'Thus he ended his speech, and he doesn't say
That he had wronged or spoken ill of the king,
But he prayed that God long keep the king
In life, in happiness, [in honour], and in contentment.
And when, to the people in attendance, he said,
With a steadfast countenance, "Pray for me,"
With a firm heart he presented his head
To the sharp blade that carried it off in one blow.
[And not fearing the great cruelty
Of the sharp blade [...]
Each one seeing that people bore great grief from it]
The [three] who had to die afterwards
Said nothing, as if they intentionally
Had entrusted Rochford
Alone to speak for their conscience [...]
[The Queen] was still so curious [...]
Therefore, they tell her that her brother had shown
The greatest strength of any man ever seen [...]
The story of the death of Anne Boleyn : a poem by Lancelot de Carle, JoAnn DellaNeva (Translator, Editor, Writer of added commentary)
"'I will,' he said in a good lawyerly fashion, 'not in this point arouse any suspicion which might prejudice the king's issue.' Unwilling to drop his line of questioning, Hales next claimed that George had spread malicious reports which called into question the paternity of Anne's child, Elizabeth. George did not dignify this with an answer. He knew his own sister."
Hunting the Falcon, John Guy & Julia Fox
"But George refused to answer the question with the required yes or no, not wishing, he said, “to engender or create suspicion in a matter likely to prejudice the issue the King might have from another marriage.” Nor would he respond to any suggestion that he had spread a rumour that Elizabeth was not Henry’s. The idea that he believed Elizabeth was not the king’s child and that he had repeated such an untruth was, to George, so contemptible that he would not even dignify it with a reply."
The Infamous Lady Rochford, Julia Fox
"George Boleyn's real 'crime' was to be Anne Boleyn's brother and Princess Elizabeth's uncle. He was intelligent and spirited enough to mount a powerful defence of his sister. He was powerful enough to provide the focus for Boleyn followers and, especially, those who would assert Elizabeth's rights as heir to the crown."
Anne Boleyn, Josephine Wilkinson
omg wait because the actual last thing i want to say about the shimon arc is that it's an absolute CRIME amano glossed right over this:
[ID copied from alt text: A panel from the manga Katekyo Hitman Reborn, showing Sawada Tsunayoshi. He says "I would like to... turn down the title of the Tenth Boss of Vongola." in a calm and determined manner. /End ID]
and i know i already said it but the way she ignored this entirely??? literally didn't even if only mention it once after this. and the only way she "used" it and let it affect the plot is by having tsuna & enma relationship further fall apart, through tsuna seemingly agreeing to the ceremony and to become vongola decimo when he told enma otherwise.
like are you guys seeing what i'm seeing here? because this is the main character of the manga refusing to go along with the very premise of the story. very officially refusing to do it at that, like this couldn't be a more official refusal if he tried!!! from who he's saying that to to the stakes of his decision to the way the discussion is set up to the timing of the discussion to everything about this!!! this should have mattered and should have had consequences which would have changed everything for everyone!!!!!
i'm so upset. and i know amano glossing right over things that really shouldn't be glossed right over is just part of the khr experience, but this is the absolute worst thing she could have and DID gloss right over. like again this is the main character explictly saying he wants nothing to do with the promised payoff from the premise of the story. and then nothing. nothing!!!
but what if there was something tho??? like what if after they dealt with the whole shimon thing, they actually came back to this? actually acknowledged it happened? and the ninth really agreed to respect tsuna's decision like he said he would? what then?
Thinking about Frank vs Russia again. And about the confirmation that the SINNED system was created at the same time as the DENNIS one. We know Dennis perfected his system for women but we haven't seen him ever date a man or keep a man. We have no confirmation of what he's done, and based on Dennis' eagerness in knowing if Dee and Mac got 2nd dates, I like to think he's never even tested it before. It was all based on observations. He kept it secret all these years and finally saw potential now to test it out through them. When's the second date? He's eager to know. Does it work.
And it does. Ofc it does. It was foolproof. He knew that.
Dennis isn't against a romance with Mac. The system exists since s6, Dennis clearly WANTS to keep a man. He just doesn't understand how that's already happened. Mac likes him? Wdym, he hasn't done the steps yet. Dennis just confirmed that the system works.
We know Dennis' outburst basically meant "You can't be in love with Johnny because he doesn't love you Mac, I don't love you. Move on."
But it also meant "You can't be in love with Johnny because Johnny is me! And you're not in love with me!"
Dennis is rejecting love on all grounds, in both directions. This isn't part of the plan, part of the scheme. This isn't his goal, not now. He's not ready and Mac isn't either.
The goal was simply to get Mac's attention back. To bring them back on equal footing. To be friends again. Dennis is fixing the friendship first, and Mac is being impatient and an idiot and jumping at romance and ruining the careful pacing Dennis is creating.
I knew a 5′6 guy who’d taunt every jacked, 6′3 heavy he met till they’d bring out the chrome to beat him up, whereupon he’d go “heyheyheyyy c’maahn I’m a little guy, I’m just a little guy, noooo, it’s also my birthday, I’m a little birthday boyy” and it somehow always worked - X
Month 5, day 9, next up on shading is Keen! :3 I did a smrt and split him up into several different sections/layer groups, so I have a lot of wiggle room to play around in :3 I might split off a few more things just for Maximum Wiggle Room™ but I'm as yet undecided. You'll know when/if his skirt, leg armor, and spear suddenly get both more scribbly and clearly defined >w>
Kaeya’s main love language to demonstrate his love/care for someone is Acts of Service, and every time someone refuses to let him do things for them, it makes him Sad
