Want to be a beta reader for a new LGBT sci-fi romance (with dragons)???!

Hi! My name’s Atlas. I’m the author of the Sci-fi series “Shades.” I’m looking for folks to beta read a new standalone romance novel called “Steel Your Heart.” Here’s a blurb about it:

Damascus is the director of the Sanctuary - a place that cares for dragons that have been rescued from the evil organization known as Knighthood. Knighthood operates on human-fabricated myth and legend, believing that dragons are evil monsters that must be eradicated, but Damascus knows better. They are beautiful, and shy, and intelligent, and most importantly: they are people.

And he is the only human on earth that knows it. Damascus has spent the last ten years trying to save one dragon: a giant green male whom Knighthood calls 203. Can Damascus manage to scratch the surface of seventeen years of the dragon's trauma, and save his people from humanity's worst, or will the dragon resist and live out the rest of his days haunted by and terrified of everything he sees?

What do Dom and Lou's voices sound like? Do they have specific accents? Anything relateable to real life, or something totally made up? :0

Lou naturally has an American-ish accent with a slight French tinge (possibly Creole-adjacent?) They’re not from the main city in the game, which is based on Victorian London. Lou DOES suppress their accent a lot, though. They like to sound proper, and they spent seven years pretending to be a whole slew of other people, so they’re a pretty well-practiced parrot.Lou’s voice has mostly eluded me, but I do know it’s a bit scratchy sounding (they got their lungs badly burned by a corrosive gas)Dom’s natural accent would be a heavy Russian-sounding one (They’re from Tycheros, and we’ve decided Daimonic probably sounds a bit like Russian but harsher.)Dom ALSO suppresses their accent, as they spent a lot of time trying to blend in for various reasons. Dom’s voice claim, by the way. Sexy.

OH MY GOSH DID YOU GET A HAIRCUT!!!!!! SO CUTE!!!!!!!!

It’s a wig! It’s actually the same wig I wore as Belle two years ago. Too bad I couldn’t get the bun the correct size, but I’m still happy with it.

Side note, I’ve always admired women who look good in short hair (like Audrey Hepburn). Prior to this, I never thought I looked good in short hair because I have a very strong jaw and short hair emphasizes it. Tonight I actually liked how it looked. ^_^ My mom complimented my bangs, she said they were cute on me. Too bad I can never have my own bangs, because I have a cowlick on the right side of my forehead area. Without the weight, it sticks straight up. Though I’ve been curious about trying clip-in bangs...

4 WEEKS UNTIL THERE’S MAGIC BETWEEN US RELEASES!

I’ll be sharing one character portrait a week (drawn by the wonderful atlastheseus!!) to count down the days until my next book comes out! This week is our love interest, Eden!.

Eden can come across as a bit blunt or even rude at first, but a lot of that comes down to social awkwardness. The more she warms up to you, the more her positive qualities come through: her carefulness and determination, and deep down, a sense of adventure. Eden is very focused on her goal of finding all of the treasures in Fairbrooke's forest.

What is your favorite planet?

I’ve personally always been very partial to Saturn. I remember being drawn to it ever since I was a little kid. I have no idea why though. Ironically enough, I also used to drive a 2001 Saturn sedan.

What is your favorite childhood memory?

I have a really fond memory of my dad taking me to the park; just me and him. He bought this airplane glider toy from his work (Boeing), and we played with it. I remember him helping me slide down all the tall slides and stuff that day as well. He also bought me some cotton candy. For some reason, this memory has always stuck out the most for me. It’s not that fancy, but it holds so much pure energy that I can’t think of anything else to top it.What is your hidden talent?

I’m an energy healer, and more recently discovered, a clairvoyant. Still learning how to really… I don’t know… Hone into that? It’s all new to me, and I have no idea what’s going on half the time, but I’ve managed to tell strangers things that other clairvoyants have told them in the past, so… Who knows, honestly.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

Teleportation. I want to travel without the expenses, please.

Some brilliant people ( @byjillianmaria @christinawritesfiction and @audreyroseb ) got to talking with me about what random goofy ways the characters in The Warlord’s Contract might getting around camp if the technology level in their universe was a little screwy, and what we came up with is just too good not to share so I’m turning it into a tag game. So:

WIP Anachronism: Goofy Transportation Edition.

What bizarre ways would your characters get around if they lived in a different era from their canon? (Feel free to change transportation to anything else you feel like. This is mainly for the hilarity of trying to picture our characters in the most ridiculous situations possible.)

I have three small succulents. One’s short and prickly, and I named him Bones. One’s a little chunky and I named him Kirk. And the last one is tall and lean. I named him Spock.

(Spock is always leaning into Kirk’s space btw)

I'll be sharing one character portrait a week (drawn by the wonderful atlastheseus!!) to count down the days until my next book comes out! First up is our spunky MC and protagonist, Lydia.

Lydia's a city girl through and through, the type who thrives in fast-paced, loud environments. She doesn't do well in emotional or very serious situations, and does her best to avoid them; instead, she tries to make every day an adventure and is always willing to try new things. Although she has a bit of a short temper and a tendency to act before she thinks, she tries her best to balance it out with an optimistic, carefree attitude.
