Eddie and Steve's first fight as a couple was completely ridiculous. Robin walked into the kitchen, exasperated, to break them up. The fight that is, not their relationship.
Eddie: *turning to Robin* Look, if cavemen and astronauts got into a fight, who would win?
Robin: You've been yelling at each other for 40 minutes about this? . . . Do the astronauts have weapons?
Steve: No.

You know... the Buffy/Angel crossover book "Cursed" sheds a lot of light on what the Fanged Four's interactions were like (if you choose to see it as canon).
For instance, it seems like Angelus actually stopped having a relationship with Drusilla after she sired Spike (and they got together), and was over her at that point. There's actually this one scene where she's coming onto him, trying to make Spike jealous (because Dru and Spike aren't together at that moment, I guess, and they have quite a few lovers' spats in their history, it seems), and he actually gets really irritated about it. Like, Angelus and Darla are having a moment and then Dru buts her head in and says, "I remember when I used to be your love bird." And then Angelus replies, "That was a long time ago, Dru."
Angelus and Darla then start having a conversation about Drusilla after she's left: something along the lines of Angelus telling Darla. "I know she amuses you, but..." And then Darla tells Angelus, "She amuses you, too. You just can't see it right now." And then he goes, "Right now she's annoying me."
So it sounds like it got to a point where Darla liked Drusilla more than Angelus did!
And damn, if that doesn't tell me the whole Angelus/Drusilla thing in season two wasn't just an act on Angelus' part, then, to try and upset Buffy!
Also, Angelus and Spike don't hate each other at all... Well, I guess I should say they're love-hate. There are definitely some moments where they want to kill each other, it's true. But there are other ones, where they get along so well and work together marvelously (and where Angelus was really impressed with Spike, and vice versa). Which I kind of figured, tbh. Because otherwise Spike wouldn't have been glad to have Angelus back into the fold at first in season two. And also because, if these two truly hated each other with nothing else there, they would have actually killed each other long ago.
This book makes it seem like Spike (when they were getting along) was actually Angelus' second favorite person in the Fanged Four, not Drusilla. o_0 ...Which is kind of unfair, since he's the one who made her crazy and all. Sheesh.
I also did feel some Spangel in this novel. Not gonna lie.
There was also a part where, in the present, Spike thought of Angel as "Angelus". And I sort of thought that that was just a fanfiction thing: because in the show and comics and stuff, ever since Angelus changed his name to Angel, he calls him Angel. But here in this novel at least, we see him think of Angel as Angelus once post-name change (which does make sense, of course). So I can definitely buy into him thinking of him that way sometimes now.

forever will be so funny to me that buffy introduces their whole lore of vampires as literally soulless, unable to feel genuine human emotions, "a demon sets up shop in your body and it looks like you and it has your memories but it's not you", and then they introduce spike and drusilla and its like. well clearly all that wasn't fucking true.

thinking about the difference between melodramatic, moody angel telling buffy he wishes he could see her in direct sunlight vs. spike just straight up scurrying around Sunnydale with a blanket over his head whenever he gets bored and wants to see buffy during the day

rewatching Fool For Love and that one cut from Drusilla and Spike to Angel made me laugh so much because it reminded me of this post

like here we have spike and drusilla at their hottest. utterly unhinged, covered in blood. they are at peak vampire eroticism and the sheer sexual chemistry they ooze into the atmosphere could kill the population of a small country. and then it cuts to

So, sadly I can't find the exact quote again (because I can't remember if I read it in book two or three and I'm not re-reading all the Dru sections again to find out).
But there was a section in the Angel Chronicles books where Drusilla was surprisingly thinking how she thought that Spike had actually missed Angelus more than she had:
Something about how there actually had been a brotherly bond between the two of them, and Spike had liked to hunt with Angelus and stuff and had tried so very hard to be like him.
And this shocked me... well, moreover the part where Dru was thinking that she thought that Spike had actually missed Angelus more than she had. o_0 Even though Spike probably wouldn't show it, of course.
Then there was this other part, that a lot of fans have guessed, about how Spike ended up resenting Angelus for leaving him and Dru (did Darla not tell them why he had to because of his soul? And how she threatened him and made him leave? Probably not). And how he was then left to sort of be Drusilla's caretaker all by his lonesome. And make no mistake, Spike loves Dru, of course, but navigating her insanity and tantrums and all that all by himself probably would be difficult. And that's kind of what he's thinking in the scene.
