And now for something completely different:
I was never a big VRChat player, but there are some events happening this year I'd like to attend. The tools for building avatars are so much better these days, so I'm putting something together. This is still very much a WIP; the unity components need polish and she needs an actual paint job and some more facial expressions. Nevertheless, I'm quite pleased with this!
Once I finish this model, I will be open for a limited number of avatar commissions.

Protopelma van Els et al., 2023 (new genus)

Meaning of name: Protopelma = first sole [in Greek, referencing the closely related genus Neopelma]
Species included: P. chrysolophum (Serra do Mar tyrant-manakin, type species, previously in Neopelma)
Age: Holocene (Meghalayan), extant
Where found: Forest edges in southeastern Brazil
Notes: Protopelma is a genus of manakins, a group of small, primarily fruit-eating birds from the American tropics. The males of most manakins are brightly colored and use elaborate displays to attract mates. In Protopelma and its close relatives, however, males and females look alike and are both relatively drab in color.
The Serra do Mar tyrant-manakin has traditionally been classified in the genus Neopelma, and in fact was once considered a subspecies of Wied's tyrant-manakin (N. aurifrons). Although it certainly looks very similar to the members of Neopelma (differing mostly in having a generally smaller bill and distinct vocalizations), recent genetic studies have found that Neopelma proper is more closely related to the genus Tyranneutes. One way to revise the taxonomy of these birds to align with their phylogenetic relationships would be to lump Tyranneutes with Neopelma, but given that the species of Tyranneutes are highly distinctive due to their very small size and short tail feathers, the authors of a new paper prefer to keep them as a separate genus. A new genus is therefore needed for the Serra do Mar tyrant-manakin, and these authors coin the name Protopelma for this purpose.

Beginning in 1978, the Toyota Motor Corporation launched the Toyota Supra, a sports car and grand tourer. The Latin prefix supra, which means "above," "to surpass," or "go beyond," is the source of the name "supra." The first four Supra models were built between 1978 and 2002. The 2024 Toyota GR Supra is the most recent version of the Supra. There are 4 different grades available, including:
• 2.0, which has an estimated MPG of 25/31 and a base MSRP of $45,540.
• 3.0, which has an estimated MPG of 23/31 and a basic MSRP of $54,500.
• 3.0 Premium, which has an estimated MPG of 23/31 and a basic MSRP of $57,650.

A 3.0L twin-scroll single-turbo inline 6-cylinder engine with 382 HP/368 Lb.-Ft.

It comes with a rear-wheel drive and a 6-Speed iMT or 8-Speed AT transmission option. Additionally, an AVS (Adaptive Variable Suspension) is an option.

ENGINES

From 1991 to 2004, the twin-turbocharged 2JZ variant was made. The Toyota Aristo V (Japan) and Toyota Supra (JZA80) were the first vehicles to feature it. The engine's block, crankshaft, and connecting rods are all 2JZ-GE components1.
• 2023 Toyota GR Supra: 255 HP are the standard horsepower. The 2.0L twin-scroll single-turbo engine2 produces that amount of horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. The 3.0L twin-scroll turbocharged inline 6-cylinder engine has 368 lb-ft of torque and 382 HP, thanks to an improvement to the 3.0L model.
• 2024 Toyota GR Supra: This vehicle is powered by a 2.0 L/1223-cubic-inch intercooled turbocharged premium unleaded I-4 engine. It has a top speed of 1550 RPM and a top torque of 295 HP at 5000 RPM3.

This box set consists of 3 Audio CDs, 54 tracks in total, 16 bit/44.1 kHz. White CDs, and transparent trays for discs 1 and 3. The black plastic tray for disc 2 looks and feels cheap and brittle.
The front cover and the booklet show printing with an iridescent effect. Printing quality of the booklet is good, but the paper is rather thin, and the text of the other side can be seen. Includes some words from S. Sagisu about his creative process and the composing and recording of the music, as well as lyrics of the songs. Disc 3 contains alternate versions of some songs. Note that, even if it’s a soundtrack, it does not include One Last Kiss nor Beautiful World by Utada Hikaru.
Disc 2 is the one I like the most (What if?, The Path, Pensées Intimes, Ave Verum Corpus, Voyager), but disc 1 has also some tracks I like a lot (Paris, Prettiest Star, Lost in The Memory).
I got it for around $40 U.S.D., but I think it can be found cheaper now. I do recommend it.

Elaine Chao and the Evolution of Autonomous Car Policies
In the midst of technological innovation and regulatory challenges, Elaine Chao, the former U.S. Secretary of Transportation, played a pivotal role in shaping the policies surrounding self-driving vehicles.
