My favorite food is pain au chocolat. I don’t even feel like I need to explain it. It is so obviously and manifestly a perfect food.

#the only downside is you can't really eat it as a meal #you'd make yourself sick #it's more of a snack/dessert #THAT SAID do you know how many of my meals were pain au chocolat when I was 17/18 years old #and had a teenage metabolism #they were the only thing I found palatable at the coffee bar where my friends hung out on the first floor of the humanities building #there was a 4-day stretch once when I was 17 where the only things I ate were two pains au chocolat #because I lost my wallet but one of my friends bought me breakfast two days #later I found out that there was a form I could have filled out to be let into the dining hall so I could have been eating regular food #but I was a freshman and didn't know #well I didn't lose my wallet--I left my jacket in a friend's dorm room way on the other side of campus #and was at her mercy until she returned it to me #at her convenience #and I had too much social anxiety to tell her I really needed her to hurry and give it back #of course she was rightfully mad at me for not telling her--of course she would have rather gone out of her way than have me not eat #you know what I'd completely forgotten this story until I started in on these tags #hell I'd forgotten that I used to eat it for breakfast or even instead of lunch my freshman year of college #this post was just simply inspired by having just had pain au chocolat for dessert this evening

There's this song called "Bruno is orange" which is about a secret love shared between a Black man & a White Woman during the segregation era (or earlier), which includes explicit references to the way Black men, including young Black boys, are hypermasculinized & treated as inherently dangerous to White women while also being called "boys" & denied manhood, with the White woman desperately trying to hide her lover from jail because they were caught & facing targeted abuse. Towards the end of the song, the singing gets more desperate and erratic with chains banging to the beat, indicating that the Black man in the story was going to be jailed.

The top comment of the audio of that song is a White person saying "I know it's about a man and a lady but I'm going to pretend it's about lesbians". I hate White people.

#they conveniently leave out that its about a BLACK man #and the song addresses specific ways that Black men are demonized.#and even THE TITLE OF THE SONG referencing that the White woman is trying to convince her community that Bruno isn't Black #if it was about Lesbians back then then BOTH of the women would have been jailed. only Bruno was because he was Black.

Thinking about how Kipperlilly is so much of a minmaxer that she tried to get Lucy, who we know from Yolanda Badgood had a "profound conviction" in her faith and would never have willingly changed deities, to switch religions just to be better than some kids who didn't even know they existed. Tried to pressure her friend into making a life-changing, deeply personal decision for the sake of a petty, one-sided rivalry. Thinking about "Lucy was very supportive, 'cause it mattered a lot to Kipperlilly," about "Lucy is the only one who sort of gets it" and how that might have actually just meant "Lucy is the only one who doesn't argue with me." Thinking about afternoons spent quietly resurrecting dead rats in the woods, clearly unhappy but unwilling to vocalize it and hurt Kipperlilly's feelings. Thinking about Lucy finally putting her foot down for what might have been the first time ever and getting murdered for it.

It was Maid Day today yesterday a week ago so I got struck by inspiration to draw the worsties, and it ran away from me into a whole AU where they’re coworkers at a maid cafe. She’s a med student & this is just a part time job, and this is his depression job while he gets his life back together. He needs something he can be workaholic about to forget what it’s like having a personal life and personal issues. He’s actually the accountant, but the new hire janitor (Izutsumi) doesn’t show up for half her shifts and is a sloppy worker, so he gets the extra work of doing her job on top of his because he’s undervalued and overworked. Of course, janitors also have an uniform to keep the aesthetic cohesion as they go about cleaning the place, of course.

Senshi’s the part time cook you only see slivers off, he’s kind and warm when you do see him and have a chat but most shifts he’s in and out the kitchen without a trace. Laios and Falin are regulars because Falin and Marcille are besties & in the same med school, Laios accompanies Falin as she visits her friend at work and gets hooked on the food. Chilchuck has to remind Marcille to work instead of chatting with Falin for an hour, and next thing he knows she’s distracting him from work too. That’s it that’s the AU. Inspired by this idol AU fanart a bit <3

Lady Gotham raises Bruce Wayne

After the tragedy that happened on that fateful night in Park Row, the Spirit of Gotham understood something.

Bruce Wayne was destined to become the Dark Knight of her City, the Protector of Gotham and all of her peoples, as well as one of the Greatest Heroes to ever exist. And to fulfill that Destiny his life would be filled with hardships and pain beyond what most Mortal men would be able to Handle.

So, she decided, "Nope. My child, my rules."

She may not be as caring or compassionate as her Sister, Metropolis, but she can still feel enough compassion to know that she doesn't want this little boy to suffer all that alone.

So she takes on a Mortal Form and crafts herself an Identity, and then gets herself Hired as the new Maid, as a partner to Alfred.

She take up a Maternal Role in Bruce's life, similar to Alfred's Paternal Role. But while Alfred starts teaching Bruce about all of his old MI6 Training, Lady Gotham starts training Bruce is more Mystical stuff.

She basically teaches him everything there is to know about Magic, everything he could possibly ever need.

She teaches him about the different monsters of the world, how they can be beaten and how they can be befriended.

She teaches him about all the different types of Magic she knows of, just so he knows what he is getting into if he ever decides to learn how to use it. Or how to counter it.

She teaches him about all the different dimensions she can think of, from the Fae Wilds to the Ghost Zone. In fact, she teaches him mostly about her own original home, the Infinite Realms.

She tells him about the history of the Realms, how they came to be and all about the beings thay reside there.

She tells him the story of Pariah Dark, the good king who fell to his own Hubris and became a tyrant.

She tells him about Clockwork, the Ghost of an Ancient Tita who now lives in search of redemption by keeping the world safe.

She tells him about the Ancients, who banded together to Seal away the Tyrant Pariah, and then split up to rule over their own Kingdoms.

And this information comes in handy when he eventually becomes the Batman. While he never did learn how to use Magic, he is still one of the most accomplished Magical Consultants in the World (Something that really ticks off a certain sad trenchcoat man). Whenever the League has an Issue with a Magical Threat, they always turn to Batman.

So Lady Gotham thinks she did her job pretty well.

And then he adopts kid...and she absolutely ADORES THEM!

Dick is so Carefree and fun! Jason was such a bookworm, even after his death and resurrection! Tim was such a smart kid, she was honestly hoping he would be chosen as the next Robin. Stephanie added a much needed air of joy to the house, for her short time with them. And Damian was such a petulant but creative child!

She absolutely loves them!

So when some crooks manage to kidnap HER Grandbabies while they are on a civilian family bonding trip to the Park, there will be Hell to Pay.

She may not be as compassionate as her sister, but she can be twice as Vengeful.

i recognize that simon and edwin meeting and parting in hell is narratively very good and provides closure for all. but imagine if simon had agreed to try and escape with edwin. and charles doesn't have time to really question it, because anybody who likes edwin is aces in his book and it's hell, they need to leave. (edwin, out of courtesy to their third companion, puts his plan to confess on hold until they've escaped.)

suddenly the edwin harem of "supernatural boys who all hate each other but are attracted to that negative rizz" gains another member, and at some point edwin is going to have to mention that simon was the boy who sacrificed him to hell.
