Ea’s Bad Batch Rant -ep 1
Tumblr media
Welcome to this part of Tumblr where, after I watch each BB episode, I’ll give you my detailed (yeah lmao as if) analysis and emotional ramble. SPOILERS AHEAD!! Let’s gooo (this is gonna be a long one, 70 minutes of ep!!):
First of all HOW DARE THEY. Filoniiiiii.
I was NOT expecting to start with a mission right before Order 66 are you fucking kidding me? I immediately went “Nope, not doing this.”
Look at the initial flashback of the clone wars. I was shaking, too many memories.
I haven’t watched Rebels but I know some things and I know who Caleb is. So HI Padawan Caleb, good to see you. But... wasn’t Kanan’s skin complex a bit darker?
It’s going nicely, some comedy thrown in, The Bad Batch being wholesome and just destroying clankas! Tech is growing on me.
Master Billaba why are you so disappointed omg ahah thank them immediately!?!?
Yo I fucking swear, I swear to god that when tbb was leaving and the Captain turned to receive Order 66 I jumped from the seat so fast. Like I yeeted myself so fucking far you cannot understand. Literally, fuck fuck fuck this. My anxiety and ptsd from the clone wars went 📈📈📈📈📈📈
Rip Jedi Master Billaba.
Run Caleb, just run.
(I’m so fucking glad to see The Bad Batch is immune to Order 66. Like so glad.)
Ok Crosshair and Hunter go rescue Mr Padawan there.
CROSSHAIR WHAT THE FUCK CHIILLLLL
nope nope nope this is not going well. I was wrong, I fucked up, I spoke too soon.
“Good soldiers follow orders” noooooooo
Hunter being wholesome omg, what a dad energy he has. I already love him.
Omg Hunter’s scream when Kanan jumps.
Crosshair literally chill dude, let’s all vibe together.
Also uhm... it hurts to see them all so pale. Please for the love of god fix that, it’s unsettling.
The way they return to Kamino so oblivious of what’s going on. It hurts
“Coruscant guard is here” YES SHOW ME FOX YOU COWARDS
Uhm.... Filoni can we talk for a second? Yeah I would like to ask you WHY? Y’know, was it really necessary to show the corpse of a dead Jedi and the hand with the lightsaber falling off? This scene is gonna be stuck in my mind forever. I’m crying.
Can we also talk about the music? Haunting, a masterpiece throughout the whole episode.
This is not a kid’s show.
Love that they have their own personal barrack filled with their stuff, so precious. Plus the Tooka doll, omg😩
The amount of times I’ve said “Crosshair chill” by now is over 9000. Spoiler: it gets worse.
Absolutely love the tension between Hunter and Crosshair. Live for these moments.
Tech listing the characteristics of his mates and then “my exceptional mind” LMAO brag about it.
“The attempt on my life has left me scarred and deformed”. “You can say that again” Wrecker OMG I wheezed. Echo’s like “bruh”. That’s what I need. Right here. God I love this.
“Still don’t think the regs are programmed?” This part made me shiver. It literally terrifies me. Also Tech is growing so much on me...
Hello Omega, nice to meet you.
“adolescent human female” Tech what the fuck it’s just a girl.😂 I love her accent and her smile! And she’s a medical assistant, love that too!!!!!!
Omega really said 😃😃👋🏼👋🏼
Here comes Tarkin ugh
Why does it hurt to see regular clones without helmet? Probably cause they all look like Fives, Kix, and the others. My heart is crying
Also, why is no one bald anymore? Guess that’s old fashioned uh... (yeah I know it’s because they want them to have no characterization whatsoever, but what’s wrong in being bald?) I miss my bald-with-crazy-tattooes- regs❤️
“Hello again” 😁😁👋🏼👋🏼 the way they look at her LMAO 😶😐😑🤔😕
Food fight, yay! (Crosshair was just trying to chill but ooop guess it’s time to fight)
EXCUSE ME?!?!?
No seriously. They really threw AZ in curing Echo’s injury??? You don’t know how much I was crying. I thought they were gonna throw a “Fives” in and I wasn’t ready at all, not now. Glad they didn’t but still... fuck me Filoni
Look at Echo’s reaction. Fuck. He’s scared as hell, probably though he was back on Skako Minor being a lab rat.
Yeah what a shocking revelation for them AZ.
Headcanon: Tarkin hates his life. He’s so bitter.
The fact that they’re being tested against real threats and guns while they have stupid toy guns it’s so fucking wrong and ridiculous.
“Five are all that remain” but Echo’s not genetically enhanced. That means... (i was putting 2 and 2 together)
Here we go with a mission... this stinks from miles away just telling you
Omega and Hunter talks, ughh the feelings
The way Omega calls softly Hunter’s name ugh I’m sold. They already have a bond “something about her I can’t figure out.” 😩😩
“I guess kids aren’t your area of expertise” Crosshair what a subtle shade😂
Crosshair was not really going to shoot at kids and elder people. Right?
Oh hello Saw, good to see ya. Always a pleasure.
GENERAL SKYWALKER AND CAPTAIN REX mention here we goooo🤪🤪🤪
This is chilling and unsettling....
Great a snitch droid or whatever the fuck that is.
*dramatic stare between Crosshair and Hunter* plus toothpick action going on
Crosshair literally stfu
And here’s Tech dropping facts. Omega’s an enhanced clone. I wonder how they made it possible for her to be a female taking Jango’s DNA but whatever, this is Star Wars.
I am legitimately pissed that Crosshair threw away the toothpick. Justice for toothpick.
Omg she found a picture of the squad😭😭😭😭😭 flashback to Rex’s picture with Echo, Fives and Cody I’m crying
Look at them walking right into the trap.
Hunter looks totally offended but c’mon, you know what you were going against.
Yo, I’m really here trying not to SIMP and they fucking throw TBB in their blacks on my face. I don’t have to look at them, I don’t have to— HELLO HUNTER, how’s you booty doing?
Crosshair CHILL amigo ok io quando mi incazzo devo passare all’italiano quindi o ti calmi o ti calmi, capito brooo??!! Le bestemmie che mi fai tirare.
Ok he’s struggling, I see that. No need to be an ass tho 😶
“I know it’s not your fault. You can’t help it.” Yes I’m crying why aren’t you. The way he looks at her... I’m dead.
CT-9904. Okay... also why did they have to kick Hunter. He’s so precious, trying to defend him regardless of him being under the effect of the chip.
Oh shit oh fuck oh shit here we go. (I didn’t want to watch this part.)
Ehm, Hunter why did you have to lay down like that, you sexy beast. I’m waiting for a gifset of him like that. I’m waiting.
Not Omega copying his moves😂😂😂😂😂
“Abnormal individual” lmao the look on Tech and Hunter’s faces. So done.
Ugh the anxiety is spiraling in me. Also how did they suit up so fast lmao.
Oh no. Oh no. NO NO NO
oh shit.
He looks good tho ngl🥴 (toothpick’s back.)
Oh the look on Hunter’s face, the music... breaks my heart.
Oh I was kinda ready for this part but still..... 😭😩
Yo can you not throw the toothpick away in every damn scene please? That’s my emotional support character object.
Yo jumpscare I lost 10 years of my life what the fuck
The amount of times Wrecker got hurt just in this episode is concerning.
Your move. AHHHHHH
Yoooo Omega with that blaster rifle saved the day😃✨
BYE Crosshair see ya later 💔
Kaminoans hiding to the Empire that BB escaped? This is gonna be no good I’m telling you
Omega is precious. Must be protected.
Dad Hunter DAD HUNTER DAD HUNTER IM SOBBING
Short list of friends. One is on coordinates J-19. Saleucami sector system. CUT LAWQUANE confirmed. Fuck yes. I’m happy. Now I can rest.
Sike I will never rest. Strap in and let’s gooo
Well well well. I LOVED IT. FILONI THANKS FOR THE UNWANTED FEELINGS that made me remind I’m a human capable of emotions❤️ I owe you one but I’m also hurt and also in love. Yes, there are things that did not sit really nicely with me: the obvious whitewashing, Omega being a clone of Jango (yes I was kinda expecting it but as I think through about it... makes less sense. Literally how?), but overall I enjoyed it.
Also if you wanna chat about TBB and feelings dm me or send in an ask! See ya bad bitches💕💕

Ok I wanted to get my general thoughts out about the second episode of The Bad Batch so this post will contain spoilers. It will probably be fragmented and muddled but I am just getting my thoughts on paper, so to speak.
SO!!
First of all, these episodes are so cinematic so far. I wasn’t expecting that even for a shorter episode.
We have Hunter who is really pulling a full Mandalorian Chapter 13 so early in the game.
Wrecker, who I loved here. He shone and I was totally for him being so gentle and sweet with the kiddies this episode. The hc that his emotional intelligence is high is really shown in this episode AND he wasn’t made out to be dumb.
Please I want Echo to do more than just ask questions. And I’m still tripping off Omega and Tech and everyone being so nonchalant about the chips. Like... okay.. I guess.
I’m so glad we got to see Cut. I know people were gunning for that cameo. I stan Suu’s redesign too I mean really. She looks fire and I love that for her, get you a woman that can do both vibes. And so I guess this show is just gonna be “you know who else the bad batch knows???” Because literally how did they meet?
The episode was so warm in color. But again if this is what the production crew said they would fix, its just lighting. They looked better but I wanna see melanin no matter the lighting thanks!
Anyway, so far I’m intrigued with the direction this is going. I love that we’re seeing just how swift the empire solidified and really started changing things. It will be interesting how the overarching plot plays out, which I guess is just Crosshair hunting them. Can’t wait to see Rex too! Whenever that will be lmaoo.

Ep 1 and Ep 3, in my opinion, are examples of bad writing when it comes to Crosshair
Ok, now everyone knows I’m a Twiggy stan and will die for him (at least fanon Twiggs) but hear me out
In writing, which I do much of, there’s a different between a villain and a monster.
Villains can be downright cruel and do horrible things, but in the end there’s something to sympathize with/root for in a weird way. Something to redeem. Monsters, on the other hand, have no such luxury. They’re evil, plain and simple, and just serve as an antagonist to throw the protagonist(s) up against.
Crosshair got lumped into “monster”.
Their orders, in both episodes, were to eliminate the fighters. His ruthlessness towards them is summed up by the chip, and since its established that the chip causes blind obedience, that’s believable. We know the chips make clones “order happy”. So wiping out enemy fighters/people who go against orders? Rough and painful, but believable.
But it didn’t stop there.
Crosshair, even with the chip, had some brains. Cognitive function above “shooty shooty kill kill”. They worked to establish that in Ep 1 with Omi.
But that bit of “he’s still in there” is destroyed with civilian targeting. In Ep 1, Cross doesn’t aim for a fighter first. No. He aims for an unarmed, elderly civie. We know he knows the difference. The entire batch does. If the orders are to kill fighters, why aim for civies?
Shock value.
Pure and simple, Crosshair’s targeting and subsequent killing (by burning alive no less) of unarmed civilians is nothing but shock value. A brutal slap in the face to say “he’s corrupted and dark now”!
Yeah, Disney, we could have guess that by him attacking his brothers. By gunning down formerly friendly fighters with no remorse. Bring civies in, and you’re just trying to use shock value and pain. Get a reaction.
It’s bad writing on disney’s part. If you want to give characters redemption later, you better show that there is at least something in there worth redeeming. Crosshair has no character building aside from two scenes (hand on Echy’s shoulder and a 30 second chat with Omi). All they’re hitting us with is dark, evil, monstrous Crosshair. Aside from the disservice it gives to him as a character, it’s tiring to see and honestly kinda making me dislike the show.
How are we supposed to root for a character with no proven redeeming qualities?
Crosshair has tried to kill Caleb, gone after his brothers, outright killed a member of his own squad with no warning, and targeted civvies twice. Chip or not, that’s a lot in the span of 2 episodes (since he’s only been in two). It’s too much.
It’s one thing to make a dangerous villain who can still be redeemed later. It’s another thing to make a monster whose is so vile that redemption requires narrative backflips or plotholes to redeem
And Crosshair is, unfortunately, looking like the latter.
I will gladly eat my words later if we get more depth to him. We got 13 episodes left in the season.
But at current, from a writer perspective, I hate what they’ve done with this character.
TL;DR: Crosshair’s civvie targeting is pure shock value and bad writing.

Loki Series and Finale Review
So, I just want to say I did enjoy this show overall. I thought it was creative, had stunning cinematography, a killer score, and terrific performances from the entire cast.
As a finale, I thought it was alright. Jonathan Majors was definitely a highlight. He’s so charismatic and clearly is enjoying this role. I do believe he’s Kang so I’m excited to see him in future Marvel projects. The fight between Loki and Sylvie was also pretty well done as well as the conversation between Mobius and Renslayer.
Shoutout to Classic Loki, Kid Loki, and Alligator Loki. That was the best episode. Period. At least Marvel gave us a Loki who did survive the evil grape. That’s better than nothing.
Also, Wunmi Mosaku was fantastic and her character was definitely one of my favorites in this show.
Out of the three MCU shows we have so far, I think this would be my second favorite. And yes, I am a proud Loki stan. However, I felt that WandaVision ultimately was more fulfilling and satisfying. The thing with WandaVision was that it was about grief and accepting it. Even though Vision had to go, Wanda knew she’d see him again. I think what happened with Loki was that I went into this show with certain expectations. And, those expectations might have been a bit too high?
The way I read this show’s summary was that we were going to get to see Loki go through an identity arc and learn to love himself. Which is a beautiful story imo. Except, my idea of self love didn’t include actual selfcest. I had hoped to see Loki accept himself as a Jotun or realize that his family did love him. And while we did get Loki coming to terms with some of his insecurities and learn that he was loved, I always felt the Jotun part of him should have been addressed. I also wished to see a scene with him and Thor. I need that hug and the shining sun, ok guys? No, I’m still not over it nor letting go of that quote and I will keep fighting to see the sun shine again and a hug. Overall, I think my idea of this show was very different from the writer’s idea.
I think my two biggest criticisms have to be the ending of the show and Sylvie x Loki. The end featured Loki all alone; Sylvie betrayed him and Mobius either forgot him or is another variant. Still, to see a character who has struggled with feeling loved and accepted ending up alone again really upset me. I know there’s going to be a season 2 but it still hurt. Personally, Loki is character I relate to and I don’t want to see him end up alone. It honestly reminded me of Crosshair from The Bad Batch. Those of you who read my content know how I feel about Crosshair in that show. Addressing Sylvie x Loki, I just find it really weird that he’s in love with another version of himself. It reminds of me of the clone shipping in Star Wars. I know that Sylvie is very different from Loki personality and appearance wise but she’s still a Loki. Self-love to me doesn’t include romance. I would have preferred them to remain friends or have a sibling bond. I was also low-key rooting for Loki x Mobius. It also felt at times like Loki wasn’t the main focus. But that’s just a nitpick.
TL;DR: This show had amazing performances, visuals, and score. However, my expectations for this show might have been too much wishful thinking. I did enjoy seeing Loki come to terms with certain things. The strongest parts of the show were the moments when Loki could express his emotions about his family and find friendship in others such as Mobius. But my expectations kinda ruined my experience.

How about explaining all of the episode’s titles? Would you? Maybe one a day/week.
“Ok, here we go. This is only from memory and if any of this is wrong or contains typos please don’t @ me I didn’t edit!
Season one:
“Pilot: twas the pilot!
“Grace”: Brody prays at the end
“Clean Skin”: I think this is because Nazir lets Brody take a bath
“Semper I”: it’s a play on “Semper Fi” which is short for “Semper Fidelis” which is a Marine motto which means “always faithful”
“Blind Spot”: Carrie thinks Brody uses the blind spot in the safe house to slip Hamid the razor blade plus her growing attraction for him is kind of her blind spot!!
“The Good Soldier”: almost undoubtedly a reference to a novel about a love triangle between a woman and two soldiers
“The Weekend”: because it’s THE weekend, duh
“Achilles Heel”: Saul’s Achilles heel is that he always answers when work calls, Tom Walker’s is that he loves his wife and kids… Carrie’s is literally every aspect of her existence
“Crossfire”: Issa gets stuck in the crossfire
“Representative Brody”: it’s the episode where Brody decides to run for Congress lol
“The Vest”: Brody tries on a vest!
“Marine One”: *FORGET ABOUT BEFORE, THIS IS NOW. I SAW THEM! WHO? BRODY… THEY HUSTLED IT RIGHT THROUGH THE METAL DIRECTORS ALONG WITH THE VICE PRESIDENT. DO YOU EVEN REALIZE WHAT YOU’RE SAYING. YES. HE’S PLANNING ON TAKING THEM ALL OUT. THAT IS WHAT’S COMING. WE’VE BEEN HEARING CHATTER FOR DAYS NOW, MARINE ONE, MARINE TWO. IT’S NOT THE PRESIDENT’S HELICOPTER. IT’S ACTUAL MARINES. BRODY. AND WALKER. THEY ARE MARINE ONE AND MARINE TWO THEY’RE WORKING TOGETHER THEY MUST BE.  **transcribed verbatim from memory
Season two:
“The Smile”: CARRIE FUCKING SMILES FOR FUCKING ONCE
“Beirut Is Back”: I could have sworn that there was a tourism campaign for the city of Beirut and this was the slogan but now I can find no evidence of that online
“State of Independence”: idk if this is a reference to the Donna Summers song or just a reference to Carrie being on her own again
“New Car Smell”: Brody gets a car wash to get rid of the odor of tobacco and murder
“Q&A”: Carrie asks some questions
“A Gettysburg Address”: play on words with Abraham Lincoln’s speech and the fact that Quinn & Co. literally go to a physical address in Gettysburg
“The Clearing”: I think this has multiple meanings: Carrie meets Brody in the clearing in the woods, Dana clears her conscience, Brody attempts to clear his
“I’ll Fly Away”: a reference to the 90s TV show that Henry Bromell (and, hi! Barbara Hall!) both wrote on but a more literal reference to Brody being whisked away on a helicopter at the end (lmao s2 is wild)
“Two Hats”: so many people wearing hats in this episode!!
“Broken Hearts”: lulz Walden’s breaks at the end
“In Memoriam”: because Nazir dies (fact: this episode was originally titled “The Motherfucker in the Turban” but was changed last minute, thank god)
“The Choice”: Carrie must choose between red and white wine JUST KIDDING IS ANYONE STILL READING THIS???
Season three:
“Tin Man Is Down”: someone says this during the weird Wizard of Oz op
“Uh… Oh… Aw”: phonetically it sounds like “fuck… you… saul” if you were drugged out on thorazine
“Tower of David”: Brody’s residence
“Game On”: because it’s when Carrie and Saul’s spy-came-in-from-the-cold operation is revealed
“The Yoga Play”: it’s Carrie’s very unoriginal name for an espionage scheme in which a lady with blonde hair attends a yoga class in her place
“Still Positive”: Carrie takes a 47th pregnancy test and is still positive #scarredforlife
“Gerontion”: ugh this is a poem I don’t know more go find Jacob Clifton’s TWoP recap
“A Red Wheelbarrow”: Carrie texts this to the Franklin man, it’s like spy code for “i’m the one answering this not some other dude”
“One Last Thing”: Saul to Brody: “you will do this one last thing” (literally though!)
“Good Night”: more spy code. I think it means “we’re fucked!”?
“Big Man in Tehran”: Brody becomes one of these when he denounces America for terrorism! (but only for show!)
“The Star”: probs dual meaning and allusion to the literal star Carrie draws and Damian Lewis’ stature on the show
Season four:
“The Drone Queen”: we stan one!
“Trylon and Perisphere”: a reference to the two structures at the World’s Fair and I can’t remember where I read this but I think it’s a reference to Quinn and the Landlady which is 100% horrific and offensive
“Shalwar Kameez”: this is the national dress of Pakistan but beyond that I got nothing
“Iron in the Fire”: Carrie says this about Aayan
“About a Boy”: think this is not a reference to the book/film but rather just to Carrie trying to figure out Aayan’s dealio
“From A to B and Back Again”: possibly a reference to the circular nature of the episode? They go from thinking they’ve got Haqqani to being back at square one by episode’s end
“Redux”: Carrie hallucinates Brody
“Halfway to a Donut”: Duck says this about some pastry. Like 4.06, they think they’ve got Saul and end up back to zero (donut)
“There’s Something Else Going On”: well there was!!
“13 Hours in Islamabad”: reference to the Benghazi attacks, which the episode basically lifts from directly and which also lasted ~13 hours
“Krieg Nicht Lieb”: Carrie meets a German spy woman! This means “war not love” (not perfectly translated), so an ironic take on “love not war”
“Long Time Coming”: Carrie and Quinn finally have sex!!!!!!! (just seeing if anyone is still reading this)
Season five:
“Separation Anxiety”: I think this a meta reference to the time jump and also to Carrie’s anxieties about being out of the CIA but back in that world
“The Tradition of Hospitality”: I believe this is a reference to Carrie + Otto being guests at the UN refugee camp and how… un-hospitably that trip ends
“Super Powers”: Carrie believes she has super powers when she’s off her meds
“Why Is This Night Different”: these words at said at Passover seder, which starts out the episode
“Better Call Saul”: horrifically embarrassing title that is a reference to Carrie calling Saul as well as the Breaking Bad spinoff starring Bob Odenkirk
“Parabiosis”: I honestly don’t know. It’s a scientific term and I haven’t rewatched those middle season five episodes since they aired and also don’t care to!
“Oriole”: this was Carrie’s code name with one of her assets in Iraq
“All About Allison”: this episode centers on our Lord and Savior Allison Carr, Queen of Online Handbag Shopping!
“The Litvinov Ruse”: I think this describes the trick they played on Allison thinking she was blown when she wasn’t
“New Normal”: some military or CIA person says this about ISIS or Russia and Quinn being gassed
“Our Man in Damascus”: this is the title of a book about a man who infiltrates a foreign government at the highest levels so I’m pretty sure it’s a reference to Allison
“A False Glimmer”: lifted straight from Quinn’s letter!
Season six:
“Fair Game”: was surely sad by Keane or Dar or Saul or someone else about something (sorry, haven’t rewatched these episodes either)
“The Man in the Basement”: it’s where Quinn threw that mug at Carrie
“The Covenant”: believe this is a reference to the scene with Saul and his sister and Palestine/Israel
“A Flash of Light”: Etai says* this to Saul: “And the question I keep asking myself is this-- should we [the Jewish people] pack up and leave before it's too late? All eight million of us? Should we go back to the ghettos of Europe and Asia and wait for the next pogrom? Or just pray it doesn't happen here first, in a flash of light?” *not recited from memory
“Casus Belli”: apparently this was the actual name of meat face?? The phrase actually means a justification for war, so...
“The Return”: isn’t the episode where Javadi comes back?
“Imminent Risk”: Carrie is this to Franny and Quinn is this to.... himself?
“alt.truth”: I think this was someone’s sock puppet handle or website name or something? Idk it was about online trolls I think
“Sock Puppets”: Max finds ‘em!
“The Flag House”: the house where meat face lives has a flag out front
“R is for Romeo”: there was an R on the white board at the flag house which I think meant eastern time?? It was spy code I can’t remember!!
“America First”: term that used to mean non-interventionist policy but has been today co-opted by the American right to mean that we gotta put America ahead of all other interests (moral, humane, rational, etc.) because... AMERICA!!! Typically used to justify fascist policies
Season seven:
“Enemy of the State”: Carrie’s power of bun have put her in the crosshairs (is anyone still reading this?)
“Rebel Rebel”: I remember this being a play on words and it’s a verb, not a noun. Said by those gun crazies with Brett O’Keefe.
“Standoff”: Saul and O’Keefe
“Like Bad at Things”: definition for “incompetent.” Said by Carl, who deserves a Best Supporting Actor Emmy
“Active Measures”: term for actions taken by Russia to undermine America
“Species Jump”: another science term to describe the jumping of a pathogen from one host to another... I’m thinking this might be Carrie understanding who Dante really was but it’s a Chip Johannessen title so anything is possible
“Andante”: it’s how Carrie ends the episode! (that is a joke and it is 100% another meaning for the title but it also refers to a moderately slow tempo which is basically this episode’s structure until, y’know, the ending!)
“Lies, Amplifiers, Fucking Twitter”: it’s one half of a haiku Carrie is writing
“Useful Idiot”: see: picture of Carrie in a PowerPoint presentation
“Clarity”: Carrie gets it (kinda)
“All In”: what Carrie must convince Saul she is for the 650th time because Saul remains trash
“Paean to the People”: a reference to Keane’s speech
