#and where is that tumblr tags comma when I need it?
Text
.
#So I'm putting all this in tags because I'd prefer it not get out into wider Tumblr. I pondered even posting it but I think some of y'all#are following the drama and/or praying for my family so I figured I'd post an update. Just pretend there are commas and it's all readable.#Got a hearing date today. February 6th. Now I need to get affidavits and medical records. Not much to do in the way of affidavits because#either he made sure no one saw anything or I made sure. (Shame is a heckuva thing.) I really need the medical records from the assault.#Can't get them because I am currently without ID. I am currently without ID because I have had a beginner's permit for ~10 years now and#those have to be renewed in-person every year. Can't get to DMV to get it renewed because... no car. Can't use Uber because you have to#provide your own car seats and where am I going to put three car seats while I'm at the DMV? Can't use bus because... bus lines.#...it's stressful.#Also I'm still not sure about the theology of all this but it's also impossible not to see the Hand of God in freeing me and the boys from#this man so either God will help me work out the theology of it later or I'll ask Him when I get to Heaven.#Practically speaking I will not ever permit him and the boys unsupervised contact again if I can help it because he WILL neglect them#at best and physically hurt them for his own amusement and/or beat them up because of his temper at worst.#...anyway any and all prayers are appreciated.

People on here love to post vines and say "tiktok can't do this 😏" and then none of the vines are even funny anymore
#a lot of them i think it's just a matter of. yeah i laughed at that when i was 15 but it's really not funny enough to still get that now#but honestly a number were never particularly funny to begin with I was never sure why they were in every compilation#the number of vines that actually stand the test of time is really quite few#much of the humor is very dated now and frankly a six second joke can only be seen so many times#you all oversaturated them#also I'm not sure why there's loyalty to vine from the same people who hate tiktok. it was very similar and had a LOT of the same problems#like the thing people seem to complain about the most of tiktok. where it sucks you in and ruins your attention span watching for hours#and it's weird affect on culture which you all need to stop pretending was a purely good one#there were a lot of clout addled people on there people filming strangers putting their young kids faces online looks over content etc#there should be commas in there but you all know we can't use commas in Tumblr tags#whatever you can reply to this like 'well tiktok is worse cause' I'm not really interested in which is worse#right now I'm asking why is vine held up as an ideal a source of pure positive nostalgia while tiktok is hated for things vine did first#it's very 'get off my lawn' of some of you. MY brain-rotting app was good actually unlike those damn kids#anyway stop reblogging that compilation that starts with the Annie are you okay vine I'm sick of it it was never that funny

Hello there, thanks for stumbling across my blog!
(Here's a lil comic I made for a school assignment)
I'm going to start putting my social energy levels in my bio... There's a lot of stuff I want to respond to but i currently dont have the energy to do so, and so if I don't respond within like a day, check my bio and see that... I always feel bad about being on tumblr when theres things people have sent me but responding to those things is a different level of interaction than reblogging a post... so yeah... Sorry to the people i havent responded to yet! I will soon <333 (writing this on low energy, sorry for the incoherence)
Who am I / Where else can you find me?
First of all, feel free to call me Eli!! I'm on the waiting list for an autism diagnosis. I am agender and aroace-spec.
I am verrryyy enthusiastic about the things I am interested in (hence the URL hehehe). And currently, those are: podcasts (theres a list at the bottom of the post), good omens, ofmd, bbc merlin, star trek!!!!, lotr, and probably more things that I am too tired to think of right now!
I am a very big fan of the oxford comma and double brackets. Semicolons are pretty cool too. And ellipses are incredible.
i love all of my mutuals dearly!! Making cookies and hot chocolate for you all <33
I try to use tone tags as much as possible!
Boundaries:
Things I am okay with sharing/doing:
My age, gender/sexuality, things about my guinea pigs!!, and most other things
Things I am not okay with sharing/doing:
The city I live in, pictures of me/anyone I know, my full name, my birthdate, my phone number/email address, meeting up with people irl, sending/receiving money/gifts, dms (<- though if we're mutuals and interacted a lot dms are fine!!)
^ this applies to everyone im not in the discord with
I will let someone know if they cross boundaries, and *really* would like other people to let me know if I cross theirs!!
DNI: people who are here to spread hate and anger. Just, stay away. I dont engage in discourse. I know DNIs dont deterr these people, but this is a demonstration of my core values :)
Updated to clarify - I do block the generic tags such as Israel and Gaza, which most of the posts are tagged with by the op, so if you forget its no big deal!!
Tags:
(At the top cause otherwise it will get lost) ALSO #tw body horror
I block quite a few tags but most notably #tw war and other ones to do with the war in israel/palestine. This is not because I don't care. I care so so so much about what is happening and I cry every time I see a post about it. It breaks my heart that such horrible things are happening. However, I really struggle with high empathy, and seeing a post about it can really affect me for a while, and I need tumblr to be a safe space away from the real world problems. If I follow you - please could you tag things to do with war. Thank you <3
A list of all the podcasts I listen to because y'know, its fun:
Fiction:
The Amelia Project
Wooden Overcoats
The Adventure Zone
Sherlock & Co
Alba Salix
Unseen
And a whole lot more that i no longer listen to either because they havent updated or they are a little too creepy (Welcome to Night Vale falls into the latter category)
Science:
The Sci Guys
Lets Learn Everything
Lingthusiasm
A podcast of unnecessary detail.
Comedy/other:
Dear Hank and John
The Unmade Podcast
Books Unbound
Lateral
A book list of recommendations from mutuals for my own use:
abigail by Magda Szasbo (@mack-anthology-mp3)
The Alphabet of Candice Phee (@jamie-dinow)
A list of music reccomendations from mutuals:
in the lap of the gods revisited by queen, why can't i be you by the cure, pyramid song, and lucky & the tourist by radiohead, when the sun hits by slowdive, dancing barefoot by patti smith, tangerine by led zeppelin, autumn sweater by yo la tengo, rubber ring by the smiths, water by pj harvey (from @/mack-anthology-mp3)
imi hendrix’s all along the watchtower (from @/catholickedd)

With Starlight In Their Wake
So I know I've mentioned it in the tags a few times and maybe off-handedly in a post but I am, in fact, rewriting my Doctor Who longfic With Starlight in Their Wake. I know a lot of my followers turned up for Miraculous Ladybug but for those of you who've been here since my WSITW/Doctor Who days...hello. ;3
WSITW Redeux will begin with The Runaway Bride and continue from there.
Here are some answers to questions I know old fans of the fic will have:
Why?
I'd like to continue the WSITW verse but I'm 29 now and a LOT has changed for me. I started writing this fic when I was 18, undiagnosed for everything, and quite naive about interpersonal relationships beyond my own limited scope. I also had an incorrect understanding of certain concepts and aspects which were fundamental to events within the story. If I'm going to continue this series, I need to get it up to my current standards.
What about the original story?
It will remain entirely untouched save for title and description modifications to indicate to those who find it that there is a revamp.
Where will it be published?
AO3, FFnet, Tumblr. I'm not going to revisit Teaspoon simply because their moderators enforced certain punctuation requirements that I'm not a fan of. Back then, for teenage me, it was useful. 29 year old me does not need to be told where to put her commas and periods thank you very much. Is it a complete rewrite?
No. A lot of the original material remains intact! I am using the original text wherever possible and making modifications to grammar, descriptions, stabilizing POV, and reworking how certain events play out. Some things have been cut entirely, some things have been written fresh.
So, some episode events proceed more or less the same as the did in the original. However others have been entirely overhauled, the most significant of which so far has been The Shakespeare Code. It is almost unrecognizable compared to the original and it's wholly for the better. I am excited to share it.
If you have any additional questions you can DM me. ^^

Since Twitter seems to be flocking over here I’ve decided to post the Twitter thread I posted on here to help the small lost birb children navigate this app.
So this is a thread on how Tumblr works!!
Tumblr media
First off, download Tumblr and create a Tumblr account with an email/phone number.
Tumblr media
Once created, your page will appear like this. More plain and generic than mine, but this is the view of it on a phone.
The top of your screen there is three options, basically the equivalent of a timeline on Twitter.
- Following is the TL for accounts you follow (self-explanatory)
- For you is a mix of tags you interact with often/Tumblr recommends
- Your tags is posts from tags you follow.
“What is a tag? How do you follow one?”
A tag is just a normal hashtag you add onto a post. If you search a tag as shown below (no need to add the #), you can find it on the Your tags TL.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This feature is very good for when you don’t want to interact with content you dont like!
“How do you write posts?”
Click the blue pen button on the bottom right if your screen. When you’re done creating a post, just click the Post button. You can edit your posts btw (for free). There are many features that help you customise your post:
- “Add tags” is for #’s. Make a new tag by doing a comma or just doing the return button.
-The letters allows you to tweak the size/typography of your blog.
-GIF and images are self explanatory
- The headphones allow you to add audio to your posts.
- Check list button is for polls
- The next feature can be called the “page break” feature. When you add this feature to a post, whatever you put after it will not be shown and can only be seen if you click the “Keep Reading” button picture like shown below.
Tumblr media
It’s very helpful for long blogs (as Tumblr does not have a character limit) and for spoilered content you wanna post.
- the last button is how you display the post, if it’s for everyone/mature audiences.
“How do you interact with a post/account you like?”
You can forward, comment, reblog (equivalent of retweet/quote retweet) and like a blog.
The number of notes is the number of likes, comments, and reblogs with and without comments combined. Click on the notes button to read them all.
Reblogging is fairly simple, all you do is click the reblog button next to the comment button and you can add on words/images/tags etc or simply just hit the “Reblog” button.
To clarify, a reblog is just like retweeting. A reblog with “comment” on it, is a quote retweet. Yk?
When you click the notes button, you can scroll through the likes and comments, and order the comments from oldest to newest. You can also scroll through reblogs and sort them from reblogs with comments and tags, just comments, or just a normal reblog.
“How do I customise my profile?”
Tumblr media
This is your profile page. My username is wallywestwonderer, but my “title” is Cece.
A title does not have to be your name, it can be anything. A title will appear in a lighter font under your username when you like/reblog something. Not when you comment tho.
At the top of your profile you’ll see this.
Tumblr media
- Where your username is, you can switch in between accounts/blogs.
- Where the paint holder is, you can edit your profile’s layout, such as it’s pfp, background, fonts and even colours. Way more customisable than Twitter iwl.
In Settings you can edit your account, and make your whole account, likes and following private or public!
You can also see these at the bottom of your screen.
Tumblr media
Most of these are self explanatory, Home is Home page, search is search function, the middle is Tumblr Live (… don’t trust it.), speech bubble face is your inbox, shoulder bust head is profile.
Your inbox includes a notifs section you can sort out and a DMs section where you can ignore and block all of the weird bots.
“What does the Ask me Anything button do?”
That is the ask submission feature of Tumblr!! Ask submissions are basically the built curiouscat/google form. If someone has this on their account page, they have allowed anyone to ask them something and they can reply to it as a regular post!
You can click the button, ask a question, and even submit it anonymously by selecting the button at the bottom of the ask.
To activate your own asks, go to Settings and edit the two highlighted options to your liking. Ignore the Blaze thing tho it’s not relevant to the asks.
Tumblr media
Anyways, I think I’m done. There’s this great post by @lastoneout about Tumblr etiquette and it sums it up pretty well. We’re a very toxic free environment so it’s very fun and relaxing to interact with everyone, especially when it’s so easy to only see what you wanna see.
But yeah, uh follow me I need more moots and welcome to the better fandom hellscape!

The tag rambles in (the post about moth/dead!us fluttering around Foul Legacy) have given me even more random angsty ideas hehehe
Also, for a bit of size context, I personally would see us as an Atlas Moth (they're very pretty, just like everyone here <3).
"in an alternate universe Childe vanished and a sparkly moth started following you around" Ack okay but the simultaneous misery and nostalgia at getting a mini version of the big moth that we love so much. Honestly, I think that prospect would just break us, so here's a few ideas and whatnot: - Underside of the moth's wings would be sparkly, while the topside would probably be some sort of dark purple. - Antennae that look like Legacy's horns <3 <3 - Literal-moth moth would probably try to stick around our hands as much as possible - Unfortunately, we can't pet him like we could when he was mothman. Because, y'know, fragile creature and all that.
"ohhh if the moth gets hurt (because it's so easy for them to get hurt) Foul Legacy starts sobbing" - Moths can't fly again if a wing breaks, unfortunately ;-; - Frankly, I can indeed see Foul Legacy just end up sobbing at a wing of ours being broken (ooo that's a new idea, maybe I'll touch it later...) - Us, with a broken wing, crawling over and around both his claws and mask, also maybe nestling in his fur(hair)? - Uncertain if a soul moth (as I'm gonna call us) needs nutrients like a regular moth. However, if we do, then Foul Legacy may just stop by forests or something frequently in order to keep as as healthy as we can be <3

~ :D Anon (Sorry it took me so long, was busy with tests ehe)
Note: I removed the link, hopefully it'll send this time? If it does, then woop-
aaaa yeah tumblr asks can be very VERY finicky especially on anon for some reason??? once i tried to send one in and it wouldn't let me because i had too many commas, tsk tsk!!! (original ask here <33)
Foul Legacy little moth: !!!! oh my goodness imagine you're in that state where you're trying so hard to cling onto hope, trying so hard to seem fine so you don't worry your friends and family- and it seems like the little moth that started following you everywhere only helps you heal, or at least people think it should since it's a constant, comforting presence
but the moth knows the truth- it knows how you sometimes break down when you're alone in your room, no matter how happy you try to seem during the day. it knows how you cry into your hands, your sobs of "where could he be?" as you despair over your lost Abyssal monster, your missing Foul Legacy
the little moth can only perch on your fingers, fuzzy antennae waving in your face like it's trying to wipe away your tears, and despite your sadness you still find the energy to cup your friend in your hands and smile wearily- just as kind as Childe remembers
you little moth: Foul Legacy will break if his tiny moth companion gets hurt- even more so if it was by him, even on accident. his talons and armor is sharp, deadly to something so small and delicate, and he cradles the moth in his hands and weeps. the little insect flicks its antennae, almost as if it's trying to reassure him, but all he can see is the rip in the poor thing's wing
he doesn't know the moth is you, intent on keeping him company even after death- he simply knows that it feels familiar, that the creature is dear to him and someone to be treasured, for when else will a moth willingly become friends with a beast? he swears you keep you safe from now on, allowing you to snuggle into his fluff or hair, away from his claws and teeth. occasionally you'll go and perch on one of his horns, happily enjoying the breeze that you can't fly in anymore, at least not as well
on particularly peaceful days he tentatively allows you to sit on one of his claws, basking in the sun and looking awfully proud of yourself despite being a moth. you flutter your wings and he flutters his back, and Legacy can see you happily waving your antennae in the air
at those moments, Childe knows peace

I just wanted to ask how to reblog posts with additions........ like do I just reblog .... or do I put in new tags... should I type what I want to add...... and I have seen a lot of incredibly long tags but when I try to type something like that it doesn't enter in the tags......
Btw not a new user who migrated frm Twitter... it's been a yr now I think..... I just never knew where to look these things up.
Hey there!! Sorry for the late response, and thank you for coming to me with your question. I'll do my best to clarify, and I apologize if you already know some of this info. Just want to cover all my bases!
Tumblr reblogs are amazing, because in addition to the fact that they are the main thing that keeps Tumblr running, there are a variety of ways to add an "addition," and they all have different levels of visibility/meaning.
Table of contents:
Reblog with comment
Reblog with comments in the tags
Reply instead of reblogging with comments/tags
1. Reblog with comment:
This is when you reblog a post, and add something to the main body of the post. This happens when you type right after the whatever the OP put.
Reblog comments are great when: You have a comment that contributes to the post, that you think other people may want to also share when they reblog. This is because when you reblog with a comment, whenever one of your followers sees the post on their dashboard and then they decide to reblog it, your comment will be reblogged too.
This is how you see those famous Tumblr posts with multiple contributors; comments are a fantastic way for Tumblr users to collaborate. Some fantastic times to maybe add an addition: If you see an information post on your area of expertise or you have important info not mentioned by the earlier people (including perhaps correcting incorrect/misleading info!), or if it's a story/meme where other people are collaborating and you have an addition to add too! In addition to text, you can also add images, gifs, and I think now videos too.
Whatever you add should contribute to the post in some way; if it's completely off topic (such as the point of the post is to uplift asexual people, and you want to uplift a different minority), you may be better off creating your own brand new post!
Also keep in mind that all reblogs with comments essentially start their own chains. If you reblog from OP and add a comment which starts one chain, but someone else also reblogs from OP and adds a different comment, those two chains will develop independently, branching off as more users comment. It's one of the more interesting (and sometimes annoying) parts of Tumblr; the same post can have infinite different versions floating around, depending on who contributed by commenting!
2. Reblog with comments in the tags:
This is when you reblog a post and instead of putting your comments in the main body, you add them into the tags. You do this by tapping the "add tags" area.
How to tips: Tumblr tags are broken up by commas, so everything not in a comma will be one tag and you can have full sentences there within the character limit! So if I see a delicious food post, I could maybe add the tags #Food #Pie #Gosh this makes me so hungry #I once saw a pie like this at the grocery and regretted not buying #Next time I see it's mine. (please note: you can't put quotation marks in tags for some reason, so if you want to add them just use an apostrophe or double apostrophe, ''like so'')
Tag comments are great when: You have some thoughts to share, but you don't necessarily need the entirety of the internet to know about it. Such as my example above; it's a comment that's relevant to the post, it's my reaction to it, but I don't need all of Tumblr to know about my little grocery store experience! But because my Tumblr is also my personal blog where I like to share my little thoughts because I am human, the tags are a great place to put it.
While your followers will see both your comments AND tags, when they reblog a post from you, they will ONLY reblog the comments. Your tags will stay on your blog only, only visible to people who follow you personally, so it's a much more limited, intimate audience. It's kinda like you whispering your thoughts to your audience!
Please note that many creators (myself included!) often read tags because we want to know how people reacted to our work. So often times, if you have comments/compliments, the tags are a great place to put them! You can rant your heart out, and you won't be annoying anyone, and many creators will cry when they see your thoughts.
The exception to all of this, of course, is if someone sees your tags and finds them so hilarious that they screenshot/copy and then add them to as a comment to their own reblog. Because this is now a comment, it will be rebloggable. We call this "peer reviewing," because it means that someone other than you in the Tumblr community decided they want to share it! You can of course do this too, but I think it's good etiquette to always @ or credit the user you're quoting, so people can know who had the original hilarious tags!
In addition to comments, tags can and should of course also be used for your own organization/warnings, etc. Tumblr allows enough tags that you should be able to do both! Put your organization tags first, and ramble in the rest!
3. Reply instead of reblogging with comments/tags
In addition to the two options above, you may also choose to reply (use the speech bubble) option. This puts your comment in the reply part of the post, which means if anyone opens up the reply portion specifically, they can see your comment.
This is a comparatively new function, and doesn't quite have the same rich history in Tumblr as the collaborative reblog comments or tags. No one really sees the replies on their dashboards unless they intentionally look for them, so most of your followers won't see them. If OP has notifications activated, they may receive one about your reply, but it does not mean they will respond to it. You can @ people in the replies for specific responses, but again there is no guarantee that they will respond.
Replies can be useful if you need to add brief info that corrects the OP's post (may be the OP themselves!) because it has already been reblogged and spread too far to contain otherwise. Some people also hold discussions on there that are slightly more visible than on reblogs, especially if certain reblog chains are less visible than others. But keep in mind that replies do have limited visibility (and I think a character count limit too).
If you have a specific question that you want answered by OP and they'll probably need more than one short paragraph to explain, you should consider sending them an ask instead!
4. Just reblog!
The above are all ways to add your thoughts to reblogs, but of course you are in no way obligated to. Plenty of people just reblog without adding any comments at all, and no one will judge you for not saying anything! Reblogging is always appreciated by creators on Tumblr whether you add comments or not, because it's really the only way any of our content gets visibility.
So while there are all these ways to contribute and have a voice on Tumblr, please don't feel pressure that you have to!
~~
I hope this information was helpful! Again, if anyone has any general questions about how Tumblr works, whether you're a new or old user, please feel free to send me an ask! I will do my best to answer in detail!

Rules and Guidelines
SCHEDULE
1st December - Trope Voting Opens 20th December - Trope Voting Closes 1st January - Submissions Open 24th April - Submissions Close 1st May - Posting begins 1st June - Masterlist Posted
TROPE VOTING:
When trope voting is open, you can find the form here: Trope Voting Form
Only complete the form once.
The form has a starter question - whether or not you’re a writer. This means that if you have written and posted destiel fanfics, you can choose the writer option; if you just read fics, then you can choose the reader option.
From here you’ll be either taken to the list for writers or readers depending on your initial answer. Both lists are identical.
You may choose whichever tropes you like up to 31 as there are only 31 days in May.
After you have chosen, you can use the last box to let me know if there’s anything else you’d like to say. If you ask a question here, I’ll make a post on the blog answering it.
Remember that trope voting is anonymous.
SUBMISSIONS:
When Submissions are open there will be a link to the Submission Form.
It will ask you to input an email address - this is only used in order to send a copy of the completed form to you. This means that you can see which ones you’ve submitted. The next question is your Tumblr username. This is to be written in the simple format for example: ‘envydean’. Please do not give a link here or use the @ symbol.
If you do not have a Tumblr account, that is completely fine. Just write your username and whichever platform it’s used on.
Next is the title of the fic you’re submitting.
Please make sure that it has the right capitalisation that you want it to have as this will not change after submission.
The rating is based on the AO3 rating system as 99% of fics submitted are hosted on AO3.
The options are: General, Teen & Up, Mature, Explicit, No Rating
This must match the content of the fic.
You will be asked if the fic is a work in progress. This requires a simple yes, or no, answer.
You should check yes if your work is still incomplete and is being updated.
Please make sure your fic has been updated within the last month. If it hasn’t please refrain from submitting it.
Next is word count.
This figure must be the exact number and not rounded to the nearest 100 or 1000, it will be not be added to the list if so.
If it is a WIP, please put the most recent word count. I’ll check back on the most current word count, or if it has since been completed, when I post.
Please don’t add commas, the form doesn’t like it.
The tags and warnings should be the most important ones.
Tags about not using a beta, how fast it was written, etc are not needed. This makes sure that each fic submission is succinct and easy to read.
Please make sure each tag is comma separated.
It has been requested in feedback to add the relevant top/bottom!character tags where necessary.
If submitting to Season 15 Fix-its, it has been requested that authors add whether Cas is human or not in their story.
The summary should be as is posted.
If you need line breaks in it, then add those in too and I’ll do my best to make sure they come across in the final post.
The link to the fic should be a web URL to whichever story you are submitting.
If you are posting a fic that has multiple chapters, please make sure the link is to the first chapter.
Submitting a fic which is a collection of several (smaller) fics is not allowed. For instance, if your fic is a collection of flufftober fills, and only the fill for day 14 (chapter 14) fits, you cannot submit this fic or fill. They need to be posted as separate stories.
The next question is the trope your submitting to.
You can only check one trope per fic.
Use your best judgement to decide which one it should go in if it contains more than one. If you’re really indecisive, flip a coin.
You cannot put one fic into two (or more) categories.
Please only submit up to two fics per category - this has been requested via feedback for a few years.
This completes what you need for the form. If there are any further questions or enquiries, please send an ask (or IM) to the blog and I will do my best to explain, answer or confirm anything that’s needed.

In the end I guess the one I'd want to finish is this AU where Kim is married to Tommy but can't let go of Billy hehe
16. what are your writing strengths? imma say... smut. and making realistic ocs... idk lol maybe dialogue? At least I hope so I have mini conversations with myself when I'm writing out characters talking so fingers crossed lol.
17. what are your writing weaknesses? commas...i love commas... too many damn commas everywhere (but i love them). Anything involving fight scenes or angst.
18. thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I think it's fine? no real opinion I guess? I just would not try because I do not speak other languages and it makes me too anxious to trust google translate in case it's wrong lmao
19. first fandom you wrote for? One Direction omg... Zayn girlie lol.
20. favorite fic you've written? Cruel Summer for sure. Got me back into writing after a LONG pause. I'm just very happy with how it turned out too.
tags!!! (sorry i only speak to like 2 people so please if you see this and wanna do it I tag you too mwuah) @sadhours @floredaqueen @destroya-hargrove

Notes: @lumosatnight prompted this song, and my Latina ass could not stop thinking about it so I snagged it when claiming re-opened. I learned a ton writing this fic and even pushed myself to write the epilogue in the mother tongue. You don't need to be Benito's fan to enjoy this fic, but if you are, this might just be a treat for you ;)
I can't thank @lqtraintracks enough for the beta read, for always making me think critically about my writing and elevating all of my little words with their feedback. Another massive thank you to @crazybutgood for reminding me about commas and jumping in not once but TWICE with my post-submission re-writes. And another massive thanks to @amorsindolor - my Bad Bunny alma gemela. Mil gracias por tu ayuda, I can't say it enough, and at risk of being sappy AF - ha sido un placer conocerte y tener un amigo Latino en fandom!!
& thanks to the @hd-wireless mods - thank you for re-opening claiming and for putting on an awesome fest!

PIAJ 2022 Edits Changelog & Update News
The 2022 Grand PIAJ Edit is now complete. All chapters on ao3 and tumblr have been modified, supplemental material such as supplemental chapter notes has been modified, and the changelog is ready. The PIAJ master post has been updated.
PIAJ chapter 25 is complete, and will be posted 23/06/22, on my birthday.
This post will cover an overview of some noteworthy changes to the story and worldbuilding, and will then list the chapter-by-chapter changelog. You can refer to this changelog to decide whether or not you wish to reread a given chapter or scene.
Story Content
When I started the story, I considered incorporating water purification as a campcraft & survival issue to address, but decided against it because at the time I didn't think I was going to take piaj very seriously. By the time that changed, it was too late to reasonably introduce. But as long as I'm editing the whole thing, I might as well incorporate it. So, now Rayla is appropriately disturbed at drinking unclean water, and some scenes have been modified to reference this, and conversations modified to discuss it. Some worldbuilding notes have been added in relevant areas.
I made an incorrect assumption about the Banther Lodge when writing PIAJ; namely, I assumed it had taxidermy and animal trophies in it - it took closer examination for me to see that it's actually all wooden sculptures of animal trophies. Some not yet published scenes later in the story reference the presence of animal trophies in the Banther Lodge, so rather than change those scenes, I thought of something else I preferred for the setting and characters and modified the early piaj chapters accordingly.
 Grammar
I have always been fully aware that you're supposed to end dialogue with a comma if there's a dialogue tag afterwards, but it looked so profoundly wrong to me that I couldn't bear to do it. I trained myself steadily to accept it, and having now accomplished that, I've edited PIAJ accordingly. I have almost certainly missed some instances, which will likely get picked up on future edits.
 Continuity and Consistency
Ensuring I could take notes and check for continuity errors was one of the major reasons I wanted to do this in-depth editing process. I did identify a few continuity errors where late chapters had conversations that neglected to reflect the existence of similar conversations earlier in the story; these have been fixed. I have also taken comprehensive notes on a variety of topics to have easily searchable records to help me keep continuity solid in this ridiculously complex story.
Some things now being tracked: Clothing (Quantity, damage, cleanliness), Food & Rations, Supplies (Quantity & usage), Past Events (Pre-story events mentioned), Campsites (Chapters & brief descriptions), Ezran & Zym Ability, Callum Ability, Health & Injury (all relevant characters), and various subsets of all of these, as well as some misc. progression details. I've also done some in-depth mapping in my detailed Information & Espionage document.
 Worldbuilding and Nomenclature
The PIAJ worldbuilding has been developing over time, so some things needed to be tweaked and amended, and other things were amended to conform to new canon material that I thought it was worth incorporating. Here is a list, not necessarily complete, of changes that have been made.
Great Bay has been renamed to Weeping Bay to conform to canon.
PIAJ stance on elves with facial hair modified in light of Tales of Xadia elven characters with beards. A summary: elves can have facial hair, but it's as rare as for cisgender human women. It runs in families, so more prevalent in certain communities, and may be utterly unknown elsewhere. Due to association with humans, facial hair can be stigmatised in some xenophobic communities, similar to hornlessness.
Some terms in Paragonism have been changed. The High Cleric is now the ultimate religious authority in a kingdom; the Priest of Paragons is now the highest religious authority in a given settlement. Houses of Paragons are now called Halls of Paragons, except where they are large enough to be called Temples. The overarching authority of Paragonism is composed of one High Cleric from each human kingdom, and is known as the High Clergy.
Some references / details in Paragonism have been changed. While Fortune is considered a Paragon, they're a controversial one, and not widely followed. Accordingly it doesn't make sense for most people to make references to them; any of these in the text have been replaced with more appropriate Paragons. References to 'Lord' or 'Lady' on their own have also been modified; this isn't an uncommon thing for people to say, but it's generally only done by people who have an exceptionally strong faith for a specific Paragon, such as Healers for Mercy. In the absence of this, any reference to 'Lord' on its own can be assumed to be an oblique reference to Hope.
The supplemental notes for each chapter have been inspected and modified where needed. Some examples: moondust dosage now varies based on the point in the lunar cycle it is taken, the full-body dragon sign language has been updated with its name of Draconic Corpus, and details of the rare Moonshadow elf talent called 'truthfinding' have been clarified.
 Chapter-by-Chapter Changelog
Please refer to this to see where the largest changes have been.

And that’s all! Happy rereading, and I’ll see you again in a week.

hi earth! i was wondering if you possibly had any advice for anyone who wants to start a writing blog or general tips. if you’re comfortable with it, it would also be cool to know what your writing process is like! you write very well so i’m just curious. thank you for taking the time to read this and i hope you have a lovely day!
first of all, this ask was what got me out of bed in the morning to go to my laptop where i did nothing for like 2 hours.
ANYWAYS I’ve been awake for seven hours now and i still haven’t answered it LOL, but thank u for taking the time to pop into my inbox anon!! so honoured u thought of me 🤭🤭
i’m more than happy to answer any questions u may have!! i’ve only been writing here for like one and a half years but I’ll gladly share some tips for new writers <3
tips for new writers - writing on tumblr in general:
formatting and your writing style is very important!!! people most of the time will like stories that have good grammar and are easy to read, so know your punctuation- duh, i mean, most people know where to put their commas, full stops, and shit, but as even a native English speaker i still need to double check sometimes 😭😭😭
ALSO, figure out if you’re a writer who likes to write with proper punctuation or in lower case like i am rn. people on tumblr don’t care which one you opt for so it’s a matter of personal preference!!
personally, i like to use proper punctuation for longer fics with more plot, and lower case writing for normal drabbles, headcannons, etc, all up to you :3 depends on what i feel like tho, i just like the look of lower case hehe
also, you can totally write drafts on tumblr or another platform - i switch between docs and tumblr. shorter pieces on tumblr and longer pieces on Google docs !!
how to get attention on tumblr as a new writer - the importance of tags:
USE THE TAGS - DON’T BE SHY !!! USE A VARIETY !!!! it’s so easy to get reads on tumblr if you just know your tags. i also will say: be mindful of whether or not you stay in tags bc your post can suddenly just disappear- this has happened to me so many times 😭😭 to do that just search if your fic is still popping up in the ‘recent’ section of the tags AND EVERY TIME AFTER U POST SOMETHING, TAKE THE TIME TO SEARCH IF IT’S IN THE ‘RECENT’ TAGS.
(this part might make zero sense, but if it’s been a couple hours and your post still is not popping up, you can either edit it again, make no changes, and press ‘save’.)
general tips:
have an aesthetic layout.
obviously it’s not ‘essential’, but i always find myself more likely to follow blogs that are pretty or have an aesthetics
it takes so long to do but it’s so worth it 😭 if you looks at the fics that do very well, the formatting it very beautiful and pleasing to the eye.
if you’re struggling with a layout, there are so many inspos available on tumblr, just search up ‘blog inspo’ or ‘layout inspo’ and you’ll generally be pretty successful. if all else fail just go to your fav blogs and see how they set up their blog/navigation/aesthetic!!!
having a set colour for your blog can also look nice and less chaotic. for example; mine is red and it’s my (usually) go-to colour for a lot of stuff. just make sure u like the colour tho ☝️
also don’t be afraid to talk to people! AUTHORS LOVE WHEN YOU COMPLIMENT THEIR WORK!! getting mutuals is such a great feeling so PUT YOURSELF OUT THERE !!!!! MAKE FRIENDS 😮😮
my writing process:
i am that writer that likes to have a plot before i start anything, but it’s never complete. normally when i’m going abt my day, i suddenly think of a piece of dialogue or scenario that makes me go ‘hold on. let me write that down’.
for example, recently i thought of a piece of dialogue for an angst fic (that i don’t know if i’ll use) that goes:
‘no i’m not upset that you forgot about our anniversary, in fact, i already predicted you would.’
another idea i had was: you don’t ever want to leave nagi seishiro hungry.
sometimes I get these ideas when i’m in bed like bro 😐 let me rest…
if i feel inspired enough to continue said ideas, i do, but i never force the fic from happening bc then it’ll be mediocre and just… okay. not something i want on my blog 😭
but then i decide the wordlength, how many scenes i want to be in there. for example, my mistletoe todoroki fic i set out for 4k and met my goal. but my itoshi rin Xmas fic only met around 1k when my goal was 2k - sometimes this happens and i cant be mad if i think the story is done there.
it’s never that organised though, if you look at my drafts, it’s a scrabble of words. i jump from scene to scene with big gaps in between that i need to fill in later 😭 but that’s just how i write LOL ! you may be totally different from me which is a-okay :3
then i grind til the fic is done, reread then bam 💪 ! do my usual formatting on tumblr, tags, and then you’ll see the final result!! easier said than done bc when you want to be done with a fic and just post it, you then need to do all the actual presentation of the fic 😭😭😭
anyways yeah, that’s my process summarised lol!! hope it helped u get a little bit of an idea for what the earthtooz blog grind looks like 🫡
so yeah, i think that’s all i rly need to say!! if you wanna follow my advice or not, up to u, but once again, thank u for popping in my inbox anon and asking me!! gave me something to do whilst on my walk 🤭
cant wait to see what you write, always feel free to come back and ask if you need some ‘extra help’, but i believe in you! good luck and have fun writing, and i hope to see u in the tags someday :D

there's probably like a million others out there already, but since im seeing a lot of my friends hop on tumblr due to the twitter situation i figured i'd give this a go. so, welcome to
panko's guide to tumblr!
i've been using this site for almost a year now, so i suppose i'm at least somewhat qualified to do this. i mainly just want to do this for fun honestly. i think lots of people have covered more of the setup and what to expect from tumblr as a whole so i think i'll focus on more of the usage of this site, because it's definitely much different from twitter, and, in my opinion, FAR better, plus that's the thing people seem to be the most confused about. so, here we go!
Post Features
the first thing you may notice is that tumblr has no character limit on posts! if you want to post a 10,000 word essay on the motives of your favorite character from the video game or tv show you're super into right now, nobody's stopping you. already so much more convenient than making threads on twitter.
there's a variety of options you can use to make your text more visually interesting, add emphasis, and/or organize your post! when you highlight text (at least on browser, i dont use the app), these options will appear above what you highlighted. you can make your text bold, italicized, bigger (on a new line), smaller, crossed out, or even colored! under the drop-down list there are other options too such as cursive text and lists. you can also add hyperlinks to text if you want. (this is all in the rich text editor, you can also switch to HTML or Markdown by going to your post settings.)
you can also add plenty of other media to posts! you can add up to 30 images which you can arrange however you please, although from my experience arranging images is kinda clunky, but still way better than twitter lol. you can also add gifs, videos (one per post), audio files (10 per post), and embed links. you can also add a cutoff line where everything under that line is hidden under a "read more" button, which is very useful for longer posts.
when you make a post, there is a space to add a title, but it's not required. most people don't add titles unless it helps with formatting.
you can also schedule a post to be posted at a certain time, queue posts to be posted on a consistent schedule, change who can reblog a post, and even save posts as drafts if you want/need to come back to them later.
Tags
Under every post you make/reblog, there is an option to add tags. these are in their own section under the post itself. you can add as many as you want afaik, but they can only be so many characters long. on tumblr, tags have multiple uses.
you can add tags that correspond to your post such as the topic or fandom (and characters/people involved), or whether it's art or photography, for example, to try to help get your post out there. it's preferred and just better in general to only add tags that are relevant to your post. don't tag character fanart as sports or food or pop music, but ESPECIALLY not an unrelated fandom.
you can also use tags to organize your blog and make it easier to find specific posts. you can tag your own art as "my art" and art you reblog from friends as "friends' art", and even create your own tags for specific topics you frequently post about, such as your oc world or a fandom fic or au you have. i personally don't use tags for organization much, but i do have my own tags for the two oc worlds i have. (you can do this even if you're not a fandom-goer or artist, these just serve as an example bc im both lol)
you can even use tags to add extra comments to a post. lord knows i do this a lot myself. lots of people will use tags to sort of ramble off-handedly under a post when it's not the main content of said post. this is especially common under reblogs - more on that later. since you can add spaces within tags, writing full sentences in the tags is easy and a very common practice. just be careful when using commas; adding a comma starts a new tag.
Notes
similarly to how twitter has likes, retweets and comments, tumblr has likes, reblogs and replies. however, these are all combined into one sum of notes. all notes on a post are compiled under the source post. by clicking on the number of notes under a post, you can see a list of all replies, likes and reblogs on a post, if you're curious like me.
on tumblr, likes act as more of a bookmarking tool. you can look at a list of all the posts you liked, and you can have this list displayed on your blog if you want, but likes do NOT increase the visibility of a post. if you want to help a post gain traction, you need to reblog it. if you don't want that post on your blog, but you want to let the person know that you've seen and enjoyed their post, you can leave a like as a small but kind gesture if you want. if you were playing minecraft, liking a post would be akin to punching a mob, but reblogging would be like using a sword. it may not necessarily be a powerful diamond sword, but it does more than a one-damage punch. i should also mention - you can only like a post once; if you like a reblog of a post, you like the source post and can't like separate reblogs of the post.
reblogs are the core of tumblr's functionality. this site does not have an algorithm, so reblogs are the only way for posts to circulate. it's probably pretty easy to figure out, but reblogs put another person's post on your own blog and on your followers' feeds. this is likely the biggest difference between tumblr and twitter: you can reblog a post as many times as you want, and you can add on to a post directly by reblogging, which is much different from a quote-tweet on twitter. also different from quote-tweets, all notes on reblogs are notes contributed to the source post. in a reblog, you can add a comment either in normal text or in the tags, and you can add images and gifs as well. it's common courtesy to put comments that don't contribute to the post in the tags, such as saying you think a post is funny. lots of famous tumblr posts are chains of reblogs - unlike on twitter where you can only retweet one tweet/reply at a time, you can reblog these reblog chains. you can also add the tags of the person you reblogged from to your own reblog if you want, though usually people just say "prev" if they liked the previous reblogger's tags.
replies are a convenient way to have a conversation under a post without repeatedly reblogging. although convenient, replies are limited in what you can do with them. they're text-only and have a character cap. but they're still a good way to add a quick comment to a post if you don't want it on your blog. you can also reply directly to a person in the notes of a post by mentioning them in your reply. replies can be deleted from a post or be turned off for a post entirely by the original poster.
I think that's about all you need to know to get started posting and reblogging, but please feel free to add on if i did happen to forget anything. thanks for reading and happy tumbling! :D

Solaris reviews Mrs. Perivale and the Blue Fire Crystal, by Dash Hoffman (2017)
Oh hey, my first time doing a review of a book in a post where I haven't posted excerpts from it first! In that case, let's start off with a bit of a summary, shall we?
Summary: You know that tumblr post that says that you'd expect more prophecies to focus on old ladies, and someone said they'd love to read a book about a little old lady saving the world with her cats and a devoted orderly? Well, Dash Hoffman turned that post into a book. Mrs Perivale is an elderly widow who goes to the land of Corevé with her seven cats and her butler to save the world. On the way, the cats start talking, she meets a dragon and a small race called the Inklings, and she discovers she always had the power to make a difference, even when she felt like her age might prevent that.
Content: It's not bad, but not stellar. The plot is a fairly standard portal fantasy fetch quest, with really very little work needing to be done by any of the characters, where they face only very simple obstacles. There were no great mysteries, shocking twists, or deep struggles. Don't take that to be very negative, though: I think the book achieved what it set out to do fairly well.
Who I think would like it: Honestly, this book was quite light, and so theoretically would appeal to a wide audience. Young teens or young adults would probably like it best. This book would be nice if you want something you can easily pick up and put down as needed. If I was still in school and was trying to fit in some reading around exam season, this would be something I'd turn to.
Things it does well: I did like Corevé, as well as Chippa Mari. Mrs Perivale was nice, too. The worldbuilding was simple, but the places they visited were imaginative and nice. I found the book a very light read, so I was able to turn my brain off and enjoy it with a cup of tea. I liked the description of Chippa, a very small creature only about a foot tall - there was a charming sentence early on where it's said he "spoke in a tender voice not much bigger than he was", and the way his speech was written was very distinct, making it immediately clear he was speaking without having to look for dialogue tags. There's also a good segment where the characters have to deal head-on with their insecurities and weaknesses, which I thought was handled well.
Things that could be improved: To be perfectly honest, I wasn't much a fan of the talking cats, because at that point they stopped sounding or acting like cats, but after a chapter I adjusted to it and was able to proceed just fine with the rest of the book.
This book was self-published, and it shows. Much of the prose could use tightening up, and Hoffman's grammar needs a fair bit of work. Sentences were easily comprehensible, but there are references to "wooded forests", the author confused "claw" with "foot" a few times (resulting in the rather bizarre sentence "[the dragon] had three forward toes and one rear toe on each claw"), every semi-colon should have been a comma (save for two that were used correctly), dialogue and accompanying tags were punctuated incorrectly (dialogue in quotation marks should generally not end with a period, and the ensuing tag should not start with a capital letter), and there was a chapter towards the end that had a lot of scene and perspective changes with no accompanying text break to clearly mark them. Note to aspiring authors: you always need an editor. Your friend reading over your work is not a substitute for a proper editor, even if your friend got really good marks in English class in high school. If you think you don't need an editor, you definitely need an editor.
Generally, though, the grammar isn't a big enough issue. If it sounds like your type of story, go ahead!
My review: Going in, I expected this book to be a lot more humorous than it actually was. Instead, it set out to tell a more sincere story of realising your self-worth and how you can contribute regardless of your age - old or young. I found the story a bit simple, but as I said, that did contribute towards making the book a fairly light read. This is a very safe book, with very little content likely to trigger anyone, which makes it good bedtime reading and good for younger audiences as well. I found this to be, quite honestly, a fairly middle-of-the-road book: not amazing, not terrible; my life isn't hugely improved by having read it, but nor did I feel like I wasted my time on it. I'm glad I read it once, and I think other people would enjoy it as well.
Does this book have…: ✅= yes ❓= not sure ⭕= possibly/mixed ❌= no
Romance? ❌
Sex? ❌
Racism? ❓ ⭕ One of the cats, Tao, is a Siamese who falls into a few mild Wise Asian Mentor stereotypes. She's regularly described as "meditative", and speaks in a philosophical way that's highly reminiscent of how a white person would try and write a wise East Asian person. Her ideal paradise is a Zen garden where she can meditate in peace. It's more stereotypical and overdone than anything else, and given how bad The Great Zoo of China was (review here) I might be reading too much into it. Note that I'm white. An East Asian reader might feel differently about Tao's portrayal, and may consider it more or less racist than I. This was my impression of it, but do not take this as authoritative.
Sexism? ❌
LGBTQIA-phobia? ❌
Ableism? ❌ I would actually argue the book goes a bit too far in the opposite direction - Mrs Perivale is seventy-three, but moves as spryly as a woman fifty years her junior, and apparently has no issues with her hearing or sight. Some references are made to her taking medication, but she goes without them for perhaps a day or more with no ill effects, nor does she have any issues after walking for days on end across rough terrain. Having her struggle a bit more would have added to the immersion and helped her arc feel more satisfying when it concluded.
Swearing? ❌
Drug/Alcohol references? ❌ There are a couple references to Mrs Perivale's "medications", but no mention as to what the medications actually are, and her taking them gets only a passing reference when it happens.
References to or actual violence or suicide? ❌
References to or actual animal death or cruelty? ✅ There's one animal death and some injury in the book, and references to fantasy creatures being killed and cruelly captured. For the most part, these are quite minor.
Recommended: Yes

Answer the questions and tag five fanfiction authors you know!
Thank you @metalbvcky. NPT for @mrs-illyrian-baby @doasyoudesireandlive @km-ffluv @labella420
🍓 How did you get into writing fanfiction?
As a teen I was a voracious reader and tried to write my own stuff based on other books I'd read. I also loved ST:TNG and wanted dearly to be in an episode and had lots of the books. I wrote my own ST stories with OC's (gratuitous self inserts), but they never went anywhere. In my late teens I read some Xena fanfic on the internet. But that was it for a great number of years.
At the beginning of 2021 I sat and watched the entirety of the MCU films in chronological order (I'd seen most of them before and was mainly a Thor gal.) I fell down the Stucky rabbithole. Deep. I decided to look up fanfic. AO3 was now a thing! I wrote (a very poor) Stucky fic and here we are, almost 3 years later
🍇How many fandoms have you written in?
As my ST stuff never made it further than my parent's old PC in the days of dial-up, I won't count it.
I've written for MCU, various Chris Evans and Seb Stan Characters and one fic for RWRB. I've been toying with writing a one-off Criminal Minds fic as a gift for a friend.
🍈How many years have you been writing fanfiction?
Three in July since I first published anything on AO3.
🍎Do you read or write more fanfiction?
I try to balance it out. If I have a period of hyperfocus writing I try to then go through a period of reading. I read on both Tumblr and AO3, so try to keep that even as well.
🍌What is one way you've improved as a writer?
Getting betas to pick me up on tense changes, overuse of words and rogue commas. Reading more. Practising. Writing outlines for longer stories so I don't go off-piste.
🍑Do you have any bad habits as a writer?
Getting bored half-way through a long fic, especially if the first few parts haven't had a lot of interaction. Which is why I try to write the whole thing before I start posting.
🍍 What's the weirdest topic you researched for a writing project?
Engineering courses at MIT and, for a separate fic, Violet wands, including the ways to use them and the differnt types of accessories you can use with them. I even watched a Youtube video.
🍉What's your favourite type of comment to receive on your work?
Any comment! Anything that gives me the validation I need!
Tumblr media
🍐What's the most fringe trope/topic you write about?
I wrote a transformation into Tsum-tsum fic that was both cracky and smutty. That's pretty niche.
🥭What is the hardest type of story for you to write?
Action scenes. I loathe them. I'm constantly wondering if they are long enough, and make sense.
🍏What is the easiest type?
Short things that are either PWP or fluffy slices of life.
🍑Where do you do your writing? What platform? When?
Mainly on my elderly laptop on G-Docs, and in every moment I can - normally afterwork before dinner and on Mondays when I don't have work.
🍋What is something you've been too nervous/intimidated to write, but would love to write one day?
There are a few characters and ships I haven't written that I'd like to. And I suppose I'd like to write a proper long, over 100k fic at some point.
🍇 what made you choose your username?
When I made my AO3 account I felt as though that at 40, and only really starting in Fandom in this way, I was late to the party, so that is who I became.
