You know that thing you see sometimes (often with younger writers) where a character's preferences line up very closely with the author's preferences? I take perverse pleasure in doing the opposite of that and just roasting things I love dearly.

So when I inevitably post the story where Steve listens to Billy Joel and Jonathan's internal narration is brutal about it, just know that it's only because 1) I know Jonathan wouldn't be able to stand it and 2) my feelings for Billy Joel's music run very, very deep. And that cracks me up.

i tend to forage for individual songs more than listening to entire albums but there are a few... 🤔 apologies in advance for my normie music taste

"my head is an animal" by of monsters and men. just a parade of absolute bangers especially king and lionheart and dirty paws and your bones.

"pure heroine" by lorde. back in 2014 was obsessed with those songs especially buzzcut season for the gender of it all

there's a lofi album called "sad wizard vibes" dedicated to caleb widogast by autumn orange that kept me company for a whole winter in 2020

hozier's first album. the way the irish media had a whole little hysteria moment over take me to church was such a mood. love that song and 'like real people do' and 'from eden'. but equally wasteland, baby! especially for 'sunlight' and 'shrike'

the original soundtrack for that movie Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron. bryan adams really served cunt for that movie and my parents were literally physically sick of listening to it by the time i was ten ^_^ good for me

Lacking mostly in seriousness, I think one reason life feels so, so awful is because I don't own a single Jackie DeShannon album (LP or single would be preferable, CD would be more than acceptable) and I still don't own Steeltown by Big Country on vinyl.
