Hinata Hyuga Slander and why it is obnoxiously idiotic.
I actually thought the Hinata Slander was a joke or one or two people sided with it. But I am totally taken aback to realize that it’s actually real—and a little popular—it’s real?
Prepare for a run down through Naruto Series kids, because some few fellas clearly did not watch it properly. Either that, orrr…they’re filled with unreasonable hatred for a character who should be the last to be hated. By literally anybody.
I’m going to try to keep this short (I’m lying), but there are going to be topics on Hinata I’m going to go over so it’s not a messy bunch and rather organized and you can skip to which ever you find most relevant.
Before anything, a remark, I never overly cared for Hinata’s existence and she isn’t even in my top 15 Naruto characters but that does not mean I dislike her nor do I look down at her character. Now imagine a person like me going out of their way to take time and write an entire blog for her—yeah, it’s that ridiculous.
There will be that one person—and I’m saying this beforehand—who will barely skim through this and childishly reply to my blog. Catch me caring though!
Tumblr media
All of the topics will include manga based evidence as well as a breakdown of the scene and what they portray, therefore, canon reasonings. There are plenty of other and more evidence out there, I will only provide some and main ones that back up claims. Here are topics I will be going over:
Hinata Hyuga as an anime character/character writing
Personality
Goals & Dedications
Skills & Strength
Incessant Love for Naruto Uzumaki
Tumblr media
#1 Character Writing
While many people believe that Kishimoto is terrible at writing female characters, I’d like to disagree. Females like Temari, Konan, Ino, and Karin all pass the main checkmarks of being an exceptionally “good” character; a solid background/past, special abilities, and set personality. What I do agree with though is that he does not know how to put them to use, and it is obvious why. These females were not the only ones tossed aside—so were good characters like Lee, Neji, Jiraiya, and so on, all because of the author’s obsession with the Uchiha as well as Sasuke’s story.
Hinata is included in the “good” character checklist, and rather exceeds. The difference between her and the rest of the women is that she is the best representation of an individualistic woman and had incredible character development.
↓ How did we go from a girl so easily shaken and brought down with mere words
Tumblr media
↓ To the girl who had the guts to charge against an Akatsuki member,
Tumblr media
↓ And seeked frontlines during the war?
Tumblr media
It may look like it’s only for the sake of Naruto, but it’s not entirely the reason, only partial. Everybody was set on saving Naruto anyway, instead of fighting the war themselves because they knew Naruto was their key to winning.
Hinata’s introduction may have started with her admiration for Naruto Uzumaki, and it did play a big part, but her entire existence never just revolved around romance. She had way more to her. Hinata’s character itself promotes women empowerment despite her not being the main female protagonist.
Through her writing, we learn that women don’t need to not seek love in order to be independent and a powerful female with goals and dedications that have nothing to do with romance. Hinata is a perfect example of this.
As a side-side character, Hinata excels in character writing, and is interesting enough to keep the audience invested in her existence. The next few manga pages and break-downs will explain it well.
Tumblr media
#2 Personality
Her personality did not revolve around her undying love for Naruto only. She was her own person, too.
↓ While shy and timid, Hinata is also a pure and kind hearted soul, as we do not know any character she actually has bad blood with, making her somebody easy to be around with. She’s very gentle, making the atmosphere around her almost tranquil.
Tumblr media
↓ Her conflict with Neji was very one-sided, and despite his harsh treatments, she still used honorifics and respected him.
Tumblr media
↓ Yes, she might be a soft human being, but not to the point she is unable to pick out flaws in other people.
Tumblr media
She seems more warmed up in Shippuden than she was in Classic, and it’s fair to say that ever since Chunin exams, she had gained confidence with the help of Naruto’s cheering. Confidence in herself and her skills. (Panels above may help)
Something to keep in mind is that Neji was known to be more cold, arrogant, and stronger than Sasuke during this time, by Kakashi’s words.
↓ Yet Hinata did not back away even after being told to, multiple times I believe, even by Kiba himself.
Tumblr media
↓ This was the beginning of her journey of trying to be more assertive about herself, as she believes she could keep on going without chickening out.
Tumblr media
↓ And she didn't back away when someone from the Hyuga Clan told her to do so--she was persistent.
Tumblr media
Hinata was never meant to be somebody with great leadership skills; she has always been a follower, almost, who takes a lot of inspiration from people she looks up to. The obvious person, Naruto, and Neji were mentioned.
Tumblr media
#3 Goals & Dedications
Her goal had never been only to be a wife and a lover to Naruto. It was one of her goals, the hope to get Naruto to acknowledge her, which he did several times. But that was not it, there was more.
Hinata did not seem so close with her family, so she had no certain goals regarding the Hyuga Clan. She was almost avoiding them and was deemed to be a shinobi, which she probably preferred, participated, and found likeness to, rather than the next heir to the Hyuga Clan, simply because her father did not believe her feather-like personality was fit for it, nor did Hinata seem too interested to lead a clan with such twisted rules and laws.
Despite her father's harsh, degrading words (and Neji's), she did not let it effect her because she continued to get stronger later on.
Tumblr media
Hinata always wanted to be self-assured, and wanted to be as confident as Naruto always has been. She wanted to be of use, somehow. Refer to #2, second last image.
↓ Here, too, we see her admitting that she never believed in herself, until she did.
Tumblr media
"I stared liking myself a little more..." shows she had very little fondness for herself.
Hinata wanted to change herself for a very long time. She did not ever want to stay the way she used to be--scared.
Another admittance,
Tumblr media
But then...
Tumblr media
All of these images show that Hinata had something she was thriving for, something she was dedicated to achieve that was not just romance. So, props to Hinata (and Tenten, but that's another story) for actually having a goal/objective.
Tumblr media
#4 Skills & Strength
All powers Hinata has been shown to use/possess:
Byakugan (Kekkei Genkai)
Gentle Fist (Specific Taijutsu)
The Eight Trigrams (Air Palm, Palm Rotation, 64-Palms)
The Gentle Step; Twin Lion Fist
The Eight Trigram; Twin Lions Surging Shots (Utilizes Hagoromo's Chakra)
Hamura Otsutsuki's Chakra
And some others I might’ve missed
I'm not going to make this section breaking down each ability, but I'm going to use this information to factually prove that Hinata has more amounts of known and used abilities than probably all female characters, as well as like 90% of overall Naruto characters or something. And she's definitely stronger than a lot of characters, logically, despite her not having been in fights very often.
During younger years, Hinata Hyuga was put against Neji Hyuga—once again, claimed to be possibly stronger than Sasuke at that time—and Hinata was actually able to put up with Neji. For a bit, or a while, it doesn't matter. For a young, scared girl who has never been in a fight before to be able to do so speaks for her skills.
Tumblr media
Inexperienced against the nearly strongest genin, one filled with hatred, among her generation, Hinata exceeded enough.
↓ In Shippuden, we even get a scene where she protects Neji!
Tumblr media
There's a very few people Hinata actually canonically fought, but when she did, she did plenty well for being a side-side character.
↓...And that same side-side character, Hinata Hyuga, was the only kunoichi in the entire show to actually land a hit on Pain, during Pain Arc. The inevitable praise.
Tumblr media
Here comes the cries of, “but she was flung LOL” “hinata didn’t achieve shit from this” “he threw her like she was nothing”
Frankly, those are most ignorant things you can say regarding her actions. To stand up against an Akatsuki member? That takes a lot of balls, considering that nobody was standing up for Naruto, and practically gave up, giving into Pain’s near-victory.
The entire point was not even to defeat Pain—it was to defend Naruto. And in doing so, she stalled for a bit, preventing him from immediately killing Naruto. In that amount of time, the few who remained could’ve backed her up, they could’ve offered some sense of rescue, but because of twist of fate, and the expected, Hinata was unable to keep Pain off of Naruto. It brought her to near-death, triggering Naruto Uzumaki’s 9-Tail-Fox.
Hinata was the fiercest woman. She wasn’t stupid, she accepted she was weaker and couldn't win before she even got onto the battle field. But she tried.
Tumblr media
The scene was never about physical strength to begin with; it was her strong mindset and dedication. She was aware of the consequences and still stepped in, demonstrating her everlasting commitment for Naruto. This entirely proves that she not only had great self-development, she had the audacity to stand against the strongest Akatsuki member (excluding Obito), who killed a Legendary Sannin.
Tumblr media
#5 Incessant Love for Naruto Uzumaki
In the entirety of Naruto Anime existence (excluding Boruto), only one of its movies have been considered canon, that being Naruto: The Last.
While I hoped it would show us Naruto promoting to Hokage, all of it was focused on Hinata and Naruto's relationship, and we found out a lot through it. Like, a lot.
There are very few couple/characters in Naruto that actually have past together/some story and strong reasoning to start liking their love interest. Such characters being Kushina, Karin, Konan (the K's lol), and of course, Hinata.
There are filler episodes that go before The Last, but I wouldn't count them (even if they add on to the actual story), but in The Last, we figure out that Hinata and Naruto first met when he protected her from getting bullied due to her Byakugan, and he gets beaten up for it.
Tumblr media
"Never go back on my word" was one of Naruto's internal rules that he stuck by and it made up his entire personality, almost. Hinata really seemed to respect it and use it for herself.
She tend to turn his imperfections into motivations,
Tumblr media
Those feelings seem to get more bold in Shippuden and more confronting. So much so she did not hesitate to put her life on the line for the boy. Not "just because." Hinata gave a list of unavoidable reasonings, that we were able to point out, too.
Tumblr media
And vice-versa, she did make a difference in Naruto's life pre-marriage. She gave him courage, motivation, and a reason to keep going. Refer to the fourth image in this section, too.
Then, our closure, he finally realized that Hinata has been there for him since the beginning of the times (also in The Last).
Tumblr media
“…but…but…! Hinata is a stalker! She was always watching Naruto! She’s so creepy!”
Okay, but her canonically shown watching Naruto was like, twice in 700 episodes… ↓
Tumblr media
And...honestly...it's not really...that...deep...lol? Old Japanese humor. And don't act like girls nowadays don't stalk the shit out of the boy they like--let's get real here. Just get over it. It's an exaggerated cartoon.
People have different views when it comes to love. But one thing I heavily disagree with are weak or false reasonings to fall in love with somebody. You’ll screw yourself over. Seeing a guy walk through the door and finding him physically attractive should not be your reason to “fall in love” and keeping that reason forever; you’re falling in love with his body, not him. It could be the start of your interest. Taking your time to get to know what kind of individual they are, and then accepting their personality, and falling in love with that person is guaranteed success. Reasons are important.
And Hinata understood that well, unlike someone who didn’t (I’m throwing shade!)
Tumblr media
(A very quick addition and counter-argument I might get is that Hinata was the cause of Neji's death. I didn't want to put this into an entire section because it'll involve mentioning Neji's own character. But to be frank, Neji chose to protect Hinata and died that way. And I idiotically love Neji far more than Hinata. You don't need somebody's permission to protect them, nor did Neji do it just because he was the lower branch of the Hyuga Clan. Neji and Hinata’s relationship was beyond that. Way beyond. Reread the manga, or even rewatch the anime, and listen and figure out why he did what he did. It had nothing to do with Hinata being a higher rank than him, at least not entirely at all.)
__________________________________________
I was going to add another section titled, "Comparison", but because of image restrictions and as well as the thought that this blog is only about Hinata, I scratched it out.
I don't even praise Hinata. She isn't my favorite Naruto female, either. Personally, for me, she just existed as a character. But I'd be damned if I threw any dirt on her for any reason.
If anything, I believe Hinata Hyuga's character is underappreciated in the way she should be appreciated. She's not just some...loyal, attractive girl (hell, Kishimoto never canonically even drew her with tight/exposing clothing, they were always baggy. So, screw the anime studio.) She was a figure of a powerful woman, better written than any other female in Naruto, and a strong individual, with more story than several, several other characters.
So when I heard "Hinata Slander" was a real thing, truly, I was baffled. I'll admit my blog was quite messy despite my effort to keep it organized with main claims and obvious evidence, but there are still multiple more panels that back up everything I've mentioned that make up Hinata's character.
After all this, I really don't think there's anything that can be said against her in the context (and lie) of "she is a horrible character." And there aren't a lot of characters she can fairly be compared to, anyway. She's just awesome.
As a person, and a side-side anime character, Hinata Hyuga undeniably exceeded.
"Hinata Slander" is fake. Find something better to do than embarrassing yourself.

reborn au: sometimes tori should be allowed to win. as a little treat
iwa fails team 4, which is just funny. i was debating minato just promoting itachi bc he'd have the missions for it, but actually i think it'd be funnier if he went and took a formal exam in a way that somehow pre-empts deidara from doing it? idk how that could work, but i think it would be Fun if both deidara and itachi won the tournament in their exams, and for that they'd have to take them separately
(it might make more sense logistically if itachi was like "why do i care? i'm an ANBU captain. i already have the paycheck/security clearances" and then deidara solos the next exam and itachi is like ".....wait i can't let him win" and solos the NEXT one. but also i think the laws of the universe are such that itachi should advance first, because it would piss deidara off)
anyway the point is. tori applies for R&D immediately and spends all her free time slinking around & then complaining she's not allowed to do her own projects
minato after she's tried some insane manipulations to take over R&D: (squints at her) yeah, because you're a genin. just apply to be a chunin?
it has not once occurred to tori she could be promoted the regular way. she's used to just like.... infecting a space, like a fungus. and then people get used to her enough that she gets to do what she wants.
tori: what is rank to a fungus?
deidara: what the fuck are you talking about? just take the exam. you'll get a raise and then we can afford a nice ass apartment together
anyway tori signs up for the next chunin exam feeling extraordinarily like she's doing some sort of weird undercover mission. she's not a ninja in her mind, she just plays one on tv. then kushina is like "ohohoho so are you going to keep up the team reputation and win the tournament???" and tori is like ".....no?" but both deidara AND itachi make the same joke
tori: i think you're really overestimating me 8|
it's not that tori doesn't think she can't take on any task they might throw at a chunin, or that she won't pass. akatsuki had her doing missions as a civilian, okay, she can handle chaos and responsibility and the associated danger. she just never, ever picks "fight" as her first solution to a problem... and the chunin exam tournament is just a fight. there's no changing parameters or redefining your win condition to force the outcome in your favor. it's just.... a fight. which she's iffy at
kushina: oh, i get your problem. your baseline is whack
tori: no no, i'm pretty sure there's lots of thirteen year olds that could beat me up
kushina: do you know what makes a ninja good-- like, actually good? it's not being the strongest. it's being able to go up against someone who's stronger than you and winning anyway. and a lot of people won't ever be able to do that, but you definitely could
so tori goes and takes her exam and it turns out the average thirteen year old sucks!!! she wins easy!!!
tori: what the FUCK
then she goes home and is like "i won? i don't get it??" and two weeks later she's a special jounin* because minato wants her to have the associated permissions
minato: go on, go do fuinjutsu reearch to your heart's content
tori: ;^; i am going to make the MOST forbidden technique
minato: please don't
*special jounin in my mind is for people who have a specialized jounin-level skill but don't qualify for a full jounin promotion, because those people need increased security clearances and shit compared to a standard chunin. it's not EXACTLY a rank between chunin and jounin because there's a lot of variation in abilities within in it... like at this point tori would basically be an average chunin in terms of combat but also capable of making up s-rank techniques on the fly

Kisame’s Daily Texts from the Akatsuki
From Deidara
Me and Tobi found a big muddy hole full of earthworms, let’s go fishing! 😁
We finished it last night, sorry
I was just teasing him!
Exploding or boring?
Not a tea person but thanks anyway
LMAOOO he probably pissed himself 🤣
Pls tell Itachi I’m not gonna hurt her I just want to pet her for a while!
Leader said he’ll kill us if we do it again so no probably not 😓
You gotta use the conditioner too or else it won’t be effective
I’ll ask him but he don’t really like places like that. Says they’re too happy 🙄
From Hidan
If you have two does that mean one sleeps while the other fucks or ?
No offense but it’s literally so boring I can’t sit still that long
I would say he’s giving you blue balls but.
Can’t imagine giving a shit but 🤷‍♂️
Tried that once. Got the mask halfway off and suddenly felt like I was drowning. Never again.
Old bastard said no 😑
You need to watch him he takes like two bites and pushes the plate away
How? Half of us are gay half are insane and some are both 🤣
One dick, two dicks, your dicks, BLUE dicks! Lol get it??
From Sasori
Thanks but water erodes my “skin”.
I’m done reading it, you can borrow if you like.
Please make sure he puts on sunscreen he’s too stubborn to listen to me.
Don’t really remember all that well but I believe it was ice cream.
He has to *want* treatment and so far he’s turned down every offer Kakuzu or myself has made.
They make for more appealing puppets if they have some unique physical characteristic while they’re still living.
I’ll probably marry him some day but first he has to work on not blowing himself to bits.
Oh of course. You know you don’t need to ask.
From Kakuzu
Hey I almost beat you and I’m 60+ years your senior.
Just this once … no charge. Worth it to see him freak out like that.
I’m not very well-versed in animal anatomy but I can take a look and try my best.
EVERYBODY pays. Itachi too.
Fits nice. My thanks.
This place is falling apart, if it’s not one thing it’s another.
It’s annoying but I don’t see any serious long-term effects.
From Konan
That’s so sweet, thank you ☺️
Write down the exact kind for me, I’ll pick it up the next time I go to the market.
He’s a sweetheart isn’t he? 🥰
I’ll take your word for it, but ducks are so cute I don’t think I could eat one.
Come to my room I have some eye drops that’ll help him.
If I let that happen no work would ever be done and they’d likely kill each other.
So many miles, with these heels it’s hard on my feet.
If you want it that rare then there’s really no point to me cooking it at all 😒
At this point the yelling has become background music.
Me on one shoulder and Itachi on the other. You big show-off 😁
From Tobi/Obito
You only beat me because Deidara distracted me!
Forty cookies isn’t even that many. Plus Itachi ate two more.
Kakuzu said to earn the money myself so I stole one of his bounties 🤷🏻‍♂️
Itches. A LOT.
Can’t stand tea but if you have any hot chocolate, yeah.
You should hang out with Zetsu more often then. Like one never-ending picnic.
He really wants to go but I don’t have a pole. You have a spare?
Yeah but he might let us get a fish-tank if YOU said you needed it, like for health or something
Sushi? Isn’t that cannibalism?!
Fuck him AND his perfect ass. Literally and figuratively.
Don’t give me that “kid” shit, we’re like the same age!
From Zetsu
You want to split that guy’s leg with me? He was very fat, lots of good meat 😋
He’s a good man but doesn’t his dubious emotional state concern you?
It’s a lot like hearing two voices at once. Constantly.
It’s no fun if they don’t scream a bit first. You know this.
I did the scouting; that lake about five miles up the road is both deep and fairly clean.
Let’s hide under his bed and scare him. I bet money we can get him to soil himself while crying for that damn Jashin 🤣
From Nagato
I thank you for the tea. It helped me to sleep.
Well, keep an eye on him.
The pain is worse when I stand but Sasori is working on prosthetics for me that may solve the problem.
As long as you return in time for your next mission.
Get that looked at as soon as possible. We can’t afford to have you out of commission.
I do, but she deserves so much better than myself.
I’ll speak to Kakuzu about getting you a new one.
If you two are going to do that, please keep it away from our hideouts. It disturbs Konan to hear the screaming.
From Itachi
I ate this morning. Promise.
That wasn’t Hidan’s fault, I’d forgotten to take my pill so my reflexes were slow.
Just consider it. Uchiha Kisame. Say it out loud. It’s beautiful 😌
Can you check if I left that shirt in your room?
Dei and I went there last night. The manager banned us for life because Dei set off a C3 in the men’s room. 😑
Fine. You buy the skirt I’ll “model” it for you.
Sad. Come stay with me please.
You worry too much.
That picture is for YOUR EYES ONLY.
Aww what do you mean? Kitty loves you she’s not trying to eat you!
It’s one that Konan gave me. It’s really good you’d probably like it too.
Tea?
I didn’t *fall* in, he *pushed* me. Big difference.
Mom taught me when I was younger. I can teach you too if you want.
You’re mine too. Always ❤️

Gourmand Fragrance / Wagashi Revolution - 2
(Unproofread)

Tumblr media
[The next day]
Keito: —Seriously, this is completely incorrigible. Can’t anything be done about how ambiguous the term ‘medium heat’ is?
Keito: What does ‘heat the water to around 50 degrees’ mean, exactly? They ought to clearly state what temperature to use!
Keito: There are vague instructions like “Pay attention to the room temperature as well!” here too...
Keito: … No, there’s no use in complaining about this. Anyways, how should I deal with the situation at hand?
Keito: If I ask for Kanzaki’s help, I’d be able to get it done in one go, but I’d like to keep it a secret from him this time…
Nazuna: Rei-chin, why don’t we take a break and get something to drink… Huh? Keito-chin?
Rei: How rare. I never thought I’d see Hasumi-kun cooking.
Nazuna: That sweet smell… Are you making chocolate?
Nazuna: Keito-chin, did you start trying to make chocolate immediately?
Nazuna: Would it be okay for me to eat some? I just got off of work and I feel like having something sugary~
Nazuna: Oh, but only if you have any leftovers, obviously! You might have wanted to give it to someone else.
Keito: No it’s- Um, That is… It’s not an issue. In fact, it would probably be best for you to have some.
Nazuna: Thanks, Keito-chin! In that case, don’t mind if I do…
Nazuna: Thank you for the food~♪
Tumblr media
Nazuna: ~~~~~~Gh!?
Nazuna: Gyah!? This is unbeweivabwy hawd, Keito-chin!
Keito: … Sorry, Nito. I had been considering the possibility that maybe I just had a weak jaw, but it seems that I had simply failed.
Nazuna: You should’ve told me! I bit into it as hard as I could because I had no idea!
Nazuna: Uu, my tooth hurts… Rei-chin, are my teeth okay? None of them broke, right?
Rei: Worry not, Nito-kun. Your teeth remain aligned and in perfect condition.
Rei: My my, Hasumi-kun. It seems like you’ve created a rather deadly weapon.
Rei: Or perhaps it was meant to be a prank, replacing actual chocolate with fake chocolate.
Rei: In that case, should I have played along?
Keito: Hey, quit making fun of me. It was my bad, okay?
Keito: Guh, I knew I shouldn’t have tried making sweets without Kiryu.
Nazuna: Come to think of it, why isn’t Kuro-chin here with you, Keito-chin?
Keito: Kiryu has work scheduled for the entire day today. Since I had a bit of free time on my hands, I figured I would start practicing on my own.
Keito: However, I never expected that accomplishing my first goal, learning how to temper chocolate by heating and cooling it, would be so troublesome…
Rei: Hm. Hasumi-kun, you mentioned just now that this was your ‘first goal’. Does this mean you’re aiming for something else?
Keito: Yes. Nito is already aware, but what Kanzaki said yesterday is stuck in my head now.
Nazuna: Hm? What Souma-chin said— Do you mean the wagashi thing?
Keito: Exactly. After that, Kiryu and I had a discussion, and we came up with the idea of making wagashi that would be the star of Valentines to give to Kanzaki.
Keito: Kanzaki is always working so hard for AKATSUKI’s sake, and we wanted to express our gratitude to him…
Keito: Most of all, that disappointed expression he had on his face yesterday just won’t leave my mind.
Nazuna: I see. So I guess Keito-chin felt the same as me all along.
Nazuna: Actually, ever since I saw Mitsuru-chin’s sad face, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about if there’s anything I can do.
Nazuna: It’s so frustrating when there’s nothing I can do to help my cute juniors when they’re counting on me.
Keito: Yes. Kanzaki truly believed that I would be able to solve the issue and came to me as well.
Keito: So I feel like I should have been able to find some way to fulfill those expectations.
Keito: To do nothing for lack of a perfect plan, or to say that someone else might be better suited, excuses like those are no different from running away.
Rei: Fufu. You two have such lofty ambitions. It sure does pique my interest. ♪
Nazuna: Yeah, I totally get it, Keito-chin. It’s uncool to just do nothing!
Rei: However, if you’re struggling this hard to simply temper chocolate, how do you expect to create wagashi impressive enough to cause a sensation?
Keito: Urgh, you hit a bit of a sore spot there…
Nazuna: He’s right though.
Keito: Okay. So why aren’t wagashi popular for Valentines? There has to be a cause.
Nazuna: Putting aside technical concerns for now, what sort of wagashi can we make that would get people talking?
Rei: Since it’s Valentines season, how about doing some research on the kinds of sweets that people prefer?
Rei: Earlier, when I was walking around ES with Nito-kun, I saw quite a few Valentines Day Fairs going on.
Nazuna: Isn’t that great? Cinnamon was also advertising a limited-time menu.
Rei: So what do you say, Hasumi-kun?
Keito: Hmph. It’s irritating to be sweet-talked into something by Sakuma, but he has a point.
Keito: It’s a good idea. I’ll take your advice this time. You have my thanks, Sakuma.
Tumblr media
Keito: Now that that’s settled, I’ll begin researching right away.

GILBERT VON OBSIDIAN EVENT STORY....
Tumblr media
CHAPTER TWO.
The True Love of Beauty and the Beast.
translations are not 100% accurate. expect mistakes.
spoilers from gilbert's route.
minors and ageless blogs dni.
In the afternoon of the same day, Lord Gilbert suddenly fired a bomb.
The one who visited Obsidian Castle was a book merchant, he regularly came to sell books to the royal family——
It was Mr. Akatsuki, the owner of the bookstore where I used to work.
Gilbert: ——So, Father. She and I are officially getting married.
Akatsuki:…….
Akatsuki:………….
Akatsuki:…….I’ll kill you.
Emma: Owner!?
The owner, who hails from Kougyoku(Ruby), still dressed in flashy clothes, and he is relentless in his attempts to draw the katana from his waist.
Tumblr media
It was both reassuring and heartbreaking to see him stand his ground without regard to the royalty of a great nation.
Gilbert: Ahaha, Papa is so stubborn. Your daughter has to leave the nest someday, you know?
Akatsuki: Someday, but not now.
Gilbert: That's not for papa to decide, is it?
Akatsuki: A word of advice from an elder. What are you in such a hurry for?
(….Hurry…..?)
The owner finally came to his senses,
He withdrew his katana, sat back in his chair, and reached for the tea I had prepared.
The situation had settled down for the time being, and I sat down next to Lord Gilbert with my chest heaving with relief.
Akatsuki: I understand Emma’s position. It is truly regrettable, but externally she is already a member of the Obsidian royal family.
Akatsuki: No wonder there's talk of marriage.
Gilbert: If you understand so much, why can't we get married?
Akatsuki: I'm saying it's too early. You guys don't know each other very well yet.
(Ah…that’s it.)
(I'm sure I had that stuck in my mind.)
Marriage is supposed to be a process of getting to know each other deeply,
The time that Lord Gilbert and I spent together was at least shorter than the owner.
(I may be your lover, but I don't know everything about Lord Gilbert.)
(So I'm not sure if it's really a good idea to get officially married in that state.)
Tumblr media
Gilbert: It's not too late to get to know each other after marriage, is it?
Gilbert: If we’re going to get married anyway, whether it's now or in a few years, the result won't change, right?
Gilbert: When we get married, I want you to call me "Gil" as soon as possible.
(….Lord Gilbert seems to think differently than I do.)
Akatsuki: If you go through formalities, Emma will have nowhere to go before she knows you.
Akatsuki: That may be what you're after, but I won't allow it.
Akatsuki: Marriage is only possible if you know Emma better than I do.
Gilbert: No way, you know a lot about the little rabbit, don't you?
Gilbert: Then you should know. What is Emma thinking now?
The owner and Lord Gilbert's gazes turned toward me at the same time.
I have never had a chance to intervene, but now I finally have an opportunity.
(I’m so sorry, Lord Gilbert.)
Emma: I’m with the owner on this.
Emma: Even if we were to get married someday, I'm not sure I can consider Lord Gilbert a family just yet.
Gilbert:….Hmm? So that’s the extent of the little rabbit’s love.
Emma: I'm careful because I love you.
Emma: I don't want to be dishonest with you, Lord Gilbert.
(Even more so because I know the thoughts and feelings that Lord Gilbert has for me..…)
Gilbert: Dishonest…..?
(……)
Lord Gilbert's red eye narrowed as he stood up from his seat——
He came up behind me, put his hands on my shoulders, and looked into my face.
Tumblr media
Gilbert: I care about you more than my family.
Gilbert: Because you didn't kill me, did you? No matter what you do, I won't kill you.
Cold fingers crawl down my throat and my body stiffens involuntarily.
Gilbert: Hey, we’re family, right?
Emma:…….
(I guess family is about not killing.)
(…No, it's usually a matter of course, but for Lord Gilbert, refusing to kill has a special meaning.)
Despite being a member of the Obsidian royal family, to Lord Gilbert, the word "don't kill" means the same thing as "I love you".
(But that's not really the definition of family….)
Gilbert: Or are we not? // It’s not?
As if seeing through my heart, Lord Gilbert smiles.
Emma:.....I can't quite put it into words, but...
Akatsuki: Give up on marriage, Gilbert. If you're going to force her, then——
The owner, sitting across from us, puts his hand on the katana again.
Gilbert: Haha, scary.
While claiming he was scared, Lord Gilbert chuckles and presses his lips against my forehead.
Emma: Lord Gilbert…I’d also like to wear that wedding dress someday.
Emma: But we have a lot of time ahead of us, so there's no need to rush, okay?
Tumblr media
Gilbert: A lot, you say….
(What's with that face?)
Lord Gilbert smiles with his eye downcast and then, he moves away.
It was just a momentary flicker of a trivial facial expression, but my heart was beating wildly.
(…I feel like I shouldn't pretend not to notice his face now.)
Gilbert: It can’t be helped. I’ll do more bad things to motivate the little rabbit.
Akatsuki:….Thinking that if you do something poorly, you will lose your life.
(I guess the owner is right, I don't know everything about Lord Gilbert.)
(……)
(….Ever since yesterday, I can’t stop having that bad feeling.)
(I was trying not to pry too deeply into what Lord Gilbert was doing——)
Tumblr media
Walter: Lady Emma? Did you get hurt somewhere!?
Tumblr media
That evening, I stepped into the doctor's infirmary under the watchful eye of Lord Gilbert,
Mr. Walter, the court physician, welcomed me with a flustered face.
Walter: If anything happens to you, all the soldiers who work at the Obsidian castle will be sent to the gallows.
Emma: Don't worry, my body is in perfect health!
Walter: Ah, I’m glad….I’m really glad.
(I can't help but laugh at the fact that it's an exaggeration….) // (I can't laugh it off as an exaggeration….)
Walter: Then, did something happen to Lord Gilbert?
(Yesterday, when I looked around for Lord Gilbert, I didn't see Mr. Walter either.)
He is Lord Gilbert's personal doctor. Either he's not there or——
Emma: I was wondering if you knew why Lord Gilbert disappeared yesterday…..
Walter:……
Mr. Walter, who had been talkative until then, suddenly shut his mouth.
Emma: As expected, you do know.
Walter:….Doctors don't divulge information about their patients unless there is an extreme reason.
Emma: I already know. Mr. Walter's reaction is all I need.
(If only his personal doctor knew about it, then it means he must have been ill and was recuperating somewhere.)
(….Lord Gilbert still doesn't show me any signs of weakness.)
(No, it's not just me, it's the same for Mr. Walter, who is close to me as well….)
I don't want to condemn it, nor do I want it to stop, but I just feel empty.
(I think the act of weakness on the part of Obsidian's royal family is directly related to death.)
(In this country where corruption and deceit were rampant not so long ago, killing each other is a daily occurrence….)
(No matter how close we get, it can be scary to show our vulnerability.) // (No matter how close you get, it can be scary to show your vulnerability.)
Of course, that is not the only reason, but perhaps it is also out of concern for me.
But if this keeps happening, one day Lord Gilbert will really disappear like a bubble,
It is possible that he will never return to the castle without knowing the cause.
(Really, you don't get married under these circumstances.)
(I'm just a person that Lord Gilbert can't trust yet.) // (To Lord Gilbert, I'm not yet trustworthy.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I thanked Mr. Walter and left the infirmary.
(What should I do after this? Go to Lord Gilbert, or just go back to my room...)
I was so preoccupied with my thoughts that I could not react immediately when someone suddenly covered my mouth from behind.
Emma: Hmpf—!?
(What!?)

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thankfully at the end of the day, you both managed to cast your works aside and have the rest of the year for yourselves, and what better what to spend Christmas together than participating in Rhylin's Christmas party?
Truth to be told, he didn't want to go to this party—he had another plan in mind and that is to just spend time with you alone but one after the other, he was persuaded to come. Alas, you too were fallen victim to it.
You both were standing somewhere in a less secluded area, looking around at how lively people are at this event.
"I can't believe I'd let Kanzaki persuade me into coming." He sighed, shaking his head in regret
"You aren't exactly the only one here, that's for sure." You replied, chuckling lightly. "Y'know, when the high schoolers said they wanted me to come, I couldn't bring myself not to."
"You're too soft on them, [Name]." He said truthfully.
"Weren't you also persuaded? You sound like a hypocrite right now." You chuckled, watching his cheeks taint with pink hues out of embarrassment.
Nonetheless, your attention were brought back to the sea of people in front of you once again. Some were merely acquaintances of yours, some where friends you cherish deeply, but you could see clearly just how happy they are on this day.
You didn't say anything to him, yet Keito knows you were thinking of something. Before he could ask, you grabbed his hands within yours, a smile soon appearing on your face.
"Do you... Wanna grab a drink together? Or something to eat?" You ask, smiling at him.
He was left confused for a moment before smiling slightly. He really cannot know what your next course of action is, can he?
"Sure, I'm quite hungry myself." He agreed, alas letting himself being dragged by you to the food section.
Before you two could arrive there, you were greeted by ra*bits who in turn each gave you two a christmas present of their own.
Neither of you had any idea on why they'd do so. Very much speechless, you two could only thank them for their sudden gifts as you greeted each other merry christmas.
Well, that was certainly weird. Thank goodness the box isn't too big for any of you, and you're both sure that the christmas exchanging is starting later and not now. Perhaps you two should just place it somewhere first?
Then all of the sudden the rest of UNDEAD came and each greeted you in their own ways; they also gave you presents. Keito was in fact flustered at this point and declined their gifts, but they were weirdly persistent on giving him theirs. Alas, more gifts was gifted to him, to you.
"Is this some sort of trap...? Why're they gifting us so many gifts all of the sudden?" Keito soon voices out his concern, sweat-dropping at the piles of present he has to hold in his hands, all decorated in their own little ways.
"Yo, danna." Suddenly a voice spoke, thus Kuro appeared with two present in hand along with Souma too.
"K-Kiryu? What is the meaning of this?"
"What do you mean? We just wanted to say thanks to you two fer workin' and still bein' with us until today. No ulterior motives here."
"Kiryu-dono is correct! We, from Rhylink want to properly thank you two for working with us so much this year!" Souma agreed to Kuro's statement, smiling happily at you two.
"So I hope you two will gladly accept these gifts I have prepared!" He bows down slightly, holding both gifts in his hand. One for you and one for Keito.
"Thank you... I guess...?" Keito said, still unsure on what to say, yet he still took it and placed it on top of the piles of presents he has in his hands.
You also took yours, smiling happily at him while muttering a little "thank you" for his kind gesture.
"Here's my gift for you two then ♪" Kuro said, placing it on yours and Keito's presents, smiling happily.
"Well, that's all we have for you two. See ya later." Kuro said, then soon left in a hurry it rather seems like whilst Souma soon followed. He waved back to you before completely leaving.
"They're... Acting weird." You chuckled slightly, looking down at the boxes of gifts you have now.
Keito could only sigh loudly in response, putting some on the ground. "I deeply apologize for them, I in fact also have no idea on what they're trying to do." He apologized.
"Do you need help with carrying the gifts? I can help you if you'd like." He offered to help, but you quickly decline his generous offer.
"Ah, no. I'm fine." You said, your eyes soon looking up to the ceiling. Keito raised an eyebrow, seeing that you had just widen yur eyes in surprise before he also does the same.
There totally was an ulterior motive here; you're both are seriously under the mistletoe whilst everyone was watching.
He blushed, red hues tainting his cheeks in embarrassment at the realization of what this means. They totally set him up for this! How much of a fool he was for not seeing that mistletoe sooner, he should've realized something was up when UNDEAD suddenly gave him presents!
He looked to you, and you were starting to giggle while batting your eye at him like some sort of highschool girl seeing her crush in the hallway.
"Hey, Keito-kun. Do you like me?" You ask, giving him the puppy dog eyes as if you two aren't already dating.
"Don't look at me like that." Keito said, glancing away from you, his face flushed red.
"But do you wanna kiss?" You ask, not dropping that puppy dog eyes you're giving him. He hates how you're clearly teasing him right now especially in front of others.
He clears his throat, trying to find the correct words to say to you, yet he was unable to. From the first word he spoke, you already were pulling him in for a kiss.
The kiss didn't last long, thankfully, but he was sure people will tease him for a very long time for this moment.
You smiled at him innocently, trying to act as if you didn't do anything wrong. "Merry Christmas, sweetheart."
He can't really stay mad at you for long, can he? A fit of chuckle stifled out of him as he looks at you with a genuine smile on his face.
"Yes... Whatever. Merry Christmas to you too, darling."

Dokuhime
Kakuzu x Fem!OC This is my first time posting any of my fics on Tumblr so I don't know how to format any of this fhdjajfds Will probably be NSFW in future chapters but not in this one
"You want me to work with a dokuhime?" Kakuzu spits, the seething in his voice barely bothering to be concealed. Pain sighs, having seen this coming. He closes his eyes, causing the gray rings on his staticky outline to blink out of existence.
"I do. Her skill set is incredibly important for us at this time. None of our members can execute stealth assassinations as—"
"You must be aware of how high the bounties are for her kind," Kakuzu cuts in. Hidan raises an eyebrow at his partner's adamance about the situation. The old asshole was never this pissy at Pain.
"I am very aware, Kakuzu. This is why it is of the utmost importance to keep her on retainer. Our work on pursuing the jinchuuriki has begun to damage connections we need to keep alive as long as possible, and keeping the Akatsuki name out of the assassinations is key in maintaining them for now." Pain opens his eyes again, glaring deeply into Kakuzu's red and green. "When we have no further need of her services, feel free to go after her bounty. But for now, the mission comes first."
Kakuzu grits his back teeth, the grinding just audible over the transmission jutsu, and his eyes glitter with rage. "500 million ryo," he hisses. "Double that if she's alive."
Pain doesn't flinch. "You are forbidden from touching her for the foreseeable future. Perhaps you can utilize her services for your bounty collection on the side. I'm sure plenty of your targets would fall for her methods."
That was a fair point. Kakuzu scoffs, and then crosses his arms. "... The second we have no further use for her, I'm taking her in."
"Fine."
Hidan whistles, long and low. "That was fuckin' tense. What the fuck is a dokuhime, anyway?"
--
Erika takes her spare mug out of her travelling pack as the waitress of the tea shop sets down her sencha, and she carefully transfers the hot drink from one to the other.
"Thank you," she says quietly, and the waitress gives her an odd look, but decides against asking. That suited Erika just fine— she could let people believe she was just a strange germaphobe. It was safer that way. If the tea shop didn't properly sanitize their mugs, the next person to drink from hers could accidentally die a rather horrible death.
Erika was due to meet with the Akatsuki members she'd been paired with any moment. Grande Mother had instructed that this would be her final assignment for a good long while— she'd be working with this group of mercenaries for the time being. It was unusual that she was being forced to work alongside anyone, however, Grande Mother had assured her these were unusual circumstances.
She pulls the porcelain mask on her face above her lips to drink, and then pauses as she hears the shutter doors to the shop open, and then close again, followed by the raucous sound of a one sided argument.
"But I want some fucking tea!"
"We're not here for tea, we're here to pick up our partner."
"It's a tea shop!"
"I'm not buying you tea."
Already, Erika wanted to gouge her ears out. Fucking insufferable. She should just kill them and leave. She takes a long, long pull of the tea and hopes in vain the pair of men wouldn't see her.
"Oh, is that her?"
No such luck. She was the only other one here. She moves her mask back into place so she could see out of the eye slits as the shuffling moves in front of her, and a silver-haired man plops down in the chair across her.
"You're, uh, Yurika, right?"
"Erika," she murmurs. A shadow darkens her left side, and she glances up at it— a tall man in a hood and mask, wearing a matching cloak to the idiot reclining before her. Red clouds, black fabric. That was them, alright.
"We need to leave," the hooded man says. Erika pushes her mask back up her face, taking another long sip in lieu of saying anything. But the statement is clear: 'I'm not leaving until I'm done with my tea.'
Hidan tilts his head and squints, eyeing the bottom of Erika's face curiously. Her skin was dark— as dark as they tended to be in Kumogakure— and her lips were full, and painted red. She also had a mole on the left side of her chin. He'd heard she was supposed to be pretty. All dokuhime were, according to Kakuzu. Helped with the whole 'seduction and murder' thing.
Kakuzu grits his jaw again, closing his eyes. Already, this woman was more of a headache than he had patience for. The temptation to just kill her and bring her in was mounting steadily, the longer she sat silently and nursed that damn mug.
"... And your names are?" Erika finally asks, her voice deep and a bit gravelly.
Hidan barks a laugh— he liked anyone who could piss Kakuzu off as much as she clearly did, the way his fists were all balled up. "I'm Hidan, that's Kakuzu."
"A pleasure, I'm sure," she drawls, before tilting the mug back and letting the rest of the hot liquid slip down her throat. She carefully sets the mug down and readjusts her mask before taking a small packet out of her travelling pack and ripping it open, producing a small towelette. Kakuzu watches as she purposefully went around the rim of the cup with it, wiping off any lipstick, before stowing the mug and used wipe back into the bag.
He'd kill her. He'd kill her.
She finally stands, setting down a few bills and coins to pay for her refreshment.
"Now we can leave," she says, pulling her own black cape around her.
As she heads towards the door, Hidan grins up at Kakuzu, who has to hold back everything he has not to crush his stupid, smug face in.
"Not one word," Kakuzu growls, following after Erika. Hidan simply shrugs and goes to stand walk closer to their new companion.
"So. Uhh, dokumushi, right?" He asks. Erika sighs quietly.
"Dokuhime."
"Right, whatever." Hidan crosses his arms. "Kakuzu told me that you're poisonous."
"That's right," she murmurs. "So don't get too close."
"I don't think that should be an issue," Hidan laughs. "Lord Jashin has blessed me with an indestructible body."
"... How's that?" She tilts her head a bit. Grande Mother had told her the men she was working with would be a bit strange, but she hadn't expected 'psychotic religious idiot' levels of strange.
"It means I'm immortal," he grins. "Even Kakuzu can't fuckin' kill me, even though he reaaallly wants to."
Kakuzu just gives a quiet grunt.
"... Immortal," Erika repeats.
"Yup."
"Uh-huh." The doubt drips off her tone.
"Go ahead! Try and kill me!" Hidan opens his arms wide with a grin.
"I'll pass."
"Fine, then, you fucking heathen," Hidan scoffs. "You'll see during my next ritual."
Kakuzu ignores their chatting for the most part— he was just glad Hidan wasn't bothering him.
"So, if you're immortal, what's his deal?" Erika asks, nodding towards where Kakuzu was trailing a few steps behind them.
"He's immortal too, kind of," Hidan waves his hand dismissively. "He steals hearts or some shit."
"Hidan, shut your mouth," Kakuzu warns. Even if they were working with the dokuhime, she didn't need to know about his jutsu until it was absolutely necessary.
"Heart stealer?" Erika snorts a bit. "He doesn't seem charming enough for that."
Hidan blinks, and then bursts into laughter.
"She's got your fucking number, you bastard," he crows. Kakuzu just grits his teeth and ignores them and his blood pressure rising.
Erika, so far, wasn't impressed with her new partners. One claimed they were both immortal and asked her to kill him, and the other one just seemed like a pushy asshole. But if Hidan continued to talk, she was sure she'd end up preferring the pushy asshole.
And he did. Hidan's mouth always seemed to be running. He talked about whatever seemed to come into his mind at the moment— usually complaints. Erika herself was quiet, but indulged him from time to time whenever he spoke to her directly.
"So, what's your face look like?" Hidan asks as the sun begins to droop towards the horizon.
"My face?" Erika quirks an unseen eyebrow.
"Yeah. Kakuzu told me all dokuhime are supposed to be pretty." Kakuzu cringes internally— he didn't need to fluff up this girl's ego bigger than it clearly already was.
"Ahh. And you want to see if I fit the bill," Erika snorts.
"Fucking obviously." Hidan rolls his eyes. "Come on, take it off!"
Erika weighs the pros and cons. She truly didn't care if Hidan thought she was pretty or not— it was no consequence to her, as he wasn't her target. However, if he did find her attractive, she wasn't sure if he'd be annoying about it or not. Then again, if she was going to be staying with them for the foreseeable future, he'd end up seeing her face anyway.
"... Alright," she sighs, reaching up to pull back her hood, and then the snood underneath it. Silky ebony curls come spilling out, cascading around her shoulders and pooling into her hood. And then she pulls off her mask.
The full, shapely red lips and sexy mole were apparently complimented by a pair of hooded, glossy, smoky violet eyes framed with long ebony lashes and strong arching brows. Her cheekbones were high, but round, giving her face a slightly cherubic look, and her naturally disinterested expression only served to make her look even more enticing.
Kakuzu had been right— this was a face custom bred to snag unsuspecting men and lure them to their doom.
Hidan whistles long and low, raising his brows. "Look at that! You are pretty. You'd make an excellent sacrifice for Lord Jashin."
"I'll take that as a compliment," Erika scoffs again.
"Of course it was a compliment!"
Kakuzu, a few steps ahead of them, spares a glance over his shoulder— he couldn't deny he'd also been a touch curious. He would deny it to anyone who even breathed the suggestion, but not to himself. Unfortunately for him, though, Erika catches his eye, and offers nothing but a subtle smirk before she returned her attention to Hidan. Rage boils in his stomach for what must have been the seventh time that day; she had indeed, as Hidan had put it, got his number.
--
As night finally falls, the three find their way out of the woods and into a town— and in the heart, a glittering, thrumming night market, bustling with shoppers, music, and drunks singing and arguing and adding to the ambiance. Erika scans the booths through the slits in her mask as Kakuzu starts looking for the cheapest possible inn he could book them for the night. Hidan, as usual, was running his mouth.
"Look at all these fucking idiots. Not a single pious soul in sight. None of these people would make anything close to a suitable sacrifice for Lord Jashin. Kakuzuuuu, are we really going to be staying here for the night?" He scowls at his partner's back, and the older man suppresses a withering sigh.
"It's one night, Hidan. You can go one night without one of your insufferable rituals," he snipes back. Hidan rolls his eyes, and opens his mouth to start again, but stops. This catches Kakuzu's attention— Hidan never stopped talking.
His eyes scan over to where Hidan was looking— Erika was standing in front of a booth of weapons, arms crossed over her chest, hip popped to one side, clearly appraising the offerings.
Women, he thinks scathingly, and moves over behind her.
"I'm not spending any money here, so don't get any ideas," he hisses. Erika doesn't even acknowledge him, instead picking up a katana that noticeably was without a scabbard.
She swings it with a flourish, forcing Kakuzu to take a step back— and catching the stallkeeper's eye.
"You've got good taste, miss," he says, coming over and rubbing his hands together. "And clearly you've got skill with a blade."
"This is from Iwa, isn't it?" She asks, turning over the hilt and running a finger along the imprinted insignia on the blade. "Jewel steel, low carbon. Shin-shinto, too, this is quite a find."
The man's smile turns sickly sweet, and he nods happily. "You know your blades, clearly!"
"I do, thank you. What's your name?"
"Satoru, miss."
"Satoru. How much is this?"
Kakuzu watches this with interest, now— he knew Iwa swords were considered some of the best blades money could buy. And she just happened to stumble across one on the street? One without a scabbard, no less... but the blade edge was nicked all along the surface. The thing couldn't be worth more than—
"I'm willing to let that one go for 650,000 ryo," the stallkeep coos. Kakuzu's eyebrows twitch, and he has to restrain himself from reaching across the table to choke the sleezeball out. Just as he's about to take the sword from Erika's hands and return it to the stallkeeper, he hears her laugh.
"Don't bullshit me, Satoru, darling. This thing isn't worth anything more than 100k, and you're going to give it to me for 50."
This time both Kakuzu and the stallkeeper look gobsmacked, before the man stammers and blusters in rage.
"50,000?! You must be mad. You yourself said this is—"
"I was lying," Erika sighs, running a gloved finger along the blade edge. "This thing isn't low-carbon, it's high-carbon. A low-carbon blade wouldn't have nearly this many nicks. And it's barely Shinto at best, I can't imagine it having been made past the warring Era."
The stallkeep sputters a bit, losing his steam.
"I-I swear it's Shin-shinto! I have it under good authority—"
"Your authority doesn't know what they're talking about, Satoru. They couldn't tell a high-carbon from a low-carbon, and that's just sad for a weapons vendor. Unless you were going to sit here and take me for a sap." She sets the sword back on its stand. "50k."
"I can't go that low, miss!"
"You can, and you will, if you want this thing off your table anytime soon." Her eyes shift up to his, blazing purple in the darkness of her eye slits. "It doesn't have a scabbard, it's rusting along the tsuba, and the ito needs to be re-wrapped. And judging from the dust on the sword stand, this is the first time anyone's picked it up in a while. Really, Satoru, who other than me is going to buy a sword with no scabbard?" She scoffs.
"I-I can do 100k!"
"45k, for wasting my time."
"Miss!"
Kakuzu watches with mild amusement as Erika goes back and forth with the man, and finally comes away with the sword for 65k— ten times cheaper than the original price.
As she walks away, getting out a scroll to seal her purchase in, he follows her, Hidan on his heels.
"That was fucking wild, Erika!" Hidan cackles. "That old bastard folded like a bad hand of cards."
"It helps he was stupid," she shrugs. "This thing is actually Shin-shinto. He was upcharging me but it's worth at least 400k. It'll polish up nice. I have a scabbard in here somewhere I can fit to it. Nearest pawn shop will take it for at least a mil."
She tosses Kakuzu a glance over her shoulder. "I paid for it with my own money. Just like the room I'm going to get. I'm not sharing with you two stooges."
"What's that supposed to mean?!" Hidan scoffs, while Kakuzu boils inside with an uncomfortable mixture of intense seething and begrudging approval. He desperately wanted to kill her and take her in. But... at the very least, the dokuhime could clearly make her own money, and he wouldn't need to dole out anything to keep her quiet.
And her bartering game was mildly impressive. If he wasn't so stubborn, he might ask to utilize her tactics in the future.
But he was, so he wouldn't. Over his undead body.

*Akatsuki* part one
(New story: y/n joined the Akatsuki eight months ago. Pain saw the way they fought and used their techniques and wanted the new addition. Behind closed doors y/n struggles mentally from things of the past.)
18+, strong topics, mental illness, talks of sh(old), drinking and smoking.
***
“Where is y/n?” Asks Pain as he counts all personal for the meeting. Everybody shrugs their shoulders. Just as clueless as their leader currently.
“Someone please get her.” Says the red headed leader, pressing his fingers into his temples.
Kisame pushes himself up from his seat to retrieve the missing member. Down the hall he finds himself knocking on the quiet girls door, hearing the faint music and smelling the smoke.
“What?” Y/n asks from the other side of the metal door. Kisame pushes it open, eyeing y/n suspiciously as she lays on her bed, joint in one hand, with a beer in the other. She looks up at him, questioning him with her eyes.
“We have a meeting.” Kisame explains. He watches as she puts the joint in the ashtray that sits beside her. The beer is placed back on the table and she turns off the stereo with a black remote. The pair walk in silence back to the office. Nobody dared look up at her when they entered. Kisame moved forward and takes his seat nearest Pain. Y/n lingers up against the wall in the corner.
Over the next hour y/n listens closely to what her new leader says. Going over everyone’s assignments for next weeks mission. Only four days away.
“Y/n. I’m certain you know your task?” Questions the pierced man.
“I’ll infiltrate the base while you have the rest distracted. Slip the files into my robe and leave. Meet back at the randevu point.” Explains y/n as she fiddles with her long nails.
“Good. I’m giving you a partner.” Says her boss suddenly.
“What?! I always work alone.” Exclaims y/n. For the eight months y/n has been a part of the Akatsuki, they have never paired her up with someone, trusting her enough to sneak in and out without complications. She’s shown her skill multiple times, earning all members her trust.
“Kisame you’re with y/n.” Says Pain. He grunts in reply, letting his boss know he is fine with this. Kisame always prefers to work with someone, he enjoys the company, yet he’ll never voice that.
“Any complaints y/n?” Pain eyes her curiously, wanting to see if she’ll have a snarky answer. He’s surprised to see her raise her hands in defeat, choosing not to go against her bosses orders, knowing it’d be useless anyway.
“Alright. Meeting adjourned. You can go back to whatever it is you do.” Says Pain, watching his members retreat to their quarters. He slips himself through the back door of the office that leads to his room, wanting to meditate and charge until this upcoming mission.
Back in y/n’s room, she re-lights the joint she never finished and goes back to drinking. She hits the play button on the remote with a free finger, letting the music consume her thoughts.
‘Now what?’ She thinks to herself when another knock hits her door.
“You don’t need to knock when you want in. I do not care.” Y/n voices irritably. The metal door opens slowly, Kisame poking his head through.
“I just thought we should plan this out.” Kisame says, now standing against the closed door.
“Got any ideas? I don’t work with partners.” Explains y/n, truly unaware of the best way to work with another person. Even before joining the Akatsuki she never had a partner. The missions the Hokage would send her on were always solos, even when people tried arguing against it.
“That’s fine.” Says y/n after Kisame explains the one idea he thought of. An eyebrow raises as he watches her turn onto her side, trying to grab another bottle from the six pack that sits near her trash can. She pops the top off with the sharp point of her Kunai, sending the lid into the trash.
“Anything else?” She questions after the room fell silent of the chatter. Kisame stares into her glossy and blood shot eyes for a moment, deciding on making an excuse to stay or to leave the introverted one alone. Y/n reaches down, about to ash the roach in the tray when Kisame speaks up.
“May I?” He asks, sticking his hand out. Y/n puts the paper to her lips and readjusts, changing the way she holds it before passing it to her new partner. Smoke clouds y/n face as she exhales, watching Kisame take a hit through the smoke. Smirking when he tries holding in a small cough.
“Don’t make fun, it’s been a while.” Says Kisame awkwardly, trying to hide his slight embarrassment that for once in his life he can’t keep up with somebody. Y/n again, holds her arms up, showing through movement that she has nothing to say. A few moments later when the roach is almost ash itself, Kisame leans forward, smushing the now coal burnt rolling paper into the bottom of the ash tray. Kisame turns to leave, the door almost closing all the way when y/n mentions an idea.
“We should smoke together more often.” She says cooly, still laying the same way when he first came to retrieve her. Kisame winks in reply, letting the door thud behind him.
***
“Is she always like that?” Asks Kisame to his member and lifelong friend Kakuzu. He looks up from the table, being pulled away from the stacks of money laid out in front of him.
“Y/n? Oh yea.” Replies the stitched man. Refocusing of his bills.
“Well. Not always. She was different…before.” Continues Kakuzu, a moment later, now looking up at his friend who leans against the part of the wall that juts out.
“What do you mean, before?” Questions the man, eyebrow raising in curiosity.
“She went through a lot during her early teen years. She’s been reserved and..I don’t know how to put it. But like that.” He gestures towards the wall that is in the direction of y/n’s room. “Ever since.” He finishes.
“How do you know so much?” Asks Kisame smuggly. Watching how his friend reacts to these questions.
“We’ve known each other for a while before she joined. She was on one of her missions for the Hokage. Saw I was in trouble, helped me out. I owe her my life.” Replies Kakuzu.
“I would tell you more bud, but it’s not my place.” He says shrugging. “You’ll just have to earn enough trust from her just so she’d tell you when her birthday is. When I said she’s reserved, I mean ‘really’ reserved.” Kakuzu says, finally finishing his small speech.
“Damn. Don’t think I’ve ever met someone so…confidential.” Replies Kisame, now going over every person he’s met. None meeting the same criteria as his new partner.
“You’ll get used to the silence. Even with people she’s most comfortable with, she doesn’t say more than a few words. Her childhood really fucked it all up for her.” Says Kakuzu suddenly.
“Come in.” Says Kakuzu when a knock came through and disturbed the conversation. The blonde haired Deidara pops his head in.
“Dinners ready if you’re hungry. Konan put it together today.” He says. “Thanks. We’ll come get some in a minute. Just finishing up a talk.” Replies Kakuzu. “May I ask what about? I’m very knowledgeable.” Says Deidara in his know-it-all tone that he likes to use to be a smart ass.
“Y/n’s secrecy.” Answers Kisame.
“Never-mind then.” Replies Deidara, shutting the door quickly and retreating to the dining area.
“See what I mean? One of the smartest members on are team is stumped and you know damn well that never happens.” Says Kakuzu as he pushes himself up on his knees, joining his friend.
“Let’s go. I’m starving.” He says, holding the door open for Kisame and himself to slip out through.
In the dining area, all the members sit at a table, or standing off to the side. The only person yet to be seen is y/n.
“Is she not eating?” Whispers Kisame to Kakuzu. All he does is shrug is shoulders as he stuffs the hot food into his mouth. “Don’t worry about it.” He starts. “She skips meals time to time.” He continues in between bites. Kisame pushes his worry off to the side and joins the rest of his team mates in meal, chowing down on the delicious feast in front of him.

Decorate♥Crimson Chocolat Festival Chapter Ten
(...Anzu… You still won’t meet eyes with me)
Cast: Keito, Tori, Adonis
Author: Yuuki Yoshino
Season: Winter
[On the day of the ChocoFes]
Tumblr media
Keito: (There’s more customers here than I expected)
(In the afternoon, Yumenosaki’s leading powerhouses “UNDEAD” and “Knights” will take to the stage)
(It’ll be too late if we don’t act quickly)
(...Stay calm, we’ll take this step by step)
Tumblr media
Tori: Vice President~!
Keito: Hm? Himemiya. What is it, is there a problem?
Tori: If there was just a single problem, let’s just say it's multiplying. If things continue as it is now, fights will breakout for this precious handmade chocolate.
Keito: I see… Anyway, Himemiya. As a member of fine, weren’t you lot performing this morning?
Tori: Mhhm~ We even went into overtime. Isn’t Trickstar performing right now?
That means you don’t have to leave just yet! That’s why I’m here, to help with the student council work~ It’s not so easy with just the Vice President, right?
Keito: Aren’t you cheeky… You’ve grown, Himemiya.
Tori: Fufun! Didn’t I tell you before? I’m going to be the future student council president!
I’ve even gotten to the point where I can handle the annoying work I’d hand off to my servants.
I practised loads for the “ChocoFes,” so now I’m going to kick Trickstar’s butts and show them who’s on top~♪
Keito: Heh, you’re getting fired up.
Tori: Duh! And what about AKATSUKI… I mean, are you okay Vice President? I was wondering if you solved your issues without becoming my apprentice~ Are you still worried?
Keito: Aah, we solved the issue.
Tori: Hm? It doesn’t look like your bluffing. You seem to have a sharp look on your face too, Vice President.
Aww man~ I was going to take this opportunity to play around with the Vice President in a weakened state~?
It doesn’t matter though, whatever you AKATSUKI have up your sleeves won’t be a match for fine, ‘cuz fine is number one! ♪
Tumblr media
Adonis: (It’s lively, and something smells sweet. Is it the smell of the chocolate?)
(The other members probably have gathered already. And the other unit which is going to present on stage is waiting in the soundproof practice room)
Hm…? Is that Anzu? I couldn’t see her face behind all those boxes, so it’s hard to recognize her)
Tumblr media
It’s heavy, isn’t it? Here, let me lend a hand. How far out do you need me to carry all this?
The soundproof practice room? I was heading there myself. Hm? The costumes are a delivery for the unit that’s performing this afternoon?
Aah, Anzu, you’re making costumes for those participating in the “ChocoFes,” is that right?
There’s a lot of units to account for who are participating in the “ChocoFes,” and I’m certain each and everyone of these costumes must have taken you a lot of effort to create.
…I see, of course you couldn’t do it alone. You asked a contract worker, or a school part timer, to help you?
That’s right, It’s better to rely on someone instead of overworking yourself. I told you I’m heading over to the soundproof practice room, so I’ll help you carry this stuff there.
(...Anzu… You still won’t meet eyes with me)
(Maybe this is my chance to ask you what I did wrong?)
Hm? You’re sorry…? Why, why are you apologising, Anzu?
Hmm, there’s been a misunderstanding?
What do you mean by misunderstanding? You’ve been avoiding me and if there’s a reason, I would like to hear it.
…Don’t ask you now? Because we should get going soon?
Understood. If you say so, we’ll leave it for later, when there’s time to talk.
Thank you. I know now that you don’t hate me, and for now that’s enough.

1. Favorite Anime? Naruto, GANGSTA., Black Lagoon, Michiko to Hatchin, Ergo Proxy, Death Note, No.6, Shingeki no Kyojin would've made this list if it was written by Jewish writers bc my& mixed native jewish ass is conflicted w/ this one, Deadman Wonderland, I& haven't finished Tokyo Ghoul yet but it's really good, I& didn't finish Kuroshitsuji either but i& rly vibed w/ the aesthetic, BNHA was... ehhhh, okay, didn't really vibe w/ the whole ableist trope of "disabled coded character magically gets new powers or becomes abled" so I& dropped it, I& know for a fact that the animated ASOIAF stuff coming up is gonna make me& reverse shit myself&. all i& know is that if the books were animated that would fix me&. 2. Your Worst Anime? Can't rly think of any tbh, I'm& picky, the closest I& could think of was the Boruto series. Mostly bc it basically destroyed any kind of development in Shippuden & shit just doesn't make sense & not to mention it slaughters Sasuke's character & just the entire female cast as a whole which im& not even gonna get into for the sake of my& own sanity. lmao 3. Do you read the Manga that go with the Anime you watch? Usually yeah but I like to keep these separate tbh. I read the manga only if I know that the anime won’t get a second season and I’m still interested in what happens next. Anyway, in short, I bother with the manga only if I really love the anime ie gangsta & naruto but I& can't watch or read long series anymore due to adhd & spoonie reasons lmao 4. Favorite Genres? action, supernatural, fantasy, science fiction, comedy, horror, psychological. 5. Least Favorite Genres? Harem mostly bc the dudes are so lame & basic lmao 6. Favorite Character? Erica ( GANGSTA. ), Beretta ( GANGSTA. ), the Benriya trio ( GANGSTA. ), basically the entire Second & Third Destroyers regiments ( GANGSTA. ), basically the entire Akatsuki ( Naruto ), basically any of the founders ( Naruto ), any of the jinchuriki & tailed beasts/bijuu ( my& plural ass vibed w/ them so hard & i& didnt even know i& was plural at the time lmao ), Michiko Malandro ( what do u think lmao ), Nezumi ( No.6 ), Uchiha Madara ( Naruto; he really is That Black Air Force Energy Icon ) Eren Jaeger (snk; LISTEN HE'S MY& INSYS BF IM& CHEATING OKAY ), Mihael Kheel / Mello ( Death Note; g-d he's so fucking iconic ), Misa Amane ( Death Note ), L Lawliet ( Death Note; aro autistic mf represent ) Marco Adriano ( GANGSTA. ), Rebecca Lee / Revy ( Black Lagoon; she could beat my& ass & i'd& thank her lmao ), Eda ( Black Lagoon; smth about a nun w/ a gun who dresses up like a bimbo at night but is actually a cia agent makes me& go WOOF WOOF BARK BARK ). others im& def forgetting lmao 7. Least Favorite Character? bitch idk 8. Qualities you like in a Character? Kindhearted, caring, badass, strong-willed, cheeky, has deadpan sense of humor. women who can beat my& ass. poor little meow meows. 9. Short or Long anime? Short these days. I& litcherally Cannot watch longer anime. naruto was my& first long anime & it'll likely be my& last lmao 10. Anime or Manga? I procrastinate both but I guess manga, mostly because I can read it without fearing that the plot will go to shit  11. How do you choose the anime you watch? If it has pretty art, if the aesthetic is pretty, if my& friends watch it 12. Skip or listen to Intros/Outros? I usually always listen. I& literally never skip Naruto, Black Lagoon or the GANGSTA. openings & EDs 13. How do you cope if your friends or family don’t like you watching anime? most ppl around me& like anime but if they don't i& dont give a fuck?? like. why the fuck should i& care what other ppl think lmfao 14. Do you stop an anime midway if you don’t like it? I& sometimes drop anime for no reason whatsoever. lmao It’s a waste of time if it doesn’t hold your attention, let alone if you don’t like it. it's somewhat what happened w/ bnha as explained above. i& just really dislike that trope as a disabled & neurodivergent system lmao 15. Who are you tagging to do this? @librastrai @dethqveen @abri-chan & whoever else wants to do this !!

Congrats on 200 Followers 💕
If you’d like I’d humbly ask for an ObitoXReader thing with the following quote as inspiration (angst, happy ending, bad ending, I don’t care):
„We are soul mates, cursed with misfortune in this lifetime.
How many more lives do I have to endure to finally be with you?
How many deaths do I have to suffer to be finally yours?“
Happy writing!
Hiiiiii!! Finally FINALLY have the time to work through my backlog and had time to finish this! I am not 100% sure I fit your prompt, but I like my story idea so I ran with it anyway. I hope you can forgive me! <3

You are in love with a ghost. A person that only exists in dark nights and hushed words and is gone by the time the sun rises.
When your friends sit together and talk of love and conquests, of triumph and pain and they hit you lightly in the side to ask you how your love life is going, you just smile calmly and say you aren’t seeing anybody. They don’t know about the nights you stay away listening for the quietest movement, the swirl of air around you announcing him. They don’t know the way your skin feels like the touch still lingers on it, nothing but a whisper, a memory that is fading as soon as you’ve made it.
So you say no, you are seeing nobody, that you haven’t lain with someone in months, because only you can see him. He has never told you to keep his visits secret, but you took the implication from his introduction. Maybe that is why he keeps coming back to you. You don’t mind that he is only a ghost.
The first time he met you, you were scared of him. It did not matter that you grew up in a desolate village on the outskirts of water country, you knew what it meant when a person in black cloak and red clouds approached you. You’d hear the news, the stories about the legendary group of rogues out to achieve world domination, the Akasuki. You shrunk from him, backed off against your chair in the little bar you were sitting in.
But then he opened his mouth, voice dark and vibrating in your soul. He was wearing a mask of an orange swirl and once he spoke the air turned and so did your insides. It was like magic drawing you into him and soon you let him sit next to you and buy you drinks. He was flattering, never too revealing, even his fingers covered with gloves. But his voice was what took you in.
He told you he did things only once, that he just needed a distraction and that he’d chosen you to be that person. You weren’t into one night things, not usually, but there was the excitement and fear of being with an international criminal that tickled at your neck. You’d always been a little too reckless for your own good, born away from world history but with a personality to take part in it. You let him buy you more drinks and then whispered to him the location you were living at. Better not to be seen with an Akatsuki in public.
It was a good arrangement, a night of good fun and enjoyment. It was dark when he took his mask off, too dark for you to make out the face beneath it, even when his lips graced your neck and collarbone downwards between your legs. Surely he had known you wouldn’t be able to see him, anticipated it from the beginning and you were not complaining. For all you knew he’d be gone by the morning. Nothing but a phantom.
Tobi, he said you should call him and you knew he was lying. It wasn’t his name. It sounded wrong when he said it, like he was ashamed to use it. There was baggage attached to him, you could feel it, but you were content to not ask. The less you were involved with Akatsuki the better.
He was really gone when you woke up, though his smell lingered on your sheets, his taste in your mouth, his touch on your skin. A ghost of your memory, come and gone like a dream.
And that could have been it. The end of your affair with a criminal. You went back to your normal life of gossip and work and day dreaming of making it out, while at night you kept thinking about Tobi still. The memory so alive in your mind that you found your fingers snail between your legs more than once.
Maybe you should have known that a person like him was a liar. Maybe you should have been expecting it. No matter how often he had mentioned that you’d never see him again, Tobi came back to you just about a month later. Late at night when you were already fast asleep and the night was at its darkest. You could feel the air change and sat up to see his figure against the pale moonlight from outside. You could have asked of course, asked him where he came from, why he was back, but instead you buried a hand in his sweater as he buried it in your hair. His mask fell in the dark when his lips found yours.
He’d come back quite some after that. Sometimes every week, sometimes every few weeks or a month would pass, but he’d always be back for you eventually. You started seeing the signs in the way the air moved during the day, or in the eyes of a strange nin passing through your village, or when you saw a black cloak with red clouds moving in your general eyesight. Tobi seemed to like warning you beforehand, appearing during the day at a place that you generally were, to prepare you for the night. Maybe to say: don’t sleep too early. Or: dress up nicely. And you did it. Anything for him really.
Tobi was a good listener and he was interested in your life. After you had finished the fun he would hold you steady against his beating heart and let you talk about yourself. There was a childish curiosity in him that you hadn’t seen in the first two meetings, a deep longing for a normal life, you guessed. Sometimes you could feel it, the jealousy of his at the mundane state your life was in. Things you had seen as boring, dinner with parents or work or meeting up with friends, he was very interested in and wanted to hear more about. You liked his attention to you, so you talked until deep into the night.
Always gone come sunrise, you knew you’d never know where he came and went. Why does he sometimes smell like grass or snow or rain, a lot of rain? How he travelled was a mystery to you too. He seemed to appear and disappear at the blink of an eye, with as much as a slight movement of wind. And you admired him, you adored him, and the more you saw him you loved him.
At first you denied it. It was just sleeping together. You didn’t even know his face or his appearance, not more than your fingers touching their way over his naked skin. You didn’t know his real name or history or why he had been forced to go rogue. You could not love a man based on voice alone, right? This was not how love worked. Still you did. It had come over you more suddenly than anything else. Not even you could deny it any longer.
He was the ghost in your life. Appearing whenever he felt like it and then disappearing when he felt like it and you adjusted yourself towards him. You bought nicer nightgowns, you changed your sheets, you brought in external toys for you to use, you put up darker blinds to keep the light out more, you even prepared food for him sometimes after he had appeared once and his stomach had been growling with hunger. You offered this ghost a home life and he thanked you for it with lips and tongue and warm embraces. Nobody had ever made your heart beat quite as fast.
You could not ask Tobi about his life. Any innocent question about parents or childhood or school was immediately blocked off, and only a limited amount of knowledge about his criminal life was available to you. As your love for him grew so grew your longing for adventure. Who cared if it made you a criminal if you’d go with him? Getting out of this place and being with him on any and all of his missions seemed perfect to you.
But no matter how much you begged for him to take you, the answer stayed no. Tobi said with his nose in your hair, that you were too pure to go. That he needed you here, save and waiting for him. That was when you first thought that maybe he was in love with you too. You wondered if that meant you could ever be together like normal couples did, but you never asked. The state between the both of you was thin and fragile and you felt like it could burst with just one misplaced question.
So when your friends ask why you are happy lately, why your mind seems to wander off when you smile quietly to yourself, you can’t tell them about the ghost that visits you, because they would not understand. Maybe they’d tell you to stop, given his criminal background or maybe they’d tell you to lock him down somehow, force him to stay. But you don’t feel like you need to do that.
Even in times when he was gone for longer than anticipated he always returned to you. Tobi would always come back to see you eventually. You are sure of that. Locking him down wasn’t necessary.
It’s about a month since you’ve last seen Tobi when you step out of work and feel the air swirl around your nose enticingly. You can feel that it is time for him to come back, if not tonight then in the coming days. You can almost see the black cloak in front of you disappearing around a corner calling your home, to your real home. Your heart beats excitedly. This time he just had to take you.
You pretty much run through the shops to buy food for him, rice cakes, his favourites and dango and some more meat for you to cook for the both of you. He has complimented you on your cooking skills more than once so now you do it every time for him. His little praises are like a soothing cream on your soul. Additionally you run to the local seamstress who recently made you a new kimino to wear for special occasions. It has the orange colour and swirls of his mask built in, you drew the pattern down, and suits your hair and eyes. When you try it on you look fantastic.
The way home takes a little longer with all the groceries and the kimono packed under your arm but you make it as fast as you possibly can. You think of his lips and his tongue, his arms and his hair, you think of how much you missed him in these past months, you wonder what he has been up to. You wish again that you could be there with him, supporting him and protecting him. But then again, you never had shinobi training, so how should you even do that?
Tobi is not in your house when you return, does not come out of the shadows to greet you like he has done so many times before. You wonder if you guessed the signs wrong, if you had read too much in ordinary patterns. But then you saw the red cloud on black back, right? Your eyes couldn’t have deceived you that much.
You put the little things you bought away and put on the new kimono, wrapping it tightly around you so it flatters your figure. It looks good on you, exactly like you envisioned it when you saw the fabric in the store. Maybe he’d still come and see you in it, admire you and your beautiful curves under it and maybe this meant he would finally take you away with him.
With the beautiful fabric on you sit on your bed and push your hands over the sheets. Maybe it has not yet gotten dark enough for him to see you, the sun had just barely set behind the horizon, or maybe he was waiting for people in the building to go to sleep. Or maybe he just didn’t come. You feel the disappointment at your heart like a poisoned sting. You look at yourself in your side mirror and realise how pretty you've made yourself for him. A ghost. No schedule, no promises kept. Just a ghost.
He comes at midnight, you’ve already slept a little in the meantime and jump up from your chair when you hear the familiar swirl of air. “To-”, you begin your voice dying instantly. Tobi is soaked. Head to feet soaked. Water dripping from hair and cloak and boats as if he fell into the lake nearby somehow. Not only that, his mask is chipped at the top so that you can see a black eye peering at you from beneath it. It must have cracked somehow. You see the worst thing last: one of his arms is missing.
“Tobi? What happ-” you start a new sentence but he audibly drops the cloak off his shoulders. He hisses at the movement and hunches over as if in pain. You rush forward and hold him, your hands flying to his stomach, the abs beneath it you’d felt so many times in your familiar darkness, and notice the open wounds. He must have been badly burned somehow. Maybe from an explosion? But what was the soaked cloak for then? Was he in a fire or in a rainshower? You have so many questions, but you hold it back. That was why he had come back to you over others he might have had in the first place, you kept quiet.
“I can fix this'', you say soothingly, and Tobi’s head falls on your shoulder as you softly take a scissor from your desk and cut open his shirt. Underneath his skin comes in two colours, as if he is a patched up doll. You try to pay it no mind in fear that your questions might scare Tobi away, while you can feel his breath in your ear. He seems content with you touching him, seems to trust you fully.
He murmurs into your ear: “You look good by the way”, as you clean his wounds with spiritus and appear. You had totally forgotten what you were wearing. One look down into your lap shows you the new kimino completely stained with blood and water. Well, it does not matter as long as Tobi is safe, you think and continue to bandage his wounds. Luckily you know as much to be of help to him.
Plus, you can't deny the euphoria you feel that he has come to you for help and no other place. This injury seems grave, his arm is gone after all, but he did not seek out another doctor or healer, he sought you. Because you are his home exactly like he is yours. Another time you realise that your ghost is a real human, who bleeds and fights and loves. You press a kiss to his hair on your shoulder still and he hums as a reply.
About ten minutes later he lays eyes closed on your bed. You almost fully undressed him, his trained body fully in view for you for the first time. Tobi is breathing in and out slowly, most of his wounds taken care of. You look over your work with a satisfied smile and then turn to your kitchen to make some food for him. You left the mask on his face, even if it was half ripped off, because you want to show him your respect.
When you are done you help him sit up, your hand steady on his naked back, and give him the bowl to eat out of. He eats the food greedily, seeming like he hasn’t eaten in a long while. You watch him with growing concern. Always you’ve been patient with him, have left him his privacy and secrets- a proof of your love for him. But you are weary now and seeing him this injured? You trace your finger over his back.
“What happened, Tobi? You have one arm less,” you say quietly, the fabric of your kimono ruffling under your hand. He shoots you a look from the uncovered part of his face, but does not reply. It is as if he was to say: “I will pretend I didn't hear that.” Under any other circumstances you would let it go, but you can’t. Not tonight.
You decide not to back down: “I want to know what you did that injured you so greatly. I think-” I am owned as much, you want to say, but you eat the words. After all, the two of you are not a couple, not officially. Your love only exists in nights when nobody can see or hear. You have no demands to make on his life.
“Someone blew the arm up”, Tobi says dryly and makes the sentence sound like it is the end of the conversation. He finishes his food and leans over to cover your eyes with his free hand and then kisses your neck gently, then your jaw and then your lips. You want to melt into him like you so often did before, after all you have missed him for the past month or so, but you know he does it as a distraction and you have not yet given up your defiance.
“Tobi”, you say decidedly and push him away a little, “why did someone try to blow you up? I- I understand that you are doing… well, illegal things with that organisation, but- but  I- I don’t want you to be this hurt, you understand?” You stutter more than you anticipated.
Tobi lets the hand off  your eyes and watches you. It is weird to be able to directly look into his eye, see the way his gaze hangs on you. You are sure to see a little light flashing behind it, as if he feels pity for you, but then his eyes harden and you can see the frown even with his mask on his face. “That does not concern you.”
“I think it does a little” you reply quickly, “you came here injured, pouring water, arm missing and you expect me to just not say anything? Clean you up and make you food and open my legs for nothing in return?” Maybe there is a little too much hurt behind your words.
He says nothing, head turned away from you now. “Why did you come here today?” you say to get his attention back to you. “I’m sure there are more capable healing shinobi out there in your world, the world I don’t know, than me. And still you came here. Why?”
Your heart beats against your chest. Tobi breathes in and out, free eye locked onto the wall to his right. Then, finally, he says: “I wanted to see you.” The honesty of the reply shocks you harder than you would have thought it would. His flushed cheeks give his feelings away. You were right, he did come to see you when he was in dire straits because you had become his home. Because he loves you like you love him. You don’t need him to say it out loud, because you can see it.
“I’m glad you did. I missed you”, it is the first time you admit to that. Focusing too hard on appearing as casual with you as he appeared with you in the past. For a moment you think he might kiss you again, as he leans his body over you. Your eye meets his dark one again and there is a deep sadness in his, but instead of kissing you he pushes past you to get up, straighten his spine and pull on the wet clothes again, if a little hard with only one hand.
You sit up to move your hand forward to grab the back of his shirt before he can throw the ripped up cloak over it. “You are already leaving?” you ask, voice a little shaky. You feel like maybe you’ve asked him too much, pushed a little too hard for him to open up to you.
“There are important things to take care off- a better world to create…” his voice trails off and you aren’t sure you have heard the tail end of the sentence correctly. He is trying to build a better world? You hesitate to ask and miss the opportunity. “I just meant to check in before- before it all happens. To refresh my memory.”
None of that makes any sense to you: “Refresh your memory for what?” He does not reply, instead he wiggles himself out of your grip and throws his wet cloak over his shoulders. Before you can think or stop yourself you have gotten up and stepped into his way, the fabric of your new and stained kimono flying around your legs.
“Take me,” you say and it comes out much more breathless than any word before, “Take me with you this time. I want to go where you are going.”
Tobi looks to you, his eyes finding yours again below his chipped orange swirl. He looks lonely again, sad, as if something is weighing him down. He looks from your face to your updo to your kimono to your legs. “You really did look good today”, he says in a soft voice, as if the anger from just a minute ago has faded. “But I can’t take you. Do you understand that?” He puts his hand on your shoulder. “It is way too dangerous where I am going and you should wait here for it to happen.”
“It to happen?” you ask back innocently. He shakes his head: “You will see. Everybody will see. Be a good girl, be my good girl and wait here for me.” You bite your lip because the defiant part of you wants to say something back to him, but the other part of you that loves him above everything else wants nothing but to obey him.
You take a breath. “You’ll come back in due time, promise me that!” you say and know that there is a plea in your eyes. Tobi lets a hand fall from your shoulder and steps back towards the still opened window.
“I can promise you that we will be together”, he says, “When we see each other again, we will see each other forever. No more goodbyes. I promise.”
You quickly step forward and take his naked fingers between yours and kiss the tip of them. “I will wait for you then. I will wait forever if it means we can be together”, you say and mean it. Tobi’s eyes burn over you again as he takes his hand back. Then the swirl of air comes back, the one that you know so well now and he is gone.
He always came back, so you do not worry about his promise. In fact, your heart is so full of happiness and love at the thought of the exact wording of it. He told you when he would come back the next time you could be together forever. That he’d never leave you again. What else could that mean than that he would take you with him, finally. Bring you away from your boring everyday life.
You sing as you take off your kimino and brush out your hair, almost too drunk on love.
-
The news reaches you two months later. About Uchiha Obito and his crusade against the world. About the dream you and others suddenly found themselves in not long ago. You just need to hear his name for the first time to know it is him, that they are talking about your Tobi. That they talk about the man you love when they celebrate his defeat and death.
Your grief is not understandable for anyone around you and you can’t explain it. After all, the man you were in love with was nothing but a ghost.

Love Letter - Prologue 2
Author: Umeda Chitose
Characters: Yuuta, Hinata
Translator: Mika Enstars
Proofer: Kirin
"I mean more than that, though. We’re regarded as one of the strongest units now! Don’t you want to show that off too?"
Season: Autumn
Location: Yumenosaki Academy Garden Terrace
Tumblr media
Hinata: What for lunch today… Should we make our own food instead? What do you think, Yuuta-kun?
Yuuta: I already bought a meal ticket for the super spicy mapo curry! Topped with hot chilis…♪
Hinata: Bleh. Just hearing that made my mouth hurt…
I’ll get a pork curry with grilled veggies, then.
…Anyways, isn’t it shocking that there are doubts about holding Chocolat Fes?
Yuuta: It’s insane how things happening in a country we don’t even know is affecting our idol activities.
Hinata: Funny, it does make you think how the world is so connected~, huh. Welp, it really gives you a new perspective of things…
So Chocolat Fes will either be held like it was before, or it will have to go under some changes.
Being the one of the strongest units, shall we consider which path we’ll go with?
Yuuta: Yes, indeed. As one of the strongest units, asked personally by the student council. ♪
Hinata: It’s next year, there’s still time left until then. Though, since we just heard about it, how about having a lil’ brainstorm over Chocolat Fes during our meal?
Yuuta: Even though nobody knows of the morrow, won’t the devils laugh?[1] Though I guess just thinking about it is fine. We can come up with some ideas as we talk.
Hinata: Okie~! ♪ Lemme go first, then.
Chocolat Fes is an event where you make the audience happy and deliver love from the idols, right?
That’s why I think the most important thing is to get as close as we can to those who came to the live shows, to reach their hearts. Thoughts?
Yuuta: To keep in line with the spirit of the event? I think it’s good, but doesn’t that seem like something a newbie unit would be doing already?
It’s their first participation in Chocolat Fes, they’ll stick to the general gist of the event without doing anything too bold.
Plus, Chocolat Fes is an event where even AKATSUKI does fanservice on the stage, any unit would just be following suit.
If possible, I wanna think of what only we can do. I want to think of something that can only be done by us, because only we can do it.
Hinata: Hmm… But even if we do something similar, don’t you think we’ll be able to give our performance our own unique oomph?
Yuuta: I mean more than that, though. We’re regarded as one of the strongest units now! Don’t you want to show that off too?
Like putting together a luxurious set, like Valkyrie does! Wowing the audience with a spectacular performance unprecedented in the history of Yumenosaki!
Hinata: …Let’s talk about somethin’ else real quick. The topic being, how to solve the sweets conundrum!
Yuuta: If it’s possible, I want to avoid using sweets other than chocolate as much as we can, otherwise Chocolat Fes will lose its flair.
The image of chocolate is so strong at this point, if we switch to another candy, it’ll probably have a huge impact on the event… or something?
Hinata: Sure, we’ll decide on something new, but… Chocolate is for Valentine’s Day! When you think of chocolate, you think of Valentine’s Day!
Yuuta: Honestly, wouldn’t the easiest way to get chocolate supplied be to just disregard the relationship between Yumenosaki and the manufacturer?
Hinata: Maybe. Vice Prez has no connection at all with Yumenosaki, so if we ask him, we might be able to get some cacao supplied in secret through a different route.
But something like that would be a shameless way out. We can’t, it wouldn’t give a good impression to the rest of the students…!
Yuuta: Man, but we’d just be procuring chocolate at the request of the student council. I want them to praise us, saying we did a good job~!
Hinata: …Oh, how about preparing chocolate-scented cards? We could write letters on them as messages!
Delivering feelings to your fans is perfect for ChocoFes…♪
Yuuta: I see where you’re coming from, but isn’t that a bit too pathetic? It seems no different than something a freshman would do.
I wanna do something more flashy, something the strongest unit in Yumenosaki would do!
We’re the only unit enrolled in Yumenosaki that’s also affiliated with CosPro, after all…
I wonder if we could put our all into a pitch to the agency to get the Vice Prez’s cooperation and some extra funding?
Hinata: What would you wanna do with the agency’s help and an increased budget, Yuuta-kun?
Tumblr media
Yuuta: Well, umm… Uhh… So we could make a luxurious set, or something…?
Hinata: Yeah, you mentioned earlier about a luxurious set like Valkyrie’s. What else were you thinking?
Yuuta: Urggh… I still have to come up with a concrete idea of what I wanna do for the stage and set.
Hinata: So all your ideas are still as soft as marshmallows, huh…
We can’t seem to find anything we can agree on here, can we? I feel if we keep going, we’ll just be stuck in a loop of not coming to a conclusion…!
Yuuta: I feel so too. And our curry will get cold at this rate…
Hinata: Then without further ado, let’s dig in! There’s still time until Chocolat Fes, who knows what’ll happen ’til then.
We’ll just have to keep our ideas in mind, and we’ll talk about a plan as we find out more!
You’re right. The fact we have differing opinions right now doesn’t mean we can’t eventually combine our individual thoughts together.
Hinata: That’s true…
Well, come to me if you run into any trouble with planning or getting approval from the Vice Prez! I think I’m a bit more experienced with those sortsa things.
Yuuta: Yeah, yeah. As we’d expect from our ever-so-reliable unit leader.
…Alrighty, let’s switch gears and eat! Sorry to keep you waiting, my super spicy mapo curry…♪
Hinata: Me too! Time to dig in~, pork curry with grilled veggies…☆

Referencing the saying “speak of next year and the devils will laugh”; basically “speak of next year’s events when the next year comes”. A similar English saying is “don’t count your chickens before they are hatched”, except on a year-by-year basis.

Tomoya: Hello, Hasumi-senpai. Could I sit next to you?
Keito: Mashiro. You can sit wherever you'd like.
Keito: But this is the final rehearsal before the performance. Since only associated parties and guests are allowed to watch, there's no need to sit close together, right?
Tomoya: That's true. But you know, Narukami-senpai told me I should bring a kerchief, because their performance would be a tear-jerker.
Tomoya: And I thought, it'd be super embarrassing to be seen crying by a random person that happened to be sitting near me, right? Which made me think that if someone was going to see me cry, it'd be better if it was someone I knew.
Tomoya: But even if it's Hasumi-senpai, it still feels embarrassing. Ehehe.
Keito: Hm. The more reputed a play is for being a 'tear-jerker', the more conscious of crying you feel, don't you think?
Tomoya: Ah, that's true. If you feel self-conscious, you'd probably be less prone to crying.
Tomoya: Anyways, I'm looking forward to seeing this sad, but heartwarming story. Hokuto-senpai praised your script too.
Keito: Hidaka did?
Tomoya: Yeah. This performance is in a completely different style than the ones you've written before. He was impressed, saying, "I'm surprised he can handle a wide range of genres, from serious to comedic."
Tomoya: I heard that they were careful with adapting the script so as not to kill its charm. If I didn't have work, I would've loved to take part too!
Keito: … I also had some work to do, so I just handed the script over to them. The members of Dramatica are all quirky, and are a bit of a handful sometimes.
Keito: But because of the passion they put into their performances, I have faith in them. Next time, I hope to participate as an actor too.
Keito: Hm, an announcement from the stage… Looks as though the show will be delayed for around ten minutes.
Tomoya: This is a rehearsal after all. I just hope it's not serious. Maybe they aren't done checking equipment.
Tomoya: I guess I could read the pamphlet I got at the entrance to kill time.
Keito: That reminds me, I haven't read it yet either. I'll have a look as well.
Tomoya: … Ah. Like usual, there's a feature article on one of the members of Dramatica. This time, it's Hasumi-senpai right?
Keito: Yes. They interviewed me after the script had been finished. That was a while ago.
Tomoya: Isn't it hard to take pictures for these sorts of interviews? Even if they tell you to act natural, you can't help but feel self-conscious because of the camera.
Tomoya: Even when I try to pose casually, I end up looking like an industry professional. I always feel concerned about that.
Keito: You just have to get used to it through experience, I suppose.
Keito: Whether to sit or stand, where you should look, how you position your hands… No matter how much you overthink it, there are limits to variation.
Keito: The thing that readers are most concerned with is the interview, the photos merely act as decoration.
Tomoya: The photos are decoration… Understood. I guess I won't worry too much, since the main attraction is my answers to the interview questions.
Tomoya: Thanks for the advice Hasumi-senpai.
Keito: It isn't a big deal. I just stated the obvious.
Tomoya: Even if it's 'obvious', it still helped me realize it. Thanks to you, I'll be less afraid of making mistakes.
Tomoya: As the leader of Ra*bits, I feel like I have to be all put-together. I'm immature, so I constantly worry about the littlest things.
Tomoya: Hasumi-senpai, I bet those sorts of little things don't faze you at all…
Keito: No. I have plenty of worries myself.
Keito: I have a meeting regarding the 'Feature Live' after this play. We haven't decided on the kind of performance, what to put on the pamphlet, or anything like that.
Keito: AKATSUKI as a Unit has a distinct aesthetic, so I've been consciously trying to distance myself from that to avoid similarity but… Besides that, we're working with a completely blank slate.
Tomoya: Hm… But even if you gave Anzu-san that much information to work with, I'm sure she'd be able to whip up something nice.
Keito: Hm. But this is an opportunity to respond to all of the fans who would show up to support me at the solo live, so it'd only be logical for me to take the lead when promoting it.
Keito: … The buzzer signaling that the show is opening just sounded, so let's end the conversation here.
Keito: Now, let's direct our attention to the show.
[3 Hours Later, in the Terrace seating area of Cafe COCHI]
Tumblr media
Keito: (That performance… After I submitted the script, I didn't show up to any of the rehearsals that followed.)
Keito: (Perhaps that was why it was so good. It was refreshing to see such an unconstrained interpretation.)
Keito: (When I write, even though I try to imagine how it would look on the stage, It always ends up surpassing my expectations, which is what makes writing feel worthwhile.)
Keito: (What kind of story should I tell next—)
Keito: Hm…. What was that sound... ?
Tumblr media
Keito: … So the culprit was you, Anzu. Why did you just take a picture?
Keito: "I liked your mellow looking gaze" you say? So you wanted to capture me in my natural state for the Feature Live pamphlet?
Keito: If you want to take a picture, it's usually good manners to ask first… That's the extent I'll nitpick though. If that was your intent, I don’t actually take issue with it.
Keito: How long are you going to stand there? Sit down. I want you to show me if you got any good shots.
Tumblr media
Souma: …… dono! Hasumi-dono!
Keito: ? That voice…

I read a bunch of isekai manga of the villainess subgenre so you don't have to!
Bro, procrastinating during finals season looks different for everyone. Ugh... Okay, so I'm going to go through some of the ones that have already been adapted into anime and what I think of them.
Hamefura
Hamefura is the pioneer of this subgenre of a subgenre when it comes to getting an anime adaptation. This show is what taught me that the whole "isekai" and "villainess" genres were not inherently bad if adapted correctly; in fact, they can be quite good! With an enjoyable cast and an amusing setting, this anime is a lot of fun to watch, and it's no wonder that it keeps getting continuations.
Akuyaku Reijou nano de Last Boss wo Kattemimashita
It's not good after episode 5. I went off about it here. Just read the manga or watch the first five episodes and dip. You're not missing anything.
Manga Territory
Akuyaku Reijou no Tsuihougo!
Ah yes, this is the one that started off this rabbit hole of absolute terror. If you want more information about it, I did talk about it here when asking what the reception of it was (in case people really wanted it scanlated). Anyways, it's cheesy and corny, but the voice-over comic sold me on it. I like how they really incorporate her previous life into the decisions she makes, but they should probably explain why she's so dense to romance (or whether she's rebuffing him), in my opinion.
The decision on whether I'd want it scanslated will probably be determined by both reception and how the story moves (because if they ain't together within the next few chapters, I'm leaving. Sayonara losers)
Tumblr media
Tensei Majo wa Horobi wo Tsugeru
This one was fun and all, but it felt really standard out of the batch. It also borrows a ton of ideas from Akatsuki no Yona. While it's about as plain as the previous entry, I actually read this one last, so along with the parody, I got this one. Speaking of Akatsuki no Yona, here are some similarities: Special girl has her life turned upside down by a tragic event and has difficulties with trauma. Boy (non-dragon) comes in and takes her to some place different. Dragon boys start showing up and being added to the... what is now a harem I guess. It's like "Hold on. I've got an idea. Akatsuki no Yona mixed with isekai. The girl is a previous hikikomori too." I mean, I will give credit where it's due, the art is good, but I just feel like reading it was just a deja vu experience.
I find it funny how two male leads in media I've consumed recently have identified as "mothers" of the MCs. Does this mean that girls want someone that will essentially be a mom to them?
Tumblr media
Watashi no Oshi wa Akuyaku Reijou.
Now this is a good parody, but I'll have to get back to everyone if it ends up keeping my interesting. Unlike all of the other entries, this one doesn't have a huge "plot". It's basically just a girl pining for the villainess of an otome game, and the result is a mushy, corny, cheesy pile of "What the heck? That's cute!" It does exactly what it needs to do, and the art is amusing! I also appreciate the approach of "Imagine having an otome game where you're not interested in the guys but a side character"
Tumblr media
Seijo no Hazu ga, Douyara Nottoraremashita
This one was saved for last because it was a darn blast. This one has the weakest, most disproportionate art I've seen in a while in a manga (where frames don't really move). Unlike manga such as Mob Psycho which has an art style that complements the disproportion, this one does not. The characters look like their eyes need to be reoriented sometimes. Or maybe just start again? But man, what it lacks in art it makes up for in story and humour. This may be listed down as a romance, but it takes a good 16-18 chapters to really get going, but it isn't one of those "slow burn" sort of things. It progresses when it wants to progress, and when it doesn't (or even when it does), it will just full-on mock the situation its in with a heroine who reacts in a way that we probably just might. Also, the fake marriage in this one makes a lot of sense from a plot standpoint. Overall, it was enjoyable and stuck out from the rest, but the cover art is extremely misleading (it makes you believe it will be what it is essentially trying to parody sometimes).
Tumblr media
I'm looking forward to that villainess anime with the tsundere and whatnot, so I'm going to read that (hence, I'm reading everything else). I was half-asleep when writing this and reading some of these, so this may have skewed my perception.

"They can fire energy blasts. This one behind me shoots lightning bolts from her little lantern. Damn straight I'm letting them fight. They're way better at it than me."
Somewhat later...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"So you're saying that the last thing you remember is Sasori's death against Sakura? Oh boy, we have a lot to catch up on then... that's still really early in part II, if you didn't know. At least Akatsuki was still the prime threat at that point.
Tumblr media
"So there's something that comes up bigger than Akatsuki, huh? Well, don't hold back, it's not like I can get these volumes myself anymore-- oh, wait, we're here."

"Welcome to Myouren Temple, home of Gensokyo's youkai buddhists. For reasons we're not gonna get into, they decided to place their temple right next to the mausoleum we're headed to, so to get there you have to go through the temple first. We should be fine, but let's go say hello first, it's only polite."

"How generous. But where do you think they all went? Are they out solving this puppet incident too, do you think?"
Tumblr media
"They've helped with solving incidents before, but never all at the same time. This is kinda weird honestly. But... not our problem. Let's rest for a bit before we head to the mausoleum."

"Works for me! So anyway, after that whole arc finishes up, the next one starts, which involves going after Sasuke again, and they've got two new people on their team this time..."
