i have a theory about why i’m so burnt out !!

#so i’ve been doing this combination preschool teaching/childcare thing for almost five years now #i’ve worked with kids of all ages #the youngest being two months #and have watched so many kids grow #and it’s been so rewarding #but i am so so so exhausted #and i think this is for two reasons #1) switching from multiple coworkers at the daycare to just me at the daycare to just me nannying #it ramped up a lot of pressure caring for so many children almost entirely on my own in 2020/2021 #my boss barely did anything except cook meals. i was doing the hands on work and the teaching and the monitoring.#i really suffered without my coworkers to rely on #then going from that education/childcare environment to an in-home nannying position #where my relationship with the parents is much more personal.. ough. i had to mask so much more (mask in the autistic sense) and it was like #i was being watched 24/7. so that’s the first reason!!#the second reason is 2) if i were a mother my child would be about kindergarten age #like thinking about the experience i have with all these children.. if the years i spent caring for them were surmounted i’d have a #school aged child and would be so spent and that kid would go to kindergarten and i’d have a few hours to relax just a bit #does that make sense?? the childcare i’ve done can’t be compared to motherhood of course but the time i’ve spent with these kids #honing their skills. playing with them. changing diapers. crafting projects. scheduling. sending them to kindergarten….. it’s A Lot #for A Lot of kids #doesn’t it make logical sense i’d be so worn out doing all those things for this long??#i spent more time with lots of these kids than their parents considering their bedtimes #like i had between eight and ten hour work days #idk the more i think about it the more it just seems natural i’d be burnt out !!#especially because they aren’t my children. i loved them all dearly as a childcare provider but don’t have the love a parent has #*can have (sorry). which can spur them to do just about anything for them. u know???#idk !! i’m excited to get out of early childhood development and childcare but also sad because it’s the only thing i know how to do hdbdjdn #anyways.txt

It's Done!

Three months of work from start to finish! All so I could finally present to the world:

Pocket, Minecraft Edition:

Some standard rambles and fun progress images under the cut :)

So, I started this project in early August, mostly as something I could do during downtime of a then upcoming trip.

I had seen some absolutely amazing art pieces by @royalnaym which kinda gave me the idea that minecraft rendered in pixel art has a pretty interesting while still very recognizable look. At the same time I came across @groupcritpowerdynamics 's speedrun pastel pieces and those really inspired me to try depicting my favourite game in one of my favourite mediums!

In the middle of August 6th, while in the middle of packing for my trip to the UK, I decided I wanted to do this and I wanted to have it to work on during the trip, so I loaded up minecraft and went looking for a screenshot worthy of immortalization. Unfortunately I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for so I made a brand new world and started looking around for the right vibes.

I knew I wanted a lone tree, and that if I ended up including the hot bar I wanted some hearts and food missing, so after running around for a few minutes I decided I would just do it myself and planted a sapling to serve as my centrepiece.

I gotta say I think the resemblance is striking!

And now as promised, the progress gif: mind the slight flashing, I did take these in all manner of different places including but not limited to: a plane, a handful of buses, and a small inn on the shores of England (not in that order).

It's pretty neat to me that you can see how different tones of lighting affect the perceived colour of the thread, I definitely noticed it more on this piece verses other larger stitch projects.

#I honestly think that one of the most enriching and rewarding parts of writing fanfiction is getting to #fully flesh out and explore a character who gets some but not-quite-enough characterization in canon #unless the character is REALLY minor there are always so many threads to pull out and weave into something new #you can even deconstruct the marketing materials! oh this character is only described as 'beautiful'? wonder how she feels about that hmmm #my original post #writing #fanfic #I'm just really proud of what I've been able to do with Miss T. it's almost all right there in the script and lyrics if you'd only look!

I've been asked a few times now, if these kinds of illustrations are traditional or digital. it's both <: The inks are traditional, made with 03 or 05 micron pen.

Then I take it to Clip Studio. Paint-bucket and basic brushes are used for big blocks of color and some preliminary details.

Brushes: Dense Watercolor, Transparent Watercolor, India Ink Darker Bleed, Bit Husky, G-pen, Milli Pen, Cross hatching texture brush. Blend: Running Color On Fiber

Somewhere in there, I'll pick up a free-to-use watercolor texture and set it on overlay, to see how it meshes with the values I already sketched in. I'll finish up the rest of the smaller details/values with the same above brushes. And voila.

i wish i was joking but the existence of the community movie has instilled an anxiety in me that cannot be assuaged whatsoever until it comes out and i find out it's good and gives me everything i want it literally burns my chest to realize that this is the last time we will see any of the characters and this is supposed to resolve their characters and plots it makes me sick what if troy and abed are not married i cannot handle this anticipation oh my fucking god
