Grand Duchess Charlotte photographed with her freed sister Antonia, Crown Princess of Bavaria, and a nurse in 1945.
“Both Grand Duchess Charlotte and her younger sister, Princess Antonia, spent the wartime years resisting the Nazi regime. The two sisters did not have similar experiences, with Antonia's story being far more tragic than that of her older sister. The cadet sister of Luxembourg’s matriarch was profoundly affected by her wartime experience, which saw Antonia and her daughters imprisoned in several concentration camps. The family [of Antonia and her husband Rupprecht] became associated with a resistance plot in 1939 and the Gestapo seized Wittelsbach properites, including their main residence, Schloss Leutstetten. Rupprecht fled to Italy in exile and Antonia and the children followed not long after. Thus, in parallel with her sister, Antonia was no longer welcome at her home and living in exile, resisting the Nazis. After an assassination attempt was made on Adolf Hitler's life in 1944, Rupprecht and his son Heinrich went underground in Italy, separating from the rest of the family. Rupprecht and the family were quickly designated as opponents to the Nazi regime, and hunted down. The Nazis employed the use of Sippenhaft, the notion of kin liability and that a whole family is liable for the actions of one of the family members, to go after the Wittenbachs. Rupprecht may have been in hiding, but Adolf Hitler personally ordered the arrest of Antonia and her children. The Gestapo managed to capture Rupprecht's son from his first marriage in addition to Antonia and her three youngest daughters in northern Italy on 27 July 1944. Although accounts vary, it is generally believed that Antonia contracted typhus and was left at a hospital in Innsbruck, whilst her daughters were transported to the Sachsenhausen-Oranienburg concentration camp north of Berlin. Princess Irmingard, the eldest daughter of the couple, was captured separately near Lake Garda and brought to the same hospital as her mother. The two were eventually deemed 'well enough' to be transported to Sachsenhausen, although they were separated near Weimar. Generally, the historical consensus is that the family was moved first to Flossenbürg, then Dachau, as the Soviets advanced through eastern Germany. However, one source maintains that Antonia was held at Buchenwald concentration camp and cruelly tortured there. The obituary for Princess Irmingard also reports that her mother was found at a hospital in Jena in April 1945, which is 30 kilometres from Buchenwald. It has been difficult to ascertain the truth of this, but the internment in concentration camps had its toll on Crown Princess Antonia. When found in the hospital, she weighed less than 40 kilograms. The war had its toll on Antonia even in the after-war years. Prince Félix [Charlotte's husband], her brother-in-law, escorted her back to Luxembourg where she was reunited with her sister to recover, and her children joined in May 1945.”

As the eldrich being that is @legogeek33 rebloged my post about turning my non-ninjago ocs into ninjago ones, I am forced to comply. I used this picrew because I’m too tired to draw right now.
Tumblr media
Hope Calighan - Dragon Kin - 22 - She/Her
When the First Spinjitzu Master fled the realm, both dragon and Oni followed in his wake. As Oni began to settle amongst humans, so too did the dragons, though unlike their enemy, they could not shapeshift.
Instead, they (in true fantasy fashion) bore children with the few humans willing to fall in love with them. Thus, the dragon kin were born; strong, fierce, and resembling both their human and dragon parents.
Dragon kin tend to live in mountainous villages far from human civilization, as they know they would not be accepted by the common folk. They are solemn creatures that share traits with the element they hail from. Some are able to conceal their draconic features well enough to live amongst humans. Most, however, spend their lives in the sky.
Hope is descended from a lightning dragon, but has the passion and recklessness of a fire dragon kin. She is quick on her feet and as strong as an ox, which makes her a fearful opponent for whatever dares threaten her home.
She is adorned with cultural decorations from her clan: colorfully dyed hair streaks and beautiful rings that stack around her horns with each battle won.
Tumblr media
Griffin Mage - Newsboy - 16 - He/Him
He’s a simple kid working for the newspaper for the same reasons as Antonia and Nelson: to help spread the news and thus, protect the citizens of Ninjago. He’s got a heart of gold, scraped knees, and fondness for climbing tall things he probably shouldn’t be climbing. The bandages are from all of the close calls with villains (and also falling from said tall things, but don’t tell Antonia he said that- she’ll think she’s got another Nelson on her hands).
Tumblr media
Jasmine Grace - Vigilante - 19 - She/Her
By day, Jasmine is just a regular old citizen and a big sister figure to Griffin. She plays a few sports- namely rollerblading and boxing, and easily comes out on top with a goofy grin on her face.
By night, she is known as the Rising Star- and name bestowed on her by the tabloids after a man’s description of her made the news.
When the ninja are away or simply overwhelmed, Jasmine works to pick up the slack with her trusty whip in hand. Bad people flood the streets when the city’s resident heroes aren’t there to watch them, so it’s up to her and Samurai X to protect Ninjago city in their absence.
Tumblr media
Clyde Doberman - Baker - 20 - He/him
In Shintaro, there’s a small bakery in the middle of the city that you can smell from miles away. It’s known for having the best cakes and warmest bread all around, and it’s run by Clyde and his mother!
Clyde isn’t one for attention, but after mama…well, just knowing his mom is happy with her flourishing bakery/bookstore that she started with her late wife is enough for him. (He doesn’t know how to break the news that he’s considering going into art instead.)
Tumblr media
Nadia Winters - Theorist - 17 - She/they
Running on energy drinks and spite alone, Nadia is a popular social media figure and blog writer known for producing theories on including but not limited to:
The Ninja’s powers and motivations
Ghosts
Lloyd’s age
Lloyd’s powers
Just Lloyd in general
If the White Ninja is actually an android.
If Cyrus Borg is actually an Android
Ghosts
Who is Samurai X
The floating islands that seem to have appeared out of thin air
Ghosts
And more!
(The ninja laugh when she posts a video theory claiming that Samurai X is none other than infamous noodle chain owner Skylar Chen, then proceed to cheer when she estimates Lloyd’s real age once and for all.)
Tumblr media
Logan Cato - Borg Mechanic - 25 - He/him
Some call him a prodigy. Others call him a danger to society. The rest back away in fear when they see him pull out the blow torch.
Logan works as a mechanical/alchemical engineer at Borg labs and specializes in combining Elemental and mechanical materials. He’s eccentric and excitable and many tests of larger projects end in smoke alarms going off or a block wide power outage.
One of those explosions costed him an arm and a leg. He’s got a simple prosthetic leg and will make jokes about it his brother, Percy.
Tumblr media
Emile Rose - Dragon Kin - 28 - He/Him
Like Hope, Emile is descended from the dragons, though instead of Lightning, he is both a Fire and Amber legacy.
Emile is a respected figure within their community for his therapeutical and medical prowess, as well as his simple down-to-earth, kind, and forgiving nature, which is rare for someone with fire in their blood. In fact, one could say he’s a leader, though he would deny it if asked. He’s simply helping where he can!
He is covered with less expensive decorations than Hope, preferring to wear the things that are given to him out of love by he people he holds dear. That doesn’t mean people don’t put gold trinkets around his horns, though.

Film Marvels zachycuje životní osudy fiktivních i reálných postav umělců, kteří se setkali, tvořili a díky umění přežívali v nelehkých podmínkách válečného ghetta Terezín.

Master Post
Caution: This is a VERY long post...
- - - - -
So to begin this story, we need to do a crash course on ancient Atlantis. As we all know, Lucifer was kicked out of Heaven for being too prideful. He maintains that he left of his own accord, but in reality Adonai asked him to leave and do some soul searching. He did not have to go to Hell...but he did. Lucifer's arrival in Hell greatly confused the 4 emperors, but they accepted it... mostly because Lucifer was a wild card and they were legitimately concerned about him. Lucifer did what anyone would do in this situation: He got salty as flip. He was going to get back at Heaven for not understanding him, but how? Then it hit him: He would take a group of humans and push them in the right direction!
After careful consideration, he picked out two humans in the form of Askr and Embla. These two were a couple selected by the Aesir to contribute to humanity when the time came and Lucifer planned to give them some help. The only issue was that Lucifer needed a fall guy... and then he found out that Satan had just been booted from Heaven. Lucifer ran the plan by Satan (not the fall guy part), but Satan was hesitant... Then Lucifer informed that he could potentially become a famous figure if everything went according to plan. Satan thought about it and decided to go along with it. Little did he know how things would actually turn out...
Satan was sent to Earth where he would meet with Askr and Embla as a random beggar with a pet snake. He was wandering and needed a place to stay for the night. After being given hospitality, the beggar thanked Askr and Embla by imparting them knowledge. Using an Apple as teaching aid, he taught the two all sorts of wild and forbidden knowledge. He revealed the existence of Heaven and Hell, taught them about different dimensions, showed them what magic was, told of the Unlight and the powerful organizations that inhabited it, and shared some vague details about the far-flung future. The next day, the beggar departed and Askr and Embla bid him farewell.
They then got to work as they had a brilliant idea: They would create a land where they could teach people about what they had learned and had been learning. Lucifer sat back in glee as he watched his two new prodigies get to work. Humanity could advance if they were just told the right things, something Lucifer had always sworn by. With their building knowledge, the chosen two had begun building a grand, floating city above the pacific ocean. This would come to be known as Atlantis and everyone who was willing to learn was welcome. As the city grew and prospered, Lucifer uncorked some wine and celebrated his success... or so he thought.
Atlantis was thriving as technology advanced and the residents became wiser and wiser. In fact, many other groups of humans considered the Atlanteans to be gods and goddesses. It honestly was not too far off from the 21st century, despite predating ancient Egypt. Some among the Atlanteans had advanced so far that they transcended the third dimension and became fourth dimensional. These would be referred to as the Spiritus Magni and would become to be known as the Goddesses of Atlantis. For some reason they were all female... Regardless, this caught the attention of Heaven who had quickly realized this was Lucifer's doing. Why? Simple... it was exactly what he had been proposing right before he had left Heaven... They needed to act quickly, but discreetly. If they sent an archangel, Lucifer would catch it immediately. And then Adonai had an idea: The Aesir.
Adonai sent an up and coming Angel, Raguel, to Asgard to request the help of Odin and his kin. The Aesir were definitely up in arms over what Lucifer had done to Askr and Embla. Since Loki had recently gotten in trouble for his antics, Odin sent him to Atlantis. Together with his son Fenrir, they set out to... let's just say whisper into the ears of the wrong people. The idea was to collapse Atlantis and force it to move off world... wait a second, how did we get here? Well you see, Adonai is a greater Archangel well above the flow of time. Normally he would have brainstormed, but he felt a sense of urgency and peaked ahead into the flow of time. Plus Sophia thought the idea was perfect and what the wife says goes in this instance. She figured she would watch over whatever planet Atlantis moved to, just like how Adonai was with Earth.
Octavia had transcended to Spiritus Magni just before the conflict that would come to be known as The Great Cataclysm. She was a capable Goddess of War, Science, the Occult, and Astronomy. She had noticed that Atlantis was different now. People were complacent, science was growing stagnant, and corruption was rampant. Hell, people were even starting to abandon the Spiritus Magni, with fewer and fewer followers showing up to the temples to worship.
Something was not right and she knew someone was to blame, but who? It was then she noticed a cloaked man running around with a wolf pup. Wherever he went, chaos ensued. Octavia tried to warn the other Spiritus Magni, but no one took her seriously given how new she was. One did listen to her, however. Drusa (Goddess of Combat, Death, Deceit, and Horror) knew who Octavia was talking about. Unfortunately no one trusted her due to her domains.
Instead of wasting their time, they sought out three nobles: Ra, Anubis, and Osiris. These three would begin preparing for the impending disaster and would save as many as they could. And then it happened. An atrocity where an entire district was wiped out sparked a civil war. Atlantis would be at war with itself for ten long years. In that time, Octavia and Drusa lead their forces against the corruption that had been plaguing Atlantis. Ra, Anubis, Osiris repeatedly clashed with Set, Sobek, and the serpent Apophis, three nobles who had sided with the corrupt Spiritus Magni, Fausta (Goddess of Pride, Decadence, Riches, and Glory). The conflict as a whole left Atlantis in shambles and there was no salvaging it... unless something drastic was done. The Spiritus Magni decided to move Atlantis to another planet in such a way that would wipe out the corrupt and the wicked.
As the sky darkened that day, Octavia and Drusa bid farewell to their followers. They would move into shelters while Ra, Anubis, and Osiris set off for new lands. The two goddesses watched as a horrific cyclone and immense proportions surrounded Atlantis and shook the land. The storm roared and fired bolt after bolt of lighting. Those caught in the maelstrom were annihilated as the island began lifting into the air. Shockwaves assaulted the surrounding ocean, causing great waves to form and move outward. With one last shockwave, Atlantis vanished with the loudest crack of thunder possible.
Octavia wept given that her land of birth had fallen and just disappeared. With a hug from Drusa, she dried her tears and vowed to keep moving forward. Loki had been observing from afar and felt great sorrow for the goddess. Once Octavia and Drusa had departed to parts unknown, Loki and Fenrir would create a monument in memory of Atlantis and scatter tomes and scrolls across the world that sang the praises and accomplishments of the fallen land.
From this point onward, Octavia and Drusa would become wandering deities. They would pop in and out of various pantheons as outsiders. Not much happened until Rome popped up... It was remarkably similar to Atlantis, just not as advanced. And then Octavia eventually witnessed its fall. She had hope only to have it completely dashed. At this point she realized it was probably better to let humanity duke it out until only the wisest and strongest remained. Then people like her would step in to guide the survivors to bigger and better things.
Octavia and Drusa would run into each over the ages. They each had a part in keeping humanity on the right track, amongst others. The advent of the common era had rendered her a bit cynical, just a little bit. She was not as perky and upbeat as she once was. This would change once she met two wanderers: Ellen and Abezithibod. Octavia saw Ellen's goal in life and immediately took a liking to her. In fact she now considers her her daughter and a dignified heir to the Spiritus Magni legacy. Octavia would also get the chance to meet Valentina Pari, a fallen angel who was always cooking up something in her head. Given Val's interests and Octavia's domains, the two quickly became friends.
Drusa reentered the scene not too long after as she was worried about Octavia. She was going to make Octavia go out and make some friends, but was relieved when she saw who Octavia was hanging out with. And finally, Octavia would meet her best friend, Aoife Crawford. After hearing a call for help, Octavia bolted to it... only to end up in The Unlight. Just who would be calling out to her from the void itself? Well it was a powerful mage who was in the clutches of an amorphous monstrosity. Just as Aoife was about to be swallowed by the beast, a wicked skeletal snake plunged into the creature, killing it on the spot. Aoife naturally thanked the goddess and was about to go on her way, but Octavia stopped her and asked who she was... she then followed her back to her guild... and then the two became best friends. Much like Valentina before her, Aoife was very interested in the domains Octavia ruled over (astronomy in particular). This would introduce Octavia to the ULTRAMagic guild.
Currently Octavia is bouncing back and forth between her temple (that changes locations), Arcane-Life's main headquarters (Ellen), The ULTRAMagic guild, and the Pari family land.
Octavia was always the upbeat, perky type. This was even before her ascension to Spiritus Magni. She was a dedicated scholar who studied the subjects she would gain domain over. She also had a habit of getting tunnel vision when she really got studying, focusing on her goal rather than what was going on around her. This led her to being somewhat of a loner despite her charm and good looks. She was always pushing towards something, but she did not know what. And then one day, a cloaked woman led her into a temple where something changed in her. Octavia now understood the third and fourth dimensions. And thus, Spiritus Magni Octavia was born. This led to her realizing she now had a duty, and that was to guide and teach.
Constantly looking out for Loki made her very observant... maybe a little too observant at times though. She has a tendency to see issues where there are none. Of course, the years eons after the collapse of Atlantis made her cynical and jaded. Thankfully that went away once she started making friends in the common era. Still, she is diligent and refuses to be tricked. She also now has a mentality of "no matter what, I win in the end" due to her game plan in case humanity does something stupid. No matter what happens to her or Earth, she loves humanity and believes it can achieve great things... if it would just focus for two gosh darn seconds!!!
Oh, right... Aberrant magic. So you see, Magic is divided into 6 categories (Soul, Aura, Necromancy, Alchemy, Void, and Weave). Aberrant in the unofficial 7th category that describes magic that doesn't traditionally fit into the main 6 categories. Octavia's magic is peak Aberrant magic. What can she do? Well all of her spells take on a dark, macabre appearance. Skulls, skeletons, and visages of death. She has a tendency to summon entities that were abandoned by the flow of time, never meant to exist.
Adding insult to injury, her spells have no rhyme or reason to us. They take from all categories of magic. Some even combine multiple types of magic that should not be combined. This can be chalked up to Octavia's 4th dimensional status. Mastery over this dimension allows her to access magic and things we could not even begin to comprehend. The limit of her magic seems to be incomprehensible to third dimensionals, requiring knowledge of higher dimensions to understand.
Before we end this, how about a little trivia?
Drusa may or may not have had influence in a lot of events in relation to Octavia and her life...
No one knows what happened to Fausta. There are rumors of worship in the criminal underground, particularly in northern Europe. Intel suggests her worship has shifted over to Pleasure, Hedonism, Desire, and Corruption.
Despite all the turmoil, Atlantis survived. It was moved over to a planet called Neo Terra. It occupies the same spot as Earth, on that opposite side of the galaxy.
The other Spiritus Magni will check up on Old Earth from time to time.
Rome is very similar to Atlantis. The Atlantean language shares a lot of similarities to Latin.
Octavia was one of the more risqué deities. It was often joked that one of her domains was attractiveness. No, she is not naked.
- - - - -
- - In regards to Drusa - -
Drusa was one of the earlier Spiritus Magni. Initially she was a loner who kept to herself. She was widely regarded as strange given her interest in death and the afterlife. She also had a habit of tricking people for fun, leading her to have a shaky reputation. This did not improve when she ascended to Spiritus Magni. She held the domains of Combat, Death, Deceit, and Horror. Naturally she became the punching bag of the pantheon. It was not from the other goddesses, it was from the people of Atlantis. People tend to refuse to accept death and end up hating it. It was annoying, but she could tolerate it as she had a handful of followers that loved her for who she was. What she could not tolerate was Spiritus Magni Fausta (Pride, Decadence, Riches, and Glory) constantly picking on her. Fausta was that goddess... the one who thought they were all that and then some. It also did not help that Fausta was popular amongst the nobles of Atlantis. In fact, they nearly got Drusa's worship banned until the leader of Atlantis at the time declared that a violation of Atlantean rights. Drusa thanked the leader profusely and gave him her blessing. Yes, he is still around to this day believe it or not.
From that point onwards, Drusa held to the notion that Fausta was a powder keg just waiting to go off. Something bad was going to happen if she wasn't reined in. She repeatedly went to Spiritus Magni Vita (Leadership, Fire, Knowledge, and Life), <i>but Vita was always like "Don't worry, I'll take care of it..."</i> Since Drusa was the least popular and focused on Spiritus Magni, she decided to do some behind the scenes work. With her dedicated followers in tow, she snooped around Atlantis and made note of what she could. Things were a mess... Corruption, arrogance, and complacency were starting to infect Atlantis from top to bottom. She was aware of glaring issues way before Loki had shown up.
What was her plan? Acting upon the advice of Spiritus Magni Antonia (Foresight, Truth, Patience, and Water), Drusa would: Find a scholar who was on her way to becoming a Spiritus Magni, help said scholar become one, and have a friend and ally when things finally hit the fan. Drusa mostly just wanted a friend, however. And thus she began mentoring Octavia.
- - The Atlantean Civil War - -
Jumping ahead to the Atlantean civil war, Drusa naturally had to rub it into Vita's face that she was right. Octavia and Drusa got to work fighting against Fausta and her forces. Drusa took the opportunity to reference media from the 21st century (thanks to her journey's to a realm known as the Unlight) that not a single Atlantean was going to get. She did not care as that was the point, which made it funny when the enemy soldiers had to stop to think about the reference... Drusa's forces got a lot of unexpected wins. As the war raged on, Octavia and Drusa fought in campaigns all across Atlantis. They were unstoppable at first, but the conflict did begin to wear on them. They were on the ropes three quarters of the way through the war as they held their ground in Northern Atlantis. Just as things seemed dire, A new Spiritus Magni led her army into battle, coming to the aid of the embattled goddesses.
Spiritus Magni Athena was formerly a tactician under the command of Vita. She had been making great progress in becoming a Spiritus Magni, but she was on the fence as she would have to give up her humanity. What made her make up her mind was seeing how the war was going. She had had enough of seeing her homeland ravaged and planned to end the war, one way or another. Before riding off into battle, she would be seen off by the Angel of Destruction, Hemah. He had been observing the conflict and wanted to give Athena his blessing for how bold and brave she was being. He also brought her a special horse to ride into the fight: Brimstone. Brimstone was originally in the running to be a horse of the horsemen of the apocalypse, but was not selected. Regardless, he was itching to see some action. Drusa and Octavia would be alerted to a Spiritus Magni joining the battle, but who? All the ones on their side were preoccupied. Imagine their surprise when they saw Vita's lead tactician charge full speed into the enemies' armies.
With Athena's help, Drusa and Octavia could turn the tide of the war. They immediately went for Central Atlantis, planning to take it back from Fausta. They stormed the city and went straight for Fausta. After a couple weeks of fighting, the enemy forces were on the ropes. Word got to the other Spiritus Magni and they all stormed in from Easter, Southern, and Western Atlantis. After another week of fighting, the war was over. Sadly Atlantis was beyond saving in its current state... There was one option, however. Fausta and her ilk had fled, leaving the fools who thought they could fight off the Spiritus Magni. Fearing Fausta's return, Vita initiated the removal of Atlantis from Earth to be moved to another planet. Octavia, Drusa, and Athena would watch in silent sorrow as their home was pulled into a wicked vortex and vanished. After getting their tears out, the three would say their goodbyes and go their separate ways.
- - Long after Atlantis - -
Drusa wandered the Earth, wanting to see more of the planet she called home. She wandered and wandered... and would occasionally cross paths with Octavia. Someone she had not seen for sometime was Athena, however. She found out what Athena had been up to and found herself in ancient Greece. What had Athena been up to? She had been dealing with the Olympians... The Olympians were the descendants of the Nephilim, the offspring of humans and angels from the Mt. Hermon incident that Heaven had to deal with eons prior. Athena was scared Zeus and Hera would cause another Atlantis incident, so she threw herself into the fray. She was a wreck when Drusa found her. On the cusp of losing her mind, Drusa offered to hang around and help Athena out. It was so bad that all of Greece thought Athena was an Olympian. Thankfully Drusa came at the right time as the Trojan war was about to start.
Rome wasn't much better, but both Drusa and Octavia convinced Athena to take a hands off approach with Rome. Athena was definitely feeling a lot better after that. Rome did fall, but it convinced Athena that no matter how bad things got, humanity would bounce back. Plus the Olympians were finally calming down and/or retiring.
At some point in the 21st century, Drusa would pay a visit to the Unlight to see what was happening, if anything. A strange man would bump into her, going by the name of Captain Roger. Naturally he challenged her to a fight... Drusa was unfazed and kept batting him away. Roger eventually gave up and fell to the ground, tired and worn out. Drusa was definitely impressed with the tenacity of the swordsman. Naturally the goddess had to know who this goofy hooligan was. Roger introduced himself, feeling oddly open to this strange goddess. His swords were of particular interest as they reeked of death. Roger would hesitantly explain that his curved swords were possessed by the souls of his dead siblings. There had been a disastrous encounter a long time ago and he refused to say goodbye to his family. He would cast a ritual that would bind their souls to his blades. It made the blades indestructible...at the consequence of giving the swords minds of their own, obviously.
This was truly fascinating to Drusa. Roger displayed no standard magic capability, but bonds that strong could easily fuel weave magic. Since he was all alone, Drusa declared she would mentor him and accept him as one of her followers. Roger was confused, but figured it was best to go alone with it since Drusa had effortlessly shrugged off his attacks. Drusa would then contact a particular weave mage by the name of Ember Gabriella O'Nessie. She just so happened to be in the Unlight and wasn't too particularly bust at the moment.
- - About Drusa - -
As stated above, Drusa is weird. She's studious, but prefers the subjects many reject. She's a trickster, but a good natured trickster. Despite her foreboding aura, she is incredibly friendly and positive. She knows the cycle of life and death, so she sees no reason to be negative. If things go south and you find yourself at the bottom of the hill, the only place to go is up. And if you think there's a level below rock bottom, you haven't actually reached the bottom yet. Drusa likes to play the long game and will often strive towards pulling as many strings as she can. She is very patient and calculating when she needs to be. As for her quirks, she's awkward and weird. Even when she was a human she was like this. She says weird things, hovers over your shoulder for no reason, and tends to stare endlessly from time to time. She was always different and no one could explain why. As if she couldn't get any weirder, she's never expressed sadness or despair. She can feel these emotions, but she has never once expressed them. Drusa is a mystery that her friends and followers have just learned to accept. When in doubt, just go with the flow.
Drusa hides her face because she claims it will drive anyone who sees it insane... her face is most likely normal. She just likes to mess with people.
As for magic, it's weird... she knows how to manipulate Cause & Effect. How much is unclear, but she is not one to mess with. Even higher entities are leery around here as Cause & Effect is a very powerful force. As an aside, she recently achieved 5th dimensional status. When she did that is unclear, but she pulled it off regardless. Rumor has it she is going to shoot for 6th dimensional next.

Further Reading: Drusa Goddess of Death
- - - - -
The Spiritus Magni are my own, original pantheon of deities I came up with for ULTRAMagic Alternate. Drusa is the most noteworthy goddess and the one I plan to focus on. And if you couldn't tell, we will be branching out into Greek, Egyptian, and Norse mythology.
Note that I am having issues on how the goddesses are supposed to appear. I recently drew Drusa again, but I have no idea how to do the texture of her body. Metallic effects are annoying.
Sorry for how long that was. This really should have been it's own story...

Between the Shadow and the Soul
Chapter 17
Tw: mentions a past s*icide attempt and vague anxiety attack
Tumblr media
If Tommy thought her family would be cool and cultured, he was only partially in correct.
The Rileys were rich, loud and educated, the Smiths well to do, but just as boisterous and while some acted like they were la crème de la crème most of the bridal party fit almost perfectly with the groom’s party.
The Rileys were eccentric old money even if it had been Patrick Riley of the San Patricios who had worked his ass off to inject his wealth to the impoverished Old Money Arambula-Moctezuma family and been the trusted friends of three presidents until his retirement from the army thirty, or forty years ago.
Profanity could be heard, parents trying to stop their teenage children from asking about cocaine could be seen and the question ‘does the bride know her husband is a criminal?’ was answered with a knowing look.
Tia Olivia arrived with her red hair a shade brighter than two years ago, but kept her mouth shut even when the Lee girl next to her asked if she dyed her hair. Tia Livia was her godmother and the reason she had a very privileged lifestyle in Mexico City. Had it not been for the de Souza name she could have gone to school with the daughters of politicians, business men and other assorted high society assholes in Spain, but got her into Mexico's best school at the last minute.
Tia Mimi, Tiago’s mother, Minerva, glares daggers at Nayeli who is practically on Michael’s lap; Tio Pato, Francisco’s dad, chats amiably with the Ambassador; Antonia looks at her like they never stopped being friends and Alejandra is standing tall and proud with her men’s uniform, Riley red hair and dark brown eyes that have seen more shit than Ada has in her lifetime.
It's all going fine, but Tommy is worried. Not about the wedding, but about something else.
“Everything will be fine, amor, even Tia Olivia is having fun.” She assures him while he helps her into a dress more suited for the party.
There is a pit in her stomach and a grip on her heart, but she shakes it away as she pretends everything is fine. Can’t have both of them be weak at the same time.
“You’re scared, aren’t you?” she asks him, already familiar with his moods. He worries about the little things as he tries to ignore what’s really bothering him. Its adorable, even when he’s concerned Esme’s cousin or aunts will steal the magnificent painting by Diego Rivera on the foyer.
“What gave it away?” he asks sarcastically, and if Eva didn’t have nearly four years with him, she would actually feel hurt by his words. He sits on her vanity chair, turned to face the bed because at some point this morning her grandmother needed a break while the rest of her female kin got her into her stupid wedding dress.
She comes to sit on his lap and takes her face in her hands. “I know you better than anyone, Thomas Shelby. You always get like this when you are truly afraid of something. Is it the Russian or John and the others provoking the Changrettas?” both will cause them problems, but the Italians won’t be an issue if Angel Changretta doesn’t die.
Tommy brings his forehead to hers, both of them wishing they didn’t have to go back downstairs. She likes his smell, the expensive cologne he has made his trademark, the tobacco and Irish whiskey that get more prominent when he’s stressed.
Reminds her of the early days, when they lived in Small Heath and had none of this excess and wealth she grew up with. Even if she doesn’t mind a return to the luxury lifestyle, she finds herself missing the simplicity of Small Heath. Her hands hardly shook there, here they shake about every six months.
“Both actually, one or the other is going to put you and Charlie in danger and I couldn’t live with myself if anything happened to either of you.” he confides in her. Trust and honesty like that is so rare and Eva feels luckier than the fucking queen of England for having that with her husband. He may be hardened mobster, but he was the best man she's ever known.
“I’m not dying, neither is Charlie. We will have three daughters after him, and we’ll grow old and die with an army of grandchildren who can’t do shit for themselves.” her fingers trace his jaw wanting to kiss him like they don’t have a house full of guests waiting for them.
And she does, because Eva needs to kill her feelings of doom and gloom before they get to her.
The kiss is sweet and tender, but there is that passion and desperation that has them hiking up her skirt as she straddles him. Eva wished they could have postponed this conversation, she knows how it always ends, but fuck it, they could have an early wedding night. Last time they had a proper wedding night, but this time getting a head start will stop her from losing her shit in public.
Tommy will no doubt end up with blood on him and feel guilt over being who he is even if she knows what she married into, she will be a nervous wreck and Charlie will no doubt want to sleep with them again because her boy knows when his mama isn’t okay.
“I’ll kill you if you make me lose my figure just as soon as I got it back, Thomas Michael Shelby.”
Tumblr media
---
Once they stopped with the pretense of being respectable people and get the real party started, the fun begins.
Some relatives look at with displeasure, but others are just glad the masks are off.
Linda sits with her aunts being regaled with stories about Mexico and the America’s, the Ambassador’s wife is angry that her husband has joined in on the bets, Nayeli is dangerously close to getting tied to a chair by her father, and Tommy is ‘taking care of some last-minute business but will be back soon’.
There's a slight tremor on her hands, has been there since Tommy left. It's not noticeable, but it will be soon enough.
“He’s killing him now, isn’t he?” Polly asks as Eva helps herself to the rum spiked punch. “The Soviet who came here.”
Her trigger wasn’t the killing part, her trigger was keeping everyone placated and happy and unaware of the Russian man who will die soon. She hates it, but she loves Tommy and Eva would stab her own thigh to prove it.
But she hates this part. She hates that she has to keep the party going and keep everyone busy from hearing the screams, the bullets or whatever happens when the men take care of someone who has to die.
In 1917 and 1918 she had to pretend everything was fine. Her brothers were traitors, and no one could suspect her of having rebel sympathies. She wasn’t allowed to wear black; she wasn’t allowed to grieve and that fucked her up more than her three years at the front.
Eva was twenty-one then, having buried her family, having held men and women as they died in her arms, killed her fair share of people and stared death in the eyes and walked away from the light.
But her soldier’s heart made it damn impossible to keep up the façade of the rich girl who thinks nothing about war and politics. Always smiling, always laughing and dancing and keeping people unaware of what was happening underneath their noses and on the outside of the enclosed valley the capital is in.
It gets to people, you know. It got to her in January of 1919 when she tried to throw herself off a balcony at the national palace and was pulled away by Antonia. Her hands shook, her lungs felt constricted and all she wanted to do was leave the world the same way she came in: crying and screaming. Instead she cried and screamed in Toña’s arms.
But Antonia didn’t want a crazy woman and Paris, so Eva left two months later after she took a sabbatical in her beloved and haunted house in Veracruz.
“No, not yet, but it won’t be long, and hopefully no one will get blood on their clothes. Fucking hate getting blood off Tommy’s shirts.” Eva complains and keeps her real complaint a secret.
“Never thought you were the type of woman to complain about laundry while your husband kills a man.” Polly chuckles darkly. “Have the maids do the washing, isn’t that why you have so many of them?”
She only took care of the laundry when it was capable of looking good as new after she was done with it. If it was unsalvageable, it was getting burnt in a fire so it does not end up in the hands of a police officer.
“What and let one of them get scared and go to the police? Besides, I have too much time on my hands these days. I don’t know how Tia Livia can stand it.” Eva smiles at her aunt sitting like the finest lady in the planet and talking about how much she misses the hacienda in Veracruz. “They’ll start the business tonight.”
Someone is coming their way and its best if they don’t talk about it.
“Anyways, I think the punch needs a bit more rum.” Eva downs a second glass and smiles when she sees Tommy coming their way. At twenty-eight she needed something stronger than spiked punch.
“Dance with me, Eva?” he asks her as if they hadn’t danced at all. But this was the unspoken cue to let everyone know the business with the Russians has begun.
They weren’t these people they pretended to be. She couldn’t be the harmless socialite who runs the Shelby Family Foundation. Eva Shelby was a businesswoman, a witch and a career criminal who helped her husband rise in both the world of commerce and the underworld.
“Johnny Dogs will be getting rid of the body, and I wore a coat so the there won’t any blood spilled on my suit.” he tells her, his breath still cold from being outside.
“Promise me you won’t make me throw another big party, Tom.” her hands still shake, and Eva hopes no one has noticed her tremors. Only a select few knew why her hands shook, and those people knew she hated pity. “I can help you hide the bodies, run the businesses, have another baby even when I don’t want to, but I just can’t tonight.”
“I’m sorry, Evie. I need you to be strong for me for another hour.” his hand is tight on hers and she wants to do nothing more than to leave him there. It’s never enough, he knows her limits, knows her triggers and yet he asks her to act fine and pretend she likes the charade they are playing.
“I can’t, Tommy. Not tonight.” she is close to hysterics now. Eva hates it and she wishes she could get the feeling of inescapable doom to lift its heavy weight on her chest.
“I promise you, love, I won’t make you do this again. We’ll slip away upstairs after this dance and then this night will be over. I promise.” He says, holding her tight and she believes him.
--
Notes:
First things first, if you caught what Eva is referencing to with “stab her own thigh to prove it” kudos, if you don’t let me explain.
According to historical accounts and Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar, Brutus and Portia had such a great relationship that she was his confidant and he treated her like an equal. Portia at some point during the conspiracy to assassinate Julius Caesar, gets worried that her husband isn’t trusting her like before because of misogyny. In order to prove that she can handle his secrets, she cuts a gash on her thigh with a knife from a barber surgeon and comes back to her husband after fighting off a resulting infection to tell him she isn’t weak. He promises to tell her everything, they don’t get the chance and later on when he dies in a battle after the assassination, she kills herself by swallowing coals. That is disputed ,but Brutus and Portia remain my fave Roman couple because they actually had a good relationship (sans the part where she was his cousin).
Moving on. Eva has PTSD just as Tommy and the Shelbys have. She is this close to having a panic attack in public from the stress of keeping everyone from realizing some soviet spy is getting murdered under their noses. This is something she has experience on, she had to do very often as a spy infiltrating the Mexican elite.

Matilda of Tuscany - Mighty in war
Matilda of Tuscany (c.1046-1115) was born to Beatrice of Lorraine, also a military commander in her own right, and Boniface of Tuscany. By 1052, two years after her father’s death, Matilda was her mother’s only surviving child. Beatrice remarried, but she her and new husband were kin to a prohibited degree and decided to stay chaste.
Matilda’s first experience of battle came in 1067 when she accompanied her stepfather on a military campaign. Though her exact role in the operation isn’t described, Bonizo of Sutri calls this the “first service” that she offered to the papacy, something that suggests direct participation.
Around 1069, Matilda married her stepbrother, Godfrey the Hunchback, to whom she was still related to a degree forbidden by Canon Law. Matilda had a daughter who died shortly after her birth. She separated from her husband in 1071 and never saw him again. Matilda afterward refused to take the Communion, as if she felt sinful, and the pope had to urge her to take the sacrament again. Perhaps Matilda saw her wedding as a transgression and resented her mother for the choice that led to this situation.
She began ruling in 1072 when she issued a joint charter with her mother. Beatrice died in 1076 and Matilda would become the papacy’s most stalwart defender. There was indeed a conflict at that time between Pope Gregory VII and Henry IV (then king and later Holy Roman Emperor) over the right to appoint bishops, abbots and the pope himself. This power struggle marked the beginning of the Investiture controversy. The tensions ultimately culminated in the excommunication of Henry IV and his opponents asked for the election of a new king.
Matilda actively mediated between the two. She escorted the pope as he went to meet with Henry and housed him in her fortress of Canossa. Henry crossed the Alps and stood before Canossa barefoot in the snow for three days, asking for absolution. The pope finally had to comply. This episode shows Matilda as a key diplomatic player and negotiator.
This was by no means the end of the conflict. In 1080, Henry was excommunicated again and intended to depose the pope. Matilda stood in his way. A battle took place on October 15,1080 between Henry’s Italian supporters and Matilda’s troops. Matilda was defeated.
She didn’t give up. Matilda gathered Henry’s opponents and held to her strongholds. Since he couldn’t bring her to battle, the king tried to prevent her from supplying her armies, but to no avail.
Then, Matilda managed to turn the tide. On July 2,1084, at Sorbara, her troops surprised and crushed an army of Henry’s supporters. Her biographer Donizone wrote that: “the renowned Matilda was a terror to them all”. She then busied herself with recovering her lost positions, supported Gregory’s successor, Pope Victor III and tried to establish him in Rome in 1087. At that time, she also backed a successful campaign against the Muslim trading city of Mahdia in North Africa.
Though it’s certain that Matilda was a military commander in her own right and  was fully in charge, did she actively participate in the battles? According to tradition, she led her armies from the front, standing on her stirrups as she brandished her father’s sword. Some other elements could indicate her presence on the field.
First of all, there are many references to Matilda as a “soldier” or a “warrior” such as “the most prudent leader and most faithful warrior of St Peter”. Matilda was also said to be “fighting manfully”. The fact that she was called “daughter of St Peter” after her “first service” in 1067 is extremely eloquent. Indeed, this epithet was given to those who “who lent their swords to the cause of the papacy”, who fought physically for the church.
Bishop Alselm of Luca furthermore recounts that Matilda “prepared not only to sacrifice all earthly considerations for the sake of defending righteousness but also to struggle even to the shedding of her own blood to bring about your confusion and for the sake of reverence for the glory and exaltation of holy Church, until the Lord delivers His enemy into the hands of a woman”. This could indicate that Matilda was either wounded or was in danger of being wounded during the battles. Two sets of armor were sold in the marketplace of Regio 1622 and their shape was allegedly different from men’s armor. Those sets were said to have belonged to Matilda.
In 1089, Pope Urban II settled in Rome with his own troops. He arranged a marriage between Matilda and 17 years old Welf of Bavaria to secure a strategic alliance. In autumn 1091, Matilda sent 1,000 soldiers against Henry, but her troops were defeated. It’s important to note that Matilda wasn’t present during this engagement.
In 1092, Henry moved against Canossa, hoping to deal a fatal blow to Matilda. She withdrew with her forces to one of her other castles. While Henry’s army was stuck in the fog, Matilda’s troops attacked and captured his standard. She kept harassing Henry during his retreat, preventing him from regrouping or resupplying his troops.
This defeat marked the end of the support of the Italian nobles for Henry. He attempted a last military action at the siege of Nogara in 1095, but failed. The same year, Matilda escorted the pope as a went to France to preach the First crusade. The consequences of the Investiture controversy didn’t end with Henry’s defeat. Matilda was still militarily active in 1114, a year before her death, when she crushed a revolt in Mantua. When her troops approached the city with their siege engines, Mantua immediately surrendered.
Matilda’s life can be summed up by this quote by a priest who was with her in 1084: “Although she was most religious and devout in private, in the world she openly led the life of a soldier”.

“...Nevertheless, in the face of this popular ideal of female domesticity, and in the face of these prevailing constraints on female public activity, some Roman women of the upper classes proved formidable, politically influential figures in the late republic and early empire— Cicero's and Tacitus' own times. It is with such women, and the paradoxical nature of their formidability and political influence, that those who study women in the classical Roman elite chiefly concern themselves. Ancient sources report that several women from Rome's leading houses wielded substantial clout during the forties B.C., a decade rife with civil war and political turmoil.
They encourage modern scholars to accord special attention to such females as Marcus Brutus' mother Servilia and Mark Antony's wife Fulvia, who are portrayed by classical authors as staging summit conferences, commanding armies, implementing political proscriptions, and thereby controlling men's affairs. Tacitus and Suetonius vividly document the powerful roles played by shrewd and redoubtable female kin in the reigns of Rome's Julio-Claudian emperors; their accounts have attracted, and deserve, no less notice. Ancient sources, moreover, regard politically powerful women as a time-honored element of Rome's heritage.
Both the historian Livy, writing in the final quarter of the first century B.C., and the biographer Plutarch, a century and a half later, give serious consideration to a legend which credits a woman, the nymph Egeria, with advising Rome's second king, Numa Pompilius, on weighty matters of state: their assumptions about Rome in the eighth century B.C., may well derive from their observations of Roman politics in later, historical, eras. Perhaps more importantly, even upper-class Roman women who did not possess special political influence nor concern themselves deeply with the workings of Roman government seem to have been perceived by politically experienced and aware Roman males as disturbances and even threats to Roman political order.
Accounts summarizing an oration delivered in the early second century B.C. by the elder Cato serve as a case in point: in this oration, Cato is said to have justified the prohibition against young boys' attending the Roman senate as protecting young boys, and the senate, against the rapidly mobilized forces of their inquisitive and gossipy mothers. Livy, moreover, attributes to the elder Cato a speech expressing outrage at a group of wellborn women who demonstrated against inequitable legislation restricting their personal adornment. This rendition of Cato's supposed remarks characterizes these women as not merely riotous but actually in the process of overthrowing male rule.
By Livy's time, however, other men had joined Cato in regarding women with the most minimal political involvements as nonetheless capable of having considerable political impact. Sallust, writing in the decade before Livy launched his lengthy history and in the years immediately following his own retirement from political life, assigned a character sketch of the aristocratic matron Sempronia a featured place when chronicling the Catilinarian conspiracy of 63 B.C. Yet it is clear from all of our evidence, much of it supplied by Sallust himself, that Sempronia played no part in the conspiracy whatever and was at most deemed a possible influence on various men.
By the first century, apprehensions about the political potential of women altogether removed from public life had become more commonplace. During the emperor Nero's reign of terror in the early sixties A.D., the female relations of his male victims routinely suffered persecution at Nero's hands. Even Nero's adoptive half-sister Claudia Antonia, whom Tacitus pointedly depicts as a quiet and unassertive woman, appears to have met her death because Nero harbored political suspicions about her. Indeed, the assumption that women, especially those of high birth, were instrumental in affecting the course of Roman republican and imperial politics manifests itself frequently and strongly enough in our ancient Roman male sources to render it impossible for scholars today to distinguish clearly between women's actual influence and women's imagined influence in political matters.
Whatever the true extent of Roman women's political involvement, it is indisputable that the political impact attributed to certain of them reflects a general image of Roman women as socially significant and often highly visible individuals. Such an image of course differs radically from that of well-born women in the society to which later republican and early imperial Rome is sometimes likened, that of fifth century B.C. Athens. "Citizen women" of the classical Athenian era barely figure in accounts of political history and are not represented as integrally involved in male social concerns; their social invisibility has created difficulties for generations of scholars merely interested in determining their social status.
In the light of scholars' readiness to note Roman women's paradoxical, real and imagined, political influence and social significance during classical times and to acknowledge Roman women's structurally central, and hence influential and significant, position within the elite family, one might therefore expect scholarship to connect this familial structural centrality and this paradoxical formidability with one another. At the very least one would expect a strong scholarly interest in the dynamics of Roman women's involvement in the politically influential, socially significant, upper-class family itself. Yet the behavior thought appropriate to and the behavior actually evinced by women in their various roles within the elite Roman family—of mother, sister, wife, daughter—are only beginning to undergo examination; the same holds true for the patterns of bonding with and among female family members.
Even in recent investigations into these matters, Anglo-American scholars have not made much of an effort to consider the relationship between the paradox of Roman women and women's conduct in their role, or roles, within the upper-class Roman family. This lack of effort need not, however, be ascribed to scholarly obtuseness. For generations a theory of Roman social development based on the views of the nineteenth century jurist Bachofen and his followers has been invoked, largely in European studies, to account for the paradox of Roman women. This theory pointedly assumes an impact of early Roman family structure and sentiment on women's position in much later elite Roman society.
The theory and its explanation for the paradox of Roman women deserve special scrutiny and detailed refutation for two reasons. Most obviously, its understandable failure to convince most Anglo-American scholars may help elucidate the failure of recent studies to link upper-class Roman women's familial position to their social significance and political influence. More importantly, its shortcomings make clear various problems to be encountered in seeking to relate the paradox of Roman women to their structural centrality in the elite family of classical times.”

Film Marvels zachycuje životní osudy fiktivních i reálných postav umělců, kteří se setkali, tvořili a díky umění přežívali v nelehkých podmínkách válečného ghetta Terezín.

I've been wondering for a while now, do Az & Zira still call AJ "Anthony" when she's a woman or do they call her something else?
“Antonia” is the easiest option of course. but i kind of like “Azalea”... i think she’ll go with that one. (or “Crowley” cause to be fair it’s still her name too)
Tumblr media
i think it’d be nice if they kept in touch! Az and Crow wouldn’t understand, not only because they didn’t really like their Warlock, but also because they weren’t the ones to take care of him XD they’re not really children people, they’ll just smile from afar haha.
Tumblr media
oh yes, they absolutely get on each other’s nerves. especially since they’re soul kin, they just have a sense of the perfect types of things to irritate each other. the stars is a good one XD and Crow gets rankled when he can literally /feel/ that AJ is memeing at him, but he’s not really familiar with memes the way AJ is.
