i just realized that since big hero 6 takes place in 2032, if it was real hiro's parents just recently died or would soon because they died when he was 3 and he would be turning 4 in 2022

let's not think about the 2019-2022 pandemic going on

let's not think about how such a pandemic causing his parents' death would make Tadashi grow up to want to provide better free universal healthcare and lead him to majoring in engineering to create a "personal healthcare companion"

Additionally: Robots are relatively bad disease vectors, so can switch between patients without infecting new people (courtesy of @mycomancy)

let's not think about how Cass relies on her cafe to provide for her family and that maybe she was so unwilling to close in Baymax! was because there was a time when it had to be closed and it was difficult to take care of a 3 year old and 10 year old

let's not think about how they are canonically a low-income partially poc family (reasoning: hiro received a full grant instead of full scholarship (honestly he probably got both and used the scholarship money for his projects); grants are for low income students.)

One of the things I love about the animation in Baymax! is how it looks EXACTLY like the movie. Not less quality, but also not “more”.

The characters don’t look “off” like so many sequels/shorts made years after the original, because of changed animation or character models (lbr, it’s because even Disney knows the animation from the original movie was already perfect!)

And I’m not just talking about the quality of the animation, but Hiro’s little quirks and facial expressions when he moves and talks are SPOT ON! (Same for Aunt Cass and Baymax, I at least didn’t notice anything that felt off,)

They genuinely feel like the same characters from 2014.

-Tadashi: "What did you do this time...?"

-Hiro: "..."

-Tadashi: "HIRO HAMADA, COME HERE NOW!!!"

-Hiro: "Oh, sh*t!"

As you can see two stick notes, i want to draw quickly even tho (excuse me my language) it's sh*tty ( ͡° ʖ̯ ͡°). This make me giggle, cuz what if Hiro gets trouble and his aunt & older brother called his full name and i felt like they would aha. The first stick note that Hiro decided not going to school but pretend going to school, but then Aunt cass gets a called from Hiro's school and she got very upset, Tadashi ask him but Hiro didn't say anything cuz he knew Tadashi will get mad at him too. The second stick note, as we all know Hiro would go to bot fighting, Tadashi would caught him and get very upset while Hiro going to bot fighting.

I hope this make you a giggle, this supposed to be funny 🤣.

My Thoughts on “Baymax!”

Today is the day! The new Disney+ series “Baymax!” is now available to be viewed! And boy oh boy, what a series!

If you are a fan of Baymax and Big Hero 6 in general, I highly recommend watching this series. The episodes are short, but sweet!

Now, for my thoughts on each episode. Spoilers under the cut!

1. Cass:

Nice to see Cass again! And it was really fun seeing Baymax try to handle the Lucky Cat Café!

2. Kiko:

Baymax trying to make Kiko overcome her fear of water was very funny! I also the emotional moment when Kiko talked about her husband.

3. Sofia:

This episode shows Sofia dealing with her first period and Baymax having to help her, which was really nice! I also liked seeing that man in the trans flag shirt for a brief moment!

4. Mbita:

I really liked that car chase with Baymax and Mbita. I was also surprised when Mbita asked Yukio out on a date. I love more LGBTQ+ representation!

5. Yachi:

The various music and sounds coming out of the earbud in Yachi was funny and… wait… THIS IS A TWO-PARTER?!

6. Baymax:

Now THIS is how you conclude a series! Everyone coming together to help out Baymax! And I loved the callback to Big Hero 6 at the very end.

Overall, even though none of the other 4 members of the team weren't in it, this was a really good series! I also loved that we got to discover more of San Fransokyo while also visiting familiar places! I definitely need to re-watch it!

hey bh6 tumblr are you ready to be sad?? no? great!

cass hamada was probably the sister of mr hamada, looking at this family photo (considering that mrs. hamada looks too much of asian descent compared to cass?? just hear me out because they don't look enough alike and enough NOT alike for me to be decisive about it, especially w/ the picture quality in the scene)

now, for hiro and tadashi to still be hamada's in this case, that means that their father most likely took up their mother's family name instead, as long as we're sticking by the fact that hiro and tadashi are half-white-half-japanese.

the sad part?

once hiro and tadashi's parents passed away, cass lost her brother and her new sister-in-law and took in the children that, frankly, look VERY much like her brother. and it doesn't stop there.

either of these two happened:

1. cass took the hamada name so that hiro and tadashi, once adopted, wouldn't have to part with their family name and could still identify with their parents and culture.

or

2. cass took the hamada name because it was what her brother did. she took any chance to be closer to him and to preserve what he would have wanted after his death, and gave up her own name to take on the hamada legacy, not just so that hiro and tadashi could keep it, but because it was what her brother wanted. and she misses him.

Felt like elaborating more on this post--and also because I couldn't get the second image out of my head. XD Do love how this implies that the boys will behave for Aunt Cass but as soon as Tadashi's left in charge all bets are off. X'D

As before, I'm not a fan of the chibi style but since this was such a simple concept I went for it (although it being closer to the Animal Crossing style baffles me because I've never played those games). Also I don't doubt that Hiro had a harness when he was little and that Tadashi still pulls it out when he's making a point he's looking into one for Obake too.

I would say, i really like this scene because our favorite boy is sad and we already know why but then his amazing Aunt cass and companion robot Baymax comfort him, it make me happy that they make Hiro feel better.

I now have more big hero 6 content to obsess over!!!! The “Cass” episode was my absolute fav solely because of Aunt Cass herself and the lucky cat cafe. Her being vulnerable and talking about taking care of her family hit me so hard. R.I.P Tadashi

OBVIOUSLY I still miss the original gang so much and wished they could’ve had small appearances like cameos. Seeing Gogo, Honey Lemon, Fred, and Wasabi all come together again with Hiro and Aunt Cass in the last episode would’ve tied the story up so nicely
