsoed to do that, I'm not suppsoed to dishonor my mother by getting in her way and going against her will, look at how upset I've made her, look at how much she doesnt love me right now! I've committed a grave defilement of our honor! I've lost her love!
So naturally he never does that again.
I've written about this before but it was only briefly + in the middle of a 6600 word post about GT Trunks, so I'll summarize to the best of my memory: Goten, as his mother's baby boy and saving grace, as her only source of happiness and salvation, as her only source of purity, and as a male who is always told how much he looks like his father (by whom she has taken pain from), feels personally responsible for his mother's emotionally state and feels BEYOND ABYSMAL whenever he feels that he has besmirched her. This is a response to a wound of early childhood and is a moodstate that is out of context in our present time, but is just as persuasive. He feels inconsolably depressed at these times because it's the feeling a baby would have when it got the sense that its mother didnt love it.
He's a happy guy otherwise and he'll go through life being so true to hinself UNTIL he's suddenly down. He's a martial artist + so in-tuned with hinself and his authenticity and his organism's natural healing resources so the effect isnt as PERVASIVE or ENDURING as it could be, but still detrimental.
He'll walk around on GT being a slag and playfully going against his mother's wishes for the priority of authenticity, but if his mother actuslly shed tears or expressed real distress that he's not making any real commitments or efforts toward marriage, then he would get down on his knees on the floor next to her chair and gently grip the arm that Chichi is using to cover her tears and he would promise her, promise her, promise her that he'll do better. As an old wound, he CAN NOT and WILL NOT end up like the father that everyone says he looks like, whose absence he has seen cause his mother irreparable misery and stress over the years. He'll be a good son and a better husband than his father ever was. He looks up a lot to Goku of course but in these moments, it's just between him and his mother, and he just wants to soothe her as he was able to do when he was a sweet baby boy and earn her love. He'll give her a good daughter-in-law and grandkids like she wants.
Goten is a wild man and he loves being himself BUT at times like this he takes a MASSIVE HIT regarding his percieved loss of purity. He knows love and pleasure and sincerity and beauty when he sees it, but at these times and in this moodstate, he feels like he deserves to die for all the pretty women's hands he has held and not honored through marriage. When in his frat years Kinto-Un temporarily rejected him on account of his shitting in one too many urinals, that triggered one of those episodes and he was AWOL for a short while.
Obviously this is clearly fucked. Chichi has made her baby boy responsible for her emotions, becasue she evidently cant moderate/regulate them on her own, when in parenting it's suppsoed to be the other way around. Though I know she loves and is loyal to her family so deeply, she has conducted herself in a manner that has colored her love as conditional and equaling to her satisfaction in her child. She is reactive and explosive and temperamental. She is emotionally immature. Why. I feel like she had a fine dad so why is she like this
Gohan knows this about her and he just sort of .. moves out about it. He takes refuge in his work. He starts his own family. He lets Goten visit as much as he wants. Gohan of course loves his mother and feels responsible for her in the way that one with a sensitive and elderly mother would, and he really does want her to be happy, but he also shuts down a lot of her behaviors and a lot of his responses to her emotions for the sake of his own wellbeing. But he also avoids the topic of her insanity and will not read any books that could explain her behavior or help him to heal, he just hyperfocuses on bugs and disassociates from himself to get by. Whatever
The only one who could ever tame ms Chichi BTW was Piccolo becasue he brought her much-needed peace and security.

like waht am i suppsoed to take away from this scene of the support therapy group right. its clearly meant for this protag to relate to tehse people in some way because he lost his girlfriend to a superhero incident, anf the issue its talking abt is the vwry real and serious issue its world has wiht superheroes treating normies like bugs and harming them wihtout a thought, but then the second story an attendee tells is one wehre his dick got snapped off by a girl wiht ice powers during sex. am i suppsoed to laugh at this story in the context of the world? the protag adn other characters react uncomfortably and even liek this is funny to them (atleast for this other guy the brit) ... but its inthe context of a significantly improtant issue this world and narrative is tryinf to get me to care about. its just a whiplash taht isnt very pleasant to experience
