SnaccPop 2024 Agenda - New Focus, More Content!

2023 was fun-- but rough.

Now, SnaccPop is headed more than ever by a whole collective of impressive people from not only all over the world, but all over the creative spectrum! And in assembling the SnaccPop crew, we've been adjusting during the end of the 2023 year.

2024 is where that adjustment turns into progress!

OUT WITH THE OLD! (Old projects, that is-)

While SDJ has seen delays and a new episodic structure, we are in the process of pushing for a 1/2 release (demo included) by the end of the year! We hope a single-time purchase with free content updates will keep the game fresh for longer in the hearts of players. And we're hoping to have at least 1/2 of that story out by the end of the year!

Audio Drama Content and BoTM Returns!

Audio drama and BotM content both did very well with audiences during their limited appearances last year! With Project Drama Boy (a non-series roleplay audio initiative) and BotM returning, we're hoping to have more content available to fans this year too!

More Free Content!

We see that we have an ever-growing free-tier fanbase forming. We, at one point, used to make audio dramas free after a certain period! And while this model did take some effort, we'd like to make it our goal to put out additional free content for our subscribers to enjoy, regardless of their financial situation!

More ART!

With additional artists on hand, we're hoping to bring you more accessible art content (SFW or otherwise--) to go with your games, audio, updates, and posts! We'd like to see comics, artist collaborations, and more going forward!

AphroDesia FINALLY

Due to voice actor scheduling mishaps, sick leaves, and more, AphroDesia sadly saw 2023 with minimal updates. But we'd like to see the series fully revived with an audio pilot and a comic series!

We'd like to take a moment to thank everyone who supported us through 2023. We understand that we fell short of our goals, but this year we'd like to take this year head-on!

Mafia AU - A Sunny Family Name

I was thinking about the Mafia AU and I remembered a detail that slipped my mind in my most recent posts for it. In the SunnyTime Town AU, and in the trading cards for the SunnyTime Crew Show, Jack's parents actually have surnames. Heck, they even have an entire family tree!

Credit to Sauce for their amazing art and ideas as always. Why not consider dropping them a kind word or two? Also, consider supporting them and the rest of the SnaccPop Studios team by signing up for their patreon. Just remember not to share anything privately posted.

Since the SunnyTime Town AU and its clowns play important roles in the Mafia AU, it's only right that I use the proper family name. The Blouins are one of the biggest crime boss families in St. Valen's, with a long and shady history. Jack Blouin is the current head of both their legitimate business and their less than shady dealings.

Marceau Blouin has been in the business of committing international crimes for a long time. He has quite a few rumors about him, but few dare to speak badly of him.

Lucy Connolly, who still uses her maiden name, is very well known in the business world for her bubbly and friendly personality. She is the brains behind their family friendly front facing business. Between her and Marceau, they practically took over the city.

While the parents have stepped back from being in charge, Lucy and Marceau do help out from time to time. You never truly leave the family after all.

Speaking of family members, Caleb Connolly, the estranged brother of Lucy, tries to keep his distance from his sister after he realized just how deep and dark this new life she built for herself with Marceau was. She used to be such a good girl, and he always tried to protect her, keep her from getting into trouble and straying down the wrong path

It was evening in the fire temple, and the golden light of the slowly setting sun bounced off the walls delicately illuminating the halls. Geras had finally settled down after finishing his duties. He found peace in the untroubled air about him. He smiled to himself as he closed his eyes and took in the tranquil temple around him. The wind blew a gentle and cool breeze, Geras couldn't help but notice something different about this wind though. It had a faint perfume scent to it, it was so...familiar. Like he

The gleaming sky and serene climate were suddenly interrupted by a sudden crackling sound. The sound of a portal opening. Immediate opening his eyes, Geras rose to his feet and slowly approached the portal.

"Geras." Liu Kang's voice called out from the portal. "Lord Liu Kang," he said with a weary smile. "I trust the mission was a success. All of Shang Tsung's assailants have been eradicated?"

Liu Kang excited from the portal, raw energy crackled around his body as he made his way out. He looked around and saw the serene nature of the temple, he couldn't help but close his eyes and breathe in the fresh air, a relief from the troubles of today. "Fortunately, yes. How are Raiden and Kung Lao? Have they advanced in their training?"

"Yes, their strength grows as the days pass. They even talk about pursuing Shang Tsung and Quan Chi." Liu Kang Shuddered at this idea. "That could be dangerous, I fear they are not yet ready to face the pair.". Geras could not help but nod in agreement "Indeed, but Raiden has proven himself time and time again. With Kung Lao by his side, I dare say that there is nothing they can't do."

Liu Kang faintly smiled at this notion. He retreated to a nearby beach and sat down, letting out a sigh of relief as he did. He finally found a chance to rest. "We must keep working to locate the two," He bellowed, "With every passing moment more and more lives are at stake"

"Fear not, Lord Liu Kang, the deadly alliance is the only threat to the realms, with defeat we might just find peace once more.

Liu Kang smiled at this, the prospect of peace returning brought him to a place of inner peace... Until he remembers something: you. Liu Kang turned to Geras and opened his mouth to speak. But before he could even utter a sound, another crackling sound averts Geras's attention. He turns to face the still-open portal as someone begins to make their way out.

You make your way out, sauntering onto the cool stone floor of the sample, and you elegantly brush the energy sparkles of you. Geras is taken by surprise by this. He stares at you for so long. His serious demeanour softens as you smile sweetly at him. "Y/n..." He finally forces it out of his mouth, a soft murmur rather than his usual stern voice. "I-Is that t-truly you?" he stammered. He didn't usually do that, except for you, only for you. You awaken a feeling inside him that he hadn't thought about for aeons. He immediately remembers everything, when you and he would work under Kronika, the time you spent together whenever Krinika looked away even for a second, how you always managed to make him blush and forget his words, he even struggled to remember his own name.

"Geras." Liu Kang called out. There it was, he remembered. Geras immediately snapped out of his reverie. "Forgive me Lord Liu Kang, I...I forgot myself" he said as he began to straighten himself up. "What are you doing here, how are you even here?" You open your mouth to speak "I found her on the beach," Liu Kang interrupts, earning a glaring side-eye from you "I brought Y/n here hoping you would know what to make of this circumstance. As a fellow creation of Kronika, I was hoping for your sight on the matter."

With a nod, Geras turned to face Liu Kang. "Y/n is one of Kronika's less devious creations. They meant to be a hand servant to her, as well a beacon of merriment and passion.". Liu Kang takes a moment to process this "Do you suppose that she is of any threat."

"No, she is virtually harm-I can speak for myself on this one." You interrupt as you step in front of Geras, putting yourself in between the two. "No, I am no threat to your precious timeline. And, mind you, I'm standing right here. I can speak for myself. I could have told you all of this on the beach." You begrudgingly huff, You didn't like this, being talked about like you weren't even there. You straighten yourself up from your outburst and regain your composure, smiling gracefully at Liu Kang.

Liu Kang stared at you thoughtfully, the recent conflict with Titans Shang Tsung caused him to be sceptical about things. But, if he was willing to give Geras a chance, then surely he could do the same with. "Forgive me, Y/n, I judged you too harshly. I would be honoured to welcome you to my home and my timeline" He gave a slight bow to show respect.

You merely roll your eyes "Yes, yes, honour and all that." Taking him by surprise, you outstretch your arm to the Fire God. "Well?" "Well?" He answered back. "Aren't you going to show me this new world, my new home?". "Oh, of course. Forgive my lack of hospitality. I will show you everything you need to see.". And with that, Liu Kang takes your hand. He is not as rough as he was last time, this time he is much gentler. He carefully pulls you away as Geras beams on in his remembered awe of you.

"Yes," you muse with a delighted smile, "Show me the world which you shed the blood of my mistress to create".

Sunny Day Jack - Mafia AU - Family Business

After my last post about the Blouin family in the Mafia AU for Something's Wrong with Sunny Day Jack I wound up going on a little extra ramble over on my twitter (calling it X is too weird for me) about how the family business got started. I figured I'd post it here too to make it easier to read and reference later.

It all started with a small business run by the beautiful Alma Blouin and her husband ???

I'd call him [Redacted] but that alias is taken already, so let's stick with what was written in the family tree, shall we?

I was inspired by Makes me Smile, an engaging story written by Sauce that takes place in the SunnyTime Town AU, that it actually started as a family-run traveling carnival that was a cover for more shady business. The family name and business wound up taking up some permanent roots in St. Valens because of Marceau.

There were more opportunities in that crime-riddled city to do backrooms deals, score illicit substances, and other stuff like that. St. Valens was a city rife with crooked cops and people with dubious morals. Sadly, this hasn't changed in present day. If anything, it's only gotten worse. It just can hide behind a shiny new coat of paint and colorful smiles thanks to the Blouin family taking over so many local businesses under their brand name of SunnyTime LLC.

Lucy Connolly is actually responsible for the SunnyTime brand, which is one reason why she kept her last name even after marrying Marceau Blouin. Since she was young, she wanted to make it big in the city, really clean up the town. She succeeded in making it big, but somewhere along the way she got sucked into a world full of sin and vice where her formally black and white view of morality was blurred with many shades of gray. She's still trying to do the right thing, particularly for her family and people she wants to protect, but sometimes she found it was necessary to do morally questionable things to do it. It was a slow corruption of innocence in a sense.

In a way, Jack gets his more twisted view on right and wrong from Lucy, as Marceau is a bit more up front about how messed up the criminal underworld is and their involvement in it. Jack tries to keep things as "friendly" as possible if he can help it, so to speak.

Marceau started off the business in St. Valens with an entertainment club. You had to know the right signs to get access to the good stuff they didn't show on the menu, stuff that could get you thrown in jail if you didn't have the money to pay off the cops.

One night, Lucy stopped by the club that had suddenly got so popular, thinking it was entirely legitimate, and it led to that fateful first encounter between her and Marceau.

Marceau didn't think he'd be staying in St. Valens long, even if he was trying to take advantage of the place for as long as possible, but Lucy was invested in the city, as it was her hometown. She was friendly and outgoing, and she knew a lot of people there. She grew up with them.

Lucy had a good sense for business, which places would be good to snap up for a song. She knew about the issues with many local gangs and how they intimidated local businesses into giving them a cut of their earnings to not get roughed up. She wanted to stop that sort of thing from happening so that innocent people could live their lives without fear.

Which is why the Blouin family in the present does take care of the citizens of St. Valens and stomp out more unsavory practices like human trafficking. Essentially Lucy wanted justice and went vigilante. (Insert Joker reference/joke here.) When it became clear that not everyone she tried to save was good, well…

That led into her corrupted world view and a more "ends justify the means" approach.

Marceau had been taught to watch his back and stand on his own, not having the best home life. In a sense, Lucy taught him to care more about others, that he could have someone he could trust to watch her back, and he taught her how to not let others take advantage of her and those she cares for.

Really, in the present day, the Blouins own a lot of businesses in a variety of sectors, from entertainment to scientific research to home electronics to weapons manufacturing. They're spread out across not just the SunnyTime LLC brand, but plenty of sub-companies with different names that the average person might not realize is owned by them. The SunnyTime brand has become a known trustworthy across the country and are spreading out slowly internationally.

Well… technically the family business is known internationally, just not in any public circles, and not under any brand name. Marceau alone has committed quite a few international crimes, though no one has been able to pin anything on him publicly. Lucy does a good job of keeping their public facing image squeaky clean, and she won't anyone hurt or take away any of her family.

Now that Jack is in charge, it's his turn to take care of the family and the business. Despite his issues with human touch, both them, and his sunshine, are in good hands.
