A lake would be safe, they decided. You can’t swim away forever in a lake. So Daniel took Johnny fishing.
Johnny wouldn’t let Daniel watch him put on the skin. Daniel handed over the nice leather bag he’d purchased to keep it in—fuck Sid Weinberg and his shitty cardboard box—and Johnny disappeared behind a rock.
Daniel stood, breathing, willing himself not to peek. Then a splash, and suddenly there was a sleek brown head, fur shot through with gold, peeking out of the water.
Daniel gawped, crept closer. “Johnny?”
The seal drew back a flipper and splashed him.

Daniel took the boat out. He baited his rod, but mostly he watched Johnny frolic in the water, diving deep again and again.
He didn’t catch any fish.
But Johnny did. Brought them up in his mouth and dumped them into the boat, whiskers twitching as if to say, “Pathetic, LaRusso.”
Ashore again, Daniel built a fire. Johnny emerged, hair damp and shoulders easy. “Lame. I thought you liked sashimi.”
“As if I could get you to eat a single bite of raw fish with your human mouth—”
“Saving my human mouth for this,” Johnny said, and showed him.

Sure have!#I forgot how long it takes for Chimera Falin to come into play.#I still really love my 'better drawn' art of her - unfortunately it was several weeks too early for the anime only folks.#Slowly getting the hang of drawing Laios. I don't know why I struggle so much but I am getting...somewhere.#Meta time: God damn I love how the chimera shows off the expertise and gap between Kabru and Laios.#The truth is: they are both *right* and they are both *wrong*.#This creature is a combination of monster and human and they only have the skillset to deal with one of those.#Kabru goes for all the human vitals - but she isn't human.#Laios tries to approach her as a monster and is struck down by the humanity he sees in her.#She is something new that defies what they *both* understand about the world. And that makes her such a perfect antagonist.#The damsel was the dragon all along!#...She is really so cute though. Terrifying! But adorable. I am so excited to see the boom of fanart for her.
