Five favorite fics… have to agree with Joni… that’s hard… I’ll probably have to take a page out of her playbook, too, and have some honorable mentions…

In no particular order…

The State of Emergency series- SoE was the second fic I ever wrote, inspired by the Tommy Lee Jones movie Volcano. At the time it was a pretty huge undertaking, and ended up being almost 18k words long! All the fics were soooo much fun to write, even with the addition of another natural disaster in Code White. I was just super happy with how the whole thing turned out.

Of Darkness, Vampires, and Soulmates- This fic is one of my favorites because it was the first time I wrote something for my own event, the CS Supernatural Summer, and because of HOW HARD it was to write. It was the first time I wrote something COMPLETELY out of my own head- no inspiration whatsoever other than a vision of vampire Killian turning Emma- and it took me around seven full months of actively writing to complete it. It was also a lot of fun to include several characters that aren’t often used in fic. @hollyethecurious and @wistfulcynic were very nearly co-writers with me with everything they did to help me finish it.

In the Viper’s Den was written for the @cshistfic event. It’s one of my favorites because I think I did some of my very best writing in it. I’ve also been told by several people that it’s their favorite of my fics. That the action and the romance was very well balanced. It was inspired by the movie Shining Through staring Melanie Griffith and Michael Douglas. The movie is really great and I highly recommend it, but I was especially proud of two extra scenes I included that weren’t even suggested in the movie.

A Family Affair series. Probably not fair that a big series is among my favorites, but sorry, not sorry… I am soooooo STINKIN proud of these fics!!! Inspired by a romance series by Nora Roberts I read in high school, this series tells the love stories of 4 siblings, triplet sisters Emma, Regina, and Ruby, and their older brother David. I’ve had several folks ask for Regina and David’s story as CS fics, but I’m too happy with the stories as they are. And I have a Christmas addition in this universe just waiting for December to get here.

A Christmas Surprise was from a prompt by @gingerpolyglot return from military deployment. I still think it’s one of the cutest things I’ve ever written. It also has an addition ready and waiting for December to get here- the original fic in Killian’s pov and then going forward to their wedding day.

I know that’s five, but I have to include A Mistress to No One, bday fic for @hollyethecurious this year. There are so many things I love so much about this fic that make it a true favorite of mine rather than an honorable mention, not the least of which it’s based on my favorite of the Bridgerton series.

And now to the Honorable Mentions…

Cave Cruises, Cabin Capers, & Cracked Craniums: affectionately nicknamed CC3, this was a collaborative fic with @jrob64 @snowbellewells and @whimsicallyenchantedrose based on our girls vacay to Pigeon Forge earlier this summer.

Out of the Fire, Into Tomorrow: bday fic for @snowbellewells last year. Bar wench Emma Swan meets pirate captain Killian Jones and her life is changed forever.

Dream a Little Dream: bday fic for @jrob64 last year set in the Fairytales universe written by @kymbersmith-90. One of both mine and Joni’s very favorite fics.

My Bond Alex rider crossover feels! Let me show you!!!!

Aka I read this double drabble and promptly lost my mind. I just need Alex having adults around him who understand and also, you know, absolutely refuse to let this happen to a child, and if it has to, only with support and only if it's his choice. And the power and skills and connections to make that happen. Also, Bond and Alex would get along like a house on fire. What with, you know, their fondness for chaos (except in plot bunny where a bond who is retired from the field and has become Alex's handler and is convinced that Alex is punishment for all his sins)

The flavors are (all with like, background yalex if not explicitly stated)

The first one has some suicidal ideation, so just a heads up. An AU where skeleton Key happens like, immediately after s2 of the TV show so Alex doesn't have time to look into scorpia and the stuff with Sarov FUCKS HIM UP. Felix, James' CIA buddy, takes one look at the small traumatized british teenager and drops him off on a retired bond's dock (this would be pre-no time to die proper, when james actually spends several years retired in jamaica) and tells bond to, you know, fix whatever the fuck it is MI6 has done to this teen. Bond is annoyed at first but quickly realizes that Felix wasn't exaggerating and something is wrong. When he finds Alex sitting at the dining room table in the middle of the night with Bond's gun he's like "oh fuck" and asks Alex what he can do to help. Alex tells him he wants to talk to Yassen (because, you konw, he needs to talk to someone who actually knew his dad). Bond isn't thrilled, but like, goes and get Alex his emotional support assassin. This probably ends up with Yalex and bond being disapproving in the background and Yassen and bond having to work together to figure out how to get Alex out of MI6 clutches

Bond is mandatory medical leave when he spots Yassen Gregorovich clearly tailing someone. He follows Gregorovich and discovers that he's stalking a teenager. Yassen disappears when he's been made, and Bond approaches Alex, who has a breakdown upon hearing that, you know, Yassen is actually following him. Meanwhile, bond is like, you are 16 we are getting you out of this and Yassen interrupts them during this discussion because, you know, the LAST thing Alex needs is a 00 in his life, so clearly it's kidnapping time. This one just kind of...fizzled out and I got distracted by other stuff

Alex disappears after s2, and Bond is tasked with, you know, recovering the missing agent. Bond is NOT PLEASED about the fact that they have a 16 year old agent (not is Q or M). So just bond trying to find Alex, figuring out the bullshit that Alex has been through, and Alan Blunt gets what's coming to him.

Q gets kidnapped, Alex gets involved trying to stop it and gets himself grabbed as well, and Yassen and James have to work together to rescue them. Includes Q's horrified realization that this is a baby Bond, and his offense when he's called a baby smithers is only mollified when Alex corrects himself by calling him a grown up kyra. Also, a scene with James and Yassen looking at each other when an alarm goes off and asking "yours or mine?" and not sure who is responsible only for there to be an explosion in the distance and Yassen going "that one was mine"

a recently-found amber fossil (dating to ~100 million years ago) suggests that dinosaurs ingested psychotropic fungi !!

in this fossil, we see some of the earliest recorded evidence of grass. atop the grass? a fungal parasite. in comparison with our fungi today, this fungus is most similar to ergot - fungi that grow on rye & produce alkaloids. ergot has been used as a medicine, a poison & a hallucinogen by humans for thousand of years.

How do the girls get along

Pretty great actually!

Jenny and Kim are very good/close friends, since they met relatively early compared to others (they actually met each other first out of everyone, then others at one point and another) and had a shared adventure sometime after the ends of their respective shows (wink wonk).

But, their first meeting was not actually very um, positive. There was some conflict, but after it was resolved both of them gained a very solid friend for life!

Jenny, was glad to meet someone else (beside Brad) who treated her like a person/normal teenager (instead of an 8th wonder of the world or a freaky robot) and not to mention she got a fellow superheroine girl friend! After Misty, she kind of missed having someone like that to kick butt with (considering that like, 70% of her friends are dudes) or just hang out.

Kim was fascinated by Jenny, not because she is a robot (tho she does think its pretty cool) but because it kind of gave her a contrast to her own life in a weird way? Like, Kim was a normal teenager who got into superheroing on accident and just went with it, while Jenny was created with a goal of being Earth's defender but rebeled to have some sort of normal life. And now they both live those weird semi-normal lives, that led them to meeting each other.

Jun is around 5-6 years their junior and while they met each other much later on, when Jun was a little older (like not 11-12 age of the show), she still kind of looked up to them and both Jenny and Kim felt an instant kinship with the girl.

Before she met Jenny and Kim, Jun only knew a couple other guys as fellow heroes/magical protectors (guess who ;D lol), and while she had plenty of female role models (Ama/Jasmine being the most prominent) and friends, she kind of enjoyed meeting some cool older superheroines to bond with! It also helped that despite the age difference, both Jenny and Kim never looked down at her when it came to superheroing/fighting, but respected her abilities and expertise (considering that Jun was practically an apprentice to her Ama since at least 8-9ish of age, when her powers first awakened, she has a lot of experience).

They both are kind of like cool older cousins to her, who travel a lot for their work and come visit to hang out often and tell/share stories about their adventures. Their and her lines of work while similar, also run in completely different circles (human/interplanetary vs magical/supernatural), so its always a treat to hear about the things they do.

(And yes sometimes she feels jealous about the fact that both of them get to travel all over the world, and despite the developments, more often than not she has to stay town locked and limit her excursions to magical realms.)

Silly thing, but Jun absolutely adores Jenny, for one simple fact that she can travel to space just like that (she and Danny, fellow astronaut/space fans, share that, despite the fact that Danny kinda can travel to space just like that too.)

Whats Over and Over? 👀

Over and Over is a yalex soulmate timeloop au fic! (Title taken from the three days grace song of the same name)

The basic premise (which I have seen only once and have been OBSESSED with ever since) is that the first time you see your soulmate, it starts a timeloop that only the two of you experience. The first day of the loop is the only "real" one and the rest is just the two of you like, getting to know each other.

Once you figure out who you're in the loop with (which can be somewhat difficult because like, you could literally have just seen them across a busy street), you basically get three years to fall in love. If you don't fall in love within that timeframe, you forget who your soulmate is and everything that happened in the loop, but do remember that it happened so you're not like, waiting your entire life for something that already occured. And if you die in the loop, you die in real life.

So, cue Alex and Yassen waking up after that meeting in Point Blanc only to realize that they're looping, resulting in VASTLY different reactions. Yassen is like "he's sixteen and made of hormones and being manipulated by MI6, just doen't lie to him and sleep with him until he falls in love with you, and then take him back to scopria's loving arms" and proceeds to set out to do just that.

Alex, meanwhile, is completely cut off from his support system and, you know, a fucked up grieving mess essentially trapped behind enemy lines. So he decides to be even more reckless than usual and like, gets himself into all kinds of trouble. And then, you know, when he finds out that yassen killed Ian has a complete breakdown about what that means

Eventually Yassen realizes he actually doesn't want Alex anywhere near any of this, and so he and Alex have to actively fight catching feelings with each other so that they have enough time to get dirt on scorpia and MI6 so they can both get out and retire once the loop is over.

This was my nano this year and has 50k+ and is still nowhere near done, given how complicated it is. But one day! I will finish!

dream + raven

dream: does your OC have a driving dream or goal? what is it? how far would they go to achieve it?

Raven wants to be able to be happy with their life and doing what they love as a career, which is video games and entertaining others. I would say their current goal is to become a big-time streamer to the point where they can quit their retail job and live financially comfortable for the rest of their life.

Currently they have achieved about 150-200 watchers on average on their Pitch streams- thanks to friends and lots of reaching out- but hope one day that, even if they could just DOUBLE that many viewers and subs they would honestly be happy with just that as well.

A few hcs:

Based on their character sheet, francois hides their fatigue around people and keeps up high endurance, only resting when alone, i like to think the alone doesn't include ryusui. Francois understands ryusui's thought process pretty easily so i like to think it's mutual

This one's a joint funny hc from @ri-cakes and i where Francois isn't even their og name, they hadn't chosen a name yet for themselves nor did they provide one for ryusui but he started calling them francois and they liked it so they kept it as their new name

Senku has nothing against dresses he just likes simpler designs (exhibit a his 'labcoat') and the frills weren't helping, Ryusui tho, as seen from his collection experiments with styles and lemme just say, he do look good in that dress

I like both redhead and blonde francois so this is less of a hc and more of a stylistic choice but francois with blond hair and redish tips, gradient of both. booM there we go, solved.
