Ok, but so many feelings about Charlie giving Nick the queer experience he himself never got to have?!
Charlie outed with no choice about the matter? Unflinchingly keeps Nick’s sexuality a secret, even when it makes things more painful for Charlie himself.
Had an abusive and toxic first relationship? Is the sweetest, most supportive, loving, healthy boyfriend to Nick.
Was horrifically bullied for being gay? Introduces Nick to a diverse, accepting, LGBTQI+ friend group, so he isn’t trapped in his homophobic social circle.
Just…. Charlie freaking Spring.
When Nick called him the kindest, most thoughtful, caring, amazing person? He’s not wrong.

Eddie hasn’t always hated his soulmark.
When little, he didn’t understand, of course. Didn’t understand why his dad would glare angrily at the two words, or why his mom would gaze at them sadly. It didn’t help that they weren’t soulmates, had never found their other halves and lived frustrated by it.
As he grew older and figured himself out, understood which clothes he felt comfortable wearing, which songs he liked listening to, which haircut fit him better — then he learned to dislike the soulmark.
As he grew older and people would call him that on the streets, tell him he’d be just like his father, words spat out in pure despise, as he learned to hate his dad and want nothing more than to be nothing like him — then he learned to hate the soulmark.
First of all, he liked metal, okay. He was a metalhead, his style was completely different from what they’d call him. He hated that all boys who didn’t wear polo shirts, all girls who didn’t twirl on long skirts — they were all tossed into the same little box. How choosing not to conform to the norm meant they’d all be tossed aside.
And he was nothing like his dad.
So, yeah, Eddie hasn’t always hated his soulmark, the faded words on his wrist waiting to be spoken out loud by that special someone to shine as gold as the sun. But, as he grew older, he learned to hate that “Hey punk” with all of his being.
*
You haven’t always resented your soulmark.
When little, you didn’t understand, of course. Didn’t understand why your parents shared a weird look when you showed the word to them for the first time. It didn’t help that they were soulmates themselves, and the look they’d give to their own golden soulmarks was much different and fond.
As you grew up and noticed how many times people said that, how many times you’d grow hopeful only to be turned down again, how many times you heard the word until it stopped sounding like a word at all — then you learned to resent the soulmark.
So, yeah, you haven’t always resented your soulmark, the faded word on your wrist waiting to be spoken out loud by that special someone to shine as gold as the sun. But, as you grew older, you learned to resent that “Sorry” with all of your being.
*
The first time Eddie sees you is in Introduction To Music Theory with professor Marsh, his first of many Tuesdays learning all the theory he doesn’t have — not when he learned to play guitar with nothing but his ears, his nights watching bands at The Hideout and an everlasting hyperfocus. Professor March introduces you as his PA. You have a huge cup of coffee in hands and you don’t spare a single word to the class, only nods and sits somewhere in the back. Not really approachable, Eddie thinks. You don’t see him.
The second time Eddie sees you is at the cafeteria nearest to the Music Building. It’s the very next day, Wednesday, and there you are buying a huge cup of coffee to handle the day. Still looking tired, and still looking a little grumpy. You don’t see him.
The third time Eddie sees you is later that week, Saturday, at his first official college party. It’s a welcome party of sorts, and Chrissy had befriended a few frat idiots who thought they had a chance with her — her, a raging homosexual — and invited her and whoever else she wanted to bring to their party. She invited Eddie, and Eddie wanted to know the local scene, so he goes. You are there, a few friends by your side, as you sway to the rhythm of the music playing, and you don’t look tired or grumpy. You have a huge smile on your face, and you throw your head back to laugh at something a dude by your side says, and the cup in your hand has a mix of vodka and some weird juice instead of coffee. You look beautiful. You don’t see him.
The fourth time Eddie sees you is next Monday. You see him then.
*
The first time you see him, a Tuesday, is in Introduction To Music Theory with professor Marsh, where you are the PA — out of obligation only, because you hate the man. Doesn’t help that you hadn’t rested all summer, having to work your ass off to pay the goddamn tuition that is still way too expensive even with your scholarship. The coffee you had bought isn’t doing the miracle you need to look alive. But he stood out, 8 AM in the late summer wearing a cropped Metallica tee and a heavy leather jacket on top. He has long, voluminous hair, curly in a cloud of frizz, and that is what you stare at for the whole class. Aside from the introduction made by professor Marsh, he doesn’t see you.
The second time you see him, the very next day on Wednesday, he is a few people behind you in line at the cafeteria closest to the Music Building. The wall behind the counter is a floor-to-ceiling mirror, and you notice that head of curls entering through the doors instantly after requesting your double espresso. He is reading something on a paper, head down. He doesn’t see you.
The third time you see him, that weekend on Saturday, is at a random frat party. You brother wants to join the frat, and so he dragged you — and you dragged your friends. It isn’t all bad. Especially not after you see him sharing a joint with a pretty blonde in the backyard. They are talking and he has a soft smile on his lips the whole time, black eyeliner and a different Metallica cropped tee, and the moon is out and bright and it shines in his eyes. He looks beautiful. He doesn’t see you.
The fourth time you see him is next Monday. He sees you then.
Third week of the semester, campus still bright and charged with all the energy from a brand new class and its cheerful freshmen. You’ve only been here for a year, but you miss the excitement of being new to College life, and so you bask in it as you walk past the groups of freshmen joyfully sharing their experiences.
The hallways of the Music building are filled with posters of people trying to find companions to form a band, or bands looking for new members; contests and competitions and shows and concerts. It’s all so very refreshing. Aside from that, though, it’s fairly empty of people. You like to go to the Music Room and practice at late nights, the last hour or two before the room is closed by the janitors.
You see, as you turn at the right hallway, that the light on the Music Room is on, so you figure you’ll have company. You don’t mind, not everyone goes there to practice on an instrument, and even if they do, you could easily practice together — you like to get to know new musicians from time to time.
But as you turn and walk through the door, you are almost tackled by whoever is leaving the room. You feel pain rushing through your shoulder and notice nothing but the little metal pointy pins on the person’s jeans vest that had almost pierced through your skin.
“Hey, punk!” you complain, taking account of the black combat boots and tight skinny jeans as well, fitting the whole menacing look.
You almost miss as the person says quietly, at the same time as you basically yell at them: “Sorry.”
Nobody told you how painful it was. You forget easily about the sting on your shoulder as your wrist starts to burn. In the very back of your mind, you find it funny how the huge romanticization of soulmarks made everyone market the first encounter as something warm and delicate. It isn’t, you notice. It burns like hell, and you want to rip your skin off.
In the whole fuss that happened — them stumbling into you, you stumbling into the room, them turning around to apologize, and the two of you thrown completely off your heads because of your soulmate encounter — they made a big mistake.
They stepped back in shock, and kicked the door weight that held the door open. Still a little hazed, you failed to notice that happening, and the click of the door closing and locking is what brings you back to reality.
“Shit!” you complain, looking through their shoulder to the now locked door. “Shit, shit, shit, shit!” you circle around yourself and hide your face under your hands. You want to scream.
“I know I’m no Jude Law, but am I that ugly?” you hear them joking, and only then do you actually look at their face.
It is him.
You feel your eyes widening and cheeks burning, because it is him and you’ve noticed him ever since you first saw him, you’ve been noticing him around all week, and he’s your soulmate.
His word is burned into your wrist. You words are burned into his.
“No! No, you’re not bad at all,” you say before your think, and the blush on his ears is adorable. “Is just- the door is faulty, if it closes it locks and only opens from the outside. And now we’re stuck here, probably for a couple of hours until the janitors come close the building, or maybe until the morning.”
He looks behind him to the door as you speak, taking in the information.
“Until morning?” he asks as he turns back to look at you, clearly alarmed.
“I can’t guarantee that the janitor will go through the hallway,” you point at the door. “Let’s hope he does.”
“Shit, shit, shit indeed,” he mutters and you bite back a smile.
Your wrist is still burning. Sorry. His probably is too. Hey, punk!
“Sorry for calling you a punk. Just felt the little pins and went with it,” you point again, now at the spiky pins on his jacket and he looks down to assess them. His ears are still pink.
“Oh. It’s… okay.”
He looks at you again, deeply into your eyes and you notice how big they are. So brown. Round. Like a little cow’s, very doe. You could get lost in them.
You do.
“Sorry, what?” you question after you notice he had asked you something as you stared at him.
He smirks, “I asked your name. I’m Eddie.”
Eddie. Eddie, your soulmate.
You give him your name too and his smirk turns to something softer, less teasing.
“Nice to finally meet you,” he says your name and there’s a chill that runs down your spine.
“Yeah,” you answer. “Been a couple of decades in the waiting.”
He chuckles and looks around.
The Music Room is wide and prepared to be used by the Music students. The walls are thick and covered in soundproof foam. It has a few chairs, a table near the door and the only instrument that stays there is a piano. That’s your instrument.
You look at Eddie then and sees that he’s holding a guitar case.
He notices you looking. He heads to the table and opens the case on top of it. It’s a beautiful B. C. Rich Warlock, and you come closer to see it better.
“Isn’t she amazing?” he asks and you nod. “The love of my life, really.” You both chuckle. “I reckon you play piano since you’re empty handed?”
You answer positively and he asks about it. So you tell him how your interest on pianos arose with your father, how you took classes all through school, how it felt like your fingers were made to play the keys. How the world dissipated when you played, how you felt like you could do it for hours, how you’d pour your entire soul out through music.
“That’s how I feel too,” he says, running his finger through the guitar strings. “We should jam it out!” He looks at you with those big brown eyes glimmering and you can’t say no.
It’s hard to find a song that matches both your musical tastes, but you’re able to settle on Bowie’s Space Oddity after a little back and forth. While you’re settling into the piano and Eddie is dragging one of the chairs to sit closer to you, you ask him about his own interest in guitar.
He tells you how he’s grown up to his mother playing acoustics, and how it was something that he cherished between him and her. The good memories about her that playing brought up. How, after she passed away and he went to live with her brother, Uncle Wayne, he taught Eddie how to play so he could still remember her and the music they loved together.
Looking at it from an outsider’s point of view, it might seem weird how you both so easily talked about yourselves to literal strangers. And, maybe it was the lingering burn in your wrist, but it felt right. Opening up to him made sense in a way that tingled your belly, and listening to him being vulnerable in return made your heart flutter.
Maybe fate knew what it was doing, after all.
It took you both a while to settle into the right tempo for the song, because you’re into the slow pace and Eddie’s as electric as his guitar. But, just as naturally as everything else so far, you fit into the same rhythm at a point, and the music you make together sounds like the most beautiful one your ears have ever heard. You smile your way through eight minutes and you can’t look at him without losing your cadence but somehow you feel that he’s just as radiant as you. The song builds, and your heartbeat accelerates with it, and it’s like a weight that’s been over your shoulder for so long suddenly drops.
When you finish playing, you’re both panting as if you just played an entire concert.
You look at him and the way his eyes shimmer just for you feels like a promise, and you want to take it, and you want to keep it.
You both get up from your seats at the same time and are instantly drawn to each other. Your wrist isn’t burning, not anymore, it’s just a tingling feeling and for the first time you acknowledge it.
You bring your arm up and you look at it. Sorry. It’s golden, and it’s beautiful, and you suddenly want to cry. You peek at Eddie and he’s also beaming at your soulmark. He also raises his arm, pushes his sleeve up and there it is. Hey punk. It’s golden, and it’s beautiful.
“This is funny. I used to hate it,” he whispers, and you’re standing so close together that you hear it just fine.
“So did I,” you trace your soulmark with the tip of your finger, and in an instant Eddie’s finger is tracing it with you. His touch is delicate through the roughness of the calluses and you want to feel it forever.
“I don’t hate it anymore. This is also funny, but it changed instantly. It’s like I never hated it in the first place.”
You look up at him again, and he’s already looking at you. You’re both smiling, and you can’t shake the feeling that this should be terrifying but it just isn’t. You get it, you understand what he’s saying. It does feel instant, immediate, and it should unsettle you. But it doesn’t. It just feels like a breath of fresh air. Meant to be.
You’re interrupted when the door opens.
You try to recall the janitor’s name, but your brain’s feeling fuzzy and surrounded by nothing but Eddie, Eddie, Eddie. Your soulmate.
“Got locked in?” the janitor asks once you and Eddie turn to face him. He’s got an eyebrow raised and a smirk on his lips and a knowing look in his eyes. “By accident or…”
“Accident. I’m a freshman, didn’t know about the door,” Eddie says. He takes the lead and walks back to the table, puts his guitar back on its case and closes it. Heads to the door and holds it open. The janitor is still smirking. “Thank you.”
“Don’t worry. Saw the light under the door and thought it was weird. Good that I came to check in, or you would’ve been stuck here all night.”
Wouldn’t have been that bad, you think. But you just smile as you gather your purse and walks until you’re standing beside Eddie. The janitor steps back and waits by the corridor for you two to leave so he can finally do his job and lock the building.
You look at your soulmate. He’s already looking at you.
“Are you ready?” Eddie asks, keeping the door open for you. His eyes are burning into yours and there’s a ghost of a smile on his lips. He looks hopeful. The hand not holding the door twitches and you wonder if he wants to offer it for you to hold. You’d accept it.
You know his question is about more than just leaving the room where you’ve been trapped for a while. It’s about meetings, and golden soulmarks, and fate, and new beginnings. It’s about the love of your life, the life you’ll live together, and if you’re willing to give that a chance.
You don’t have to think about it too much.
“Yes. I’m ready,” you answer and his smile widens. You reach out first, and his hand is warm when your fingers intertwine. You know it’s the first time of many that you’ll hold his hand.
You’re looking forward to the future.

3 ways Elle encourages Tao to become a better person
Tao might be the most controversial character in the fandom. We have our baddies (Ben, Harry, David), our icons (Tori, Sarah Nelson, Aled/Isaac), and our romantic heroes (Narlie forever), but Tao is not that simple to categorize. On paper, Tao is everything you want from a friend: fiercely loyal, committed to friendship, and dedicated to protecting those he cares about. On the other hand, Tao is stubborn, opinionated, resistant to change, and makes lots of assumptions or jumps to conclusions, often to the detriment of his relationships. Every time I recommend Heartstopper, I get reaction texts from first-timers that read something like this: “I would die for Nick and Charlie…but ugh what’s Tao’s problem?”
I appreciate the expanded role that Tao got in the Netflix adaptation compared with the comic. The more I rewatched the show, the more I started to really love Tao. I also noticed something else: Elle is to Tao what Charlie is to Nick. Throughout the show, there are 3 main ways that Elle helps our favorite beanie-wearing film snob start to become a better version of himself, perhaps even his true self.
1. She calls out his bad behavior.
If Tao is being loud and obnoxious, Elle is the first to call it out. From the very first scene where we see them together in the same room, for the “emergency Charlie situation” in episode 2, Elle is not entertaining his nonsense:
T: Charlie literally won’t give up on this *straight* boy until we know for sure!
E: Oh my god, be quiet! Ok, slowly, what do you want?
When Tao is being a drama queen or catastrophizing a situation, Elle doesn’t let him get away with it. She tells him he’s being dramatic when he declares that Nick has “stolen” Charlie and initially when he makes her promise to always prioritize their friendship. She pushes him to think of others when he’s reacting badly, too, like when she urges him not to confront Charlie about Nick on his birthday, or when he’s a little too self-involved on the sidelines of the rugby match:
T: Charlie’s befriending bullies and our friendship group is falling apart, Elle. Take this seriously.
E: Hey! I didn’t come here and risk seeing all the Truham boys who used to pick on me just for you to tell me our friendship group is falling apart.
She teasingly calls him the “king of getting involved” and tries to get him to stop dwelling on his near-constant desire to talk about all the reasons he doesn’t like Nick. Elle also pokes fun at his tendency to be jealous in episode 3 when she tells him that her friends are going to Harry’s party and in episode 4 after he meets Tara and Darcy:
T: It was nice meeting your friends though.
E: Yeah?
T: Yeah. They seem cool.
E: They are.
T: Have they replaced us?
E: As if anyone could replace your incredibly annoying, loud presence in my life.
T: How dare you!
Elle is really the only one who calls Tao out, and she’s probably the only one he would listen to anyway, and I love her for it.
2. She helps him process his complicated emotions around change.
Tao really hates change, and his stress about it informs a lot of his motivations and actions throughout the show. Elle is the only person to whom Tao seems to confide about this in any serious way, and her reactions are so perfectly accepting and therapeutic. She sometimes prods him to reframe his perception about change, like during episode 3’s movie night:
E: Yeah. But sometimes change is a good thing…I was really scared no one would like me, so I didn’t even try talking to people at first. But then I realized I actually needed to put myself out there or I’d just be alone. So I think I’m going to be ok there, at Higgs. That’s a good change, right?
T: Yeah, that’s a good change.
In episode 7, she uses a combination of humor and empathy to try to show him that he will be ok. She doesn’t really try to solve everything for him; she’s just there for him when he needs it.
T: Sorry about earlier. I know it’s not your fault he hasn’t told me.
E: Charlie does want to tell you.
T: I think I know why he hasn’t. He thinks that I’ll accidentally say something stupid and out Nick to all of Nick’s mates. And obviously he cares more about Nick’s feelings than mine. Once you get into a relationship, friendships don’t matter anymore.
E: Or maybe he just thinks you’ll force Nick to watch Donnie Darko like you did with us.
T: Shut up! It’s a good movie! It’s just complicated! I don’t know why I’m so afraid of being alone.
E: That’s how I felt, my first term. I got scared. But everything turned out ok.
Elle seems to understand when to push Tao and when to give him a little room to process. That’s a hard balance for some people, but she’s such an observant and kind person that it seems to come naturally to her.
3. She makes Tao feel safe and gives him space to be silly.
In many scenes with his friends and classmates, Tao is at times brooding, competitive, sarcastic, and bossy. Yet every time we get a glimpse of Tao getting out of his own head long enough to joke around or have some light-hearted fun, Elle is at the center of it. At the sleepover at Charlie’s, he drops their serious discussion about Nick in the face of Elle’s criticism that he’s being annoying by performing his “interpretive dance.” He’s playful with her in the arcade and when they meet up at the milkshake café (their truly adorable fishing reel greeting is such an underrated gem of a moment). In episode 8, their run through the halls of Truham to the intro of “Close to You” is a moment of unburdened young joy that moves me every time. He has shown her his worst side and shared his deepest, darkest fears, and she still loves and accepts him. Indeed, Tao has never been happier and freer than he is in those episode 8 moments with Elle, and it leaves him emotionally open to realize his feelings for her are changing.
We don’t know a lot about Tao’s back story and why he is the way he is. I have a headcanon theory that his dad left the family when he was young, leading to abandonment issues. In the show, his self-awareness takes 2 steps forward and 1 step back several times, which I think is honestly a realistic portrayal of teen emotional growth. Elle is there to love and guide him, sometimes by challenging him and sometimes by giving him the space to figure things out on his own.
Love him or hate him, Tao is a fascinating and complex character. Sometimes it seems like his emotional intelligence is abysmal, but he's smart enough to know that everything is awful without Elle. So there’s hope for him yet.

Heartstopper fics!
99(ish) drabbles for writers is a drabble collection, mostly centered around Nick & Charlie
Charlie had curly hair — always mussed, possibly from bedhead or the absentmindedness of his own hands — and Nick stared; he couldn’t help himself. Perhaps, he thought, this was just a bad habit. Something like the way Charlie fiddled with his hair, fingers running through it when he had nothing else to do with his hands.
That must be it. Nick was bored, intrigued by Charlie, curious over him, friendly to him.
Women want me, fish fear me is a hurt/comfort Tara x Darcy fic centered around Darcy’s mental health. It’s about Darcy befriending a pelican and recovering from her parental trauma.

February Friday Week 4
Summary: Frances brings her new boyfriend to Aled’s party.
Notes: And here it is, the last one. Thank you @februaryfridayevents for hosting, it was a lot of fun.
AO3
Minor Characters | Rarepair | Crossover
“I am nervous.”
“Don’t be,” Frances says, like a fool. That’s the one thing you shouldn’t say to someone is nervous.
Don’t be? Wow, now all my nerves are magically gone!
But in Frances defence, she’s nervous too and nervous people say foolish things. Aled is throwing a small party. He’s celebrating the success of Universe City and his latest birthday. Frances is bringing her new boyfriend along, which would’ve been slightly nerve wrecking in the first place, but her boyfriend happens to be Rowan Omondi.
Look, Frances didn’t know she had a famous boyfriend.
She met Rowan at an event and they hit it off. Both Frances and Rowan thought that the other was an attendee, not a performer. Their acts happened at the same time in different parts of the venue, so they didn’t find out that day.
It wasn’t until their third date that they found out. They’d foolishly gone to a public space and when paparazzi started chasing them, Rowan and Frances both said: “They’re after me! They’re after you?”
(In hindsight, it was obvious that they were after Rowan. The Ark is way more popular than Universe City and Frances is mostly known for her art and voice, not for her face, but at that moment she didn’t consider that they were after Rowan since she didn’t know Rowan was in a band!)
They keep their relationship low-key and out of the public eye, so when Aled extended the invitation to Rowan, they discussed it. Both fanbases don’t know about the relationship, but close friends do, even though they never actually met each other’s friends.
“Aled’s only invited people he’s close with!” Frances had said, “His boyfriend, his sister, his friends, some other YouTube people he’s befriended.”
“Big YouTubers?”
“Honestly, Aled wishes he could call Phil Lester a friend, but nope.”
“If you say so…”
“It’ll be fun, and his boyfriend plays bass too!”
“… Alright.”
“Do you want everyone to sign NDAs?”
Frances had joked, but Rowan did consider it for a brief moment, until he realised that that was a bit much. Frances knows Rowan has had bad experiences with fans, so she gets it. This means she was super proud of him when Rowan said he’d come along.
“I trust you, Frances.”
--
Frances and Carys arrive early at Aled and Dae-Sung’s flat to help with the decorations. Even though Carys shares a birthday with Aled, they’re not celebrating their birthday together.
“Too much work,” Carys reaffirms when she tapes balloons on the wall.
To be fair, Carys’s small get together was nice too.
“It’s could’ve been worse,” Dae-Sung hands a balloon to her, “It’s us, your new girlfriend, Frances’s new boyfriend, Raine, Aled’s friends from Truham, and some podcast people that I don’t really know.”
“They’re lovely, darling,” Aled comes in and he quickly kisses Dae-Sung’s cheek, “The only people I have yet to meet are Rowan and Carys’s mysterious new girlfriend. Frances, for full transparency, I did tell Charlie that Rowan is your boyfriend.”
“Oh?”
“He’s a huge fan of The Ark. I think it may be awkward for Rowan if Charlie starts fanboying when he sees him. Now he has time to prepare. No worries, he promised he’d only tell Nick.”
“You’re so smart,” Frances says with a wink.
“I know,” he winks back.
--
Rowan is a bit later. This was planned, since he had to be in the studio. Frances tells everyone that her boyfriend will be here.
“Did he go to school with us?” Sahar asks, referring to Truham, Higgs and the Academy.
“No, but he is originally from Kent. He went to St. Thomas in Rochester.”
“Can I give him the shovel talk?” Tao asks.
“Tao!” Elle pulls Tao’s beanie off his head.
“Don’t scare him off,” Tara says, not knowing how much those words hit. Frances gulps. Tao and Elle playfully bicker some more and Darcy turns to Frances.
“Well, I can’t wait to meet him,” Darcy says.
Frances takes a large sip of her drink. She really hopes this will go smoothly. She’s met all of Aled’s friends before so she knows they’re good people, but she is still nervous. Rowan has texted that he’s on his way. He’s travelling discreetly, so he might make some detours. Ah, the price of fame!
After half an hour or so, the doorbell rings.
“I’ll go!” both Carys and Frances yell. Carys’s girlfriend is also coming later. The two share a look and Carys shrugs, so they both go to the front door.
Rowan is standing in the hallway, but he looking away. He’s staring at the direction of the elevator.
“Bliss?” he says.
“Rowan?” Frances hears a woman’s voice.
“What- How- What are you doing here?”
“I’m meeting my girlfriend’s brother!”
Frances pokes her head out of the door opening and a tough looking Asian woman walks towards Rowan with a bewildered look on her face. Rowan looks equally stunned.
“What are you doing here?” the woman, presumably Bliss, asks him.
“I told you and the guys that I was off to a party with my new girlfriend!”
“Hi,” Frances waves, “I am the girlfriend.”
“You guys know each other?” Carys asks.
Bliss stands in front of Rowan. The two exchange a long look before, to Frances’s surprise, they both burst out into laughter. Carys and Frances exchange a confused side-glare. Bliss and Rowan are still laughing uncontrollably and every now and then they utter some words between the wheezes. Frances can make out “you” “can’t believe it” “secrecy for nothing” “if we’d known” “incredibly”, but she’s none the wiser.
“Hello, two confused girlfriends are here,” Carys says.
“Also, maybe we should move this inside before anyone sees Rowan,” Frances suggests.
“Yeah,” Bliss says through her laughter, “Especially if they see him with me. The press would love that.”
“Don’t remind me,” Rowan drags a hand across his face.
Frances ushers everyone inside. She gives Rowan a quick kiss and Bliss and Carys also hold hands.
“Anyway,” Rowan says with an amused smile, “Bliss is my ex.”
“It’s true,” Bliss deadpans.
“Oh my God,” Frances mutters. Rowan has told her about his ex and how fans tore her apart. It’s one of the reason they don’t date in public. “What are the odds?”
The four of them laugh again before moving towards the living room. Rowan braces himself, but now he has two familiar faces at his side. Frances takes his hand.
“Ready?”
Rowan nods. Together they walk to the party.

Hallmark Channel Just Announced Their Christmas Movie Line-Up For December
1. ‘Mr. Christmas,’ November 5, 9 p.m. ET/PT
Starring Sam Page and Tara Holt, this classic romance flick sounds pretty fun:
“Tom Jacobs has built an entire business around helping clients find the perfect gift for their loved ones,” a blurb on Entertainment Weekly reads. “Since his company’s busiest time of the year is the holidays, he’s earned himself the nickname Mr. Christmas. When Tom’s good friend Paul comes to him asking for help in finding a gift for his girlfriend, Jenny, Mr. Christmas finds himself in a bit of trouble. The more he learns about Jenny during his research, the more he likes her, and the guiltier he feels being caught between his heart and his best friend. With Christmas rapidly approaching, Tom dreads his encroaching deadline as it will mean an end to his time with Jenny and perhaps an end to his only chance at being with his one true love.”
2. ‘A Song for Christmas,’ November 11, 9 p.m. ET/PT
Featuring Rebecca Tobin and Kevin McGarry, A Song for Christmas is a classic story of two people from two totally different worlds falling in love:
“Pop superstar Adelaide Kay is so fed up with her controlling manager that she sneaks off the tour bus after their latest squabble. Though exhilarated to be free, she finds herself stranded in the freezing cold of a Pennsylvania winter, with no money and no plan. A local family, the Lapps, take her in. They know the true meaning of the season, even if they’re close to losing their dairy farm. No one in the family recognizes Adelaide except Dillon, the oldest son. He figures she’s the ticket to fast cash and plots to snap photos of Adelaide around the farm and sell them to the tabs. What he doesn’t plan, however, is their mutual attraction. As they get to know each other, Dillon has two realizations: Profiteering from invading Adelaide’s privacy is wrong, and his uptight girlfriend is not the one for him. When Adelaide performs a song, which Dillon’s kid sister wrote, a lot of money is earned which aids the Lapps and other strapped farmers.”
3. ‘Engaging Father Christmas,’ November 12, 9 p.m. ET/PT
Erin Krakow, Niall Matter, and Wendie Malick star in movie where everything doesn’t go as planned:
“It was supposed to be the perfect engagement. What could be more romantic than a Christmas proposal in a bucolic Vermont inn? Ian has it planned perfectly, or so he thinks. Miranda, an interior designer, returns to where she met Ian, a dashing former attorney who now runs the little hotel in the quaint town of Carlton Heath. After doing some digging to learn about her family roots, Miranda had traced her lineage to Carlton Heath. Though it’s Christmas, Miranda had always done her best to distance herself from the holiday; her mom, an actress, had died while performing a holiday play. Ian has carefully planned every aspect of Miranda’s visit so he could make the most romantic proposal. Too bad the best-laid plans often go awry – even during Christmas.”
4. ‘A Joyous Christmas,’ November 18, 9 p.m. ET/PT
Although there’s very few details, this sounds like a modern take on A Christmas Carol:
“Joy may be down-on-her-luck, but her humanity is intact. She jumps to the aid of a stranger, rescuing the woman from a terrible accident. The woman who nearly died is quite successful and learns a great lesson from her accident: Helping others is the key to true success and could be the path to finding true love as well.”
5. ‘A Bramble House Christmas,’ November 19, 9 p.m. ET/PT
Get ready for tears with Autumn Reeser, David Haydn-Jones, and Teryl Rothery:
“While settling his father’s estate, Finn Conrad becomes suspicious as to why he left a nurse $50,000. His dad knew her for less than two months before he died. Just before Christmas, Finn wants to reclaim what he considers his family’s money, so he goes undercover to investigate the bed-and-breakfast the nurse has recently taken over. When Finn meets Willa, he discovers she’s not a conniving gold digger at all. She’s the single mother of a sick boy who needed an operation. Finn’s dad paid for the operation and financed Willa’s dream of running the Bramble House B&B. Though Willa and Finn are protective of their hearts for different reasons, they fall in love — until she discovers his true identity and why he was there. Now Finn must gain Willa’s trust to make this a Christmas to remember.”
6. ‘Christmas Homecoming,’ November 26, 9 p.m. ET/PT
Seriously, it wouldn’t be Christmas if there weren’t tears, this time with Julie Benz and Michael Shanks.
“A military widow, whose faith in Christmas has lapsed, rents an apartment to a handsome Army Captain, recovering from an injury in battle, and whose faith in Christmas is inspirational. As they team up to save the town’s military museum with a Christmas fundraising event, these two ‘wounded birds’ find themselves falling in love — and being healed by the magic of Christmas.”
7. ‘A Gift to Remember,’ December 2, 9 p.m. ET/PT
Ali Liebert and Peter Porte fall in love after she knocks into him with her bike and knocks him into a coma. A classic romance story:
“Darcy’s lifelong love of reading has led her to the perfect job, working in a small Manhattan bookstore. A real romantic, Darcy won’t settle for some man simply because of his job title or bank account. No, she insists on being swept off her feet. One day, while bicycling to work, Darcy crashes into Adrian, a sharply dressed gentleman walking his dog. Knocked unconscious, he’s rushed to the hospital where he falls into a coma. Deeply shaken, the guilt-ridden Darcy takes the dog home, waiting to reunite him with his owner. As she learns more about Aidan — a world-traveler, a devoted man of letters — Darcy realizes he could be the one she has been waiting for. That is, until he comes to and Darcy discovers she has created a fictional world for a very real man. Will she still fall in love?”
8. ‘Angel Falls,’ December 3, 9 p.m. ET/PT
Rachel Boston and Paul Greene attempt to reignite the Christmas spirit of a small town:
“Angel Gabriel (Rachel Boston) – Gabby – gets a special assignment and is dispatched to the town of Angel Falls.  The town has lost its Christmas spirit and Gabby is charged with the task of helping the residents recapture it.  Along the way, she befriends Jack Avery (Paul Greene), the Volunteer Fire Chief, who’s initially skeptical about her plan to revive the local Yuletide cheer.  Determined, Gabby takes a job at the local church as the volunteer coordinator and sets about her business of recruiting residents to get the town’s holiday back on track.   In the process of bringing back beloved Angel Falls Christmas traditions, Gabby has a surprising revelation about herself and her own dreams that set her down an unexpected path.”
9. ‘Unbridled Love,’ December 9, 9 p.m. ET/PT
Details are still to be announced, but it has an evil stepmother:
“Evil stepmothers don’t only lurk in castles, tormenting helpless children. Sometimes, they’re on ranches, tormenting adults. A year after her father died in a fire at their Oregon ranch — a fire accidentally caused by her stepmother, Mae — Sarah has finally found her footing, turning the family homestead into a successful dude ranch. Still, Mae is pushing to take it over, seeing it as a potential goldmine. Meanwhile, Graham, a Hollywood superstar, wants to use the ranch as the location of his next movie. Sarah isn’t inclined to allow it. During a long horseback ride through the moonlit mountains, Graham explains why this project is so dear to him. That and a soulful kiss make Sarah relent. But all does not run smoothly once the movie starts. Graham and his costar, Simone, had been involved; Sarah has fallen hard for the handsome star. Still, she won’t allow jealousy to cloud her professionalism. When Simone’s horse runs wild, Sarah saves her. And when Sarah’s evil stepmother, Mae, also runs wild — suing Sarah — Simone, in turn, saves Sarah.”
10. ‘Karen Kingsbury’s Maggie’s Miracle,’ December 10, 9 p.m. ET/PT
According to the official logline:
“Megan spent one unforgettable summer with a boy when they were teens, and she’s never forgotten his magical definition of love.  Now a high-powered attorney in New York and the single mother, her young son unexpectedly connects them again, but it’s not until Christmas when Maggie finally gets the miracle — the love — she’s longed for.”
11. ‘The Christmas Cottage,’ December 16, 9 p.m. ET/PT
Again, there’s no details on this one, but it sounds like a classic romance:
“Still only in her mid-twenties, Lacey Quinn has already given up on love. Her heart’s been broken too many times, and now she concentrates on her career as an interior designer in Raleigh, North Carolina. When BFF Ava Callahan asks Lacey to be her maid of honor, she must take on a few responsibilities, including making sure the Callahan family cottage is perfect for the honeymoon. Legend has it that if newlyweds spend their first night there, everlasting love and happiness follow. Lacey isn’t sure she buys into that notion. Still, when she finds herself snowed in there with Charlie, Ava’s brother, Lacey has to reconsider if the little house may hold some romantic magic after all — especially at Christmas.”
12. ‘When God Winks at You,’ December 17, 9 p.m. ET/PT
Kathie Lee Gifford takes a look at the origins of Christmas:
“Executive Producer and author of the When God Winks book series SQuire Rushnell presents this true story demonstrating that God communicates with us, making incredible things happen in our lives every single day.  Viewers will begin to recognize god winks in their own lives, both past and present. Through these tangible signposts from God, we receive personalized messages that reassure us, stop us from worrying, chart our path in life and help us keep the faith.”
