Answering some asks about the dad Murase lives AU under the cut because you are forcing me to think about what I've created (❤)
Tumblr media
@inkingkitsune
Murase had to know about N's less-than-savoury work. He was hired as a security guard (thanks to his brother) for a military facility for which he was told to kill any trespassers on sight. And his brother had been legally dead for a decade! But the main difference between the two brothers is that while N will still do horrors in the name of his job, Murase has spent his life after the war trying to help people to atone for what he had to do to survive. I think having to face concrete proof of what his brother did/does, especially without the immediate pressure of war and survival to "justify" his actions, to a kid he's grown somewhat attached to? That would be really hard on him.
-
Tumblr media
Frankly I had never heard of that theory before, and after considering it, I can't agree with it. The government has expressed barely any interest in Chuuya, N seems to have acted on his own. The PM has so many ability users, and abilities are so unknown to the general public, with or without Chuuya, it was an important move to make, and there was no normal legal way of getting it.
As for Oda... I fear he's going to suffer the same fate. In another post I did wonder if Mori would try to be more careful with Dazai, since we know he was very careful to nurture Chuuya's loyalty and bond to the mafia. But after thinking about it, while Mori felt bitter after Dark Era (please read the light novel), he says he would still do it because the permit was so important to get. Chuuya going away here wasn't his fault, so I see no reason he wouldn't do things especially differently. Maybe he'd feel even more bitter though.
-
Tumblr media
If Oda dies the same way... it's a fun question. Dazai would leave, Dazai would still refuse to work for the government, so his options are limited. I can't imagine Chuuya leaving at 16, join the ADA, and the mafia not knowing a thing about it? So what would Dazai do? Chuuya left and joined a group and now that group is his only option in Yokohama. If he wants to join them, he'll still have to wait two years for his records to be erased and hidden. And he knows Chuuya is gonna be there, and he knows him!! How frustrating and stressful is that wait going to be?
I'd like Chuuya to be gone when Dazai first joins, so Entrance Exam can still take place in a similar way. Maybe he accompanied Ranpo on his contract out of town? I do wonder if he'd confront Dazai publicly or in private... I'm still not sure how much he told the ADA about his own origins.
-
Tumblr media
I've decided that Chuuya leaves after the Dragon Head Conflict (after loosing a second set of friends in the same year), because this time, he has someone waiting for him to offer him an out. And this is interesting from a skk point of view. At that point, Dazai has already met both Oda and Ango, and technically, Double Black has made a name of themselves. Chuuya would be leaving at the creation/peak of Double Black, barely giving it enough time to get their name. But all that we know (so far) of what they were up to as teenagers has happened already! And Dazai has met Oda and Ango, he has a support system now! They'll be fine. Well, as fine as their canon counterparts anyway.
This is also funny because their "history" is less than two years of absolute hell, then a 5/6-year gap, and suddenly they're coworkers again.
-
Tumblr media
Honestly I don't know if Murase would have an opportunity to see it or its repercussions? I doubt he saw Chuuya directly after Verlaine (you know, mafia and all that), and I think Chuuya would be the one to seek him out after the DHC. I truly think you could count the amount of times Corruption was maybe used by Double Black in canon back then on one hand, and in this AU, it's literally only twice. Unless Asagiri planned for another big event and hasn't told us yet, I don't think Chuuya has had to use Corruption again in this AU until Lovecraft.
MAYBE someone would notify Chuuya's dad guardian that his son charge was badly injured, but with Yosano in the room, I doubt it would make it back to him. Same thing with Dead Apple. Murase lives in a blessed world where he knows Chuuya's powerful, but doesn't know the extent of it.
Tumblr media
Have a lil' doodle for making it all the way down here! (it's Chuuya's first week or something)

🥺, 😈, 👀, ✅!!!
Aaa thank you Nawy!! (Hi :D)
🥺 Is there a certain type of moment or common interaction between your characters that never fails to put you in your feels?
Being subconsciously protective. It gets me every single time: Chuuya tackling Dazai to safety in Stormbringer, Dazai keeping Chuuya’s head in his lap in Dead Apple while he sleeps (and the HAND) and Chuuya being genuinely concerned for Dazai during the Lovecraft fight — all of that!
To go on a brief related ramble, there’s this scene in a Miss Marple murder mystery that I read years ago where Miss Marple is watching this young couple touring a house. While the couple is on a balcony, the railing suddenly breaks, and the woman nearly falls down several stories. Instead of reaching out to grab her, her partner actually steps back off the balcony, leaving her to regain her balance on her own.
Miss Marple goes up to the woman afterwards and basically says “that young man will not make you a good partner if his first instinct is to save himself rather than help you.” And while it’s perhaps a bit of a surface level way to judge relationships, that always stuck with with me (and later got reinforced by a few Life Experiences), so that aspect has always been important to me with characters! (More reasons why I love Chuuya’s character so much alskdjfjf)
😈 Has there been a point in a story where you did something just to be playfully mean to your readers?
…Hmmm I’m actually struggling to think of one — tbh I’m pretty sensitive to angst (see blog title lol) so if I write things that are too mean I always end up making myself sad too 😅
…Oh except maybe the first chapter of “This is how it feels to take a fall”. That was very mean — BUT I would argue also necessary for the plot! (And again I did make myself very sad alskjdfj) (…come to think of it there were a few Howl AU cliffhangers that were also a bit mean)(oops)
👀 Tell me about an up and coming wip please!
*Vibrates in place* I am so desperate to have more sleep and time so I can actually finish things alsksjdjfj BUT here are a few updates: I’m making progress (if slower than I had hoped) on the Howl AU epilogue, and after that’s finished I’ll be working on the next Skyline Pigeon chapter, as well as a Howl AU extra that I recently figured out I’m going to call “Rimbaud and the Man of Many Ways”! I am very excited to work on that >:D also the Howl AU sequel will probably be a long time coming, but it’s going to be called “Chuuya and the Castle in the Air”! I’ve been working on plotting it, because I’m working some setup/foreshadowing into the main story epilogue so I need to know what I’m doing at least somewhat lol
Also here is a preview of the beginning of the Howl AU epilogue because I have no self control and also this part has been done for ages, it’s just the later parts that are taking forever alskdjfjf (also apologies for the screenshot I’m currently too sleepy to copy paste this whole chunk and format it on mobile)
Tumblr media
✅ What’s something that appears in your fics over and over and over again, even if you don’t mean to?
…My first instinct is to say “cuddling”, but that’s pretty deliberate — I crave the FLOOF. So I guess the more accurate answer, for both my writing AND my comics, would be “cooking together”, because that wasn’t something I noticed I was doing until other people started pointing it out XD (I even somehow managed to get it into the Little Mermaid AU — in retrospect my friend’s note of “wait they’re cooking bread now??” was an early sign lololol)

Is there more info about the kunikichudazai (??) baby comic au??? 👀👀 soft family things??? I just love the idea of them as a family!!
IM SO SORRY i never expect to get asks so i dont check much !! hopefully you didnt send this too long ago
HMMM well i think tbh ... kunikida is the voice of reason because ... dazai is good with kids but should not be left alone with them because he will just join in on whatever dumb ideas they have . and chuuya likes to spoil them so much ... CAN YOU IMAGINE CHUUYA WEARING ONE OF THOSE BABY HARNESS THINGS...
chuuya comes home late a lot and takes extra care not to wake the baby...
dazai kuni and chuuya raising a kid...would be chaotic i think. i talked about it with my friend and came to the conclusion that they would just grow up to be like jerma
i like 2 imagine them going on shopping trips for baby clothes and stuff and kunikida and chuuya are trying not to explode because .they are so small...... and then dazai makes a comment about how chuuya should shop at this store more often and they almost get kicked out .
when nobody is available and the other main agents can't babysit they probably get haruno and/or naomi to do it bc i feel like they would be happy to!!! on the pm side, probably higuchi and maybe gin bc…idc if shes an assassin i think she could be good with kids. kouyou and yosano are like the cool aunts too they love the kid!!
i also kind of thought they likely got umm a surrogate for the babey :)
as for more just domestic stuff in general i think they both like sleeping on kunikida's chest rahahhhh... and dazai gets the honor of playing with both chuuya AND kunikida's hair hes so lucky for real.
together i think kunikida and chuuya are rly able to help when dazai's mental health takes a turn for the worse. since both of them provide different kinds of reassurance he needs it rly helps :) and if one of them is out while dazai is in one of those states theyll usually text the other and ask him to bring home something nice 4 dazai like...chocolates or his favorite takeout or smth !!!
i also think sometimes chuuya uses his ability to just pick kunikida up and make him stop working when he buries himself in paperwork. like...nah youre coming to bed with us actually . and of course dazai was in on it and gets to be squished between his two boyfriends rahhh theyre soooo cute

Soukoku Potterverse AU Pt. Two Chuuya Nakahara
Chuuya:
Blood Status: Half Breed
His mother was a siren
(kind of like the bird hybrid women from the Odyssey not a mermaid.
It would be cool though if they had a mermaid form when in water and a bird hybrid form on land.
As you can see I am completely making this up as I go)
Chuuya’s father was a wizard
His father became a werewolf when he was a teenager but Chuuya’s mother loved him anyway.
For a while things were okay
Then the lycanthropy drove Chuuya’s father mad
When chuuya was 7 his father lashed out during a transformation
He severely injured Chuuya’s mother and bit Chuuya.
The healers tried their best but chuuya’s mother died of her injuries and Chuuya’s father was taken to a wizard physiatric facility especially for werewolves
Chuuya understands that his father was mentally ill but still holds anger towards him for killing his mother and dooming him to lycanthropy.
Chuuya is afraid that one day the same thing will happen to him
Because Lycanthropy isn’t hereditary Chuuya wouldn’t have been a werewolf if he hadn’t been bitten and he has siren traits from his mother
He can sings beautifully
Because of both his lycanthropy and siren genes his skin is thicker/more dense than normal human skin and he gets hurt less easily.
And he heals slightly faster than humans
I feel like if his mother had a mermaid form he would also be able to swim faster than normal humans and hold his breath underwater for longer periods of time though not indefinitely.
He was supposed to go to an orphanage but he ran away before they could come pick him up.
He was shocked when his Hogwarts letter arrived at the shed he was staying in.
Fukuzawa (Head of School and of Ravenclaw house along with Mori, who’s also head of Slytherin house) came and escorted him to school and paid for all his supplies.
He brought Dazai (basically him an Mori’s child) along with him
That’s how they meet
House: Gryffindor (I can also totally see him as a Slytherin since I am a Slytherin myself and share a lot of traits with Chuuya. Also people always place him in Gryffindor and it would be cool to see Slytherin Chuuya)
Reasons Chuuya could be a Slytherin
he’s highly ambitious, just like Dazai they just scheme in much different ways
He uses force but is also totally capable and willing to work the system to his benefit or to help those he’s loyal to.
Highly observant and intelligent and while he can be impulsive he usual has a plan and backup before completing missions
It takes him a while to open up but when he does he trusts so so deeply
He has lots of pride, and he’s determined and resourceful
He possesses many slytherin traits and when placed in Gryffindor I think he’s one of those Gryffindors that are more on the “crazy” side and aren’t obsessed with helping others but instead achieving their own goals whatever those may be
The point is he’s not really any one thing, he’s just Chuuya, whatever house he’s in.
Also if Soukoku were on the Quidditch they would constantly fight
but really be pushing each other to do better
at games they would totally blow away the competition
Anyway back to the main headcanons
Wand Wood: I haven’t really decided but I’m thinking it would be one of these:  Ash, Blackthorn, English Oak, Fir, or Red Oak
Wand Core: Dragon Heartstring
Length: 9 inches (22.86 cms) Dazai always teases him about this
A chibi wand for a chibi
Flexibility: fairly pliable
Patronus: Red Six-legged Nine-Tailed fox, capable of walking on hind legs like a human. The tips of its ears and tail appear to be flames. Stands roughly 3 metres tall when on its hind legs. It usually has three eyes, two in the normal location and one on its forehead, but more eyes can appear either above or below the normally placed eyes or occasionally on its legs.
Speciality: Charms and Transfiguration
Extra Ability: Werewolf (was bitten at age 7)
Favourite subject: Defence Against the Dark Arts and Quidich
He loves playing and winning for the teams nd is very loyal to his quidditch team mates
Always ends up a tie and a fight when they play Slytherin
Dazai figured out that he was a werewolf almost immediately
At first Chuuya was defensive about it, afraid he would be judged
Until one night he went to the Forbidden Forest to transform and a big cat like figure appeared beside him.
The cat figure has eight glowing neon green eyes and eight legs. It’s skeleton is also glowing green and can be seen through the skin.
Chuuya’s werewolf form tries to fight it but it doesn’t attack and lets itself be chewed on and scratched up.
Eventually the werewolf form tires out and both creatures fall asleep together.
Chuuya wakes up in human form next to this creature and loses his shit until it shifts back into a fully clothed Dazai.
He realises Dazai had made an animagus to be able to stay with Chuuya.
He angry and upset that he could’ve hurt Dazai
Dazai of course knows he would never, even in wolf form and so this becomes they’re monthly routine.
The moment he realised Dazai was helping him became his happy memory for casting his patronus
He finds History of Magic sooo boring the way the professor teaches it so he does most of his studying on his own.
During his first year he broke almost every quill from writing too hard before he got used to them.
He smuggles in pens and other muggle objects.

hi! i was wondering if you had any recommendations for completed soukoku fics over 80,000 words? any genre works!
Hello!!!
I looove really really long fics, so here are some of the big boys that I liked a lot!
Let me know the ones you enjoy best!!
-f
Bungou Game Dogs by HYPERPOWER666: After swallowing a strange sleeping pill that his orphanage director gave him, Atsushi lands into an alternative world where he has to play games and gain points to proceed. Not knowing what or where he is, he plays the games in hope to return back to the orphanage but instead finds himself with new friends and a quest to defeat the final, yet unbeaten boss. (95,243 words)
Everything or Nothing by CataclysmicEvent: College AU where Chuuya finds out that the boy he drunkenly made out with the night of orientation is his new roommate. His arrogant, smug, very straight roommate. And the boys are each convinced the other is trying to ruin their life by making them go absolutely insane. (263,037 words)
Betrayal Is in My Nature by milwritescausewhynot: When Dazai Osamu is sent on an undercover mission to purloin One Order from the Ozaki Mafia, the last thing he expected to do was fall in love with the very boy he’s supposed to betray. And yet, that’s exactly what he ends up doing. How foolish. (172,459 words)
Inseperable by milwritescausewhynot: Best friends is too simple a term to squash the entire dynamic of Dazai Osamu and Nakahara Chuuya within. Sure, they’ve known each other since they were children, and they’re each other’s #1 on their best friend lists on Snapchat, and Chuuya’s been seen one too many times in his hoodies. People have also noticed how Dazai’s main muse for his volunteer hobby of polaroid photographer is the redhead himself. But the pranks they pull on each other isn’t much of a ‘best friend’ thing to do. Especially when one of the pranks get pulled so far, That Chuuya is forbidden from seeing Dazai ever again. And though he sees no good coming from such a forced separation, the one thing that can enhance their futures together is propelled forward at a faster speed than either of them could have ever imagined: coming to terms with their unusual feelings for each other.(107449 words)
where your loyalties lie by writingfromtheshadows: Loyalty is the foundation of the yakuza code, something that was drilled into Chuuya at an early age. However, his lessons did not cover how to manage a political marriage with his organization's oldest rival. (163,125 words)
Baby Executive by BlowingYourMind: Dazai's normally boring morning was shattered when a small pair of arms wrapped themselves around his knees and big azure eyes blinked up at him partnered with a stupidly happy grin. Or: Chuuya is hit with an ability that reverses his age. (101,652 words)
don't you ever tame your demons by writingfromtheshadows: Every year, a handful of children are born with the ability to command supernatural powers. Thousands of dollars and dozens of trained specialists are tasked with identifying, tracking down, and labeling each one as Deviant. Once identified, they have no rights other than those that are permitted to them, and disobedience is a crime punishable by death. Chuuya has never known a life outside of the routine he's forced to follow, but when the boss of Yokohama's Port Mafia offers him a chance of freedom, Chuuya is not prepared for the rebellion he's stumbling into. (108,592 words)
wolf among sheep by Shinkirou: Joining a local gang of orphaned children at the age of thirteen hadn't exactly been Dazai's plan in life, but realistically speaking, it isn't like he has anything better to do, so... Why not? (There are, of course, many reasons to not do that, but, well. Dazai's boredom is a powerful thing.) [AKA the completely self-indulgent "Dazai joins the Sheep" au that nobody asked for.] (130,848 words)
A Collision of Fates by dgalerab: Dazai Osamu has always known his fate - to become the vessel of the Hollow God, a god hellbent on reuniting with Its lover, the Tainted God, and wreaking havoc on the world. But that doesn't mean he can't try going on a last ditch effort of a quest trying to stop it from happening. (83,603 words)
Cheese by Alien_ships: Eco-friendly, vegan Akutagawa is yelling at other customers in the supermarket and Atsushi who works in dairy products is kind of impressed. Includes Dazai tempting Chuuya with cheese and wine, Mori The Manager and Fyodor: The Creepy But Lovable Roommate. (82,264 words)
bonus big boys that already popped up over the blog are: still still still by icedlightroast (112,578 words) and I Was Screaming Your Name Through The Radio by ElectricSplatter (256,709 words) of course.

The Snowfury
Tumblr media
Im writing a bsd Httyd au, because I have an inescapable obsession with both series.
To summarize without many spoilers (incase I ever do finish any fic in the series instead of just planning to write them), ADA are dragon riders, they love dragons, dragons love them, basically the main riders from Httyd in RTTE. Their island is just covered in rescued dragons. PM are dragon hunters who, under Moris guidance, have learned to ‘tame’ dragons through fear and abuse. Chuuya is not in the PM, he’s off being awesome and thinking everybody he loved is dead you know how it is. Atsushi (since Chuuya is not the main charcter even if I love him in this au) is a guy, who, through a series of unfortunate events, ends up with the ADA. His dragon, his bestest friend (Named Byakko, after his ability), is a lightfury (and Akutagawa had a Nightfury names Rashomon of course)
The problem with this is that I have a bit of a problem with the Lightfury. Her concept was cool, and some fanart of her is so nice! But her canon animation was just, eh, and overall I feel like her design could have been better. Some parts just don’t make sense, and really I think they could have done the ´sleek, feminine Fury species that is similar but very different than the nightfury’ idea without having her look,,,, squished. And oddly fem for a DRAGON. I always thought she felt out of place in the world of HTTYD.
So, in my efforts to slightly change her design so I could have a lightfury in my au without using the full canon design, I got carried away and now here we are, I made an entire species, for some reason.
Allow me to explain.
Lore/General Info
The ‘Lightfury’, actually known as the ‘SnowFury’ by the groups that live around them. Though even they don’t see them much. ´Lightfury’ is a term used by cultures who do not naturally have these dragons, as they mistook them for ´daytime NightFurys’ instead of arctic dragons. The dragon eye lists them as SnowFurys, but as artwork of them was limited due to their stealth, few have made the connection between the ‘two species’.
Snowfury’s share a common ancestor with the Nightfury, but evolved in an entirely different environment. While NightFurys are known to prefer forested habitats, preferable near lakes, beaches, rivers, etc, Snowfurys are found only in the snowy wastelands far to the north and far to the south. Though they are now nearly extinct in the south, that is where they were originally named aswell, and no humans are known to inhabit the north.
Just like NightFurys, they are few and far between. In the south, hunted to near extinction (perhaps they truly are gone?) and no one knows if they live in the north. Perhaps they fled there, perhaps they all died in the journey across the ocean, perhaps they have existed there forever and we will never know. Perhaps we are wrong entirely, and they have simply become even better at hiding? Some have heard they can turn invisible, not just blend in, but truly invisible
This will be explained further in the design details, but Snowfurys are larger and bulkier than NightFurys, and though still one of the fastest dragons, they fall just slightly short of the Nightfury. They have a layer of not-quite-blubber, it keeps them warmer but isn’t quite as squishy or heavy, as they still need to be sleek to fly at such high speeds. They can swim in freezing water and walk through blizzards barely noticing the cold.
Their shiny white scales make them nearly impossible to make out within the snow and ice, during a blizzard they are even more deadly. They are known to dig burrows in snow, both as nests/dens and for hunting/stealth purposes.
Changes I made and why/ cool design element of the species
No blue/pink undertones, their stark white but slightly sparkly coulouring is an amazing camoflauge, they are deadly in the snow. Though I couldn’t portray it well (can you tell ive never edited something before and am not at all an artist?), similar to the NightFurys faint stripes, they have a faint rosette pattern, almost like a snow leopard.
Not sure how visible it is, but head is less squished. Proper muzzle for fishing! And carrying babies! All those good things!
Their tail fins do not split at the end, they are known to use it almost like a shovel at times
Their claws are longer thicker and sharper than a NightFurys, they use them to grip onto ice and climb mountains with minimal effort.
Their eyes range from various blues, light teals and pale purples, nothing too vibrant though, they have very pale eyes (while nightfurys have more vibrant eyes, in bright greens and yellows and organes, even red perhaps)
Again, they are bulkier and stronger. Sacrificing a tiny bit of speed for higher strength. Still the second fastest dragon though, just slightly behind NughtFury. This extra bulk not only keeps them warmer but allows them to power through blizzards and scale icy mountains without blinking, they can swim in freezing water without getting cold and walk through deep snow. I made the Snowfurys legs a bit propertionally thicker, aswell as their neck.
Still less ear nubs, but i added a third set. They are shorter but wider than Nightfurys, it’s cold!
Back fin is rufflier and there is a smaller one on head, I mostly just liked the look. The fins on legs and back/head/tail help with aerodynamics, and swimming. They are surprisingly durable, as they need to hold up against freezing temperatures and crazy wind.
More scale definition, though not as muh as a NightFury. They have thick protective scales, but retain a smoother look, not only are they better swimmers than NightFurys but it makes them even harder to spot against the smooth shiny snow.
I made the other two tail fins larger to match the main one
Other little bits
Female Snowfurys are larger than males, and male Snowfurys are about the same as Female Nightfurys if a bit larger and male night fury’s are smaller than female nightfury’s
They have all the same ability’s as Lightfurys, retractable teeth, plasma blast, invisibility, you get it.
You could just say the Lightfruys don’t exist in this au, and Snowfurys are an unique species, but they are still called Lightfurys in most places (Americas, Yokohama seas, United Kingdom’s, etc. Only the southern frozen islands (where Fyodor and Nikolai are from in this au btw) call them Snowfurys, but they found them first so it’s the ‘true name’. It is also what’s in the dragon eye.
Do canon Lightfurys exist? Maybe, how am I supposed to know?
They swim very well as I think I mentioned, better than Nightfurys but not quite like a true tidal class dragon. They eat a lot of fish like Nightfurys, though they will eat basically anything, this would have one day perhaps included humans, but any living ones are sure to avoid humans now
They’re basically cold proof, on land and in water. They can do it but aren’t usually fans of extreme heat, since they have a natural layer of fat (not quite blubber but close) meant to keep them warm. They get hot quick and retain that heat well, they have never been seen in a warm place, though who knows if they go there or not. You rarely see them anyways,
They basically have the same reputation as Nightfurys, but since they don’t live most places even more mysterious. Nobody really knows anything about either species, even the Dragon Eye has rather vague drawings, though it’s still more info than anywhere else. It’s believed that more detailed records exists, but either nobody has found those lenses or the information wasn’t put on a lense
I’ll probably make a more detailed ref sheet with wings (same as canon LF,smoother than Nightfurys and a bit shorter and broader) and eye colours and stuff someday
Pack orientated species, just like Nightfurys. Though adults almost always hunt alone for stealthyness, they always live in groups, it’s important. They are social!
No I will not tell you what is in the north, that is a SECRET! Yes it is awesome and plot relevant and angsty but fluffy at the same time and I will make my readers cry when I write it!
I Hope this was at least somewhat coherent, I’m tired but brain won’t sleep until it gets to share its thoughts.
Will i ever actually write this? Yes probably but like, I’m currently on my avian au, Ranpo bad things happen bingo (I’m on prompt 15/25 now, whoo!) and that unfinished SKK au I’m writing (it’s like, 10k and I’m not even at the main plot what am I doing?? It’s based on a one of my favorite movies ever and includes wolves and feral woods child Chuuya btw). Someday, I will write Httyd au, eventually.
Any ideas for rider dragons are lovely,,,, you know incase you want to. I have most but there’s a few that I’m just, aaaaaah
Goodnight

once again I remember that Tumblr has not heard of all my bsd AU ideas, and I do not ramble about them enough, so buckle up i’m rambling about one of my bsd aus again
warning this gets long and detailed so if you wish to keep reading click keep reading DkWDMA
Siren/Seafolk Pirate Crew AU
-  Chuuya is the captain of the infamous The Arahabaki, a ship rumored to have disappeared over a century ago returned with a crew of sirens and mermaids.
- Chuuya is the vessel of Arahabaki, who was a god who took the form of a serpent and caused many calamities in history, before suddenly disappearing. Due to this fact, Chuuya has a unique scale color, a bright red. When he uses corruption, he does still cough blood and technically slowly die, but he also has more of his siren side showing (he looks as human as possible usually and no one's ever seen his actual siren form before).
- The reason behind Chuuya being Arahabaki’s vessel is mostly unknown, but some of his crew suspects it may have involved an incident where a supposedly failed ritual set up was found covered by debris and rocks on the ocean floor, right around the same time Arahabaki disappeared.
-  Another crew member, who is usually kept out of sight and below deck or inside a cabin, is Atsushi. A Siren-mermaid hybrid which caused him to have white and black scales, and a unique pattern on his scales being stripes. Due to this, he is a main target for other pirates to try and get because of his rarity. He gets along well with Tanizaki and one of the later crew members who tags along, Lucy. Though he argues a lot with Akutagawa, another siren in the crew.
-  Akutagawa is essentially the second-in-command, he keeps everyone on track and is a rare siren as well that Chuuya found, Akutagawa has black-scales but usually covers them up with fabric he can control. It's a strange side affect he refuses to tell the backstory of (but Chuuya suspects Dazai might know why but just isn't telling, as it seems Akutagawa and Dazai have met before.)
-  Akutagawa's younger sister who also has black scales and is a siren, Gin, usually is the one to hoist sails and such due to her quick thinking and also because of how much agility she has. Some crew members, including Chuuya, suspect she had assassin training from someone due to the fact she always carries a dagger around and is very skilled with it.
- Dazai is a siren who’s kept in the bottom of the ship because Chuuya despises him. Atsushi at first has no clue who he is because he barely is allowed out from the bottom of the ship, and occasionally when he is out and about it’s only to help stop Chuuya’s corruption. He has been pushed down the stairs way too many times form Chuuya shoving him back down to the lower deck, though. (A tad bit of contribution to him being in the lower deck is because of his weird nullifying abilities, but mostly because Chuuya doesn’t like him.)
-  Tanizaki is a mermaid who has orange scales. He's on The Arahabaki to get paid and help get stuff for his sister, Naomi, who stayed at home (she's also less... ew in this AU because. yeah) when Tanizaki got hired on The Arahabaki, happy for her brother to be able to get a decent job. He's very helpful and he and the captain get along well, he also is mainly on cleaning duty but is skilled in combat as well. Usually relying on tricks or distractions to fight though.
-  Lucy is a mermaid as well in this AU, and she escapes onto The Arahabaki as a stowaway until Chuuya catches her snooping through their food supply in search of something. She escapes onto it because she was on an island they went too which had a market place, and she stole something and needed to get away from the island so she didn't get caught with a valuable item, which was the book. (Which she loses and is looking for when Chuuya catches her. She still has no clue how she lost it.)
- Q is here too! And is introduced in an entirely different way. When Chuuya gets off The Arahabaki to get some supplies, Chuuya notices a commotion and sees some people dragging a crying siren child away from the crowd that started to gather around said child. He also notices Q is a unique siren, or also a siren-mermaid hybrid, who’s scales are half white and half black, he then grabs a sword from one of the nearby guards and stabs the person who is dragging Q away from the public, mainly being influenced by Arahabaki whispering something to him about saving the child, before he then flees from the marketplace with Q.
- Q joins the crew from then on, getting along well with the other siren child there, Kenji. He gets super excited to meet someone younger than him and claims them as his younger sibling, also commenting on how the colors of their scales reminds him of the cows his family raised.
- Kenji is a mermaid who was raised on a farm! Not. not an underwater one, he literally was just a mermaid born with two human parents and they didn’t notice his scales until he got older. His incredible strength is from his mermaid blood, no one knows how his both human parents ended up with a mermaid child, but they decided it may be best if he explored the ocean. He then ended up on The Arahabaki.
- Fyodor is still here, he and Chuuya have a cool fight scene at some point and both of them live. Fyodor is as mysterious as ever, first appearing to aid Tanizaki in a fight, then disappearing without a trace.
as a thanks for reading through all this, here’s some cool scenes that happen in this AU:
Chuuya fighting three guards while blindfolded and his hands are tied, ends up as the victor and stabs a sword into the ground and climbs onto it's hilt and threatens the person who sent the guards after him. (No, he totally didn’t climb onto the sword’s hilt to make himself seem taller. totally not.)
Tanizaki fights off some pirates who attempt to invade the ship pretty decently, though when it starts getting too tough, Fyodor appears out of nowhere and helps Tanizaki fend off the invading pirates, before Fyodor disappears just as quickly as he appeared. Tanizaki is left very confused and informs Chuuya of this, who simply smirks when he learns of this strange, mysterious and strong individual
The entire fight scene between Chuuya and Fyodor is very violent with sly comments thrown in and there. Also no, Fyodor doesn’t kill everyone he touches this AU, it’s kind of different. So he and Chuuya get into a very action-filled fight, at first Chuuya refuses to fight Fyodor but immediately attacks him in response to Fyodor throwing Akutagawa across the ship with ease. At some point Chuuya is distracted by Dazai running up from the lower deck and yelling for Chuuya to back down from attacking Fyodor, in response Fyodor kicks Chuuya into the sky. Oh yeah he has the strength to do that by the way, don’t ask me either he’s just a strange siren guy

Hi there! I'm Luna!
I’m 26 years old as of writing this, I live in Canada & my timezone is EST. I've been writing in various RPC fandoms for 11 years now, & have been doing so on Tumblr on & off since I was 19. I'm cis (probably) & use she/her generally but I'm also totally okay with they/them used in a general sense if you’re referring to me. I’m Pagan & have been practicing sporadically for about 12 years now, so you could say I’ve always had an interest in religion, folklore & mythology of all different kinds which may explain the weird assortment of fandoms I’ve participated in.
I am neurodivergent & have a handful of physical health issues on top of working a part time job which causes my online activity to be pretty random but frequent, but other than that, I don't think there's anything else important to say. If you'd like to learn more about me feel free to reach out, I'm usually pretty receptive to new conversations even if I’m sometimes shy about reaching out first!
That out of the way, here's a few things to keep in mind when following me:
This is a sideblog for Mori, & follow backs will come from @moonrisenmuses. Now, I understand that multimuse / hub blogs aren’t for everyone, & there’s absolutely NO pressure to follow, interact with or look at my main blog! I’ll only be using it to send asks from my sideblogs, & only if you happen to have anonymous asks off! Seriously, I wont be sad or offended if you aren’t interested in my other muses.
I want to state, my Mori blog is EXTREMELY CANON DIVERGENT with regards to his past & certain aspects of his character. To get it out of the way... I don’t write Mori as being a pedophile. Yes, he’s creepy. Yes, he’ll violate the emotional & probably physical boundaries of anyone he thinks he can manipulate. YES, he has abused several children mentally, physically & emotionally. He basically brainwashed Dazai with his fucked up way of thinking + is probably responsible for at least 1/3rd of Dazai’s physical scars with the way he ‘treats’ his patients, & he destroyed Yosano emotionally. You don’t even want to know what he did to my interpretation of Chuuya over on his blog, man had a breakdown & pushed Mori out the window of the Port Mafia HQ to his death in his Mafia Boss AU.
He is responsible for a huge part of the cycle of abuse that infects the Port Mafia. He abused Yosano, he abused Dazai who went on to abuse Yumeno & Akutagawa, the latter of whom then began inflicting that same pain & awful way of thinking onto Kyōka & even Higuchi.
HE IS A BAD PERSON. If you allow it, he will manipulate your character. Especially young or passive or naïve characters because they are easier to control & have less emotional resistance to his tactics.
But he’s not a pedophile or a rapist so please keep your gross headcanons about what he’s done with any of the underage characters of the franchise to yourself, especially regarding Dazai, Yosano, Q, Chuuya, Akutagawa, Kyōka & Gin. I’m not about that. If you’re interested in following a Mori blog because you think I’d be down for gross proship non-con lolicon pairings, or whatever it’s called, turn back now. I have an alternate faceclaim for Elise & gave him a late wife that completely changes Elise’s manifestation. He’s not a pedophile on this blog because his actions are all based on logic & reason, & in his mind, while he could abuse children that way & not feel an ounce of remorse because he isn’t capable of feeling remorse, he would gain nothing from it. Physical threats & mind games are much more his forte.
MOVING ON! My blog is 18+ only as well as multiship, multiverse, & again, very canon divergent. The events will stay the same, but Mori’s psychological state & past have very much been customized to my portrayal of him.
As a general rule, I strongly prefer my RP partners to be 18+ regardless of the fandom simply due to my age & the sort of content I tend to write. Graphic & disturbing, I use swearing somewhat liberally OOC, sexual content, etc. If there's no age to be found on your blog somewhere I won't RP with you, sorry. Even a general idea is okay, it's for my own comfort & safety as well as yours; a 14 year old for example really shouldn't read the type of writing I'll likely be posting. Thank you.
I do tag triggers! Almost all the default triggers (child abuse //, violence //, murder //) etc will be tagged. If you have anything you need tagged that is less common, don't be afraid to ask me to tag it, I'm happy to do my part to make you comfortable!
On Triggering Material: I will not write any of the following on the dash: graphic animal abuse, graphic sexual assault/rape (allusions/references are fine as it's sometimes part of a character's background including my own). This may be in the form of flashbacks, discussions of trauma, recovery threads, etc. I just won't write scenes of it, I'm also fine with 'close call' threads where my muse rescues yours from assault or vice versa since that’s a very real thing that can & does happen IRL. I’m just not willing to post such content blatantly on the dash as I know it’s a deeply upsetting subject, & I have no desire to romanticize sexual abuse. I will not write anything to do with pedophilia or any sexual content with characters or muns under 18, bestiality (as in actual animals, not ability users who are able to become animals), necrophilia, etc. basically the 'main' major things that would squick out most people. For my own & my mutuals comfort PLEASE DO NOT INTERACT WITH ME IF YOU THINK ITS OKAY TO SHIP MINORS & ADULTS.
I do tend to format my replies using small text & customizing with bold & italics for the sake of the aesthetic/emphasis, but I don't expect you to. If you have any issues visually or language wise with how i RP come talk to me & we can try to work things out. I will also be using icons at some point, but not constantly, mostly just to dress up a reply now & then.
Don't force shipping with any of my characters. If a ship happens, that's great, & you're 100% allowed to just come & ask me if I'd like to ship but don't just go ahead with it without asking. It’s okay if you don’t remember what each muse’s orientation is, I’m fine giving gentle reminders or letting you know what is/isn’t okay to assume if the topic of shipping happens to come up. Just don’t get upset if I turn down a ship because it’s incompatible with my muse’s gender or orientation; it would be uncomfortable & unfair to try to force a ship on him if your muse isn't what they’re typically inclined towards. That being said, all of my muses are open to unrequited romances as well, & in fact you don't even need to ask. It's okay for your muse to have feelings for mine, but they might not always reciprocate!
Finally, my blog is absolutely drama free! I will not share callouts of any kind unless someone is an imminent danger. I've been roleplaying for 10 years now & frankly I'm just here to have fun without getting into fights. IF I FIND OUT YOU’VE SENT ANONS HARASSING MY FRIENDS I WILL BLOCK YOU! Seriously, you have a problem with me, come to me about it, don’t be a fucking pussy.
If you made it to the end of this congratulations! There's no passwords or anything here, please feel free to follow me if you think we'd click, & welcome!

Bungou Stray Dogs Men as Househusbands pt.1 - Sakunosuke Oda
A/N: I’m sorry that this isn‘t a request, but this brain rot has been going on since forever and now I can’t resist it anymore. I totally blame @hanazou for this. There will also be a part two featuring Chuuya, but his part has a completely different feeling to it, that's why I'll post these separately. Besides of that, this is basically an “Way of the Househusband!AU”. Go watch the show or read the manga if you don’t know it, it’s absolutely hilarious! This is mainly focused on them as househusbands, but since you are their spouse, there’s also a bit of reader insert. Also, a lot of Oda as a dad to his orphans. And the whole thing is feat. Dazai. (^^)
Pairings: Oda x gn!reader
Genre: Crack, domestic fluff
Warnings: none
Summary: You, Oda and the orphans move in together. While you become the working spouse, your loving husband stays at home and becomes a full-time househusband.
pt. 2
Tumblr media
First things first - If you agree to marrying Sakunosuke Oda, you are also agreeing to become the parent of five children. Oda loves you and you are one of two main reasons he’s leaving the Mafia, the other being his life purpose. But if he’s leaving the Mafia, he’s keeping those kids in (if they want him to of course, but you can’t tell me they don’t, come on -)
So yeah, be ready.
He only cooks spicy curry at the beginning. The curry shop owner gave him the exact recipe of his favourite plate as a goodbye gift and that’s the only thing he is cooking for days on end. He has some basic cooking skills, but this is the only really elaborated dish he knows how to prepare as of now, so be ready to suffer from the spice. It will go on like that until all six of you you and the kids hold an intervention for him. The kids will paint nice banners like they were going to a demonstration saying "No more curry" that they hang up in the living room and he’ll be greeted by your sorrowful face when he comes back from buying groceries.
“What’s this?” – “Oh honey, I’m so sorry, its just…” – “WE CAN’T TAKE THE SPICE ANYMORE STOP COOKING CURRY ALREADY!” – “…I mean…yeah.”
Of course, he’ll be a bit embarrassed and disappointed. May scratch his neck and look to the side thoughtfully. But he’ll take your plead seriously.
This is also how you bond with the kids for the first time. Congratulations, huddling up against someone is always the best way to bond!
He works hard on his cooking skills after that and becomes quite the formidable cook. He takes suggestions from you and the kids and will try to learn how to cook anything you might fancy to eat. It’s really important to him that all of you are happy and cooking may be the most important job of a house spouse, so he takes it very seriously.
There will be curry Tuesday though. One day of spice hell. Enjoy.
Please picture Oda in his usual attire, wearing a beige “kiss the cook” apron over it and bunny slippers. You’re welcome.
He'll learn how to make anime and cartoon-themed bentos for the kids, so it's highly probable you'll get cutely designed bentos as well. Again, you may drop suggestions, he’ll absolutely take them into considerations. Octopus sausages, bunny apple slices, cute bear faces made out of rice, he’ll learn to do them all. He isn’t too sappy of a person, but if he’s feeling romantic while cooking, your rice could also have the shape of a heart. Either way, your co-workers will be very envious of your food and your husband.
Oda iss the master of negotiation at the food market. He’ll be completely stoic all the time, not aggressive or dismissive at all, but he’ll point out little flaws of the products in a way that most shop owner’s won’t be able to deny and that’s how he gets discounts. He doesn’t want to cheat anyone out of their money, but he does have seven mouths to feed.
He may not look like it, but if any of the kids tag along for his grocery shopping, it's really hard for him to deny them something if they beg for it. He may seem unnervingly calm all the time, but he’s a big softie, especially for those kids and for you, and if they hang at his sleeves long enough, they’ll get that ice-cream they want so badly. That doesn’t work on pricier items though, he can be a strict parent when really needed.
Oda is great at handling the finances. He’s well aware that he has to be thrifty with five kids. Still, there is one thing where he struggles to keep his control: books.
If you agree to it, the apartment will have an absolutely minimalistic interior, but! In your living room, there will be a shelf full of books, so big it covers a whole wall. That’s it, that’s Oda’s only weak spot when spending money.
It’s not only books for him though. He buys books for you when he sees something from your favourite author or genre. He buys books for the kids so they learn the joy of literature. Poems, bed time stories he wants them to grow up appreciating the possibilities of the written word.
You can bet that he’ll read them bed time stories. Only one book for all five of them though, so one kid gets to choose a story each day.
He’ll read to you as well if you want him to. His voice is incredibly calm and soothing, he’s a really good reader. There’s a high probability you’ll fall asleep while he reads to you. You can cuddle up in bed and rest your head on his shoulder or sit on his lap and hide your face in the crook of his neck, feeling the vibration of his voice in his chest.
Whenever he has some time to spare, he’ll retire to your shared bedroom to write. Mind you, that won’t happen often. It happens mainly on weekends, when the kids are with friends and/or you are at home. If you want to do him a favour, consider cooking on the weekends, he’ll be more than thankful for the opportunity to submerge in his beloved writing. But don’t worry, it won’t consume him – he’ll always put some time aside to spent with you, without the kids, as well ¬‿¬.
He's so polite with the neighbours. Will pay all his neighbours a short visit together with the kids to introduce himself and bring little gifts. Just imagine him standing there in the door frame, witih all five kids around his legs, smiling at their new neighbours angelically - what's not to love?
He really wants to maintain a good relationship to all of them. Basically, he’s the perfect neighbour – always polite, always up to a little chat, always ready to listen to neighbour A complain over neighbour B without snitching. He’s mainly concerned for the wellbeing the kids though. He wants them to feel part of the community and often arranges play dates with the neighbour kids. If it's possible at the neighbour’s house because five kids are a lot to handle already…and when they are all out of the apartment, it’s cleaning time.
Oda is an angel of patience and the ultimate multitasker. He isn’t left with much of a choice with five kids, but thankfully, calm lies in his nature. You may see him explaining Sakura her math homework while cutting vegetables for today’s lunch. Then, he’ll take a quick glance out of the window to see if they boys are still playing on the street where he can see them and then he’ll check on Sakura again. Isn’t he lovely?
His ability is unexpectedly helpful for all of this. If he’s in the living room to clean, his ability will alarm him if the food’s about to burn. If he’s around the kids, he’ll know in time if one is about to trip. If you come home from work so tired you fall asleep face first in your soup, he’ll be able to catch you. So useful.
He’s a very attentive and loving husband. His love is mainly expressed by keeping the house as clean as he can and putting a lot of effort into cooking. Your work is hard enough, he takes it upon himself to manage everything else. He’ll also try to have the kids well-behaved so they don’t demand too much from you after you come home from work. Though if you decide to pull yourself together and give them attention and love even when tired, he’ll be more than thankful. He knows it’s a lot to ask to be a parent, especially to not one, but FIVE kids that are not yours by blood. So if you actively seek to have a close bond to them, it will make him so incredibly happy because he knows it’s not the natural course of action for everyone.
Will give you head, shoulder and foot massages after an especially excruciating day of work. His hands are skillful and he knows where to touch to make you moan to release the tension from your muscles.
Likes to lie his head in your lap after both of you had a long day of work. Yes, you may be the provider, but keeping a house clean and five kids under control isn’t an easy job either! So, he’ll seek peace laying his head on your thighs and closing his eyes while you tussle his hair and tell him about your day. Don’t expect more than a mumbled “Mm” or “I see” from time to time, but be sure that he’s listening.
And the Port Mafia? You’re in luck - since he was the lowest-ranking member, The Mafia, by which I mean Mori isn’t bothered that he left. He refused to kill anyways, he’s to no use to them him.
Of course, Oda will try to be absolutely sure there is no hidden reason for Mori to hinder his leave beforehand, or to resent him for it. The last thing he wants is to endanger you or the kids by leaving his job as a criminal.
If he ever meets a member of the PM in public, he'll act as if he doesn't know them. He may give them a polite nod if they make eye contact, but that’s about it. It’s not that he resents them, but he really wants to start a new life here that isn’t connected to killing and cruelty at all. If they approach him he'll be very polite, but try to keep the conversation short, even if they seem to have no ulterior motive.
Of course, there’s one member of the Port Mafia that marks the exception, by which I mean to say that you’ll have Osamu Dazai over for tea regularly. No, he won’t announce himself at all. The first time he appears at your apartment, you’re just finishing to unpack. He’ll tand at your doorstep all of a sudden to tell Oda that Mori already knows where he moved to. Oda will just nod as an acknowledgement. He expected as much. And then he’ll give you a questioning look. If you nod, he’ll officially asking his friend to stay for dinner. You’ll be having curry.
From then on, he’ll just drop by whenever. You may come back home from time to time to find dinner ready, the kids in bed and your husband and Dazai drinking. If you join them, you will have some truly joyful evenings spend together. You’re Oda’s chosen one, so Dazai is a bit more inclined to let you get close than he is with others. You may make a new friend in the process.
It doesn’t take a lot of time for the kids to start calling him Uncle Dazai. He’ll actually be Uncle Dazai before they ever call Oda Dad or you Mom/Dad. It will take them mere weeks to call him uncle, but months, maybe years to call the two of you Dad/Mom. It will happen eventually though, and the day it happens, I assure you that you will see Oda spill tears of happiness. He’ll be looking away, wiping his face with one hand and smiling. He never thought he would want this, but now he knows he does.
Back to Dazai! He’s reserved with the kids at first. As we know, he doesn’t feel all to comfortable around “childish behaviour”. But kids are like cats, the feel drawn to the one that’s most cautious. By which I mean to say that they are all over him. Literally. Oda will leave for five minutes and when he’s back at the living room the kids will have tackled a slightly unnerved Dazai on the floor. Sakura wants him to see the drawings she made, Katsumi, Kousuke and Yuu want to play, Shinji wants to ask him what's under his bandages. He’ll have no choice but to oblige and it goes surprisingly well. Oda may abuse him as a baby-sitter when he visits from then on.
Then suddenly, Dazai stops visiting altogether. You are worried, but Oda, for some reason, isn’t. Even more, whenever you ask him about it, you may catch him smiling to himself in a satisfied, proud way. No, Dazai didn’t tell him anything. If Oda would know, it would endanger all of you. But he knows. He knows that Dazai finally made his choice to leave the Port Mafia and needs to lay low now. And that’s okay.
It takes Dazai two years to come back, which will be just as sudden as him leaving. You’ll be astounded to see him a changed man at first sight. Oda will scold him for not sending any notice and then everything is normal again. And after some more years, he’ll start bringing along a scrawny kid with white hair.
A/N: Wow, this is the first post I put a "keep reading" link in because it's so long! That's kind of a milestone for me. 。゚(TヮT)゚。
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this! Thank you for reading!

At risk of sounding like one of those people who's loud about things they don't like again and again, I honestly think Beast is my least favourite part of BSD lore.
The more I find out about it, the more it reads like a Greek tragedy where its doomed to failure from the start. There's a reason it isn't canon. If that continuity was meant to end up anywhere near as uplifting as the main manga, we'd be following it from the start.
My reasoning is mostly this: Dazai is such a central role in stabilising the people and forces around him. Sounds weird, but it's true. Without him, everything starts going to shitty hell in a handbasket.
Kunikida has no one to keep his ideals in check - notably, the part where he doesn't stop to relax, or think about how other people can't keep up with his schedules.
Kyouka needed him as a reality check, that someone far worse than her, who had a worse sense of self and moral direction, could be on the "light" no matter that it wasn't what he did best.
For Mori, he's a constant lesson and reminder of how not to do things. He's also a warning. Dazai tells Mori "do not underestimate the power that emotion and human bonds/friendships can have to make people do the unexpected and act outside of uour understanding." Also, of how Mori can push people away who he doesn't want gone if he's not careful.
Further, we have Fyodor, and this arc in the manga has made it *abundantly clear* that those two are rhe only ones matched to take each other on. Chuuya gets too rash, and thinks with his heart over his head. Mori is the opposite, and thinks with logic over heart, and loses pretty much everything (again. How many times do we have to teach you this lesson, old man?!). Ranpo is an amazing detective, but can't plot against Fyodor, tending to be a step or two behind.
Without Dazai, sure Odasaku might write his book. But what then? And sure, Dazai made it (somehow) do that he'd survive up to then, but after that? Fyodor is still out there. Ranpo and Fukuzawa and Chuuya don't know about Fukuchi. Atsushi and Akutagawa attempted to emulate Soukoku once in the manga and they failed, and that was MAIN CANON. Not the terrifyingly depressing edgy dark bad end AU.
In short: I think the Beast AU is all about how even one person being missing from the narrative of life changes things drastically, sometimes we have to face loss and learn from it, and that it's pretty much set up so that no matter Dazai's ideas for the world, it won't last long, everything coming to a point where it was all in vain.
Like. Dazai. Dumbass. Light of my life. Yokohama's most brilliant idiot. You can't make sure things stay on course if you're dead. That's basic. And you just shut the game off at the Disc One Final Boss. With all due respect (which is none, here), everything is gonna get *squished.* They'll be lv20 going up against lv50 bosses with no guidebook.

Hello, anon! :D And thank you for your trust in my opinions!
[The following quotes from Beast!AU are from @looking-for-stray-dogs.
A complete translation of the novel was made by @yanase-gr.]
~ ~ ~
Dazai’s and Atsushi’s relationship in Beast is very complicated to begin with.
During their scenes Dazai is switching between being respectful towards Atsushi and then being pretty cold to him in the next moment.
Apparently Atsushi is allowed to do things other subordinates are not allowed to do. He actually calls Dazai “Dazai-san”, and not “boss”. Although, the hesitant way of him saying his name implies that he’s uncomfortable to do so:
“Thank you……very much, Dazai-san.”
Head still bowed, Atsushi said so in a nervous voice.
Immediately, Chuuya’s low voice interrupted. “Haah? Call him ‘Boss’, brat. You wanna be killed?”
Dazai must have either offered or ordered Atsushi to address him that way for whatever reasons. I doubt that Atsushi was the first to call him “Dazai-san” without being giving permission, since he has an awed and dependent perception of Dazai in Beast.
We know that Beast!Dazai has the knowledge of other realities/worlds, so he may want that subconsciously (being called “Dazai-san” by Atsushi), because he knows that in other realities/worlds he has a good relationship with him. Which is kind of a parallel when he sits with Beast!Odasaku in the bar and actually calls him “Odasaku” (much to Odasaku’s irritation), because he knows in another reality/world they were friends.
.
Another thing Atsushi is allowed to do is being alone with Dazai. Chuuya as his bodyguard opposes to both these exceptions, calling Atsushi out to be more respectful towards Dazai and not allowing anyone to be alone with him, since that person could be trying to kill Dazai:
“Now now, Chuuya, it’s fine,” Dazai said while crossing his legs. “More importantly, I want to speak to him alone. Chuuya, leave us for a while.” [...]
“What’re you talking about. A mere member not even an executive member or your secretary seeing you directly, that’s already the exception of exceptions.”
“Why? Atsushi-kun’s a trusted subordinate.”
“It’s not about trust. What’re you gonna do if he’s controlled by an Ability, or a bomb was planted on him without his knowledge? There were precedents. Impossible that I’d give you permission for you two to be alone.”
.
[...] Dazai made a wry smile, and he turned to face Atsushi. “Be at ease, Atsushi-kun.”
.
From what I understand from the fan translation is that in Beast Dazai also trained Atsushi. Of course, these sessions must have involved physical force, too. There is also the fact that in Beast Atsushi has to wear a spikey collar in order to suppress/control his tiger powers. Since he isn’t an ADA member there, and Fukuzawa with his ability cannot make him control the tiger, it’s the only way for him to do so. Otherwise he would be blindly going on rampages (which apparently did already happen in Beast), or he would be waiting inside a cage.
But I still doubt the training was as violent as between Canon!Dazai and Canon!Akutagawa. Because:
1.) Canon!Akutagawa disobeys Canon!Dazai’s orders (killing people he should not kill), for which he gets punished. This is something Beast!Atsushi does not do, he strictly follows Beast!Dazai’s orders. But more on that later.
2.) Beast!Odasaku says about Akutagawa‘s ability something like: “Your ability is strong, but you’re physically weak.” Something that’s also not the case with Atsushi, since he has the tiger’s regenerative powers and so on. So training him that violently may not be necessary for Beast!Dazai.
3.) Beast!Dazai planned from the very beginning to not let Beast!Atsushi stay forever in the PM:
There is the sound of clapping, and Dazai congratulates them.
“Atsushi-kun. You’re fired.”
Atsushi’s eyes widened for a moment from surprise, then he closed them immediately.
“……understood.”
“In exchange, go live in the outside world. I’ve made arrangements for somebody to take care of you. Go into the world of light, together with Kyouka-chan.”
.
“Dazai-kun must have, in his own way, been worried for you for after he’s gone.” − Beast!Mori to Beast!Atsushi
He made arrangements that he would live a better life, after the incidents of Beast. Contrary to the canon storyline, where Dazai did not have any plans to bring Akutagawa out of PM. Also because at that time, he himself thought that he would stay there forever. Leaving PM was an impulsively made decision due to Odasaku’s death and last wish, and he didn’t bring Akutagawa with him. All these circumstances do not happen in Beast, and Beast!Dazai’s plans differ greatly from his canon self.
So from Canon!Dazai’s mindset it was important to teach Akutagawa how things work in the Mafia, and that he won’t survive there, if he ever shows weakness. Which isn’t the case with Beast!Atsushi.
.
Even when Atsushi disobeyed Dazai one time (He went back to the orphanage and killed the headmaster, something which Dazai advised him against), Dazai seemingly didn’t punish Atsushi in any way. Because Atsushi was already punished in dealing with his trauma and guilt for killing the headmaster.
[Sidenote: Yes, even in Beast we have that stupid “AKSHUALLY the headmaster was a gOoD gUY uwu” narrative. Thanks, I hate it.]
It’s not mentioned anywhere that Atsushi was once punished by Dazai for anything or that he’s afraid of him in (physically) hurting him. Instead Atsushi begs Dazai for orders and states several times that he saved him:
“Please, order me, Dazai-san.” Somehow, Atsushi squeezed his voice out from behind trembling teeth. “Immediately. I will never again, go against your orders. Never, never, never.”
“I’ll believe that,” Dazai said while coolly looking down at Atsushi.
.
“That person [Dazai] saved me. He saved me from hell, and invited me to this organization. I will never betray that person’s orders.” [...] “He told me to join. Said that I’ll be granted what I wanted.”
Of course, their relationship in Beast is far from healthy and good. And it’s very shocking to read for the first time. But it’s also not as terrible and cruel as it was between Dazai and Akutagawa in the canon story. That of course, doesn’t make Atsushi’s mental state in Beast any better, and it doesn’t excuse Dazai’s treatment of Akutagawa in the canon story.
.
In addition to this, I think that Beast!Atsushi and Beast!Dazai truly care for each other. Atsushi is visibly devastated when Dazai is about to commit suicide. And Dazai, as mentioned above, made preparations to have Atsushi live a better life. It’s just that they have complicated circumstances. Beast!Dazai’s main goal is to keep Odasaku alive, because Beast is the only reality/world where this is possible (which kind of gives Odasaku the role of a martyr in other realities/worlds). But to achieve this, he has to make everybody else suffer and keep a cold facade:
“Yes, this is a natural phenomenon.” Dazai’s voice carried the accompaniment of fatigue that had been thinly extended. “Nobody can stop it, nobody can fight against it. Even I cannot— if there’s one thing we can do, it is to love it. The truth that this world is one huge lie.”
.
“It was dreadful,” the young man muttered. “It was really dreadful. To fight against Mimic without you, to have to succeed Mori-san, to make enemies of everyone and expand the organisation. It was all for this world’s—”
− Beast!Dazai to Beast!Odasaku
There is a sad parallel where Dazai says the following to Odasaku:
“A life with someone to say goodbye to, it’s a good life. If there’s someone who would feel pain from the goodbye, I’d wish for nothing more. Am I wrong?”
And the only person who actually feels sadness for Dazai’s death is Atsushi:
It was true that, after Dazai’s death, Atsushi hadn’t known what to do and had left Yokohama, refusing food, wandering in remote places. Even he hadn’t known why. But—he couldn’t help but do so.
.
“You didn’t want to die, you just didn’t want to live. They are two completely different things.” − Beast!Elise to Beast!Atsushi

(crime crossdressing dazai anon) "I'm personally always excited to hear other people's ideas for ADA Chuuya!" FULL STEAM AHEAD THEN YEEHAW!!!!
So this requires some reordering of events: mainly I'm placing the Dark Era a few months after the Dragons Head conflict, which makes them roughly 16/17. Also the Akutagawa siblings don't join the mafia, this becomes relevant later (also I hc that while the conflict didn't orphan the Akutagawas, it destroyed whatever orphanage/foster family they were living at at the time, forcing them onto the streets)
Anyways, the main divergence for the au is that after the Dragon's Head conflict, Dazai practically drags Chuuya to Bar Lupin because he was "being too depressed and that's Dazai’s job." Thus Chuuya becomes a part of the Buihara Trio (renamed the Buihara Squadro for reasons) and imprinting on Oda as an older brother figure (and Dazai’s a little jealous in the beginning but he figures that if he's sharing with the Slug its fine and definitely not because it makes Chuuya smile more)
During the Mimic fiasco, Chuuya is away on a mission out of Yokohama, but he manages to come back a couple days early. He's actually about to give his report to Mori when he runs into Dazai, who hurriedly tells him that Odasaku is in danger and they need to hurry. Oda's last words to Soukoku is to urge them to become better people in the light.
So they run away, and hunker down in a shelter in Suribachi city, because it's familiar territory for Chuuya and all of Dazai's safe houses are known to Mori. Dazai secretly gets them new paperwork through Ango (they're legally Nakahara Osamu and Dazai Chuuya, and they joke that they're husbands), and Chuuya picks up a stray cat and brings it home.
But the money runs out after two months in hiding, because Mori still controlled most of Dazai's accounts and rerouted the money to himself, shutting them down. So Chuuya got a job as an after hours janitor to a sketchy Walmart that doesn't do background checks and a second job as a barista at Cafe Uzumaki (the one underneath the ADA) and Dazai basically sold information to various law organizations.
During this time Chuuya meets Gin and Dazai meets Ryuunosuke respectively, remembering Oda, and Chuuya steals stuff from Walmart to give to Gin and Dazai takes Ryuu under his wing as an apprentice. Eventually the two move in, and it's pretty common to see the two reading books or playing Blackjack (Dazai taught them both casino tricks, Chuuya was pissed) at the Cafe while Chuuya was working.
Because Chuuya had formed a friendship with the ADA already, it's actually pretty painless for the Nakahara-Dazai family to join. Gin became a secretary since she didn't have an ability, but she does tag along and help with cases "under the table." Dazai and Chuuya also disclose to Fuluzawa in advance that they were former Port Mafia, but not their past status or title as Double Black (mainly because the Dep of Special Abilities or whatever put out a "Kill at Will" order on Soukoku).
Chuuya and Dazai's relationship is so much healthier. On the surface it appears to be the same with bickering and stupid prank wars, but they're much more vulnerable and honest with each other than in the mafia. The ADA taught them healthy communication, and it made their relationship so much better.
Chuuya is ride or die for his new family, and trusts them to have his back this time and not fall apart when he isn't looking (he also mother hens the younger members, giving him the office nickname of Chuu-niisan). Dazai is slowly learning to be more honest with the ADA and live for his family instead of throwing his life away (he's still as lazy as ever but the kids have learned, and Dazai has to bribe them with treats and things to do his paperwork). Ryuunosuke has a healthier relationship with Dazai, still idolizing him but also not putting up with any of his shit. Gin is thriving, and is trusted as the last member of Defense for the ADA (Chuuya taught her how to throw knives).
I have more but I think that's enough for now, expect more soon.
YESS I LOVE THIS ;; Anon I would read the heck out of this, I JUST WANT CHUUYA TO HAVE LOTS OF ALIVE FRIENDS also yes I want him mother henning everyone alksdfjsdkfj I also do love Chuuya interacting with Ango and Oda even if that's ow one more dead friend but still—aaaaaa

What fics do you like/read/recommend?
Difficult question, cause recommendations I can give but only very limited.
What I like? Slow Burn, Angst, Fluff, damn it I also read Smut sometimes, AUs (I mention something about that later). Basically: I want to suffer, I want to cry, but give me a happy ending. I LOVE good interpreted characters and I LOOOVE well-written relations. What I mean by that is, basically, if a sibling relationship is weirdly written, I tend to just.. not read the story at all. Does that make sense? Whatever.
While I read a lot, I rarely save what I read and more often than not I kind of.. lose half of the fics I read? There’s one I am currently obsessed with, which I found via @worstloki:
doubt truth to be a liar. absolutely amazing tbh. it’s about a younger Loki suddenly appearing in the Avengers Tower, without any memories about what happened (post Ragnarok), it’s got trans Peter & cultural differences between Asgard and Midgard I find quite interesting. Cause while I do know that comic Loki mentioned that the concept of gender and sexuality do not exist in Asgard the way they do on Midgard (I think that is what he said), I found the differences portrayed in that story very believable and also super interesting, cause I didn’t think of that? Especially interesting when you know a bit about the Viking age and its culture, which MCU Asgard clearly was set to resemble.
So, next I need to put a little disclaimer about myself: I normally do not like Reader fics, because more often than not they’re super ooc and I just find this whole.. “y/n” thing kind of offputting and it just makes me uninterested very often. However I have a friend who do likes these kind of stories. And she lets me know. And she needs someone to talk about these stories, so there’s that. And I read a handfull of them and tbh only those I actually find 1. well-written, 2. well characterised & 3. no darn use of “y/n”, cause no I never imagine myself there, I create characters in my head for each story.
A Job Million PRs Would Die For by @saiansha. Jesus fucking christ the amount of times I re-read this story. Honestly, it is, I think, the first Reader fanfic I read in my entire life, was super weary at first cause. idk. I know some people on this website (and AO3, let’s be real) that just post very weird stuff. This one has an interpretation of Loki that I can 100% believe and it is one I support. That was one of my main reasons to continue reading, but it’s also the general writing style that I like and that there’s a Reader character, who is not a helpless damsel in distress. Ultimate proof of that was the most recent chapter. (dear author knows my thoughts, I dared to dm cause I was just. very enthuasiastic about this story)
Broken Crown by @michelleleahhh. Second one I started reading at one point cause my friend kept asking me to read it. a kind-of AU? It’s set in Asgard. That’s what you need to know. Again, a story that had me from the beginning, once I started. For the writing style and for the characterisation. The story really had me guessing sometimes, cause,, well-written! and really good dialogue!! damn you Freya!! and a decent Reader character that doesn’t have me ripping out my own intestines. (also very enthusiastic about this story, yes this phrasing as a meaning)
Foruneyti by Evaldrynn or @foruneyti (I tagged the blog for the story here, too, don’t mind me pls) Also kind of an AU, basically just Asgard. Anyway, I am so in love with the aesthetic this story gives me. It’s hard to explain, but after 85 chapters I just have this very clear picture in my head of what I think this story looks like. Now, Reader here is also good and well-written, the Original Characters are likeable and not super overpowered, neither is Reader. The canon characters are, in my humble opinion, interpreted nicely and tbh for some reason I just always imagine them in this comic style, rather than the way the films portray them.
Of Different Emotions by @wanderingworldwarrior. my. goodness. I am in love with these stories and I am just. so desperate for an update. idk if we will ever get one, but honestly, I re-read it this week and. Just stopped after the second part, cause I can’t deal with the pain of the third part one more time. First part is set pre-Thor 1, second part is set during Thor 1 and the third during The Avengers. I love the Reader character a lot and the Original Characters just. belong so much to the story. idk I just love the way this story is written, I love the characters, I just love it a lot, alright.
Onwards to anime. Bungou Stray Dogs:
where your loyalties lie by writingfromtheshadows. this!! story!! it’s so good!! it’s a Yakuza!AU and oh my gooood. It’s all just so so well put, compared to canon and I love the dynamics Dazai and Chuuya have here.
Forgettable Significance by Witheryvine. THIS STORY. took my sanity, threw it out of the window and then spat on me. It broke my heart so very often, cause it manages to make you question yourself. morals about relationships out of the window. I re-read this story like five times.
still still still by toriosaurus. I was waiting, desperately, for every single chapter. This AU gives me everything I need and more. I remember doing fanart for this story and being very proud of it, even though it did no justice to the original story. Normally I am not a fan of, idk what to call it, no power AUs because most people just do the thing wrong for me. But this one hits.
If I recommend Twist and Shout now I get thrown into Turbohell, so idk if you want a very sinful Destiel fanfic, then read
Hot Water by Chiyume. I was 16, I decided to read Destiel fanfictions and this one kind of did it for me.
Don’t @ me. I really read a lot more than this, but I suck at organising myself and I just barely ever save shit. Also it’s late, I’ve been on a video call with my friend for over three hours now and I just like to clown when I am tired. Anyway, I used to bookmark Destiel fanfics back in the day and the rest is just. Read it, kudos, comment, and then I forget to save. The multichapter fics are often still in my subscribes, but sometimes. just.. not.

How do you think chuuatsu would happen in the beast at?
Ah, I’m not too well versed in Beast AU, I can only go by the manga that is ongoing but I’ll do my best.
--
Atsushi has been under Dazai even since he was ‘saved’ from the orphanage and have been through a different kind of hell because of it. Despite that though, in a way, Dazai saved Atsushi and that he can never fully be free from him because of that debt.
Now, Chuuya has his own reasons why he would be close to Dazai (two main ones are to serve him but ultimately kill him) but when Atsushi was in his care since Dazai had other things to do, he almost didn’t care about him. He didn’t hate him but wasn’t sure about him either. He assumed the other was brainwashed but as it turned out, Atsushi was just trapped in darkness his whole life, with no sense of hope of seeing the light. There wasn’t much Chuuya can do that didn’t involved betraying the mafia but he thought about knocking some sense into the user, showing him that the mafia isn’t all about killers and such. Their relationship as a whole gradually grew. From strangers to close acquaintances and finally friends. Friends not being a word taken lightly in the mafia but they are friends. Atsushi took up drinking before he was of legal age just like his boss but Chuuya made sure he wasn’t drinking himself silly. They would do to places and hang out, do some training and when Kyouka came into the picture, shopping. Now Chuuya knew that one day, someone will kill the Port Mafia boss and he sure as hell won’t have Atsushi do so even if he had every right to. The man who has toyed with him and used him should die by his hand first and only. He didn’t want Atsushi to bear that burden. He wanted him to have some form of happiness and he was surprised to find out that Atsushi had. He found happiness in the redhead.  Their relationship only deepened from there. It would only be a matter of time though when all hell breaks loose and Chuuya would left wondering if there was any meaning in his personal goal after all, when the boss finally fell from grace. Sooner or later, someone will have to be the boss. Sooner or later, it may be him to fill in those cursed shoes. However, unlike his late boss, he won’t be ruling alone. With no collar around Atsushi’s neck anymore and Kyouka finding a life outside of the mafia in the years to come, Chuuya can say that this was not the life that he thought he would had...but at least he can make it a bit better, for himself, for the Mafia and finally for a certain someone who slowly but surely took his heart. [Yeah, I tried ]

Im goin to sleep rn so i dont wanna do stuff but i want you to do this so have an untraditional tag
Tumblr media
Oooh, this was fun Lucy!! Thank you :D
Tumblr media
*I used orange as it’s one of my favourite colours XD
I’m going to explain them a little to say why I chose the shading I did! Or at least for most of the characters XD
Atsushi - I like him as a main character however I don’t have much attachment towards him beyond that so I only filled it up to around half-way. He’s kinda bland asadfdsasdfgfd maybe I shouldn’t say that but I can’t help but feel that way T-T
Dazai - The light of my Bungo Stray Dogs experience <3 I love Dazai a lot, he’s such a complex and interesting character and while the fandom frustrates me with how little they understand him which reflect a lot in their work about him, I still love him a lot and it hasn’t diminished my love for him. I get attatched to characters way too quickly and strongly T-T
Kunikida - I like him! I find his and Dazai’s dynamic really interesting. His ideals are a double-edged sword and we see time and time again on how often he’s confronted about them and how they’re constantly pulled into question.
Ranpo - Brat detective! I love him. He’s both the smartest member of the ADA and the dumbest and it’s such a combination T-T I am curious how he’d be able to solve a crime that relied on the knowledge of train times and tickets though considering he knows nothing about them...
Kyouka - Precious baby who must be protected at all cost. She’s cute and I’ve loved seeing her struggle to fit in with the armed detective agency. Her “first mission” is still one of the funniest things to watch. I’m kind of disappointed we haven’t had more Dazai and Kyouka bonding considering they’re both former members of the mafia.
Yosano - Waifu. I should have more shame in saying that but I can’t, I love her. That only grew even more when we got to learn her past and what she had to go through. It really makes you understand why she was so unforgiving towards Kaiji for his views on death when she fought him.
Chuuya - Short gremlin who I also care a lot for. His shading is brought down by the fact I’ve faced fatigue from the fandom using him as the mouthpiece to shame Dazai constantly and how the fandom ignores more of his negative (but very interesting) personality traits to do it. I also wish we got to see more of him in canon by I digress T-T
Akutagawa - He was like Atsushi for me at first, I liked him but found him a bit boring and so didn’t get really attached. But then the fandom happened, my lord does the fandom love to use what happened between him and Dazai to completely rip Dazai to pieces and yet then turn around and make Akutagawa and Kyouka best buddies <.< It’s like with Chuuya, the fandom ignores all his negative traits for some reason and hyperfocuses on Dazai’s instead and it’s tiring. I’ve grown to dislike Akutagawa because of that :(
Mori - I hate Mori but I do appreciate his character. He’s a horrible person but he’s not bad for the sake of it, he has reasons for why he is the way he is even if those reasons are fucked up logicial reasons. He’s an interesting villain to say the least (I just wish the fandom would stop turning him into Mafia Dad. Guys, Hirotsu is right there and has adopted four children already *I’m including Higuchi and Akutagawa*).
Oda - Oda revival when? asadfgfdsdfg I love Oda. I mourn for him very strongly because I want him back so bad but most people don’t write fix-it aus for him (I’m going to have to be the change I want to see T-T). I love him, he’s so interesting and I can see why Dazai was fascinated with him too. Shading brought down by the fact I’m sad he’s dead D:
Ango - Ango is another interesting character for me. I don’t like him but I appreciate his character. I know he’s not a bad person, in fact he’s going out of his way to help the ADA clear there name and helping Dazai despite how antagonistic Dazai feels about him and I appreciate him for that. But I’m still salty about the Oda thing T-T I also hate how the fandom have this bizarre insistance that Dazai should forgive him and move on (and yet other characters don’t have to do the same for Dazai) so my like is also brought down by that.
Francis - I liked him as a villain and I don’t mind his role as a mostly neutral entity in the story so far. Out of everything Francis wanted, bringing back his dead daughter wasn’t what I expected. I’d be interested in how he met Lovecraft because that seems like a story.
Poe - Lanky mystery goth/nerd who’s crush on Ranpo is really cute T-T I love his and Ranpo’s dynamic, it’s cute. Poe is just cute, if you looked up cute in a dictionary you’d see Poe’s picture next to it. Have I said cute enough yet?
Fyodor - Another villain I enjoy! I like smart villains and so I actually did enjoy the ADA and the PM teaming up to take him down in season 3. I want to learn more about him, though I do admit I was a bit put off with him when he and Dazai were able to speak in code somehow despite no code even existing between them...
The rest - There shading is based on how much I enjoyed their roles in the story so far rather than characterization. They don’t really have much characterization beyond Lucy and Oguri who aren’t exactly stand out characters for me. I’d be interested in learning more about Gin and her bond with Akutagawa but it’s kind of ignored and pushed to the side :(
