Who are some of the married couples who you think need fic 👀
Well anon, this might be a long list, so buckle up. 😭😭
Couples That Have Zero Fics (and my explanations on why they should):
Milwaukee Bucks - Khris Middleton/Giannis Antetokounmpo
Steph and Klay have played together for thirteen years, and behind them, Khris and Giannis have played together for eleven years. Their partnership is wonderful, so tender and soft. You just have to look at their photos together to see that. Giannis said that once Khris retires, it will be so sad for him, since he has never played a single game without him.
Brooklyn Nets - Cam Johnson/Mikal Bridges
They sparked a friendship in 2019, were on the Phoenix Suns together for four years, then they were traded ~together~ for KD onto the Nets. They do everything together, to the point where they've been called twins. They were even together playing at the FIBAWC last summer on Team USA!
Dallas Mavericks - Dwight Powell/Maxi Kleber
I don't know if you have ever gone into Mavs Tumblr, but Dwight and Maxi have so many intricate rituals together that I am surprised that nobody has ever written fic about them. They've both played together for seven years. There's lots of evidence that they both hang out off-court together, and a video of them playing golf together too!
New York Knicks - Jalen Brunson/Josh Hart
Are these two married...? I mean, they have old married couple vibes so I'm just going to sneak them in here anyway. If you've paid attention to the nba tumblr community rumbles, then you've seen them. I even made a text post meme on them. They were college roommates, then became friends, now they're on the same team, and they have a podcast together.
Oklahoma City Thunder - SGA/Dort and J-Dub/J-Will
They are new, so I understand why there's nothing. But, SGA and Lu Dort are both Canadian and they are open about their bromance. They have known each other since high school and were roommates together. They also play for the national team. Meanwhile, J-Dub and J-Will were drafted together, plus they have similar names and have a budding twin-like friendship.
Couples That Aren't Married But Are A Pair:
Luka Dončić and Devin Booker
Even though they don't have much history together irl, this gifset of them and also the text post meme I made (which...btw, is my most popular one so far) single-handedly proves that they need way more than one single fic written about them.
Couples That Have Fic But I'd Like More:
Boston Celtics - Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown
Denver Nuggets - Nikola Jokić and Jamal Murray
Chicago Bulls - Coby White and Patrick Williams
Houston Rockets - Alperen Sengun and Jabari Smith Jr. (I am very biased about this one, I'm afraid)

excuse me i need to Muse on something for a moment
so in Wally's secret 'vinyl' audios, specifically the last few (if we're listening to em in chronological order), obviously he starts to sound more strained/distressed. his breathing is more labored, like it's taking all of his energy to make contact.
but the audio that really caught my attention was the "But i still can't see" one. cause he just said he has more eyes than he did before. he knows We draw them a lot, and it's thanks to that that he can see. but he still can't see?
so my question is: where is Wally physically? cause although he can (assumedly) see the WHRP goings on, he can see through the eyes We draw, that could all be on a, uh... more Intangible level of sight. like the spiral pit is forming an eye, and then there's the eye on the ceiling in the secret Staff Only section - could Wally be in the pit, that space between his reality and Ours, "watching" through the eyes? but unable to actually see with due to the pit being pitch black nothingness? is he somewhere else? is he stuck? he can see, but he can't... see.
(or is he trying to explain an abstract concept - he's not actually viewing anything, but he can sense it. like how he knows We're there, even if he can't see or hear Us. but he just doesn't have the words to describe it other than using physical senses - see, hear, look.)
and him saying "...that I can see. But it is still... I can't..." but it's still what, Wally? dark? something else that he doesn't have the words to describe, so he just says that he can't see?
i know that in the Livestream Trivia Document (compiled by @/the neighborhoodwatch) there was something said about Wally being in a box. my first thought reading that was "oh, so he's in storage? the physical puppet, i mean?" which would make sense - show's over, there's no more use for him. pack 'em up and put him away. but that paired with the "can't see" audio makes both seem a lil... connected.
Wally can't see > he's likely somewhere dark > the inside of closed boxes are dark > Wally's in a box. (or maybe the Neighborhood is the box? it's a stretch, i know, but the map is a box. television sets are often set up in "boxes". maybe it's less of a physical storage box and more of a 'boxed in' sort of thing...)
one question i've had since the Start of my interest in this incredible project is: how is Wally communicating? how has he connected to the site? how does he connect to our reality? the pit almost definitely has something to do with it - most likely acting as a bridge, or the deteriorating of the barrier between our two 'worlds' - but if Wally is in a box and Not the pit or even just in the puppet's reality... how is he reaching us beyond just seeing through the eyes he's given?
or is he in their reality, and he can contact through the pit or something, but he can't actually see the other side? Our side? he knows it's there - that We're there - but none of it is visible to him. maybe his apparent disassociation in the 14 bug audios is a demonstration of him contacting Us. we can see through him, but it's a one way street.
and speaking of the pit - i just had a thought. his whole thing with Us letting him in, opening... the pit on the neighborhood map is getting bigger and clearer. but the presumed Other Side, the one on the Staff Only ceiling, is small. it's the size of a ceiling panel. it seems to me that Wally is chipping away at his side of the pit or 'portal', trying to reach Our reality, but he needs Us to do the same thing on the other side. the QA can hear him calling, but there's no phone on their (Our) side of the pit. how do We call back???
there's a fundamental barrier & lack of understanding between Wally and the QA/Us. he's trying. he wants to be let in, but what does that mean, really? let him in where? open what? he's desperate. he wants us to understand. he's trying so so hard Without the right tools to clearly communicate what he wants. he can't see Us, We can see him, both know the other is there, but there's no way to connect. and the attempts are hurting all parties involved, however unintentionally

I wonder if Scott's alpha teeth made him nervous even after he got used to them just Being A Thing Now. If, when he would catch the glint of red eyes staring back at him, he had to still an instinctive flinch and try not to think of all the people who have threatened to or almost ended his life with that same vibrant hue. If the feeling of blood under his claws, on his skin, in his hair and soaked into his clothes ever became normal, if it was ever something truly able to be numbed and ignored. If seeing his shadow with pointed ears and elongated claws and shredded shirts gave him day terrors like the Nogitsune never went away; a paranoia that everyone could see how fucking messed up (how scary) he was. If Scott ever truly moved on from feeling afraid of being a monster, of becoming a Monster. Not all monsters do monstrous things, but all Scott has ever seen is monsters who choose to act like their namesake.
If he continues to be cautious and aware of his teeth, of his eyes, of how blood is overwhelming and what it's like to be afraid --- because if he looses his humanity, his tie to slow healing and faulty lungs and what it feels like to be prey to somebody else, how will he be any different from the monsters that plague him?
Scott is the outlier, and he does not let his monstrous features define how he chooses to behave and who is chooses to be.

I'm thinking again on the fact that so often comments, criticism and readings on Jack dwell a lot on how he is barely human/a person/doesn't have a personality at the point of the story and, while I somewhat understand these points, I find them so lacking. I find them... ableist? I'm always doubtful to use the word here because I'm not sure if it's applied in this kind (mental health) of context, but something like that. And I find them extremely simplistic.
However, honestly, a big part of the reason for these readings being so popular is that the manga itself words it that way. But that's one of the problems I find in the manga. When I say P.andora Hear.ts is very good but unfortunately it is very manga-like at times, besides the 2000s homojokes and the like, I'm usually thinking about things like this. I feel like often characters and situations that are (potentially) very intricate instead of getting insightful deep overviews often get screwed by the writing itself, which falls into very manga tropes a lot in a bad way (not that every manga has to fall into them, or that every manga trope has to be bad or written badly).
I don't know... For instance, I'd argue R.askolnikov's capacity for love in Cr.ime and Punishmen.t is debatable, but it's never treated as if it made him less of a person, a human being or made him not have a personality. I'd say not even Svidrigailo.v, who is as much a Bad Guy™ as a character can be, gets that treatment by the writing. I'd say that even him or Mikol.ka are written as fully fleshed human beings with their intricate internal lives and feelings. Svidrig.ailov's last scene with D.unya is fascinating for both characters and spins the whole dynamic and makes you question the entire narrative and veracity of not only those two characters, but brings to mind several other conversations among different characters and throws light (and doubt!) on the main plot between R.askolnikov and Porf.iry.
In similar situations, Jack's humanity, personhood and personality are debated, doubted and even full on accepted as vanished. No one reads Crim.e and Punishmen.t and comes to the same conclusions about Raskolni.kov, Svidrig.ailov, Sony.a or Razu.mikhin. The writing doesn't allow it. The writing doesn't allow you to forget that humanity is diverse and multifaceted, that it can be sad and cruel and loving and monstrous, even all at the same time, or that a person may struggle with feeling at all; and one is still a person.

okay. sophie. i've watched season one of the newsreader and i have so many thoughts and feelings?? the main one is frustration because this show is so close to being phenomenal but i'm constantly reworking it in my head while watching for maximum emotional impact. but putting that aside, it's just so nice to have emotional disasters on my screen again. i didn't even know that anna torv constantly on the verge of losing her shit was something i needed but by god do i deserve to watch it happen! and sam reid as a bumbling bisexual in a polyester blend is the cherry on top. thank you for the rec
Haha, I'm so glad you liked it! It's definitely flawed as a series and I think falls victim to the fact that Australian networks don't / can't afford more than 3 drafts of a script (in comparison, American and UK networks typically fund upwards of 6), but I think there's a lot to love about it too! The performances are a lot of fun, and the time period they chose to creatively operate in I think is really interesting both in terms of the stories and news it covers, but also in terms of style and sets?
My sister actually did a week's work on s3 recently for a big set piece and so I have a little inside goss about the new season too which is making me excited to see where they're taking it.

What exactly is method acting??? Is it used in theater and movies? Do idols use this to an extent? My only knowledge of method acting is how dangerous it can be 😭
basically there's two types of method acting: capital M The Method, and lowercase m 'method'. The Method is an acting practice developed by stanislavksi in the early 20th century that is actually a very comprehensive and well known form of acting training that (in like the simplest terms possible) encourages you to fully embrace and interrogate the emotional responses of a character using a specific system of methodology. it's a lot more complicated than this but one technique that gets the most press is substitution, where you basically use your own experiences to provide the basis for an emotional response. basically like, if you have to act sad you think about something sad that happened to you personally. this particular technique was notably NOT invented by stanislavski, it actually dates as far as ancient greece and a story about the actor polus using the ashes of his real son while acting in electra. the OTHER type of 'method acting' is the kind that's been warped by public perception and lee fucking strasberg. basically three american acting teachers went to russia to learn The Method, and when they brought it back to the us they splintered it into three different parts and basically made their own versions as it applies for film, so it's not truly the proper Method. lee strasberg focused more on the psychological aspects and wrote in one of his books that stanislavski also used a technique where actors stayed in character even off stage, even though it was only a half truth. stanislavski had experimented with that technique prior to systemizing The Method, but he found that it was ineffective so he stopped using it. strasberg, however, managed to singlehandedly construct a massive public misconception and basically tricked a bunch of actors into being assholes for no reason. obvs you hear the stories about daniel day lewis and jared leto etc etc but those people are not actually Method actors, they're 'method' actors.
The Method is absolutely still used in both theatre and film, but i don't think there are a lot of people who use the full system because it's quite complicated. i believe it's also usually taught in acting school (at least it was in mine), but to be honest i have NO idea what the spread/popularity is like outside of the west. i have never heard of an idol that uses it because very few idols actually study acting academically. there's a possibility that it does get taught in korea and there are some actors that use it, but i have no clue as i've never actively looked
