Hi Blue! Hope you are great!
I’m rereading Favored Nations for the zillionth time and it occurred to me that I’ve always been curious about your choice to not make Roland and Jocelyn bigger parts of your world. Both are referenced once or twice, but nothing more. Given the wide net of Schitt’s Creek characters you pulled into this masterpiece, I was interested to know what your thoughts were on excluding them, if you’re willing to share. I can’t say I miss either of them, but their exclusion was notable to me since they’re the highest profile of the main characters who don’t really have a place in the story.
Thank you once again for creating a world that I love getting lost in every few months ❤️
Hi friend!
The original storyline I had for the fic had Jocelyn playing a much bigger role, but in the scope of the show, those two characters are very much in Johnny and Moira's orbit, instead of David and Patrick's. At the end of the day, I just couldn't fit them in, and I wanted Mutt to play a bigger role anyway. As you said, they didn't really have a place in the story. I was sad to not get them in, but never say never.
Thank you for reading!

Why I am wondering if she censored the name just because, well, it was herself answering to her own tweet?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
JK Rowling loves misogyny. Loves it. She loves it. Every woman who says “I am a feminist, I am ridding the world of misogyny", and spends all day tweeting mean things at trans people. Or gets on trans people's profiles and just says the most horrible, cruel things... That's not how you end misogyny. So we can all see from your actions that you don't actually want misogyny to go away. JK Rowling uses the fact that misogyny is real, it does exists, to be the constant victim. And in her warped, awful morality, she thinks being a victim entitles her to victimize anyone that she wants to. That bullying is what TERFs are addicted to. And they will do anything about misogyny.
... VAVUSKA'S TWO CENTS ...
J. K. Rowling not only was a survivor of domestic violence and sexual assault, but also faced misogyny im publishing field: explaining why she wrote under her initials, J.K. Rowling revealed: "My publisher, who published Harry Potter, they said to me, we think this is a book that will appeal to boys and girls. And I said, oh, great. And they said, so could we use your initials?" The author went on to explain that the publishers were basically trying to "disguise" the fact that she was a woman simply because her book "might appeal" to all genders. But, as J.K. noted, that didn't last for long. "The book won an award and I got a big advance from America and I got a lot of publicity," she added. "So I was outed as a woman."
It was a clear blink to classical fantasy authors such as J. R. R. Tolkien and C. S. Lewis.
Apparently, those publishers never heard of Ursula K. Le Guin, Tanith Lee, Marion Zimmer Bradley...
Jeffrey doesn't deny those facts: doesn't invalidate victims painful statements and their struggle to finally be able to talk about the real horror they had to pass through.
Jeffrey is NOT mansplaining misogyny, as well. They (Jeffrey's pronouns are they/them) are NOT explaining misogyny (to women) or invalidating JK Rowling testimony as survivor of domestic abuse and sexual assault. Jeffrey is speaking about how JK Rowling uses the fact that she was an actual victim of misogyny to stifle criticism and to avoid being held accountable for her “hate speech”.
In the same way H. P. Lovecraft fans uses the fact he was one of the founding parents of horror literature to avoid an honest discussion about his rampant racism.
As well Marion Zimmer Bradley heirs use her life as lesbian feminist scholar and writer to hide from the large public the fact she was involved in the cover-up of her husband's, convicted child abuser Walter Breen, sexual abuse of children and purposefully avoided investigating, questioning, or notifying any authorities. Multiple accuses of child sexual abuse were raise by their daughter Moira Greyland, who in 2014 went public about physical and sexual abuses her mother and Breen inflicted on her and other girls. Breen ended up with a conviction because of it, though Bradley got away unscathed at the time and died in 1999 without facing justice for her crimes.
Helding authors and artists accountable for their actions is important, because it will show that they are not immune to law and justice. It also would open a discussion about their crimes and NOT talking about what they did is a big insult to their victims and to all victims of domestic abuse, sexual assault and hate crimes.

As Early as the 18th Century
If your partner agrees to move your relationship into a full-time deal, that's great! It's great for international dating as one of the most popular dating sites in the world. If you’re seeking cougars purely, then you might want to stick with one of the dedicated older women dating sites. Therefore, more people are exploring the possibilities of finding a social relationship on Tinder, Bumble, and Hinge, which are some of the best online dating sites in the world. Create a more intimate design by closing the spacing between letters. Please visit the Dating Matters website to learn more. The website was launched in 2013 and has since connected many married people to fun partners who spice up their lives. This is usually because people who are socially anxious tend to have lower self-esteem and make automatic negative assumptions about themselves. Relationships use joins, but they are automatic. As revealed in Moira Weigel's Labor of Love: The Invention of Dating, a remarkable history of the subject, here are 10 things you might not know about dating and courtship over the years.
They might outcompete you forever if they get it first and get all the traffic, conversions, and branding value compounded endlessly. To get started, simply register, post your profile and a few photos, then start browsing profiles and send a few flirty winks. It is more comfortable to start a conversation online with a stranger than in real life. יו סקס They also have access to search filters that free users do not, such as net worth, ethnicity, body type, and more. Signing up for the dating site is free. You can also sign up by connecting the site to your Facebook account. You can join this dating site for free, but if you want to access premium features, it's a little pricey. Premium members can send messages without uploading a profile photo. It will never show up on a billing statement and uses 256-bit encryption, Amazon web services, Norton by Symantec, and SSL Trust to keep all messages secure. Users will also be able to make any desired changes and edit their profile as per their unique requirements.
Unlike a decade ago, where online dating was associated with desperate individuals, this era has registered a significant increase in the number of online dating sites’ users. Once your profile is ready, you can browse users by any number of qualities. Additionally, elements may exist in different isotopes, with each isotope of an element differing in the number of neutrons in the nucleus. Communication can only take place once both members like each other, at which time either match may initiate a conversation. These boundaries may take more time, effort and compromise to establish. Besides, the increase in such apps has given people more options to explore better. Having chosen the questions that matter to you most, you’ll get more of the answers you need. You'll also have to answer seven questions, the answers to which will appear as part of your profile. When you meet someone in real life, you tend to know the person as a whole rather than basing your judgment on their looks, whereas, in the online dating world, it all starts with a profile picture or a set of images as a deciding factor.
Would you rather meet someone in person first? Once you find someone you're interested in, start a conversation by sending a wink or subscribe to start chatting over email or IM. All you have to do is use a valid email address and fill out information including gender, relationship status, and location. You simply provide your email address and the gender(s) of singles you're seeking. A big part of Silver Singles' method of success is a lengthy personality test of over 100 questions. Radiocarbon dating is the most common method by far, according to experts. Before dating came into the picture, "courtship" and "calling" were conducted with the express goal of marriage. The website name comes up on credit card bills, for example, which can cause trouble for someone who doesn't have an arrangement with their spouse, as it could end their primary relationship, their marriage. Cubes, SAP HANA (with OLAP attribute), JSON, and Google Analytics are limited to a single logical table in Tableau 2020.2. Stored procedures can only be used within a single logical table. They very well might have the largest community of single women online. If so, you might want to use the above platforms to cater to cougars.

when: July 30, 2022 where: Brooklyn, NYC who: Oliver Knight, Andrew Hunt, Wesley Kulina-Eyre
@moiraxknight
They had just bid the girls goodbye. Oliver had suggested Moira come along for the trip into the city so she could see some of their other friends. It felt especially useful given that he knew Ava was pregnant and Vivian already had a child. With Moira and Oliver preparing to have their own baby, it felt like it could be helpful to gain some insight from a mother and a mother-to-be. Oliver, in the meantime, could gain the fatherly perspective.
Oliver drove the car now, as they headed to Andrew’s house. “So, how fucking terrified are you, man? I mean, I remember back in the day you were so against having kids.”
“Yeah,” said Andrew. “Until recently, Ava and I still weren’t planning on having kids. You know, when we met, one of the first things we knew about each other was neither of us ever wanted kids. Neither of us was going to budge on that point.”
“And when he says recently, he means when he found out Ava was pregnant,” offered Wesley helpfully from the back.
“Yeah? So, how are you feeling? Excited? Scared?” asked Oliver. Andrew pointed to indicate he should make a turn. Oliver followed his lead.
“Is all of the above an option?” Andrew asked. “It’s fucking scary. And it’s fucking great. I mean, we’re actually both really excited about this baby. We’ve got a nursery we’re working on. We’ve painted it blue—and funnily enough it’s not even because he’s a boy. We figure we’re going to make him love the ocean as much as we do. We’ve got a whole ocean theme going on for his room. Little sea-themed mobile for his crib. Some plush sharks. Maybe if Moira wants, she can come in and paint some waves, make the blue walls look more like a soothing ocean. Add some marine life.”
“Oh, I bet she’d fucking love that,” said Oliver with a nod, making a mental note to let her know that she might have a new project, assuming Ava didn’t drop the hint for her first. “And you know, she looks great, by the way, your wife. You can barely tell she’s pregnant from the front, only in profile.” He mimed the stomach, as if it needed to be emphasized.
“He did the whole stomach motion,” Andrew said to Wesley.
Wesley chortled. “I would agree with the sentiment but seems kind of pointless of me to bother when I have no way of really knowing,” he mused. “Although, I am sure she does still look beautiful, all the same.”
“You can still agree,” said Oliver. “And you, man, how’s Danny? He’s looking big. I mean, real big. He’s almost two now, yeah?”
“In September,” confirmed Wesley. “He’s got a good vocabulary going. He’s walking, basically already running everywhere. Hard to keep up with when you can’t see him. Although from the sounds of it, Vivian’s also having a hard time keeping up with him. Poe might be the only one who can run after him fast enough.” He pet the dog that was beside him in the back seat, smiling all the while at his faithful companion.
“Man, I can’t wait to have my own kids. You know, we’re going to finally start trying soon,” said Oliver. “I mean, we’d start trying sooner if we could, but she’s not getting the IUD out until August, but that’s just next month and we’re both so amped up about it.”
“You didn’t always want kids, did you?” Andrew asked curiously. “I can’t remember if you ever mentioned.”
“Nah, I mean, I think for a long time I was kind of indifferent to the idea. I always had Ben’s girls—you remember my buddy, right? Math teacher, he’s actually a principal now—and I think it was just never something I thought about, you know? I bought gifts for the girls, I’d watch them when I could and that felt like enough. But man, then I met Moira and her nephew, Noah, and it just changed everything. I think, not having the right partner just really made the difference for me. I just felt like it was possible because I had actually met the right girl. I could see myself really being a father and then I realized how fucking badly I wanted kids.”
“I do think being with the right person is everything,” said Wesley with a wise nod. “It was a bit different with Viv and me, of course. Neither of us thought we could have kids. She had her health difficulties that she thought made it impossible for her to have children safely, and of course I was blind and didn’t think I could be an adequate father. Different reasons, but all the same, didn’t think it would happen and then it did, and we’re so happy it did. Danny’s the best thing that’s ever happened to us, outside being married, of course.”
“Yeah, but just the one for you, right? And I bet you’re also going to only go for the one, too, right?” Oliver added to Andrew, glancing over.
“Yeah, we’ve already talked it over and decided one is enough. No more surprises for us. When she gives birth, I’m going to get a vasectomy. It’s already been worked out. Outpatient procedure and everything. It’s easier than getting a colonoscopy done. We just don’t think we need more than one. I’ve already got my captain’s twins, and they’re… a lot. I think we’re good with just the one.”
“You thinking you might want more than the one?” Wesley asked.
“I dunno, we did kind of briefly talk, but pretty much decided we’ll have the one, see how that goes and see how we feel and maybe, who knows, we might have another or we might have the one. I don’t think I’ll be getting a vasectomy, either way. And I don’t know if she’ll go back on the birth control, but I think we’re just seeing how things go,” Oliver explained. “Just going with it, you know?”
“Colin’s said he and Callie definitely want at least one more,” said Wesley. “He comes from a big family, and he thinks their girl might be lonely without a sibling, so I know they’re definitely planning on more. Maybe not right away, but probably won’t wait too long either.”
“You know Colin and Callie feel like they would also have amped up kids,” said Andrew. “I can definitely only handle one. You know, even if he turns out to be really good, I’m happy I’ll be getting this vasectomy. Plus, it means she won’t have to be on birth control and it’ll all be good,” reasoned Andrew.
They pulled up to the firehouse converted house. Oliver parking on the street and getting out, helping Wesley navigate from the car to the front door, Andrew already unlocking it. They all stepped inside, and Oliver whistled. “Can’t believe you two found a house in the city,” said Oliver.
“Neither can we,” nodded Andrew. “Neither of us wanted to leave, either. I think we were both set on staying here. Even more so now with the baby coming. We couldn’t imagine raising him anywhere else, especially since I grew up here and both of our mothers are here and my siblings as well. Doesn’t make sense for us to relocate. City’s not bad, anyway.”
Oliver pointed to the security system that had been set up. Andrew nodded and Oliver got to work, as he began to take a look at it. He sped through the various settings, and finding what he needed as if he were familiar with this system his whole life. “It’s not bad at all,” he agreed.
“Worst thing about it is that my parents live here,” said Wesley with a nod. “Though, they’re in Manhattan which may as well be an entire city away as far as they’re concerned. They wouldn’t dare set foot in Brooklyn. Well, my mother has when she’s deigned to visit in the past. Though, she hasn’t stopped by in years. Not since I’ve been married and since Danny was born.”
“She know you have a kid?” asked Andrew
Wesley shrugged. “No idea. She might and just be biding her time until he’s thirteen to try and snatch him away into the world of business or she might not have a clue. May have given up. I figure as long as she hasn’t shown up, it’s much better that way. Try not to worry about it too much. And the day one or both of them dies, it’ll definitely be in the papers, so I’ll know one way or another once they’ve passed.”
“You think they’ve cut you out of their will by now?” grinned Andrew.
Wesley snorted. “Absolutely not. God forbid their money falls into the wrong hands, that would be worse than the betrayal I’ve laid upon them. Although, any money they leave behind might come with a bunch of strings and contingencies, so even if they don’t cut me out, they’ll make sure I’ll have to jump through hoops to get it. Probably nothing I’m willing to jump through.”
“Shit, and here I was my whole life thinking people who had families were lucky,” chortled Oliver as he then beckoned for Andrew to come over. “Alright, so now if you want to hook up your security system to your phone, we’ll need you to pull up the app.” Andrew went ahead and handed his phone to Oliver. It was easier to just let him do it all himself.  Oliver took it and got to work syncing up the security system with the phone. Meanwhile, Andrew mentioned he’d be right back before disappearing.
“You know, man, I was reading an article in The Atlantic the other day,” started Oliver, “and it was some heinous shit they were saying about how awkward it was for the VP to introduce herself with some very mild and vague descriptors. You happen to read that?”
“Oh, I did,” said Wesley. “And Vivian got a mouthful from me. I’ve already started a piece that I want to sell to the New York Times with a counter argument, especially given the writer in question wasn’t even disabled to begin with. Imagine being told an event about the disabled and for the disabled is doing accessibility wrong.” Wesley rolled his eyes, despite the fact that he wore his usual round sunglasses. It was an eyeroll that could be heard in his voice, regardless. “See, and the thing is when it comes to descriptors, it’s almost the opposite of what you think a seeing person wants to hear. I want to get the visuals set in my head, that’s why when something is described you want to do in the most neutral way possible. It doesn’t do to describe something with a point-of-view already and skew it for someone.”
Andrew came back, handing a beer to Wesley. Oliver handed Andrew his phone and traded it for the beer. “Cheers to our wives and children? Future children and furry ones included?”
“Cheers,” they all chorused.
Cheers to the future children, indeed, though Oliver. His own child just a few short weeks or months from being a reality, he couldn’t wait to join the ranks of his friends in being a parent, sharing in all the joys and heartaches that came with the role.

*flies in like magneto* can i get some exes to lovers™?
Do I have some exes to lovers fics for you? Yes I certainly do. It seems that the cherik fandom loves some exes to lovers cherik and I don't blame anyone because this ship really calls for all the angst. I hope you enjoy this list.
Exes to Lovers AU
Bound – FuryRed
Summary: Is there anything worse than someone else’s wedding? Well, perhaps your sister’s wedding- where the groom just has to invite his boss and that man just happens to be your ex-boyfriend; a person you had an extremely passionate and tumultuous relationship with that ended badly.
Charles hadn’t seen Erik for a year by the time Raven had told him about the wedding. He wasn’t looking forward to the occasion, particularly when Raven explained that they would be celebrating the event with a two-week extravaganza at a luxury hotel, meaning that Charles would be forced to spend a whole fortnight with the man who he’d given everything to; the man who had ultimately broken his heart…
Preheat to 350 (just for you remix) – ikeracity
Summary: Charles realizes he's in love with Erik. But there's one tiny little problem: he just broke up with Erik.
Thread Through a Needle – Black_Betty
Summary: Erik and Charles are broken up. Neither of them want to be.
Carry Me Anew (Frost & Darkholme Remix) – kianspo
Summary: While working as a model for Raven and Emma's clothing line, Erik experiences a strong attraction to his shoot partner. These things happen, except Erik has a boyfriend, who does not take this at all well.
Linger like a tattoo kiss – ikeracity
Summary: Six months apart gives Erik a lot of time to think about what he really wants.
(Erik's POV from Carry Me Anew (Frost & Darkholme Remix) by kianspo)
Symphysis – ikeracity
Summary: After Charles and Erik broke up four months ago, Charles convinced himself he'd never see Erik again. But life has a funny way of bringing people back together.
Call/Response – phalangine
Summary: Charles and Erik have a real conversation for the first time since breaking up. Charles is looking to avoid confrontation. Erik is not.
Regression Therapy – Fantine_Black
Summary: O, God, he’d made a terrible mistake. Whatever he’d expected to find here, Erik was still Erik, a man he’d moved continents to avoid. In retrospect, that felt like a rather good idea…
Four years after Charles walked away from Professor Lehnsherr, the two meet again for a drink.
Because things are better the second time round, aren't they?
Forever is Only a Drunk Dial Away – bettysofia
Summary: Charles is sad and drunk and stalking Erik's Instagram.
Shop Space – Caradee
Summary: Charles and Erik break up but still meet at their favorite coffee shop and manage a completely friendly relationship. The kids who work the coffee shop don't understand it, Charles' overprotective twin brother doesn't understand it, and even Charles doesn't understand it. Then, Erik shows up with a new date, someone who seems to be everything that Charles is not.
How will the Professor handle the surprising heartbreak that comes seeing Erik with someone else?
Mutant House at Dead Kings College – mabyn
Summary: When it comes to romance, Charles has terrible timing.
Can You Feel My Heart – FuryRed
Summary: Erik Lehnsherr hates Charles Xavier.
It’s as true as the words written on the wall in the bathroom at the university that Erik attends. Erik sees them one day- accompanied by a crude drawing of Erik and Charles glaring at each other- and recognises the truth of the sentence, and smiles.
He hates Charles.
Probably…
Believe (One More Time) – luninosity
Summary: For the prompt, Charles and Erik dated during college and had a bitter break-up right before graduation. It's five years later and they both meet again at their class's reunion for a weekend. Someone was even stupid enough to have them room with each other for the weekend...
Old Flame Burning – TurtleTotem
Summary: It's ridiculous for Charles to dread meeting the best man at his sister's wedding, just because he shares a name with Charles's ex. It's not as though it could possibly be the same Erik.
Don’t speak to the bartender – Wild_Imagination
Summary: Logan is a bartender, it's a gloomy evening, and in his bar there's someone with a broken heart. But this is not a movie.
Right?
Somewhere I’m Going & Have Never Been Before – Yahtzee
Summary: In late December 1984, Charles falls victim to the terrible pandemic sweeping across the globe. He's sick, probably dying, and utterly alone in an isolated cabin...until he's not.
Walking in a Winter Wonderland – TurtleTotem
Summary: Charles hasn't seen Erik since their devastating breakup ten years ago. He's certainly the last person he expects to run into at a Christmas lights display.

The Edge of What Doesn’t End – populuxe
Summary: When a mysterious object appears on the moon, Moira MacTaggert calls in two experts with very specific mutations to investigate.
Unfortunately for everyone involved, after years of breaking up and getting back together again, those two experts have finally broken up for good—and they’re the last people in the world who should be stuck together on a spaceship.
Exit Wounds – LemonadeGarden
Summary: It's been eight months since Charles and Erik had a fight that broke apart their marriage. When a mutant rights protest goes awry and Charles begins to get sick, past memories and present obstacles begin to blur the lines of their ideological differences.
Alternatively: Charles and Erik learn how to fall in love again in troubled times.
Note: Unfinished
11 Days, 8 Hours and 12 Minutes (or Bruises, Stupidity and Anger Management) – ximeria
Summary: For six months, Erik and Charles have been the disgustingly happy couple of the school. Considering their pigheadedness and general communication skills (or lack thereof), things are bound to go boom at some point.
Moon Song – ikeracity
Summary: Werewolf AU. When Charles is captured by hunters, Erik and his pack go after him. It turns out there might be some room for redemption left for both of them after all.
I will Never Stop Loving You – swoopswoop
Summary: Erik and Charles split up three years ago but Erik never really got over it and then one day when the man who walked out of his life three years ago is walking down the street towards him, Erik sees an opportunity to mend fences.
Please leave your message after the tone – ikeracity
Summary: Spending his evening getting shitfaced and pining over Erik seems like a totally productive use of Charles's time. Luckily, it turns out to be a better idea than it sounds.
When the Spell Breaks – kianspo
Summary: Erik, a high-profile lawyer with a successful career, meets a 21-year-old grad student in a bar, and within a few short months marries him. He and Charles are blissfully happy, until Erik's boss runs a background check on Charles and discovers he's been cheating on Erik. Charles denies everything, as there was no affair, but Erik doesn't believe him and throws him out. As Charles tries to figure out how to survive and stay at school that he can no longer afford and makes a lot of bad if not plain dangerous choices, Erik has to fight his own battle of discovering the truth and winning Charles back.
We have not touched the stars, nor are we forgiven (the things you love don’t last remix) – hllfire
Summary: Charles hands Erik the signed divorce papers, but Erik has changed his mind. Too late, it seems. All he can do is go forward with the divorce.
A year later, Charles comes back, and Erik can't help but wanting to see him. The only problem is things don't go like Erik had planned.
Suddenly There’ll Be a Blizzard (Let it Snow Remix) – kianspo
Summary: Charles was never at his best while jetlagged, but locking himself out in a snowstorm while barely dressed might be a new low. The last thing he expected was to be rescued by his high school nemesis, the man he hadn't seen in over ten years, who might have broken his heart for good once upon a time.
Write this number down (you can call it anytime) – pocky_slash
Summary: When Erik upsets his children, they have a habit of running away from home--and straight to Charles' school for cookies and consolation. Charles doesn't mind the visitors, but as they appear more and more frequently, he realizes that sooner or later, he and Erik are going to have to talk about what happened on the beach and what it means for their future and the future of Erik's children.
All we do is break up (and make up) – Stuckyl0v3r
Summary: "So instead of making the most out of this next months, because you don't know where either of you is going to end up, you decided to stay away from each other to get used to the feeling?" Hank summed up, stopping in front of the class. Charles nodded his head confidently and beamed at him, but somehow his smile didn't reach his eyes.
"Yes, something like that."
Well, that was the most idiotic plan Hank's ever heard.
Three wheels of cheese and a Great White – ximeria
Summary: Charles and Erik were friends with benefits in college.
They went their separate ways and 18 years later, they run into each other in New York.
The sex was never a problem back in college - and sex was all it had been. But now Erik is a divorced father and Charles has admitted to himself he needs more than just sex in a relationship. So in their usual round-about way they try to navigate becoming friends after so many years. The whole quest is aided by Raven, Edie, Wanda and Pietro (and a large number of shark jokes).

Overwatch Heroes Ranking & Honest Opinions part 2
Part 2 of my ranking and opinions of the playable characters of Overwatch. This is where things start getting spicier. Parts 1, 3 and 4.
Tumblr media
Jamison "Junkrat" Fawkes: 7-/10
Junkrat is a great comedic relief character with a surprisingly deep backstory. I personally am not a fan of his aesthetic, but his voice lines and interactions make up for it. Don't really care for him in game either. 7-/10, not my cup of tea but i can see why people like him.
Tumblr media
Lúcio Correia dos Santos: 6/10
Lúcio is a fun character.. but i don't care for him at all. He has a great attitude and his interactions are hilarious, but for some reason I can't bring myself to like him. like with Junkrat, I can see why other people like him. In game he is my least favorite support, but I might be biased bc many Lúcio's have gotten to my nerves and scratched my oh so fragile Widow-main ego. 6/10, maybe i like you in another universe.
Tumblr media
[REDACTED]: 3-/10
Oh cowboy, how I love to hate you. In my opinion, Mr. Dave Overwatch here is the most boring and over-rated character in the game and I am so tired of seeing him everywhere. Really not a fan of how favored of a character he is. Really not a fan of how he appears in almost every character's backstory and he seems to be getting even more lore. Really not a fan how he keeps getting skins meanwhile some characters haven't gotten skins in literal years. Really not a fan how he appears in every match I'm in. 3-/10, only redeeming part of him is the fan art.
Tumblr media
Mei Ling-Zhou: 8/10
Mei is such a good character. She has a really likeable personality, really sad backstory and really good skins. My one critique of her is how I would like to see more of how big of a huge genius she is. Winston has a lot of these science-y voice lines, so why can't she? Even though she is infamously known as "Satan" in the game, I really don't mind her! 8/10, very cute.
Tumblr media
Angela "Mercy" Ziegler: 5/10
There is the good kind of sassy, and then there is the bad. Mercy is the bad kind of sassy. She has so many unnecessarily rude interactions with the other heroes. The official profiles call her nice and caring, and I want to know how much she paid them to make her look good. She is such a mean and bland person, but at least she is pretty to look at! In the game she is very fun! I love her smooth movement abilities. 5/10, no one likes a preacher.
Tumblr media
Moira O'Deorain: 10/10
Moira is my favorite character lore and personality wise, there is so much depth to her. Even though she is portrayed as a villain, i truly think she is a good person (though very questionable). Really love her snarky and cold personality, but she can be nice as well. Her design is so cool and I truly don't think they will ever be able to top it. She better appear in OW2 and she better roast the fuck out of the Overwatch characters. In the game she is kinda lack luster but still p fun. 10/10, god is an androgynous lady with a resting bitch face.
Tumblr media
Orisa: 9/10
Orisa should be a main character in OW2. The storyline they have been teasing says so. She is a great heroine and I am very much looking forward to her journey to defeat Doomfist, though i expect it to be way more complex than that. She has a really good female omnic design, a centaur with so many refences to Efi's culture. She is really cute and I will never forget the first time I saw her sitting emote. 9/10, she IS the main character.
Tumblr media
Fareeha "Pharah" Amari: 8/10
She deserved so much better story wise and fandom treatment wise. She is so much more than Ana's daughter or a love interest in a ship. I honestly cannot believe they scrapped her animated short. Her storyline of wanting to join Overwatch should have been explored more. Hopefully we see her more in OW2. She is very fun to play but I wish her flight felt more smooth. 8/10, once she leaves her nest, it's all over for y'all.
Tumblr media
Gabriel "Reaper" Reyes: 10/10
Reaper is SO cool. His backstory, personality and hinted storyline are SO good. His appearance in the halloween comic is one of the highlight of the lore for me. Something about this cool and broody guy sewing costumes and being an extra fashionista is so fun! His dynamic with Widowmaker and Sombra are some of my favorites in the game. His backstory with Soldier is so spicy and totally not mlm. very looking forward to his storyline in OW2. Don't care for his playstyle though. 10/10 this man is perfect.
Tumblr media
Reinhardt Wilhelm: 9/10
Ah yes, the himbo. Another character with depth as much as the Mariana Trench. His backstory is really sad, and i have this feeling his storyline in OW2 is going to be sad as well. Don't you dare hurt the GILF, Blizzard! The character arc he went through in "Honor and Glory" put so many other character arcs to shame. His design is very fun though a bit generic. I could never complain about having a Rein in my team.. unless they charge to the enemy team all alone. 9/10, let him show off his muscles.

Lair review for Kesten
@heckling-hydrena
Thank you for the food you get 20 dragons reviewed!
Tumblr media
I read your profile bio first so without even looking at your lair I made a beeline for this dragon because HOLLYLEAF! It’s been a long time since I’ve read warrior cats, but with it being my first fandom it holds a special place in my heart. Hollyleaf was my all time favorite (With Jayfeather being a close second). She did not deserve all the pain she suffered. But your dragon does her justice. She looks great and a gaoler was an excellent choice for her! i also appreciate the green bean toes.
Tumblr media
Thomas REAL!!!! Ok I promise I’ll get to your actual lore dragons now
Tumblr media
“Clan founder who abandoned her clan” Is this your custom progen? Progen or not she’s a very pretty genone! It’s a shame her tert is basic, There’s a lot you can do with purple! I think okapi would look really neat on her. But also basic can be good too!
Tumblr media
And I’m going to guess that this is you random progen? If so his colors are pretty nice! Even coral (my least favorite FR color) looks good on him. Probably because it’s mostly covered by his apparel, but what little that shows is balanced out by his rust secondary. And I love the layering you’ve done with his apparel. The mix and match of the different apparel sets looks very cohesive on him!
Tumblr media
Omen is another really well dressed dragon! He has a lot of apparel on, but he doesn’t look cluttered at all. He has a nice Western vibe to him.
Tumblr media
For being a Wind dragon Tempest sure does have the Shadow dragon vibe. She would blend right in with the glow shrooms. I just love the blend of bright blue and darker purple.
Tumblr media
Cicada! I love Cicada for her name alone. She’s covered head to toe in apparel, but that’s ok because the apparel you gave her is perfect. I like how the plague doctor mask resembles the sparrow skull on her shoulder, and then again the vulture skull of the Hazebeacon.
Tumblr media
“A jeweler drowning in anger and wine” Mood. Joking, joking. Vendetta is a very lovely dragon. I love how python and morph brings out blues in him. He really looks like a living flame. The familiar matching with the phoenix familair is on point too.
Tumblr media
I want to go to the Memento library. I’d probably die reading something I shouldn’t, but ii would be worth it. Now onto Shrike, why is there a wraith in the library? Is that allowed? Are they the reason you shouldn’t read certain books there? Well anyway they’re a neat looking dragon. I like how their accent gives them horns.
Tumblr media
Cecilia 100% succeeds at looking like a rich widow. I love her. She’s so elegant. What’s the story behind her being widowed though? Did she kill her partner?
Tumblr media
Estelle is elegant AND vibrant. She gives off royalty vibes. The starsilk was a perfect choice for her, and the accent literal makes her glow.
Tumblr media
Rye  gives me Halloween vibes. I think it’s mostly the fire swirl eyes. The accent too. They’re a very pretty, though slightly spooky lad.
Tumblr media
I like the general aesthetic of your tunnel tab. Moira has to be my favorite dragon of yours in that tab. I really like the cobwebs layered underneath the wingplates. It gives her a look of some ware and tear. She’s ready for a fight, and she will win. I also love that her spider’s name is Charlotte.
Tumblr media
Catfish’s eyes are the main reason I chose to review them. They’re just so spooky, I know it’s from the mysterious cowl that you layered under the garb, but I didn’t realize it at first. It’s a clever way of layering to give your dragon a really unique look!
Tumblr media
Did somebody say ghost? hello yes any type of undead dragon automatically holds my attention. I like how the skull from Sandstone’s accent is half hidden by his hat. It makes him look very mysterious and spooky!
Tumblr media
Egg! Ok I’ll admit what drew me to this dragon was primarily the name. The creature of the deep part is what really hooked me to this dragon. I’m just a sucker for any sort of ‘monster’ or spooky dragon if you havn’t caught on yet. As for what I think of the dragon itself, I like how well the skulking wings blend in, as well as its fins!
Tumblr media
Oracle dragons are cool too! Is Eurydice hiding her eyes because her element is Plague and not Water? She’d be a nice fit for a water dragon. Everything else about her is very water-y. I love the mix of the brighter blues such as the lanterns and will o wisp with her darker abyss coloration.
Tumblr media
As a retired adventurer Dodola must have a lot of interesting stories! I can imagine hatchlings gathering around her as she weaves and tells tales of her adventures. She has a very serene look about her. As a weaver, her being covered in silk fits.
Tumblr media
I love deity dragons! Being the deity of the breeze and harvest sounds pretty cool. But maybe that’s just because i love the fall season. He definitely has a unique look to him. I don’t often see non Christmas themed dragons with red and green, and I rarely see the warrior face masks being used. I like the balance of the red and greens. I just really like the usage of apparel sets not usually used together!
Tumblr media
Svirep: A see a Shade creature and I must look. Everything about them is just so GOOD. First of all wine/wine/pink is a great color combo. Second ghost is the best tert. Third the combination of Arcane fest items, the wolf pelt AND the grasp? A perfect combination of eldritch Arcane vibes. I’m digging it.

One of the most powerful gangs of the time is the Peaky Blinders, run by returning war hero Thomas Shelby and his family. But Thomas has bigger ambitions than just running the streets. When a crate of guns goes missing, he recognizes an opportunity to advance in the world because crime may pay but legitimate business pays better. Trying to rid Britain of its crime is Inspector Chester Campbell, who arrives from Belfast to try to achieve that goal.
• Schitts Creek (6 Seasons)

With only one remaining asset, a small town called Schitt's Creek, which the Roses bought years earlier as a joke, this once-wealthy couple must give up life as they know it. With their two spoiled children in tow and their pampered lives behind them, the Rose family is forced to face their newfound poverty head-on and come together as a family to survive.
• Mindhunter (2 Seasons)
Catching a criminal often requires the authorities to get inside the villain's mind to figure out how he thinks. That's the job of FBI agents Holden Ford and Bill Tench. • Maniac (Limited Series)
Annie Landsberg and Owen Milgrim are two strangers who are drawn to the late stages of a mysterious pharmaceutical trial. Each has a different reason for participating in the experiment -- she is disaffected and aimless, fixated on broken relationships with her mother and sister, while he has struggled throughout his life with a disputed diagnosis of schizophrenia. The radical treatment, using pills that the inventor claims can repair anything about the mind, draws Annie, Owen and 10 other subjects into a three-day drug trial that they're told will permanently solve all of their problems, with no complications or side effects. Unfortunately, things don't go as planned.
• The Witcher (2 Seasons)
The witcher Geralt, a mutated monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts.

• I Am Not Okay With This (1 Season)

Over the course of the eight-episode season, an aspiring sophomore documentarian investigates the controversial and potentially unjust expulsion of troubled senior (and known dick-drawer) Dylan Maxwell. Not unlike its now iconic true-crime predecessors, the addictive American Vandal will leave one question on everyone's minds until the very end: Who drew the dicks?

2020
So, you left your job in the middle of a pandemic and started a whole new chapter? Yep, I did. But, you still wrote some stories you’re really proud of before moving on? Yep, I did. While this year has been pretty abysmal in many aspects, I want to celebrate some of the not horrible parts.
I covered the end of my beloved Schitt’s Creek with a profile on Annie Murphy, said farewell to Moira Rose with Catherine O’Hara (and talked all about her iconic wedding look), talked about the show’s legacy of love with Annie Murphy and Dan Levy and picked Dan Levy’s brain about the big finale.
This year also saw the end of The Good Place, one of TV’s smartest and funniest shows. I watched the finale in a conference room (hid my tears) and then talked to Kristen Bell, Ted Danson, Manny Jacinto, D’Arcy Carden, William Jackson Harper and Jameela Jamil.
Tumblr media
Talking to Eve Plumb and Maureen McCormick in a joint interview was something else. I grew up watching endless reruns of The Brady Bunch and was so nervous about this interview for their new HGTV project.
Another show I have fond memories of from childhood: The Secret World of Alex Mack. This was the second time I interviewed Larisa Oleynik (this time for her new Netflix series) and it was just as much of a blast as the first interview many years ago.
Feel Good was one of the most pleasant surprises of TV released early in the pandemic, so I talked to creator and star Mae Martin about it.
Greg Daniels returned to TV with two streaming shows — during a pandemic. He’s also the man partially responsible for one of my favorite shows, King of the Hill, so naturally I asked him about reviving that and a little show called The Office.
In April, I introduced my niece to Xena: Warrior Princess over Zoom. She then got my chakram from childhood and dove into the world of Xena and Gabrielle. This year was also the 25th anniversary of the series premiere and I took part in a podcast all about the show and its enduring fandom.
Had the pleasure of chatting with queen Regina King about one of the finest shows I’ve ever seen, Watchmen, in conjunction with the boxed set release.
I had my first psychic reading (over Zoom) and it was an experience. He nailed some things, but I’m a skeptic and think it was pure luck and just general assumptions. More details about that experience are here.
The last public event I went to was the first preview of Company on Broadway. Patti LuPone, as expected, blew me away. Her performance in Hollywood, Ryan Murphy’s Netflix miniseries, was equally great. Talked to her about that here and Ryan Murphy about the series and the big plans for Macaulay Culkin on American Horror Story.
Right before everything changed and shut down, I returned to Law & Order: SVU to reprise my role of “Reporter No. 2″ from the season premiere. The episode wasn’t intended to be the season finale, but because of the pandemic it was. Leaving E! was a tough choice, mostly because of the relationships I’ve cultivated while covering SVU.
Tumblr media
Early in the pandemic, the creators of Getting On gave their pitch on how the show (one of my all-time favorites) would have handled coronavirus.
One of the last, and most treasured interviews I did at E!: Sara Bareilles. We Zoomed, I told her how often I sing Waitress after a few drinks, it was lovely.
And at HBO, I got my feet wet talking to Luca Guadagnino about We Are Who We Are.

GoD I love the way you write everyone it is absolutely great! Also question though, do you picture Character's appearances much different than canon or Nah? And those that you DO picture different would you happen to have any visual of them? :o
thank you!!!
i tend to picture them in my art style (check the /my art tag for a couple of examples) for the most part!
rapunzel obviously has short blonde hair. i imagine her having more of an oval face than the disney heart shape? so a little longer, a softer/more rounded chin. the way @spooky-activity draws her is really really close in terms of her facial proportions! and then in my mind she’s petite but not willowy—she’s very muscular as, yanno, she would have to be to haul gothel into a tower with her hair.
cassandra is probably the most different - a longer face, heavy-lidded eyes, defined cheekbones, very angular in general, thick eyebrows, slightly curlier hair rather than loose waves. larger, more aquiline nose with a bit of a bump? so not like a smooth hook, it’s a little knobby in profile. squarer face with a strong jaw. also stockier in build than rapunzel, so she has more muscle mass and definition.
moira - i picture her being very sharp. not quite as angular and definitely less square than cass. close to canon but a little bit narrower and with eyes that are proportional to her face vkcncnfh. same tattoos but they haven’t been mentioned in benighted because it’s wintertime and everybody’s wearing long sleeves lol
everyone else is pretty close to canon in my head except with the different art style. i think varian’s streak is less pronounced and more a grayish color (it’s a mallen streak!). arianna has rapunzel’s oval face shape but she’s aged into it very gracefully vs rapunzel who i think still very much has a Baby Face, and willow is a bit rangier than either of them i think 🤔
i don’t really have any visual references for them, besides the drawings of cass in my art tag, ksjfkdhs sorry. but here’s a sketch of sirin from a little while ago

Gerec’s 2019 Favorite Fics
In no particular order, here are my personal favorite fics from this past year. Hope everyone has a wonderful New Year’s!!!
terrible with the brightness of gold by brawlingdiscontent
The war is lost.
With the futures of his people and his children at stake, former Crown consort Charles of Normandy awaits the arrival of England's new master, the fearsome Viking warrior, Erik Lehnsherr. (Inspired by 11th century historical events)
“For who could look upon the lions of the foe, terrible with the brightness of gold, who upon the men of metal, menacing with golden face, … who upon the bulls on the ships threatening death, their horns shining with gold, without feeling any fear for the king of such a force?” - Encomium Emmae Reginae
Quiet Like a Fire by kianspo
Charles has been in love with his best friend for years without realizing it. When he finally figures it out, Erik is married to a wonderful woman and has an adorable daughter, who thinks the world of Charles. Erik has the perfect life that Charles helped him build, so there is only one thing for it - get over his feelings. So what if his methods are unhealthy or if Erik has an opinion on the matter? Charles is determined to do the right thing.
rue de la paix by Ireliss
Post Dark Phoenix. Charles, Erik, and the winding road towards peace.
natural law by Ireliss
Sometimes, he has the unnerving sensation of being watched, but when he dips into the minds around him nothing is out of place. Too many late nights, Charles decides, thoughts circling back to his impending thesis defense.
It will be, he hopes, a first step in the future acceptance of his and Raven's kind.
AU where En Sabah Nur wakes before the events of XMFC. Charles plans for the future. So does En Sabah Nur.
Under the Same Roof by sebastian2017
Wanda and Pietro do /not/ want their father marrying Charles Xavier and changing up all their lives. No chance at all. Luckily, David doesn't want his father getting married, either. Perhaps an alliance will benefit them all.
preheat to 350 (just for you remix) by ikeracity
Charles realizes he's in love with Erik. But there's one tiny little problem: he just broke up with Erik.
right out of my mouth by dedkake
Charles’ back is a map of every single person he’s ever loved, even if only for one night.
Never a Place by kianspo
It takes some getting used to. Charles hasn’t seen Erik cheerful, actually cheerful without a homicidal intent of some sort in a very long time—perhaps never. Or. Charles takes Erik up on his offer while trying to process everything. Erik is remarkably patient until he isn't.
After the End of the World (One Bad Day) by kianspo
Set during and immediately after the events of X-Men: Dark Phoenix. Everyone deals with the aftermath of Jean's transformation and everything that comes with it in their own way. Could there be found a measure of peace and happiness after everything they've lost?
Space Drift by lachatblanche
The former-asteroid-now-space-station Graymalkin is home to its founder, Charles Xavier, his sister Raven, his chief-of-security Moira MacTaggart, and a host of individuals who may or may not be on the wrong side of the law.
It also, on occasion, plays host to Charles's space-wandering lovers, who also may or may not be on the wrong side of the law.
Three wheels of cheese and a Great White by ximeria
Charles and Erik were friends with benefits in college.
Best Ex Ever by 1sttimefeeling
Charles wakes up drunk on the pavement of a gas station, phone dead. He finds a payphone but can only remember one number. Erik Lehnsherr's.
The problem? They broke up two years ago.
When the Spell Breaks by kianspo
Erik, a high-profile lawyer with a successful career, meets a 21-year-old grad student in a bar, and within a few short months marries him.
And Hell Was Following With Him by Mnemo_ink
1962 On the eve of the battle of Cuba, Charles is left alone in the kitchen, thinking about his sister's angry words. But Apocalypse is awake and is coming for him.
The Way I See You by kianspo
Charles is an FBI agent working white collar crimes, specializing in art theft. Erik is a master forger. It's all well and good, except no one knows that Charles and Erik used to be in love once upon a time. Years later, they meet again.
Sword and Sorcerer by TurtleTotem
Logan hates working with sorcerers, but Charles is offering enough gold to make him leave his comfort zone. He might be offering something else, too, if Logan is interested.
Each Day Starts White by kianspo
Somewhere in the middle of the road trip to recruit more mutants, Charles and Erik get caught up in a storm. That's how it begins, but it's not how it ends. It takes them about thirty years to discover that Genoshan sunrises are beautiful.
what a way to make a livin' by kaydeefalls
According to his profile in Forbes Magazine, Erik Lehnsherr is a "visionary polymath engineer with strong strategic goals and reputation for being simultaneously difficult to work with and highly respected by his employees; however, potential investors are often put off by his extremist views on mutant rights, which gave MagneTech a rocky opening on the markets after going public in 2015."
According to Charles's sister, after listening to him rant about his boss Erik for twenty solid minutes: "Oh, my god, you want to bone him so bad."
(Erik is a high-powered CEO. Charles is his long-suffering PA. Tony Stark is shaking up their industry. It all goes about as well as you might expect.)
all your love is sunlight by ikeracity
Over twenty years ago, the world ended an inferno. From the ashes of what was once a modern world, survivors gathered what remained and slowly knit civilization back together. The Keep is one of the largest new cities in the north, ruled by the iron fist of a mutant named Apocalypse. He keeps an inner circle of favored mutants around him, a mixture of some of the most powerful mutants to walk the earth. But when his most prized treasure, Charles Xavier, escapes from the Keep, he sends wanderer and hunter Erik Lehnsherr after him.
An easy task, Erik figures. But soon enough, he discovers that Charles is much more of a handful than he'd bargained for. Their tumultuous meeting sets into motion a chain of events that will lead them deep into unfamiliar territory--in both the world and in matters of the heart.
Before You Attempt Me (Fair Warning) by kianspo
Charles helps Raven get ready for the prom. Surprisingly, that part goes well. The prom itself not so much. Erik cooks a lot of unhealthy comfort foods and is incredibly patient. Charles mostly frets about everything, until Erik does something neither he, nor Raven see coming.

Overwatch Fic Exchange
So I participated in @clareguilty‘s Overwatch fic exchange and this is the first time in probably 10 years I’ve posted anything online. I got @unseaworthy, hope you like it love!
Mostly fluff, Pre Explosion, Gabriel Reyes, Gender Neutral/Female reader, ~2000 words
You stretch, happy to finally be done with mission assignments for the week. You had pulled overtime for the last month to get ahead of schedule, and if everything during the missions went well, you would enjoy a quiet Friday Saturday and Sunday. You had packed your laptop and cellphone into your bag and had nearly signed off when a ping alerted you to a manual override for a mission. In years past this had been rare, the commander trusting the handlers- and the computers- to make sound decisions. But recently there’d be a lot more override requests, not from the agents but the commander himself.
Well, you decide sitting back down at your desk, no use in putting off what can be done now. It was a simple escort mission, one that you’d assigned Agent Thomas and Agent Elias to; two  compatible, quiet agents with compatible skills. Instead, Elias had been replaced with Nunez, a weapons specialist with a predisposition for explosives. What was the commander thinking?
Movement catches your attention and you flick your attention up; speak of the devil and he shall appear. “Sir are you sure about this?”
“Sure about what?” Commander Reyes came around your desk to see the screen better. You noticed he was dressed more casually than usual, he still wore his dark pants and boots, but he was wearing a regular t-shirt instead of his hoodie or armor. You can see the hint of a tattoo on one of his ridiculously toned muscles-
With a heaving effort you pull your attention from his arms to rove over the holoscreen again, pretending you’d been invested in the information the whole time. As he came around the desk your attention drifted to the side-by-side statistical profiles of the two agents again. The commander placed one hand on the back of your seat, and the other reached past you to rest on your desk, giving you a good dosage of the cologne he wore in the office. It was a long standing debate among the other Blackwatch handlers what exactly he wore- Lieutenant Stroud insisted it was an old school Christain Dior- “a refined scent for a refined and mysterious man”-, but Agent Jones insisted that it was something more modern like-.
“Y/N,” you hear the commander call your name, pulling you from your thoughts on the old office gossip back to reality.
“Yes sir, um, I mean, Gabriel.” Saying his name was enough to make your heart stop he was so intimidating, but he insisted on it when it was just the two of you. Taking a breath, you switch back into work mode with the confidence of a woman who doesn’t have a school girl crush on their boss. “Thomas and Nunez don’t have any complementary stats at all. I mean lately they’ve had at least some overlap,” you point a finger at the mission requirements and trace it along the screen to show, “but this one really takes the cake. Thomas was already a long shot for the mission being an espionage specialist but Nunez?” You shake your head and drop the pointing hand to lean your chin on it, “he’s a pyromaniac who can be seen with explosives strapped to his back on an escort mission with a man he hates on his way to the near Antarctic tundra.”
“It’s fine,” he moves the hand on the desk to your mouse and clicks the confirm button, and a window pops up asking for your password. “Call it commander intuition, but I’ve got them paired for a reason. Sometimes a scientist escort requires cunning wit, quiet observation, and explosives.” The disbelief must have been plain on your face because the commander laughs and stands up straight. “Trust me, I know exactly what I’m doing.”
And so for the next two days you contemplated what exactly Reyes thought he was doing. You thought about it as you saw Nunez and Thomas off, you thought about it when Stroud and Jones bid you a Merry Christmas and a Happy Hanukkah respectively and headed to the states for the rest of the week. You thought about it when you overheard agents talking about how contact with Agent Nunez and Agent Thomas had been lost in the middle of an unseasonable storm. The scientists had been fine and were maintaining shortwave radio communication with the agents, instructing them on the locations of various survival items, including a single blanket that they had to share. You even thought about it as you mechanically went through the checkup portion of your yearly physical with Doctor O’Deorain, another agent with the maddening request of only using first names for those they’d become fond of.
You supposed that the commander actually could be onto something, humans made mistakes and computer programs were as fallible as the programmers who designed them. As commander he had to be observant of not just what the system told you, but  collect other information and be able to pair or group agents accordingly.
“You seem fit as a fiddle Y/N, it is a shame you don’t go out into the field more often. You would be perfect for the work.”
“Hm.” You answer non committedly.
“Speaking of field work, congratulations are in order for George and June, they’ve just arrived safely from their chilling ordeal.”
Your mind belatedly connects the names to Thomas and Nunez and you look up at her. The doctor had her perpetual grin aimed at a tablet, either at your charts or at the list of agents landing on base you couldn’t tell. “Gabriel mentioned something about a celebration but I don’t think I’ll be attending.” She pulls her face into pinched disapproval.
“I uh, think I’ll pass too. I really just want to take a break.”
You move to stand but she puts a hand to your shoulder, “I do have just one more question for you though, if you don’t mind my asking.”
You shrug, “sure.”
“What exactly is our commander up to?” She doesn’t allow you a response past your confused expression. “He’s spent an awful lot of time with you in the office, and there haven’t been any truly dangerous missions for the entire month. I understand that you have been handling the bulk of agent assignment as well, and you have been awfully quiet this afternoon. Dirty conscious got your tongue?”
“I..” So you weren’t the only one to notice how weird the commander had been. You shrug again, “I have no idea, sorry Moira.”
“You don’t think that it’s odd, that previously openly hostile coworkers have become incredibly..” She lets the word trail off, searching for the right word. “Chummy.”
You hadn’t thought about it, but now that she’d pointed it out it was weird. Every pairing or group that you’d sent out for the last month had come back not only in higher spirits, but as great friends. Maybe it was a piece of the puzzle, but you shook your head no at her.
Moira pulled her hand away slowly, the serious expression relaxed into her perpetual smile again. “I only thought he’d have filled you in, my apologies for holding you.”
Understanding the words as a dismissal you flash her a nervous smile of your own and beat a hasty exit from the infermary toward the mess hall The doctor made a good point though, things were much quieter in the halls and common areas. You would have to think hard about how all of that fit into Reyes’s master plan, but after you got a bit of dinner in you.
You could maybe get in a bit of observation time if you-.
Your thoughts stop short as your round the corner into the Blackwatch mess. “Oh my god.”
The words fall slowly from your lips. It looked like Christmas had thrown up, garland lined the walls in a tasteful Blackwatch symbol with colorful lights brightening the greenery. The room lights had been dimmed so that the multitude of blinking snowflakes hanging from the ceiling could be seen well. Upon closer inspection you can see that whoever had done the puking had made sure to include other holidays too. Tiny plastic menorahs and kinara were in the middle of tables surrounded by red LED candles, and the tablecloths had various holiday characters. And at the culmination of it all, in the center of the room, a huge tree was being decorated by agents who hadn’t gone home for the holidays to the tune of Mirah Carrey
“So,” McCree said on your left, “what’d ya think?”
“I think Reyes is gonna have a heart attack.”
“Naw, it was his idea after all.” He claps you on your back as he walks past you and calls over his shoulder, “you comin or what?”
In all your fuss of maintaining a black operations organization over the years, you’d barely acknowledged the holiday other than making a few calls home and mumbled greetings in the office. Overwatch, of course, threw a company wide party every year that was about as bland as they came, and nearly every Blackwatch agent turned down the invitation every year. But this was the first time they’d thought to throw their own.
You sigh and follow after McCree. “I guess I’ll see what you’ve done to the tree.”
For the first time in years you actually enjoyed yourself on Christmas eve. You put up a few decorations with some agents and even saw Thomas and Nunez hanging off of each other. The two seemed to laugh at the whole situation when you congratulated them on a job well done.
“Make lemon cakes out of lemons,” Nunez shrugs and pecks Thomas’s cheek with a kiss. And then suddenly it clicks. Your gaze slides over all of the new couples floating around the room, there hadn’t been any fights all week and now you had confirmation.
The missions, the overrides, it was all to set them up!
You turn away to go look for Commander Reyes and bump into a solid wall of ugly blue and red sweater.
“Oh, sorry Y/N I was just-.”
You put a finger to his chest hard, “Gabriel Reyes I cannot believe,” you glance around you but every seemed reasonably invested in the festivities to not notice you, but you still drop your voice, “you were using assignments to play matchmaker.”
The commander grins at you and gently pushes a small box that matched his sweater at your chest. “Merry Christmas.”
You hiss under you breath, “Reyes I’m serious.” You push the box back into his hands, but a few of the other agents were starting to notice your confrontation. “Commere.” Taking his arm you pull him to a table that lined the wall. You sat down pulling him down with you and he pushes the box into your hands again.
“I feel like you’re not feeling the Christmas spirit.”
“Reyes-.”
“Gabriel.” He insists.
You breathe out a heavy sigh, “Gabriel what the hell?”
“Well we couldn’t really throw a party with everyone trying to kill each other,” he shrugs as if that was enough explanation in of itself.
“This is so against all kinds of protocols.”
He makes a flippant motion with his hand, “I’ve never been one for following rules. I’m sorry for the secrecy but you’ve got to admit the quiet’s been nice.”
You glance behind you, at the agents, a lot of who you would consider friends, dancing drunkenly to Christmas In Holis and at the twinkling lights and absolute treasure trove of food being brought out. You guessed this was okay, and he was right, the lack of reports being filed had made your work much easier.
“Promise to include me in your nefarious schemes next time Gabriel?” His grin was infectious and you found yourself already looking back on this as a funny situation.
“So your gift?”
“Oh yeah.” You quickly work to slip the ribbon securing the lid off of the box.
You stare down bemusedly at the mistletoe. “Isn’t this stuff supposed to be above us for a kiss Gabriel?”
He smirks, “we make our own rules here Y/N.” And he leans in for a kiss.

if youve ever wanted to think about what almost every major RWBY character would main in professional overwatch, then today is your lucky day! brought to you by hiatus, return of owl, and 3am delirium
RUBY - Star DPS.  Extremely flashy, always on the highlight reel.  Will play whatever is needed to pound the enemies into dirt, but also the type to say "fuck it ok guys trust me im gonna pop off" and swap to her signature widow/tracer to Pop Off.  Works unfailingly.  Team captain and emotional core.  Prefers mobile heroes and an unpredictable playstyle.
WhiteSnow - Flex Support/Flex DPS.  Put her on any sniper (including and especially Ana) and watch all hell rain down.  Methodical playstyle, favors high-utility heroes.  Aside from snipers, can often be found on Baptiste/Mei/Symmetra.  Enables teammates to make big plays, but often sacrifices her own presence in the killfeed for the benefit of the team as a whole.  Loves to maker opponents' lives a living hell with CC.  Line em up, knock em down.
Belladonna - Offtank.  Extremely attentive to her backline, constantly running interference and peeling for allies.  Impossible to catch off-guard.  Delights in thwarting the enemy team's plans and preventing them from making the plays they want to.  Excellent map awareness and always the one to touch point to preserve overtime.  Shotcaller.  Struggled with committing to risky/aggressive plays, but being on a reliable team has made her more comfortable performing her role and trusting her teammates to have her back.  Prefers mobile heroes but will adapt to any situation to work in perfect tandem with...
YangXiaoLong - Main Tank.  Could have been a DPS main but early on committed to tank role to enable her duo parter (and little sister) to pop off (and have shorter queue times).  Developed a real knack for controlling space and being a brick goddamn wall between her squishies and the enemy team.  Extremely aggressive playstyle, but has cooled down in recent years to be more of a team player.  Still loves to thrash about when given the opportunity.  Known for bold plays and phatty shatties.
Arc - Main Support.  Tried for years to be a DPS hotshot but was determinedly mediocre and got hard stuck in plat.  Persuaded by Pyrrha to pocket her for a few games, and discovered the depth and fulfillment of playing support to a well-coordinated team.  Nurtured his aptitude for assisting from the backline and quickly rose through the ranks.  Will play whatever is meta but will always be a Mercy main at heart.  Played Brig during GOATS.  Shotcaller.
Valkyrie - Doomfist.
Nikos - Main Tank.  Extremely methodical player, reknowned for big brain cerebral plays and unflappability.  Can be slow to push advantages, but never makes mistakes.  Loves the mind games in a Rein v Rein matchup, and unfailingly blocks the enemy shatter (delights in cucking the enemy Rein).  Will play Orisa For The Good Of The Team but takes no joy in it.  Terrifying on defense; takes a strong position and allows time pressure to force enemies into missteps.  When you make a mistake, she will be there.  Strategic backbone of the team.
RenLie - Flex Support.  Bloodthirsty support.  Likes the balance of damage potential and support capacity in Zenyatta, but puts forth strong showings on Moira and Ana as well.  First priority is of course keeping his team alive, but flankers trying to dive him in the back line tend to get sent home in tears.  Big Jjonak energies. :uwuknife: Can be susceptible to tunnel vision/desperation, and occasionally needs teammates to re-ground him.  Always nanos Nora.
PPolen - Offtank.  D.Va one-trick.  Absolutely notorious for eating ults; absolutely infuriating to play hitscan into.  Flawless mechanical skill.  Occasionally struggles with communication, but honestly so on-the-ball that it doesn't usually come back to bite her.  Always has gold objective time.
Qrow - True flex.  Exclusively solo-queues on ladder, just plays the leaderboards.  Played just about every role at some point (except main tank, fuck that), but currently on a flex support kick.  Holds world records for gravs/blizzards/immortality feels clipping through the geometry and falling out of the map.  The sort of Ana who will singlehandedly take out both enemy DPS when beset by flankers only to immediately die to an errant Moira orb.  Gamers can we get an F in chat.  Accustomed to playing on 200+ ping and is deeply unsettled when he moves somewhere with good internet and has to re-learn all his timings.
RWBY+JNPR+P All form a single 9-man roster.  Sub out roles with redundant players for map set strategies and for flexible plays.  Probably called the Beacon Huntsmen or something generic like that, who cares
Winter - Main Tank and Offtank.  Excellent mechanical skill.  Unparalleled when allowed to execute her set strategy, but struggles with adaptability.  Extremely self-sacrificial, and knows exactly how to leverage her health pool to buy time and/or space for her allies to make the plays they need to.  Will unflinchingly act upon callouts, good or bad, because the worst outcome is a split decision.  Especially fond of a quick reset.
Whitley - Doesn't play Overwatch, but holds several championship trophies in international Pokemon tournaments.  Minecraft youtuber.
Adam - Widow one-trick.  Highly overrated, inexplicably popular streamer.  Mechanically talented but poison in a team environment.  Picked up and quickly dropped from several professional teams.  Teabags.  Looks impressive on stream but crumbles against opponents with any semblance of coordination.  Eventually blacklisted from professional environments after one too many scandals in his personal life.
Ozpin -Franchise owner.  Has never actually touched Overwatch, but used to be a respected Starcraft player back in the day.  Took on a coaching role for a time, but now largely manages from afar.  Has a sparse and cryptic social media presence.  Makes business decisions largely at random, unbeknownst to all his subordinates.
Salem - Hates videogames. Will unplug the router if you piss her off.
Ace Ops - High profile roster hand-picked for perfectly complementary hero pools.  Hyped to fuck in the preseason.  Unparalleled individual play but poor communication, incompatible playstyles, and truly abysmal coaching staff keep them from being a top-tier team.  Widely considered a disappointment considering the talent and money backing them.
Harriet - DPS.  Exclusively plays flankers and extremely mobile DPS.  Tries to solo-carry; in her defense, it often works.  Unironically brags/complains about having gold medals.  Quick to tilt but often uses the negative energy to pop off even harder.  Overtime clutch god.
Marrow - Flex DPS.  Cautious player, often hesitant to commit to risky strats.  Flawless positioning, both personally and for thrown abilities.  Talent for projectile DPS; probably contributed not-insignificantly to scatter arrow being removed from the game.  Prefers to understand the enemy's strategy before acting.  Shotcaller.  Nobody listens.
Elm - Main Tanks (Except Reinhardt), Zarya.  Aggressive tank player, frequently found with gold damage.  Generally good natured but vulnerable to tilt if on a losing streak.  Highly momentum-based.  Makes tutorial videos on strategy and positioning for her youtube channel.  Wants to see the competitive scene develop and flourish, but sensitive to feeling threatened by new talent.  Helps them anyway.
Vine - Flex Tanks (except Zarya), Reinhardt.  Unflappable, regardless of quality of games or recent performance.  Good at reading enemy team and tracking ults.  Generally calls enemy plays before they happen.  Always sticks with Elm, largely out of obligation to bail her out when her aggression puts her in a dicey position.  Understated player, rarely in highlight compilations, but extremely consistent performance.  Plays off-meta in scrims so as not to reveal strats.
Clover - Main Healer. Can play any support, but Lucio main through and through.  Suffers from Reddit Lucio syndrome, but usually good enough (or lucky enough) to get away with it.  Loves to deny enemy followup.  Peel master, boop god.  PMA to a borderline-irritating degree.  Gives great pep talks at half time.  Tends to overcommit to strategies that are dead in the water; sometimes it's better to call it and switch comps while you still have time on the clock. Despite this, is opportunistic in the moment-to-moment sense and quick to capitalize on enemy vulnerabilities.
Flynt Coal - Lucio one-trick.  I mean, come on.
Wukong - ???  Exclusively plays off-meta heroes and weird shit.  Talented but remains on ladder because he doesn’t like the rigid structure of tournament play.  Refuses to be confined to a single role.  Hates role lock cause he can’t swap mid game anymore.  Despite all this, somehow tends to be more of an asset than a detriment.  Definitely a team player.  PMA king.  Occasionally finds legitimately competitive strata for underutilized heroes.  Nutty with hammond movement, godawful with mines.  Has the Winston skin equipped, of course.
Ilia - DPS.  Popular streamer.  Tried going pro for a bit, but didn’t like the schedule and retired shortly.  Frequently plays with the community and does weird custom game modes for a laugh.  Loves Daddy Rein Chases Tiny Torblets.  Refuses to open loot boxes, much to the dismay of her stream.  Plays Golfing Over It during long queues.  Draws all her own custom emotes.
Watts - DPS.  Mains Widow, Sombra; plays anything that lets him avoid ever actually engaging the enemy at close range.  Thinks the game stopped being good when Sombra GOATS stopped being a thing.  Spends all day on twitter heckling pro players and declaring Overwatch a dead game.  Suspected of cheating.  Considers himself a shotcaller but isn't very good at it.
Tyrian - Plays Junkrat and Roadhog exclusively.  Thinks it's bullshit that the game doesn't have friendly fire.  Thinks it's bullshit that Junkrat doesn't deal self-inflicted damage anymore.  Master of the bounce shot.  Tends to treat the game like a TDM and forget the objective in favor fragging out.  Targets a single enemy player and tries to get them to tilt.  Uses voice chat but only laughs.  Never makes callouts.  Trash talks in all-chat.  Considers it a personal victory if he gets someone to rage quit.
Hazel - No Role.  Doesn't really get the idea of the metagame; knows it's generally good to have a balanced team but thats about as deep as he chooses to go.  Was one of the old guards of PC gaming but now that it's a mainstream hobby has to refuses to confront that he's hot garbage at them.  Can't really parse everything that's happening onscreen in a fast-paced game like overwatch, so he just picks Torb (regardless of map or attacking/defending status) and uses the turret as a security blanket.  Godawful turret placement.  Still has a good time somehow.
Cinder - Main Tank.  Likes the importance of the role, and especially the way her team has to follow her calls for any chance of success.  A nice balance of aggression and craftiness, she makes a fearsome opponent.  Callouts could be more frequent/detailed, but her directions are always good when given.  Very susceptible to emotional ups and downs, and often takes out frustration on teammates.  Takes losses very hard, gloats about wins.  Happiest with an Ana pocket.
Emerald - Offtank.  Would be much happier on DPS or Support, but desperate to show off and live up to Cinder's expectations.  Sticks with her main tank except when it's absolutely necessary to peel for the back line.  Tends to be overcautious with ults; she's good enough mechanically to earn them relatively quickly, but fear of whiffing one makes her reticent to spend them.  Flawless bubble timing on Zarya.
Mercury - Support.  Still considers Symmetra a support.  Quick to whip out the blaster and try to fight off flankers instead of calling for assistance.  Knows all the angles for a narsty biotic grenade.  Plays as though he's got better positioning and backup than he does; frequently gets opponents to back off just by winning the mental game.  Will let allies die on ladder if they piss him off.

Pumpkin Spice and Football 8/8
Tumblr media
Thank you so much to all of you have read and supported this fic. It is very dear to my heart. I am also very sorry for the delay with this final chapter but I so hope you enjoy. Thank you to @mel-loves-all for the beautiful edit. This chapter and all others are available on AO3.
Oliver and Felicity arrived slightly later than planned at the Queen family cabin. Moira and Thea welcomed them with open arms and supper on the table.
They had just begun eating when Thea burst, “So you’ve been outed? Are you okay?”
Oliver beamed. “More than okay, I’m thrilled. I’m so lucky and proud to be dating such an amazing woman.” He turned to Felicity, taking her hand. “I’m glad the world knows.”
“Aww, you guys are sweet.” Thea took a sip from her wine glass.
“I’m so glad you are joining us for Thanksgiving, Felicity.” Moira smiled then turned to her son. “Oliver, the turkey is in the kitchen in case you need to do any prep for tomorrow.”
Felicity looked at her boyfriend, “You’re cooking the turkey?”
“Yes, I’m a man of many talents. I aim to impress.” Oliver gave Felicity a kiss on the cheek.
“Colour me impressed.” Felicity yawned. “Sorry, long day. I can help with these dishes, then I think it will be an early night for me.”
Moria got up, began gathering dishes. “No worries about the dishes, I’ll just put them in the dishwasher. I set you and Oliver up in the green suite at the back. You have your own ensuite bathroom. I hope you will be comfortable there.”
“Mom, Felicity and I…” Oliver began before she kicked him not so softly under the table at the same time as giving him the we will talk about this later look. Oliver was confused. “We are going to head to bed. It’s been a long day.” Oliver took Felicity’s hand practically dragging her from the room. “Felicity,” he hissed as they reached the stairs.
Felicity shook her head, walked around him, leading the way up the stairs. She kept walking to the back of the hallway as Moira said the room was in the back.
Oliver couldn’t lie he appreciated the view, he followed her until they were both in their room. He’d brought their bags up here earlier but had hoped to discuss the sleeping arrangements. “Felicity,” he closed the door turning back to his girlfriend who promptly came up on her tippy toes to capture his mouth.
Felicity knew Oliver wanted to talk but first, she really needed to kiss her boyfriend, so she did. When she pulled back Oliver looked dazed.
“Wow! What was that for? Not that I didn’t like that, I mean you can do that whenever you want. You know that right? Anytime you want.” Oliver smiled, he knew he had a big dumb grin on his face, he couldn’t help it. He’d never been happier.
Felicity took a step back, sat on the edge of the bed. “I know, we need to talk about sleeping arrangements. Obviously, your mother thought,” Felicity looked around the room, “well, I guess she thought we were moving faster than we are or have. I just want you to know that I’d be fine sharing this room. If you are comfortable, I mean. We don’t have to do anything. This is not about that. But I do, like doing things, we could, “ Felicity looked at Oliver, she knew she was blushing. “We could cuddle.”
Oliver couldn’t take the grin off his face. “Yes, we can cuddle. I’m totally comfortable with that. I’d like to wait on doing more though.” He watched Felicity’s face fall. “I mean I want you. Like I really want to...with you. But I’d rather my mother and sister not be nearby when that happens.”
“Oh!” Felicity blushed. “Of course, I want that too. For us to be alone when we…” She trailed off.
“When I make love to you. Strange, I’ve never used that term before but for us, for us, I think it’s perfect.” Oliver leaned down, giving Felicity a gentle kiss. “While we are here we will cuddle.”
*****
Felicity awoke it was dark. She could see the faint shape of Oliver in the dark. “What are you doing?” She mumbled. “Come back to bed, it’s cold.”
Oliver chuckled. “Here, let me put an extra blanket over you.” Oliver opened a drawer, to pull out a thick red blanket, he walked over, placing it over Felicity. “Better?”
“Not as good as you.” Felicity began to crawl out from under the covers. She grabbed her glasses from the nightstand. “Where are you going? You aren’t ditching me, are you?”
“Never!” Oliver bent down to kiss her forehead. “I have to go start the turkey. Today’s the big day Felicity - Turkey Day! I like to get it started early so I can most of it done by the time the games start.”
Felicity laughed. Of course, this was football related. “I’ll just..” Felicity began to get out of bed.
“No, you sleep! When you get up I’ll make you coffee.” Oliver began to pull the covers back up on Felicity.
Felicity put her glasses back on the nightstand. “Okay, if you insist. You really are the best boyfriend, Oliver Queen.” Felicity sighed, snuggling into the bed.
Oliver smiled as he watched her fall back to sleep, he would love to get back in bed with her but the turkey was calling him.
*****
The weekend was full of relaxing - board games, movies and chatting. They just finished a game of Clue when Felicity looked at Oliver. He had something on his mind. “I’m going to go make some tea. Would anyone else like some? I’m leaning toward peppermint.”
“Peppermint sounds great.” Thea nodded.
Felicity pushed herself up from the way too comfortable couch. She wasn’t at all surprised when she heard Oliver softly say, “I’ll come with you.”
Felicity had just filled the kettle when Oliver turned her around for a searing kiss. “I think we should go back to New York.” He practically growled.
“Now?” Felicity had to admit she was surprised they were supposed to leave until tomorrow.
“Yes, I want some alone time with my girlfriend. Felicity, you are amazing.” If there was one thing Oliver realized this weekend it was that Felicity was it for him. He always thought it would take time to know it was the one but really he’d known the first time he’d seen her when she spilt the pumpkin spice latte on him. Whenever he smelled pumpkin he would always think of her. After seeing her with his family, there was no denying it, she was his one.
Felicity leaned up to give Oliver a kiss. “I’ll just make tea for Thea then. Why don’t you go explain to your family.”
The kettle boiled, Felicity walked into the living as Oliver finished explaining. “I just want some time alone with Felicity. I hope you understand.”
Felicity blushed, handed Thea her tea. “Thank you so much for inviting me and including me in your family this weekend. It truly was special.”
Thea got up, pulling Felicity into a hug. “Thanks for making my brother so happy.”
“Well,” Felicity looked over at Oliver,  “he makes me happy so it’s easy.”
Moira stood. “Felicity, it was a pleasure getting to know you. I hope to see you again soon.”
“Alright, let’s go pack so we can get most of the drive done in the daylight.” Felicity followed Oliver, the truth was she couldn’t wait to be alone with him either.
*****
They made good time, getting back to their condo building just after dark. “It pays to leave a day early it seems.” Oliver smiled as he took their bags out of the vehicle.
They stepped on the elevator. Suddenly, Felicity felt very nervous. This was it. She was going to sleep with Oliver Queen. She wanted to, of course, but now that she was going to do it. Oliver Queen and his very hot body. Felicity looked down at herself in her oversized Jets sweatshirt and leggings. Not exactly sexy, she thought to herself.
“Felicity,” Oliver grumbled. Oliver had no idea what she was thinking but doubt was written all over her face.
Felicity looked up at Oliver nervously.
Oliver dropped their bags, capturing her face in his hands. “I love you. And we don’t have to do anything you don’t want to.”
“I want you, Oliver. But why don’t I go change first, you know, put something a little sexier on..” Felicity looked down.
“Felicity, you are beyond sexy right now. In fact, I can’t think of a time or outfit when I’m not attracted to you.” Oliver watched Felicity’s eyes widen in surprise this woman had no idea how beautiful she was.
“Thank you. I wasn’t fishing for compliments.” Felicity leaned down to grab her bag as the elevator dinged for their folder.
Oliver followed Felicity to her door. “I know you weren’t but I also need to get better at telling you all the ways you amaze me. It’s not just your amazing looks but also your brain, the way you support me and others, your kindness, Felicity you are the most amazing woman I’ve ever met.”
Felicity unlocked her door, then turned slowly to look up at Oliver. “I’d like you to come inside now and make love to me.”
Oliver did not need to be asked twice.
*****
After the Thanksgiving break, things picked up for the New York Jets. Coach Lance reminded his team that they could not let up, every game counted.
Oliver used to worry that having a girlfriend would distract him, split his focus, it turned out to be just the opposite. He’d always had Jets fans and his family supporting him but Felicity’s support was different. She truly understood how important football was to him. He never needed to apologize or explain.
He made sure to show Felicity his appreciation whenever he could. She told him he spoiled her but there was no who deserved it more.
The press loved them. Dubbed them Olicity and they were New York’s favourite couple.
Felicity watched the practice from the sidelines, taking some candid pictures. She’d give them to Caitlin to see if she could use them. She had an interview set up with a rookie wide receiver after practice. Curtis Holt made a bit of a name for himself in last week’s game so now was the best time to get his profile out there.
She was adjusting to her public profile better than she thought she would. Felicity was always a pretty private person, now the press was digging. Luckily, she didn’t have skeletons in her closet.
The practice ended, Oliver jogged in her direction. “Hey, you still up for the Diggle’s dinner this evening? I know you have an interview.”
“Yes, I’ll be there after I type up my notes. I’ll text you when I’m on my way.” She squeezed Oliver’s hand. They didn’t really do public displays of affection but she needed to touch him.
Oliver smiled. “See you then.”
Curtis appeared at her side. “Hey, Curtis. Nice to officially meet you. Let’s make you an awesome Jets profile. I’ll interview, maybe do a little video, Caitlin will take some professional pictures tomorrow. Oh, and if there is anything you want your fans to know that I don’t ask, just let me know.”
Curtis smiled. “This sounds great, Felicity. Thanks for your help. I was also wondering if you could take a look at my current social media. I’m open to whatever advice you have to give.”
“Sure, thing. Let’s get to it.”
*****
“Felicity, what do you want to do about tomorrow evening?” Oliver kissed her forehead as they lay tangled in each other’s arms.
“Tomorrow night?” Felicity’s brain had turned to mush thanks to her amazing boyfriend. She turned to look up at him.
“It’s the first night of Hanukkah, I’d like to be with you. I mean, if you don’t mind. I’m not Jewish but it’s important to you so it’s important to me.” Oliver reached down to hold her hand.
“I love you, Oliver. Of course, I want you to be with me. Thank you for respecting my beliefs.” A tear streamed down her face as she really was lucky. This was the man she’d been waiting for.
*****
Oliver spent every night of Hanukkah with Felicity, they even took her menorah on the road as they had an away game. The Jets continued to win, it was pretty clear they were going to make the playoffs. There was a happy buzz around.
They spent Christmas with Moira and Thea at the cottage but had to head back quickly as they had their final game against their biggest rivals The New England Patriots. The winner would win the division.
Felicity knew Oliver was especially worried about this game. She did everything she could to support him. Gameday came, Moira and Thea made the trip to New England to show their support.
The game was close but the Jets maintained a lead. With less than a minute to play the Patriots tied it up. Felicity felt ill. It wasn’t over yet. Oliver got the ball next.
Oliver looked over at Felicity on the sidelines. She nodded. Without words, Oliver knew she was telling him he had this. With renewed confidence, he headed out on the field.
Oliver’s first throw was dropped by the receiver. He shook it off. Everyone was just nervous. When the players gathered for a quick huddle he reminded his team that he knew just how good they were and how they could do this. On second and ten, Oliver threw long to the rookie Holt, who no one was covering him. Holt ran the ball in for a touchdown, the Jets won the game. Everyone rushed to celebrate with Curtis in the endzone. Oliver stood smiling, watching the celebrations.
Felicity could barely contain her excitement. She was jumping up and down on the sidelines. She rushed up to hug Moira and Thea in what was a quickly emptying stadium. “ WE DID IT!!!!”
Oliver rushed to the sidelines but couldn’t see Felicity. Where was she? He looked up to see her celebrating with his Mom and sister. Felicity was already part of his family he just had to make it official.
When Felicity felt Oliver’s eyes on her she turned giving him a smile. She stuck one finger up, meaning she’d be there in a moment, then rushed down the stairs into his waiting arms. “I’m so proud of you, Oliver! I knew you could do it! I KNEW IT! But seeing it!! Do you know how amazing you are??”
“Felicity, I love you. I’ve never been so happy.” He hugged her tight.
“On to the playoffs! Go Jets Go!”
*****
Felicity did extra profiles and interviews for the playoffs. With the players getting more attention it was a chance to introduce them to more people. The Jets were seen as the underdogs, this led to people jumping on their bandwagon.
It was good for Felicity to keep busy as Oliver was busier than ever. He met with a sports psychologist to come up with strategies to keep his cool in high-pressure situations and shake off mistakes. He found the psychologist so great, he asked her to come speak to the whole team.
Felicity overheard Coach Lance thanking him for recognizing how this would benefit everyone. She knew how much Oliver respect Coach Lance, his words would mean a lot.
Despite the help, she could see the pressure getting to Oliver. They were living together now in Felicity’s condo so she knew he wasn’t sleeping. She did what she could but it was something he would have to deal with himself.
After dinner, during the week before the division finals, they were to play the Patriots again, Oliver was studying game tape. Felicity looked at him, he was exhausted. There was no way he was retaining this information. It was time for her to step in.
She walked over, sat next to him on the couch. “Oliver, can you press pause for a moment?”
Oliver paused the tape. “I was wondering if you could do something for me?”
Oliver nodded. He really didn't’ have time but if Felicity was asking.
“I want you to turn the tape off, come take a bath with me then go to bed. Baby, you are exhausted. I can see it. You have done all you’ve can for tonight. We will set an early alarm so you can review the tape before you head to practice tomorrow. But for now, we need to take care of you. We need you to be in top shape for the game. So, Oliver, I guess what I’m asking is will you let me take care of you?” Felicity was so scared he was going to say no. She knew it was a lot to ask.
Oliver pressed stop on the remote, turned off the TV. He turned to Felicity with tears in his eyes. “Thank you.” He kissed her softly on the lips before she led him to the bath.
*****
It was Super Bowl Sunday,  the New York Jets were playing the LA Rams. The Diggles, Felicity’s mother Donna and Oliver’s mother and sister were there. Everyone was pumped, wearing their Jets green.
They already experienced a lot of excitement this weekend but tonight’s game meant everything to Oliver, therefore it meant everything to Felicity.
Oliver jogged off the field after warm up. He stopped to talk to Coach Lance. “Coach, no matter what happens tonight, I want to thank you for believing in me. We have an amazing team.”
“I’m proud of you, Oliver. You really came into your own this year. I can’t help but think Ms. Smoak had a little to do with that. No matter what happens tonight, you are a winner.” Coach Lance squeezed Oliver’s shoulder.
“Don’t I know it.” Oliver beamed. “If you will excuse me I need to grab a quick moment with her before the fun begins.”
Coach Lance nodded.
Oliver jogged over to Felicity, he took her hand. “Can you come with me for a moment?”
Felicity nodded, following Oliver as he led her into the tunnel that led to the dressing rooms.
“Felicity, before anything. I want to thank you. I want to thank you for everything. You have made me a better football player and a better person. I owe everything to you, I need you to know this.” Oliver stroked her cheek.
Felicity shook her head. “No, baby, it’s all you. I’m just cheering you on but you, you amaze me. I love you! I’m so glad I get to be with you for this.”
“Felicity,” Oliver got down on his knee. “I want you to be with me for everything.” He opened a ring box. “Felicity Smoak, will you marry me?”
The tears were streaming down her face as she nodded. “Yes! Yes! Yes!”
Oliver got up, kissed his fiance. “No matter what happens, I’ve already won. I love you, Felicity.”
They came out of the tunnel together, they went to their family and friends who were overjoyed with the news. Felicity knew she had never been this happy.
The game wasn’t even close. The New Jets won the Super Bowl 42-10, Oliver was Super Bowl MVP. When he was asked now that he’d won the Super Bowl what did he want to do next he said he wanted to marry his fiance. Everyone cheered.
Felicity smiled looking up at her fiance. Posting yet another Tweet about the Super Bowl champs the New York Jets!
So hope you enjoyed the ending! Thanks so much for reading!

what about your favourite cherik fics of all time? (:
Dear anon, I am so sorry for the delay. I’ve been meaning to put this list for about a week now, but I feel as if I’m missing some fics. Most of these are fandom favourites and might not come as any surprise, but these are my all time favourite fics that I’ve probably read more than once and more than twice. I tried to keep a wide variety of fics, including both one-shots and multi-chapters as well as different genres. I hope you enjoy these fics as much as I do.
Earnestly-endlessly’s Favourite Cherik Fics
***********************************************
Anarchy in the U.K. – Yahtzee
Summary: “Good God, Erik thought. The Prince of Wales is gay.”
Charles lives in the unceasing glare of the public spotlight, yet keeps his sexual orientation a closely held secret, afraid he could lose his throne and force his deeply troubled younger sister into a role that would crush her. Erik, journalist and world traveler, has been a loner most of his life; he has little patience for closet cases. But a chance meeting in Kenya brings these two opposites together and sets in motion a love affair that will challenge the British monarchy – and their most deeply held beliefs about who they are, and who they should be.
Continuing Education – aesc and spicedpiano
Summary: To his students, Erik Lehnsherr is despotic and terrifying. To his department head, he’s the brilliant young researcher who abandoned his prestigious job overnight, moving across the country to join MIT’s faculty. But to Charles Xavier, he is a contradiction. As Erik and Charles settle into their new roles as colleagues, their professional rivalry starts to spill over into the personal.
The Sonnet Series – afrocurl, nekosmuse
Summary: Erik Lehnsherr is a visiting professor at Columbia University, as well as an acclaimed and award winning poet. Charles Xavier is a lead researcher with the Genetics Department who is well on his way to tenure. But what happens when Charles has to cancel a class because half his students abandon him in favour of a mysterious new English Lit professor? Naturally he ends up sitting in in the class, where Professor Lehnsherr mistakes him for a student. It’s really too bad Erik has such a strict policy against dating students. It’s also too bad Erik doesn’t seem to know how to use Google.
Bifurcation – spicedpiano
Summary: Bifurcation - (n.) the splitting of a main body into two parts.
In medicine, a single mistake can mean the difference between life and death.
For cardiothoracic surgeon Charles Xavier, a fatal error leaves him standing at a crossroads … and at the mercy of the man he has not faced since their relationship fell apart thirteen months ago.
Dr. Erik Lehnsherr has a fearsome reputation. Due to his incisive autopsy reports, he has gotten more surgeons fired in two years than any other pathologist has managed over an entire career. But when an old enemy returns to Erik’s life, he must find a way to temper his pride – or lose the man he loves, all over again.
Runs in the Family – Anonysquirrel (chibrisuchan)
Summary: In which mpreg!Charles Bakes All The Things, overprotective!Erik calls his small round tea-drinking husband “Vati’s little teapot”, Tony Stark/Bad Ideas is Stark Industries’ most profitable OTP, and Alex and Steve are somehow along for the ride. And the cookies.
For the Record – endingthemes
Summary: As prominent figures in the mutant rights movement, activists Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr are pretty much household names. When a romance scandal between them breaks, their celebrity reaches new heights, and though the increased exposure is great, there’s a big problem – the two of them are just friends.
Too bad no one believes them.
Rumor Mill – Ikeracity
Summary: Erik is the grumpiest, most foul tempered worker at Stark industries. His grumpiness is the stuff of legends. So it’s obviously the talk of the office when Erik is being made to go to the company party and he’s bringing his husband. There’s rumors flying round about how much of a masochist or equally antisocial bastard Erik’s husband must be to put up with him. Others think he must be a meek mouse perhaps bullied by Erik.
What they weren’t expecting was the confident, charming, adorable and unbelievably nice Charles that turns up on Erik’s arm. What they certainly weren’t expecting was how much Erik obviously adores his husband and how happy he is to let others see this.
Into Your Tar, Honey – tomato_greens
Summary: Really, Alex doesn’t know why he’s in the damn class. (Or, the one in which Charles teaches an online Introduction to Biology course, and Alex reads more than he expected to.)
If You Like The Book, You’ll Hate the Movie – paperclipbitch
Summary: Modern-Day High School AU. It’s not until Hank realises half the class are glancing towards the back of the classroom with something like nerves and something like schadenfreude that he finds out Alex Summers is back.
The boy with the heart on his sleeve – euphorbic
Summary: Charles loses a high-stakes bet to Raven and is required to get a tattoo. However, when he makes a disparaging remark about the art form, Raven’s acerbic mentor, Erik, steps in.
Or, the one where Erik and Raven are tattoo artists.
Enigma – Yahtzee
Summary: Written for the following prompt: Erik dies, or finds a reversey-time mutant, or a magical time travelling device, and wakes up in the past. This time, though, it’s before he ever met Charles - in fact, it’s before his mother died.
He can save his mother that one time (thanks to his mastery over powers carrying back), but what does Erik do after that? Does he stick around, or escape and run to find Charles again (and hope everything doesn’t go wrong)?
Mutually Beneficial Transaction – Pookaseraph
Summary: In his sophomore year at Columbia University, Erik, feeling slowly strangled by his mounting college debt, places an add on a sugar daddies website. He doesn’t know exactly what to expect from it, but when he’s contacted by a man named Charles who seems less creepy than the other people who have responded to his profile, he decides to give it a shot. Charles is nothing like what he expected, and Erik finds himself slowly falling in love with his sugar daddy while trying to find out exactly what caused this amazing guy to buy his emotional and sexual intimacy when he clearly deserves so much more than that.
Food, Family, and Friends with Benefits – endingthemes
Summary: “Everyone,” Edie says, voice bursting with pride. “Erik’s here, and he’s brought his friend.” She takes Charles’ arm and pulls him forward, presenting him like a shiny object. “This is Charles.”
Charles manages a weak wave and an even weaker, “Hello.”
(In which Charles gets dragged along to his fuck buddy’s parent’s house to celebrate a Jewish holiday, and things get weird.)
In Plain Sight – arcapelago (arcanewinter)
Summary: A story where Charles and Erik have basically been together from the first time they met. The whole fate, wow we found each other thing. Now I would like the others not to know and try to bring the two 'oblivious' guys together. They of course enjoy this quite a lot
Limited Release – rageprufrock
Summary: When Alex Summers broke out of supermax to rescue his stupid kid brother, he had no idea it was going to be so fucking complicated.
Daycare Verse – brilligspoons, pocky_slash
Summary: A modern AU in which Charles runs a mutant daycare and Erik is his long-suffering engineer boyfriend.
Marrying a Mob – Ook
Summary: Charles is a teacher at a very exclusive school. When armed men burst in on the trail of two children, of course he stands up to them and gets hurt. The children are Erik Lehnsherr's children (of course); a "prominent businessman" or, less politely, "mobster". Erik is grateful to Charles for saving his children's lives at the cost of his kneecap. So very grateful.Naturally he tries to reward Charles for his actions. Equally naturally, Charles will be having none of that.Azazel finds the whole thing unspeakably hilarious. Naturally.
Chessmen (XMFC/Inception fusion AU) – kaydeefalls
Boden’s Mate: “Shaw has information that we need, and we need him alive to extract it,” Moira says, and there it is: the job is on the table. Extraction.
XMFC/Inception fusion AU. Erik is an extractor, Alex is his point man. They’re assembling a team to go after the most dangerous mind in dreamsharing: Sebastian Shaw. But unless Alex and the team can keep him in check, Erik’s desire for vengeance might just rip the whole job apart around them – and then there’s the shade that haunts his dreams…
Queen’s Gambit: “My name is Nick Fury,” he tells Raven. “And I’m here to talk to you about Cain Marko.”
XMFC/Inception fusion, sequel to Boden’s Mate. Raven’s running her own extractions these days, but the job S.H.I.E.L.D.’s dumped in her lap is a real shitshow. Two marks, two simultaneous dreams, eleven dreamers, and a hell of a lot of baggage. Time to call in a few favors – and did she mention the job involves inception?
Tabula Rasa – kaydeefalls
Summary: Five ways Erik might have first met Charles.
Humane Society – smilebackwards
Summary: Once Erik finally allows himself to decide that Charles is pretty much the best thing since sliced bread, he spends the next week being incredibly bitter that he’s Charles’ cat and not his boyfriend.
Idiot Control Now – cygnaut
Summary: Hank screws something up in the lab and everyone’s powers increase tenfold. Not knowing how to control them like this, they all try to cope and not kill each other by mistake while Hank tries to find a way to reverse the effects. Charles has a particularly hard time of it.
White Nights – spicedpiano, tahariel
Summary: Duke Erik Lehnsherr of Ironhold needs an omega to carry on his line, and Earl Charles Xavier of Westchester needs an alpha to give him the political leverage he needs in order to make his sister Queen. An arranged marriage brings them together, but Erik’s lust for war and Charles’ hidden agenda threaten to tear them apart. In the frozen Northlands of Ironhold life is hard and cold, and both Charles and Erik must give up their pretense and see each other as they really are: perfect for each other, if only they’ll acknowledge it.
Nation Building and other Diplomatic Negotiations – Pookaseraph
Summary: With the recent passage of a submissive registration law in the United Kingdom, there are now only two industrialized nation with a relatively stable government to have neither a mutant nor a submissive registration law. Erik Lehnsherr, the newly minted King of Genosha, and his Prime Minister Emma Frost intend to take advantage of this turn of events to bring the Xavier Institute to the island nation of Genosha. They both know bringing Charles Xavier, the noted activist of mutant and submissive rights, to the island will necessarily politicize the man, and create all manner of complications. With a constitution not yet finalized and external threats to Genoshan security all around them, Erik, Emma, and Charles will fight for what they believe in to shape Genosha into what it should be.
A Genosha AU with moderate D/s elements.
Politico – cygnaut
Summary: Modern Genosha Politics AU. In which Erik is l'enfant terrible of the mutant National Assembly, and his staff just wants to get him laid.
The Courtship – dvs
Summary: A story about a courtship that began five hundred years ago.
This Family comes with Batteries – Fishwrites, lynneh
Summary: A orphaned Charles Xavier goes to live with his Godfather: Tony Stark. This story is a tale of what would have happened to the events of MCU, if Tony was raising a six year old telepath in Stark Tower. There is also the matter of Charles’ robot AI manny/bodyguard/tutor/only-friend, David.
Space Oddity – MonstrousRegiment, Pangea
Space Jam: Prince Charles Xavier is Deputy Commander of the TEF Heartsteel and the newest mission they’ve been assigned starts out less than desirable and quickly goes downhill from there. It’s alright, though, he’ll cope.
It doesn’t help, though, that he’s in unrequited love with his best friend and Commander of the Heartsteel, War-Prince Erik Lehnsherr.
Jupiter Jazz: Prince Charles Xavier is still Deputy Commander of the TEF Heartsteel and life has been great ever since he and his best friend and Commander of the Heartsteel, War-Prince Erik Lehnsherr, finally got all of their feelings out on the table. Better than great, really.
It doesn’t help, though, that the Nyrulians are a bit sore over him blowing up their ship, and a war is brewing. And because Charles has that kind of luck, they’re in the middle of it.
I have loved the stars too fondly: Erik and Charles, directly after the events of Jupiter Jazz.Nothing will ever be the same.
The stars incline us, they do not bind us – ikeracity, pangea
Summary: Intergalactic Federation pilot Lieutenant Charles Xavier is assigned last-minute to a high profile mission: transporting over two thousand prison inmates from an old and overfilled prison complex to a newer, higher-capacity prison stronghold located on the outer reaches of the galaxy. Just as he’s settling down for a long and uneventful ride, things take a turn for the worse after the inmates riot and stage a hostile takeover of the ship, leaving Charles to find himself at the complete mercy of cold-blooded killers and facing the chilling prospect that he might not ever make it back home alive.
Tough little baby telepath – aesc, pearl_o
Summary: Teenage telepath Charles Xavier takes a job as a consultant, working with prickly police detective Erik Lehnsherr. Charles is used to being on his own and taking care of himself; he has no reason to think that his relationship with this stern, icy man is going to change any of that.
An absence which could not be more there – aesc
Summary: He prepared to shift another half-step over to the Current Events section (which would, of course, enrage him) when the teaser positioned by the model’s left elbow caught his eye: DATING WHILE TELEPATHIC: WHY I DON’T DO IT.
Backseat ‘verse´ – tahariel
Summary: “Charles has a very sweet nature,” Raven is saying, her hand falling to the back of his head and stroking his hair very gently, carelessly affectionate. “He doesn’t need someone to force him down, he’s very happy to go there himself. If Erik is the sort to need a fight, then there’s no way I could let him have my brother.”
Simple and Uncomplicated – Pookaseraph
Summary: Erik and Charles had been fuck buddies for some, but when Charles is in an accident he figured their relationship would be over. Erik’s visit to his bedside in the hospital changes his assumptions even as he has trouble believing Erik is sincere.
Made To Be Broken – Yahtzee
Summary: Charles makes a New Year’s Resolution: “No more straight men,” Charles repeated as he began scrolling through the apartment directory for Emma’s name. “No more futility. No more pointless hoping and heartbreak. In 2013, I never want to hear the words ‘exception,’ ‘experimenting’ or ‘phase.’ If, God forbid, I hear ‘bicurious’ even once, I may take a hostage.” Then he goes into the party, and Erik is there.
Five Bullet Points – Sperare
Summary: It was supposed to be Erik locked away in a prison one hundred stories below the ground.
Charles was never supposed to be there with him.
Terrifying Domesticity – ishipitsobad
Summary: Erik is the most dangerous and notorious mafia boss around for miles, and yet the strangest things terrify him. For example: his children, and his very pregnant mate.
The Trouble With Telepaths – endingthemes
Summary: “Are you shy about me meeting your family?” Erik asks with a huge smile. “Are you kidding me?”“It’s not funny,” Charles says, his hands firmly planted on his hips, and it’s honestly hilarious so Erik laughs right in his face.(Or a Star Trek AU in which Captain Erik Lehnsherr pays a visit to First Officer Charles Xavier's home planet and encounters a few surprises.)
Stolen – ishipitsobad
Summary: Erik is a miserable, grumpy, cantankerous bastard, and he has every fucking right to be. He drew the short end of the stick when he got the Underworld as his domain, and there isn't very much fun to be had in judging and governing dead souls who would rather be anywhere else but with Erik in the depths of Hell.
So when he meets Charles, brilliant and lovely Charles who is more popularly known amongst the mortals as Persephone, and feels the promise of something wonderful that could make his eternally doomed existence infinitely more bearable... you can bet all your drachmas Erik's not going to let Charles go any fucking time soon.
The Mutant Games – TurtleTotem
Summary: "You'll be fine, darling," Charles murmured, half-asleep, into golden hair as Raven crawled sniffling into his bed. "Your name's only in there once, Raven. They're not going to pick you." (Hunger Games AU)
City by the sea – Black_Betty
Summary: It never bothered Charles that he essentially belonged to someone else from birth. Ever since he could remember he had been told stories about the mysterious prince who was his betrothed, and who one day would be called husband. As he grew older, Charles caught his thoughts drifting away from lessons under strict tutors, his mind slipping into the hazy daydream of his life yet to come…
In Shadow and in Silence Yahtzee
Summary: Written for the following prompt: Erik is an aggressive, dangerous, cynical mutant, hardened from years of being passed through private laboratories and used for experimentation. He’s covered in surgical scars from operations, tattooed and bar coded like a lab rat, and blind from an experiment done on his eyes. … Charles Xavier finds out about him. Charles runs a sort of sanctuary for mutants that provides lost, abandoned, abused, runaway mutants with shelter, comfort, and help with ability control. He thinks he can rehabilitate Erik and save him from execution, and convinces the government that he can.
When Erik arrives, he is a lot worse than Charles thought he would be … Everyone else can see that Erik is a nuclear bomb waiting to go off, but Charles refuses to give up on him. …
The first time Charles sneaks up on him wearing no metal, it triggers him and he reacts instinctively, with violence. … Erik discovers why Charles understands him so well: he was once used in experiments as well, experiments run by his own family, and in one of them, he lost his voice, so he uses his telepathy to communicate.
Blind Erik, mute Charles, the love.
Everyday Love in Stockholm – tahariel
Summary: Prompt: Magneto is the ruler of the posthuman world. His only secret? Charles Xavier, the human he’s kept locked in his bedroom ever since his right-hand woman, Mystique, came to him pleading for mercy for her stepbrother, who accepted her mutant form and protected her as a child. The human he started fucking after Mystique was killed in battle, despite the guilt he feels at contaminating even this last promise to the woman who was integral to his life’s work and happiness.
The Tower and the Hurricane – dreamlittleyo
Summary: (Post-movie AU.) Five years after Shaw's death, Erik's predictions prove painfully accurate. Violence rages on both sides of the human/mutant conflict. In a world ravaged by war, it doesn't really matter who's more at fault. Charles struggles to teach his students a better way, but what choices will he make when peace really isn't an option?
Honest Bone and Burning Thought – Black_Betty
Summary: And so sometimes, his mind buzzing away, bright and brilliant and humming with pure expansive energy, Charles speaks without thinking at all. Without censoring himself. Without realizing that his brain has reached out and snatched something that was never his to know, or take…
The Attempt – Yahtzee
Summary: Written for the following prompt: Charles knows everything about Erik, knows how obsessive and self-destructive he is, how Erik would do anything, give anything, in his quest for vengeance against Shaw. But he also knows that Erik loves him in ways that aren't exactly platonic. I'd like to see a completely straight!Charles, out of pure love and care of Erik, initiate a romantic relationship with him. It can be because he wishes to give Erik something positive in his life or because he thinks it might help change Erik's mind about Shaw, the reason is up to author. Also, while Charles finds intimacy with Erik strange and awkward, he does enjoy the new, non-romantic layers that have developed in their relationship.

HOTLOOX REWIND: A Retrospective on Moira Capulet's Mourning Fashions
By Sydnee Lang (via OK! El Asilo)
The past six months have not been kind to Fairfax Media heiress, fashion mogul, social media icon and general person of note Moira Capulet. And I don't mean that in the snide, "oh they've aged badly," way as much as I mean that this has been a half-year of great personal tragedy for Moira.
In February, Moira had the unfortunate luck to be the one to discover the body of her cousin, Reid Fairfax, following his tragic murder at his own charity gala. A few months following, the family was rocked with further tragedy in the death of her grandfather, Leopold Fairfax, leaving young Moira Capulet as the sole inheritor of both his fortune and his media empire.
Counter to conventional wisdom, though, tragedy has far from withered Moira’s beautiful face. Quite to the contrary, actually, she has channeled the personal tragedy of her personal life into great art in the form of her latest fashions. The following will be an examination of these looks as what they are: works of art.
Tumblr media
I had to include this look in close-up (from Moira’s first public appearance after the press conference she gave following her cousin’s death), because a wide shot just doesn’t do her fantastic makeup justice. Moira stunned at a benefit brunch for AIDS research in a frankly pretty frumpy antique mourning gown, but dressed it up with silver graphic eyeliner and white mascara (a bold choice for a woman who was still, at this point, publicly bursting into tears). Girl must use industrial-strength setting spray.
Tumblr media
Okay, okay, bear with me. This look (a gorgeous Sinead Frost original dress, with silver embroidery accents hand-stitched by Moira herself) was a bit controversial in its time, but listen: it’s good.
This was the actual dress Moira was wearing when her cousin’s body was discovered, and yes, that’s his blood still on it. Reportedly, when she realized there was no hope of getting the blood out without ruining the dress itself, Moira opted to make the stains PART of the dress. And frankly, I can’t think of a more apt metaphor for grief and tragedy, can you?
(Moira has worn this number to a few events, but this snapshot is from her profile for the El Asilo Times, which you should all read right now.)
Tumblr media
Moira has gone through a few hair colors since February, but this one is a wig, actually. Capulet’s triumphant return to the modeling scene of El Asilo sure did kick off with a bang, a hitherto unprecedented collaboration between herself and the seldom-seen-together Blair Blackwood and Orianthe Bathory. Here, all three titans are seen modeling original looks from up-and-coming designer Kristel Marcel Choi, with whom Moira has partnered closely in the past.
Every look in this shoot is magnifique, obviously, but I’m really partial to the Black-Swan-meets-Jesus-Christ-meets-Weeping-Mary look Moira is sporting in this shot. They’re pretty disparate influences (and bold considering her very-much-not-a-catholic background), but astute readers of this column know I LOVE bold.
(Discussion question for this week’s article: Is Orianthe Bathory actually that sexy? Or are they just tall? It makes you think.)
Tumblr media
I think it says something about the column I write that I’m calling this the most wearable look out of the bunch. There’s not much to say about this look, but I’m including it for a few reasons: Firstly, I love a good f**king pantsuit. I know my editor is going to remove that, but it’s true. Second: Blood tears and a sleek red bob were a bold choice for the occasion, that being the press conference at which Moira properly accepted her new position as president and CEO of Fairfax Media and announced her plans to move the company’s headquarters to El Asilo over the course of the next few months.
Moira is being cagey about her plans for the company, but she has said, and I quote, that “Fairfax Media is and always has been a company for the people, and we’re interested in adding some established beacons of the free press in El Asilo to the Fairfax Media family, in order to best continue the fight for justice in not only the city-state of El Asilo, but in America itself.”
Hmmm!
I still think this makeup look does look a bit clownish, though.
That’s it for this week, dear readers. Pick up OK! El Asilo next week for a returning favorite! (Hint: It’s Anthen Reiter. Of course it is. It’s like you people don’t even KNOW me.)
(SYDNEE LANG is a real journalist, goddarn it!)
