Gonna huck this off the side of a mountain, give new meaning to "Red Eagle"
Or maybe I throw it at a bad bard or something, but make sure they're Nordic to properly honor his memory.
Or maybe I could just enchant myself a better fire sword than what his supposed "1000 manslaying sword" turned out to be
the forsworn's gr8test hero folks

Fools prayer part 1
———
Nerevar: *leaning on the balcony of his room within the temple of Mournhold, staring out over his city as a peace washes over him* The world eater slain. Good, it’s one less problem for our people. We’ve barely recovered from the argonian invasion and the eruption.
Divayth Fyr: *seated by the balcony, warming his fingers with a cup of tea* Indeed, and yet, something else seems to be troubling you my friend.
Nerevar: it’s nothing… *stares off over the mountain to the smoke billowing over them in the distance*
Divayth Fyr: …Was something said during your communion with the good daedra?…
Nerevar: … *looks back at him* Mephala has betrayed Azura and Boethia. The heart of lorkhan still beats… We are all in danger.
“When brothers wage war and the end times is denied once more, I shall clutch the still beating heart of creation and shape the serpents skin into the web of my perfect world.”
Vivec: *hair freshly shorn in loyalty to his saviour, laying amongst the cushions of nerevars bed, the Hortator sleeping beside him after accepting his service and allowing him to rest in his embrace. Just quietly staring up at the ceiling as he listens to him breathe* necessary… why is it necessary?… *looks at nerevar as tears sting his eyes, heart breaking in disbelief that the good daedra could want this fate for his saviour* …why does it have to be him?…
“Why do I have to kill him?…”
“It. Is. Necessary.”
———
Vivec: *quietly walking through the slums of blacklight. His hair long and tied into a heavy braid draped around his shoulders like a scarf. His body wrapped in thick robes of unassuming colours, his hands gloved and his face concealed by mask designed to mimic a normal face, one similar to those the many victims of red mountain wore to hide the deformities and blistered skin the eruption left them with. And his spear, muatra, wrapped in a cloth and secured to his back with a fishing net and line. Once worshipped, now Hidden in plain sight as just an ordinary citizen, a ghost of the past amongst the living that all would mistake for a humble fisherman at a passing glance*
Beggar: s-spare a c-coin kind sir?
Vivec: *pauses in his step and turns to face them as he pulls a bag of gold from his pocket* here friend… *places it in their hands before spotting their worn shoes barely concealing their feet* the world you walk has been unkind to you… *shifts his stance and removes his sandals from his wrapped feet, gently helping the old beggar put them on*
Beggar: oh- thank you young man, I thought all the good people had left us when the tribunal disappeared. I’m greatful to be wrong about that, thank you.
Vivec: *sighs and nods sadly, greatful for his mask hiding the pain in his gaze* I don’t think, they wanted to leave, but it was necessary they did. *gently takes their hands as if in an act of comfort but in truth using the little power he has left to give them a blessing* but I know wherever they are they still hold love for their people.
Beggar: oh I know they do young man. *gently pats his hands* you remind me a little of Vehk, actually.
Vivec: *chuckles lightly* I get that often. *stands up and nods to them in parting* good luck friend… *walks off, his feet covered in cloth but dreading against the dirt, walking as one with the people who once worshipped him. A god disguised as mortal, helping those who can’t help themselves* you’ll need it…

Hello there! I’m supremely new here (like I just found this place like a few hours ago) and I already love it! Anyways, I have a Khajiit who is a pescetarian and loves travelling around Tamriel! And of course, with travelling comes eating. What would you say is a dish that is pescetarian-friendly from each province?
Fish is a staple part of every Province's cuisine to a certain degree, and everyone has a different way of preparing it. Those with access to the ocean certainly reap its delicious bounty, making pescatarian diets fairly easy to stick to!
Altmer
Raw or lightly seared ocean fish is a specialty of Summerset, served with saltrice sauce and grated wasabi root. While it may seem gross and slimy to those who haven't tried it, raw fish like salmon, albacore, and swordfish have a delightful meaty texture and superb flavour (and aren't the least bit slimy).
Argonians
Seafood and swamp fish are a keystone of the Argonian diet, so you're in luck. Think of a rich green coconut fish curry, served over steamed coconut rice with crispy whitebait, or perhaps some fried mantis shrimp with wild garlic and chili? Whatever you decide, the Argonians are fish experts and you can't ever go wrong with an Argonian seafood dish.
Bosmer
Aside from meat, the Bosmer sometimes mix things up with some fish, which are plentiful in the rivers of Valenwood. The migratory salmon travels all the way there from Skyrim, and is therefore a consistent feature in Wood Elf cuisine. Salmon steak with a salt and honey glaze is a Marbruk specialty.
Bretons
The Iliac Bay is a fisherman's dream, and Breton dishes feature everything from clams and squid to cod and crab. The Cloudy Dregs Inn Bouillabaisse is a good example of High Rock pescatarian dishes at their finest.
Dunmer
From Vvardenfell to Windhelm, Solstheim to Blacklight, the Dunmer have always had access to seafood, and coastal Dunmer have always had an affinity for fish. Tel Branora scuttle-and-seafood pie features shrimp, fish, scuttle, and scrib baked into a wickwheat puff pastry, and is a Vvardenfell favourite (even if it is a Telvanni dish).
Imperials
The Gold Coast of Cyrodiil is a seafood connoisseur's dream, and local dishes have become synonymous with Imperial cuisine. One such dish is baked fish, cooked in a stone oven with white wine, tomatoes, basil, garlic, capers, black olives, and West Weald parmesan. Simple, but it captures the essence of Cyrodiilic cuisine perfectly!
Khajiit
Aside from the classic Senchal Curry Fish and Rice, Southern Elsweyr is famed for its seafood barbecued over coals in strips of moon sugarcane. The sugarcane adds sweetness to fish, prawns, lobster, squid, and clams, while keeping the seafood juicy over the coals. Served with rice and hot sambal, seafood doesn't get much better than this.
Nords
Salmon this, salmon that. Every Nord knows that the secret to a good seafood dish is variety! Paired with buttery mashed potatoes and brown bread (of course), for afternoons we often have an assorted spread of fishy delights. There's cured salmon with mustard sauce, brined and pickled Cyrodiilic spadetail, baked cheesy clams, creamy prawn salad, and salted cod roe paste, just to name a few.
Orcs
The Orsimer who still inhabit the frigid Wrothgar area are fond of the bountiful fish their land provides, in particularly in rivers and the sea. A hearty Orcish fish dish is fish stew with beets. The fish is first charred over a fire before being tossed into a cauldron with sweet beets, wrathberries, chunks of horker, and echatere cheese. Smoky and delicious!
Redguards
Coastal Redguards love their seafood, and like the rest of their cuisine, love it when it's flavourful! Take, for example, the quintessential fish tagine from Hew's Bane. Loaded with lemon, saffron, and exotic spices, this tagine is always served with bulgur or cous-cous and a cup of hot mint tea.

Have we ever met the Argonian babies other parents besides Ned and Shap? I really wanna see the rest of those parents dealing with the chaos of their children
working on a full image of them all rn, but in case i dont finish it tonight heres some old art of them
Tumblr media
saxhee and veesk-lo, haj-ha and tumwo are the other parents (and the actual progenitors of the eggs (with the exception of sisei who is adopted))
saxhee is the sap-speaker in training (and eventual full sap-speaker), she's a cousin of shap's. veesk-lo is a weaver and fisherman, she ends up being a close friend of ned’s (beyond just the general familial relationship). these two are the other co-parents specifically to ned and shap’s 4 kids.
haj-ha is actually a reputable retired thieves guild member (he used to be in the morrowind chapter) and tumwo is a retired ex an-xileel officer.

Skills / RP Hooks –––
Herbs, Herbs Galore: Whether it's healing draughts or poisons you need, Opal-Eyes is the alchemist you want to see. Especially if those alchemical creations involve some kind of woozy drug trip. Khajiit, come see him for your moon sugar too. He’s got plenty of that. And, just in general...
Trading: Occasionally, he'll stop by a settlement or greet a passing traveler to trade what few wares he keeps for his own. These will inevitably be nature-derived: plants, fungi, fish, leathers, bone, etc. No wood, though. Come find him to make a purchase, or arrange a meetup for him to become interested in something of yours?
Hunting / Stalking: You need someone followed through the marshes, or a guy to slit a throat or two? Unless it's an animal, he'll need a good reason -- but it'll get done swift, silent, and severe once you give him one.
Swimming: Like all Argonians, coursing through the water is just second nature. Maybe you need something retrieved from deep underwater, or to be saved from drowning, or someone to scout that island all the way over there.
Conservationism: Opal-Eyes is very, very serious about maintaining the purity and balance of his swamps. Anything from pollution to invasive magics to monstrous races must be eliminated and purged from the waters at once. Help him out as he communes with the Hist to discover something that needs handling, or hunts down an unfortunate coven of blood-cultists?
Just Shooting the Breeze: He's also just quite happy to chill and drink with locals and outsiders alike! Opal-Eyes loves a good story, a good game where gold is at stake, or a bawdy song or three. Get on his good side and he may even share some of those weird trippy mushrooms with you. Or he might send you on a fool's quest to locate a nonexistent fabled treasure at the bottom of a lake. It's all in good fun either way, and you're welcome to prank him right back later. He loves it.

Welcome to the Outlet!
Howdy! I’m Herma! I made this blog to pretty much infodump and post about my various oc’s!
OC list under the cut
The Elder Scrolls
Mara: Vampire Lord, took up Harkon’s mantle after she and Serana killed him. High elf, proficient in swordsmanship and minor magic. She has two daughters, Lucia and Sophie, and their dog, Meeko.
Equiun: Daedra worshipper and Last Dragonborn. A dark elf werewolf who said fuck it and literally became the champion of every daedric prince just so he can watch them fight over his soul when he dies. Heavy armoured, and favours big hammers. Married Jenassa, and has a son and daughter.
Solovythei: Snow Elf Listener of the Dark Brotherhood. Got sick of the Vale and Vyrthur. Spends most of their time with Cicero or Nazir.
Atrizander: Leader of the Companions and descendant of the Madgod. Heavy-armoured but prefers swords and shields. Married to Vilkas and they own dogs together.
Smoke-on-Water: Formerly Fire-on-Water but he got old and changed his name. Old Khajiit fisherman, raised by Argonians. Lives alone.
Jaxyn: Guildmaster of the Thieves Guild. Used to be a Stormcloak but other soldiers gave him shit when they found out he was born in Cyrodiil.
Prism Silver-Snare: Blind Nord mercenary. Became a sellsword to make a new beginning for himself when he started his transition.
Void and Nightingale Shadow-Flame: Twin Wood Elf archers with the Companions.
Ara: Leader of the Dawnguard. Formerly a Dark Brotherhood speaker, got a little too heated in a fight with Isran. Took up his title to avoid questioning.
Thelonius Valtieri: Descendant of Vicente. The only known person to be both a werewolf and a vampire at the same time.
Athra-gra-Kin: Orcish spellsword, raging lesbian. Suplexed Grelod and told Astrid to go fuck herself, now she runs an orphanage with her wife.
Theta Tucker: Atrizander’s ancestor, Madgod. Was just some dude who wandered into the Shivering Isles and became a daedric sugar baby.
Juno: Hero of Kvatch. Very, v e r y fucking tired, all the time. Fell in love with Martin, but lets be honest, who didnt?
Flesh-Flayer: A Khajiit nightblade who, in truth, has no clue what the fuck he's doing.
Payday
Ray: Hoxton’s arsonist little brother.
Mox: Former Cloaker, left the PD to reconnect with Bodhi after a heist.
Baron: Former mountain climber who lost a few limbs, an old friend of Duke's.
Chupacabra: Former Cartel member, joined when the gang found him bleeding out and took care of him.
Hit and Runs
The Hit and Runs is a pirate rp I'm in with some close friends.
Toreador: Resident doctor with a 99% success rate. Vampire and oldest crewmember at 784 years old. "Married" (not technically but Tori cant go on church grounds so :/) to Qamar, his nurse.
Jesse: Vengeful sea spirit, son of the captain of a different crew. Controls up to 80 disembodied hands and sports eight bright red spider legs on his back. Boyfriends with Lavender, Toreador's descendent.
Cornelius: Nicknamed Haron, one of the only children on-board (he's 17). Technically an Amnesia oc. Uses a ton of magic and is actually a horrible person but people still like him anyways for some reason.
Fleisch: A psycho from Pandora that got caught up in timey bullshit and was whisked away to the H&R universe. Technically a Borderlands oc that I made for the H&Rs.
Tchaikovsky: Russian Minotaur who has a passion for ventriloqy. Can shapeshift into a few other forms but prefers his base form. Real name is Boris.
Eileen: Cornelius' s close childhood friend. Also technically an Amnesia oc.
Star Wars (finally)
Darth Sirus: The youngest of his group. Kylo Ren's childhood friend and training buddy, left the First Order after he got sick of him.
Darth Tretcher: Half-Zabrak Sith, former scavenger.
Darth Akkosan/Kazzarakk: Also Half-Zabrak. Sirus's mentor, and honestly, the scarier of the two.
Darth Malonian: Half Gungan, Half Twi'lek. Around during the Old Republic, but got his shit rocked during Order 66 and got frozen.
Darth Parshakoth: Starweird Sith Lord, created by Abeloth for the sole purpose of saving her.
Lumia: Twi'lek engineer and tinkerer, Parshakoth's best friend and partner.
Torin: Miralukan Grey Force user. Was a Jedi during the Old Republic, but disappeared during Order 66.
Other
Scizax: Warcraft 3 oc. Devout acolyte of the undead, but also enjoys spending time around living people and plants when he can. Used to be a cleric.
Coma: Changeling echo knight. Based off of weirdcore and generally just makes it's crewmates uncomfy.
Lancelot: Borderlands oc. Fast-paced stealth fighter who worked with the presequel gang.
Payn: Just some guy. Thats it. Hes just some dude covered in bandages.
Bluey: Dsaf oc, name still in the works. Jack’s good friend and Resident “Dude who chases Dave with a flyswatter”
The Window Tapper Incident: Trollge oc, fucking feral but has a decent singing voice.
Mal Day: Analog horror oc, based heavily off of the intruder from the Mandela Catalogue.
Mozi: FNaF oc. Moth animatronic who runs a meow-wolf-esque section in the Pizzaplex.

So, the future badass couple has officially teamed up, and they’re ready to take Skyrim by storm.
I said I’d talk a bit about how these two ended up travelling together, and how they forged such a deep bond so quickly, so here goes. I’ll also muse for a bit on my headcanons for Derkeethus, because as with many of the Skyrim followers, he doesn’t get his personality fleshed out all that much by the game itself, so I’ve tried to draw on what there is to give him some more characterisation.
After J’shana takes Derkeethus back to Darkwater Crossing, they’re promptly attacked by a dragon. This isn’t just headcanon - it was exactly what happened the first time I played through the game, and this time around I lured the dragon from the nearby lair over to the Crossing so I could repeat the whole scene. (I put a ridiculous amount of effort into my roleplaying sometimes.)
So naturally, once it’s dead, J’shana absorbs its soul, and Derkeethus (along with the rest of Darkwater Crossing) realises that she’s Dragonborn. And Sha gets a bit distressed, because just last night she was talking to these people like a regular person, and now they’re looking at her as if she’s something different and special. Along with all her other insecurities about being Dragonborn, it’s now making her feel separate from everyone else, and it’s just one more hurt on top of the pile. She turns to leave, but Derkeethus runs after her and asks her what’s wrong, so she explains.
And Derkeethus promptly offers to join her.
A few things about Derkeethus are clear from the game: firstly, he’s an adventurous spirit, and secondly, he’s a really loving, humble and plain nice guy. The former is pretty obvious: he’s an Argonian in Skyrim, living in a settlement with no others of his own kind, he eagerly says ‘A fine place to find trouble!’ every time you pass a cave with him, and he wandered off from his village to explore Falmer-infested tunnels. I like to think that while he does love his friends and work in Darkwater Crossing, he’s also suffering from a bit of small-town boredom, which is why he went wandering off into the caves and got himself captured. So he’s actually quite eager to join J’shana on a Great Quest.
As for the second, thing, it’s very telling that he’s friends with Sondas Drenim - y’know, a Dunmer, the people who normally have very bitter rivalry with the Argonians - so he’s clearly an open-minded chap. And Hrefna, the little girl who lives in Darkwater Crossing, says that Derkeethus regularly takes her to swim in the river. He also has a lot of really very sweet follower and marriage dialogue. Obviously, this is an Argonian with a big heart.
So when he realises just how darn lonely J’shana is, Derkeethus quickly decides he’s not letting her face all of this on her own. And at first J’shana’s reluctant - it’s a recurring flaw of hers that she’s just terrible at accepting help and support when she needs it, because she’s afraid of bringing people into danger. But eventually she agrees that Derkeethus can join her, at least until they’ve found Esbern.
By the time they’re heading to the Throat of the World to inquire about Dragonrend, they’re both very aware that they forgot about this being a temporary arrangement. But by that time, of course, neither of them wants Derkeethus to leave. Because even if J’shana worries about getting him into trouble... it means so darn much to have a friend with her. To not be alone any more. And to have that friend be just an ordinary person, a miner and a fisherman, not a great warrior raised on stories about what the Dragonborn’s meant to be. Someone who’s adventurous enough to not be afraid of the risks, and kind enough to see her as just J’shana first and foremost, and the Dragonborn second.
And that makes it a lot easier to think that being Dragonborn might not be all that bad, after all.

Tell me about your nerds. In any universe. Particularly Valus and S'ranni.
I covered most of Valus and S’ranni’s history together in the Elder Scrolls AU in this ask, actually!  In Mass Effect, though, things are a bit different.  For instance, Sorani Nieriax is a far more ruthless and calculating individual, not quite the tragic story she is in Elder Scrolls.  While their aims are similar, the motives are very different: Sorani wanted to build a criminal empire in the Terminus and become top dog(s) to live in the lap of luxury for the rest of her days.  S’ranni simply didn’t want to lose her place aboard the Talon, along with the others of the crew who had no business skills or would become restless with mere menial labor.
And, of course, the mutiny is also very different.  In Elder Scrolls, the mutiny was an unintended conflict, brought on by high tensions and lost tempers.  Sorani planned it out in Mass Effect once it was clear Valus wasn’t going to see eye-to-eye with her.
As for the differences in Elder Scrolls and Mass Effect Valus, there are quite a few!  Argonian!Valus was a mere fisherman’s child and grew up a fisherman himself, having never even picked up a weapon before he was press-ganged into service aboard the Talon.  Mass Effect Valus was a soldier for most of his teenage and adult life, even being a mercenary soldier for a short stint before going independent.
Hope that was satisfactory~

Ooc: I read somewhere that the Hist itself is like a massive computer that basically uses Argonians to experience Nirn and collect stuff to one day return to the Hist itself to catalogue
And some I guess theorize that the Hist is attempting to create its own universe free from cycles and Kalpas or whatever
Like something independent from the Dream of A God thing that Nirn has apparently got going on
Therefore, Dreams-of-Waterfalls is something I was picturing based on a superstition I read about Black Marsh natives. They believe that an Argonian that has not touched the Hist has not been given a soul.
I ran with that like, Akatosh/Auriel helped the "soulless" Skyrim native Argonian, by replacing their soul with a piece of their own. I also kinda joke/reference about how lizards need to bask, by having Falls revere the sun and Auriel. They don't feel it would be entirely respectful to outwardly claim Auriel as a personal deity, but they make the pilgrimage to the Chantry sometimes. Mainly to visit Gelebor. (They're a bit guilty about how many snow elves theyve had to kill exploring Dwarven ruins for treasure. The Sun Hallowed Arrows are always nice though, since they are pretty militant about destroying undead.)

I made a new Skyrim character because I have a life He's an argonian named Jimothy the Conqueror Jimothy is great I have this whole idea for a backstory for him So he started out just as a humble fisherman, but everyone in his town was murdered by a dragon, so he ended up becoming the leader of the town, much to his dismay, and killing the dragon Then when the empire realized he was living alone in a town filled with dead people, they arrested him and sentenced him to death And he just wants to go home and sleep

So finished tonight’s game of dnd and eeeee I’m so excited for it!
We already met Vivec during our session zero, essentially he’s the one trying to rally us all together but our meeting was very rocky to say the least!
Soleili’s method of hunting is laying down in and covering himself in snow with some food ontop of him. 80% of the time it works and he catches an animal like a rabbit when he feels it step on him. The other 20% is when he either falls asleep or a troll or wolf sneaks up on him. Yes he’s had a giant step on him once and the poor thing was very apologetic for squishing him.
But when Dra’nor tags along for hunts he lays in wait until Soleili springs up so he can catch the prey if it runs away.
Well cut to Soleili springing up out of the snow and tackling Vivec to the ground thinking he’s a deer and before either of them know what’s going on Dra’nor in a revenge fueled rage charges forward wanting to kill Vivec only to fail his dex save, trip over his own tail and smack face first into a rock.
After calming us down all be it it was easier for him to calm down Soleili than dra, he explained the situation and the time rift. How it was torn open and now everything’s wrong, the empire never invaded resdane and the tribunal are still in power, the snow elves and dwarves are still extinct but the dragons never got sent forward in time, the aldmeri dominion has taken full control over the empire because talos never got access to the heart of lorkhan, and slavery is still very much a problem in morrowind. All of this, and now there’s two Vivecs, the good one trying to atone for his short comings as a living god, and the current living god who stands by his decision to keep argonians and khajiit as slaves to keep his people happy. There’s a lot of fucked up things he did. But even worse news is bad Vivec wants good Vivec dead so it’s just a huge mess at the moment. But he told us where to find him if we want to take him up on his offer, Dra’nor pretty much ended the conversation by telling him to go fuck himself while ushering Soleili away back to their home.
Cut to tonight’s game and we ended up taking their offer as a group of aldmeri soldiers tracked down our cave after hearing about possible sightings of a non corrupted snow elf. And after a harrowing escape we found ourselves at a tavern in winterhold. Dra’nor was almost denied entry being a khajiit so I got my first charisma rolls in for the evening and the first dirty 20 of the game and after convincing the guards he was my body guard we got in and met Vivec and the rest of the group.
My cousins playing a dremora who ended up stuck on tambriel after the oblivion crisis and was named Leaf by an elderly woman who found him close to death because he kept trying to say “leave me alone” but could only get out the first part. He learned to care for mortals and spent the rest of her life caring for her, after she passed away he found himself left wandering for someone else to help. His role is cleric/fighter.
My friend who played the vestige in the last game is now a hagborn named the seer of the black wastes. Pretty much the son of a hagraven and usually a Breton reachman. We don’t know much about him except despite looking like a raven personified he really likes books and colourful glass. He likes the way the light hits soleilis eyes because they look “like ice, nature’s glass.” His role is a Druid.
My friend who played the nerevarine is a ridiculously smol argonian named Skipper. He apparently never got enough hist sap as a hatchling and just looks so damn smoool! He was born just before his village was ransacked by dark elves looking to kidnap more of his people to be slaves and upon seeing everyone being taken away he waddled out of the hist pools and after them not wanting to be left behind. He hid in a barrel and after the ship got caught in a storm he rolled overboard and washed up in windhelm where a fisherman took him in… If anything bad happens to him I swear to god I’m killing everyone and then myself! He’s taken to riding on Dra’nors shoulders 😭 I can just imagine only seeing his lil face through the mane! He’s an artificer and makes the most fucking adorable little gadgets! His weapon is a god damned sling shot!
My other friend is playing Vivec as I mentioned and his class vivec. The bitch can do anything, he’s a bard, a fighter, and a sorcerer albeit with some major handicaps to keep it fair!
And my girlfriends joining the table the next game as a student of vanus galerion, she had work tonight so couldn’t make it that and her decision to join was very last minute so she still needs to do her character sheet but eeeee I’m so excited to see her join!
But after getting acquainted with everyone and what’s going on we had our meals, got the room situation organised, all paid for by vivec. Soleili had a hot bath for the first time in his life he can remember but spent it with his ears covered by a towel because the number of Nord men trying to figure out what he was made him uncomfortable, that changed quickly when dra’nor emerged from the water looking like a wild Sabre cat with a tiny lizard on his head scaring them off.
And after a bath Soleili watched the local bard performing and asked if he could have a go at his lute. With a 19 I earned 10 septum’s that I then gave 5 of to the bard for letting me play and the other 5 to dra’nor because Soleili has no clue what money is. He also got hit on by the bar maid and was just so utterly clueless, to be fair though he was more so bewildered as to why the nords weren’t trying to kill him or put him in chains for just existing as half snow elf and if anything were being kind to him.
It ended with a cuddle puddle between Soleili, dra’nor, and skipper. A very short game but it was fun! I can’t wait for our next one! ~Bambi

What kinds of foods were you not expecting certain races to enjoy? Like, things you thought for sure the Altmer wouldn't eat EVER, but they actually do?
There are certainly a surprising number of culinary irregularities all Tamrielic races have, despite the overwhelming number of picky eaters (Skyrim and Valenwood, I'm looking at you). These are some of the ones which caught me off-guard...
Argonians
Traditional Argonian cuisine is known for being spicy and a whirlwind of flavours, so the mildness and complexity of foam frog soufflé was not what I expected! In terms of taste and texture, it's comparable to the classic Breton orange liqueur flambéed soufflé. The naturally-occurring foam generated by foam frogs is whipped with coconut milk and scuttlebloom nectar, then gently baked in delicate clay ramekins in a traditional stone oven. It is then sprinkled with a bit of coconut sugar, and drenched in sweet banana liqueur before getting blasted with a Flame spell right at your table! Don't think you can try this at home though- this recipe takes a lot of skill to pull off, and is considered one of the most impressive dishes in Saxhleel cuisine. And yes, it's Breton-approved, but don't tell them that the frog foam is actually residue from mating and is filled with tadpoles.
Breton
On that note, the Breton kitchen is full of surprises! It's well known that High Rock gastronomy is very focused on sit-down meals and the correct use of cutlery, so finger foods aren't very traditional, even among the common folk. It blew my mind when I first visited Daggerfall and found taverns and market stands selling Orcish kebabs! These messy, enormous rolls have been downsized (and underfilled) to suit Breton tastes, but the strongly spiced goat meat, frost mirriam yoghurt sauce, and tasty radish balls are true to the original! You'll even find nobles sending their butlers out to procure a hot kebab for them to eat out of view of the public eye...it would be mortifying if somebody saw a drop of chili sauce dripping down a noblewoman's chin!
Bosmer
Green Pact Bosmeri food isn't known for its sweets, so the very existence of meat-based desserts was initially baffling to me. A Valenwood favourite is the boiled pudding, which is made from eggs, milk, suet, and cricket flour, and sweetened with imported sugar, sweet condensed milk, or candied fruit. As such, these dense puddings are sometimes known as Falinesti Forbidden Fruit, and they're sometimes decorated to look like large oranges, apples, or coconuts for the shock factor! And if you're curious to try this strange but tasty dessert, you'll be pleased to know that a new recipe is coming soon...
Nords
I admit it, Skyrim cuisine can be a little bland compared to the food of most other races, but this little gem is a dish most outsiders don't know about- Akaviri casserole. I don't know if it's actually Akaviri in origin, or if somebody just thought it sounded exotic, but it is deceptively spicy, and not in a way most Tamrielic people know it. Its key ingredient is frost peppercorns, which grow at high altitudes in Skyrim and around the Druadach Mountains, are coveted by alchemists, but also pack a serious punch in any dish. While regular chilis have a sharp burn, frost peppercorns leave a numbing, tingly feeling that spice masochists love. Anywhere from a couple of peppercorns to a whole fistful of them go into a casserole dish with an eidar cheese sauce, venison, juniper berries, and vegetables like potatoes and carrots. In other words, it's just another Nord dish...but painful.
Redguards
I mentioned a while ago that Redguards detest moldy or fermented foods, due to the close association with rot and death. There is an exception to this however, and it's surprisingly something that's served in every Hammerfell household: fish paste. Similar in taste to the Imperial garum, fermented fish paste is literally made from leftover fisherman's offcuts which usually have been left out in the sun all day. Rather than leaving the scraps to the vultures, at the end of the day they're shovelled into stone amphorae containing gods know what (it's a closely guarded secret) and are left to ferment for two days in a cellar. Of course, there are plenty of posh Redguard fish pastes on the market with Abecean longfin caviar, but this is first and foremost a food of the common people, with humble (if slightly gross) origins.
Imperials
I've always loved the predictability of Cyrodiilic cooking...until you find something like barbecued minotaur ribs. Ribs aren't anything surprising, but Imperial ribs are usually tender, delicate lamb or faun. Eating is a serious, dignified affair, so this is a completely astounding defiance of customs. Minotaur meat is a rare delicacy, and they're normally basted in a red wine, honey, and mustard sauce, and grilled on flaming coals. The end result is a meaty, sweet mess, and definitely just as undignified to eat (if not moreso) than the Breton kebabs. If you're willing to get your hands dirty and abandon haughty Imperial decorum, you've found a carnivore's dream.
Khajiit
Gryphons can be dangerous pests to the Khajiit living outside city walls in Elsweyr. When they've snatched enough sheep or wounded people, villagers will often band together and hunt the responsible gryphon, and eat it at a communal feast. A successful gryphon hunt is a cause for celebration among Khajiit, and is seen as a good omen and blessing from Hircine, the Hungry Cat. The reason this is fascinating to me is that gryphons are sort of like a cross between turkey and beef in form and taste, and no other race eats them. After it is plucked, gryphon meat is hacked into chunks and distributed by the clan chief between households, who then cook and share it with the village. Gryphon dishes range from red curried gryphon with saffron rice to a simple roast gryphon with moon sugar.
Altmer
It's an industry joke that cooking for High Elves is like trying to milk a kagouti; it makes no sense, they're probably going to get mad, and it's impossible. Imagine my astonishment, then, when I learned that even haughty Summerset is not immune from the delicious clutches of...macaroni and cheese. They'll opt for ingredients like cave-aged, 80 year old vintage indrik cheddar or authentic Cyrodiilic buckwheat  orrechiette, but I was shocked that this humble dish was a treat that's well-loved in Summerset, despite its lack of technical complexity. It's a rare treat though, because all that cheese grease is bad for the Altmer complexion!
Dunmer
Nothing is particularly surprising from the old guard of traditional Vvardenfell cooking- after a few kwama eggs and guar steaks, you get the general idea. What I do find surprising is the emergence of Skyrim Dunmeri cuisine. It's been a couple of generations since the refugees fleeing Morrowind settled in Solstheim and largely Windhelm, and those born in Skyrim have developed a cooking style of their own. Based on traditional Dunmeri dishes like crab meat and scuttle, you'll find local ingredients used as substitutes. Apparently, the juices from Nord pickled herring makes the perfect substitute for kwama egg whites...I'll leave it at that.
Orcs
It's known that the radish is an Orc's favourite vegetable, and it's served tender, crunchy, baked or raw in any Orcish dish under the sun. Radish tea-sandwiches are therefore one of the more confusing foods I've come across, though they're mostly served by Wrothgarian and High Rock Orsimer. Soft wheat bread is buttered and layered with horseradish chutney, raw radish slices, and cucumber slices. They're cut into dainty triangles are are usually a snack food, though other races view them as canapés served at high tea or parties. However, when I asked an old hearthwife on Betnikh about radish tea-sandwiches, I was threatened a beating because it was embarrassing, and to tusk off and find some mammoth. If you never hear from me again, you know who got me.

I was told I hatched from an egg found while net fishing Lake Honrich. I don't always understand other Argonians very well due to how I hatched outside of Black Marsh and was deprived of the Hist that my kind tend to drink from as they grow from hatchlings. That being said, I'm probably fine. I mean, I am Dragonborn. ♡ Some Black Marsh natives would say I lack a soul from my Hist deprivation. Perhaps I was compensated through Akatosh's pity. That's just conjecture on my part, though.
