I never in a million years would've thought that I'd have comfort characters that are literally just two bestfriends and their frenemy, three ghost guys, an adorable kid, and an awesome dad. Julie and the Phantoms is the very definition of comfort. It's love and loss all rolled into one and tied together with a beautiful bow of hope. That little memory filled garage feels like home.

Thinking about how when the boys came in while the Molina’s were eating dinner, they saw Tia and probably just immediately assumed that she was Julie’s mom, and so when Julie tells them that her mom is dead, it was probably an even bigger bombshell dropped on them

Phantom Carols
For the @jatp-adventevent prompt: Who does all the cookies and gingerbread house?
Day Sixteen: Let It Dough <-AO3!
Alex poofed into the Molina family kitchen and immediately regretted it. Every surface seemed to be covered, and Julie was there in the middle, tongue stuck out of the corner of her mouth as she happily stirred away at a bowl.
“Did a flour bomb explode?” he asked, taking in the dusting of white powder on the counters.
“Oh hey Alex, it’s Christmas baking season!” Julie replied. “I got a little carried away, but don’t worry, it’ll all get cleaned.”
Alex took in the ingredients everywhere, the dishes filling the sink, the oven humming with a tray of something inside. “How many cookies are you making?”
“At least ten different kinds,” Julie offered. “I give them away as gifts to my friends and then there’s more to eat when the family comes over on Christmas. I’d offer some to you and the guys but…”
“We can’t eat them,” Alex finished. “D-do you want some help baking them though?”
“You like to bake?”
Alex flushed but nodded. “Yeah, before everything, my mom and I made cookies every year at this time. Most to give away to the parishioners during Midnight Mass, but we also kept a few, just for the family. As I got older my dad discouraged it, but it was something I really enjoyed doing.”
“Well then roll up your sleeves!” Julie encouraged. “The sugar cookies are in the oven, these shortbreads are almost done, and then we can start on the gingerbread people!”
“You making a house too?” Alex snarked, starting to sort through the chaos in order to help her.
“Nah, store-bought for that is fine. We just have to watch it because Carlos likes to steal the candy and leaves the cookie part alone,” Julie cautioned.
“I mean, I don’t blame him there. No one really likes gingerbread.”
“Don’t tell my aunt that, she’s super proud of her recipe,” Julie replied.
Soon enough the mess was more organized or dealt with, the dishes cleaned and drying, and cookies were cooling on the rack. Alex helped Julie measure and mix all the ingredients. He still didn’t really like the taste of gingerbread, but he would admit that these smelled delicious, all sweet from the molasses and spicy from the ginger, cloves, and nutmeg. He cut out all the little people, half girls, half guys and put them in to bake.
A while later, when the baking was done, the kitchen disaster sorted, and the cookies cooled, it was time for Julie’s favourite part; decorating! They whipped up several varieties and colours of icing, and went to town.
Snowflakes, snowmen, trees, and presents all came to life as they did the sugar cookies. The shortbreads just got a fine layer of sprinkles. But the gingerbread people was where Julie went all out.
She held up her first one; in a sleeveless blue shirt, black pants and an orange cap with a few wisps of brown sticking out. “It’s Luke!” she proclaimed. “You wanna do one for Willie?”
Alex beamed and nodded, grabbing one of the girl figures that the skirt had been shaved down and went to town. Sure his design skills were a bit lacking, but it was a good enough cookie likeness for him.
From there, Julie did Reggie, Flynn, and Carrie cookies while Alex tackled her family ones. He was especially proud of the one for Victoria, as it was the neatest and he hoped his cookie did her proud. He also did a sneaky Julie cookie, grinning as he dusted the icing with purple sparkles.
“Here’s you,” Julie offered, handing him a cookie that did look like him, down to the pink shirt and fanny pack. He couldn’t help but smile at it, how lovingly done it was, but that was Julie, full of more love than she knew what to do with.
“Bet I’m delicious,” he commented wryly. “Thanks Jules.”
Julie leaned in, grabbing him in a fierce hug. “You are more than welcome. I wish you could get to enjoy them, so I really appreciate you helping me knowing you can’t.”
“I had fun too,” Alex said, squeezing her tight. “I only ever got to eat them on Christmas when I was a kid anyways, so it’s not such a big loss.”
“Hey guys,” Willie said, poofing into the kitchen, waving. Alex and Julie broke apart, grinning at him. “Oooh, cookies!” He snatched up a shortbread and took a large bite, moaning at the taste. “It’s delicious!” he said through the crumbs.
“Ummm… how can you eat outside the club?” Alex asked.
Willie shrugged. “Christmas magic?”
Alex picked up a sugar cookie and brought it to his mouth, gently nibbling on it. The flavour of it burst across his taste buds, and he beamed at Julie. “I can eat the cookies!” The two of them bounced up and down, then stopped so Alex could truly savour the taste.
“We’re not telling Luke and Reggie right?” Alex asked after he’d polished off a few select treats, Willie and Julie also helping themselves.
“Not if we want them to last until Christmas,” Julie replied with a wink and took another bite of her snickerdoodle. “But we’ll give them their gingerbread men later, and see what happens.”
“Ten bucks says they’ll be too terrified by the idea of eating themselves to even try,” Willie wagers. Alex agrees, but that doesn’t stop him from snagging a gingerbread star to sample, and dammit if tia isn’t right about her recipe being the one good gingerbread one.
He’s tempted to take a bit of his Alex cookie, but Willie beats him to the punch, scooping it up and devouring half of it in one bite. “Delicious!” he says with a wink and Alex is certain his face is as bright pink as his hoodie at that.
But he snags the Willie cookie and repeats the motion. He’s not sure what’s tastier; the cookie, or Willie’s expression.

4 and 19 have tickled my fancy!
4. Do you have any OCs? Do you have a story for them?
I have some original fiction I've worked on for years on and off but I don't feel like it's at a point I'm ready to talk about them yet. When it comes to my fics my notable characters would be:
Josie - Julie's older cousin, Victoria's daughter, named for Josie and the Pussycats from the 2000s movie. Doesn't like labels but definitely has a thing for...
Sammi - Reggie's younger (older) sister, runs a bakery, brings croissants to a confrontation 😂
Queenie - Carrie's mom, Bobby's girlfriend/wife, pop star, producer, reputation as heartless but actually sweet and wise underneath all of the bravado
I also have one coming up in my jatp/stranger things fic who may or may not be a librarian 👀
19. Share a snippet from a wip without giving any context for it.
Oooh, oooh for once I actually have way too many works in progress! I'll give two because I can't pick. And they are long snippets because I love you guys.
WIP 1:
As soon as her dad was out of earshot, Carlos was turning to her with a smirk that left reality rushing back in.
“Ugh, I knew you helping me was too good to be true,” Julie sighed preemptively, not needing to hear what he had to say to know it was a complication she would now have to deal with.
Carlos pointed at himself in fake shock.
“Who me? We really are going to have sibling bonding time. At your Halloween party.”
Julie sagged in her chair, an even deeper sigh working its way out of her as she resigned herself to her fate.
“How did you know about that?”
Carlos folded his arms and scoffed as though it was a ridiculous question.
“I’m a genius, of course I know everything you’re thinking before you think it.”
Julie raised an eyebrow and tilted her head skeptically.
“Also our walls are thin and Flynn is very loud,” Carlos admitted.
WIP 2:
Peter followed the feeling with his eyes as it tugged his attention towards the house beside him, let it draw his gaze up and up until it landed on the second floor window there.
Peter stiffened, the realization of just whose bedroom that window led to washing over him in a rush of dread that fought the warm tingle for dominance leaving him nearly dizzy with conflicting feelings.
He had come back to his universe so determined, so committed, so ready to do better not just as Spider-Man but as Peter Parker too.
After talking to the therapist, he had even…he had even thought he might be ready to consider the possibility of falling in love again.
Just consider.
Because he knew…she…would want that.
Because deep down he knew that he wanted that too.
But there was one thing he knew he didn’t want, could never want, and that was to find love with one very specific person.
When he had talked to the kid on the roof he had told him that he lost…her…no, he lost Gwen.
And he had called her “his MJ”.
And that was true for him, true in all the ways that mattered.
But it was also a lie, a lie that had burned his mouth even as he said it with terrible possibility.
Because his universe did have an MJ.
And she used to be his neighbor, used to live in this house, beyond that window.
Peter stared up at the window for a long, breathless moment, his eyes searching for something he didn’t want to see but all he found was darkness. In fact the entire house was dark, the dilapidated porch looking just as abandoned as always. She wasn’t there. Why would she be? As far as he knew she hadn’t been home once since they graduated from high school.
Not for her dad’s funeral.
Not for Gwen’s.
He released a shaky sigh before forcing his gaze away from the house and back towards his original destination, back towards Aunt May and his hope for the future.
Because he was going to do better, he was.
He might even fall in love again. Someday. With someone.
Just not MJ Watson.
Thanks for the ask!
Send me a writing ask.

ASK GAME FOR 9-1-1 !!
also ! julie and the phantoms ! bc ur so right it deserved a season 2 !!!!! netflix did jatp so wrong
Because this got super long
9-1-1
my all-time ultimate fave character: Chimney
a character I didn’t used to like but now do: Hen
a character I used to like but now don’t: Buck
a character I’m indifferent about: Eddie
a character who deserved better: Taylor Kelly
a ship I’ve never been able to get into: I’d prefer not to answer that
a ship I’ve never been able to get over: Madney
a cute, low-key ship: Bathena
an unpopular ship but I still enjoyed it: Michael and David
a ship that was totally wrong and never should have happened: There aren’t many but I didn’t like the Buck and Lucy kiss in 5x11 if that qualifies
my favourite storyline/moment: Fight or Flight
a storyline that never should have been written: The whole cheating storylines, it was just terrible and unnecessary and ruined the characters
my first thoughts on the show: What drew me into the show was the found family dynamics, Angela Bassett and Jennifer Love Hewitt in another show. I also love the ocassional chaotic moments in some of the emergencies they dealt with like in Jinx (4x06), Treasure Hunt (4x12), Ocean’s 9-1-1 (2x15), Monsters (3x06) etc
my thoughts now: I have mixed feelings about the show especially after 5b and idk if I want to give season 6 a chance cause of it. There’s too much discourse going on and a lot of bashing and hate due to bias towards a ship and characters, which ruins any enjoyment I have in the fandom. Aside from Boston (5x12) and May Day (5x16), 5b was probably my least favorite season overall. While 5a had the problematic blackout storyline and the lack of Maddie and Chimney, the episodes were more rewatchable than in 5b as I felt that a lot of the characters were a bit ooc in 5b. I also did not like the season finale aside from the Henren wedding and Maddie returning to work. Also Taylor deserved better and I hate how we did not get to have any potential storylines that was set up in 5b
Julie and the Phantoms
my all-time ultimate fave character: Julie
a character I didn’t used to like but now do: Ray
a character I used to like but now don’t: there’s none, I do hate Caleb but I never liked him in the first place. Bobby, it’s more indifference but I hated that he took credit for Luke’s songs
a character I’m indifferent about: Julie’s aunt Victoria
a character who deserved better: Julie and the boys
a ship I’ve never been able to get into: Julie and Carrie
a ship I’ve never been able to get over: Julie and Luke
a cute, low-key ship: Alex and Willie
an unpopular ship but I still enjoyed it: there’s none that I know
a ship that was totally wrong and never should have happened: anyone with Caleb
my favourite storyline/moment: The climax at the orpheum
a storyline that never should have been written: it’s hard to choose, given that the show has only 9 episodes
my first thoughts on the show: I thought it was very cheesy and had a 2000s vibe to it but after watching the first two episodes, I grew to love the characters and the storyline is actually pretty good
my thoughts now: The show had a lot of potential and the fact that Netflix cancelled it after a year of ignoring the show still pisses me off. The fact that the show left so many unanswered questions is upsetting
send me a tv series and I’ll tell you

I absolutely CANNOT get over the idea of Julie introducing Luke as her boyfriend to Ray, and Ray completely defies all stereotypes—he doesn’t threaten Luke or get overly protective, he simply welcomes him and keeps an eye on him to make sure he’s respecting his daughter the way she deserves.
And then Tía BURSTS THROUGH THE DOOR and in all her glory, demands to know who this boy is, and gives him the most intense shovel talk of all time, because ain’t NOBODY gonna hurt her sobrinos, not on her watch

And She Was Just Here (She Was Just Here)
Tumblr media
Someone dropped their candle, letting the small flame flicker out. The same person cupped a hand around her elbow, asking with silent pressure to give her the support she so desperately needed. Julie knew those hands.
Luke had come to her rescue once again.
He didn’t say anything when she took his hand, just helped her back to his feet. When he was sure that Julie was steady, he accepted his fallen candle from his mother and relit it with the flame from Alex’s wick. Julie stared in confusion for a moment when Reggie handed her a candle, but after a second the reasoning set in, and she accepted it. Luke held his up to give her light. As the flame took, he opened his mouth.
“Alabanza,” he sang softly.
And that was the moment that Julie broke.

JATP characters rated on a chaos scale of 5. 1 being not chaotic and 5 being pure CHAOS. Let’s go!
Literally all of Sunset Curve- all of them are 5/5, each is chaotic in different ways but all of them are feral. I love them all.
Julie- she’s not too chaotic at all. Has her moments but not nearly as chaotic as the boys. I give her a 1/5.
Flynn- she’s more persistent than chaotic I give her a 1/5 too.
Caleb- 5/5, died and chose to steal souls of teens for a living in the after life. Need I say more?
Willie- 5/5, chaotic like the other boys since he after all is a huge risk taker and was clearly a troublemaker when he was alive. He’s also the whole reason Caleb is even a problem for the guys.
Carrie- mildly chaotic which is expected of the main mean girl of a show. They’re usually willing to do whatever to steal the scene or belittle the protagonist. But honestly she doesn’t really do too many outlandish things against Julie despite being one of the two main antagonist. 2/5.
Nick- not chaotic at all. Just a chill baby boy. 1/5.
Ray- not chaotic either. 1/5
Aunt Victoria- chaotic because she cares too much and goes crazy when she realizes there were ghost which is fair I guess. 3/5
Carlos- chaotic little king, we stan a ghost hunter who knows boundaries. 3/5
