Projekt Red, strength and role within Rhodes.
So another Red analysis because I'm just so excited for her appearance in Season 2 of the anime!
This time analyzing Red's strength because it is not only extremely relevant to her character and history but because I found her position within Rhodes, especially at the launch of the game, to be extremely interesting.
So this'll be a bit long so under the cut.
Now I debated how I wanted to start this but how about the simple feats that we have seen from her since those are what most people should know and it's simply two.

During 6-11 Red ambushed Crownslayer and her squad, making easy work of them and ambushing Crownslayer when she attempted to get away.

In Il Siracusano, IS-ST-4 to be exact, Red assassinates Crownslayer's Mentor and Red's fellow Fang. Then when Crownslayer goes to attack her Red casually dodges and escapes.
Besides these two moments we don't see Red doing anything notable and while effortlessly dealing with Crownslayer is no small feat (she is a Fang and we don't see a single good moment of her) sadly both times Crownslayer couldn't do much because of how terrified she is of Red.
A fear that we know could knock mafiosos out in the case of Zaaro.
But see, this isn't what I think we should base Red's strength on. So how about something that's very telling?
I made a post about this but essentially: I went through every Operator's profile looking at their Combat Skill rating in their physical examination. Specifically I was seeing what Operators have an "Outstanding" which is the highest besides a rating that's immeasurable and only Chongyue has for Combat Skill.
Kal'tsit for example has immeasurable in Tactical Acumen and Skadi has it in Strength.
Of all 272 Operators only 8 (again besides Chongyue) have an "Outstanding" Combat Skill. They are:
Nearl the Radiant Knight
Mlynar
Hellagur
Qiubai
Gladiia
Ch'en
Lappland
Projekt Red
So Red is not only one of 8/272 Operators with an Outstanding Combat Skill but is in that group with those characters. Think about the Operators who didn't make that list and that Red is counted among them.
It's shocking but one other thing about Red being on this list I want to point out is that she's the one with the deepest roots to Rhodes on this list, having no other responsibilities and of them likely being the longest member, being raised by Kal'tsit and predating S.W.E.E.P.
Further to that is the fact that when the game launched only Lappland and Red were playable Operators. Which, Red being one of the few Operators with an "Outstanding" Combat skill especially prior to the Victoria arc gives us an interesting lens to look at Red's position within Rhodes Island.
So beginning with Red's files, present since launch where only her and Lappland had such a high Combat Skill rating. Her archive 1:

It makes a note of her behavior in combat, comparing it to other Operators but also saying that any mission needing her would be the most dangerous missions and that she even got a nickname for it. Something I can't remember any other Operator having (probably wrong.)
And to state again: at this time we didn't really know about the Elite Operators and only Red and Lappland had Outstanding Combat Skills.
Then throughout the Reunion arc Red is consistently trusted to guard Amiya, the leader of Rhodes Island, as well as being the only one that Kal'tsit takes with her to decrease the number of Reunion members within Lungmen during chapter 6.

Mind you that at this time Red is the only one accompanying both Amiya and Kal'tsit. No other person is required and she is the one they believe to be best suited to the job.
And oddly that's fair. Like no Operator who strictly is a part of Rhodes Island has the same Combat Skill rating as her. Even Sharp who is the same rarity, an Elite Operator and fought Degenbrecher, who I'd say is more skilled than Nearl, on equal footing when she wasn't using her best weapons and he only has an Excellent rating.
And while the Victoria arc and all we learn about Amiya and Kal'tsit would make the fact Red was chosen to accompany them was made more impressive, I also can't say they it means much with that further information.
Nevertheless, being one of 9/272 Operators with Outstanding or higher Combat Skill, the one chosen to accompany Amiya and Kal'tsit and an Operator who earned a nickname for her strength and a signal for a extremely dangerous mission-
Is a much better example of her strength than her clashes with Crownslayer ever could. In fact, if Red is on the level of Nearl, Mlynar, Qiubai and the lot and chosen for the most difficult missions, I have to wonder whether or not she could become an Elite Operator.
And maybe the only reason she isn't is because of her awful situation. Which gets us to the next segment: why she is so strong. Because Red's strength came at the cost of everything.
See Red was dragged into a game between the immortal wolves of Siracusa called the Signore dei Lupi by one of them called Grandma. This game is one where each Signore dei Lupi would raise a Fang to kill the other Fangs till only one remains and the last Fang's Signore dei Lupi becomes the Packleader.

We see with other Fangs like Bernado, Lunacub and Crownslayer's mentor that they can function fine. Teach or lead others. And to an extent that the Signore dei Lupi treat them alright, with Agnese loving Lunacub and Zaaro working alongside Bernado.
Red's Signore dei Lupi is not like that.

Grandma put Red through hell to make her strong. Didn't teach her basic human skills that'd help her survive in society or without guidance.

And so she has educational and social problems and cuts anything that gets close on top of Kal'tsit needing to help her learn to think for herself.
Grandma destroyed her just to make her strong and judging by how Zaaro was able to turn the Bellone family into the strongest mafia family in Siracusa, the Signore dei Lupi are very knowledgeable in making something strong.
Grandma just chose to ignore everything else.
And actually there's a bit of phrasing that Red uses in Operational Intelligence's After-class Homework vignette to Ifritthat I find quite interesting:

Red is very simple, blunt and black and white in her thinking and a lot of her terminology is tied up in how the Signore dei Lupi's phrase things. Calling her weapons "Fangs" for example and the use of Hunt and Wolves.
And as the Signore dei Lupi's game is decided by the strongest, this phrasing by Red is really interesting. Like her identity is that she's a wolf hunter. Her life's goal is hunting every single one down. It makes sense that this would bleed into her vocabulary and beliefs.
And yeah. She's a tremendously strong character who was made that way at the cost of everything else and who is recognized by her strength and maybe judges others based on strength.
That's the analysis.
But another thing I want to briefly mention is how similar she is to Nearl oddly enough. Like, not just that they're two extremely skilled warriors or both engaged in a tournament where traditionally only one can win and will be the strongest.
But that that their ties within Rhodes are quite deep, with Nearl being an instructor and squad leader and Red being all the things I've mentioned up to this point. But also that they joined Rhodes, not being able to return to their home and that one day they would have to return to finish things.
These thoughts being what inspired this post and thinking of Red in a similar light to Nearl before her Alter is really quite interesting. But anyway, with Red in Siracusa right now I'm excited to see her character and strength on full display.
And I hope that this was in the very least an interesting read.
Edit: I forgot that I wanted to discuss Lappland's strength to sort of understand how strong "Outstanding" combat skill means cause a lot of the other's are really big.
Like Nearl being a two time champion of the Kazimierz major that accepts warriors from outside of Kazimierz. Who beat Mlynar in a sword fight (with him not using arts) and Mlynar beating a Silverlance Pegasus captain when only eight ordinary ones could withstand any assault the Armourless Union could throw at them.
And Hellagur having fought alongside Patriot and commenting on how if not for Patriot then he would've died against those very same Silverlance Pegasus forces in Operational Intelligence.
Or Ch'en and Qiubai standing their own against Ya, an Feranmut, and on two occasions standing against Ya on their own. And Hellagur having fought alongside Patriot
Comparatively what we see from Lappland is rather ordinary but at the same time holds a weight of it's own. Like Lappland's family the Saluzzo's is really the strongest family in Siracusa. Both in terms of producing the strongest people but also as a family.
When Il Siracusano starts the Bellones got boosted by Zaaro and the Rossati's got their position through inheriting the Texas family's wealth. The Saluzzo's got their through sheer power, a historied power going back to the She-Wolf's time as Signore Sicily states they are the oldest family.

And we know the first families come from the Tribes of the She-Wolf's children.
And Lappland, even for a Saluzzo is considered an invincible monster by even her Father who killed his chosen assassin like it was nothing and held off Wallach and Demetri at the same time. Except "fought" isn't the right word because he didn't consider them worth killing and did it enough to leave.
Wallach being strong but not Texas level in the least.
And who could forget that Lappland fought a Signore dei Lupi to a standstill and was offered by Signora Sicily to be one of her Bocca al Lupo's who would be Siracusa's elite guard and by that point had already been an Enforcer for her for quite some time.
One notable example being that Lappland casually dealt with Gambino and Capone by herself without breaking a sweat and while Il Siracusano says she is equals with Texas, at the same time Lappland did win and is ranked as having high combat skill.
Like it's an impressive record and odds are we've not seen her at her strongest either since a lot of who is fought in Il Siracusano aren't that strong especially compared to Texas and Lappland.
Never forget that Demetri backed down at the sheer sight of Lappland then I believe he later fought Wallach?
But also one extra thing about Lappland is this line:

Which is definitely more of that fear that Red induces in Lupos and we see is powerful enough to weaken Crownslayer and as stated before, even knock people out so I don't think that this is an accurate statement. Especially at launch.
But if it stays relevant to Il Siracusano that's odd cause Lappland is depicted as being incredibly smart and with a mighty death wish in the event. Easily deducing things and putting together traps and showing no restraint.
Like Il Siracusano Lappland I don't know if she'd say something like this without having assessed whether she would "definitely" die or not. But two different points in the game's lifespan.

For in general, outside my squad: Passenger and Hellagur, dead-set tie.
In squad however...
I use Rope (Elite 2 LV40, M3) a whole bunch but not because I like her much, she's real easy to play and/or deploy. To put a name out there, I'll say Flamebringer (LV50)! A strong piece of work that broad lad is, his voice melts you, not literally. And his skill ain't bad out there.
I really want to finish building him (So I may invest in Passenger faster) but purposefully waiting.
I wished to quickly finish my 6 stars but building my lower star operators proved easier at the moment. Actually pretty effective against lots of stages, even one's higher level than them. Melantha and Kroos are kinda OP early game, surprisingly. Used regularly in my squads.
I've only been playing Arknights a few weeks so I' am still very new. Its mechanics are still alien to me right now, a LV 59 account currently. Still learning my way around, who's worth recruiting and who's not. Guides on Youtube help, but you have to dig a bit to find a good (Not tier lists, just to be clear) operator recommendations and reviews, especially for higher units.

Unlike Astesia, GreyThroat’s outfit I find difficult to get a grasp on. (Her Elite 2 outfit is much easier.) But... even like this it still doesn’t fully make sense to me. The cloak it so layered, that it’d deserve its own breakdown. Also, why are you just walking around wearing a neon leash? You do you, but I’m still going to question it. Until now I thought it was part of the cloak.

May is so cute here! She’s always kinda cute, but in an annoying little sibling way. Here she’s just cute. The jacket tied around the waist was always a good look. Again, love the E2 concepts. Even more varied here than with Glaucus, with some very different moods even. The final one is great, but I really love top left with the different hat too.

As someone who hasn't touched it yet- how does IS4 stack up? How's first impressions been?
Ok, let me give my thoughts on IS4, now that it's been a week!
TL;DR -> This Rocks, I love it.
IS4 is far, far more polished than IS3. I feel a bit bad blasting and slamming IS3 so much, but the bottom line with it is that it's just very very flawed in ways that really make it hard to revisit it in the same way IS2 is always a fun romp.
If I had to point out flaws with IS4, it'd be that, on a personal level, I wish it had a few more Normal Arknights Maps. The vast majority of maps in IS4 are pranks and checks of some sort. This isn't necessarily a negative, but I do like playing some Tower Defense more frequently than what IS4 allows, since it's always got me worried about "oh god my team lacks X, Floor Y's Map Z checks X, if I get it, I'll D I E " so I try to go for my super tried and true team instead of daring to experiment all that much. This will eventually pass, but it's been a Thing for me.
Besides that, though? I just have a lot of good things to say about it. The systems feel like they were thought out this time: The Fordartals (sp?) system allows for a lot of player expression, agency, and just in general fun in a way the Light system of IS3 can simply never hope to compare to. About the only thing the Light system did right was the way it worked thematically: If you wish to confront The Corrupting Heart, you really, really gotta go in the dark, and for the best possible chance against, Izumik, Mizuki must find the Light again and be filled with hope. Yeah ok sure, thematically, these work, but the gameplay component sucks ass, because Light exists almost exclusively as a form of punishment and in basically no way as something you can use. It opens some roads, sure, but that Rogue Trader and Wish Fulfilled node are not worth having 9 out of you 11 Operators with Metastatic. Speaking of Metastatic, the single worst thing Arknights has done, even if you are maxed out on Collapse in IS4 and are packing four fully upgraded maluses, THAT STILL DOESN'T COMPARE to how bad Metastatic was. Let that sink in.
The endings are no longer RNG! Absolutely wonderful!
Eik is the first IS 2nd Boss I can say I think is good! Frozen Monstrosity was just annoying, Big Sad Lock is incredibly static, and The Last Knight, in my opinion, is the single worst and most boring boss in the entire game, not even just the game mode. Eik is like if The Last Knight didn't suck: Same principle, but done in a way that is actually not snooze-inducing. Mind you, the principle of the fight is still not something I enjoy, but unlike The Last Knight, that's wholly a me thing, as opposed to being an objectively awful and boring fight (like The Last Knight, the worst and most boring boss in Arknights).
Even though I said I'd like some more normal maps, the maps are good, to be honest! I can't think of any Fire and Water Unions or Out of Controls.
IS4 is the Smash of Arknights: (Almost) Everyone Is Here! Brush up on your gimmicks from various events, because they WILL appear.
The Midboss philosophy in IS4 is lovely, in my opinion: It's low HP bosses who can quickly fuck you up in their own way, be it stun, immense conditional damage, or simply supporting their team so well that you get overwhelmed. The Variant stages for the bosses are entire new maps, so that's also cool.
Collapsal enemies are congruent with the map design: Collapsals can be very quick, with a caveat: Normal Collapsal mobs speed up after they get hit, Casters speed up after not attacking for a bit, Aerials are fast but always have many loops and never directly go to the point until after a while. Shattered Champions are the exception, and they can either loop a while or just go straight for the jugular, making them apt Elite units for the faction.
There's much more I could say more concisely, but really, just try the game mode, get your ass kicked a bit, learn it, and then you'll see how coherent the design of IS4 is in terms of systems, maps, enemies, and features. Sorry, IS3, but you got your ass absolutely kicked like I did on my Waves 15 runs when you'd give my 2 main DPS units Metastatic on Floor 5.

Hey shutters, another Arknights newbie attack!
I just got spooked by Ebenholz, he looks super cute and I'd love to use him, could you give me your thoughts on him? Would I use him instead of the single target casters I have (Amiya and Click at the moment)?
(Extra question: if you feel like it, could you explain chain casters too? Or just Leizi in particular, she spooked me as well haha)

You've come to the right place, Ebenholz is a personal favorite of mine!
Right so to understand him you're going to have to understand his archetype. Ebenholz is a Mystic Caster. Mystics differ from Core Casters (like Amiya) or Mech Accords (like Click) in that they have ginormous ATK stats but also attack very slowly, meaning if they were to repeatedly attack the same target, a Mystic will lose out to both a Core or a Mech Caster in DPS.
But! The archetypes gimmick is that if there are NO enemies to attack, they begin charging up. Let's say enough time has passed that a Mystic would have attacked 3 times already if there was a target, if there's none, a Mystic instead stores those 3 attacks as charges. As soon as an enemy walks in, the Mystic is ready to greet them like

Which could be amazing if that enemy is a dangerous one that gets instantly deleted before it even does anything, but could also suck if the target is, let's say, an originium slug.
As you may have already realized, Mystic Casters are terrible at dealing with crowds and stages that have plenty of trash enemies, but are incredibly good at guarding lanes with only occasional but highly dangerous enemies that you want to kill as quickly as you can.
As the 6 star of the Mystic Casters, Ebenholz takes the idea of the class and ramps it up to 11. His sheer oneshot burst potential is currently higher than anyone else in the game, and in fact if you look up videos of him you'll mostly see videos of people cheesing boss stages by setting Ebenholz up to oneshot the boss outright. To aid him in this, Ebenholz's talents let him store an extra charge that he will ONLY use for Bosses or Elite enemies, while his S3 makes him ignore all enemies EXCEPT for Bosses or Elites, meaning slugs and dogs and drones will fly right past him as he continues charging his attacks.
Think an operator ignoring certain enemies might be a little difficult for a newbie? No problem. Ebenholz's S2 is both automatic and ridiculously easy to understand, where as soon as his SP bar fills up, Ebenholz automatically converts any charges he's stored and drops them as goat-shaped magic mines on the stage. If an enemy touches them, the mines explode. The mines also have a pull to them, often to pull an enemy into a full minestack to deal a ton of damage. If you're intimidated by Ebenholz's mechanics, start by playing with S2, and then imagine all that damage from various mine explosions being focused into one gargantuan burst attack, that's his S3.
Oh but I can't leave you without telling you how to tell an Elite enemy from a normal one!

In the enemy information screen, Elite enemies like Heavy Defenders have that triangle logo next to their name. If they have one, it means Ebenholz will attack them even with his S3 activated.
As for bosses, they're fairly obvious to tell apart from normal enemies no?

As for Leizi, Leizi is a Chain Caster. Think of Chain Casters as the halfway point between Core Casters and Splash Casters. They shoot at a single target, but that attack can bounce to nearby enemies while slowing them. They only have a limited number of bounces so they can't quite hit theoretically infinite targets the way Splash Casters can, but since their attack bounces can move diagonally, Chain Casters are able to ricochet shots onto otherwise unreachable enemies, or else deal with a crowd that stays a little further apart to minimize AOE effects. The slow they deal on hit is also a decent crowd control option, especially in alternate game modes like IS or SSS where you can gain really large ASPD bonuses for Chain Casters so they never stop zapping an enemy.
Leizi in particular is a funny one. Her biggest powerspike isn't once she's hit Elite level 2 and it isn't once you've fully leveled her second skill. Unlike the majority of operators, Leizi's module upgrade is gamechanging for her, giving her +1 SP for every enemy she hits that isn't blocked (and remember, her attacks bounce). This lets her spam her S2 which usually has a massive SP cost and is the secret to why Leizi in particular is seen as one of the strongest carries in the SSS game mode. All you have to do is slap 5 Sniper ASPD equipment onto Leizi, point her in the general direction of the enemies, activate her S2 whenever she recharges it, and then watch her annihilate the map.

i’m so happy that he’s getting a proper rhodes uniform as an elite operator. this is a really good design. zero complaints

the design for this is incredible. she looks like a literal goddess. the little theresa in the background of it, too. it has the same energy as ines and w in hoederer’s e2 art. i love this a lot actually. i wonder what class and archetype she’ll be? medic? in chapter 12, she was helping as a medic so it would fit. her new file would also likely be really cool

lati what are your opinions on ebenholz . i'm having the biggest goat cock brainrot
so unfortunately i don't have our resident goat boy since i was absent from arknights during his banner :(( i've heard that he's pretty useful in dealing with elite/boss enemies, but he's also pretty tricky to use in regular combat like other operators.
horni wise, you can't fucking convince me that ebenholz wouldn't have a thing for fingering. he abuses your sensitive walls, curling and scissoring his fingers to stretch you out while ignoring each of your pleas for mercy. and of course he's edging you, building you right up to a climax only to tear it away from you at the last moment. and he has the nerve to tell you to keep your voice down, making sure to really dig his padded fingertips into your sweet spots as he's saying that. ebenholz has a bit of a mean streak to him :((
yes, you can grab his horns when he's in between your legs for stability. he's gonna grunt and give you a look, but he won't really do much to stop you. ebenholz lowkey finds it arousing that you have to grip onto his horns of all things just because he's making you feel that good. and he curses under his breath when he's got his dick inside you, hissing a quick "scheiße, so eng!" here and a "So verdammt gut" there.
also i'm so sure that i'll get thirsts about this bc y'all are nasty, but yes, male goats go into rut. they act weird for the does attention, especially when they smell a doe in heat. does will also do a thing called "standing heat," which is when the doe stands still so a buck can breed with her. take this information and imagine a very horny ebenholz who wants to fuck you standing up and do with it what you will.

Summary: You were not expecting to have Silverash as an operator from that discovery you and Kal’tsit find out ever since you help him out from a commission.

You may not noticed that but he is actually thankful for you that you ask Elite Operator Sharp to protect Siverash during an event, manage to make a change in Kjerag company, and to change his country for the better and have the most peaceful result than blood. Let’s be real here, you help him better than before, and thanks to you his younger sister  Ensia/Cliffheart receives better treatment and Enya/Pramanix seems to find herself at home in Rhodes Island and more.
He decided to do all of that just to show his gratitude. If you manage to make a deal with him that is where he would visit you more often just to name you My Dearest Friend just for himself, how will you be able to deal with him is depending on how will he feels about you. Let him process his emotions so he knows well that he can deepen his bond with you or give him more opportunities to at least try to win you over.
Dealing with Silverash is like dancing with him in a game of chess, who wins to the king or who losses to the king. Love is war in chess, it never fails.
But if you manage to win against him, that is where he admits his defeat. He actually enjoy his time with you, all you just need to do is to get 200% of his trust just to open up to you about his personal life. Even if you manage to win him over before...
If he DOES have feelings by any chance, he would be clingy. His tail would rather wrap around your waist or left/right leg, sometimes hugs from behind in a place with no prying eyes, or he would make a flirty yet teasing tone just to catch you off guard. He would find satisfaction by looking at your face.
And if you give him a kiss on the head or pet him or cuddle him more often, he would clearly won't mind destroying your personal space just to earn that from you.
But rest assure that he also cares for your health, but it would be different. He cares for you in his own ways really. But if no one else is keeping watch on you and Silverash, he would be near you.
And if his not around his bird Tenzin will be the one who would keep your company.
Just be aware that the Silverash clan who spotted you with Tenzin would be either confused, shocked, or surprised.
I forgot to mention about the date, the dates would be an expensive dinning place. Don't worry he pays for it cause that is his offer, but if you prefer to relax at room for cuddles he won't mind that at all.
And if he would sleep with you in your room or office, just be aware that he would have nightmares sometimes. So be there for him when he has a vulnerable side of him to you. Reassurance is something that he actually needs especially when he is at his lowest.
One thing tho, if you may not noticed Silverash happens to mark his bite on your neck without you knowing.
