having vague thoughts about E3 and the current state of AAA game development in general..

like yeah direct promotions have had more of an impact than Big Events for me, and the main thing I'd want to see out of E3 are trailers for new games or the conversations that follow online - but a few points on that

I can just as easily look up “new games for [platform] [year]” on youtube

Something about the way AAA games are built these days makes me get bored of them ⅔ of the way through, if I even make it that far, on top of them charging more for less content and hiding away the rest behind multiple DLC packs

I've mostly been buying indies the past few years and have gotten a lot of fun out of them; they continue to deliver a nearly unrivaled experience of fun gameplay mechanics and interesting/emotional stories at a ridiculously low cost

I also have emulators for going back and playing old games I really liked so I'm not exactly desperate for new games

and idk!! weird to see E3 officially ending but I also think the landscape is very different these days including the game companies themselves. I'm not a game dev so I can't rly speak to what the change has looked like on their end over the past 10-20 yrs.

#i kind of wanna read or watch an interview with someone who's done game development for Years #and see them talk about What's Changed bc on god these AAA games can be so different from each other #but still somehow sm of them get kind of boring and repetitive FAST #i can def fw some games. I haven't played all of resident evil but they've always been fun. the only one I've played but not beat #is RE zero. also metroid - they know what they're doing over there. MP HD remake?? 😴🛌 MP Dread?? 😲⁉️🏃‍♀️💨#i am also a fromsoft girlie.. I've never played armored core but elden ring FUCKED. especially after i learned how to mod it 😹#i played totk and that was fun but... idk if imma beat it 🙈 I'm p into dead cells rn. inspired by kahlopatra aaa they r my babies!! i love their dynamic sm i decided to write a small fic abt it with ellie ^_^ main inspo:

ellie's hands were starting to get sweaty, and her eyes shifted uncomfortably from your eyes to your lips. she tried to make it seem like a casual glance, but she was failing miserably. you didn't seem to notice it though.

a part of her wished, begged for you to notice her staring, and bring it up. she wished that you would acknowledge her feelings and stop torturing her. oh, it hurt so bad.

the more logical ellie refrained from thinking that way. this wasn't a fairy tale and you would most likely reject her anyway. what was there to expect?

both sides of her were constantly at war, jumbling up her senses. all she could think about was you, you, you. you were so divine, stunning, majestic, and ellie? ellie was just ellie, and being your best friend was already a wish come true. self-loathing was just something ellie couldn't quite get rid of.

"ellie? are you even listening?" you snapped, bringing her back to her senses. you inched your face closer to hers, so that if you moved an inch closer, your lips would meet. ellie froze, her face instantly burning up. thank god it was dark in here, or she would never live it down.

"sorry, i was.. thinking about something."

"and what could be more important than your best friend? mhm?" you joked, grinning.

"nothing," ellie answered with sincerity. she did mean it, nothing could ever compare to you, "my eyes are only for you."

she couldn't quite see your expression, but she could hear your smile through your voice. even if she couldn't be your girlfriend, this was already good enough for her.

"awh, that's awfully sweet els," you said, sitting next to her on the bed.

"so, what were you talking about earlier on?" ellie questioned, putting her arm around your shoulder, pulling you closer.

you stared at her, not cutting eye contact. "i'm hosting a party at my house tomorrow, could you come?"

she snorted, looking away, smiling so hard she feared her face might split in half. eye contact made her go weak in the knees, especially with you. "of course, i don't have anything to do anyway. i'll be there."

'great!', you said, suddenly standing up. 'It's late now, I have to get back before my mom goes batshit crazy,' you joked, picking up your jacket that was hanging from ellie's gaming chair.

'what, can't you like, tell her you're staying over?' ellie asked. it came off as a joke but ellie was serious. she couldn't mind. 'pretty sure she knows me n'all, y'know.'

'ellie, what am i supposed to wear? your glow-in-the-light boxers?' you stifled a giggle. before ellie could even retort back, you were out of her bedroom and down the stairs.

'i mean.. that could work..' she mumbled to herself, staring at the you-shaped hole you left on her bed.

ellie was so in love with you that she couldn't even care less about what you wore. hell, she probably preferred you with no clothes on. those curves on display, thinking of that basically made her mouth water. of course, she would never say that out loud. but sometimes the thought of that did seem interesting.

This is kind of hard to explain but my own belief/theory about Over the Garden Wall has always been that The Unknown is the liminal place where stories and games and children's make-believe all end up once forgotten. It explains the strange dream logic of the setting. Its why, until Wirt and Greg come along, all these character's stories seem to be in stasis - these are stories that were forgotten before their endings could be thought of!! Its explains the two kids in the beginning and their boat which later shows up in the unknown fully sized and run by frogs - it's what the kids were playing about!! Its why Endicott's name appears on that one gravestone - perhaps so kid found the grave and decided to use the name in a game of make-believe!! Even the opening suggests it - "long-forgotten stories" and all that

Idk it it makes sense but it's always how I've imagined it being more than it being death or purgatory or Dante's inferno 😅 It's not an afterlife for people!! Its an afterlife for stories!! (Sorry for rambling in your inbox sm your post just got me excited 🤣)

Oh my god, that’s so good, that’s so good! I love this interpretation so much, “It’s an afterlife for stories” made something in my brain click, it’s such a perfect description for what The Unknown is. Over the Garden Wall is all about dreams and childishness and changing stories and breaking out of cycles, just — AAA! Yes! I’m going to be thinking about this forever.

And I love it because my own reading has been for a while is that The Unknown is the liminal space where stories take place, ghost stories and fairy tales and folktales, the mythical Americana that lies just underneath the real one, so you picked up on the exact vibes that I watched the show with and that’s fucking great

Yes, he is! Firstly because he is a human, and secondly because he only exists in a digital space so the water is really just... pixels and such. So really, anyone is safe from water bc it's not real water, y'know what I mean?

I think i've seen a few height charts BUT!!! Inkling and Octolings are significantly smaller than human beings on average! I'd say the typical inkfish is about 5ft tall. Based on a few things:

In game, you can pretty much leap OVER other players aka twice your height... so! 5 ft.

Marina is around 6 ft and Pearl is around 5 ft. I think Marina is just very tall. Because enemy octarians as well as playable octolings are about the same height as Inklings.

Then again, keep in mind, all players are 14ish years in age. So... maybe get bigger? but I think it's cute if they're small so Gordon is 5 feet, Tommy is probs a little under 6ft but he WILL keep growing... bubbly's probs just under 4ft and Coomer is MASSIVE at like 7-8 feet. (uhh my original art doesn't reflect this... oopsie)

Aaa welcome 🧸 anon!! And I don’t have one yet, but if you guys wanna talk to me abt one then I’d certainly be happy! I love yandere self aware aus sm 😩💕

Azul is absolutely one of the first characters I think would become self aware and use it to his advantage tho! He’s super smart, so I just know he’d find some way to manipulate the game to increase his odds of coming home. If he manipulate the other characters, he can do it to the code too /hj

Whenever you pull on event banners where he has a card, you don’t have to wait very long before multiple copies of the card come home. And even if he’s not an event card, his dorm uniform card will find it’s way into your pulls

Not only does this help him be closer to you and increase the chances of you wanting to use his cards, but it also helps to stop other characters from coming home. After all, how can you get anyone else’s cards when every pull is one of his?

Maybe if he does this for long enough, you’ll just stop pulling for other characters cards entirely? Of course, this plan requires for him to be the only self aware character, or for the others to not be as adept at altering the game as he is

apprentice (and other) headcanons: cinderpaw and rampaw both being daring just gives me the impression of them both being incredibly chaotic and doing reckless apprentice things 24/7, definitely giving yewberry gray hairs.

featherpaw grew up with them but i view him as more reserved based on his expression in the latest moon---he stills like to play games with the other apprentices, but he has way more common sense than cinderpaw and rampaw.

russetpaw seems like the ringleader. she's also daring, but the oldest of the lot. she definitely comes up with a lot of the ideas/schemes for the group. she has a lot of influence over the other apprentices.

juniperpaw is the type to always be listening/observing. she's curious and cunning. i don't have many ideas about ospreypaw yet, but i like the idea of her just being goofy. she's a silly! very happy to just go along with things but also a lot more clever than most cats give her credit for.

queenie is so cute, she looks so soft and huggable... she gives off motherly vibes fr.

last thought: i love how you draw some cats with a spiky tail (i love your art in general), ex: thistleskip, rampaw, bub, yewberry (i think), etc. it's so cute!

hiii my dear!! ouuu yes strangely enough i feel like he...doesn't really have many routines?? LMFAO like he's more type b personality than type a, i picture him to be a hella procrastinator so every day he's just chillin until like last minute he crams for exams in like three days or something, and then once finals are over he's just. chillin again LOL like i think he's just naturally smart so he doesn't have to have a study routine or anything like that. he probs enjoys not having each day be like the one before yknow livin life on the edge. BUT he has hella discipline when it comes to soccer fs he doesn't take anything soccer related lightly

similarly when it comes to morning routines, day time routines, before bed routines, i don't think he has many of those either since i'd picture he's got a really unpredictable schedule? like w practices n frat events etc, sometimes he's getting like two hours of sleep n other days he's like...sleeping in until noon or something haha. i picture he falls asleep pretty fast n tries to get some shuteye wherever he can n suffices on mini 15 min naps throughout the day. but yeah anyways i don't think he has like a oh im up at 6am everyday n go to bed at 10pm everynight sort of thing

in ch7, there was a scene where suguru was like "ohh never skip the pre game ritual man" or something like that when gojo said he was going to skip his run. yea i would say the only ritual he does without fail before every game is go for a run!!! i think it helps him clear his head and he likes the runner's high lol. he's also giving me wellness podcast dude vibes i feel like he does wimhoff breathing or meditation or some shit like that before games HAHAH

OMG sorry this is so long i'm in like a weirdly imaginative state rn plus im on pc n i always type a lot when im on my pc haha. but thanks sm for the question <33 this was fun to think about

i love indies sm i just added 14 to my wishlist. there was one AAA game i was somewhat interested in but decided against bc it felt like too much of a hit or miss.

speaking of which, i counted and yeah i like 92% of my indies but only like 50% of AAAs (⁠´⁠-⁠﹏⁠-⁠`⁠；⁠) at that price too??? girl.. why pay like 2-5 games' worth on a forgettable experience that won't stretch past 20hrs when u could just get the 2-5 games, have them probably be great and keep busy for months

#eee im not sure which one imma play next but I'm glad i got a bunch added ૮ ᴖﻌᴖა #i don't usually go looking at games unless I'm actively looking for a new one so a backlog here is both new and welcomed :3 #i am such a girl who loves having a big backlog of things to play or watch
