it’s a canon fact in jack’s personality that they’re protective to a ruthless extent, which is especially obvious in instances where they’ve hurt someone without external influence, like going back to asmodeus and the shedim, or torturing Michael and almost strangling Nate in 13x23—all of them were both just genuine reactions to seeing people he cared about being harmed or literally killed in front of him.
