Okay but like, aside from how huggy touchy sonic is, can we just talk about how Shadow responded here? He's not expressing himself to a bunch of strangers for sure, but he's also not pushing Sonic away.

When the two first reunited in the void, Sonic hugged Shadow- and Shadow shoved him away. This time, Shadow looked shocked by the sudden touch but we watch him relax surprisingly quickly and just let Sonic hold him like that. His eyes relaxed and he just stayed there, he didn't even do any attempts to pull away, he just stayed there. He was honestly just fine letting Sonic be this wayyyy too close and honestly a little in his face.

He closes his eyes and scrunched his face up a bit but thats kind of it for any short of intolerance on his end, and we know for sure he could've expressed it so much more clearly. But he didn't because it's Sonic. He's so patient with Sonic, oh my heart. His eyes are completely relaxed and he just looks very "this is what I have to deal with =_=" kinda face, it's moreso his neutral face tbh.

Also little tidbit, I love how they animated his inhibitor ring wiggling from the force of Sonic hugging onto him again

The first time Sonic hugged onto him, Shadow was sure he wasn't taking things seriously, was sure he was being careless and putting no thought to the fact that their home was gone. He'd never seen Sonic down. This time? Shadow has seen Sonic frown, he's heard his distressed ramblings, he's seen Sonic broken up from this, he knows Sonic cares and wants to listen. He's not mad at Sonic anymore, he understands him better. Since he knows Sonic a bit better, that hug doesn't feel strange and empty anymore.

So, now he just let's Sonic pull him in, no complaints or glares or shoves, he just awkwardly stands there instead after processing what Sonic was doing. He's not even mad or uncomfortable exactly, just doesn't do anything.

So you know when for the last year and a half content creators have been shitting and pissing on the game as a full-time job and the amount of negativity and ragebait content became the only thing to make content about for them? Well they certainly won't take the blame, but I will let it be known. These people either don't understand the influence they have or they do and they're doing it on purpose, and I don't know which of these two options is worse, but I am 100% confident that their campaign of rage and hate contributed to this.

You don't base your entire community around constantly hating everything about the only game you play (despite clearly not enjoying it anymore) and somehow avoid galvanising thousands and thousands of people into perceiving the game negatively. Imagine being employees who have barely worked there for 2 years and the only community reception they've seen is 24/7 hate train for their work and then they get fired because of "poor reception" and "drop in popularity." How can they not take that personally? I am absolutely devastated for these people who delievered a banger product and who were met with an unrelenting barrage of toxic gamer children which ended up having more sway over their boss than them.

Which brings me to the next bit and that's FUCK THE CEO. He is now my mortal enemy #1. I am projecting psychic blasts directly into his brain. What an absolute spineless coward who is more willing to bow down to fucking gamers than to protect his own employees. This is absolutely rage inducing because this has happened before. Hey! So I've been following you since you posted a lot about good omens in 2019ish? I remember you talking about wing fics vividly, but I just want to ask:

How are you doing after season 2?

Good! I enjoyed season 2, and I look forward to seeing how things resolve in season 3.

I think there are a lot of folks upset about various things, for various reasons, a lot of which boil down to "the season didn't go how I wanted it to/thought it should go" or "the season didn't end wrapped up neatly like S1 did." Neither of which, imo, are fair judgments of a season that a) isn't that person's story and b) was meant to be a bridge not an ending. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, of course, and to their feelings, but I do wonder how many have taken honest assessment of those feelings and opinions.

In my opinion, it's unfair to claim a story is bad JUST because it didn't do what you wanted it to do. It's not a bad story just because characters didn't act how you predicted or wanted, either. Some of the responses I've seen hinge almost entirely on "but canon didn't do what fanon/I decided is best" usually with the caveat of "before I even saw the season" and that's... ignoble at best. It's fair to criticize poor storytelling, but I feel like you have to have the whole story, or most of it, to do that, and we don't have that. We're actually smack in the middle of the story, by my judgment.

This season was never meant to be The Whole Story, we have known for a long time that there is a season 3 planned (whether or not it's ever able to come to fruition is a separate issue, it has been planned since a long time ago). As such, I don't think it's fair at all to the story to be angry that the season didn't stop at a nice, neat, happily-ever-after, because this isn't the end of the story.

To quote one of my favorite authors, Peter S. Beagle: "Things must happen when it is time for them to happen. Quests may not simply be abandoned; prophecies may not be left to rot like unpicked fruit; unicorns may go unrescued for a very long time, but not forever. The happy ending cannot come in the middle of the story."

They cannot have a happy ending until they've fixed the problems, and even before the end scene there, problems abounded. The unicorns are still unrescued. It's still the middle of the story.
