Eventually he gets to Ireland and Kevin’s not really paying any attention to him until Neil says a word like ‘thank you’ or ‘goodbye’ and he freezes up in the corner of the room.

Andrew notices straight away obviously and stops Neil but then Kevin just starts to cry.

When Kevin’s mother was alive she would call him pet names in Irish, and use some Irish words sporadically here and there when she was speaking, like most Irish people do, and he hasn’t heard anyone speaking Irish since she passed away. Thank you is one of those phrases that a lot of Irish people use day to day just to keep the language alive, and it was always one of those things she made him say as a younger kid to help her feel close to home.

Nobody really knows what to do, and he’s not sure whether he’s happy or sad or both or neither, but just hearing the language out loud causes such a visceral reaction for him that he can’t help it. It’s the first time in a while he’s caught himself thinking, I miss my mom.

I've seen ppl hc him speaking languages like Spanish, Italian, Portuguese or Dutch, so I'd like to know if there's any language u particularly like to hc him speaking. OKAY

Simpler answer first-- When I wrote in the "othenic" language, I never really thought of phrases or words for it, it's just another lesser know language of the world. My head imagines to have a sort of heavier touch on consonants, like Maya or Nahuatl, and a certain speaking rhythm that would make it sound musical, similar to Irish or Italian. But no actual phrases.

I headcanon Otheon having its own language typically, with English as the sort of European tether (as I've noticed in european media. Most people have like conversational English down pretty early on). HOWEVER---

So, when I saw Otheon in WHM, I sort of gasped and teared up a little bit because it looks so similar to my city in Mexico. The colorful houses, the tin roofs, the mountainous region with trees.

To the left is Sierra Ventana, where one of my great grandmas lives. I visit her every time I go to Mexico (hold on I think I even have photos I took last summer because the Rodydeku brainrot had already gripped me by the throat)

So, of course I started projecting a lot of Mexican culture concepts onto Rody. That's why in "To End Up with You" he uses the phrase "Pampa nimitzlazohtla nochi no yollo." It's actual Nahuatl, one of the native tongues of Mesoamerica (the Aztecs, specifically). Like, yeah, he's European, but what if, y'know?

Okay, so now a deeper nosedive into my Rody Soul analysis.

I feel like we all forget that Rody was kinda rich before his dad was killed, so I think he managed to get a bit of schooling before they were run out. That makes me think that he had to be bi or trilingual at a young age, maybe not perfectly, but for sure enough to get by, especially on the streets.

Add to that the fact that a lot of europeans learn multiple languages because of how close so many other countries are to each other and how easy it is to travel between them (it's like an hour??? hello??? I drive an hour, I'm still in my fucking CITY).

I think I do kind of have Spanish and French as a given because of that, I mean they're very popular languages. And then Italian is pretty easy to comprehend if you know those two since the three are very intertwined and similar. Portuguese is super similar to Spanish as well, just with a throatier sound (like the French), so I think he'd at least be able to understand those at a surface level.

Of course, I headcanon he teaches himself Japanese because of Izuku, and since I'm teaching myself (with duolingo and some workbooks and music ksjfka), that's why I'm so specific about Rody being better about understanding when he hears it slowly, but not really being able to read Kanji much less write it. Also why Roro is a bit better at speaking it than Rody (living where the language is spoken really forces you to figure it out lmfao); he's had way more practice. Actually, if you pay attention, when Izuku describes Roro speaking, he describes it as proper, over-pronounced, and a bit choppy. But when Rody describes it, he considers it very flowy, even if it's not as fast as Izuku's. That was just the perspective since Izuku of course is a native speaker and Rody is just really fascinated with how quick his brother picked it up.

ALSO because English is a learned language in Otheon in my headcanon, I imagine that Rody also has an accent when speaking English!!!! And of course Izuku has one as well. I love accents. I love cultures. I love languages. And I love this couple because of how much I get to play with that, especially with expressions of affection, things lost in translation, creating a new language to let them say things. Like the Nahuatl Rody speaks, he describes as something you say to suggest a bond, a deep-rooted connection, etc. But the literal translation is "Te quiero con todo mi corazon" which, again, can't even be correctly translated into English since there's no word for "te quiero." Though the closest would be "I love you with my whole heart."

I also think Rody would love to learn other languages when he becomes a pilot, like at least enough to have a conversation even if he can't exactly read or write it, which is why I added Arabic and Hindi to the fic when he talks about languages. I think he'd want to get a good grasp on some of the most spoken languages in the world. I also think he'd like to learn Hebrew and Greek just because I think they're really pretty.

God, there's so many languages, and in a perfect world, he'd know them all at least a little, but ah well. I do think he'd really admire other languages, Dutch, German, Swahili, and all the ones that don't get quite as much love, you know?

Sadık is an unique name. I never met a Sadık in my life. It means loyal. Adnan is usually a name, not a surname. It’s an old name, people don’t name their sons Adnan anymore. Both names are pretty masculine sounding. “Sadık” is pronounced S, A in dark, Dı is read the same as the word “the”, K is normal. Adnan is pretty easy, all As in our language are the same.

Sadiq is not a real name, we don’t have q in our alphabet. But I understand that people don’t know this so I forgive u guys 😙

Do I like his name? Tbh the first time I’ve seen it I didn’t, but I like it now. I can’t imagine him having a different name.

I have a few headcanons of him!!!

First of all, this man is LOUD. Like he is not shouting obv, but he talks loudly, energetically, and a little fast paced. He is extroverted, he can carry a conversation easily, and I can see him being “the dominant one” in a convo if it makes sense. Like u don’t have to worry about finding a topic bc Sadık naturally finds it.

His voice is deep.

He is friendly, but he doesn’t share his romantic life if it’s not a close friend. I can see him being close w Balkan countries, Bulgaria especially. A lot of Turks came to Turkey from Bulgaria in 50s and 90s (bc yk Ottoman Empire was there) But I think his personal relationship with Balkans doesn’t get affected by foreign policies. Bc fuck governments and politics. Anyways LOL. He is friends with Russia too. I read some RusTur fanfics? I don’t even know the name of the ship but it was fucking hot. He likes Europeans, Germany is his fave, but he isn’t close with them. Greece will have his own section 😉

He lives in Istanbul, in Anatolia side. He just can’t escape this city he loves it so much even tho it’s overpopulated.

LETS TALK ABOUT OSMANLI OMG. So yk Mr. Adnan is friendly softie etc etc. But Osmanlı was different! I think his personality changed after the Turkish War of Independence and the Republic has founded. He had to change himself, we the people had to change ourselves to fit the modern Western world.

But at it’s prime Sadık was crueler, focused on wars and fighting and conquering, making his Empire bigger. He has seen many things. Had to betray, manipulate. He was impatient, cunning, cynical. He was never cold though. I think he was always sincere, like yeah his words hurt but he was telling the truth. I don’t like portraying him evil, like a villain. He doesn’t have a bad heart. He knows how to have a good time if u are his friend.

I think he got THE drip bro. Like his clothes were the most expensive fabrics, sewn by the best tailors.

His sexuality hmmm well 🤔 I think he likes woman but Osmanlı was really gay at that time. Lots of gossips about bisexual Sultans. So I hc him as bi leaning to woman. He loves woman but he bedded many manyyyyy men yk. Especially when he was younger and sexier and he fucked some Sultans with their wives. I think their dynamic was like Romano-Spain. Boss and ??? Child??? I think Hera never did housework though. Humans already did that. When Hera was little, he hated Sadık. But as he spent time w him, he liked him a little bit. Sadık taught him many things, but he never saw him as his “son” or “student” it’s just. It was a land under Osmanlı, and Sadık wanted to know him. He looked after him of course, and he enjoyed his company. Telling him stories, traveling Istanbul, talking philosophy. We all know Hera loves philosophy. I also think they didn’t spend a lot of time anyway, Sadık was too busy.

Today, they pretend to hate each other but they don’t actually hate each other?? Wowneifnifj. It’s like Turkey vs Greece memes. Like they make fun of each other but it’s teasing, it’s not mean, both went through so many things. They both suffered n they understand each other.

AND TURKEY TOUCHES PEOPLE. A LOT. He hugs n slaps n pokes. Hera is used to it. Turks are touchy in general, including men. No boundaries at all. I’m glad Hima put this in the comic :D

Please forgive me in advance for writing so much, although this is only a small part of my headcanons, btw many of these I took from other authors from various fanfics😅

So:

‌He is of European aristocratic descent on his mother's side, while on his father's side he is of Australian indigenous descent.

‌He really misses his mother, although he barely has full memories of her and remembers only motif from the lullaby she sang to little Jamie. He doesn't remember his father.

‌Since his mother was one of the commanders in the ALF, 5-year-old Jamie had the opportunity to see her comrades and colleagues, so he subconsciously remembers Roadhog.

After his mother's death, all his childhood and adolescence he lived in a shack of another family, where he was abused by his guardian. That time traumatised him pretty much + trust issues.

‌His only source of serotonin back then was engineering and experimenting with omnics leftovers and other scrap metal. His rapid and mathematical thinking has developed so much that now he has a great skill and can compete even with Symmetra. Pyromania, by the way, stuck to him in the process of learning mechanisms.

‌Junkrat made his prostheses by himself. He lost his hand while escaping from a rapist back in a foster family. His leg was later blown off while working with handmade mines.

‌Junkrat also knows a little bit of one of the local native languages.

‌Due to the violence in his childhood, constant survival in the Outback and not quite friendly place like Junkertown, Jamie has developed paranoia - on occasions he equips his sleeping place with traps, mines, in the city he tries to encrypt (although sometimes he fails🙈). Anyway, one of the reasons why he was looking for a bodyguard.

‌Now here its a matter of taste, but thanks to the fic Tis the Vermins Will, I've started to headcanon Jamie as intersex.

‌Because of the radiation, Junkrat is surprisingly one of the few people in the Outback who is fertile.

‌Despite ppl hc him who doesn't like to bathe, i see him as the one who loves to wash himself and takes every opportunity to clean up. In the Outback and Junkertown ppl have problems with water, so bathing was considered a luxury. But during the world heist Jamie started to have fun - bath bombs, bath foam, candles and other beauty products - he enjoyed every bit of those.

‌Though his workplace is always full of mess.

‌After he and Hog traveled across the world, saw different countries, cultures, fashions, etc., he slowly started to accept himself and to highlight his advantages. Before he rarely paid attention to what he was wearing, but after the world heist even Hog began to experiment with style. So Jamie wasn't far behind and started wearing more fitted clothes, adding bright colors to his look, accessories and moreover handmade charcoal shadows to make what he called "smokey-bombie-eyes".

I also saw somewhere that Junkrat is supposedly writing a book (novel), and that it's canon. However I haven't found the source, so lets say its headcanon for now. What is definitely a canon is that Jamie keeps a diary. And he actually has a quite wide vocabulary so he can speak in pretty sophisticated sentences with ease.

He obviously has ADHD.

‌Due to constant explosions, he has impaired hearing and tinitus. ‌He also suffers from both phantom pains and itching.‌

So, these were probably mostly headcanons that well known inside the community, but I hope it was at least a little entertaining to read. And also I wanted to thank you for asking - it was nice to recall all of that and share with you 💚

I have a very important question to ask, so let me slide into your inbox real quick! Does Trystan ever properly introduce Nora to the Drakovian / Eastern European culture? What does he show her? What are her impressions? 👀❤️

Oh HECK YESSSSSSSS

I hate what canon did so much I am going to pull a Thanos and snap it out of existence. Here's a little HC of how that goes (and yes I'm breaking them down into categories)

Disclaimers: - these are just my hcs!!!! - take a shot everytime I say "cantonese" or "drakovian" (please don't)

Literature: Trystan loves feeding in little tidbits about his culture wherever he finds it plausible. Mostly he enjoys quoting Drakovian literature and stuff he's read in the past - things that resonated with him deeply. He does so over a voice message or dinner or really, any given situation and he loves LOVES to share them. Nora's not the reading-type as in someone you'd expect to pick up reading for a hobby and instead she likes listening to Trys as he goes off on tangents about how a case might be relevant to a quote he read a long time ago or things just remind him of home in some way.

TV and Film: Nora's introduction to Drakovian culture is largely dependent on how the royals perceive it, so Trystan makes it a point to introduce her to a bunch of different films (and yes, in the off chance the films aren't dubbed or subbed, he pauses it every now and then to supply translations). It's easier for Nora to grasp (given she gravitates towards films a lot) and she ends up liking films with a lot of contemporary themes. I hc Drakovian films usually tend to gravitate towards historic themes or comedy-with-hidden-commentary and in terms of TV shows, a fraction of them might tend to gravitate towards procedural/workplace dramas and psychological/crime thrillers that might have a more serialized, seasons-spanning model or TV shows based on plays. Nora will eat that up entirely because if there's one thing she loves besides films, she loves when shows are these episodic collection of stories. She also ends up really liking some Drakovian feel-good stuff too - with the storylines (I hc) focusing on themes of "coming back home", road-trip comedies, stories set in small-towns that reflect upon the country's heritage, black comedies set in cities or this niche genre of "old person tries to keep up with today's world" or just these really mundane little ideas packaged into their own stories. They're not all "murders and daggers" cmon, let's be real.

Onto my absolute favourite part - THE LANGUAGE: Besides getting to know tid bits here and there from film and books, Trystan loves just teaching Nora a couple handy words in Drakovian. I'd like to think he did teach her a few words - just the basics when they went to talk to Bird in Book 1 (to really hammer in that good cop/bad cop routine) and once Nora reciprocated that interest back, he was like "YES now here's a couple of swear words you need to start off with" (jk jk) The reason why Nora showed an interest was largely due to the commonality she drew between her native language - Cantonese and Drakovian - and especially how they have these certain unique phrases that can't just be translated, even though Cantonese and Drakovian have very little similarities in terms of grammar or sentence structure. However they are both tonal languages (I hc Drakovian does focus on tones but it's not heavily dependent and a native speaker would be able to discern the differences without any confusion) which calls for some hilarious moments where Nora overpronounces Drakovian words and gets super focused on the tones and Trystan's like "Nora, it is okay! You can relax!" Both of them, when they're good to share, kind of introduce each other to their native languages. Normally Nora struggles with emphasizing her "r's" (she grew up speaking Cantonese at home and English in school) because Cantonese doesn't have the "r" sound and well, Drakovian takes incredible pride in enunciating your "r's" as much as possible. And how does Trystan help her with it? Swears. It's almost satisfying to exclaim in Drakovian than it is in English because there's about a hundred different ways to put your excitement as well as disappointment (sometimes both) out there. The day Nora ends up dropping something - possibly a cup of coffee and loudly swears in Drakovian is also the day Trystan's just crying tears of joy, full on happy breakdown, in the background. Conjugations suck. Forgetting English for a bit here, Cantonese from what I have gathered, doesn't have conjugations for verbs, instead there are characters that go before or after the word to indicate a specific tense. It's a bit of an uphill climb for Nora to go through this spiel because Drakovian swears by verb conjugations which makes up at least a fraction of its already complicated grammar rules. So yes, even though Nora knows this little "language exchange" thing they've got going on is something both of them really treasure in their relationship, she's one grammatically-incorrect sentence away from screaming.

Culture, traditions and so on: Trystan isn't just a walking encyclopedia of his country's traditions, rather quite literally a valuable resource for the Agency's cases. I'd like to think Drakovians who come to America end up settling in parts of the East Coast or perhaps uber-rich business conglomerates based in Drakovia gravitate towards parts of NYC for well, business reasons. While it isn't a considerable population compared to larger demographics, there is still a population comprised of business owners, celebrities, wealthy magnates and so on who might be interested in employing the services of a one private detective agency (and the endorsement by an exiled prince boosts their credibility too) The Agency do find themselves tackling a lot of high-profile cases and assisting big-name corporate law firms. Trystan's abundance of knowledge in Drakovia's culture and economics - and even some parts of Eastern Europe (thanks to trade and ambassador parties) helps Nora understand the nuances even better. A big lesson for her to learn - ever since the Agency gained traction after the Hand of Mahra case - was to discern between two different clients. A case is intrinisically unique on its own and factors such as economic, culture and society plays an additional role that gives her substance to go on with. It's how she learns more about Sonja in the first place and Drakovia's extensive history with art. Tidbits like that give her so much additional insight to carry on with. Eventually she just really ended up liking Trystan's stories (partly because he's a very good storyteller) - more than what he did as a kid and emphasis on what he saw. They kind of found a solace within each other's cultures because Nora learned the more Trystan kept talking about his, the more he tended to forgive himself for and the more Nora talked about her culture - be it through food or language or film or virtually anything she wished to share - she kind of began embracing her background instead of associating it with her trauma and wanting to ignore it entirely. Their heritage is super important to them. Trystan's family prided themselves over how their culture cannot simply be "shared around" and Nora's parents struggled to build themselves a home away from home in America, whilst ensuring their daughter didn't forget her culture. How they perceive their cultures is so rooted in their familial relationships that of course, it's going to be difficult trying to distinguish the stuff you want to forget from the culture you were brought up with. Partly why they (mostly Nora, because she doesn't like talking all that much) encourage the other to just talk about these things. It took them a while to realize even though they had completely different upbringings, they still had a couple things in common.

And lastly, the People and Places: One thing I really liked about Crimes 2 was the People's Garden scene where Trystan's just rambling about the places he loved as a kid and it's such a gateway into giving Nora an insight more than books, tv, movies, food, music etc. (They literally say that canonically too, if I'm not wrong - about wanting to take MC and give them a tour of their home) and it's like absolutely imperative to Trystan for Nora to have her experience it. Not many opportunities arise for them to go back home, but Trystan makes do with places in New York. From pubs to sociable gatherings, Trystan happens to know - and do some of his own finding-and-gathering to figure out the best scenes. He has a group of his own friends who run restaurants, bars, manage parks and so on and it's the best place for Nora to really understand what the culture is like, rather than see it from a royal/monarchial standpoint. And Nora ends up making a few friends on her own. It's great!

Out of all the avenues, Nora especially connects with the places and the language the best. Obviously it's a slow process. It took them eons to actually open up and even more so for Nora to see Trystan as Trystan and not as an exiled prince/diplomat/top-dog person or as a workplace colleague rather just a really really good friend of hers.

Them taking the time and effort to finding commonalities and compromises made them not only strong as a team (in terms of the job) but just bring them a lot more closer. Who felt romantic feelings first?

Texas definitely misunderstands his feelings and has trouble expressing them, so they manifest as negative emotions. Alaska is definitely not romantic in a traditional way but I can see him doing something "sweet" for Texas in his own way and Texas being all *heart eyes*. Examples may include: letting him borrow one of his parkas during Winterpocalypse '21 and checking in on him to make sure he's staying warm, giving him half of a deer he's hunted because "you looked hungry and I just shot this," and introducing him to Fat Bear Week which Texas is now obsessed with and watches religiously.

What's their height difference? Age difference?

I HC Texas as being tall, but within the realm of "normal," around 6'3 or 6'4. Alaska, on the other hand, is pushing the limits of being "abnormally" tall. He's around 6'8 or 6'9. He towers above most people, not quite basketball player tall, but definitely tall enough to get stares and feel uncomfortable in small spaces. (My partner is super tall and there's lots of things he experiences differently bc of it.)

It's kinda "canon" that states are the continuation of their territories (at least in Florida's case- "remember when I was a Spanish colony for like 200 years? That was weird, right?") So with that logic, Texas is *pretty damn old*. I don't think any of them have much memory of their earliest years, but Texas as a European colonial construct is definitely pushing 350 years old. Alaska is harder to pin down, but assuming the same "rules" you could argue he's around 200-250ish. You know Texas uses the "I'm older!" excuse with Alaska, even though in many cases, he's the less mature one... and Alaska just laughs.

Who takes the lead in social situations?

Texas 100%. Texas is Alaska’s adopted extravert. (Every introvert needs one.) Texas can make friends literally anywhere; like they’ll be shopping at a Home Depot and Texas will disappear for awhile, leaving Alaska standing in the middle of the aisle absent-mindedly staring at lightbulbs. When he goes looking for Texas, he’s standing in the paint aisle with three new best friends and an invitation to the bar later. 

Who gets jealous easier?

Texas for sure. Alaska is much more secure in himself and in the relationship. Texas is a very insecure person, even though he will never admit it. Sometimes he’ll see Alaska in his element being a total badass and have a brief panic like “what does he see in me?” 

What are their primary love languages?

Alaska’s are Acts of Service and Quality Time. He shows affection by doing *things* for people, helping them out and making sure they’re safe. He also enjoys just spending time being in the same space with Texas, even if he doesn’t say a word. (It’s okay, Texas does enough talking for both of them). Texas’ are Quality Time and Physical Touch. He understands that Alaska doesn’t say much, or openly express his feelings, but it’s okay; he has other ways of showing it. 

How often do they cuddle/engage in PDA?

They don’t really do PDA, but in private they like to cuddle a lot. Alaska is just a massive bear of a man so I imagine he’s pretty cuddly. Their temperature dynamic is interesting too. When Texas gets too hot, he gets close to Alaska to cool down. Vice versa, Alaska always appreciates how warm and sunny Texas is, especially in the middle of winter. 

Do they prefer verbal or physical affection? 

As mentioned earlier, Texas is the talker of the two. But he understands that Alaska doesn’t really do verbal affection, showing his love in other ways.

Oh man I have so many of these. I could do one JUST about his archetypes, but I'll keep this one more broad.

Headcanon A: Realistic

As one of the youngest members of the Psychonauts (He can't claim the 'youngest' title, Lili beat him to it), he's also one of the most renowned by the time he's an adult. He's featured in True Psychic Tales on a regular basis, and he still buys all the issues (and frames the ones he's in). Also he speaks German, Russian, and Grulovian, as well as a smattering of other European languages.

Headcanon B: while it may not be realistic it is hilarious

My adult version of Raz has a coat with three glass gems hanging from the back and one from the zipper pull-- or they STARTED as glass. Later on in life while on a mission, he found a suspiciously familiar blue gem-- one of the ones from the Gzar's crown. After the Grulovian royalty pawned off their jewels to maintain their lifestyles, the gems themselves were removed and ended up going around among shady rich people as status objects. Raz, as a half-Grulovian, decided to make a point to steal these back. So this mf is running around with thousands of dollars' worth of gems on his patchy-ass coat until he can find a Grulovian museum curator to give them to, to restore some of his country's heritage. It's a personal sidequest. Nobody else knows about this fact, because he's pretty sure Hollis would pop a gasket.

Headcanon C: heart-crushing and awful, but fun to inflict on friends

Raz has this odd fear of having someone give him a mental checkup. Even ten years later, he's been evading Hollis to avoid the mandated check-up, but he knows it's healthy and doesn't really know why it makes him so nervous. It's because he doesn't fully realize that his archetypes are more than just archetypes, he's plural. One of those sides, a side he's afraid to acknowledge, sounds an awful lot like that part of his nona's life they try not to talk about...

Bonus kinda-sad HC: In spite of being in TPT numerous times, and being every kid's favorite camp counselor, and never failing a mission, Raz is constantly surprised when people recognize his hard work, and ALWAYS forgets he's been in TPT when someone brings it up. He cannot fathom being recognized for his work. (And as a side-effect of his checkup-dodging, Hollis has a stack of 'Employee of the year' certificates she hasn't been able to give him yet).

Headcanon D: unrealistic, but I will disregard canon about it because I reject canon reality and substitute my own.

I'm never one to disregard canon, but I'm gonna go ahead and insist that Raz can still use invisibility and shield, and eventually figured out how to do the throwing-knife-form Psi-blasts because they're AWESOME and I love them. Raz experiments with powers and has been encouraged by Sasha a number of times to get a degree or write a thesis, which he's considered but doesn't really get why he'd put in the time to write when he could be on missions, and anyway he's sure someone else has figured these things out too (They haven't).

Ok since you're apparently tall asf (and consider me envious I WISH I could reach my highest kitchen cabinets without a stepping stool) how tall is the ideal trump card? Is 7ft enough height difference or does the werewolf need to be on stilts? 🤣

Hans is very theatrical, as we know, and I always imagined him not really knowing anything about commanding, fighting, and military stuff in general past firing his guns (and kicking huge explosives without them detonating ig). So if Hans and Pip ended up in a fight Hans would just run around doing backflips and shit while Pip would try to yell at him what to do so he doesn't get hurt. I think it would be great in an AU where he joins the wild geese a bit before the events of Hellsing. I Imagine Hans just rushing head first into a fight, having something blow up in his face and Pip going through all stages of grief before he sees that Hans just turned into mist before the explosion. This one is pretty subversive because you'd imagine Hans being the more serious Captain and Pip being not that good at it (tbf idk what he wanted to accomplish by waisting all ammo and explosive they had when the Hellsing mansion was stormed, my dude if you know the vampires are hiding behind hills just stop spamming till they're out smh)

Not really a headcannon but the fact that they both have the status of captain - cute af, great dynamic, maybe if you disregard the previous point they fight who's the better one.

This headcannon is something that kinda goes for every supernatural Hellsing OC I ever made and Anderson. If both Captains were at the Hellsing manor and Alucard was being a "vampiric asshole" Hans would just decapitate him as some fucked up version of "shut up and go away >: (". Idk why I just find it so fucking funny.

Hans and Pip swap uniforms often. Not much of an explanation for this one, just think it would be cute as hell.

Idk why I feel like Hans would be very shy when he's with Pip around other people, at least for some time he would be the stoic cinder block merging with the background like he is in the anime, but after a bit he would soften up. No smiles in public untill the first month, it's not his fault that he's no whore 😔

Pip is obviously the more social one, so whenever they go anywhere he does all the talking, but doesn't pretend that Hans is just not there, he's just more like "yeah that's me and my mute boyfriend" but he'd definitely jokingly tease him with shit like "c'mon at least smile" or "What? You don't even know sing language now? Mal, mal mal..."

Pip is a rainbow pride flag kinda guy and Hans is a mlm pride flag kinda guy (if you know you know)

This one is stupid and silly as fuck but, at least to me, the wolf-wolf form, ya know, the giant fucking dog form of Hans from the begging of his fight with Seras? Yeah that one. My Personal Andrew, Neil and/or Andreil Headcanons Part 1:

(Warnings: These are my personal hc and might be unpopular with others, please be polite if you leave a comment.)

Andrieil are Soulmates. By choice and fate and fate and choice…

They never say I love you and they don’t secretly want to(though I do like stories where they do say it), the words simply hold no meaning to them at least not a good meaning.

^Neil knows when Andrew tells him “I trust you” and “I believe you” it means more than “I love you” ever could.

^Andrew knows when Neil tells him “I’ll stay” and Neil makes promises he keeps; it means more than I love you ever could.

When Andrew says I hate you or 101% he doesn’t mean I love you. I know a lot of people hc that; but I personally hc that if Andrew meant “I love you” then he would fucking say that not hide it behind other words and same goes for Neil.

Andrew is the only person who knows every name Neil has ever had, who knows the story behind every scar, knows every skill Neil has and every language Neil speaks. Neil has willingly given his everything to Andrew like Andrew has given his everything to Neil. They know everything about each other(all revealed over their entire ass life together(they’re together their entire lives!). Not because they have to but because they want too. And that’s on being soulmates!

Andrew is a pagan/witch/Wiccan(developed an interest while still in foster home).

I hc that Andrew and Neil learn dozens more languages, some the same and some different ones. Persian and Arabic language are Andrew’s(Andrew’s memory means he’s better at writing and reading other languages) thing and European and Asian languages are Neil’s.(Saw this in a fic and fell in love with it).

^Not the reason given in the fic but Andrew being drawn towards the more dark intense languages just make sense to me(Arabic romance poems seem intense and soulful, they give Andrew).

Why do you emphasize needing to think Very Hard about the specific ethnicity and culture and how hard “losing the culture” is for “poc” when… shouldn’t you be doing that for all characters. Like what ethnicity are the “white” characters (why do you list martin as mixed filipino (specific) and white (very unspecific… polish? english? what?)). You’d need to research a Russian character, tho they’re “white.” My dad is a European immigrant to the US and I don’t know how to speak his native language, which hurts, so why are you making it seem like that sort of thing is only an experience “poc” have?? it’s just a bit silly.

1. to address hc-specific concerns: i list martin as mixed filipino and white because that is how i headcanon him. that is how i self-identify, being mixed european to the point where it's tedious to list out every single country of origin. my headcanon for him is similar. many many people today identify as white without getting into specifics.

2. i'm literally not saying that's an experience only poc have. i'm talking about poc with that experience because it's what i feel comfortable calling attention to, and because i see way more of white authors trying to overstep boundaries by writing about poc. i completely understand that that is an experience for white immigrants as well, as someone who has jewish family that assimilated and is trying to regain that culture, but nowhere did i say that it was exclusive to poc. you are choosing to feel victimised by that post because i didn't specifically mention white immigrants. please think on why that is and whether you need to be at the center of a conversation that was initially about poc.

furthermore, while i get that assimilation can be incredibly painful for white immigrants and their families, most european cultures are celebrated in the united states. it's considered perfectly normal for many european foods to exist in public spaces, but when i brought filipino food to school as a kid, i experienced a boatload of racism. there is a privilege that comes with white immigration that does not for nonwhite immigration—when people speak negatively about immigrants, they almost never mean white immigrants. and besides that, poc who are immigrants or closely related to immigrants have to deal with both immigration issues and issues related to how we look, the language types we speak, etc.

which is not to diminish your experience, but for many european kids, it is always going to be different than it is for those of us with nonwhite features and cultures. there is a difference!! and it feels really disingenuous to me to lump those groups in without discerning the two.

3. it seems like you've gone through a lot of my posts and fanfic to make this ask, and i just want to say in the most genuine way possible, none of me saying "hey what if we put thought into writing and drawing poc" was meant to diminish your experience, but to bring attention to what i and many other poc in the fandom have been trying to bring up for months. i would also encourage you to take a breather before sending any more asks, because i know this is a really sensitive topic for a lot of people.

sometimes when i write, it's not going to be about a certain group of people, and i think that's okay. sometimes when i write, it's going to be centered around my own experiences as a marginalised person, and i also think that's okay. will i try and branch out to write the experiences of others? absolutely! that's why i've put as much research as i have into jon, sasha, and tim's ethnicities as i've written them, and into sasha's identity as a transfeminine person. but anon, i don't owe anyone thoughts on white immigration and loss of european cultures if i don't feel like i have anything to say on the topic. and i'm allowed to talk about poc on a post and just our experiences if that's what i feel is important to bring up.

i hope this is something to think about for you, and i hope you're able to see past your initial thoughts on the matter and try to understand where i'm coming from. my intent was never to ignore or negate anyone's experiences, and i'm sorry if you felt that it was. however, i still agree with my post's original wording, and i don't feel the need to include white people in a post that is explicitly about poc's experiences. i would again also suggest that you take a moment to consider why you feel the need to try and stake your claim to this conversation and this debate when your family's immigration experience is likely very different from many of ours. it is okay to talk about your own experiences, but there are conversations and avenues for that, and it feels really harmful to try and edge your way into ours when we already are ignored so much of the time. thanks

Severus, was the peculiar child's name, she learned it from Narcissa when discussing the ongoing events in Hogwarts (Particularly what was going on with Lucius, who he was dating, how many quaffles he scored in the last quidditch game, etc.)

Severus was quiet, almost mute, she observed. He was also tiny. Smaller than every first year in his class. He didn’t run and play with the other 1st years. He was always flinching as if someone was going to jump out and cause him harm. 

There was one occasion where Aurora came down and found Severus curled up on the couch holding a worn potions book. Her heart went out to how unguarded he looked, how vulnerable. Eventually, she put a throw blanket over him and went to a nearby window sill to watch the magical creatures swim by.

At the end of the year she received 11 OWL’s (She missed DADA by a few questions.)

Is the popular headcanon that Nicky was illiterate, stupid and barbaric fitting in the stereotypes about Southern Europeans / Mediterraneans ? I’m guessing it’s from the American part of the fandom that’s choosing to not respectfully write Nicky since he is white while being virulent towards anybody that doesn’t perfected and accurately write Joe because he is MENA.

Mind you, I am neither a psychologist, a sociologist nor a historian, so of course be aware these are my own views on the whole drama.

But to answer your question, yes, I personally think so. It definitely comes from the American side, but I have seen Northern Europeans do that too, often just parroting the same type of discourse that Anglos whip out every other day.

There is an abysmal ignorance of Medieval history – even more so when it concerns countries that are not England: there is this common misconception that Europe in the Middle Ages was this cultural backwater full of semi-barbaric people that stems unfortunately not only from trying to (correctly) reframe colonialist approaches to the historiographies of non-European populations (that is, showing the Golden Age of Islamic culture, for instance, as opposed to what were indeed less culturally advanced neighbours), but also from distortions operated by European themselves from the Renaissance onwards, culminating in the 18th century Enlightenment philosophes categorising the Middle Ages as the Dark Ages.

Now this approach has been time and time again proven to be a made-up myth. I will not go into detail to disprove each and every single one misconception about the Medieval era because entire books have been written, but just to give you an example: there was no such a thing as a ius primae noctis/droit du seigneur; people were aware that the Earth was not flat (emperors, kings, saints, etc, they were depicted holding a globe in their hands); people were taking care of their hygiene, either through the Roman baths, or natural springs, or private tubs that the wealthier strata of the population (and especially the aristocracy) owned. The Church was not super happy about them not because it wanted people to remain dirty, but because often these baths were for both men and women, and it was not that in favour of them showing off their bodies to one another. Which, you know, we also don’t do now unless you go to nudist spas. It was only during the Black Death in the 14th century that baths were slowly abandoned because they became a place of contagion, and they went into disuse (or better, they changed purpose and became something like bordellos). And, lastly, there was certainly a big chunk of the population that was illiterate, but certainly it was not the clergy, which was THE erudite class of the time. It was in monasteries and abbeys that knowledge was passed and preserved (as well as lost unfortunately often, such as the case for the largest part of classical literature).

So what does this mean? According to canon, Nicolò was an ex priest who fought in the First Crusade. This arguably means that at the very least he was a cadet son of a minor noble family (or a wealthy merchant one) who was part of the clergy. As such, historically he could have been neither illiterate nor a dirty garbage cat in his daily life.

Let’s then talk geography. Southern Europe (and France) was far, far more advanced than the North at the time and Italy remained the cultural powerhouse of the continent until the mid-17th century. Al Andalus in the Iberian Peninsula, the Italian States,  the Byzantine Empire (which called itself simply Roman Empire, whose population defined itself as Roman and cultural heirs of the Latin and Greek civilisations): these places have nothing to do with popular depictions of Medieval Europe that you mainly see from the Anglos. Like @lucyclairedelune rightfully pointed out: not everyone was England during the plague.

Also the Middle Ages lasted one thousand years. As a historical age, it’s way longer than anything we had after that. So of course habits varied, there was a clear collapse right after the fall of the Western Roman Empire, but then things develop, you know?

Anyway, back to the point in question. Everything I whipped up is not arcane knowledge: it’s simply having studied history at school and spending a few hours reading scientific articles on the internet which are not “random post written by random Anglo on Tumblr who can hardly find Genoa on a map”.

Nicolò stems from that culture. The most advanced area in Europe, possibly a high social class, certainly educated, from Genoa, THE maritime superpower of the age (with…Venice). It makes absolutely no sense that he would not be able to speak anything past Ligurian: certainly Latin (the ecclesiastical one), maybe the koine Greek spoken in Constantinople, or Sabir, or even the several Arabic languages from the Med basin stretching from al Andalus to the Levant. Because Genoa was a port, and people travel, bring languages with them, use languages to barter.

And now I am back to your question. Does this obstinacy in writing him as an illiterate beast (basically) feed into stereotypes of Mediterranean people (either from the northern or the southern shore)? It does.

It is a typically Anglo-Germanic perspective that of describing Southern (Catholic) Europeans are hot-headed, illiterate bumpinks mindlessly driven by blind anger, lusts and passions, as opposed to the rational, law-abiding smart Northern Protestants. You see it on media. I see it in my own personal life, as a Southern Italian living in Northern Europe for 10 years.

Does it sound familiar? Yes, it’s the same harmful stereotype of Yusuf as the Angry Brown Man. But done to Nicolò as the Angry Italian Man (not to mention the fact that, depending on the time of day and the daily agenda of the Anglo SJW Tumblrite, Italians can be considered either white or non-white).

Now, the times where Nicolò is shown as feral are basically when he is fighting (either in a bloody war or against Merrick’s men) or when Yusuf is in danger. Because, guess what, the man he loves is being hurt. What a fucking surprise.

Nicolò is simply being reduced to a one dimensional stereotype of the dirty dumb angry Italian, and people are simply doing this because they do not seem to accept the fact that both he and Yusuf are two wonderfully complex, flawed, fully-fledged multidimensional characters.

So I am mainly concentrating on Nicolò here because as an Italian I feel more entitled to speak about the way I see the Anglo fandom treating him and using stereotypes on him that have been consistently applied to us by the Protestant Northerners. I keep adding the religious aspect because, although I am an atheist who got debaptised from the Catholic Church, a big part of the historical treatment towards Southern has to do with religion and the contempt towards Catholic rituals and traditions (considered, once again, a sign of cultural backwardness by the enlightened North).

I do not want to impose my view of Yusuf because there are wonderful Tumblr users from MENA countries who have already written wonderful metas of the way Yusuf is being depicted by non-MENA people (in particular Americans), especially (again) @lucyclairedelune and @nizarnizarblr.

However, I just want to underline that, by only ever writing Yusuf as essentially a monodimensional character without a single flaw, this takes away Yusuf’s canon multidimensionality, the right he has to feel both positive but also negative feelings (he was hurt and angry at Booker’s betrayal, allegedly his best friend, AND HE HAD EVERY RIGHT TO BE – and I say this as a Booker fan as well).

I have not been the first to say these things, it is nothing revolutionary, and it exactly complements what the MENA tumblr users in the TOG fandom have also been trying to say. Both of us as own voices people who finally have the chance to have two characters that are fully formed and honest representations of our own cultures, without stereotypes or Anglogermanic distortions.

And the frustration mounting among all of us comes from the fact that the Anglos are, once again, not listening to us, even telling us we are wrong about our own cultures (see what has happened to Lucy and Nazir).

What is even more frustrating is that everything in this cursed fandom – unless it was in the film or comics – is just a bloody headcanon. But these people are imposing their HCs as if it were the Word of God, and attacking others – including own voices MENA and Italians – for daring to think otherwise.

I honestly don’t expect this post will make any difference because this is just a small reflection of what Americans do in real life on grander scale, which is thinking they are the centre of the world and ignoring that the rest of the world even exists regardless of their own opinions on it.

- My first thought with him was that he starts wearing a lungi around the house as soon as he finds out what they are

- starts using gamucha for his workouts! they’re really convenient

- Loves to hear you sing in your language! Desi ballad music sounds beautiful to him especially coming from you!

- Is willing to try desi food and will not complain about the curry smell at all, won’t mind that you eat with your hands

- He loves spicy food so he most likely enjoys any curry but especially loves how spicy vindaloo

- willing to watch bollywood movies with you just to spend time together

- If you ask him to learn your language he’ll be happy to, won’t even ask you to learn his unless you really want to

- your family would probably be scared as hell of him and the aunties might talk behind your back but he pays no mind. They eventually like how polite and helpful he is.

🥀Could I request a matchup? 🥀I’m both an outgoing person but also not an outgoing person, it depends on my mood. Sometimes I love socialize with people and making new friends, cracking jokes with people and making them laugh. Other times, I prefer to keep to myself and stay far away from anyone else. In general, I’d say I’m a decently kind person. Although I’m very keen on saying “overthrow the government” and “anarchy” at least once a day. Simeon would probably be fine regarding your range of personality as well - he is great at reading people, so he will know when he needs to be concerned about you keeping a distance. Though open communication can solve any issues that might arise regarding this, which is highly encouraged to practice in case your first impression came off as opinionated, funny and sociable.

Simeon is indeed loyal, kind, patient, respectful and responsible. The number of candidates that have all these traits are low but he is indeed one!! 

These traits are rather self-explanaotry and you explained their importance as well. I think Simeon is definitely patient enough to deal with anxiety attacks. Not just that, but he probably also has knowledge on it.
