My favorite aspect of "nature vs nurture" with Dark Urge is what it's both why Durge was Like That.
It was both nature (a pureblood bhaalspawn) and nurture (Sceleritas and Bhaal's teachings).
Durge was born into their role of prodigal murderer AND nurtured into it.
Which makes the defying Bhaal so much interesting because at the beginning of the game it's a battle against nature (dark urge) but the lack of previous teachings. So Durge is a clean slate trying to battle their very own origin.
And after the temple, after Durge defying Bhaal and being resurrected, it...reverses.
Because there is no dark urge in them anymore, no Bhaal's unholy blood.
BUT there's nurture. The glimpses of the memories of the person they once were, the eerie familiarity of it, body and mind acting without thought and slipping into old habits. Most of Durge's memories are lost, but they have recovered enough for their raising and past habits to affect them now. And so it's a battle against nurture now, to be different than you used to be, was raised to be.
#dark urge#durge#dark urge spoilers#bg3 spoilers#baldurs gate 3#every morning i wake up and think about durge#there's no 'magical cure' from being what they are even after all of bhaal's blood is extracted#bc what is a person if not the combination of their previous acts#what is person if not the road they walked#and durge's road is a grim one#you think you can fix decades of atrocities with hardly of year of being a hero?#you think you'll ever be able to turn the scales to outweight the horrors you inflicted with good deeds you do now?#think again#durge can escape from their father's grip and his shadows#but they can never truly escape from themselves and their bloody legacy#like i love amnesiac!durge turning lawful good#but you know what i love more? not a hero durge who is lost and confused and keeps going good AND bad things at random#because they can't figure out how to act. this is a new territory. hpw do you act good? should you even act good?#what is goodness?#who told all those losers what killing is bad? why you killing goblins considers good but you killing lets say a tiefling is considered bad?#isn't death is death? why do they praise you for butchering the entire goblin camp but cry in agony when some random citizen dies?#why killing goblin children is good but not tieflings?#how do you figure out what murders are socially acceptable what are not?#murdering an entire temple is good but not flaming fist soldiers?#WHERE'S THE LINE??#setting fireworks shop on fire is good??? why?#if a someone murders a murderer doesn't it just creates another murderer?#is the answer in numbers? is killing a lot of murderers makes you Less of a murderer? how is murder considered a good deed?#how are all these ppl call themselves good it's really not that different from father's teachings

seventeen's love languages!
ft; 95z + 96z so ? hyung line
requested? yes! combining 2 in 1
also be referred to as how they show love! bc
also I need to know the statistics on why all of my reqs are 95z and wonwoo
Tumblr media
seungcheols love language is...
Tumblr media
quality time! it's so intimate and cheol strikes me as someone who would rather spend quality time with his partner! uninterrupted conversations between the two of you is something he values the most; especially being busy as seventeens leader and always having people around him, he would want uninterrupted quality time with his partner!! even when he's most busy he still would find a way to spend time with you!
jeonghans love language is...
Tumblr media
receiving gifts! jeonghan is the type of person to always treasure any gift given to him, especially when it's from his partner. he's a giver too, though he may prefer receiving rather than giving! his favorites are always the homemade gifts, he would display them for everyone to see, specifically mementos of your relationship
joshuas love language is...
Tumblr media
words of affirmation! yall !!!!! referencing back to my other posts; specifically the arguments w svt post he values and I mean VALUES affirmation, whether it be words of encouragement, empathizing or listening actively to you, its so important to him. again he's such a gentlemen, you can really tell he has so much love in his heart for his members and carats. so being in a relationship with him??? holy jesus this man will be affirmative everyday. this is something I could go in about but shhhhh it would be so long
update as of September 1st 2022 I found a fancall video from May and he himself actually said his love language was words of affirmation I'll cry
juns love language is...
Tumblr media
acts of service! he already does so much of this for the members, whether it be cooking for them or buying food for them! he does it and I have no doubt he would do the same for his partner. I feel jun is one of those who heavily lean on the "actions speak louder than words" saying. he is 100% willing to do anything to make people happy, so if you're having a bad day and he notices which he would. expect him to run a bath and cook/buy some dinner for you!
hoshis love language is...
Tumblr media
physical touch! oh my god he's stage 1000 clingy. this tiger boy strives on physical touch, please let him hold your hand in someway he might actually dissipate if he isn't touching you in someway. he absolutely loves to be clingy but not to the point where is overwhelming he just really loves the intimacy of skin to skin contact. :,]
wonwoos love language is...
Tumblr media
quality time! referring back to my previous wonwoo crush hc; I believe him to be very private with his love life. he's probably not the biggest fan of pda so anytime he can get alone with his partner he thoroughly enjoys those moments, especially if you two are able to game, if you're someone who enjoys gaming! please game with him omg:,] stuff like that is what really matters to him, spending time with you doing things you both enjoy? ugh he's a sucker for it
woozis love language is...
Tumblr media
giving gifts and words of affirmation he's good with his words first of all, if you don't think he's about to write a love song for you then you're absolutely wrong. 9 times out of 10 when he's giving a gift to you its always a song he's made for you which is so fricking cute imo. he's also very affirming with his words and never fails to make his partner feel like the most special person on the planet :,] I swear I'll cry

Was thinking about the way crosshair is so disliked among other clones in the most recent ep and wondered what kinda rep he has bc avoiding him so much you get up and walk to another table bc that doesn't seem like just a matter of being different? But he didn't go on a lot of missions with other clones in S1 so I have to wonder where it's coming from. Is it previous rep? Being part of the kamino fall? Just gossip???
I'VE BEEN THINKING ABOUT THIS TOO like, they really have frozen him out more than I think any other clone we've seen. The clones were more forgiving of Dogma after he tried to have Fives and Jesse executed, lol. And like, Crosshair has acted like a bitch before, sure, but he couldn't possibly have alienated each and every clone just on word of mouth alone I would think.
That said, I don't think it's all the other clones' doing. He's been really systematically isolated in ways that are both extremely damaging to his mental health and also could come off as him getting 'special treatment' to everyone else.
He has his own private room - but it's not a privilege it's basically a jail cell, they didn't even give him a pillow. He gets called in personally to talk to Rampart on the regular - to get berated and belittled and also he's never allowed to finish his meals before he's called in there. They've created a very specific situation where he looks like he's heavily favored to troops that are worried about their own existence, all while he's not receiving any benefits at all.
So I think it's a combination of Crosshair's previous behavior (that living with your decisions thing includes having to live with your decision to have been a Huge Bitch whoops) and that from the outside he looks like he's being extremely favored by the Empire, and Rampart in particular. Being the perceived Undeserved Favorite never makes you friends. And this is probably intentional on Rampart's part given how fucking petty he's being and how much he seems to like playing with Crosshair.

@vexatious-knight sure, I can get into it! I know I make it seem like I utterly hated HW in those last few points but I actually don’t, it’s one of my fav expacs. it’s mostly just that I like to bitch abt the weaker parts of things I like bc constructive criticism is love and the finest form of flattery to me.
details under the cut. this is gonna be real long lol I’m sorry
ARR: full warning, I did ARR in a complete state of ‘near mental breakdown from uni stress’ kinda fugue, combined with me being more focused on Learning The Game than paying close attention to the writing (as it goes with the early stages of a new video game), so my initial memories of ARR are a lil’ hazy. regardless I’m in the camp that it Wasn’t That Bad, and knowing the backstory behind its existence makes it easier for me to forgive a lot of it’s flaws. it’s slow and a little poorly paced and very long (and the scions have little character, and the less that’s said abt their voice acting the better, tho I miss some ARR voices like ARR-ysayle, misgardsormr, and merlwyb), but it’s otherwise a fine introduction to the game. I disagree with the fandom optic of ‘skip ARR you don’t need it!’ and how people act like it’s the worst content in the game, bc ARR sets up at least some of the basics for what happens down the line, and again I don’t think it’s that bad. it’s definitely not winning any narrative awards, but it’s serviceable (esp. for smth cooked up quickly after the near-demise of a previous game version).
HW: so far competing w/ ShB for my fav expac. something to note is that I’m a writer, not a game designer, so some of my criticisms are petty just because I theoretically have the time and ability to expand as much as I want on the things I feel could’ve been done better, because I do. I understand that sometimes game design and MMO writing is just Like That bc of time and scope restraints. okay.
I generally really enjoyed HW - though I think it had a couple of missteps, it generally kept a tight narrative and kept sight of its themes. Ishgard is still my favourite setting (bc who doesn’t like rubbernecking a dumpster fire) and I like how it flipped a lot of character genres on their heads (estinien is the broody dark character but he explicitly isn’t an asshole, he’s just traumatized; aymeric is the cool collected golden boy but displays an impulsivity (that gets someone he respects killed) that you’d more expect out of someone like estinien; ysayle is almost sisterly in how much she cares for other people, and instead of being the violent cult leader you initially knew her as she’s literally the matron for a group of outcasts abandoned and harmed by the system). I like how uncertain it initially feels, I enjoy the couple of moments where the wol starts feeling less like a player avatar and more like a realized person by having character reactions and traumas (they’re utterly devastated by haurchefant’s death, and are shown to be explicitly traumatized and worn down), it does a good job of not sugarcoating how much of a hellhole ishgard is, and for the most part it does a fairly good job of having people like aymeric recognize they’re complicit in why their country is this way and making real meaningful steps to change it. I liked the revelations abt what was really going on w/ the dragonsong war.
also i’m native, so seeing a catholic church analogue get thoroughly dunked on, acknowledge, and make actual steps towards reparations (while acknowledging that an apology requires actual action and not just words) for a crime they committed is a little bit more personal to me than it might be for some others.
as for things I think were weaker....I’ve mentioned a few of them before. like I said a few times I think estinien was an exceptionally flat character and that the reveal could’ve been so much better had he been allowed to have a modicum of growth and agency and actually been made to grapple with the reality of the situation and what it means for him and his sense of self. HW has a weird fixation on humbling ysayle (ravana, focusing on how ‘wrong’ she was during its most important scene despite the fact her not knowing makes little sense bc vidofnir) and the reveal + her completely unnecessary death makes it harder to enjoy for me. speaking of, I find the fact that after she dies the heretics are completely forgotten abt to be a particularly big fumble, bc the entire reason they even exist is a huge portion of HW’s message (they’re not all evil fanatic dragonfuckers, many (if not most) of the heretics are otherwise normal people who have been harmed by the system often through no fault of their own, ex. heustienne as shown if you did HW DRG quests, and will be killed if they go back to Ishgard), so it’s a little strange to me that their voices and plights are quietly dropped as soon as they can when they really should be some of the loudest, as should brume residents. another sore spot for me personally (that I’ve mentioned) is that neither aymeric nor the game wants to acknowledge the awkward truth that aymeric, as leader of the temple knights, is directly complicit in their many (not secret at all) crimes and how his failure to control them reflects back on him as lord commander. that he can’t seem to reconcile with this and blames everything on his father is a fun character flaw, but I’d like to see it more acknowledged (both canon and fandomwise) that aymeric fails in some pretty important ways and makes some weird decisions (like restoration-era ishgard still has the inquisitors. aymeric. you kept the fucking heresy police?). I’d like to see his characterization of ‘perfect golden boy’ to be challenged more often, but I’m not gonna hold my breath lol.
StB: oh boy. as you probably know, stb is obviously (so far) the weakest expac in terms of writing - it fails in a lot of ways, sometimes to the point things actually get offensive. what I liked abt it was mostly mechanical. a lot of it’s fights were really fun, and stb is abt the point (other than fights like nidhogg) where the game starts upping the ante on mechanic difficulty across the board and starts taking the training wheels off (just a little), and I think a lot of its maps were nicely designed and are nice to look at. omega was a fun raid storyline, and I also liked little details, like how this expac’s ‘beast tribes’ are treated as equals in contrast to the uld’ahn assertion that eorzean ones are violent savages that need to be monitored and put down when they get too uppity (this is why I have very mixed feelings on the scions as an organization, but that’s for a separate post).
narrative-wise tho.....stb is a mess. it’s the classic case of biting off more than it could chew, bc it tries to do two storylines at once and fails at this hard; the ala mhigan sections are too short and underwritten across the board, and they spend too much time faffing abt just getting to Doma that that section feels too short as well. shinryu is a massive sore spot; a bahamut+ level primal is born, disappears, and just.....is never mentioned again except at the very end, where you had no buildup or way to predict this happening. I spent literally the entire expac wondering when people were gonna worry abt shinryu on the loose potentially causing another dalamud situation at any moment. things that are super interesting and have a lot of implications, like zenos’ (fake! manufactured!) echo, which is hydaelyn’s power, giving him the ability to body hop (which is in all previous appearances something only granted by or exclusive to ascians) is inherently interesting and a good segue into the shb revelations but it’s literally never brought up again.
I also didn’t really enjoy it character-wise; papalymo and lyse have absolutely no depth or development in ARR or HW so his death is utterly wasted and the reveal that yda is a fake persona has literally no punch (haha) to it bc yda had no character beyond comic relief in ARR anyway. lyse unfortunately never gets out from under the shadow of her comic relief designation, and due to pacing issues her arc is anemic as fuck (she never really grows and keeps asking the same questions over and over) and never actually materializes into what the devs wanted it to be; lyse as resistance leader was a point that was never going to work as-written, and that’s before the colourism issue comes into play. I don’t think she’s necessarily an awful character, but she was definitely mishandled.
I’m not going to talk abt hien or gosetsu here. know that I absolutely despise them, hien especially, for a lot of reasons. but if I get into these reasons I’ll write a 5k word essay on just that so I’ll spare you the pain and save it for a different post. but hien makes me angry as a character so. yugiri is the best character here by process of elimination, fight me.
yotsuyu’s arc is unsurprisingly a mess, and the post-patches fail to actually engage with it bc her main deal is that she’s been horrifically mistreated, especially by men, her entire life, and the entirety of the post-patches are hien treating her like an object to traded around and gosetsu making funney ‘jokes’ abt women. it’s awful. note that I’m not excusing her actions - yotsuyu is an awful person who’s done awful shit, and the inherent moral dilemma of how to handle her crimes as tsuyu is an interesting beat - but everything abt her is mishandled and so...egregious that at times it almost feels exploitative. it makes me wonder that as written if she’d been better off literally just being an awful person because she’s an awful person, and not awful bc she’s a sexual assault survivor (which, I want to stress, this is not the first time this game has made the implication that women who are sexually assaulted are just morally broken afterwards (the first was eline roaille) which is quite the stance to take). all in all I think stb is just across the board unsatisfying and is just a complete mess of an expac. fun fights, tho!
ShB: this is as far as I’ve gone and I’ve not started post-patches yet, so I’ll only be talking abt base ShB. like I think I mentioned right after finishing - I liked it! I think it did a good job of keeping to a tight narrative, and one of it’s bigger strengths is that none of its zones overstay their welcome (like. cough cough. ruby sea. cough cough). other than a couple areas I think it did a genuinely good job of telling what it wanted to tell, and it’s competing w/ HW for my favourite of the bunch.
it’s maps are super pretty (lakeland has some of my favourite bgm so far), it’s fights are fun as hell, and the lightwarden narrative is genuinely gripping. I really enjoyed the bleaker, more dark fantasy tone starting out, I enjoyed how it didn’t pull its punches regarding how ever-present and how...inevitable the sin eaters feel as a threat (it reminds me of ishgard somewhat, in that way). after an entire expac of feeling like a weapon and almost background character just here to solve problems through violence, shb’s narrative of the scions actually (finally) coming to care about your wellbeing as a person as you’re literally dying for the world and working as a team and the MMO player tendency to just follow quest objectives being somewhat used against you as it’s your ‘but thou must’ violence that ends up nearly killing you is a nice subtle meta thing. the worldbuilding for the first feels fairly grounded (by final fantasy standards) and I don’t really have any issues with it. I wasn’t expecting to like the emet-selch arc at the end but I actually really did, I feel they delivered on that front.
eulmore is my biggest sore spot for this expac, bc I think that while their viewpoint re: the end of the world is interesting I don’t think they’re used well. I get that their existence is to highlight the forces keeping norvrandt divided, but just...hm. I didn’t find them super compelling or dangerous as a threat. you really get the sense that without ran’jiit these guys are just hilariously incompetent. and though I’m not going to talk abt it, it’s not my place, eulmore is fatphobic as fuck.
speaking of ran’jiit, he’s obviously the weakest part of the whole show. I find him to be an utter waste of a character, especially once you consider his hook is kinda interesting in its own right; he’s the only eulmoran we see to be in it and loyal to vauthry for reasons that don’t appear to be selfish, but we never actually learn what these reasons are. nothing abt him is explained (he has a dragon? how are there dragons on the first when dragons in this universe are space aliens deposited on the source? he can fuse with it? how? the only other time we see draconic transformations is in ishgardians bc of ratatoskr’s latent aether. is this a real dragon or just smth shaped like one? what is it? we never see any other creature that looks even similar (the closest is alte roite in omega raids). how is he so strong?), and what little character he does have is often ignored if it’s in the wol’s favour (this is a man who kicks y’shtola and his own man off the side of a bottomless pit, but for some inexplicable reason fails to do the same to the wol, his greatest enemy, when they’re distracted by it). his unwinnable fight schtick is not only old at this point but it’s infuriating - I can forgive zeno’s scripted fights bc it’s reiterated over and over again that he’s not exactly normal when it comes to his combat prowess, and the first go around is shocking in its own right bc it’s the first time you’ve lost a fight soundly, not through any trickery or magic or anything. He’s legitimately just stronger than you. ran’jiit just shows up. wrecks your shit. the exarch gives a weak ‘oh no, ran’jiit!’ as explanation. nothing else is ever explained. he’s just this inexplicably strong dude following you around as an unnecessary motivator to kill lightwardens faster, that’s it. it’s a disappointment in an otherwise strong expac. ryne is however my baby.
I’m not entirely sure on how to feel abt the exarch/g’raha rn, that will probably depend on how the post-patches handle him. know that I intensely disliked him for much of shb, bc I read his actions as deeply horrifically manipulative and genuinely thought he was going the be the main villain he was so fuckin shady. no I don’t really care he was doing it for a good cause, he still forced the wol into a war he knew could kill them without giving them full information abt the consequences and held their friends as ransom and only told them the barest of information after they were already in the shits (holminster). so we’ll see how it goes.
my other quibbles are pettier, and are more the result of time/mmo constraints. like I said once, I’d have liked the lightwarden corruption to be more obviously present (as the game pointedly goes out of its way right at the start to show you exactly what being mid-change looks like) and for maybe at least one more containment failure scare in the tempest to really hammer home how little time you have left (was genuinely surprised there wasn’t one) but that’s easy as fuck to fix in writing when you have unlimited scope.
tl;dr: it’s not that I hate what happened in HW, it’s that I think that while it’s an overall good scene a lot of it’s potential was wasted by a failure to give certain people (estinien) agency or depth (despite the fact he has massive stakes in them), and focuses on the wrong aspect bc it wants to laugh at a woman being wrong instead of the big picture. I think that all of the expacs have their fumble points, and I think these deserve to be talked abt critically. I otherwise really enjoy and even love HW/ShB.
StB is however an entire trip into a minecraft canyon of an expac. I don’t think it’s irredeemably awful, but you can definitely feel the writing issues. the less I say abt hien the better.

I am going to talk about Bryce bc I think people only talk about him if he's The Support Guy. It's always Liam is Airy's fav or Amelia is Airy's fav but Bryce was REJOINED and Liam was an OPTION!! If it was solely to make the others feel better wouldn't Airy have picked the guy that was with them longer aka Liam? And WITH Bryce's info being so hard to find combined with the possibility of Airy watching him during the 7 month hiatus (assuming he found the phobia after the fact) (1/4)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(put my response under a readmore bc oh my god this is a long response ??)
i think airy is DEF fascinated by bryce!!!! like on one hand he chooses to eliminate bryce before liam, so i think he does ALSO maybe have an interest in liam, and theres a chance he didnt have liam rejoin bc he was JUST eliminated, it wouldnt be interesting if he immediately brought him back! BUT its also like... he DEF has a fascination w bryce!!!!!! like the effort he wouldve had to go to just to get that img, and to figure out he has thalassophobia is like. i dont think he put nearly so much effort into finding out stuff abt the other characters. i think he likes to learn things about bryce and thinks hes interesting
the idea of airy killing charlie on purpse is a VERY interesting idea i havent considered before??? i will say that its incharacter for him to not put together how much risk hes putting other characters at, or to accidentally ignore them (what with the ending of one 17. he didnt even Acknowledge that none of the contestants were present where he was looking???), and it wouldnt be unrealistic for him to have said that and acted as if Oh im sure one of the adultsll move the baby or something. or he wont be in the way at all. its probably not very likely for him to be in the way anyway. hell be fine (he also seems to slowly adjust how he runs things, like teleporting tray off the pole before she falls after one contestant died and another broke a leg)
BUT also?? i think it being intentional is a super interesting read, bc it ALSO tracks. i dont think he likes killing the contestants, but he Does see it more as an inconvenience than an actual Problem, and if he only brought charlie for the purpose of showing everyone respawning it DOES impact how much he plans things and how its read how he feels abt the events in one. bc it WOULD track for airy to go like. well i dont want them to get hurt, but itll be quick, so it wont actually bother him. he probably wouldnt even remember it anyway. babies dont remember things that well right? hell be fine.
i think each season is more planned than the last BUT ur right!!!! within each season, the planning for contestants gradually gets more and more random!!! and as for it only taking a day for him to get the info on the s3 contestants, id guess it has smth to do with the fact that he already has a basis for them!!! whereas before, he was having to pick ppl he had Zero connection to, NOW hes picking characters he knows thru his previous contestants!! id imagine its easier to pick someone a person you ALREADY know abt knows and then find information on, than to pick a person out of billions of ppl and THEN find info on them
but yeah the decision to bring children into the competition is like. ABSURD to me. im glad he at least DIDNT bring another baby. but id think maybe airy picked kylie instead of brad bc it was easier to find info on her, but that OBVIOUSLY isnt the case for her image??? bradley HAS an image of himself on a computer????????? (and tbh brad def uses object facebook but thats neither here nor there) so maybe kylie was picked bccccc she interacted w bryce more often? maybe it was easier to find records of employees than bryces friend. if bryces only img was NOT a picture he took, maybe bryce isnt online much, so its hard to find out that he has a friend who is bradley, and easier to find out that he has a coworker??? DUNNO... at this pt im just throwing stuff out there
all of this DOES actually make me wonder, though, because all of hte contestants, in some way, MAY have friends and family, but theyre not especially prominent people (julien COULDVE been due to the nature of his work, but also a lot of artists arent very known, so its ambiguous. but either way, he def wasnt picked intentionally anyway so this doesnt rly apply to him)
bryce has like one friend and a coworker. liam has a friend that shows up but theres its unclear if theres anyone else, and if there IS, they dont show up at all. amelia explicitly mentions having friends and family who are probably worried about her, and charlotte has friends shown, and taylor has friends and family, and tomato has a mother, but even all these people still dont seem to have much in terms of being well known? it couldve just happened off screen, but these ppl disappearing (save for taylor and charlie, who were gone for a WAY shorter period) wasnt very. widely payed attention to
like most obviously it doesnt seem that ANYONE liam hitched a ride w recognized him. which wouldnt be super likely!! but it still makes me wonder if airy deliberately picked people who were like. VERY everyday ppl. people who wouldnt have it be ESP noticed if they disappeared. and if thats the case, i imagine it was a. no harm no foul type thing to him. have a fun game, send them home, nobody was even worried. this wouldnt change much but MAN am i thinkin abt it

hi! i’m a relatively new follower but i was wondering if you took asks about dnd campaigns?
I’m kinda in a shorty spot rn. I’ve played dnd a lot but i never took it that seriously. i’ve moved several states away from home to go to college and my highschool friends back home wanted to start playing! i was pretty excited and i sorta dedicated myself to try and be better and 1) get into my character and 2) invest myself in my fellow players characters because i have been pretty bad at both of those. the guy dming hasn’t done it before so we did a short one shot last saturday (which went fine!) and another yesterday, bc we want him to be confident. between those two sessions i kinda redid my character just cause i didn’t like some stuff from the previous week. yesterday was very very bad.
part of the reason why the session yesterday sucked was cause i’m the only one online, i call in through discord and i have a hard time hearing them (although they can hear me well cause of a bluetooth) and i can’t see them cause our dm points the camera at the map. my character is a grumpy old guy and i’m trying really hard to roleplay that but it’s so hard when they can’t see me do physical mannerisms and i can’t interact with my friends. overall the session for me sucked because i struggled to hear people and it felt like i want actually there. then one my my friends characters killed my wolf that i had just tamed. so i quit and said i had to leave and left the call.
i was really upset about it this morning and so i was texting one of my friends and he said that it sucked for them because i wasn’t doing enough interaction , i kept being grumpy and not talking. and that i shouldn’t have tamed the wolf cause the other player had called dibs on it for meat (which i didn’t hear) ig from there perspective i was really rude during rp sections (i wasn’t trying to be, my character is an old guy and i was trying to play that. clearly not well)
and then there’s the combat. i’m pretty good at constructing characters and so i was consistently dealing more damage than other players and bc combat is my favorite part of the game, i tried to get really into and describe my attacks. last session our dm described our attacks and i was like hey! this my character i wanna say what he does! but i don’t actually know if that’s standard
anywya my friend told me that everyone was a little tired of my descriptions cause i would describe them vividly and take too long and that it kinda seemed like i was making myself the star of the show
idk where i’m going with this. i feel like maybe i should just quit and not come back for another session. i can’t be there in person anywya and obviously as things stands i’m making it less fun. i’m upset at myself and i feel bad for the way i acted cause i didn’t even realize it came across that way. i think i’ve been expecting too much of everyone involved and i know i should try and make it better by playing again but idk how to do that without sacrificing a character im really proud of and parts of the game i really love.
idk if these are the kinds of asks you usually get. you don’t have to answer if it’s not up your alley. i’m sorry for the really long message
Hey there! I do take asks, and I can definitely sympathize with your situation. I've been there before.
You've brought up several issues, any one of which would not be too hard to work out with your friends. But the combination of all of them is a doozy. Personally, I think being the only remote player is the toughest thing to deal with. It's very easy to feel isolated from your friends and like you can't actually get immersed in the role play, no matter how hard you try. In my experience, in order to make this work, you need to have one friend in particular really be your advocate to make sure you are heard and that you aren't missing anything. But even then, playing remotely might just not be fun for you. I know it isn't for me. When I was in this situation, I ended up bowing out of that particular group and finding a new group where I could play in person. That was tough, because the first group were people I had known for a long time, and finding a new group meant having to reach out to strangers. But it ended up being worth it, and I made some new friends.
As for the issue of you being rude, it sounds like if you were, it was unintentional not entirely unreasonable. After all, in some groups you would fit right in with vivid descriptions of your actions during combat. In fact, some would consider that a strength. While others might see it as grandstanding or slowing down the action. Personally, I would be cool with it, but if others are critical, that's fine as long as they give their feedback politely. I once had another player ask me to tone down my descriptions because they said it made them picture the gore too much, which was unpleasant for them. I didn't mind adjusting my style to their preference since they asked politely.
I'm sorry you had a bad experience! Rest assured that it's mostly not your fault. Honestly, you should probably seek a new group to play with. I know that's probably not what you want to hear, but I hope it doesn't make you want to give up on this hobby.

Happy doctor who day everyone!! Next up in the nuwho rewatch is dalek!
(I'm also changing the "did i cry" bit to "did someone die" bc i don't cry often enough for that to be interesting and I've always meant to go through every dw episode and see what ones nobody dies in. People die in all the previous episodes, so I'm not going to go back and edit those)
Bechdel test pass: yes (rose and the soldier)
Did someone die: yes
Ooh the museum
Slitheen arm
Cyberman!
God nine has just the most desolate tone of voice and when he says "I'm getting old" aaagh
Theme song!
BAD WOLF ONE DESCENDING MY BELOVED
I like Goddard ngl
Like sure she's a henchperson for an ultra capitalist billionaire and is fine with the torturing of sapient beings but on the other hand she's funny so
Love that musical instrument that plays three whole notes
This is unrealistic bc Statten would not be specifying they're English; he'd just say British, even if they were Irish
Ooh here it comes
ArjdhfjafhfjjfsjfajgsjrasjftjafjajfatiatjssjtgksgkzgkstksjtsjfsfjsfsjfjafksfksfjsjsfsgkkgsstjjstgkskgssfksfkgkssjfsfjjfskgsgkszfkzgkgkskgsgksjfzfnahdafjskgzgmsgksfksyksktskgskgskgsjfsktsktgjatajtskfsjfjskgskgsjgskgsktsktsgksgksskggksgksgkstksgskkgsgksgmsnfDBAFJW
I'm fine
"I watched it happen; i made it happen!" I'm fine
"You destroyed us?" "...I had no choice" I'm fine
"And what of the time lords?" I'm fine I'm fine I'm fine guys I'm totally fine
His acting I'm
I can't
Wow van Statten you're super intimidating 10/10
God i love Rose's tank top so much
Adam, trying to impress Rose: aliens exist
Rose, who thinks he's hot: wow really?
Stkjrajfs i forget Adam said fantastic
Yeah nine maybe don't tell them you're an alien when they've been shown willing to imprison living sapient beings
But i mean you do you
God van Statten is such a bitch
Ngl the dalek was really smart and good at manipulating rose
They were like "hmm she's a friend of the doctor. I've got it just get her to feel bad for me" and it worked
Love the calculating of a thousand billion combinations like okay yeah sure but can it press the buttons that fast? Also why doesn't it lock after a certain number of incorrect attempts?
No not the west coast! That's where I live!
Speaking of which, glad to hear some good American accents
Love how he's like "you've got to kill it now" but like, they obviously can't
Yay Goddard for caring at least a little bit about the people the dalek is murdering
Good job Adam taunting the great big alien death machine
I really like this soldier. Sure hope nothing bad happens to her
Oh
Rose and Adam literally keep fucking running why are you just standing there
The electrocution was honestly a brilliant move like this dalek is smart
This is the episode where the daleks are most intimidating and best done
But like seriously though every time they bring back the daleks there's more and more of them and it just makes them less and less intimidating bc none of them can ever shoot for shit or do anything clever and they all fall for obvious bullshit traps (revolution of the daleks, anyone?) But like. This is how to do it. One dalek casually murders everyone in an entire base and it's clear it's toying with them. Like it could've just shot them all but instead it activates the sprinklers and electrocutes them all. It's (a) smart and (b) showing off. (Plus that way when they come back in big numbers for the finale it's actually intimidating and not just like oh okay look another army of daleks just like the last dalek episode) Rob shearman write every dalek episode when
Goddard so obviously wants to murder van Statten good for her
The dalek standing in the rain while doctor tells it to kill itself and the dalek tells him he'd make a good dalek is something that can be so personal
Unlike the other times a dalek tells him he'd make a good dalek, where it's just something they just say bc ooh we're so edgy, this one actually works and makes sense and has an impact. Like the doctor just told the dalek he killed all of the time lords just to rid the universe of the daleks; and the dalek is like "that's a lot of hatred there" like fuck if that didn't hit the doctor right the fuck in the chest damn
(And makes all the times they have a dalek arbitrarily say that to the doctor later feel even more hollow and useless by comparison but you don't need me to tell you that moffat sucks)
Anyway rip rose lol
Nine going off on van Statten is something that can be so personal
"I wanted to touch the stars" "you just wanted to drag the stars down and stick them underground underneath tons of sand and dirt, and label them"
Now the dalek having an identity crisis
Dammit doc really you're just gonna let the dalek out? Not a great plan
"Broken, broken, hair dryer"
Goddard is low-key hoping for the dalek to kill van Statten and same tbh (but it's more poetic what happens so)
God rose is so kind
The little tentacle reaching for the sun aww
Rose arguing with nine about killing the dalek is something that can be so personal
Love it when a companion takes moral issue with something the doctor does and argues with them and changes their mind
"Isn't that better?" "Not for a dalek"
This whole scene is just. I don't even have a word for the feelings I'm feeling
(God remember when over a decade later they wrote a story about the most ethical way to execute living beings and managed to fuck that up)
"Are you frightened, Rose Tyler?" "Yes" "so am I" I'm fine
Yay Goddard "some place beginning with s" girlboss
God this episode is so good
Anyway, up next is the long game, the title of which i had to look up bc i forgot it so that bodes well

still not a multi-fandom blog but I finished watching Good Omens 2 and I have thoughts and I want to ramble about them.
But since it's not the main theme of this blog, I don't plan to write GO fanfic again any time soon, and it's rambling about the ending, thus, spoilers, I put it under the cut.
I like that the ending of season 2 was in many ways an enhanced interaction of what happened in episode 3, season 1, including the "Come with me!" and "I forgive you." In a way, it was almost more dramatic given that Crowley didn't just want to go to one of their headquarters and stay involved with Earth and the humans together with his partner, but to elope to a different galaxy.
The speech wasn't that much different, just a bit more self-aware (important, sweet, but they still had similar conversations about "let's be on our side!" before many times, even in the BC times, and if compared, while a similar gist, it has slowly become more and more self-aware over time already, but never was full there before), it really just lacked the kiss and many of us suspected if it weren't for keeping the material a bit more mainstream appropriate when it was written, there would have been a kiss. I wonder actually if that's the reason why the scenes are so similar. To finally do what should have been done a long time before.
Anway, what I'm getting at -
"Let's do [radical thing] together!" - "No!" - "But...!" - "I forgive you." - One storms off (statistically, mostly Crowley) - one gets in trouble (statistically, mostly Aziraphale but then it's not gets but "gets") - dramatic reunion
seems to be a pattern throughout their friendship, including the emotional bond growing and escalating a bit further every time (yeah, it feels dramatic now, that we see it, but it's all happening and building up over 6000 years, sometimes with decades or centuries between "breakup" and reunion.)
I wonder if we'll get the full story of the 1793 prison scene. So far we've learned: Aziraphale knows that Crowely loves saving him and doesn't mind acting a little helpless/putting himself in danger and he did the "You're right, I am wrong dance" the same year. Combined with the smugness and "Oh, you!" from both sides, and Aziraphale's rather lame reasons why he ended up there and why he unfortunately, unfortunately can neither miracle nor charm himself out of jail? Yeah, that's a story that smells of a dramatic previous setup. Like a "breakup" over sides, for example.
I bet one wild fan theory that what looks extremely dramatic to us is the same song and dance they've been through countless times in 6k years and, if anyone remembers the manga and how it ended, we're steering toward a Ranma 1/2-esque resolution, maybe with more open and blunt handholding but all in all, nothing really changed aside from Crowley finally saying what Aziraphale already knew or at least expected (our angel guy doesn't seem very surprised by the confession and more pained by the timing and context than anything else).
All in all, ep6s2 feels more like the midpoint or late third of a whole season, especially if compared to the pacing and beats of the first season. And now, the second coming?
Sounds like the hint at a future conflict based on the same premise as the main arc of season 1, just from the other perspective (wouldn't be surprised if it included the concept of "The Rapture" in one form or the other, would be funny if Crowley turned out to be behind the belief in The Rapture but not to please Hell but to annoy Aziraphale with paperwork).
Anyway, it's good that things are how they're now. Aziraphale gets to step out of their routine and to experience one of his big "What ifs..." that he'd have wondered about until eternity if he hadn't been given the chance to be a proper angel in Heaven again.
And now, Crowley has to share Earth with Gabriel, Beelzebub, and Muriel, three immortal beings like him, with very different personalities from him and Aziraphale.
Choosing someone as your forever-person over others and lifechoices is only a true choice when you experience options.
If they end up together after another season and choose to stay together on Earth, independent from their backgrounds, it'll be because they truly choose to, and not brought together by proximity loneliness for being two of a kind.
I really hope that's an angle they'll go with in the future.

tgnaerwuirjew I wanted to do this before the new episode came out but whatever. I haven’t seen it yet so my thoguhts after last episode are still unspoiled.
Just some disconnected (mainly character/theme related) thoughts about BCS. Spoilers for all of BB/EC and all the way up through the second previous episode of BCS (Breaking Bad). No spoilers for Waterworks.
* Regarding the Kim/Jimmy relationship, I think the meaning behind it all is that... she was the only one who saw him fully and not just accepted, but loved, all of it. It was truly unconditional love. And that is actually a very unusual and not necessarily good thing. If your partner revealed some truly terrible qualities, you really should reject those qualities of them. And that’s why his relationship with Kim was so important to him but also so ultimately sorta destructive. She saw all the parts of him that were selfish, that cut corners, that even were self-destructive, and she ultimately liked and loved and enabled all of them. (Or too many for it to be healthy, anyway.)
* And the reason why Jimmy needed that, specifically, was because of Chuck. Not just cutting him down and telling him he’ll never change. I think the core of Chuck’s treatment of Jimmy is that he didn’t want him to change. He didn’t think he deserved to be a good person. That sounds paradoxical because it is, but I feel like I see this sentiment all the time lately: that if someone became better, things might improve for them, and they’d deserve that. But Jimmy deserved to suffer the consequences of his past (and future) actions. He wanted to be able to look down on him, that he’d acted right and Jimmy had acted wrongly and karma had been served. Jimmy needed to screw his life up.
* That created that weird urge in Jimmy. Like he was suppoed to be that bad example; like it was justice that he go down bad paths and not come back. But after the villain gets their just deserts, the story is supposed to end. Jimmy’s starts up after he’s already made his bad decisions. That, I guess, is a major theme of this series, that we’re definitely seeing now in the Gene era - what counts as a ‘satisfying ending’? What do bad people deserve? Jimmy feels, in some strange inexplicable way, like it’s better if he’s a bad person. That validates Chuck, and all the people who’ve done the right thing.
* But also, that’s why he was so desperate to have Kim’s love and acceptance. He can’t believe he can change, even if he wishes he could be a Good Person. Kim validated, in a weird and surely unintentional way, that really warped worldview Chuck had thrust on him: that it was good for him to be that kind of person. And that’s why I feel like there’s a combined like... helplessness and spite to how he turns into Saul. Kim thought they were making each other worse? He’ll show her how bad he can be! But not necessarily as, like, a consciously malicious thing. It’s that he has to believe, desperately, that he and Kim can be together, because that’s the only way he can imagine being happy. So he has to convince himself that them being apart is worse than them being together. So when they break up, he falls, and he doesn’t stop himself. Because at least, even if he’s not actively thinking about her, he can convince himself that those times were good and perfect and that’s how life should’ve been for him.
* With Kim... there’s definitely again some element of her struggling with the trauma of growing up the child of an alcoholic. She resents her mother but also learned a lot from her and feels such a complicated mix of shame in that but also teeth-gritted determination. I think, yeah, part of her initial attraction to Jimmy really was that she thought she’d sorta managed to escape that, and she was being sorta ‘generous’ by giving a hand to someone previously in her position. But when she thinks ‘we’re not so different’, it’s always been more true than she’s even been willing to admit. Growing up with her mother caused her trauma, which created those maladaptive urges in her to protect herself Now because nobody else will and later it’ll be too late, and she’s fought against those. But the idea of giving into them, and ‘accepting herself’, is too tempting. Jimmy brought that out of her, too. She wouldn’t have willingly validated those tendencies in herself, but when it’s Jimmy - when she’s being Generous - it comes more and more easily. In that way, they bring out the worst in each other, until they’re so tangled up and warped that nobody else could ever understand them.
* Maybe I’m just projecting internet discourse shit onto Kim lmfaoo, but with Howard in particular - and how they took pains to establish how she gave up her pro bono work to pursue that instead (through how she turns around from heading to that talk with Cliff Main etc. to rework the scam they were pulling on Howard), it feels like... there’s a real rage in her, and a desire for justice, that has been let loose destructively. That’s a big difference between Jimmy and Kim; he feels a lot more self-serving than she is. He’s a soft touch when there are people right in front of him, but when stuff is going on where he can’t see it (or when he’s lost in the throes of a con), the moral conscience in him easily shuts down. Kim, though? her sense of morality is too black and white. That’s why she gets uncomfortable when he talks about them ‘getting away’ with things; he’s accepted that he’s bad, whereas she has to go to lengths to think of herself as good. And her oppressor, of course, is society, and those in power. But the more time she spends with Jimmy indulging those worse sides of her, the more her focus shifts away from helping the people who need it. Instead, it becomes about ‘these people are happy when they don’t deserve to be.’ She makes Howard into a charicature of The Man, convinces herself that she could never REALLY hurt him because he’s sooo privileged and she’s so powerless, and puts her efforts into hurting him and calls it justice.
* Jimmy, by contrast... he wants and needs to be valued so badly. He doesn’t trust his own judgement, so he exports it out to other people, and he’s dangerously carefree about how he does that. He thinks that maybe he can’t be liked in any sincere kind of way; he’s so used to faking friendliness and charm that it would take a huge amount of effort to believe someone really liked him, despite how desperate he is for that. But he can be useful. His only good qualities, he thinks, are his Scumbag type skills, and thus that’s the only validation he can get that he deserves to be alive. It sorta reminds me of how people who have been sexually assaulted can come to believe psychologically that their only contribution to the world is through sex. This - scamming, breaking the law, running cons - is all he’s good for. He should just shut up and do it.
* (And, of course, Saul is trying to shut up the Jimmy in him by drowning him out in a fake persona, but others have covered that better than I could.)
* Some people on reddit were comparing Saul to Jesse. And I think a really interesting point of difference between the two of them is that, by comparison, Saul kinda got out of the ending of Breaking Bad...pretty well? Like. When I watch Breaking Bad, there’s always a part of me that feels a bit tired with the whole ‘nazi meth slave’ arc; it’s just so incredibly awful for Jesse, without being a direct consequence of his/Walt’s actions like the rest of his arc. It feels a bit tragedy porn-ish. (Though Andrea... most of all.) But narratively, I think it actually does serve a purpose? When Jesse escapes at the end of El Camino, nobody can say that he hasn’t been punished enough already. (...okay I’m sure some people do but they’re obviously outliers.) Yes, Jesse did a lot of really awful things, too, but at that point his suffering does feel commensurate with his crimes. And I think even Jesse might be able to see it that way. The most painful aspect of Jesse’s story has always been the guilt; seeing him eat himself away from the inside, and how his attempts to drown himself out or punish himself only push him ever further deeper. I think post EC Jesse will have a fuckton of trauma, but the ‘I don’t deserve this life’ thoughts will be... neutered, at least.
* But Saul hasn’t had that. He’s been through many traumatic situations, but he’s never been directly punished (or at least, not enough to fit the crime). That makes the story’s ending complicated. Jesse got a hopeful ending, while Walt got his death. (And unlike what some people said, I don’t think he got everything he wanted. At least, all you could say is that Heisenberg got what he wanted, but to be happy with that Walt would’ve had to completely abandon all shreds of his former humanity and love for his family etc., which... feels like enough of a tragedy in itself?) Jimmy is so complicated because he’s sympathetic, but way more responsible for what he’s gotten himself into than Jesse usually was, and has suffered far less. Narratively, a totally happy ending feels sorta... Unjust. What do bad guys deserve?
* Honestly, right now I am leaning towards an ending of him going to jail. The show started with him dealing with the repercussions of having been in jail, and now it can end that way. It’s sorta strange that with all the characters who got caught up in the plot, none so far have going to jail over it. (Other than Tuco that one time I guess.) And I can imagine Jimmy in there, working his magic on his fellow prisoners, making a life for himself there. Not... a happy ending. But he’s alive and he’s doing what he’s best at, without being able to seriously hurt too many people. Though I’d like to see him happy... this would feel like a fitting ending. And I think he’d agree with that.
* And now I remember how I meant to start this post lmfao: his events at the end of Breaking Bad (the episode) feel very... self-destructive. He’s just in so much pain and he’s getting his thrills however he can and he either doesn’t care or actively wants to get caught. That’s about the call with Kim, and how he tried to push all of that down and see it as the Good Old Days, but when he slipped and let himself think about it in the present day, it all came flooding back. Being with her is the only way he could ever be happy, and scamming is all he’s good for. There also might be some element that he’s lived in fear for so long, so when the worst finally happened - being recognised - and he pulled a con and got himself out of it, the fear couldn’t stick anymore. But that fear was holding back everything else. Without it, he’s Wanting things again.
* The guy in the house is either going to be dead or dying, due to the drug’s interaction with his cancer medication. But he won’t call the cops on him; that’d make things too easy. Saul will have to sit with what he’s done, knowing that he’s too cowardly to bring about his own consequences deliberately. And also Marion will be involved somehow in a bigger role than so far.
* I keep coming back to Nacho’s death. It actually affected me more than Howard’s death, I think, which seems to be unusual; Howard deserved it less, of course, but Nacho’s is just so... Like, Nacho had always been sorta the Jesse equivalent in BCS, which is a big deal because few characters have ever made me feel as strongly as Jesse did. But Nacho is already much more deeply in The Game than Jesse when we meet him. He’s not a 20-year-old acting tough. Which of course is why he died and Jesse didn’t. (And I did have a think about whether there’s some element to just sorta not even expecting a happy ending for Nacho in part because he’s not white, and like, that’s not all of it, but it could be some...?) I didn’t expect him to survive, going into season 6, but for some reason, over the course of his episodes, I felt a faint flicker of hope... I was almost starting to believe he could really pull through.
* Michael Mando said that Nacho’s final speech was like a call to the gods, or a curse on the cartel family, or something to that effect. Some people have wondered why he didn’t even try to save himself. I don’t think it’s solely to protect his dad, or because he didn’t see any life for himself anymore. I think he didn’t want to kill people, anymore. Nacho had always been very reluctant to hurt people who aren’t In The Game, but in recent episodes he’d seen the impossibility of keeping innoecent bystanders safe. He has the blood of the ordinary workers in Lalo’s compound on his hands. He didn’t want to do it anymore. And you can say that the Salamancas and Mike and Gus aren’t innocent, or even that they deserve to die. But I think that’s beside the point. Like Nacho’s dad said to Mike at the end of the episode, gangsters might try to convince themselves that this death is for Justice, but it’s all the same. Just more death. Nacho had no moral obligation to spare their lives; hell, it was in self-defence. But that’s what makes it a choice. He was tired of killing people. He was tired of this spiral of destructive violence. He wanted absolution. What do bad people deserve?
That’s all I’ve got, I think. Which is more than I expected lmao haha. Just had these thoughts rattling around in me for a week now and had to get them out. Though man, I didn’t even see that ‘what do bad people deserve’ thematic connection until writing it all out, though it feels so obvious now (and very appropriate for a show about a shady lawyer).
And now I’ve gotta watch the next episode and see how dumb I am LOL

Hello! Thank you so much for doing this exchange with me! May I know how my fs will act when they get protective please? db the Capricorn sun, Scorpio moon and Gemini rising ☺️🐢
How will you act in your next relationship:
“I'm gonna do this right, show you I'm not moving. Wherever you go, I won't be far to follow. Oh, I'm gonna love you so. You'll learn what I already know. I love you means you're never, ever, ever getting rid of me.”
I feel as though your next relationship will activate your possessiveness. Your next person is going to be very sweet and affirming to you in a way that you may not have experienced in previous relationships. Visual: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LpPZY7ehMF8 (0:07-0:18). Who always knows the right words to say to make a situation better. Visual: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NA6r0EwZtkg(1:34-1:49) I feel like at first that may have caused you to be suspicious of them. Someone that smooth can’t possibly be genuine, but you quickly realized they generally mean what they say. Which will make you even more astonished that you were able to find and snag this person. You will really not want to let them go and would really see yourself going long term with this person. You want to make sure you do everything you can to keep them and the possessiveness that comes out is because of insecurity. Maybe in previous relationships your partners put you down or made you feel insecure about yourself. Your next partner won’t be like that at all. I feel like they will be a really sunny, happy person but with enough depth to really dive in deep for your relationship with you. Like you I don’t think they are looking for a shallow relationship. They are definitely looking for a long term partnership and I don’t think you’ve had partners previously that want that too. You’ll finally feel as though you are on the same page with a partner that’s willing to build something with you. I feel as though you’ll try really hard to prove how good of a partner you are in your next relationship. You don’t want your other partner to feel as though they are doing all the work. Not like you may have felt in previous relationships. However I feel like your partner will assure you that you don’t need to try so hard. Like you they too will feel very secure in your relationship and happy. They will only see you and you won’t need to worry about others coming in and stealing them away. I feel like that may have happened in previous relationships as well. Visual: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sH4fZc1hvQ&list=PLbvYWjKFvS5pz1c5y-AM7AhBJW1g6_ZyO&index=24 (2:12-3:15). You will eventually find comfort in knowing that your partner wants you just as much as you want them. It will take a lot of reassurance from your partner to get to that point but they never begrudge you for it. They will show you as many times as necessary how committed they are to you. I hope this resonates. Please tell me if it did.
Feedback-
Ah okaay lmao my partner having to reassure me alot makes so much sense sksksk i overthink ALOT so yep😭 probably bc i am insecure as you mentioned. I've never been in a relationship before but yea does resonatss. I am possesive when it comes to the things and the people that i love and care abour. This resonates alot thankyou so so much!
Your reading!
Lmaaao straight up they will ask alot of questions i see them having a 🤨 face when they feel suspicious energy around you. Something about them being jealous of your coworkers? They might not particularly like your co workers and might want you not to hang out with them alot, the ones of opposite gender. I also believe that your fs is someone who might have a reaaaaaalyyyy expressive face and a sharp tongue (what a combination) so they will make sure that the other person knows that they don't like them being near you too lmao. I see them actually being very sassy about it? I keep hearing the word spice and sass they might even like get information on the other person lmao i also see them being someone who will show off themselves alot? Like they might want to make sure that the other people know that THEY don't compare to them, i see them pulling up in a expensive car wearing sexy ass clothes lmao i had a vision and i saw a fendi bag? Also a red car, i don't know much about cards but yea??? Into it by chase atlantic started playing in my head. Very very random but i see them showing up at your work place alot and their love language might actually be quality time? I see them bringing you good, coffee etc and picking you up. They will make sure that the others know that they have no chance with you lmao. I also see them actually telling the other people to back off when you are not around by making a sassy comment. Very random i had a vision of someone like protecting the other person from getting hit by a car and another one of walking on the side where the cars are coming from. They might have earth placements bc i see them usually being very like calm and mind my own business type of person so when they really do open their mouth and act like this it might come off as a big surprise to everyone. I feel as if this person might have an earth sun and air moon? Gemini if you ask me bc I'm telling you their replies? God. I also see them never letting you walk on the wrong side of the road and holding your hand while y'all walk, making sure you have your gloves on while you are baking. I see them being protective and showing their love in the simplest things and i see you smiling at them. This feels so beautiful ok the lakes by taylor swift playing in my head, that song is so peaceful and beautiful at the same time. They will show their love by doing simplest things for you. Acts of service is their love language too i see. I donr necessarily believe they are someone who gets protective or jealous easily but when they do, they will make sure everyone knows it
Random things i got- cruel summer, the ml of till debt do us a part webtoon?, Red colour alot of red colour, sunglasses, expensive stuff?, Wavy brown hair, a white dove.
Hope this resonates!!

Superman and Lois except Jordan is Chris Kent/Lor Zod
Imagine if Superman and Lois if the writers had replaced Jordan with Chris.I love Clark and Lois having twins on the show, but I can’t help but to imagine what if Jordan had been written as Chris/Lor-Zod. Having him be the adopted son, while Jon was the bio son could have added another layer to the family dynamics.
Imagine Chris being born in the Phantom Zone, but somehow ending up on Earth and being adopted by Clark and Lois. Chris due to combination of being rather young when he was adopted and repressing the his early memories because of the trauma of growing up in the Phantom Zone, having an abusive father and being separated from his parents and ending up in a foreign world without anyone he knows, Chris grows up unaware that he is kryptonian and considers whatever memories he might have of his life before his adoption pure fantasy or dreams. Because Chris was a troubled child/toddler, and didn’t grow up on a rather isolated farm, Lois and Clark had a powerdampening chip implanted in him. But it stops working when he is a teenager because his powers have grown too strong. So him and Jon start wondering what is going on with Chris, and their parents come clean.
Chris could have a similiar personality to Jordan: kind and gentle, yet angry and defensive, insecure and withdrawn. Being separated from his parents at a very tender age and previous early childhood trauma from his time with them, would explain why his struggles with mental health, social interactions and forming connections. Maybe he would be diagnosed with cptsd instead of social anxiety disorder (or both)
Jonathan would feel jealous and excluded not just because his brother and father have powers, but also because they are  both full kryptonian and came to Earth from outer space, instead of both brothers being half Kryptonian, adding to his feeling of loneliness.
Meanwhile Chris grows up dealing with being adopted on top of being the only mentally ill person in the family, adding to his feeling of otherness ( I know Clark is adopted too and ppl prob know that bc the Kents couldn't just show up with a baby one day and act like Martha had been pregnant but just hadn't mentioned it. But Chris would probably think that Clark fits perfectly into his family because he is Mr. Small town farm boy, while Chris himself just doesn't, which would just make him feel jealous and/or too damaged) . Once the truth comes out he has to deal with not being human at all, learning that his adoptive dad is Superman, his adoptive parents kept huge secrets from him for years and his birth parents were war criminals (or whatever Ursa and Zod are guilty of being in this continuity).

ok i have thoughts and i'm gonna fix this for my oc canon bc none of this had to happen. under a cut for boruto episode 246 spoilers.
in general my oc canon sticks decently close to canon with some pretty notable exceptions. though i won't get into most of those here, because this is about kagura.
important things to know going into this, however, that Do make a difference regarding my oc canonverse lore:
Mangetsu is alive. He was forced into hiding following the event that killed Chojuuro's parents many years ago, when they were attacked by some bandits or smth. They'd all already fucked off when Ao happened on the scene, Mangetsu ended up taking the fall for it, and he went into hiding. he came out more when Mei took the hat, working largely in the shadows to keep things more or less sane among the village in the very beginnings of reformation.
Hiroki, my oc, is Chojuuro's personal bodyguard-slash-husband, and a big himbo. He's a member of Kiri ANBU and a former member of the Hunter-nin unit. Between him and Chojuuro, they act as Kagura's adoptive parents, where Mei and Ao (also alive and also did not get recruited into Kara) act as his grandparents.
Hiroki and Chojuuro also adopted Ikada following the previous Funato Incident but i dont have much on this yet until we know what happens with Ikada in canon
to start things off -- Hiroki and Mangetsu were assigned by Chojuuro to accompany the kids on their escort mission. when things escalated, they were told to keep a close eye on the kids.
fast forward to the recent events of the arc -- Kagura is stabbed still, yes. Hiroki, who has medical training from his time in the hunter-nin unit and a strong understanding of anatomy, was able to get Kagura stable enough for Mangetsu and the kids to take him back to the village for proper treatment.
Hiroki, then, goes full feral hog on the Funato grunts. lets loose after the first time in YEARS. during the first Funato Incident five years prior to this, he'd nearly been killed and now has a gnarly scar on his neck from it. so, like a normal and sane person, he starts ripping out throats with his bare teeth.
think, like, full berserker mode. blind rage, no thoughts, chakra tingling in every limb and crackling around him. he uses a chakra nature transformation kekkei touta called storm release, or tempest release, which basically. think like. thunderstorm, storms, tempests, etc etc. that's the ✨vibe✨. it's a combination of water, wind, and lightning -- which is why it's a kekkei touta, not a kekkei genkai, which only combines two natures.
ANYWAY im giving backstory here where it doesn't belong. one of these days i'll unleash the Hiroki backstory arc.
he makes quick work of the grunts, hacking and slashing at them with dual katana, with his own bare fists, with his teeth. slaughters the ones that Mangetsu wasn't able to get to. and when the grunts are all taken care of, and when Hiroki is covered head to toe in blood and viscera and whatever the hell else, he sets his attention to Funamushi.
with Funamushi, he takes his time. goes real slow, makes sure he feels the same pain and agony that Kagura felt. after all, he's a whiz with anatomy -- he knows where he can stab and poke and cut without putting the bastard out of his misery. beats the living daylights out of him till his face is damn near unrecognizable.
and he stabs him, centimeters away from his heart. just out of the way enough that Funamushi's life isn't in immediate danger.
"look at me," Hiroki tells him. does the thing where he lifts Funamushi's chin with the hilt of his sword. "I want you to look in my eyes while I kill you."
and then he rips Funamushi's head from his shoulders.
he carries Funamushi's head back to Chojuuro on the ships, tossing it at his feet. "don't ask questions," Hiroki tells him. "everyone is okay and I'll explain later. The most important thing right now is taking these fuckers down."
long story short, Kagura makes it out okay with a nasty scar to show for it. he retires from shinobi life and resumes his old position as Chojuuro's aide/advisor, remaining in the Mizukage office. when he's been recovered enough that he feels comfortable leaving the village, he and Ikada (and Boruto sometimes) travel around to smaller island nations surrounding Kiri, doing what they can to help keep these tinier nations afloat, no pun intended. When they return for good, Kagura takes up a diplomatic role.
Buntan becomes the Seventh Mizukage after Chojuuro retires and keeps Hebiichigo and Kyohou as her personal guards. Kagura remains an advisor.
Chojuuro and Hiroki don't leave the kid's side while he's in the hospital and Misuno, Chojuuro's aide and other bodyguard, keeps having to play mom to these grown ass adults so they don't literally break down. "neither of you will be useful asleep on your feet. go home. get some rest. i'll keep an eye on him. go home."
they loose a lot of sleep in the weeks following the incident. Kagura ends up with some pretty rough PTSD from the whole situation, Ikada barely made it out without being brainwashed into Funato ways of life, Hiroki had to watch his son nearly die and Chojuuro has to hear about it all after the war is over. Ao and Mei had been away when this all happened and had to hear about it well after the fact when they returned, which was not. fun.
anyway
i think thats everything
yeah im normal about this i am SO normal about this

Aww yeahhh time for Kiyo to make his entrance!
I wrote an entire essay about him (again whoops) so it’s very long and under the cut for your viewing pleasure ;)
Kiyo
Age: 29
Hair color: Green
Eye color: Brown
Element: Stars
Kiyo, the Guildmaster of the Asterstone Guild! He only took up the position recently and has had the Guildmaster title for about a year and a half. He was the previous record holder for youngest Guildmaster until that title was stolen by Taku. (Kiyo holds a grudge about it but it’s playful.)
Kiyo, just like lots of other characters in ATS, was taken in by the Asterstone Guild at a young age. He’s similar to Shima in that he has no previous memories before showing up outside the guild one day, battered and bruised. (That marks three characters in this series with amnesia now! Wrow) He grew up under the watchful eye and tutelage of the previous Guildmaster, and because of how attached to him she’d gotten, it wasn’t long before he began to express desires to take over the guild once she retired. After a lot of thought and contemplation she eventually handed over the position to him. This initially resulted in a lot of outrage from the guild members because they did not think Kiyo was suited to be the Guildmaster, but he eventually proved them wrong once he stepped up to the plate and showed them he could act like a true leader!
They did have good reason to be nervous about that, though, as Kiyo is normally a very laid-back and carefree person and is strictly non-violent. This has lead into lots of situations where he’s opted out of fighting, leading his guildmates into lots of trouble when they needed a hand, and they labeled him as both a coward for avoiding necessary battles on missions (which is practically a requirement for a guild member going out on dangerous quests, you sort of have to have a battle prowess to take on any foes) and lazy for not participating when he should. Initially this bothered Kiyo a great deal, but the previous guildmaster assured him that not everybody is suited for battling others, and that he can still pave his own way to success in a non-violent manner. While Kiyo may not have a liking for fighting, he has an extremely smooth tongue and is very capable of talking himself out of sticky situations (mostly by bribing. He is VERY good at that lmao). He has a talent for manipulating others into doing what he wants them to, though he rarely uses this on people he considers friends. When Kiyo’s able to complete a mission and win the day without resorting to using their elemental powers in a fight, his guild members have to stop and think for a second like. Hold on. He just did that so easily, he made it look so simple, we really need to stop underestimating him and calling him totally useless (Kiyo: Hey. HEY).
Kiyo’s pretty close to all of his guildmates despite their constant ribbing—the one person he’s close to that adores him completely is Lacie, because he was the person to bring her into the guild (she was around 10, he was 17), and being the first person to genuinely show her kindness that wasn’t for ulterior motives, Lacie became very attached to him. Kiyo acts like an older brother to her, and Lacie supports him in whatever he does. She was thrilled when he took on the Guildmaster position, and he has a very soft spot for her :’) She always sings his praises to anybody outside who will listen, and gets angry at Emrys the one time he called Kiyo incompetent.
After becoming the guildmaster, Kiyo actually does a good job at taking charge despite the general opinions that he wouldn’t. He’s still very casual about it though and is a bit more flexible with how the guild is run, preferring to let the guild members do things their own way and be less strict about the overall rules. He’s basically got the “Do whatever you want!” and “Just wing it!” outlook, and while a lot of the members don’t like this attitude, a lot of them do. At the end of the day they all do respect him, though! While he isn’t a fighter he’s very good at giving orders and keeping things in check around Asterstone lol
Despite Kiyo’s insistence on staying out of battles, he’s actually an extremely skilled fighter, and is probably the strongest and most dangerous person in the entire guild. The issue with this, though, is that whenever he gets into a fight, he tends to get too “serious” and starts going off the walls, treating the battle as a game and something fun and entertaining. This leads into him not knowing when to stop, and nobody else being able to stop him, so he’s seriously injured other people without meaning to—revealing that he’s actually terrified of violence because he loses himself in it, and why he prefers to stay on the sidelines. It’s only when Kiyo gets really serious in battles that a darker side comes out, and where the star mark in his eye appears. It’s only been seen a few rare times throughout his life at the guild, so nobody really thinks much of it or notices it. It’s only after the star mark appears that Kiyo passes out afterwards, having exerted a lot of power and extremely skilled battle prowess nobody has ever seen before. However, after a grand guild tournament where Kiyo faces off against Taku and gets too into it, revealing his star mark and almost slicing Taku’s head clean off, one of Kiyo’s advisors at the guild starts to look into it out of concern for both Kiyo’s safety and that of others.
In the middle of all this mess, Kiyo meets Toru, and after nearly forcing him to join Asterstone, the two start growing closer 👀 Toru joins the squad of not putting up with Kiyo’s bullshit, but that’s only after he gets over his starstruck fanboy phase. Because Toru is newer to the guild and because he’s a non-elemental not suited for fighting, Kiyo instantly becomes attached to him, finding similarities in their preferences and backgrounds. While Toru does think Kiyo’s an idiot sometimes he treats him very kindly, and is usually the first to defend him when the other members playfully tease him, so Kiyo’s just like you are an angel sent from heaven just for me and I adore you. Still though with Toru being a non-elemental Kiyo stresses about his safety CONSTANTLY, even after Toru gets official training in self defense. If Toru’s in danger Kiyo will blow off literally everything else to go rescue him first, which the other members have to get used to as it happens more often than they’d like akdasbmlads
Later down the line the guild is caught up in something terrible, and find themselves being targeted by a descendant of a great inventor and sorcerer (not Elymas this time tho lol). She’s apparently seeking what’s known as the Velle Nova, and has reason to believe Asterstone is in possession of it. After Kiyo’s forced to fight and unleashes the power behind his star mark, the descendant reveals that Kiyo has the Velle Nova, and then the truth finally comes out…
Kiyo remembers everything about his past. Years ago, his town had been caught up in a great disaster, and he was the only survivor. He was forcibly taken in by several scientists, one of them being the ancestor of the girl descendant. They were attempting to recreate the Velle Nova, one of the great sorcerer Elymas’ inventions, which is said to grant any sort of wish imaginable. They wanted to claim that power for themselves and possess the powers of the universe itself. However every attempt had failed, and without the real Velle Nova they couldn’t achieve what they were after. So they decided to pour all of their research into Kiyo instead, and try to create the weapon inside of a human being. This ended up making a twisted, broken version of what should have been the Velle Nova. But Kiyo couldn’t contain its power—it was going to unravel the universe itself and either destroy everything or alter it tragically into something unimaginable. One of the scientists working with the group realized how awful their experiment was and, being a Time elemental, decided to erase Kiyo’s memories (with some help) and send him centuries into the future so that the rest of the group couldn’t get their hands on him. Hence Kiyo winding up outside of Asterstone with no memories, and the truth behind his star mark. It had been granting Kiyo his wish the whole time—the longing to protect the things he cares about by being able to defeat any threat in his way. Of course with the unstable power that he can’t control, it usually leads into disaster;;
Kiyo, now having recovered his memories, realizes that the same thing is going to happen again, and decides to seal himself off to protect Asterstone and the world before the universe unravels. Cue an epic PMD-esque goodbye scene where he bids farewell to Toru, gives him his trademark scarf, and vanishes, escaping into a dimension between time and space where his power can be contained. *Starts playing I Don’t Want To Say Goodbye*
Toru, absolutely devastated by Kiyo’s farewell, decides he’s going to break time and space to save his man, except there’s one small issue...nobody else remembers that Kiyo even existed, and Toru only managed to by some miracle (and also maybe bc Kiyo handed him his scarf idk some magic soul connection thing). But after a while...a long while, maybe like a year or more...they finally unlock the key to finding Kiyo!!
Toru and Kiyo share a tearful reunion, and Kiyo cries a lot because it had been so lonely sitting in that black hole all by himself for so long. Toru begs Kiyo to come back, and suggests that Kiyo separate himself from the Vella Nova in order to live a normal life, but Kiyo informs him that he and the Vella Nova...are the same. They’re the same combined entity! Kiyo says that if he tries to unfuse, he’ll just end up destroying himself, because there’s nothing to separate, being one singular existence. So Toru points out uh hey since you’re the same thing, don’t you get a say on how your power is used? “It’s your power, Kiyo” yes we’re referencing Tododeku here we go
Kiyo’s like hmm uh yeah I guess you have a point;; so we went through all that for nothing huh. And Toru tells him you’re a fucking moron and Kiyo’s like ahh yes but you loved this moron enough to come rescue him from the void ;) And they kinda sorta confess but not really? Kiyo’s too nervous and Toru’s too distracted trying to figure out how to get them out of there but no worries they sort it out later. Kiyo tells him that hey I’m still dangerous and I could lose control at any given moment and Toru’s just like well I guess we’ll just have to stop you and bring you back to yourself. So with the knowledge that he’s got a whole guild of awesome people backing him up and a boy who broke the laws of the universe to save his ass, Kiyo and Toru escape the rift and finally return home together 💕 And that’s pretty much how their arc ends!
Extra personality traits
-He has a really short attention span so this makes things painfully hard on mission briefings, which leads to Kiyo usually screwing up the mission one way or another
-He often charges ahead without thinking and is the first one to become a target in a bad situation. Nobody really feels bad for him though because most of the time it’s his fault for walking right into it LMAO
-He can be very childish sometimes and most of the time he does it on purpose. His guildmates complain that their leader is a whiny, immature brat
-He is an expert on how to annoy people do not test him oh my god
-He can be incredibly selfish;; He’s gotten better with it during recent years, but he got scorned for it a lot when he was younger. He’s also very emotional, and you can read what he’s thinking like an open book! When his friends can’t read him that’s when they start getting worried.
-He has no experience in romance whatsoever and it’s the one (1) thing that can get him flustered. Nobody at the guild has ever seen Kiyo get mildly embarrassed or caught off guard, so they begin to think it’s impossible to make him blush. Then Toru shows up and ruins everything lmao
-He has a great sense of humor and can always make others laugh! He’s also very mischievous and sometimes plays pranks on other members of his guild.
-He’s very stubborn when he wants something and not in a good way. He also pouts a lot when he gets like this
-He loves his guild and his guild members man :'( If any of them are ever in any real danger he's quick to offer himself up first as a target. He's protective of his friends and will do anything to keep them safe!
-A very very affectionate person. He mostly shows this through physical acts like hugging and generally touching other people. In return he also craves affection and gets very soft when it’s given back to him. I’d probably say he’s a little touch starved despite being in close contact with others all the time lol

Hiiii!!! 💫💕🌸🥳
Can I bother with a question... I was (re)watching that zhang qiling edit (not today) - 'cause it's so cool, btw- and I wondered if Reboot Xiaoge’s your favourite one...? And if you're up to answering, what do you think about the other adaptations? Especially (our small bean) xiao yuliang's interpretation of xiaoge?
🤗🌺💐🐰💕
Hey, my precious patootie hehe ILY it always makes me very happy knowing that you rewatch my vids <3
lol dang it, I was kinda hoping to avoid this question, just because I feel like I'd find it hella hard to explain some things, but I'll try my best and hopefully it'll make some sense xD
I'll start from afar bc I wanna try to explain my reasonings, since I don't want to go without arguments into such highly debated question lolz. I talked about this a bit in my previous asks somewhere, but not broadly as to why that one guy hit all the right spots.
So throughout the books Wu Xie always does this wonderful thing, where he very tangibly describes the feeling he gets when Xiaoge is near, I mean like the aura around him. And he always somehow does it so colorful, that this mix of safety, assurance, calmness, composure and some things I can't quite put into one noun, that he brings to him, I think everyone who've read the books can recognize as this almost magical "Xiaoge feeling". It's not just the way he acts in some dangerous situations or smth like that. It's just everything. You either have it or you don't. And here goes my first argument... to me none of them, except for Huang Junjie and Yuliang have it.
I mean it's not even the obvious stuff, it's like the way they move during the action scenes, the way they even stand and hold themselves, the way they touch Wu Xie, the tone of their voices (both of which are like soothing as fuck), little things you'd think wouldn't matter, but when you watch it and all the puzzle pieces are together, you're like... fuck yeah, thats him.
Also not really that weighty of a point, but to me there's always a joy to see that the actor who plays the character not only gets what's he's playing, but also loves it, bc it's always seen on screen. Usually when some asked about the character they play and what they have in common for example they answer with obvious things like if some character is introverted they're like "well I also don't talk very much" or smth like that, you know what I mean. When I was watching interviews of Yuliang and Huang Junjie I was just smiling so much, bc they've said such things that made me go "yeah, Qiling is safe in their hands".
In Reboot case working in such close proximity with the author definitely also played a huge role here. Bc it kinda gets complicated in some aspects since the books are written from Wu Xie's point of view and you can't only base your picture on his perspective, just bc it's coming from a person who after being basically told "you're my whole world" goes "I'm just a person he randomly passes by in his long life" in his thoughts. Not only he's utterly clueless and dumb when it comes to all this, that he wouldn't notice the way Qiling looks at him and other things, its also not that kind of book, that would go "I suddenly caught poker face looking at me like I'm his whole existence" (and I honestly don't want it to be that book lmao). So you have to take into the account here stuff like what author says to get the whole picture, bc if you look at that from the point of Qiling's view for example, this shit takes a whole wild turn. So I really loved that in UN and Reboot ways of showing Qiling's feelings were well thought out and fit the timeline.
Bc it also works both ways, when it comes to other adaptations. Like Qiling is very and I mean ETREMELY hard to win over. We all know that it was a very long process of gaining his trust and even longer for him to fall for Wu Xie to the point of him being his everything. So what I want in those interpretations is for them to get at which point of their relationships what Xiaoge's behavior makes sense. I do not need any fanservice if it ruins the character, I'll just hate it. The thing that their feelings didn't come out of nowhere is what I LOVE about this ship, bc I'm not the kind of person who believes in "we love for nothing" thing and love at first sight thing (only "got hots for each other" at first sight), bc thats bull. Wu Xie became his everything after a long LONG process of getting to know each other. At the beginning tho he was the same stranger to him as everyone else. So what Reboot Qiling feels for Wu Xie is not what UN's Qiling feels for Wu Xie yet and what UN's Qiling feels for Wu Xie is not what Lost Tomb's Qiling feels for Wu Xie (which at that point was nothing). And I feel like not everyone gets the fact that you can totally wreck the character if you make him behave not the way he behaved in that particular time. Like for example, if someone would make a MDZS adaptation where at the very beginning of their relationships LZ treats WWX the way he treated him after the reincarnation just because "who cares, it's still LZ", that would be dumb af, see what I mean. So Xiaoge having a weakness for Wu Xie in part one is automatically not a Xiaoge to me, bc a huge part of his character and the thing NPSS speaks a lot about is just how IMPOSSIBLE it is for someone to catch his attention and how long it took Wu Xie to get there. So let's just say to me UN and Reboot Qilings for the first time didn't feel like some mashup or character summary/parody, they were Qilings the way they are supposed to be in that part of the story, bc it was the only times someone actually bothered to coordinate it.
Now as to why I prefer one to another. Xiaoge has this thing... the way he holds himself with other people, that is sometimes intentionally and sometimes unintentionally suppressing.
Like everyone knows that if you're a passerby, Qiling genuinely doesn't fucking care and would in fact be pretty harsh about it in terms of treating people like they do not deserve their attention. He won't be like "please, don't bother me", he simply ignored them like an empty space. He is also like that with acquaintances who in his opinion do not deserve his respect like that girl who went hysterical, bc she was upset that he was the only one who wasn't drooling on her like all other men on the crew, Chen Wenjin, Wu Xie's uncles and etc. He's not openly disrespectful unless they trigger him in some way (usually by trying to act superior or later on for not treating Wu Xie right), but if they do, he will in fact remind them their place in sometimes a very rude way, at times humiliating them in front of ppl bc he looks younger than them and talking starts.
He's always doing things on his own terms and hates being told what to do. Like he legit scared Chen Wenjin just with a look and the tone of his voice when he said "let go", when she tried to command him on the mission and grabbed him trying to lecture him about what he should or shouldn't do. That's why Wu Erbai didn't even try anything like this and let him do whatever he needed to do and equally lead the mission in Reboot. And why the scene where Wu Xie 'commands' "Xiaoge, come back" and he immediately listens holds another special place in my heart. Bc he NEVER and I mean NEVER allows such things to ANYONE.
So here I came to a point of why despite loving them both dearly, my favorite Xiaoge is Huang Junjie.
I have this dissonance with Yuliang's version when to me in many scenes it felt like he and Wu Xie are the same age. Like if he was Xiaoge, but in his 20s. In his interactions with Chen Wenjin the dynamics was turned upside down, with him being okay with her telling him what to do and just in general the way she behaved with him. Same as like I didn't always quite believe him to be on par with older generation or even Pangzi, it just felt like he was truly younger than them. Some scenes that I do find extremely cute just don't fit book Xiaoge at all, I'm talking about some moments like his face when Wu Xie gave him food, or him pouting and many things he's done, when you were going "uwu he's a baby". He just never gives me this feeling in the books ever, not just bc he's 100 years old, but sad fact here.. bc he's simply unable to behave that way. Like in the books you'll desperately want to shower him with love, but he's just... I can't quite explain, it's very sad.
I guess it's just you know these characters, who are like hundreds years old, but look like they're 18? I think you have to be very careful with how you write those, so you could deliver that. And in UN because of some changed dynamics and scenes I straight up forgot about it, until Wu Xie threw some joke like "he's an old man" in front of a restaurant.
In Reboot Xiaoge could make Wu Erbai stutter with one move, put Yuliang's version in the same scene, I just don't think it would've worked. Like I'm trying to imagine him telling UN's Wu Erbai what to do and having troubles already haha. Same as I don't think he's capable to be genuinely mad at Wu Xie, and HJJ nailed it esp in one of my fav when Wu Xie was laughing at Pangzi's joke about him catching cold. The look he gave him and how ZYL just retreated was priceless xD. And boy could Qiling get angry with him in the books!
Otherwise I didn't have any drastic fall outs there, like with Joseph's Wu Xie and Ah Ning's death, because that was just too much of a difference, but there were still moments where it was once again this the same scene completely different emotion thing. He was more tolerable to ppl in general here, more pliable. And 50% of the time he gave me the cute lost kitten type, which I just cannot connect with the feeling he gave me in the books. His personality is a cat type 100%, but like seriously "cute baby" is the last word combination I would ever apply to book Xiaoge, but with Yuliang's version it's easily applied. So small bean he is indeed. With Joseph and in UN it works incredibly perfect to me, but the way he is in UN is at times too gentle. And there are lots of scenes where Joseph himself looked at him in a way "you're too cute, let me pinch your cheeks" kind of way, or the way he like sat down next to him on the coast, he was a bit babying him at times. I can't imagine book pingxie doing that. It's just a whole different vibe, the way he takes care of him, the way he lets him take care of him... it's...uuuuuuuuu another vibe (see, I'm so good at explaining lmao).
It's also kinda funny to me, bc HJJ who's the smallest and who irl truly a kitten never once gave me that feeling on screen for some reason. The one babied and loved by every crew and old ppl, who was cutely hiding behind ZYL's back on set, who won't sue an ex who almost ruined his career bc of how stupid she is, bc he "didn't want to hurt her", who according to staff can't even step on a fly, whom CMH was petting for several minutes after he had to hit him with a prop brick bc he didn't wanna do it lmao. I was just like.. ok, this is hilarious, bc I in fact didn't expect him to be a small bean, so watching all the bts made me go LOOOOL. Probably ZYL acting like a 3 year old helped him transform and the age difference problem got lost lmao
As for other adaptations. You know I can't watch seriously "Lost Tomb", I think some ppl probably have some nostalgic feeling about it, but I'm sorry, to me it's fucking hilarious. Like I've already said it looks like some type of twilight parody thing or smth. Soft damselle Wu Xie esp killed me, bc 1st when he ever was that, 2nd in the first book he's salty af, I don't even know this dude in this interpretation, I was like who's this. YangYang I know him from other things, I really don't think it's his role. I know the script and everything is bad. I know the costume and hair are horrendously funny, but it's just I was watching him in those action scenes and was like no... just I'm sorry but I'm not feeling it. I simply just don't know what to say about the whole thing seriously, bc I don't even know where to start. 10 episodes of some salad finished with one mutilated scene from book 6 for no reason the fact that characters are weird themselves also I can't quite tell, did they really just meet or they imply smth else lmao.. I'm sorry, but I do not get it.
I've given LT2 another try after finishing all the books and I've dropped it half way through, Cheng Yi wasn't even close to how I pictured Xiaoge in any aspect. He in fact didn't do anything OOC or off the book or anything, I just was like "not my Qiling". Happens sometimes.
Explore with the note you already know how I feel about this lol let's just forget.
P.S. To be fair here also maybe we should take into account the fact that some got luckier than other with "at which point" Xiaoge they're playing. Like for example, "Wrath of the Sea" and "Qingling Tree" books which is LT2 is not exactly you can say much about Qiling there, he trolls them there in the beginning (in a brilliant way that was totally lost in the adaptation) and he is there in "Wrath of Sea", but it's not the part that can make his character shine in any way, there's not much things happening there that would make you fall for him or get to know him; Yuliang grabbed the fattest piece bc it's middle several books, when they're always together and his character shines the most in terms of clues about past, opening up to Wu Xie and Pangzi, and there are many many events where you can get the picture of what kind of man he is; Huang Junjie grabbed my fav piece of utter devotion, where he's already fully and wholeheartedly belongs to Wu Xie, that I'm just weak for. So like... there's also that I guess xD.

JJK Chapter 137 Theories/Questions
I noticed something about Inumaki while reading and.... I’m a little confused about what the implications are? So, naturally, I wrote up this super long post exploring different theories, lmao
Spoilers primarily for chapter 137 of the manga, but there are definitely spoilers for further chapters.
so... what’s going on with the bandages used on Inumaki’s injury?? When I first saw this panel, I was immediately suspicious bc his bandages/wrappings look exactly like a seal:
Tumblr media
I even went back to chapter 1 and the markings on Inumaki’s bandages look nearly identical to the seal on Sukuna’s finger:
Tumblr media
The previous uses of these type of seal/talisman have been to “seal curses and mediate cursed energy,” and I can only assume that this is a possible use for the seals on Inumaki’s injuries as well.
So, I guess my real question is: why would they seal Inumaki’s injury? I thought about it a little more, and have come up with some possible solutions as to why:
The first (and weakest) theory is:
1. Shoko’s healing techniques use curse seals to function. Or, she just uses curse seals as bandages for injuries done by curses, as a means of preventative care. Meaning, she wrapped Inumaki’s wounds in talisman in order to ensure that no adverse reactions would come from Sukuna injuring him.
This theory is like, the least satisfying. But it would also be super funny if it was correct, because then it would mean that I’m really just overthinking this whole thing. However, knowing Gege Akutami’s storytelling methods, it feels more important that Inumaki is wrapped up in curse seals than just “Shoko is being a cautious, good physician.”
Additionally, Shoko’s technique apparently allows her to “restore destroyed limbs” (not sure how true this is, given that we haven’t seen it in the manga), so... why isn’t Inumaki’s limb restored?
This question leads me to my second theory:
2. Sukuna’s Domain Expansion in Shibuya really fucked Inumaki’s shit up (y’know, past the whole ‘cutting his arm off’ thing) and has left him with some bad cursed symptoms. Since his injury is sealed, this theory assumes that Sukuna’s use of his “Cleave” attack during his Domain Expansion is leeching Inumaki of his cursed energy. These paper seals, in this case, would be to “fend off poison with poison by using one curse [the talisman/seal] to seal another [Sukuna’s hypothetical Domain Expansion curse].”
The issue with this is that nowhere in the manga has Sukuna’s “Cleave” attack left symptoms on its victim.... besides death. Cleave is a slashing attack that adjusts itself depending on the target's toughness and cursed energy level, and it usually cuts its opponent down in one fell swoop. Clearly, this was not the case with Inumaki, who seemed to have barely been in range (literally just his left arm, poor guy) of Sukuna’s Doman Expansion:
Tumblr media
So, is it possible that Sukuna’s use of Cleave on Inumaki’s arm is leeching him of his cursed energy and this is the reason why he needs to seal it? I’m not sure; it seems like Inumaki is literally the only survivor of Sukuna’s Cleave attack that we know of. It’s a possibility, and maybe the most probable explanation? This could also be a great explanation/justification as to why Shoko (or even Yuuta?) is unable to restore Inumaki’s limb (again, this is assuming that the jjk wiki is right in claiming that Shoko’s abilities can restore limbs)
However, I have more theories. My third (and most complex) theory is:
3. The elders/higher-ups of the Jujutsu world are terrible (duh) and are using Inumaki as an incentive for Yuuta to act according to their will. The following pages in the manga (chapter 137) seem to support this idea:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This chapter begins with Yuuta killing curses to prove to the elders that he can be trusted as Yuuji’s executioner, and that he will follow their commands. But why would Yuuta even need to gain their trust? Couldn’t they get someone else to execute Yuuji? Clearly not, if they choose Yuuta over anyone else; in my mind, this means that Yuuta is the only person strong enough to execute Sukuna’s vessel, and so, the elders need to be completely certain that Yuuta will kill Yuuji instead of joining his side. In their minds (and rightfully so, lmao), if Yuuta and Yuuji are on the same side and against them, it can mean serious trouble.
So, clearly, the elders need to ensure that Yuuta will kill Yuuji. They even have Yuuta enter a binding vow with them to be certain that he kills Yuuji. In my mind, using Inumaki in his injured state is a perfect incentive to make sure that Yuuta follows their orders. As of right now, the specifics of the binding vow that Yuuta enters haven’t been disclosed; so, perhaps Inumaki is part of said vow?
Binding vows with others have to benefit both parties; if Yuuta kills Yuuji (benefitting the elders), then Yuuta must also benefit from the other party in return. Given the fact that Yuuta brings up Inumaki and his injury right after proposing a binding vow, I want to assume that Yuuta’s profit from the vow would involve Inumaki in some way. Perhaps he gets access from the elders to heal Inumaki? The possibilities are endless.
For a boy who values the relationships he has with his friends (arguably his closest friend?), using a threat towards Inumaki/the promise of helping Inumaki is the perfect motivation for Yuuta to kill Yuuji.
Personally? This is my favourite theory because it’s angsty and I live for this kind of stuff. Not only this, but it also feels like a possibility because of the strife that’s going on in the Jujutsu world right now. If the elders can’t trust Yuuta to perform his duties as Yuuji’s exorcist, then it makes sense that they would use Inumaki as leverage to ensure that Yuuta does what he’s told to.
But, then, even more questions are raised at this point:
1. what do the curse seals do to Inumaki, if they are put on him?
In this case, it seems like the curse seals wouldn’t be used in the same way as the previous theory (which is to fight a hypothetical Sukuna curse off). Rather, these curse seals would probably be used to stop Inumaki from using his cursed energy entirely; just like how they stopped the cursed energy in Sukuna’s fingers early on in the story.
This theory would explain why neither Shoko nor Yuuta could heal Inumaki’s arm-- assuming that the talisman isn’t there directly because of something that Sukuna is doing to Inumaki. We see in Volume 0 that Yuuta’s reversed curse technique saves Maki’s incredibly mangled leg and fixes it to its original state. Additionally, even more recently in Chapter 143, Yuuta uses the same technique to heal Naoya:
Tumblr media
This theory leads me to believe that Yuuta can (again, assuming that Sukuna isn’t actively leeching Inumaki’s cursed energy or something else) heal Inumaki’s arm, but is unable to do so because of the higher ups in the Jujutsu world. If they are using Inumaki as a pawn to ensure that Yuuta kills Yuuji, of course they wouldn’t let Yuuta heal Inumaki. (Now, this is all assuming that Yuuta is able to fix injuries hours or days after they occur, as we’ve only seen him heal injuries right after they have been done. This could be another reason why Yuuta can’t heal Inumaki’s arm, lmao).
My biggest counter to this is: what happens if Inumaki just... takes the curse seal off? wouldn’t they stop being effective?
So, (and this makes the most sense, tbh), perhaps the curse seals are there because of some funky Sukuna business (as mentioned in theory 2), which serves as a primary motivator for Yuuta to enter a vow with the elders in the first case. In this way, theory 2 and 3 would be combined. If Sukuna is hurting Inumaki in some way, the elders can be using this to coerce Yuuta into a binding vow that would help Inumaki once Yuuta carries out his executioner duties.
One of the possible problems I have with this theory is that it is maybe very contingent upon where the fuck Inumaki is even at. In chapter 144 when everyone is reunited with Maki, Inumaki isn’t there. But, Inumaki is (probably) awake and recovering from his injuries in the single panel we see of him in chapter 137. So... where is he? If he is anywhere besides at Jujutsu High, I assume he is in the possession of the higher ups. Which would explain a lot, and how particularly downtrodden Inumaki looks in the panel (besides the fact that he got his arm cut off, obviously). Yet, nobody seems too concerned about him, which maybe means that he’s probably (hopefully?) with everyone at Jujutsu High-- just offscreen with Panda or smthn).
But, to defend this theory, Yuuta seems to be in contact with both the elders and Jujutsu High, so maybe it’s the same deal with Inumaki? Inumaki doesn’t necessarily need to be in the possession of the higher ups in order for them to infringe upon him. Especially in tumultuous times like these, in which Gojo and Principle Yaga are not there to protect the students, and there is now some sort of Culling Game going on?? Essentially, what I’m getting at is that the higher ups are extremely in power right now. Even if Inumaki isn’t with them physically, they still may have a large influence over what happens to him.
One of the actual problems I have with this theory is that Yuuta “killing” Yuuji and being unable to supply his body would mean trouble for Inumaki. In chapter 143, Naoya gets healed by Yuuta in exchange for promising to tell his superiors that Yuuji is dead... but, would they believe this without evidence (aka, Yuuji’s body)? If they do, then good! Yuuta saves both Yuuji and Inumaki, and all is well. But if they don’t believe this and demand Yuuji’s corpse, then Inumaki is definitely in danger once the higher ups find out. Or, if the binding vow didn’t register Yuuji’s temporary death by Yuuta, that would mean great harm would be done to Inumaki, probably.
I’m just not sure if Yuuta would even bargain Inumaki like that? But, the fact that Yuuta makes Naoya tell their superiors, rather than reporting directly to them himself seems to prove that Yuuta believes Naoya’s word is enough. Regardless, Yuuta seems confident that the binding vow he made with the superiors was completed by “killing” Yuuji-- regardless of whether Inumaki is involved with the vow or not.
Granted, it seems that Yuuta has changed a bit since coming back, so we’ll see. Maybe he is extremely confident in himself now, to the extent that he is willing to bargain something like Inumaki’s wellbeing in a binding vow. Who knows?
Of course, I have to confess that I understand that I am giving little mind to translation when giving these theories; I read the English translated version of the manga, so I can only make assumptions with the material I have. Maybe I’m missing something crucial because of this?
Anyways. These are the theories I have right now! I know this post was extremely long-winded, but if I didn’t write all this out, I was going to Explode. This is literally all I have been thinking about since I saw the panel with Inumaki. If anyone else wants to talk about this by adding to my ideas or poking holes in them, PLEASE do. I need to know that I’m not the only person thinking about this, omg.

heyy Megan, I'm trying to do a character study on Anakin but im finding very limited information online. what do you think are some of his worst and best traits? his personality, humor and like his values? thank you so much,, hope you have a good day/night
omg hi!! thank you for asking me!!
*cracks knuckles* let’s get into it
anakin skywalker character analysis
best traits:
intelligence, overall skill, curiosity
anakin was building droids from scraps when he was a child. he spoke huttese and basic from a young age, as well. he’s an insane battle strategist, wonderfully skilled in battle/with a lightsaber, and incredible pilot! he can pick up new skills quickly, as well. i’m just gonna link this post by @chokemeanakin bc it just sums it up real nice.. but yes smart boy love him
compassion, capacity for emotions, empathy, understanding
anakin feels things deeply. i’ve talked about this a lot before lol. but yeah he is frequently in conflict over the sheer weight of the emotions he carries. further, as a jedi, this is not something his peers could relate to. but he always tries to be there for his friends and would do anything to ease their pain. and i think that anakin seeks to understand others. he’s spent so much of his life feeling alone and like no one related to him; he wants to know how other people work, feel, and think.
loyalty, friendship, caring
anakin is so fucking loyal to those he loves. and, tying into my previous point, he loves deeply. he cares, he always has. he treats droids as humans and forms attachments, even though they may be forbidden. he held onto that need for love, for connection even after he joined the order. and he would defend those he loves til the very end...
selflessness, protectiveness, bravery
anakin would literally dive headfirst into danger to save someone he loves. he doesn’t care about hurting himself or honestly whatever happens to him, as long as those he cares for are safe.
worst traits:
impulsivity, recklessness
i think we’ve all seen anakin be a bit impulsive at times... sometimes, he just doesn’t think everything through. this is especially clear when someone he loves is in danger. anakin’s lost so many people that when he’s faced with the threat of losing another, his judgment can become clouded.
insecurity, jealousy, fear
anakin is frequently jealous, which stems from his insecurities. he was probably conflicted a lot; brought into the order as a young child and told he was the chosen one. the weight of the galaxy was placed on his shoulders and, yet, he was held back in classes as a padawan, he didn’t make rank (canonically). i think these things are what allowed palpatine to manipulate him; palpatine knew anakin was afraid, insecure, and, yet, arrogant (my next point dw). he tapped into this and because anakin and the council did not have much mutual trust (aside from like obi-wan), it was easier to get to him. especially because palpatine used anakin’s fear of losing padme and his unborn children to do so. fuck palpatine bro-
arrogance
yes, anakin was insecure. yes, he was also arrogant. let me explain myself. he occassionally rushes into things without thinking, thinking he can handle them. i think a lot of this stems from being told he was the chosen one from such a young age. that title combined with his skill?! it makes sense he’d internalize it. i am now going to stop myself before i rant about how the gifted education system is a fuckfest. this is coming from someone who spent years in that program. anyway-
personality/overall rant about his life/motivations:
i think i summed up a lot of his personality within the best and worst traits because i got ahead of myself but im going to say some more!! i think a lot of anakin’s personality is dependent on his deep capacity for emotions. you can see that throughout ROTS, he was conflicted almost all the time. he grew up as a slave and all he wanted was to protect his mother. he built droids to help her and competed in podraces to tryand get them anything that could help.
then, he was taken to the order. suddenly, all these amazing traits he has make sense!! but then the person who’s supposed to train him (qui-gon) dies after anakin’s only known him for a short period of time. anakin’s attachment issues are abundant (i don’t think i need to explain that one) so of course he grows close to obi-wan! but obi-wan was trying to be strong for anakin. even though obi-wan struggled himself with attachment, he tried to be strong and put up a front as a “good” jedi for anakin to look up to. while this was helpful, anakin probably just felt more conflicted, as no one in his life could relate to the bredth of emotions he felt. this caused him to be more introverted and withdrawn (i talk about that in this post)
then, he loses his mother, she dies in his arms. the only person he’d wanted to protect from a young age, who he left to join the jedi, dies in his arms. he blames himself for this, thinking he should have gotten there faster, should have done something more. he probably also blamed the jedi, to at least some extent. why do these powers matter if they can’t save the people he loves? i believe he acted out of anger, killing the tuskens, because (at least to some degree) of the jedi. instead of teaching him how to express his emotions (pain, fear, loss, grief, etc.), they train him. to some degree, he might think all he’s good for is these skills. so he acts out of anger, slaughtering them.
and then finally he finds someone who loves him in the way he wants to be loved. padme stays by his side, even after he killed the tuskens. she sees the good in him and treats him as a man, not a prophecy. but once again, this motif of fear remains! he has to hide this love, one of the only pure and good things in his life! he has to live in fear every second of every day because, if the council finds out that he found happiness and love, everything is ruined.
but then he starts getting the vision’s that padme will die. and not just padme, now his unborn children could die, too. the one thing he has that is good and purely his could now be ripped away. he knew he was helpless, knew there was nothing he could do to stop it by himself. the council isn’t that helpful, telling him to learn to let it go with the force. while that might help any other jedi, it just pushed anakin away. he would never be able to just surrender and let go to the force, not when the life of his entire family is at risk!
and he finds palpatine, someonoe who has spent years trying to manipulate him. but palpatine is smart, he’s cunning. anakin didn’t know what the real intentions were and, truly, he probably didn’t want to know. he was blinded by his fear and if anything could save padme, he would do it. then the council try to get him to spy on palpatine. again, conflict. anakin’s loyalty is repeatedly questioned and pushed and prodded, he was probably so confused! he didn’t know who to trust. but, when you combine the current situation with his backstory with who he is and what he cares about, it makes sense why it all happened.
this is what i mean when i say conflict. he was pulled in a million directions constantly. and we all know how his story ends and i don’t want to cry so i’m not gonna detail it...
also: i’m not saying any of this excuses all of his choices, but it does explain them.
humor:
lowkey a dork
he is. and i love that about him. you can see this in the way he flirts with padme sometimes... like floating the pear to her and the whole “i don’t like sand” thing. he’s a fucking dork. can’t exactly blame him nor do i hold it against him! he didn’t have many close friends growing up and he was like pining for padme for years so it’s not like he spent that time creating a playbook
he’s also witty!
i think this comes with his intelligence; he’s witty and he’s quick. example: “general grievous, you’re shorter than i expected.” i mean he’s no sass-king obi-wan kenobi but anakin definitely can hold his own in a verbal sparring match!
also i headcanon him as having horrible puns but loving them!
values:
love, friendship, connections
at his core, anakin just wants to find someone who understands him and his emotions. who can relate to him. he wants those connections; in fact, he actively seeks them out. love is a key part of his identity. i talk about this in this post about his love languages so imma just link it there!
success, validation
tying into his determination, anakin wants to do well! he pushes himself and i think he’s a perfectionist, too. you can see this in the way he holds himself as a general; he doesn’t slack off, doesn’t not care. he understands the responsibility he has in that role and he takes it seriously! and just in his overall skill level, even though he was a bit of a child-prodigy, he clearly spent a long time training. he probably also had some imposter syndrome going on and was constantly trying to prove his worth.
----
uhh yeah i think i got everything?? yes?? he’s so complex and i legit love him immensely. doing character analysis for anakin is my favorite thing in the entire universe! if anyone has anything they want to add, please feel free!!
