ok well what if. i swapped luke and asch. for my time travel au. just at the very end.
#.text#tales of the abyss#listen okay i have some thoughts about it.#mostly in that i think that luke had it planned for a while. to the point where he mightve told jade in advance.#that if at some point the next day in hod. if luke disappears and does not come back. do not look for him.#because i think luke is probably thinking. he has had the chance to say goodbye. but asch has not. and he doesnt want to take that away#for a second time. so he thinks hes doing asch a kindness#whereas asch thinks hes being cruel. like for all theyve been able to make up over while they were trying to get to that point#i dont think asch is capable of understanding luke while in such stressful situations. he acts like he thinks calm under pressure#and maybe he is calm Enough that he knows what to do and how things will end. but that does not change how he actually acts.#and the whole point of the time travel au is that they learn to understand each other. and for asch to understand himself.#and i dont think he'd be able to fully understand luke without a) seeing how his friends react and talk about him#in a setting that isnt The Middle Of Battle or after the events of akzeriuth (ie high stress situations)#b) being given the chance to live longer than him in a situation where luke decided to switch places.#like i truly think the tower of rem. where luke first decided to switch places and die in asch's stead. is when asch started to Understand#am i making ANY sense#anyways its also because there is meaning and symbolism to it (duh!!)#because there is no mystery epilogue man in this au 🫶 he is gone they are both gone. they got their chance to come back#and they used it as wisely as they could. and they got to live. if only for a little bit longer.#oh im remembering. luke's body disappears when he dies. asch is going to disappear into the core alone. nvm au cancelled#wow isnt that symbolic. asch is alone yet again. thumbs down#i know the order of their deaths and especially how they die have meaning (asch dies for luke as luke almost died for him.#he extends his newfound trust into luke as his final action. etc etc) (and luke only getting to be close to asch once hes dead)#but thats already happened and both of those things get to also happen again over the course of Redoing History#as you do in time travel aus#momentarily considered having luke live after the fight with the knights but tbh i dont think either of them could have won that fight#like they are both actively dying. the only thing holding luke together is sticks and glue. and asch is in pain 24/7.#there are dozens of well trained knights fighting with the intent to kill. and they were alone. either of them would have died then#if they fought together it would be different but there just. was not any time#it was too late. and also i ran out of tags goodbye

These were the concept pages I drew for my original writer in the @vashwoodbigbang event! Unfortunately they have disappeared on me 😅 and also bc god hates me I guess, the day I was supposed to post these, yesterday, saw me dealing with first a wifi outage and then a whole electricity outage so. That was fun lmao
Details about the drawings below since. I don't know if my writer will ever post the story, unfortunately 😔
So this was originally coined as a stardust au! I believe it was primarily based on the movie that came out in the 2000s (?), though I believe my writer was familiar with both the movie and the book it was based on. Honestly, it doesn't pull much at all from the story itself, just the general concepts of stars.
In this version, Vash is a star, and he decides to try and find his long-lost siblings (Knives and Tessla). In his search, he comes across a planet he hasn't visited before, and while he's descending to it, he's shot down by something mysterious that causes him rather permanent injury (not new; I believe he'd already lost his arm previously and he has all his scarring from travels to previous planets, this specific technology is just new to him).
He manages to crawl some distance from the resulting crater and is rescued by the odd pair of anthropologist Milly and journalist Meryl, who are tracking fallen stars on their planet in order to research them. Vash is horrified to learn that stars on this planet are rather brutally searched for and used for their power, so he tries his best to keep his real identity as a star secret.
In the next town, he learns about Star Cultists, who are the leading experts on stars. Our dear Wolfwood is one of them, and though he's a priest under the head of Chapel, he seems pretty jaded about the whole thing. He also spends some time poking fun at their visitor Vash when he stumbles on the doorstep of the church.
Unbeknownst to all, Chapel is the one who shot Vash down, and he suspects Vash is his target. When Vash, Milly, and Meryl skip town, Wolfwood is ordered to tag along with them against his will, and he begrudgingly forces himself into the group with his usual grace lol.
Through some shenanigans, including an interesting fight with Livio/Razlo who is a martyr (a human who ate at least part of a star and became consumed by it), the group all grows closer to each other. Naturally, Wolfwood and Vash hit it off with their usual ideology clashing and homoerotic team fighting. The tension comes to a head when both of the boys are drunk and attempting to stumble somewhere after getting kicked out of the bar, and with the help of liquid courage, Wolfwood admits to Vash that he's what's known as a "Star Eater:" a human that has consumed part of a star, and by some genetic luck, isn't consumed by it and instead gains some superhuman abilities so long as the magical tattoo (i forget what it's called off the top of my head fuck) that forms around the presenting star isn't broken.
Vash is understandably horrified. Wolfwood is confused by Vash's rejection bc he isn't aware Vash is a star; he's under the impression Vash is just some very talented guy Chapel really wants to feed a star shard in the hopes he becomes part of their superhuman cult.
Vash sobers up and manages to drag a very drunk and eepy Wolfwood to their hotel.
The next day is the turning point; the star cultists, including Chapel, catch up to them and confront Vash. Wolfwood has to learn very quickly that he'd been Wrong and Vash, in his panic, flies to where it feels most safe; the city's Star (storage area?? Idk). He ends up cornered there and, in his panic, accidentally goes nuclear trying to escape and blows up half the city in a column of flame. While he's barreling across the desert in an attempt to get away, he's trapped by a net the star cultists set up, made of the same shit used to shoot him down at the start, and he can't escape it on his own.
Luckily he's found by Wolfwood first, who's decided he owes it to Vash to try and fix his fuck up, and using his superhuman healing, he manages to free Vash. Both are exhausted and ultimately rescued by LR, who's been tailing them.
Tbh my memory's kinda foggy... my writer only managed to share up to that first LR fight, so I don't remember exactly what's supposed to happen between here and the fight at the orphanage?? I remember Vash somehow finds out what happened to his siblings (a hella long time ago, Tessla was consumed by the people of the planet and Knives, in his rage, fuckin just annihilated everything, turning it into a desert planet, and has been laying dormant for the most part since then) and also we learn that martyrs gain better control of themselves, and the crystal growth consuming them stops, when in proximity to enough additional star power. Vash, as a star himself, allows LR to easily think as they did before they ate a star shard when in close enough proximity.
Anyway, fight for the orphanage, Vash shows up in time to see Wolfwood getting his shit rocked and his magical tattoo (I'm so annoyed I can't remember what it's called. My mind is supplying sharingan and i know that aint it) shattered by Chapel, who accomplishes this by running Wolfwood through with his cane. Vash, believing Wolfwood's dead (bc like. Lmao it's pretty hard to live getting impaled, like, fully), loses his temper and basically obliterates Chapel. He moves on from Wolfwood's body to try and dismantle the entire Star church so Wolfwood's orphanage can stay safe. In this process, he confronts a Doctor Conrad, who was behind the whole thing, the remains of Tessla, and somehow Knives?? I think Knives, sensing Vash's anguish, just tried to fuckin nuke everyone, and Vash stops that. I feel like Knives dies in this process somehow... I think it was by saving Vash from something Conrad made??
By the end of it, Vash is wounded and exhausted, and ends up being saved by Milly and Meryl, I think.
When he recovers, it's to find he's lost his ability to leave the planet; while still functionally a star, his power has greatly diminished, his hair is black, and he can't even hide his wings anymore. Last I knew, my writer was actually merciful and let Wolfwood live! Albeit as a martyr (thus the wolf form with the uncontrolled star shard bursting out of the hole in his chest you can see on Wolfwood's page lol). Luckily he's got Vash around, so he gets to keep his mind, if not his human form.
With Knives dead and the star cultists mostly dispersed and no longer able to fuck with the planet, the story ends with our characters getting to experience rainfall on the planet for the first time in centuries.
.......
I like the story :P I imagine it'd be a lot better written out in actual novel form by the person who'd actually thought it up than my shitass, too-long summary lol.
Honestly my writer was communicating up until like, a month ago?? And then they just.... disappeared :/ which is weird bc I checked with my mod for this event (shout out to mod sana, @pushclouds, you're an amazing mod and I appreciate the heck out of you) and they submitted literally every check-in. Honestly I'm more worried for them than anything, if anyone knows what happened to @lohikaar I'd appreciate anything you can tell me. I hope they'll publish this story whenever they can, I'd still love to read it in its entirety.
Additional shout-out to @priellan for beta-ing the story they shared with us, and for overall being a super supportive team member :D
Also they did assign me a pinch hitter writer since we have no idea wtf happened to my original writer, so I'll be doing more drawings :D priellan agreed to beta for them too, which I'm super happy about! And thanks again to mod sana for your hard work and arranging that so quickly!
An admittedly strange first big bang experience, but I don't think it was overall bad, and I'm excited to work on more stuff with my new writer :D if you read this far goddamn. Thanks lol. See you again for sure on January 1st! (I'll try to post other shit between then and now hopefully)

“Steve, man, you need to relax.”
Sam tapped on Steve’s shoulder, noticing how stiff his posture is in front of the mirror. After years of being Steve’s teammate and close friend, Sam already witnessed how fearless he is. But now, for the first time, he can actually see their former leader being tensed. Not because of another outer space purple alien or battle to face, but because he is going to meet someone special today.
“What if she’ll hates me?” Steve asked, looking back to Sam with worry written all over his face.
“Are we talking about Sandy or Y/N?”  Sam quipped. But the reaction on his friend’s face didn’t change at all. He crossed his arms, “Look, Steve. They won’t hate you. Sandy is the nicest kid I know. Bucky even calls her sunshine. She’s friendly and kind to everyone. She rarely showed any dislike for anyone or anything. I’m sure everything will go smoothly later.”
“How about–”
“Yeah, I know she ran away the moment she saw you.”  Sam rolled his eyes. “But can you blame her?”
Steve didn’t answer. He remembered that rainy night he saw you for the first time after coming back. He already anticipated anger from you since he was the one who asked for a break-up after their time-travel mission and battle with Thanos. But what was unexpected was the little girl, who was hiding behind your leg, that you referred to as your daughter before pausing in shock. Before he can even say anything more, you immediately left with the kid as you blink away the tears he noticed.
Alone, confused, and drenched in the rain. He stood there as your bus left. He didn’t understand everything that happened. Just like how Bruce explained to him a day ago that it had already been five years since he left. He was staying alone in Banner’s free apartment in the city ever since he came back and just a few hours after he saw you again, Sam and Bucky are both standing at his door, still in uniform.
And man, it was not a happy reunion. The duo was surprised to see him. Sam’s open mouth almost reached the floor while Bucky glared at him, jaw clenched. Sam did all the talking and explained that they just came from a mission when they heard that he is back. He willingly answered questions Steve had. Except for one.
“She was pregnant when you left.”
With his arms crossed over his chest, Bucky told him coldly. Silence took over the whole apartment after that. Steve had to process everything in his head while his two friends watched. The kid, the one who was with you. She’s mine. Mine. It repeated over and over again. The regret, questions, confusion, and surprise are all mixed in.
“Steve, I know that this is a lot. But we’ll help you.” Sam tried to assure him, even tagging the seemingly mad Bucky along, “Right, Bucky?”
His best friend answered with a single nod. They did help him. Steve moved out from Bruce’s to Bucky’s apartment unit since he had an extra room. Sam would join them every day because he was the only one who talks. He took over the couch. At the end of the week, he learned a lot of stories about your pregnancy and even Sandy. His heart already swells with stories about her and he started to yearn for meeting her. Also, he wants to talk to you ever since he came back.
Finally, exactly a week since that rainy night, Sam told Steve that you are open for him to meet Sandy.
Tumblr media
“That’s her house. The blue one.” Sam pointed out as he drives closer to it.
Your house…is something familiar to Steve’s memory. It was a single-family home, not too far from the city. You have a beautiful front yard and he can notice the colorful chalk doodles on your cement walkway, obviously drawn by a little kid.
“You know, this house, she bought it herself as soon as she learned she was pregnant. We were surprised. But she said she’s been saving up for this.” Sam shared as they walked to the pathway.
Steve nodded quietly, he knows. You and Steve already planned on buying a home just like this before. Everything was already planned out. The kids, pets, every design and furniture to be put in the house. You two already imagined it before while cuddling together on the brown couch in your old apartment.
‘WeLCoME!’
A word is written before your front door with the last letter written in a mirrored way. He smiled, reading it. Sam clicked on the doorbell and Steve tried to stay calm, shifting his weight from one foot to another. He held on to the gift bags he brought. He thought of buying something for this day after he heard stories.
Suddenly, they heard hurried footsteps inside the house. It was followed by an excited voice, “Mama, they’re here! They are here!”
As if that’s not enough to soothe Steve, he heard a familiar, heartwarming chuckle, “I know, I know, love! Don’t open the door. Wait for mama!”
Sam looked back at Steve and gave him a soft pat on his arm. He exhaled and tried to smile. Hopefully, the butterflies in his stomach calm down. A few seconds later, the door slowly opened and all the butterflies started playing around again when he sees you standing there. You swiftly glanced from him to Sam and his heart never relaxed again. You were about to greet them when someone cuts you off.
“Mama, it’s Cap!”
His heart skips as he heard the excitement in your child’s voice behind you. Her baby blue eyes scream for joy as she ran in his direction with open arms. Expecting a warm embrace, Steve watched with the broadest smile. Until she passed by him like a chilly wind blow, he turned his head and saw Sandra hugging Sam, who chuckles as he lifted her in his arms.
“Uh-oh! Looks like you are growing up really fast, Sandra. I might not be able to carry you next time I go here.”
The little kid giggled, “That’s lilly. You’re Captain America! You can do anything!”
Steve tried to tear his eyes away, looking down at his feet. Of course, he will run to Sam. He is the Captain America for five years now. And you, who stood before them, watched as all of it happened. You quickly spotted Steve’s expression transitioning from Sarah running towards them, passing by him, and jumping to her favorite uncle. Steve meets your eyes and you can read the mixture of sadness and frustration in his eyes. You broke eye contact and cleared your throat,
“You guys should come inside. Sandy and I are going to do something.” you feigned excitement as you talk to your daughter.
“Baking! We’re baking ‘nick-uh-toodles!”  Sandra stutters adorably. She didn’t even give a pinch of attention to Steve, only talking to Sam.
“Is that so? Then, we should go inside!”
Sam carefully let down Sandra from his arms. She easily pulled his hand inside your house, leaving you and Steve alone. You looked at Steve with the plainest look he has ever seen from you. He swore that he prepared words to say to you but just by your stare, it was all gone. You pursed your lips.
“She meant snickerdoodles. We’re working with her s.” you clarified awkwardly.  “Come on in?”
“Yeah, sure..” he mumbled before stepping into your home.  He waited for you to close the door before handing you the bags. “Uh, I bought these. Sam said she loves them.”
“Oh, yeah… Thanks. But you should give it to her later, personally. I’ll introduce you to her.” you said carefully before walking ahead of him.
Steve followed behind you. He cannot help but travel his eyes around your house. A couple of picture frames were displayed on the wall. One has a colorful doodle that he assumes was Sandy’s masterpiece. Next to it is an image of an infant sleeping in a bassinet. And lastly, there was a seemingly recent snap of you and Sandy in matching pastel blue sundresses. Both are pretty and all smiley.
“Sandy, come here first,” you called her as you entered the kitchen with the former Captain America catching up behind you.
She was sitting on the kitchen island so she had to turn to Sam to help her, “Thank you, Cap.”
And Steve would be lying if he say that it didn’t cause another crack in his heart. Steve watched as you slowly got down to her level when she stood in front of you.
“Sandra, I want you to meet someone. Okay?” you began softly and Sandy replied with a curious nod. You signaled your head to Steve, asking him to come closer. He copied you and almost kneel to your daughter’s height. “Uh… This is Steve.”
You paused, breathing in and out. Sandy took that short time to repeat the name, “‘Teve?”
Steve cannot help but let out a small, low chuckle. Not because she had troubles with her s, but hearing his name from her soft, tiny voice is one of the most amazing things he has ever heard in life.
“Yeah, love. Steve.” you forced a smile but he knows with the shaking of your voice that you are just stopping yourself from tearing up. “He… He is your father.”
“Like a daddy? Like Bella’s?” Sandra quickly picked up, relating the term to her best friend.
“Yes, you’re right!” you tried to sound cheery but the rim of your eyes is starting to get glossy. To turn Sandy’s attention away from you, you looked at him, “Right, Steve?”
Sandy moved her big, hopeful eyes to him while you quickly wipe away any tears. And Steve doesn’t know who the hell Bella is but he nods, matching the gentle energy you put in your tone, “Yes, Sandy. I’m your dad.”
Maybe Steve expected more. Like maybe a strong embrace. Like the one earlier with Sam when they were at the front door. But Sandy, being the purest person in the room, slowly showed a smile while looking at him, “Wow.”
Steve doesn’t want to get it wrong since she genuinely sounds amazed and maybe surprised. Like when a dazed kid sees a rainbow in the sky. It was a long, slow but stunning wow. Her icy-blue eyes sparkled more. It was the most beautiful pair Steve has seen other than yours. The more he looked at her small, adorable face, the more he feels pride inside of him seeing a mix of you and him.
“And I brought you a gift.” Steve continued, showing her the gift bags he have.
She immediately accepted the bags. But first, she looked at you for permission. “Mama?”
“You can open it, love. It’s yours!” you smiled.
As soon as her eyes peeked inside one of the bags, she squealed. Her small feet are even tapping on the ground. Both you and Steve watched in adoration.
She beamed, “Duckie!”
Her hands held a plushie of a yellow, chubby duck with very tiny orange feet. Steve bought it after Sam and Bucky told him how much Sandy loves anything with that animal. She hugged it in her arms, “I love it!”
At last, she took steps toward Steve. She wrapped her short arms around his neck, squishing the stuffed toy in between, “Thank you, ‘Teve!”
“Your welcome, sweetheart.” he laughed and hugged her back.
It was warm and heart-melting. Steve sees you putting on a small, tight smile before getting up. He hoped you’ll join in for the hug. But it’s fine. He knows he still has a lot of things to do and learn. He also needs to talk to you. It will take time but he’s willing to offer all of his to you and Sandy. But for now, this is good.

Ahhh honestly, I really love the found family AU with Richtard and Olrox. I imagine, Olrox being such an ancient being he would be able to train Richtard very well in magic -and while writing that, I imagined teen Richtard calling Olrox ancient to get on his nerves lol not that he could.
And in another note, I don't know of you ship Olrox/Mizrak but I imagine Olrox traveling to France and doing the exact things he did, only this time for the sake of keeping Richtard safe from vamps. And I imagine Mizrak coming to terms with Olrox's humanity by seeing how he loves the kid lol
LOVE THESE IDEASSS
I never expanded on this but yes, in a scenario where Richter stays with Olrox for years, Olrox definitely teaches him how to control his magic. As result, Richie possesses unimaginable power at only 14 years old, to the point where he can create illusions and shapes with the flames. He learned to summon a pair of flaming wings to fly short distances and even a reptile-like tail on occasion. He’ll never admit that he got the inspiration from his captor father, but Olrox could tell it a mile away and is endlessly proud. On another note however, the surge of rising rumours of a suspicious "vampire messiah" is becoming a problem, and he noticed a certain group of immortal nobles who are said to be part of an ancient cult eyeing Richter less like a meal and more…like an opportunity.
When Olrox got an invite from the strange vampire messiah personally, he realised that it had gotten serious. Vampiric courts around Europe were actively joining them, and if he didn’t take part, there would be a big chance of him getting hunted for his power. He never minded having enemies, but being a father to a mortal has brought a new fear into him. Richter was still a boy, and required protection.
Protection that Olrox wouldn’t be able to provide if an angry immortal mob sets their sights on them.
“You want to JOIN?!” The teenager exclaimed, watching maids pack his clothes for the oncoming trip.
“There is not much else I can do at the moment, my son. Please understand.”
“How can you ask that of me?! Isn’t their whole schtick that they want to achieve world domination!? Isn’t that just Dracula’s invasion all over again!?”
“No. It’s worse.”
Silence.
“I want to protect you, my child.”
“But you’re strong aren’t you!? What do they have that you don’t!?”
“They have nothing to lose!”
Another silence, and Richter finally goes quiet, though by no means agrees.
And just a week later, the two were in France. Needless to say, Richter was fuming, and seeing the church support messiah’s cult only made his jaw drop lower. The first meeting between Olrox and Mizrak went a little differently with the kid by Aztec’s side.
“Who…who is that?” The knight asked, baffled by the sight.
“My son.” Olrox answered not missing a beat. He might have danced around the title when it came to vampires, but not with mortals. As calmly as he said it, Mizrak felt the silent threat of « If one hair falls of his head, I’ll chop yours clean off. »
Needless to say, it was a jarring image, to see an immortal be so patient and caring towards a breathing creature. The knight couldn’t believe it at first, but the evidence was overwhelming, portrayed in Olrox’s every action; from the way he’d check up on the boy, to the way he’d banter with him, smiling at his sass or firing right back.
Maybe vampires aren’t so heartless after all…?

Sorry if this isn't the kind of thing you want asked, you can ignore this if it isn't.
But in a no Palpatine AU, let's say Anakin matures just enough to realize that Jedi life isn't for him and leaves the Jedi Order. What do you think he'd do with his life after leaving? And do you think he'd stay friends with people like Obi-Wan?
This is totally the kind of thing I want asked!
Okay, so, the way I see it, there's two options for this AU.
Option 1: Everything stays the same up through TPM but Palpatine like slips on the stairs before Padme arrives on Coruscant or something, so he doesn't become Chancellor and never meets Anakin.
Option 2: Palpatine died before TPM or just never existed, and so the events of TPM go radically different or just don't happen at all, which has a lot of ripple effects on the entire storyline.
I think Option 1 is probably the scenario you were imagining with this ask, and it's the easier one to answer, so I'll do that one first.
I think Anakin could really mature a LOT via the Jedi lifestyle, actually. Anakin in TPM as a 9 year old is a genuinely kind, compassionate, sweet kid who seems to just want to help people and has a somewhat child-like naive idea of how that would actually work in reality. Living as a Jedi without the intervention of Palpatine telling him he can't trust the Jedi would allow him to really benefit from all of their lessons. He'd learn to be more than just mature, he could learn real mindfulness, he'd learn to let go, he'd learn to be at peace with the world around him and with who he is and what he was.
I think Anakin could leave at a few different points, but I usually assume that in this kind of situation, Anakin would leave probably shortly before he gets Knighted. Because I think Anakin would have benefited so much from the Jedi's teachings that it would feel wrong to him to take those oaths, knowing that he doesn't truly mean them and can't truly commit to them. But he stays as a Padawan as long as he can because he does LIKE a lot of things about being a Jedi and the longer he stays, the more he can learn. If Obi-Wan and the Council trust him to be a Knight, he can trust that he's probably gotten about all he can from the experience and it's time to move on. He might not even entirely consciously REALIZE that he's doing this until the moment comes and he has that particular epiphany that he's just been waiting for that validation to know that it's okay to leave.
And in this scenario, there's probably no Darth Tyrannus, either, and likely no Separatists, so there's nothing putting Padme's life in danger which means Anakin and Obi-Wan probably don't end up coming back into her orbit before Anakin leaves the Order. There's no secret relationship of any kind. But on Padme's end, this means there's no WAR and a lot fewer difficulties in the Senate probably which might mean she feels more comfortable stepping away from being a Senator than we know she does in canon.
As for what Anakin does after he leaves, there's SO MANY options. A lot of people assume he'd go into engineering, which is valid. It'd be a pretty easy job to pick up after leaving, maybe on a ship that needs a mechanic on the crew or something so he gets to travel around a bit. He could be a pilot, get a ship of his own and get some kind of piloting job. He could just go into racing I guess, although I feel like his time as a Jedi and his desire to help people would keep him from making that a whole career.
My favorite option though is that he goes back to Tatooine to try to do some abolition/grassroots work out there. It'd be really interesting as a parallel universe storyline if one of the things he actually ends up focusing on when he goes back to Tatooine is learning to understand the Tuskens better and trying to build a better relationship between the Tuskens and the settlers. I think he'd obviously focus a lot on the slavery issue, but it'd be interesting if the Tuskens got folded into that at some point, too. Maybe that work eventually leads him into politics and back to Coruscant and the Republic Senate at some point and that's how he gets back in contact with Padme. Or maybe Padme leaves the Senate and starts working with grassroots organizations herself afterwards and ends up remembering her time on Tatooine and deciding to go there to help and that's how they reconnect.
This also allows Anakin to reconnect with Shmi who, if we take into account the deleted dialogue that implies Palpatine and Dooku were behind the capture by the Tuskens that led to her death, is alive and well and doing just fine on the Lars homestead. So not only does Anakin get his mother back, he gains an entire step-family along with her. Anakin and Owen might butt heads occasionally, but they do love each other and consider each other family. Anakin and Beru get along SWIMMINGLY, much to Owen's irritation. Maybe the Tusken connection happens via his family and their struggles with the local tribes.
And in this AU, there's no reason he WOULDN'T remain friends with Obi-Wan. It might be a more "Jedi-like" friendship in the sense that they don't necessarily see or speak to each other super often, but they share an unbreakable bond from the years they spent together as Master/Padawan and do reach out when they have the time or are in the same area, etc. There's no attachment, no obligations or expectations that either of them has to live up to, just... compassion and friendship and respect.
And this brings us to Option 2 which runs into a lot more speculation and can go any number of ways.
If Palpatine dies prior to TPM or just plain doesn't exist at all, this likely means that the events of TPM don't even happen. So whether Anakin ever even becomes a Jedi is completely questionable and if he does, his route to becoming one could be radically different which would impact the kind of Jedi he becomes and his relationships to both Padme and Obi-Wan. It's entirely possible he'd never even MEET Padme until he was either fully a Jedi or had left the Jedi, so whether he'd end up in a relationship with her is completely up in the air. He might not even be into her depending on what kind of person you assume Anakin and Padme end up becoming in this particular AU. Maybe Obi-Wan doesn't become his Master. Maybe Qui-Gon DOES become his Master because he doesn't die on Naboo and survives to the end of Obi-Wan's apprenticeship. Maybe Anakin stays on Tatooine and when Cliegg comes along, he frees both of them and Anakin grows up a Lars for a while and meets Beru and joins her in abolition efforts. Maybe he becomes a celebrity via the podracing gig and this gets him enough money to leave Tatooine to pursue a career doing something else. Maybe Quinlan is involved in discovering Anakin since he's halfway canonically on Tatooine at the same time as Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan.
Option 2 is kind-of a free for all, take your pick sort of option, so it's a little harder to definitively answer your questions about what he'd do and how his relationships would end up.

Demon Possession AU Scat Story
Credit: ShyShyScott (tumblr)
A, who was a demon that possessed someone, is new to having a human body for the first time, learning a whole new lot of human customs and understanding things that they never learned before about being human prior to experiencing humanity physically. They tried all different things, including cuisine. They tried rice bowls and takoyaki today, enjoying all different mixes of different pork, vegetables and seafood, it was very delicious for A. Now relaxed, A and B are relaxing together on the bed, with A watching a movie and B playing animal crossing while A sat on their lap. While they relaxed, A noticed a pang in their lower stomach and felt nervous. “Hey my stomach kind of hurts.. it feels like a strong pressure that is just pushing down.” A says uncomfortably. “Maybe you just ate too much, don’t worry about it.” B replies, trying to be comforting to A. The pressure in As lower stomach quickly travels to their lower end and releases in a hot silent fart. “Ahh.. that gas that released from me seemed to help that tight pressure go away a little bit.” A says, feeling a little better. B seeing As relieved face and the slight moans they made was really, really nice to B, and as much as they didn’t want to admit that normally, they saw an opportunity of indulging into something they liked without judgement, seeing that A didn’t know too much about humanity quite yet. They didn’t want to admit too much, fearing making A uncomfortable, but they slowly began to indulge into this without being to weird about it at first. “If you’d like, you can keep doing that, if it makes you feel better.” B says slyly while looking at the ground. “Ok thanks!” A says enthusiastically. A then begins to push more and more vibrating farts into Bs lap, each ending in a large moan of relief and relaxation coming from A with each fart being pushed out of their body as it continues to release pressure from As lower stomach. “Ooooh here comes another really big one…” A says before releasing a very hot and rumbly fart causing a very relaxed moan to escape from As breath. B was completely relishing in it all, allowing small moans and grunts of secret enjoyment to happen as A farts, pretending they are still playing animal crossing while this is happening. “I bet that feels better doesn’t it..? It happens to me when I eat a lot too, it’s totally normal.” B says ironically, as they are feeling the complete opposite of normal. “I feel an urge growing to keep pushing… something is building up…” A said as they continued to push out fart after fart, which only made that urge stronger. B kept thinking about how nice this is to hear and watch, and knowing that A is about to shit themselves, becomes worried at first, but then realizes the indulgent opportunity they once again have if they allow this to happen, one they’ve never had the courage to admit they even liked before. “Ahh how nice it would be to just see it happen..nice and relaxed…” B thought. “I mean A… if it makes you feel better… you should give in to that urge to push… whatever is hurting your tummy…” B said embarrassingly, hoping A doesn’t notice the flush on their face. “Alright sure.. maybe that will help.” A says before giving in to the overwhelming urge to push. At first it was just really wet farts, but then A feel’s something solid begin to escape, which brings a much bigger amount of relief then what they were experiencing before. “Somethings coming out…ohhh that feels better…” A said, now focusing fully on the relaxing feeling of release and pushing. At this point, As body was pouring waste into their clothing, but A didn’t mind the mess, they just really loved that the pressure in their stomach was finally beginning to really go away.
Meanwhile B, was biting the bottom of their lip to the point of blood, squeezing the bottom of their thighs together from how nice this was for them to finally see. “That must feel so much better huh A… it looks so good…” B moans under their breath, completely lost in the exciting indulgence feeling of finally giving in to the weirdness of what they really wanted. A overhears this, but is too focused in the pressure being relieved from their stomach to comment on it. “Ahhhh… it’s all coming out..” A hums while relaxing their muscles completely. “I think this is a very interesting part of being human. Isn’t it?”

I'm thinking about Rand's ending in the books and I hate both the bodyswap and that he abandons everyone but at the same time I get that his sacrifice has to mean something so the world forgets him/lets him fade into myth. And him actually dying would undermine the entire point of his arc. So I'm curious how you think the show might tackle this? I'm sure there's a few options
i hate it too! but yeah, rand needs to be forgotten by the world at large and needs to get a new face so he won't be recognized, or else he will never know peace. so the way i would do it is have him fade into myth among the general public, but still remain part of his loved ones' lives and they all just keep secret the fact that this guy is rand al'thor. his whole arc is about learning to stop self-isolating and to instead let himself lean on his loved ones for support, so i felt that him ending the series by fucking off into the mist all alone was totally contrary to that and did not make emotional sense as the endpoint of the journey we'd been on with him for 14 books. i can certainly understand if he needs to take a lil sabbatical and have some time to himself in the immediate aftermath, but that should not have been the very final concluding note of his whole arc! for my own sanity i have to imagine he just took a 2-week vacation and then went to caemlyn to be with his family (and told tam, nynaeve, and perrin that he's still alive, and rescued mat from the seanchan and incorporated him into the polycule, and bargained with the creator to bring egwene and gawyn back to life........okay i'm getting sidetracked)
as for what the show might do, i'll brace myself for them to adhere to the book version, but from what we've seen in the first 2 seasons, i think that ending would make even less sense for show!rand than it does for book!rand. in 1x08, we see that his greatest dream is to live a quiet, peaceful life with his family, and now we're going on a journey of watching him be forced to give up that dream for the rest of the series. what better way to end the show than by having rand finally get to live out that dream now that his duty to the world is done? the tears i would weep if the final scene of the show was similar to his 1x08 domestic AU, but real this time! plus, the s1 ending & s2 already did the whole thing of rand fucking off into the mist all alone, making his loved ones think he's dead, and trying to start over in a new town with a new life - AND HE LEARNS THAT THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE because he can't help but get attached to new people wherever he goes AND because he can't keep himself from remaining attached to the people from his old life and wanting to help them when he learns they're in trouble. and it also showed how his loved ones suffer because of him making them think he's dead and took a pretty hard stance in saying "no, no one is better off if rand fakes his death, not rand and not his loved ones." so i especially think rand's book epilogue scene would ring hollow in the show since s2 has specifically proven that that scenario doesn't work.
some people will harp on about happy endings being uNrEaLIsTIc, but i Do Not Give A Shit!!!! and so far the show has also shown that it's not interested in grimdark for grimdark's sake and that, like the books, it doesn't shy away from showing trauma and tragedy and yet still chooses hope & togetherness over cynicism & isolation at the end of the day, and so i think it feels very plausible for the show to give rand a bit more hopeful of an ending. (i guess the books TRIED to give him a hopeful ending what with him thinking happily about how he can travel around by himself and not be recognized, but it just felt false to me that that's the sort of thing that would make rand happy - in large part because show!rand was the first version i ever met, and i subconsciously carried his homebody caregiver stay-at-home dad-ness with me into the books even though he wasn't REALLY like that in the books in the way he is in the show. so that feels like further evidence that book!epilogue wouldn't work for show!rand.)
now as for the bodyswap, that's so tricky to imagine what the show might do. on the one hand, rand cannot fade into anonymity and be allowed to rest and set down his duties if he keeps his same body and will still be recognized wherever he goes. on the other hand, imagining rand's final moments in the whole show being portrayed by some random new actor instead of josha is so freaking sad! sad for us and sad for josha! it's fine in a book where we're in rand's head and can feel that he's still him even though he tells us he looks different, but in a visual medium, spending up to 8 seasons with josha as rand only to have his final moments be portrayed by a completely different person..........the emotions just wouldn't hit the same, it wouldn't feel like a proper sendoff for rand. granted, if moridin's actor had been in the show for several seasons already (and whether they would cast a new actor as moridin or bring fares fares back and just have the character still be called ishamael is another question i can't predict) then we'd be attached to him too by the finale, so maaaaaybe it could still feel emotional, but never as emotional as if it were josha doing that scene.
so i'm stuck here because story-wise it makes more sense for rand to get a new face, but TV-wise it's not sensible to have one of the main characters played by a different actor in their final scene(s). the potential solution to this would be, no bodyswap but have rand disguise his face with an illusion when in public so that he doesn't get recognized as the dragon reborn and get hassled.
so, okay, here's what i would do: rand wakes up in the healing tent still in his original body, but then he disguises himself and leaves the tent. he passes by his own funeral going on and slips away into the night, after exchanging a meaningful look with his partners who can sense that this stranger is him thanks to the bonds. then, cut to a proper epilogue scene of josha-as-rand undisguised in the privacy of his own home, watching his kids play with his partners by his side (and maybe all his friends and tam too if they REALLY feel like spoiling me haha) just like he told us in 1x01 he always dreamed of :')

Tumblr media
A couple of weeks have passed, and Sirius misses you. And he hates it. He is surprised by it, too. The feeling has come out of the blue, unexpected and unwanted as it settled in his ribcage, carved his way into his heart.
He doesn’t understand it at all. He’s had only a couple of dates with you, spent two afternoons in your company, and this evening at the concert. He doesn’t know that much about you. He doesn’t know how you drink your tea, what you eat for breakfast, the colour of your eyes under the rain. And it’s making things worse, because he wants to know. He longs to ask you what’s your favourite flower and your favourite colour and how you drink your coffee…
And whenever he closes his eyes, he sees yours, wide open, so close to him, staring into his soul. And he can taste your lips on his tongue again, smell your perfume in the air…
He huffs, annoyed. He’s being ridiculous. You weren’t even together, you’ve shared a few hours and a kiss. You weren’t even his first kiss. Was he yours?
He pushes the thought away, sits up as if it’ll help his brain thinking other thoughts. It doesn’t.
“If I hear you sigh one more time, Pads, I’ll hex you so hard you’ll be sent to Antarctica.”
“You really do have to hang out less with Evans, you’re stealing her silly threats now.”
“I want to punch you in the face so hard.”
“Better, sounds more like you.”
In James’s bedroom, the sun pours in golden hues, fresh and clean and too warm. It almost burns, despite its travel through the windowpane.
Sirius is sitting on the ground, and James is splayed on his bed, a novel in his hand that he disregards in favour of his best friend.
“You really have to see her again.”
“Why? She doesn’t want to see me.”
“She doesn’t want a fling. She literally wants to see you too much for the two of you to be a meaningless fling.”
“And that’s impossible. We’ve been through this already.”
“Clearly we need to go through this one more time, because you’re still mopping…”
“I am not…”
“You are. You miss her.”
Sirius remains quiet, his back resting against James’s bed.
“You should try to see her again.”
“I wouldn’t even know where to look, I don’t know her address.”
“As if it could stop the Marauders.”
Sirius can’t refrain a tender smile.
“Yeah, you’re right. You three are as mad as I am.”
“That’s why you love us so much!” James laughs, nudging Sirius with his knee.
“Fuck off, or I’ll break your kneecaps!”
“And risk mom’s wrath? I believe you.”
Sirius merely chuckles, hiding behind a snicker the way his heart inflated with fondness. James isn’t calling Euphemia his mother anymore, but their mom. True brothers…
“She’s a muggle. We’ll leave for Hogwarts in a couple of months and…”
“Yes, I know,” James rolled his eyes. “You kind of repeat yourself these days.”
“It would be too complicated.”
“Perhaps she’s worth the complication.”
“That comes from a guy who definitely likes complications when it comes to girls…”
Sirius doesn’t finish his sentence, he’s hit by a pillow instead.
“Anyway, what I was saying is… you should try anyway. You’re missing her already.”
“That’s the whole point… what if I fall for her? Like… really fall for her?”
“Your life will get immensely more complicated. And you’ll love every second of it.”
“You and your bloody romantic antics…”
“Ha, yes, I had forgotten how our good old Padfoot is full of cynicism these days.”
Sirius checks the time, and he’s happy to offer a distraction from the current conversation. After all, James and he have to hurry up if they don’t want to be late to meet Remus and Peter at Green Park.
Still, when he’s tying his shoes, he’s still thinking about that smile of yours.
Tumblr media
Summer is too warm this year, you wish for a fresh breeze to cool your skin, your head and your heart.
You’re still thinking about Sirius. You haven’t said a word of it to Jackie, besides telling her that it was over, that you were right and that Sirius didn’t want anything serious. It was hopeless, it would remain a silly crush on a stranger at a concert.
Your heart has other plans though. Because it aches just thinking about him. You can feel his lips on yours and your skin burns at the memory. You see his stormy eyes over and over again at night.
You miss him. You hate that fact, but you can’t deny the truth of it. You miss him, you want to see him again. Even if it means getting your life immensely complicated, even if it means letting him break your heart.
You don’t talk about it, though. What would be the point, anyway? Instead, you merely look sadder than usual, look at the sun through your sunglasses even if you shouldn’t, and try to breathe despite the longing in your chest.
Jackie has managed to drag you to Green Park, despite your terrible mood. She even managed to make you laugh, God knows how. You’re thankful for it, even if you hate it.
You’re lying in the grass, Jackie by your side is reading while you look through the branches at the blue sky and the burning sun. Your world is tainted pink by your sunglasses. You love it.
The park is busy, but you don’t mind. The unregular noises around you are numbed by the grass under you, the branches swaying gently, the superposition and mingling of voices. In the end, you barely notice the noise at all.
And it’s all relaxing, and for the first time in two weeks, your mind wanders not towards Sirius’s grey eyes but the shape of the leaves above you and you wonder how soft they can be up there, caressed only by the wind, before their fall.
Your quiet thoughts are interrupted though, by a frisbee landing right onto your stomach. You’re startled as it passes before your face and the next second rests on your abdomen; you let out a little shriek, that makes Jackie jump as well.
You sit up in a hurry, fumbling with the plastic toy. Damn, what kind of idiotic twat is clumsy enough to throw their frisbee on people…
You turn around, ready to throw hands with the culprit… when you’re left blinking instead.
A boy in a dark t-shirt is running towards you, freezing as he recognizes you.
Bullocks…
“Y/N?”
Sirius blinks. Once, twice, thrice, but you’re still here, sitting in the grass. He can’t help the smile that forms on his lips.
You look so beautiful, so adorable with your pink glasses…
“I…”
You look down at the frisbee, hand it over to him in a hurry without meeting his eyes.
“Oh, yeah… sorry about that. James is terrible at this game. He’s wearing his glasses, and still can’t aim for shit.”
His attempt at humour is met by a heavy silence and a terrible drop of his heart.
He looks down, cheeks burning, and not only because of his run. He takes the frisbee with a quiet thanks and is ready to walk away again when…
“Hey! Isn’t that your girl, Padfoot?”
You see Sirius wincing as a tall boy with glasses runs to him, half jumping on Sirius’s back as he comes to a stop by his side.
He shoots you and Jackie a grin.
“Hi! I’m James! And you must be Y/N!”
You nod, but can’t seem to find your voice. Jackie introduces herself, struggling not to laugh at you as you steal glances towards Sirius but look away every time his eyes meet yours. Meanwhile, Remus and Peter have joined the small group, introduced themselves, and are now quietly laughing at Sirius’s flushed cheeks, along with the fact that he can’t look away from you.
He's missed you. So terribly. He was a fool. He wants you so badly. He can recall the taste of your lips, and he longs for it now more than ever.
But he shakes himself out of his trance as he hears Remus asking if they can join you and your friend.
“These idiots have never played frisbee before, and I’m tired of trying to teach them. They’re desperate cases, at this point.”
“Thanks, Moony,” James mumbles under his breath, along with something about talent and a weird word… quid… something. You guess it must be a Scottish sport, as Sirius said he went to school there.
Why is he going to a school so far from home though?
You shake yourself. You don’t care. You don’t care about Sirius, about his friends, about their school, or about how the sun shines on Sirius’s magnificent eyelashes. You are about to decline the offer when Jackie grins and accepts… the traitor…
And you hate the rest of this afternoon. You hate it because everything goes smoothly. Sirius’s friends are a little weird but hilarious and nice. And Sirius is a little quieter than usual, but you’ve noticed the way his eyes linger on you, the way he can’t help staring…
And you hate it because you long for his gaze on you. Because you let your eyes drift towards his frame too. Because you feel happy and excited now that he’s near again. Because you want to kiss the cigarette taste away from his lips as he puffs out some smoke.
He catches you smiling dreamily as you look at his earing shining in the summer sun, and you hate the smirk that forms across his features as you shy away under his stare.
Damn, this charming boy…
And the afternoon passes too quickly, too soon already the sun has begun setting, and the park is about to close. You need to go home, and you don’t want to. You need to say farewell to Sirius all over again, and you don’t want to. And you hate him for that…
But as you’re about to part, about to say goodbye to turn around and never see him again, Sirius reaches for your hand, stare too intense to let you escape.
“Can we talk? Just for a minute?”
You struggle to swallow the lump in your throat, but nod anyway.
And you hate the look Jackie throws at you, the knowing kind. You hate everything about today. You hate the softness of Sirius’s palm, the gentleness of his hold as he pulls you away from the group, the warmth of his skin spreading under yours.
You hate everything about him. You hate him… you hate him…
When he turns around, a wild strand of hair swings across his cheek, escaping from his bun, and you hate it too. You hate how good he looks right now, how you long to reach out and brush the hair behind his ear…
“Can I be brutally honest?”
He stares at you intensely again, and there’s confidence in his stature, in the way he leans towards you, in the urgency of his tone. Still, his voice trembles.
“Sure, go ahead.”
He takes a deep breath.
“I want you.”
Your eyes grow round at that, and you hate him. You hate him because you like hearing these words coming from his mouth, because you want nothing but to kiss him…
“I know that last time we… we decided not to see each other again, but… the truth is, I want you. And I… I want us to give it a shot.”
“Sirius, we’ve talked about this.”
“I know, but…”
“I haven’t changed my mind.”
“I have.”
You stop breathing altogether, your heart skips a few beats, and you hate it. You hate it so much you want to cry.
“I’ve changed my mind. I want to try this.”
“Are you playing with me?”
“No, I’m not.”
And you hate the fact that you can read in his eyes that he’s telling the truth.
“I want to try. I like you. A lot. And… these past couple of weeks… and seeing you again today, I’ve realized… I want to give this a try. Let’s go on another date.”
“But Sirius…”
“Give me another chance,” he interrupts you, taking a step closer. “Please… please give me another chance.”
And you want to say no. You want to slap him and you hate him because you’ve been hoping, dreaming of this moment even, and desperately so. And you hate yourself because you want to say yes, and you can’t help the words that pass your lips even if they’re so unbearably unwise.
“Okay,” you nod. “But you won’t get a third.”
He grins.
“Friday?”
Slowly, you nod.
“Friday.”
Before you can ask where you will meet, Sirius has reached up to cup your face, and has crushed his lips to yours.
And as you lose your fingers through his hair and melt into his arms, you love every second of it…

So I have a question.
First of all, since I don’t quite feel like going through all of your posts for one detail, what’s FPKs spiritual status or whatever? Has he regressed in part? If he’s still a god have his domains/aspects shifted with the feralisation?
Secondly, what of the rest of Hallownests pantheon (Not the Godseeker pantheons I mean the remaining higher beings of Hallownest, and I suppose the more special creatures like Bardoon since otherwise that’s a really short list)? How are their relations with FPK? Have they even met again? Do they even know he lives?
Hi! I have a tag for the most important ask responses and other AU related posts, both for the story as well as for understanding the characters better, the tag is #save. In case this link doesn't work properly, all of my tags are pinned to my blog, so I recommend checking that out!
I also have some responses related to the topic of gods in the AU, as well as where FPK lands in all of that. Here is one about The Radiance and Grimm's father, which also goes more in depth about how I see the gods. Here is another response related to The Radiance, which also touches on the topic of gods. And lastly, here is one that talks more about FPK (and mainly WL) and how he fits into the whole thing.
But to add something to my answer that I either came up with later or just didn't mention in the other posts (it will be long so I'll put the divider here)
As I mentioned in one of the posts, the gods generally inhabit their own areas. They are not omnipotent, which makes sense, since they are more like guides than creators. This means that certain areas develop cultures and terms that are somewhat exclusive to the region, and an example of such is the term "Dream Realm", which is only really used by the inhabitants of the Hallownest territory (the reason for which I'll explain later). Another interesting result of such scenario is that many mortals travel between countries and kingdoms in order to reach their gods and seek their guidance. I think it would add a pretty fascinating element to their world, one that is not actually that far-fetched from canon, as the Godseeker traveled in search of other gods after the ones of their homeland perished.
There are two distinct "categories" of gods in the AU: the old gods and the new gods, and most of the higher beings we know belong to the latter. The old gods were more like what you picture when you think of a god: a powerful being you devote yourself to, but one you cannot see or touch. This was the old way of the gods, though these days it's very much a thing of the past - most of them choose to create a physical form to walk among the mortals and interact with them, some even blend into their world to the point where it's not as easy to tell that they are in fact gods. Many of them care not for worship, and instead prefer to have a more personal connection with the mortals. A notable exception was The Radiance - she was obsessed with the old gods and their way of life, she refused to create a physical form, and drew most of her power from the worship given to her. This earned her the nickname Grimm would often use mockingly - The Old Light. Though for the longest time, she actually flourished. Worshipping her was the main "religion" of the Hallownest territory for quite some time, and the Moth tribe that she created served as a way for mortals to communicate with her. This was done through their dreams, which eventually coined the phrase "The Dream Realm", first to refer to The Radiance's domain, though over time it became the main term to use for other god realms, even if they were not related to the concept of dreams. But with time, the new way of gods overshadowed her rule, and eventually the mortals turned away from The Radiance, instead devoting themselves to higher beings they could see and interact with.
This is where FPK came into the picture, as I mentioned before, he learned his powers and thus was not a real god, but in the eyes of mortals he was just as worthy of worship as any other higher being. At that point, The Radiance was already weak, and we know the rest of the story so I won't get into it now.
And since we're on the topic of FPK: before advanced civilization developed, the gods would instead guide the course of nature itself, which at that time was full of now prehistoric creatures. Giant, imposing beasts dominated the world, and wyrms were one of such species. But eventually that megafauna would slowly die off, passing the torch to smaller creatures and allowing them to evolve and develop (similarly to how the extinction of dinosaurs allowed small mammals to flourish). I like to think that this common ancestor was quite insect-like in its appearance, which is why those traits are quite commonly present in modern species (though they are notably not actual insects). Wyrm were the last of those gigantic species, due to their unusual ability to stop aging, which eventually led to intense cannibalism and their eventual extinction.
FPK was born in the very last generation of wyrms, when their numbers were already dwindling. He was a small, weak, leucistic wyrm, which inevitably made him an outcast for his species. After he matured and left his nest, he began hiding from his kind, as he knew he had no chance of fighting back. That is when he stumbled upon the lore tablets left by the gods. Soul magic was notably difficult to learn, and while there are mortals who know how to use it, their short lifespans mean that they die before they can reach its full potential. FPK was just the right creature to learn the magic and perfect it - he spent almost 200 years studying the tablets and developing his skills, and by the time he changed forms and created the kingdom, he already reached levels of power comparable to that of the gods (though he still lacked a lot of their abilities that he was not able to learn with soul, which I mentioned in one of the linked posts).
But since his power was learned, not natural to him, it was inherently linked to his mind, his memory, and his experiences. And as he fell into hibernation, his oldest memories began to get slowly erased, which included the very basics of soul magic. This meant that, when he was woken up (thankfully before he lost most of his memories), he had no knowledge of how to utilize his powers, and thus was not able to sustain himself with soul (I recommend this post for more details on the importance of this ability in particular for him, as well as his feral nature). While it is technically possible for him to re-learn those basics and become powerful again, he chooses not to for personal reasons - he became too dependent on it, to the point where he was starving himself, and he generally associates it with the worst moments of his life.
So after hibernation, he is pretty much exactly the way he was in his childhood, though obviously in a different physical form. He doesn't age (which was a trait Hornet inherited from him), but aside from that, he doesn't know any magic.
---
I'll return to the topic of other gods, to give some more details on them and their relation to FPK. The list, as you pointed out, is not particularly long, but with the previous context I think it makes sense.
First, there's The Radiance and The Nightmare (now known as The Nightmare King/Grimm), the two siblings and the children of The Dream Lord (name is subject to change since I haven't sat down to create a design for him yet), who is now dead as noted in one of the linked posts. I won't go into too much detail on what their domains and responsibilities are, refer back to the posts I linked.
Then there is The White Lady. I mentioned that I imagine she would be the god of fertility, and perhaps she would also watch over the flora of the region. She would be the god to seek in topics related to fertility or crops, I imagine.
Quite related to WL's domain is Unn, who watches over the wilderness, particularly the fauna (though she is also responsible for the vegetation of the region, which is where she clashes with WL). She is one of the few gods of the region who actually created her own followers, though she is always welcoming to any mortal who seeks her aid.
Lastly, there is The Shade Lord, a unique higher formed from void itself, which does not have a domain of its own. Instead, it stood opposed to The Dream Lord - balancing the hopeful dreams with chaos and doubts. But it became dangerous, and so The Dream Lord sacrificed himself to seal it away in the Abyss (Ghost united the void one last time to defeat The Radiance, but The Shade Lord as it was known once is gone).
Now, there is also the possibility of there being other gods, which were never encountered by Ghost. For instance, the hot springs imply the existence of possible volcanic activity in the region, so perhaps there is a god whose domain connects to fire and heat? Perhaps they could serve a similar role to Hephaestus in Greek mythology, and be the guide to all the blacksmiths of the region?
There may also be a god related to Lifeblood, I think there is an implication that it comes from a higher being like source. They could be the god you seek in matters related to health and vitality. But then again, Lifeblood itself is so strange that it may as well just be some kind of drug hahaha
And again, FPK was never part of that pantheon of gods, The Radiance notably considered him a fraud and rejected him. But the other gods, which are much closer to the mortals, were more open to welcoming him among their kind. His marriage to WL earned him the title of a Pale Being, and while he was not able to become part of the matters of gods (his inability to enter The Higher Plane was the biggest factor here), he was still considered a god by all the mortals.
He did meet with WL after coming back, though as I mentioned before, since they divorced, he only rarely pays her visits - their new lives are almost completely separate. Unn was definitely aware of his return, after all, he frequently hunts in her territory. She definitely watched him closely to ensure he wasn't overhunting the animal population, but since he only does that to satisfy his hunger, she never had to intervene. The Radiance is dead, and Grimm is married to him so not much to add here.
---
Also, since you mentioned Bardoon. I think his species may be a quite recent descendant of one of those prehistoric beasts, which would explain his size and knowledge of wyrms. So he's definitely in the same category that FPK was in when he was born.
---
This turned out really long, but I hope it's a satisfying answer. Again, I definitely recommend checking out the posts I linked, as well as scrolling through the #save tag (especially if you want to learn more about the more personal aspects of the characters). I tried to make it as easy to understand as possible, but again, the AU is not a serious writing project, I definitely make it up as I go, so there is a chance that some things don't quite add up or are a bit convoluted. So if you have any more questions or want me to elaborate on something, feel free to send me another ask!

Fawful Month Day 19: AU
sorry this is a written one.
Immortal Fool as a whole is technically the AU, but what if game canon events were the AU to ifool's storyline?
What if every lifechanging decision Fawful ever made created an offshoot timeline which became accessible via timewarping?
What if that decision to not leave Cackletta's side, which eventually led to Ifool's second beanstar incident, was the offshoot point that forced Geno to come back down to earth where he lives as a mortal, rivals Bowser over Peach, and tears the very curtains of the Star Realm which revealed corruptively-controlling intentions of the higher authority and its use of Star Children?
What if the events of Bowsers Inside Story happened regardless of what life decision Fawful originally made?
His canon timeline marked in the dark red is very short because anything after BiS offshoots into headcanons. In that timeline, he was 12 years old. BiS post-ifool would have him in his early to mid-20s. The fact that manipulating bowser and taking his castle was part of the process to throw the kingdom into chaos makes things go very sour between him and Kamek. Whether Fawful survives the dark star, gets killed by it, or takes Margie's advice (the new hooniversity boss) and pulls out between the point where Bowser defeats him and the dark star consumes him, will all offshoot into their own timelines.
PIT technically wouldn't happen outside the canon timeline because Gadd's time machine was moved to beanbean when he worked there, but Fawful would still hide in the shadows of the mushroom kingdom planning that dark star plot... at a later time.
You also see Gadd's time machine used a lot here. fawful himself never used it, but the Hooniversity and their new boss Margie has. It has been used, busted, and used again a significant number of times and that was how they've learned of offshoot timelines. Fawful does have a deep understanding of how Gadd's tech works thanks to the Cackletta Revival project, so once Gadd is deceased from old age, Fawful is the only one Geno and Kamek knows that can repair it after Margie and the Hooniversity students destroyed it, but when he does it depends on his mental state which depends on whether or not he went after the dark star.
Outside of Ifool's timeline, the hooniversity collapses after Fawful and Cackletta destroyed it and it stays a mess. The jellyfish girl never even enters the place and therefore, never meets Fawful As to why Geno needs to time travel and chase after Rosalina, that maybe will be an entry for Geno month. This is Fawful month.

Another rant about my "YHS Grian gets time travel-kidnapped to participate in an MCC" daydream/au, with a focus/reflection on how permadeath worlds would affect skills, except it's not a rant it's a 1.2k - 1.8k oneshot
When Grian finds out the future version of himself got signed up to...whatever this is, he has enough to be surprised at - they're on a series of floating islands, and use a portal to travel between islands that are larger apart, something Grian's only ever seen when he traveled between England and Japan.
He saw that when [Jimmy? Timmy? Did he have to check his hearing after all this time of using firearms?] was injured after being turned from a 27 year old into a teen, he got disqualified since he wouldn't be healed by the time this whole championship started, Grian decided to not share the bullet wound at his hip [Timmy was more than eager to tell him where one of the "admins" had stored some bandages once he figured out where the clinic was].
And then they got their first round of training, courtesy of Scott wanting to make the team's more balanced to skill level when the event was closer - it was a simple game in his opinion, fill in 9 blocks with your teams color and kill your opponents before they get you [Grian wished he could say that he wasnt used to death matches being considered training.] A kid named Tommy, about 11 years old was [incredibly reasonably] distressed about murdering other kids and was disqualified, so Grian was glad he learned to keep his mouth shut.
He wasn't the best by any means, but he was more than good enough to avoid dying, his team having 3 people that were on wool duty with him and a girl named False being the only ones confident in their fighting ability. False got injured, and Grain thought she died if not for the fact she reappeared without any injuries after the round was over. Grian didn't find the time to ask and False didn't catch any of his questioning expressions, but his teammates kept getting injured and were praising him on not getting hurt [how would he have gotten this far in the Yakuza otherwise?? How did you get cut across the abdomen with an iron sword and survive? Why is he the only one freaking out ?] So Grian played it off and accepted the compliments as best he could.
The last round they didn't get the wool capture, and the other team was out for blood. Grian saw False get shot in the head by an arrow and somehow survived a 3 v 1, shooting two of the players with a shot in his shoulder and watching the last player run to place the wool, ending the game with 1 loss for his team.
He felt dizzy for a moment and closed his eyes, opening them back up to see he was teleported back onto the main island, a leaderboard infront of him. Grian felt his shoulder, confused that the blood that had stained his blue uniform [he really needed to ask for a comfier change of clothes at some point] was gone and his shoulder was just fine, even if he felt the phantom pain of the arrow, quickly fading.
The leaderboard placed him in the upper middle of players, which was worse than he expected. Everyone around him was talking to each other excitedly though, so maybe MCC was only a place where seasoned professionals played and he wasn't as numbed to death as he thought. The Yakuza in his town weren't really high quality, nothing in that town was anyway.
"Hey." Grian jumped, startled at the voice and turned to his right to see False [he made eye contact with her forehead more than her eyes, not quite able to understand how she was alive. No one could survive that, he knew that much.]. Awkward silence made itself known for a few moments, False clearing her voice and snapping Grian back to reality. "Good job. You only got hit once."
"....Yeah."
"I'm saying that it's impressive. Where did you learn to do that?"
"Oh. Uh, death matches are common where I live, you kind of just..." Grian looked away from False entirely, glancing over at people in the crowd he could have sworn were dead and another count of blood on his hands. "Have to know how to survive that, or you learn the hard way."
Grian heard False mumble some agreement and walk away, narrowing his eyes at the leaderboard. He needed to figure out which adult was trustworthy enough to ask about this without getting a target in his back, as soon as possible.
In the end, he decided to ask Timmy. He was still in the clinic so surely some adult would have shared something with him, and he didn't rat out Grian for having a bullet wound ["What's a bullet?" "...a piece of metal that's used in a gun." "What's a gun?" "No wonder your in the infirmary"].
"Do you know anything about people dying and coming back?" Grian stated out of the blue, the first 5 minutes of his visit being pure silence on Grian's part to make sure an admin wouldnt come by to check up on Timmy's wounds anytime soon.
"What? Whaddya mean, Gri?"
"I mean that people keep dying and coming back. Injuries in games disappear randomly. I've seen at least like, 8 people die in the past week multiple times and all of them seem to be fine. No one's questioning it at all and-"
"waitwaitwaitwait-ow-" Timmy started waving his hands to motion for Grian to stop talking, flinching when it stretched his injury and stopped to hold his stomach where the injury was, but still eyed Grian as if he was insane. It made Grian immediately regret asking. "Are you seriously- do you not know about respawning?"
"No, unless you mean it in terms of the Gamecrab."
"I don't know what that is but -oh my god, I never thought I had to explain this ever -respawning is what happens whenever you die. Most of the time the only thing that happens is your inventory gets wiped, and you might feel like however you died for a bit or whatever injury you had last."
Grian deadpanned, getting his thoughts across very clear and making Timmy throw his hands up in exasperation. "I'm serious! How is it you've never heard of respawning, did you live on a hardcore world or something?"
"define hardcore."
"....oh my god you cannot be-" Timmy took a breath, pinching the bridge of his nose and muttering to himself for a few seconds before talking louder at Grian. "-Hardcore is used to define permadeath worlds with added difficulty to them. If you die your done forever, and even a shot to the arm can be bad enough to kill you."
"..oh,-"
"but I KNOW your not from a permadeath world because that was made illegal, right?" Grian heard a tone in Timmy's voice that sounded like Sam when he was about to snap, and decided to not ever bring this up again, responding immediately and eyeing the door.
"yup, I cant even imagine what that would be like -when was that made illegal, out of curiosity?"
"1337? seriously what-?" Grian was up from his chair and out the door before Jimmy could finish his sentence.
—————————
My version of YHS Grian is much less prone to questioning things than actual YHS Grain, and that's because this daydream is A. Made by someone who never finished YHS and B. Because it emphasizes to me the skills you would need to learn to survive living with a delusional serial killer and being in the Yakuza in general, much less a town with adults that aren't doing anything and at some points actively putting students in danger with zero consequences except for maybe getting murdered by the students.
Alot of fanfiction I see that follow the YHS -> Hermitcraft Grian timeline make him the god of combat/PVP and the most traumatized skrunkly in the world. I'm not going to deny that I may be doing the second trope can you blame me it's good content but humans learn from making mistakes, and knowing you'll survive combat gives you a hell of a lot more confidence to be more aggressive and taking risks that pay off later. I imagine children in Minecraft are just kind of thrown outside and taught how to deal with a creeper by blowing up and crying to their mom about how much it hurts to die until they stop dying or are old enough to learn to move past the pain of dying, which would have it's own psychological consequences but like. Psychological consequences of a world without death is for another post this is about how said world would compare against a world of mortality and the fear of death being less equivalent to a spider and more equivalent to the fear of being forgotten.
Anyway what im getting at here is that I think when YHS Grain is written he needs to stop being written as a PVP god, he needs to instead be written as the god of survival. It's not that he knows how to most effectively use a weapon or he can find weak points in an enemy quicker or any of that, what makes him Grian Dreamslayer is that he has the skill of dodging and misdirection, of near misses that give him just enough of an upper hand that it doesn't matter if he doesn't know how to use a sword because he thinks that if he gets hit in his stomach or chest he's not coming back, and he knows to aim for the chest of his opponent. He's absolute shit at hiding, but he knows when to identify that you've found him and when to run.
Can you tell I have a hyperfixation anyway if you read my last post I have become aware that cannibalism doesnt actually happen the way I thought it did so just like. Ignore that bit that's been vanished and if you didn't read my last post uh. I don't watch MCC and I don't watch Falsesymmetry so like feel free to critique my characterization or give me ideas this is fully self indulgent so any advice is only going to help me make up more silly things while I'm daydreaming and I might make another post about this [i have more than enough content to make like 3 similarly sized posts of this i just don't have any knowledge of who is in MCC and how they act ive literally had to search up "MCC competitors" every time i post about this]

hands up tell me abt Your star trek au right now!! on the double bro. what are the tensions it all looks too kind & magical i don’t trust it yet
(if it is literally kind & wonderful i am grateful i am thankful i am honored i’d just like to hear more)
-@jack-kellys
i'm ngl my star trek au au is mostly running on vibes wbwbwb so it is pretty kind and happy and warm (i just really like how much everyone in the enterprise's crew has such a respect and care for each other yknow. found family and all that innit).
that being said, here are some funky things about the characters ive been thinking about lately (under a cut because i'm incapable of being concise):
the stars were essentially jack's santa fe. he grew up surrounded by stories of starship captains and space and it became his lifelong dream and ambition to captain a starship, something which he dropped everything to attain. now he is captain of a starship– one of the youngest in starfleet's history– and it's wonderful and fantastic and he's never felt more alive! but there's always something gnawing at the back of his mind (he's based his entire life up until this point around this moment, it was a driving force and a beacon to look up to when times were tough. what if the experience is nothing like his dreams and he ends up disappointed? what happens when the mission's over? what'll become of him?).
also starfleet's assigned him a galaxy-class starship with families onboard and he's having a Time because of it (what if they get hurt under his watch. what if he gives the wrong order and a child dies. starfleet officers know the risks of space travel and are aware of this but the families. the children). other than that he's having a great time !!
kath's half-betazoid on her mother's side, but she never knew her mother nor has she ever been to betazoid (i really went woe! being mixed and only connected to one of your cultures but still being unable to fit in even there because of the fact that you're mixed be upon ye!). she's trying real hard to learn more about betazoid and who her mother is even though she knows she won't really feel like she "belongs" in betazoid either. she's working on understanding and using her empathic/telepathic powers more.
oh also!! pulitzer is a notorious and not-well liked admiral, when kath joined the acedmy she officially had her name changed to plumber and has since told no-one that they're related (this surely won't backfire terribly on her in the future)
also because this is the spot (cat) show, kath loves spot (cat) and wants to babysit her and play with her but alas. she is allergic to cats
race cannot catch a break– he's got a massive losing streak at senior officer poker night, spot (cat) hates him, he can't grow a beard but every time theres an impostor/clone/mirror universe situation the other version of him always has a beard (this is half in jest but also it amuses me wbwb)
jokes aside, i've been having a whole bunch of race as first officer thoughts (and a lot of riker and race parallel thoughts but. that's another story). i don’t really know how to explain it other than the way riker acts in the last episode of tng season two (yes, the riker montage episode) when facing death (joking around and keeping up the appearance of flippancy and courage in the face of agonising death because he’s first officer and there are people who look up to him and he has to set an example) seemed very race and very kony to me, in a way. (youve got this to blame for riker beard race. im not sorry)
race is also one of the first people to advocate for les becoming acting ensign. he makes it very clear that he's in les' corner and makes himself responsible for his studies and sometimes his training (and he teaches him poker).
OH ALSO! sarah and davey didnt know les ws going to be onboard and only found out about his presence after they'd set off. did he sneak onboard?? mayyyybeee (he just really wants to be a starfleet officer). after the initial shock (and notifying their parents) sarah and davey start the Let Les on the Bridge campaign (letting him watch the bridge from the turbolift, helping out in sciences and engineering, etc etc) the that eventually leads to les becoming acting ensign. it reaches a point where most of jack's senior officers would probably mutiny all for this kid.
there's more stuff but i'll stop rambling now because, again, i have a problem with being concise wbwbw. thankyou soso much for the ask rizz once again i love your star trek au so much and am always eager to hear more wbwbw!!! :D

here’s my au pitch
deidre is on her way to kaer morhen to give eskel the worst surprise ever, and on her way meets our fave caravan
she’s first alerted to something wrong in the particular forest she’s travelling in when her two wolves suddenly become alert and growling. she then hears a “what the fuck?” and two pairs of bright eyes step out of the darkness - dragonfly and gaetan. they’re basically like “damn we could smell human and wolf, so we were like okay if they’re dead we can rob them, and if they’re alive we can save them and THEN demand their stuff. did not expect a weird little girl talking to some mangy wolves. weird. just gonna head out.”
so they’re trying to leave and she’s scrambling (but trying to look cool and put together) after them like WAIT you’re Witchers. and they’re leaving like no thank you you seem way too poor to hire us (still listening though because weirder things have happened). so this girl starts demanding to meet eskel of the wolves and they’re just exchanging glances and dragonfly is finally like fuck it, this is a guxart problem.
so they bring her back to the caravan and guxart is immediately like no. no no no. what part of no more feral children did you people not understand. and gaetan just points and goes idk man this kid is looking for wolves. and guxart is like okay, pause. why.
so deidre, who frankly is a royal through and through, puffs up and declares that she’s eskels child surprise and she has to go find him and he’s going to help her get her throne back.
so naturally all the other cats have been pretending to work since this all began (nosey bastards) and now everyone is someone on a scale of snickering to full blown cracking up. guxart just raises a brow and is like. uh huh. good luck with that sweetie.
deidre is pissed bc she hates not being taken seriously. this becomes a back and forth until guxart is finally like okay im not taking responsibility for a wolves child surprise dropping dead, so at the next available sign of settlement we are dropping this child off (privately he’s wondering how the fuck wolves manage to pull people into their drama orbit even when they’re all tucked up in the damn mountains).
since dragonfly and gaetan did this, guxart (he refuses to admit gleefully) assigns deidre as their problem until she’s gone.
the next week or so, they learn more about this weird weird girl. they find out she’s supposedly cursed, supposedly a mutant and also super super rude. they’ve got her pulling her weight, and every time one of them makes a snide comment about how the fuck she expects to take back an entire kingdom when she can barely cut some wood or skin a rabbit has her gritting her teeth.
eventually she ends up snapping at telling one of them to fuck right off. which finally gets some approval. deidre is a little surprised to find that the more blunt and open she is about how she’s feeling, the more helpful these assholes actually are. dragonfly managed to scope out some old trainee gear for her and gaetan actually threw her some (safe) poultice for her calluses and bruises.
thus begins the beautiful and slightly terrifying friendship/mentorship, with deidre being told (as usual) that her dreams of being queen are slightly stupid, and (not the usual) having it laid out WHY that’s a bad idea.
“pick your own path kid,” dragonfly tells her and throws her a new knife. “besides how are you meant to flirt with beautiful women if you’re stuck as a boring queen.”
deidre turns and gives her a guarded yet confused look. “you’re a woman…what do you mean flirt with women??” (dragonfly has kicked open a whole ass can of worms. dragonfly is now responsible for helping this repressed ass girl learn everything from SCRATCH. gaetan laughs his ass off until it’s his turn too.)

At the end Donnie Darko realizes that by avoiding death at the beginning of the film, he created a separate and unstable branch of time, and in order to save Gretchen, and his mom and little sister, he has to accept his death & time travel back to that night and let himself die to correct the timeline. Is TW a separate branch caused by Dean, and Dean has to accept his death to correct it, so s1 ends with a rewind and John and Mary meeting again?
Um close but different. It's that It Was Always A Different Branch. He's not Making A New Timeline. Dean already broke the timeline before he was ever born.
Like, even Original Supernatural, in this context, means that The Timeline We Know Was Already Influenced By Dean.
This isn't a new idea. After all, we have to go back to the beginning, like Dean said. In The Beginning, the same point of buying a certain car even Chuck said was the beginning and end of it all. But it's not about the car, it's about the road it takes them on.
This resonance becomes even deeper than In The Beginning in the new framework.
Just as Jack went cosmogenic and exploded before and beyond spacetime to make it loud; just as Rowena went cosmic unbirthing hell; Cas, and heaven essentially, as will be explained to those that lost the original Occultum threads, but essentially mirror Rowena, hence Queen Bee--pop star diva alias, we all know his favorite.
It's Dean's turn as Cosmic Humanity(TM). The Deanmanity that Chuck looked at in season 11 talking, implicitly, about souls. Something greater than his pride or Ego that was there waiting to be born, that just is, like he and amara just were; that he feared as equals, like Amara, and set up systems of control and self extermination since he couldn't do it himself.
That Humanity.
That Humanity lost its face, its identity, knows who it's not, but not who it is. And at The 70s Spacetime, Humanity Itself is becoming an angry spirit and rattling time while it's stuck in its own cage. John and Mary save The Whole World. Dean Winchester.
Cas cared about the Whole World because of him. John and Mary, despite the future it gives her, choose the path they choose, together, because they ran their own race, they made their own rules, and mostly, they do okay with that.
And Humanity chooses this life, rather than to seal itself away or fade into oblivion or let Some Other Person Named Dean In Some Other World do it. This is Dean. Dean IS the One but he's also finding The One. Because this is a romance.
So it's not that we're watching an alternate reality. It's the same reality. It's always been this, because Dean Always Chose This, even if in mortal life he didn't understand why. Why Humanity chose to be born here. to NOT be the S13-14 burnt out AU they were never born in. Even if he could have lived coffeeshop What Is And Should Never Be, even if he could have been a Richester. To fight these hard fights. But it's not just about what and how they fought, who they lost or how they died.
It's about how they lived. Who they loved. What they learned, and what they chose. John, Mary, Dean, whoever. They already made their choices. Dean's just here to understand, and accept, why he made those choices, to understand Who I Am.
Would you do it over again? from different worlds. Or with all the pain. Would you do it over again, Ada? I followed my heart. I don't think that's ever a mistake. The day your dad left, neither of us stopped to say. I am never letting you walk out that door again, without telling you, that I love you. Me too. What's wrong with you? I don't--I can't--then SPEAK. I-- I--

AO3 wrapped!
Respond to this with what you would call the top 5 fanfics you’ve read in 2022. Any genre! Any ship! (Bonus points: if you’re a creator, make this a 5+1 and include your favorite fic you wrote in 2022!)
Then leave this in your friends’ asks too. Let’s give creators one more spotlight before the year ends, and share some of what we’ve enjoyed along the way!
You sending this: haha it'll be a fun way to wrap up the year!
Me for the past 2 weeks thinking about this nonstop every time I have a spare second: what WERE my top fics of 2022??
I've carefully picked out the below, but there are many, many, MANY fics that I enjoyed this year, so picking just 5 was so hard okay 😭 that being said, all of these are codywan recs except one (besides codywan and TOA fic I don't think I read anything else this year... Well, besides The Desert Storm which is an ongoing series, but which I recommend to every person, whether you like Star Wars and whether you like time travel or not). I've posted the below fics in the order I read them so no favouritism in the order they're listed!
this road is meant for two [10.2k] by @skatzaa
“Cody,” came a voice from behind him. The Jedi. The traitor. “Run. Use your jet pack.” “Shut up,” CC-2224 snarled. He could barely see through the pain, but he leveled his blaster rifle again. “I’m not leaving you behind again, General—”
This was my gift for FFFX and let me say I seriously won the jackpot with this one!! It really has so so much tailored for me, like time travel of codywan from tatooine into a clone wars fix it, the angst of purge trooper Cody and him struggling with what he did, trans Obi-Wan, hurt/comfort, established relationship, it was funny, and most importantly, Palps got killed 😊
Good Soldiers [7.2k] by @elwenyere
“Have I ever commended you on the vast array of sentiments you manage to convey with your ‘sirs’?” Obi-Wan asked wryly. “Someday I will persuade you to drop the appearance of formality - at least when you’re telling me I’m full of shit.” “You’re welcome to keep believing that, sir,” Cody allowed. “Everyone needs something to look forward to.” The rest of Obi-Wan’s smile faded, his expression growing thoughtful. “Yes,” he murmured, “I suppose they do.” ----- Or, 5 Times Cody and Obi-Wan Followed Orders + 1 Time They Followed Each Other
I just remember reading this summary, and even before I clicked it I was like YES!!!! This person understands the characters and their dynamic and the prose is excellent, this fic is going to be freaking awesome. And I was right! It balances character growth and plot brilliantly, and the construction of each section is so thoughtful and combines into an incredibly crunchy whole. I was so disappointed when I checked the author's profile to find that this was their only codywan fic, but elwen has since graced us with many excellent works, and I recommend anything that she has written!
Thirty-One Sons, Thirteen Moons [32.7k] by sual
“This can’t keep happening,” Jango says despairingly. He’s said this almost every year for the past twenty-five of them. “Well,” Cody slowly replies, looking down at the squalling baby the witch has left on their doorstep, “what’s one more mouth to feed when you’re already feeding thirty?" - In Cody's latest attempt to sacrifice himself for his family, he finally learns how to want something for himself. Modern AU with magic.
Urban fantasy is my favourite genre, and this fic captures everything I adore about it - the inclusion of magic into the setting is so natural and informs the plot deliciously. I usually am a very hard sell on modern AUs and on relationships of convenience, but the excellent writing and Obi-Wan's gender fuckery got me hooked, and I'm so very glad I gave this one a chance. It's such a great idea, executed super awesomely and the smut throughout is sooo hot augh
Meg & Apollo's Highly Limited Roadtrip Playlist [3.2k] by Curioser [and the prequel as a bonus!]
Fourteen hundred miles. Four radio stations. Two friends trying hard not to kill each other, or to acknowledge the fact that in less than a week, they may never see each other again. And Lizzo. So much Lizzo.
Reading this immediately after finishing the TOA books made me sooooooo emo like you have NO idea!!! Meg and Apollo's relationship was the core part of TOA that I enjoyed the most, and this fic made me see that relationship in a different light, gave me a different view as this is from Meg's POV instead of Apollo's like the books are, and introduced me to a whole bunch of new music too. It feels far too short for the amount of gutpunches contained within - the comparisons between their fathers, their situations and lives, and how they're coping with that, all made me sooo overwhelmed like aaaaaa *insert screaming cat meme* they're best friends. They're best friends!!!!
shelter from the storm [3.1k] by @inkformyblood
A sandstorm means that Cody and Obi-Wan have to spend days inside. They find ways to pass the time. - Obi-Wan’s voice is low and Cody can almost picture his expression despite not quite being able to pick out his features; the incline to his head is almost hungry, his eyes half-lidded and thoughtful. “I’m sure you have several suggestions already.” “Only several?” Cody punctuates the question with a kiss, drawing Obi-Wan’s hand to his mouth rather than chance finding his mouth in the semi-shadows. The split lip hadn’t been worth it with the benefit of hindsight, regardless of how attractive the gesture had seemed at the time. Cody’s lips brush against the rough edge of a bacta patch, an old one worn and reused until it is more placebo than curative, but Cody still skirts around the edge of it, kissing the seams of Obi-Wan’s fingers and tasting salt.
This was another gift for me and it is just so so so good 🥺 I love how magpie writes codywan as the flow between them, their characters, their banter and their relationship is so lovely and amazing! Codywan on tatooine are my favourite version of codywan, and it is nailed here - the yearning and the grief and the closeness that comes from being the only two people in the galaxy. Plus trans Obi-Wan has my whole heart, which was the cherry on top of the rest of this excellent fic
Plus 1 - the favourite fic you wrote in 2022
Whaaaat a question, oof. This was hard, but I've picked the one that I enjoyed writing the most, as well as one I've reread a dozen times or so this year since I think I did a good job in it!
Stand By Me [34.7k] by Serie11
Cody and Obi-Wan renovate a house together out in the Dune Sea. Along the way, they discover something else worth keeping.
I wrote this in like 4 weeks as a gift for Emi, and the process came together to really deliver what I wanted, and Emi really enjoyed it, so it was just a really enjoyable process the whole way through!

ILL ADMIT IM STILL TRYING TO FIGURE THIS OUT TOO
Currently the best working idea I have is something like this:
So it’s been a couple years at this point since he’d been turned, and maybe Holly gets into a minor accident. Nothing life threatening, but definitely a “oh this injury usually comes with older age” type thing and it’s enough for the full meaning of his agelessness to finally hit. Sure, normally this wouldn’t have meant much, its expected that kids outlive their parents, but knowing that the outliving is because of something unnatural, something monstrous…… well, that changes things
And this puts Jotaro in a not great mental place for a bit. After all, currently the sole reason he’s still able to live his life one day at a time is for her. And he…… genuinely doesn’t know what he would do with his life after she’s gone. Is it even worth living if she’s just going to die anyways? Should he even try??? He’s not even supposed to be alive after all, he should’ve died in Egypt
For weeks he ponders these things, walking for hours every night, leaving the house as soon as the sun is out of sight and just barely making it back when its deadly rays light the Earth once more
Sometimes he wonders what would happen if he stayed out for a bit longer
He never does, stopped only by the thought of his mother’s grief
He never really has anywhere in particular he travels to either. Anywhere he can reach and return from by the time the sun rises is fair game, and with super speed, stamina, and the ability to stop time that is very far
He finds himself drawn to tall places though. Bridges, towers, buildings, taller than average trees, you name it, he’s probably climbed it. Sometimes, when it’s abandoned and unnoticeable enough, he’ll even jump off instead of climbing down for those fleeting moments of weightlessness and freedom. Besides, it’s not like the fall’s going to kill him. At worst it’s a minor inconvenience
and what if during one of these times, he met someone.
A woman, an exchange student from America to be specific, who naturally had no idea he was immortal and thus was naturally very concerned.
Perhaps they meet a few more times. They talk, they grow closer, meet more and more and as the months pass by they even begin to fall in love
But it’s still so, so early into Jotaro’s life as a vampire. He still fears himself, still hates himself, and most importantly he fears loosing the people he loves. And that spark he began to feel for Jolyne’s mom? It terrified him
He stopped showing up after that.
Naturally and understandably, Jolyne’s mom gets pretty upset about this. Unfortunately for her though…… there isn’t really a whole lot she can do about it. She never got Jotaro’s last name, and he didn’t actually live in the area so she couldn’t just accidentally meet him again. She still tries to do some research to find him, but comes up completely empty. Eventually she gives up her search, returns to America and it’s like the whole thing never even happened
…….except for the fact that upon her return she learns that she’s now pregnant
However, unlike Giorno’s mother, she actually pays attention to and cares for her child, and thus ends up noticing Jolyne’s…… differences. The sun sensitivity, the preference for meats, sharp teeth, the slightly enhanced physical abilities, the regeneration, the list goes on and on and after a few years she is able to put together the facts and realizes her daughter is a vampire….. or at least something similar
On one hand, she’s VERY pissed that Jotaro never said anything about this and just up and disappeared on her without even a note or goodbye. However on the other, this explains so much about him and she does understand why he wouldn’t just say it, plus she doubted he knew she was pregnant(this one was technically hopeful thinking since she had no real was of knowing, and if she was proved wrong then she’d be even more pissed(dw she’s right, Jotaro has no idea))
So now she’s doing her best to raise a super natural daughter as a single mother while also doing everything in her power to keep said daughter secret and safe
Jolyne naturally knew she wasn’t “normal,” and while her mom didn’t talk about her father much(partially out of genuinely not knowing much) she was able to piece together that it mostly likely came from him. This time around she’s less bitter about him not being around enough and more about the fact that he just. Straight up doesn’t exist. Her mom admittedly does try to mitigate this, but only because of the fact that as far as she knew Jotaro had no idea Jolyne existed despite her best efforts to find him one more(again, also true Jotaro has no idea)
As for Part 6……
When Jolyne had been told she’d been sent something by her father, she’d been incredibly confused. She didn’t have a father. She still accepts the locket and it’s strange metal shard, accidentally pricking herself in the process (and minor note, unlike canon this locket doesn’t have a picture inside of it)
And then a few days when he VISITS...... she's even more surprised. She expected an older man, not someone who looked young enough to be her brother. Naturally she doesn’t trust him, she’s never even seen this man before, and technically she doesn’t even know if they’re even actually related.
The escape would go mostly the same I’d imagine, just this time with Jotaro’s gunshot wounds mostly being a distraction. He still gets his memory and Stand yoinked because of the distraction, but at least he’d not bleeding out so...... yay?
Jolyne also gets to see her comatose father begin to crumble to dust in the sun which Was Definitely An Experience
As for why Jotaro showed up and knew Jolyne existed....... honestly the best thing I got is the Foundation starting to look into Strange Possible Stand Phenomena of the past and also more of what Dio did in his spare, discovering Pucci, and somewhere in all that research learning “oh shit, Jotaro has a kid”
Why did Pucci target her? .........idk, maybe Fate did some fuckery which led to him learning before anyone else
